Episode Transcript
[SPEAKER_03]: Hello and welcome back to another episode of Mage Hand High Five.
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm your dungeon master, Casey Pappas, and this week our ranking is provided by Shennu over with our friends with many sighted media.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, hi Shennu.
[SPEAKER_01]: Hello.
[SPEAKER_03]: And so now, ranked least to most likely to kiss a dog on the mouth.
[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I know where I'm going to be on this right here.
[SPEAKER_04]: We've seen you do it.
[SPEAKER_03]: It happened on the call.
[SPEAKER_02]: First, Max Weinberg.
[SPEAKER_02]: Ooh, hello.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm Max White.
[SPEAKER_02]: Max White.
[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
[SPEAKER_02]: Max Weinberg playing Wyatt four sites.
[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, I don't think I would kiss a dog on the mouth, but Wyatt absolutely would kiss a dog on the mouth.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, maybe.
[SPEAKER_02]: Next, Rowan McStay.
[SPEAKER_01]: Howdy, I'm Rowan McStay, play it, Solomon, Rire.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I really like dogs and they make me a little bit nervous sometimes.
[SPEAKER_01]: So getting that close to their face might scare me a little bit.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I think that Solomon has accepted a kiss on the mouth from Kingston, Jamison.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh [SPEAKER_03]: Robin Lengan Hop.
[SPEAKER_04]: Hi, I'm Robin Lengan Hop playing Hayden Concade.
[SPEAKER_04]: And yes, my sweet girl willow is sitting here in the room with me while in recording.
[SPEAKER_04]: And she will come over and try to put her mouth inside of my mouth at some point in the room this recording.
[SPEAKER_02]: I will say I am always tempted to stick my dogs, snout into my mouth.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, this is like, I do the kisses with Willow, because I don't have a choice in the matter.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's just gonna happen.
[SPEAKER_04]: She's just gonna get in there and she's gonna get in.
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm just trying to make sure that her tongue doesn't get places.
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't want it to go with that.
[SPEAKER_03]: Let's dive right in.
[SPEAKER_03]: The group reconnected an echo after there, in counter, with Titus, Cortois, and Clive.
[SPEAKER_03]: Wyatt met up with Clive, the Forsyth family's man at arms, who insisted on returning the former to three for his safety.
[SPEAKER_03]: Wyatt challenged this, and the two fought, with Wyatt successfully proving himself against his caretaker.
[SPEAKER_03]: Hayden spent the evening with the fate spun players in Winona, later confirming both Cortois and Thadius Jamison's involvement in the death of the old Pontifix and subsequent church reform.
[SPEAKER_03]: Salamay sent messages to the Lysander and to Belinda, but did not receive any back.
[SPEAKER_03]: Brabis later visited her, filling her in on his Vendetta against Titus Jamison and his vampiric turn, before departing on a final mission to Thread.
[SPEAKER_03]: Why it discovered his flame powers beginning to fail, likely due to rotus effects on the flame, and the trio resolved to head to the fount of the flame, a holy sight in the hopes of revitalizing it.
[SPEAKER_03]: When we left off, the trio departed echo now safe in the hands of corduan light feather and were headed south.
[SPEAKER_00]: Hmm.
[SPEAKER_02]: Why it has not stopped talking about the flame since they left just giving them just every bit of information he knows.
[SPEAKER_02]: So they both know everything that they need to know.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, so we're at like 300 years ago at this point [SPEAKER_01]: How much we got left?
[SPEAKER_04]: There's so much more.
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm annoyed about how much of this hour to new.
[SPEAKER_02]: But we still have a few days left to journey there, so a long time.
[SPEAKER_02]: When after that sink and broke embrosia, I decided to go to the small village of...
Salami gets tired and falls off her horse.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, sweet and out?
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, sorry.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry.
[SPEAKER_01]: What?
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, God, I'm sorry, why don't I'm in a trance.
[SPEAKER_01]: A religious trance.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, that's so, you're getting really close.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's so exciting.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: I am.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is a religious experience for me.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so happy for you.
[SPEAKER_04]: Thank you, Darlin.
[SPEAKER_04]: Why, I'm just going to say for the sake of Solomon's head and avoid and get trauma there of.
[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe we keep the history lesson to a minimum for the rest of the journey?
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, um, well, you'll get your fill at the font.
[SPEAKER_01]: So we're good.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, well, Donald, hell, you can talk to us about it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry.
[SPEAKER_01]: I just, I get a little spaced out.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what, why don't you?
[SPEAKER_01]: Why don't we fast forward a little bit?
[SPEAKER_01]: You start talking to us about [SPEAKER_01]: 50 years ago, maybe I'll be able to keep up a little better.
[SPEAKER_04]: So the man, I'll just hang Glitter Baby over to you, and it'll just give you a little nip every time you stop not off.
[SPEAKER_04]: How about that?
[SPEAKER_01]: That's great.
[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much.
[SPEAKER_01]: Why are you biting?
[SPEAKER_03]: Glitter Baby gives you a little bite for free.
[SPEAKER_03]: Just bite.
[SPEAKER_03]: You're not, you're not falling asleep.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just, you better not have rabies, you little.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, if anything had had titanus, you can't feel about this thing vaccinated.
[SPEAKER_02]: I could fix that, too.
[SPEAKER_02]: Wait, aren't you using this?
[SPEAKER_02]: Did you see it?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm perfect.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, actually never mind.
[SPEAKER_01]: You can have rabies.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's fine.
[SPEAKER_01]: I can't get it.
[SPEAKER_03]: God.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: Have as light, as light launches into the next round of historical narrative of the flame.
[SPEAKER_03]: Solome, you hear a voice in your head.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, okay.
[SPEAKER_03]: You receive a message in your head that says, Hey Girl Scout.
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, thanks for the heads up.
[SPEAKER_03]: Where's he headed?
[SPEAKER_03]: And wouldn't you like to know?
[SPEAKER_03]: Keep pen safe.
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm still getting it back.
[SPEAKER_04]: What if I can tell her where he's headed, shit?
[SPEAKER_04]: Solomon, are you about to pass out again?
[SPEAKER_04]: Your face is getting all rosy.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you seem a little bit more excited about the history than when I was talking.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, all this talk of the flames really got me hot and bothering.
[SPEAKER_01]: Keep on going, kid.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think I just keep that to myself.
