Episode Transcript

Speaker 1

NFL.

Cover Zero with Matt Jones and Drew Franklin is a production of the NFL and iHeart podcast.

It is week two of the Cover Zero NFL podcast.

And of all the locations that I've done a show, I can tell you what I've never done one before, and that's where I am today.

I am in the instelling Bach, South Africa, at a ranch outside of Cape Town, ready to go.

It is local time one.

Am here with Drew Franklin, who is in Louisville.

Billy is in Kentucky as well.

Drew, you know what, I stay up for you, And I don't know if anyone else in this town I'm in is watching the NFL today.

But I was.

Speaker 2

First and foremost glad to see you, Billy.

And I weren't sure that this whole international connection we have set up here would work, But it's working.

Do they have red zone South Africa where you?

Well they do.

Speaker 1

Actually I don't know if the NFL should hear this, but if you get what is it?

A virtual personal network?

So I bought it was twelve ninety nine and uh it says I'm in New York and I guess the people here in South Africa were did not did not dispute it, So I actually I have got it.

It's kind of nice to be able to be here.

You walk outside, I mean it's it's it's march here, right, so if you were to do the weather thing, so it's a little chili outside, a little cold.

This is I'm staying on a This is a wine ranch, like where they make I guess it's not a ranch.

You don't call a wine ranch.

And what a vineyard?

Is that what you would call?

Okay, then your winery.

Yeah, it's like a wine vineyard.

Flew to South Africa fifteen hours.

Fifteen hour flight.

True, that's a long flock.

Now how long you think a fifteen hour flight is?

But it's longer than that.

Speaker 2

So oddly, I know a lot of people want hear our NFL talks.

I want to know what a fifteen hour flight is, Like.

Speaker 1

What do you do?

Speaker 2

I mean, is it just movie?

Speaker 1

Movie?

Speaker 2

Movie?

Speaker 1

So here's what I did.

Got on.

The flight started at nine o'clock out of out of Newark.

The guy got out a little late, and the pilot comes on and goes, all right, we're gonna make up some time in the air, which I think is a really funny thing for a pilot to say, like, just do that anyway, just go fast, It's fine, but we we go.

This is how long a fifteen hour flight is.

I watched the movie The Drop.

Have you ever seen The Drop?

I don't know.

It's a good movie with it.

It's got the woman from White Lotus, the you know, the woman from season two, the blonde woman who has kid that has different color eyes than the dad.

Okay, so it has that woman a dude that I'm not familiar with, and they go on a date and she keeps getting dropped messages from someone who's threatening her that keeps dropping, and they know he's in the restaurant because it strites great.

So I watched that.

Then I watched not one, but two episodes of Gilded Age, and I'm like, okay, flight must be over now, and there are still nine and a half hours to go after that.

That is how long a flight to South Africa is.

You can watch an entire movie, two Gilded Age episodes and you're not You're barely a third of the way there.

Speaker 2

So do you, like, do you get up and walk around?

I'd worry about my legs, like you just do?

Do yoga in the in the aisle there, how do you stretch?

Speaker 1

Point?

At what point I stretched?

I was sitting next to you know, I I just blurged a little bit.

So I was a business class and there was a South African family.

Uh there there were two parents that were very obnoxious.

I'm just gonna go on record as saying kids should not be allowed to fly first class.

Like when you're a kid, you shouldn't get that experience, right, I mean, they give them like a razor and lotion.

What's a kid gonna do with that?

Make your kids sit in economy first class?

Yeah, their legs aren't as long.

Speaker 2

They barely touched the end of the