[SPEAKER_03]: as you are headed down the road.
[SPEAKER_03]: This area of the Badlands is not often explored.
[SPEAKER_03]: The mountainous terrain south of Echo is gorgeous.
[SPEAKER_03]: No one, as far as you're aware, has settled out here or at least not recently.
[SPEAKER_03]: The closest city is at this point is probably Fort Braddock to the south east of here.
[SPEAKER_03]: and you watch as the Westfall Mountains continue deep into the wastelands to the south.
[SPEAKER_03]: Your headed down this path, when Wyatt is interrupted by a...
Wyatt, an arrow hits the dirt in front of your horse.
[SPEAKER_01]: Hello?
[SPEAKER_01]: Shit, kid, what was that?
[SPEAKER_03]: You hear a voice?
[SPEAKER_03]: Say, that's far enough.
[SPEAKER_03]: Hi, I'm Wyatt, who are you?
[SPEAKER_03]: Wyatt, I suggest you and your folks turn around.
[SPEAKER_03]: Why?
[SPEAKER_03]: You're kind ain't welcome around here.
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, kind?
[SPEAKER_03]: Bandits.
[SPEAKER_03]: Bandits?
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't even know who Wyatt's.
[SPEAKER_04]: How do we get a rob?
[SPEAKER_02]: Wyatt starts cackling.
[SPEAKER_02]: Ha ha ha.
[SPEAKER_02]: We're not bandits.
[SPEAKER_02]: How do we know that?
[SPEAKER_01]: I got a schedule for Maverick Lamarch saying that we're emissaries who've peace from twin river.
[SPEAKER_03]: This is my book of the flame.
[SPEAKER_03]: Bandits aren't usually that religious normally.
[SPEAKER_03]: That doesn't mean you didn't steal those items.
[SPEAKER_04]: You know what?
[SPEAKER_04]: Step one.
[SPEAKER_04]: If you want to just let us know what your perimeter is, we'd be happy to just ride around it.
[SPEAKER_03]: This road is closed.
[SPEAKER_03]: The whole road?
[SPEAKER_03]: Y'all can't be heading down this way.
[SPEAKER_03]: Why suggest y'all take it on back to the found or wherever you come from?
[SPEAKER_03]: We're actually trying to get to the found.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we're going there.
[SPEAKER_03]: Hold.
[SPEAKER_03]: Hold it.
[SPEAKER_03]: You hear like faint whispers.
[SPEAKER_01]: We don't see anyone, right?
[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, you don't see anyone yet.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_03]: And another voice says, [SPEAKER_02]: As an accolade of the flame, I'm going to make a pilgrimage to the fount of the flame for personal growth.
[SPEAKER_02]: You all followers of the flame?
[SPEAKER_02]: He is.
[SPEAKER_02]: I am, and I'm still working on these other two.
[SPEAKER_01]: I am a follower of the river, and Hayden here is a plus one, is a plus one.
[SPEAKER_03]: For the time being, you say you're the [SPEAKER_03]: We got a follower of the flame and a follower of the river.
[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, yes indeed.
[SPEAKER_03]: Hold.
[SPEAKER_01]: Still holding.
[SPEAKER_03]: And then you start to overhear the voices as they grow louder and one of them says, well, I don't care.
[SPEAKER_03]: Seems like they might know something.
[SPEAKER_03]: Know something what?
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going out.
[SPEAKER_03]: You see coming around from behind one of the boulders.
[SPEAKER_03]: is a person, they wear a sort of a night's helmet, fully visor down, two horns come up through the helmet from the top of their head, they're wearing what looks to be a little sort of more traditional clothing than you might expect, they wear something similar to a [SPEAKER_04]: Well, how'd it, friend?
[SPEAKER_04]: What can we do for ya?
[SPEAKER_03]: I see.
[SPEAKER_03]: What are you all know about Sacramento?
[SPEAKER_01]: Why don't you answer your question?
[SPEAKER_01]: No one can answer your question.
[SPEAKER_02]: Damn, no one can answer your question.
[SPEAKER_02]: Sacramento.
[SPEAKER_02]: I guess question.
[SPEAKER_02]: We as people, Casey Rowan and Max, know Sacramento PA religious term.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, I'm assuming based on experiences so far in this game, that may or may not be a town.
[SPEAKER_03]: You don't know whether it refers to like the religious sacrament or a town or a place.
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: I sounds religious, right?
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, it's...
[SPEAKER_02]: It's nothing in the history we've talked about so far on the trip, refers to a sacrament.
[SPEAKER_02]: And I follow the wild, which isn't exactly a sacrament kind of deal.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, see, I can not just replace one, they follow the wilds.
[SPEAKER_01]: The big scary bird.
[SPEAKER_03]: The nightstackers a little bit.
[SPEAKER_03]: and says the wilds, too.
[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, they don't seem like bandits.
[SPEAKER_03]: No, we're definitely not bandits.
[SPEAKER_02]: Who are y'all?
[SPEAKER_02]: You haven't said who you are yet.
[SPEAKER_02]: I've introduced myself.
[SPEAKER_02]: Right, you promised you not gonna attack me.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'd be for the most part, yeah?
[SPEAKER_03]: I'll go second.
[SPEAKER_01]: Solving me things back to Volinda calling your girl scout and says, scouts honor.
[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
[SPEAKER_03]: They remove their helmet and you see that they are a tiefling.
[SPEAKER_03]: And they say, [SPEAKER_03]: I'm Oran O'Rork, and the two behind me are Marin Rathwing and the newbie, and you see another night walk out, but this one keeps her hand on her sword.
[SPEAKER_03]: And she says, I'm Marin.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, I gotta say, between the two of you, I'm not sure which one has the better name.
[SPEAKER_04]: These are both A plus solid names.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that's your name.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oran or Rock and Merin Raffwing.
[SPEAKER_03]: She is a Dragonborn in full armor.
[SPEAKER_03]: And she looks at, she looks at Oran and looks back.
[SPEAKER_03]: And says, if they're bandits, they're doing a really good job of being clueless.
[SPEAKER_01]: We also have, if it's any help at all, basically no value will stop.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's true.
[SPEAKER_02]: My feet are also dragging on the ground because I have a stump-sized horse for why it still do.
[SPEAKER_03]: You are still writing Bronco with a green pony.
[SPEAKER_01]: here you know what tell you what gesture good faith i will drop my weapons and prepare an action to summon my sword if needed but hands up i don't know about the other two but feel free to search me if you got a the it's about this time that the third member comes out he is very tall about seven foot oh [SPEAKER_03]: pale pale skin, also wearing a helmet, and as he comes around the corner he stops, and says, wait, he removes his helmet.
[SPEAKER_03]: Once long braided hair and beard now shorter to accommodate, you know this man.
[SPEAKER_03]: Though the last time you saw him, he was tied up on a mountainside.
[SPEAKER_02]: How did I figure how this was before you?
[SPEAKER_00]: Ha ha ha ha.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I was thinking it was foul.
[SPEAKER_00]: Is Mordrick?
[SPEAKER_03]: It's Mordrick.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh shit.
[SPEAKER_03]: And Mordrick says, I know them.
[SPEAKER_03]: They, they saved my life.
[SPEAKER_03]: I did.
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, slap my behind and call me Nancy Mordrick.
[SPEAKER_03]: What are you doing here?
[SPEAKER_03]: Orange looks back and goes, Well, damn, the rookie knows him.
[SPEAKER_03]: I will leave shit.
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, if that's the case, I guess we can trust you at least a little.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, our friend's stump.
[SPEAKER_01]: Might have really helped Mordrick out, I think.
[SPEAKER_03]: Mordrick looks at the two of you and says, Where is stump?
[SPEAKER_01]: Wish we could tell ya.
[SPEAKER_04]: Long story, but he's lost for now.
[SPEAKER_03]: The amulet.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, your old, your old friend did some, did some stuff to him.
[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, more of your kings' head at that, and Marin looks back, looks at y'all, and says, right, I'll make the executive decision.
[SPEAKER_03]: We'll take you to Maeve.
[SPEAKER_03]: Maeve will decide what happens next, but y'all got to be blindfolded.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you ain't gonna kill us, are you?
[SPEAKER_03]: You have my word as a night of the flame.
[SPEAKER_02]: Ohhhh.
[SPEAKER_02]: Can I, like, roll some sort of history check to see if I recognize anything that the knights are wearing or have heard of the knights of the flame before?
[SPEAKER_03]: Sure.
[SPEAKER_04]: Or a religion check?
[SPEAKER_02]: History, religion.
[SPEAKER_02]: Great.
[SPEAKER_02]: We're going religion because why it's dumb.
[SPEAKER_05]: Haha.
[SPEAKER_03]: I have a dirty 20.
[SPEAKER_03]: So, with a dirty 20, you noticed the engravings on the armor.
[SPEAKER_03]: little flames dance along the edges.
[SPEAKER_03]: Each of the helmets are em blazing with flames around the visor.
[SPEAKER_03]: You bet if one of them drew their sword flames would erupt from it.
[SPEAKER_02]: So, I was jokingly going to show them the mark of the flame, but now I might actually do it sooner rather than later.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it seems like I'm going to do it.
[SPEAKER_03]: Why you know, in church teachings that long ago, around the time the church was getting started, the church was protected by an order of knights devoted to the flames cause.
[SPEAKER_03]: However, with the advent of technology, with guns, you know, planes trains and automobiles, there isn't much use for knights anymore.
[SPEAKER_03]: Not when firepowder does the trick, just fine.
[SPEAKER_03]: Who's Mave?
[SPEAKER_03]: Mave is the elder of Sacrament.
[SPEAKER_03]: Is she a knight too?
[SPEAKER_03]: Is Mave a knight?
[SPEAKER_03]: Mave is Knight commander of Sacrament.
[SPEAKER_02]: Ooh, I want to meet her.
[SPEAKER_01]: Is, sorry, are y'all all not to the flame and why it you seem familiar with that conceptually?
[SPEAKER_01]: What is Sacrament?
[SPEAKER_01]: I was on catching up a little bit.
[SPEAKER_01]: I got old school river magic, home school, information.
[SPEAKER_05]: We're going to have to catch me up.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so old.
[SPEAKER_01]: I grew up literally in a wagon.
[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to have to get me up to speed.
[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
[SPEAKER_03]: Sacrament's a place will take you there, but you have to be blindfolded.
[SPEAKER_02]: mean we don't have to be blindfolded and white holds up his palm revealing the mark with the flame.
[SPEAKER_03]: Marin looks at your palm and says, oh, you still have to be blindfolded, but that goes a long way towards our trust.
[SPEAKER_03]: It's for our safety not yours.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes ma'am and y'all are all y'all are all nights of the flame?
[SPEAKER_03]: Well, more dricks on us way.
[SPEAKER_03]: All right, you can't be a night of the flame in [SPEAKER_01]: overnight as it were.
[SPEAKER_01]: God.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, let's get these blindfolds on.
[SPEAKER_03]: God.
[SPEAKER_03]: Knock me out after that one.
[SPEAKER_03]: Marin who still has not removed her helmet.
[SPEAKER_03]: Just looks at you and hands you a blindfold.
[SPEAKER_03]: Can you gag her to after that statement?
[SPEAKER_03]: It seems that the orange is starting to warm up.
[SPEAKER_03]: Marin is still very frigid.
[SPEAKER_03]: And along the way, as you're headed there, orange starts chatting you up.
[SPEAKER_03]: And says, [SPEAKER_03]: Right.
[SPEAKER_03]: Well, where we're headed, we're going to one of the, if you're a dignitary of the flame, the wilds in the river, then you may be interested to know that this is one of the last remaining sort of traditional places of the flame.
[SPEAKER_03]: One of the last, as far as we're aware, people who sort of maintain the tradition of nighthood with the flame, and Maren's as shush.
[SPEAKER_03]: Don't tell them all that.
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I already knew that.
[SPEAKER_03]: That's why we're here.
[SPEAKER_02]: You didn't know that.
[SPEAKER_02]: Do you grow up in the church?
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, kind of.
[SPEAKER_03]: I studied with Father Mulden and before he kind of disappeared, I don't know who that is.
[SPEAKER_02]: big and made of stone.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's kind of nice.
[SPEAKER_02]: There are people like Father Muldenin was really really nice and really caring about people, but there are some other people like the order of the first ember and Grand Inquisitor Cortois who are really not nice and kind of doing bad things for the flame.
[SPEAKER_02]: So it kind of has a bad taste in people's mouths and you could say leaves them cinched a little bit.
[SPEAKER_02]: But, um, I went to St.
Ignis, which is a school in Red Rock, really.
[SPEAKER_02]: Where we studied, yeah, it was really great.
[SPEAKER_02]: Huh, that's wild.
[SPEAKER_02]: Hayden's got a really complicated relationship with the flame, but I'll get them there eventually.
[SPEAKER_03]: Orange looks over at you Hayden and says, well, whatever feud is happening between you and the church.
[SPEAKER_03]: That's, that's not us.
[SPEAKER_04]: Look, people are not institutions.
[SPEAKER_04]: I understand that.
[SPEAKER_04]: I have no quarrel with y'all, but I have many, many reasons to quarrel with the grand-high inquisitor.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry.
[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like I'm still playing ketchup a little bit.
[SPEAKER_01]: The other part of the flame, but not part of the church.
[SPEAKER_01]: How's that work?
[SPEAKER_03]: Well, sounds great.
[SPEAKER_03]: Something something actually come before the church, right?
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, the flame.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we follow that.
[SPEAKER_01]: What do y'all think is the river in the wilds?
[SPEAKER_01]: Is that not all wasteland witchcraft to you like it is for the church?
[SPEAKER_03]: Or in looks over and says, why don't you handle that one, Marin?
[SPEAKER_03]: And Marin says the wilds and the river.
[SPEAKER_03]: They are like siblings.
[SPEAKER_03]: Like a...
[SPEAKER_03]: I guess the godnexed over from us.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, shit.
[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, I stubbed my toe.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, hell.
[SPEAKER_05]: We're blindfolded.
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, no.
[SPEAKER_03]: She says, oh, it's sorry about that.
[SPEAKER_03]: They're sort of the gods next over from us.
[SPEAKER_03]: They had followers, but they're gone now.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not all of them.
[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I guess not all of them.
[SPEAKER_01]: Wait, were there...
Are there knots of the river in the wilds too?
[SPEAKER_01]: Or just the flame?
[SPEAKER_01]: They've...
you said they've all died out?
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh.
[SPEAKER_03]: There were...
there were nights of the river in wilds once.
[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, y'all know anything about the interloper?
[SPEAKER_03]: Uh...
a sharp inhale of breath.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's kind of what we're trying to deal with.
[SPEAKER_01]: Why, tell them about it.
[SPEAKER_02]: I would rather say this to Mave than just- I'd like to say it once, you know, so we can all- Oh, that makes sense.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, but while we're here, just curious, what were the nights of the while, like?
[SPEAKER_02]: Because, seems like that might be- B-do you know?
[SPEAKER_02]: Because it seems like that might have been a lot.
[SPEAKER_03]: Based on what we know?
[SPEAKER_03]: Maran says, I don't know em personally.
[SPEAKER_03]: They're dead long before I was born.
[SPEAKER_03]: Well, maybe we can make some new ones.
[SPEAKER_04]: This is fascinating.
[SPEAKER_04]: Seriously.
[SPEAKER_03]: Orange nudges you Wyatt and says, Grow up in a place of stone.
[SPEAKER_03]: Everybody's really friendly.
[SPEAKER_03]: You're going to like Sacrament.
[SPEAKER_02]: Looking forward to it.
[SPEAKER_03]: And it's not too, uh, Mordric is honestly kept pretty silent for most of this time.
[SPEAKER_03]: Attracts.
[SPEAKER_03]: And pretty soon, after a little bit of walking, Marin says, All right, here's good enough.
[SPEAKER_03]: You can take him off.
[SPEAKER_03]: Why just burns his off?
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh my god.
[SPEAKER_03]: She's like, lights his head on fire and burns it off.
[SPEAKER_03]: Or, or in his is pleased with your show and marinces welcome to sacrament.
[SPEAKER_03]: You look ahead.
[SPEAKER_03]: You're not quite sure where you are, you're still in the midst of the foot hills of the West Fall Mountains, but you look ahead and there is a massive cliff face that juts forward from the sand, an extension of the mountains.
[SPEAKER_03]: It towers and as you look, it takes a second to register a town.
[SPEAKER_03]: nearly hidden amongst the jagged cliff face the town has been carved directly into its side.
[SPEAKER_03]: A series of ropes and ladders connect its rooms and surfaces.
[SPEAKER_03]: Sacrament is a vertical town.
[SPEAKER_02]: How long have you all kind of been here with little connection to the outside world?
[SPEAKER_03]: Oran says, well, I mean, we've been here as long as Mave has and Mave's been here a couple hundred years now and Maren says, shush!
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, we might want to know a thing at two about her then.
[SPEAKER_03]: Maren approaches one face and knocks on it and you see descended from a room above you a wooden platform connected by ropes.
[SPEAKER_03]: You all board the platform?
[SPEAKER_03]: you head up into sacrament.
[SPEAKER_03]: you enter into a small stone room.
[SPEAKER_03]: And as you're walking through sacrament, the people who walk here where clothing that feels a little bit more traditional, similar to the knights, two nicks instead of shirts, boots that extend up the calf, somewhere bits of armor, all of them ornamented with images of the flame.
[SPEAKER_03]: You have to climb a series of ropes and ladders to a sinned sacrament.
[SPEAKER_03]: Before finally reaching a room that is guarded by two more nights of the flame.
[SPEAKER_03]: Maran says, way here.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, ma'am.
[SPEAKER_03]: Maran approaches the two guards and says, there are us protecting them to see Maeve.
[SPEAKER_03]: The night's nod and the door's open.
[SPEAKER_03]: and you enter into honestly a pretty modestly furnished room.
[SPEAKER_03]: It doesn't look royal, it doesn't look ornate.
[SPEAKER_03]: There's honestly not much here, there are a couple shelves with bottles of sand, bottles of colored sand, bits of rocks.
[SPEAKER_03]: and seated on a cushion towards the far end of the room is perhaps the oldest woman you have ever seen in your life.
[SPEAKER_03]: Hmm.
[SPEAKER_03]: She is Elvin, but the years have wrinkled her.
[SPEAKER_03]: To the point that she is, she's pretty small.
[SPEAKER_03]: She's maybe four feet tall at this point, fully standing.
[SPEAKER_03]: very small woman sits and says, seer maran, who have you brought before me?
[SPEAKER_03]: and maran says, they seem to be followers of the flame, the river, and the wilds, and may of smiles and says, well, at last, come sit, [SPEAKER_02]: Is there some sort of like phrase or really specific flame greeting that I could say to kind of vet her a little bit?
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure she wouldn't know it, but...
[SPEAKER_01]: Isn't it might be different like in the church versus here, seems like?
[SPEAKER_03]: In the church, you say may the flame shine brightly upon you, and they return with and also on you.
[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe.
[SPEAKER_02]: May the flame shine brightly on you.
[SPEAKER_03]: Her eyebrows come together a little bit.
[SPEAKER_03]: And she says, thank you.
[SPEAKER_03]: You as well.
[SPEAKER_01]: Please.
[SPEAKER_01]: Sit.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it's all always been sitting since the first time she said sit.
[SPEAKER_03]: Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, [SPEAKER_03]: You must be special for even...
Sear Maran...
To bring you.
[SPEAKER_02]: Uh...
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, I'm making my pilgrimage to the found to the flame.
[SPEAKER_03]: Hmm...
And you too.
[SPEAKER_03]: You also wish to make pilgrimage?
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm working on it.
[SPEAKER_04]: We're primarily supporting why it in his journey.
[SPEAKER_01]: One something we thought he should have to do alone, and we're all kind of working together in service of stopping.
[SPEAKER_01]: Someone we have come to know as the interloper.
[SPEAKER_01]: Mordric might know him as the Red Odd God, and we've heard some other folks call him Rota.
[SPEAKER_03]: Her eyebrows raise, and she says, yes, young Mordric has told us of his past.
[SPEAKER_04]: Young?
[SPEAKER_04]: I think that a lot of people are young to mave.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, is this a subjective thing?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, they're hard.
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, okay, sorry.
[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry.
[SPEAKER_03]: She smiles and says, and how might you go about bringing about the end of the Ender Loper?
[SPEAKER_04]: We don't, Rattlin know at this point, if we're being completely honest, if you're thoughts, we'd be happy to have a little brainstorming session.
[SPEAKER_01]: What?
[SPEAKER_01]: Found out some interesting things about the interlopers relationship with the flame.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, do y'all know that he's feeding on him?
[SPEAKER_03]: That is the legend, yes.
[SPEAKER_04]: Has this been going on for some time then?
[SPEAKER_03]: The legend is older than I.
[SPEAKER_03]: Why internally says damn.
[SPEAKER_03]: She smiles and says, I forget my years, 357 by my last count.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, that's right about where we left off in the history that I was telling them while we were writing here.
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I would love to know the church's history.
[SPEAKER_03]: We don't hear much record out here.
[SPEAKER_03]: Why is that?
[SPEAKER_03]: Why would we be better off?
[SPEAKER_04]: The leadership of the church of the eternal flame these days is Unseemly to say the very least.
[SPEAKER_04]: Child murdering.
[SPEAKER_04]: A dog murdering.
[SPEAKER_04]: Just general murdering.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_03]: It was like that when I was young.
[SPEAKER_04]: Something's done changed then.
[SPEAKER_03]: And some things change in ways that we don't always see.
[SPEAKER_03]: Do you have any books I might be able to look at, or other literature?
[SPEAKER_03]: We don't have books here.
[SPEAKER_03]: Our tales are known by us.
[SPEAKER_03]: Our histories are kept in the oldest books known, and she points to her forehead.
[SPEAKER_03]: We do not write down our tales for that, allows us to forget them.
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, that's...
[SPEAKER_02]: I would love to just sit and listen, but we don't always have that much time.
[SPEAKER_02]: So I kind of got to do it on the go.
[SPEAKER_03]: You go to the, to the found.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_02]: So put on the way I could, if, I mean, if you wanted to come with and tell us the stories, that would be amazing.
[SPEAKER_03]: Why it, I would love to go to the found with you.
[SPEAKER_03]: But I cannot, and I cannot let you go either.
[SPEAKER_03]: Come again, and why is that?
[SPEAKER_03]: is too dangerous.
[SPEAKER_03]: There are people living there now.
[SPEAKER_03]: People who are not accolites of the flame, not followers, not its knights, not its churchgoers.
[SPEAKER_03]: There are those that live among the flame now and have changed it.
[SPEAKER_03]: They're holding up [SPEAKER_03]: We first noticed it when our nights went missing in their evening patrols, rising numbers of bandits in the area.
[SPEAKER_03]: They have been stealing people.
[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know to what purpose, but I trust my nights will not divulge the secret of sacrament.
[SPEAKER_03]: but I cannot trust the three of you with that.
[SPEAKER_02]: Do these people happen to be the order of the first member?
[SPEAKER_03]: I do not know.
[SPEAKER_03]: The order is not well known to me.
[SPEAKER_03]: but these people, these bandits.
[SPEAKER_03]: I do not believe they have sought refuge in the found for its holy significance.
[SPEAKER_04]: So, are you just gonna leave these people behind?
[SPEAKER_04]: Or are we gonna go in there and get them?
[SPEAKER_03]: I have had knights who have sought to go and retrieve them, and they have not returned.
[SPEAKER_02]: Seer-mave?
[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_02]: I have to go one way or the other.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, whether you let us or not, and why it holds up his hand to reveal not a flickering flame, like a fire normally flickers, but like in and out with his powers going away.
[SPEAKER_02]: Roll a D12.
[SPEAKER_02]: Ooh, that's a die.
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't normally roll.
[SPEAKER_02]: Ha ha ha.
[SPEAKER_03]: For this session, you're rolling one less than a D20 every time you cast your spells.
[SPEAKER_05]: Oh no.
[SPEAKER_03]: On a net one, your spell will fizzle.
[SPEAKER_03]: Well good, because that's a two, you're flame flickers above your hand.
[SPEAKER_03]: And she says, may I see her hand?
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, sure.
[SPEAKER_03]: She reaches her tiny elven hands.
[SPEAKER_03]: and gently takes your hand and says, Oh my, you've, you've seen him.
[SPEAKER_03]: That's how we know what we have to do.
[SPEAKER_03]: My dear, the people there wish to take the people of sacrament.
[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know what they wish to do with them.
[SPEAKER_03]: If I were to endanger them, [SPEAKER_03]: I would be unfit to lead them.
[SPEAKER_02]: Then let us go in alone.
[SPEAKER_01]: Seer Mave, I would also...
[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, is that what we should call you?
[SPEAKER_03]: Seer Mave, Mave, either is fine.
[SPEAKER_01]: Seer Mave.
[SPEAKER_01]: I would also wonder if it might be advantageous to have people who aren't just following the flame.
[SPEAKER_01]: If the powers of the flame are flickering because of people drawn too much from it, it might be useful to have folks representing the river in the wilds just there to help in case the flame falters.
[SPEAKER_01]: This might be a good chance to try to do something about this.
[SPEAKER_04]: We are meant to work in concert with one another, not in conflict.
[SPEAKER_01]: Also, Hayden and I did swear a blood oath to protect the people of the Badlands and this seems decidedly kind of in that realm.
[SPEAKER_03]: I ask, I ask for your word.
[SPEAKER_03]: That sacrament will remain secret upon your lips, even on threat of death.
[SPEAKER_04]: I have no love for anyone who would do the flame harm, including those who purport to worship it.
[SPEAKER_01]: On my mama's memory, I ain't telling anybody.
[SPEAKER_02]: Ashes to flame, no one will learn of sacrament.
[SPEAKER_03]: I will need you to roll a group persuasion check.
[SPEAKER_03]: I will take the average of what you all roll.
[SPEAKER_04]: I rolled a five.
[SPEAKER_04]: plus a 16, which is the 21.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: I guess.
[SPEAKER_03]: Never letting y'all persuade anyone.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, SearMave, how far away are we from the fountains of the flame?
[SPEAKER_03]: Within two days, ride.
[SPEAKER_01]: That'll great, then I won't use my channel divinity.
[SPEAKER_02]: Any chance you want to let me roll religions at a persuasion?
[SPEAKER_02]: I will let you use rage.
[SPEAKER_02]: Great, yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: Perfect.
[SPEAKER_01]: That is a 29.
[SPEAKER_01]: Ooh!
[SPEAKER_01]: There it is.
[SPEAKER_02]: And thank you for letting me use for Ligen instead, because that's a 13.
[SPEAKER_02]: Woo!
[SPEAKER_02]: Instead of an 8.
[SPEAKER_02]: Ooh!
[SPEAKER_03]: She looks at the 3 of you.
[SPEAKER_03]: You have my blessing.
[SPEAKER_03]: You may go.
[SPEAKER_03]: Though I wish you would not.
[SPEAKER_01]: Are there any particular people of yours that we ought to be looking for?
[SPEAKER_01]: You got names?
[SPEAKER_03]: These nights would have fought to the death.
[SPEAKER_03]: To avoid giving up the name of sacrament.
[SPEAKER_03]: If they are alive, you will know them.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, Ma'am.
[SPEAKER_03]: Mordrick steps forward and says, By your leave, I would like to go.
[SPEAKER_03]: Hmm.
[SPEAKER_03]: And she says, The Young Mordrick.
[SPEAKER_03]: You are, As of yet, Still in your training.
[SPEAKER_03]: And Mordrick says, I have combat experience.
[SPEAKER_03]: I have led a team.
[SPEAKER_03]: I know evil magic, and I have felt its pull.
[SPEAKER_03]: And she says, nevertheless, I do not consider it advantageous for you to go.
[SPEAKER_03]: You still have much to learn.
[SPEAKER_02]: He kind of owes us a little bit.
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I wasn't gonna say it.
[SPEAKER_02]: He didn't know you shit.
[SPEAKER_02]: He doesn't know what I'm just meeting him for the first time, but from my understanding of this group here, he kinda owes them.
[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, I'm allowed to say shit in here.
[SPEAKER_02]: Hehehehe.
[SPEAKER_02]: She says, you may.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, it's good for all.
[SPEAKER_02]: No, still, watch your language.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, you're right, it feels wrong in here.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: My genuinely be helpful to have somebody else.
[SPEAKER_01]: And as Wyatt can attest to, I know better way to learn than on the job.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
[SPEAKER_03]: Mordrick says, if there is anything I might do to protect this town, I will, and she says, very well.
[SPEAKER_03]: If they will have you, you may go.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, we'll take him.
[SPEAKER_03]: Young Mordrick, I hope desperately to see you become a seer.
[SPEAKER_03]: He nods.
[SPEAKER_03]: He turns to the three of you and says, I know the path to the found.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, darling, we are happy to have you along if you'll take us there.
[SPEAKER_03]: I will.
[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, you are never going to guess who we keep running into.
[SPEAKER_03]: He puzzles.
[SPEAKER_01]: You never rag, Todd.
[SPEAKER_03]: He punches the bridge of his nose.
[SPEAKER_04]: He keeps showing up in danger.
[SPEAKER_04]: He has not improved in any way.
[SPEAKER_04]: You have cleaned up, he has not.
[SPEAKER_01]: We keep running into him, he keeps getting into things.
[SPEAKER_01]: He keeps botting off more than he can chew, and we keep getting them out, but he doesn't think that we're getting them out.
[SPEAKER_01]: He thinks that he's getting them out.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like a whole ego trip.
[SPEAKER_05]: We can talk on the road.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, let's talk on the road.
[SPEAKER_01]: Ma'am, thank you so much for your blessing, uh, Seer Mave.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's an honor to meet you and a very interesting thing to be learning about nights of the flame.
[SPEAKER_03]: She smiles and says, I do hope you will have the chance to return to sacrament.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, man, I think we'd all love to come back and hear some of those stories.
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I have to admit, I'm mad at curious, but the idea of nights of the wilds, but it sounds like they've been long gone, maybe longer than you.
[SPEAKER_03]: They were stories when I was a child, but they were some damn good stories.
[SPEAKER_03]: Perhaps I will prepare a story for each of you upon your return.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, ma'am, sounds like a good time.
[SPEAKER_02]: That's all there were a world I'm looking for.
[SPEAKER_02]: Actually, before we leave, um, I have a couple questions, or one question at least, for Mave?
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, oh, yes.
[SPEAKER_02]: Just curious, do you know anything about facts, the patron of the University of Echo?
[SPEAKER_03]: She, she puzzles for a moment, and says, The name is familiar.
[SPEAKER_01]: I wish I could show ya, I've got his sort of whisp, his soul, tether, but I don't know if you can see it.
[SPEAKER_03]: She frowns, and says, that was a name.
[SPEAKER_03]: In my youth, I walked these mountains, and at times you could swear you could hear voices on the wind.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that might have been him.
[SPEAKER_03]: You have [SPEAKER_03]: is was yes ma'am i do i'm trying to bring it back home to wherever it belongs but i don't know where it goes didn't go across the river like everybody else's then i wish you well in finding that place thank you and young Wyatt yes made the flame shine brightly on you and also on you uh [SPEAKER_03]: She nods and says, at 357, you still learn things.
[SPEAKER_02]: At 13 to 15, you do as well.
[SPEAKER_02]: Ha ha ha ha.
[SPEAKER_02]: Wait, are you not sure?
[SPEAKER_02]: Not thought there was just a methane.
[SPEAKER_02]: Don't question it.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[SPEAKER_02]: I said 15, 15, 15, 15, it is.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's funny at 30, it closes right now.
[SPEAKER_02]: It opens back up in about 150 years.
[SPEAKER_02]: Ha ha ha.
[SPEAKER_03]: And you leave.
[SPEAKER_03]: The doors close behind you, the nights resume their positions.
[SPEAKER_03]: And Marin says, right, we'll guide you to the path of the, of the found.
[SPEAKER_03]: You'll have to be blindfolded again, but we'll get you that far.
[SPEAKER_01]: Honestly, that sounds like it's for the best.
[SPEAKER_01]: If we don't know anything, we can't reveal it.
[SPEAKER_01]: So...
Good boy.
[SPEAKER_03]: And you head out of sacrament.
[SPEAKER_04]: You know that I'm both pipe-a-games that involve getting blindfolded.
[SPEAKER_04]: At least three.
[SPEAKER_02]: Hayden's at peace with this.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's really confident.
[SPEAKER_02]: Why it is kind of concerned because this is all like kidnapping training that he's had to go through is a really rich kid as well as when he's blindfolded.
[SPEAKER_02]: So you're getting, you're getting the deck out of the room.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like a hostage, so yeah, it splashes for when someone holds you hostage.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, just for money.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, just stay calm and wait for the rain some call.
[SPEAKER_02]: That's easy.
[SPEAKER_02]: He's just like, that's his body.
[SPEAKER_02]: Just go limp as soon as he.
[SPEAKER_02]: Just ragdollin.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he just ragdolls.
[SPEAKER_01]: Meanwhile, Solomon makes just chatter and like, oh, see her might actually reminds me a lot of my Nana Eve Briar, she was a, she was a weaver and she would weave these stories that people had into her textiles and so every time you put on a garment that she makes, it's like you could remember the stories that she woven to him even if you weren't there.
[SPEAKER_01]: Ooh, I want a Nana Eve story shirt.
[SPEAKER_03]: You're, you're led out of town.
[SPEAKER_03]: and Oran is again chatting with y'all, oran seems very, very jovial with y'all at this point, is like, you know, it's been so long since we've had visitors and it's kind of, I've always wondered about the church, like, how that works, y'all just going sitting a building all day?
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh yeah, it's great.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's a white, you've got a wrapped audience for church history part four, go for it.
[SPEAKER_04]: Um, y'all have fun.
[SPEAKER_04]: We're just gonna let all horses ease to the back of the line.
[SPEAKER_03]: No, the more the merrier.
[SPEAKER_03]: Marin and Mordrick join y'all towards the back.
[SPEAKER_03]: Why it slows down.
[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, Marin just like shakes her head.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: White continues tertiary from where he left off loudly and turning around often.
[SPEAKER_03]: God, you continue.
[SPEAKER_03]: And there's a certain point where the blindfolds are removed.
[SPEAKER_03]: And orange says, right, uh, this is where we leave off.
[SPEAKER_03]: If you continue down that path, you will come across the entrance to the flint to the found.
[SPEAKER_03]: But I'd scope the place out.
[SPEAKER_04]: Have you heard any messages from anyone who went in before they lost contact?
[SPEAKER_04]: Anyone saying to think about what they'd see?
[SPEAKER_03]: No.
[SPEAKER_03]: Hmm.
[SPEAKER_03]: Just uh...
Bandits.
[SPEAKER_03]: Lots and lots of bandits.
[SPEAKER_01]: Alright, well...
We'll be sure to take your advice.
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll scope the place out and...
We'll just be as careful as we damn well can.
[SPEAKER_03]: Maran says, I hope for our sake.
[SPEAKER_03]: Y'all come back just fine.
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll do our best.
[SPEAKER_03]: You better.
[SPEAKER_03]: and turns to Mordric and says, you really want to do this.
[SPEAKER_03]: Mordric nods.
[SPEAKER_03]: She says, well.
[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
[SPEAKER_03]: Off you go, kid.
[SPEAKER_03]: And Mordric joins the party.
[SPEAKER_03]: T-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t Copyright, Copyright, Copyright, Copyright.
[SPEAKER_03]: It's less than 30 seconds.
[SPEAKER_01]: Mortar, what the hell happened to you?
[SPEAKER_01]: Where are you been?
[SPEAKER_01]: You want to fill us in on where are you been since?
[SPEAKER_01]: You don't always say anything, but I'd love to hear it.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you all start heading along and Mortar says, well, I, I wandered for a long time.
[SPEAKER_03]: I thought that I would die.
[SPEAKER_03]: But there was some part of me that couldn't.
[SPEAKER_03]: It wasn't time.
[SPEAKER_03]: And I stumbled upon an ambush, bandits taking out Knights of the Flame, or who I know now to be Knights of the Flame, and I did what anyone would, I stepped in, fought them off, and [SPEAKER_03]: If I had nowhere else to go, and in sacrament, I found my purpose.
[SPEAKER_01]: Glad to hear it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm real glad you found those folks.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll bet they're real glad you found them, too.
[SPEAKER_03]: Mordric nods and says, if I can safeguard the town of sacrament, then a sort of trail's off, [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think so too.
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm sorry about Stump.
[SPEAKER_03]: The draw of the amulet, the draw of the red I'd God.
[SPEAKER_03]: There's not to be trifled with.
[SPEAKER_04]: You did it to help us.
[SPEAKER_04]: I just think it didn't realize that it'd be tough to pull back once it'd gone in.
[SPEAKER_01]: I will say we're trying not to be too sorry about Stump, just yet.
[SPEAKER_01]: And there's a little bit of an edge to solemnize voice whenever people start grieving Stump, I think, preemptively, and she says, hey, dead yet, as far as we know.
[SPEAKER_03]: So we'll get him back.
[SPEAKER_03]: And as he's talking, you see that he is, he is making something.
[SPEAKER_03]: He's writing in a saddle, and you see that he is twisting bits of twine and stones together.
[SPEAKER_03]: And as he pulls back, you see that he's made a little doll.
[SPEAKER_01]: What's making?
[SPEAKER_03]: He pockets it.
[SPEAKER_03]: He says, [SPEAKER_03]: A doll of stone and twine.
[SPEAKER_03]: They were my daughter's favorite.
[SPEAKER_01]: Hmm.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's real sweet.
[SPEAKER_01]: But she would have loved that one.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think she'd like that you're still making them for her.
[SPEAKER_03]: He says, Honestly, I don't always know that I'm making them.
[SPEAKER_01]: Mordrick, I gotta- Would you be all right if we put in a request?
[SPEAKER_03]: He throws his brow and says, [SPEAKER_01]: I- a commission, if you will.
[SPEAKER_03]: Hmm.
[SPEAKER_03]: I don't sing.
[SPEAKER_04]: No, no, no, no, no.
[SPEAKER_01]: Just don't inside that, the stone inside that doll looks like a real special rock.
[SPEAKER_01]: I had the same thought.
[SPEAKER_01]: And if we can get one of those dolls from you, we can give it a stump to give to his baby girl when he finds her.
[SPEAKER_03]: He takes the doll back from his pocket.
[SPEAKER_03]: And says, [SPEAKER_03]: to his daughter.
[SPEAKER_03]: Then I will gladly give it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, dear heart.
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll take extra special care of it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Watch you and hold on to it.
[SPEAKER_03]: Sure, of course.
[SPEAKER_03]: He hands you the doll.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, shoot, while we're passing things around, we got three superior potions of healing.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to distribute those amongst the group.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, thank you very much.
[SPEAKER_01]: So each have one on us, keep it visible, where other people can sing it on you and use it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, what the fuck, man?
[SPEAKER_01]: It's...
What is your, what is your entire problem, 18?
[SPEAKER_01]: Ha ha ha ha.
[SPEAKER_03]: Solomon, as you are passing out the bottles of healing potions, an arrow, ffff, hits you in the shoulders.
[SPEAKER_01]: Ha ha ha.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, how?
[SPEAKER_03]: Marjorick says shit.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, in the hell.
[SPEAKER_03]: Make perception checks.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, I will.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not taking damage off of that.
[SPEAKER_03]: You take seven points of piercing damage.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a 20 perception check.
[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, a 12 13 Solomey You look you see where the arrow has flown from down This you're sort of now in the in a little ravine [SPEAKER_03]: that is kind of just a winding path at this point.
[SPEAKER_03]: You look ahead and you see someone crouch behind a rock up ahead, drawing another arrow.
[SPEAKER_01]: There, there, there, there, get him.
[SPEAKER_01]: I fire.
[SPEAKER_01]: Cool.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, y'all roll to hit.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll shoot him with that.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's gone too.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's 21 to hit.
[SPEAKER_01]: Why is she doing anything?
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, I roll a D12 to see if my spell happens, yes, and then if it happens, I'll roll the D20s to then do the attack rolls, and do I use the spell slot if I roll a one here, you do, oh, you asshole, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh [SPEAKER_03]: Great, that's a five.
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, okay.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, listen man, I got, I got to get your ass to the found.
[SPEAKER_03]: No, it's never been so heavy to hold a five.
[SPEAKER_01]: In very exciting news, I have three Eldritch Blast Beams now.
[SPEAKER_01]: Jesus.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's a 14, a 26, and a 21 to hit.
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh my God, the 26 and 21 hit.
[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, didn't anything?
[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, 13 damage from my first shot, and I will keep on firing.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, go town.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's a 27 to hit?
[SPEAKER_03]: That hits.
[SPEAKER_04]: Just five damage on the second hit.
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, I rolled a 17 to 22 with a 29 or 26.
[SPEAKER_02]: The 22 and 29 hit.
[SPEAKER_02]: I kid you not, I rolled 46 and I rolled 3-6 is at a 3, so that's 21.
[SPEAKER_00]: Wow, okay, great.
[SPEAKER_01]: Alright, well that's 22 damage and he gets pushed back 20 feet.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, um, Solomon, your blast rocks this man out into the open and then the, like the, the hits from all three of you just pop, pop, pop, pop, hit him in the chest one after the other and he goes sprawling.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, everybody keep an eye out if there's one, there's probably more.
[SPEAKER_03]: You all look, you see another person turn and run from behind the rock that guy was behind, around the corner of the canyon.
[SPEAKER_01]: Hail, uh, I mean, can we shoot at him too?
[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, he is out of sight.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go get him.
[SPEAKER_03]: Y'all, I feel like we're walking into a trap.
[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe we can get him to talk.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Hell, okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, just everybody, watch out.
[SPEAKER_03]: We'll do.
[SPEAKER_03]: Mordric charges ahead.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think we follow him, but I am real careful about it.
[SPEAKER_03]: Great.
[SPEAKER_03]: You all go around the corner and right before you, the canyon abruptly ends in a wall.
[SPEAKER_03]: You look, and there is a rope suspended from the top of the wall, and at the very top, you see the archer scuttling over the top.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't like that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Y'all, this is feeling more, and more like a trap, okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: I fire on the guy.
[SPEAKER_03]: Your arrow pings because he's out of sight now.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I don't know.
[SPEAKER_02]: Do I think we need to follow that person to prevent them from getting back to the others?
[SPEAKER_02]: Or, more direct, do you think we can just kind of [SPEAKER_03]: more dricks says there's more than one way to get to the found.
[SPEAKER_03]: I am worried about them knowing we're here.
[SPEAKER_04]: I think that message has quite literally gotten away from us.
[SPEAKER_03]: Hayden, as you say that.
[SPEAKER_03]: You are all standing at the foot of this cliff face.
[SPEAKER_03]: The rope is dangling it in front of you.
[SPEAKER_03]: The floor drops out from under you.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, this was a damn trap.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, what?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I knew this was a trap.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this felt like a trap.
[SPEAKER_03]: On two large trap door hinges, the floor opens and you all plummet.
[SPEAKER_03]: into the Abyss below, and that is where we'll pick up next time.
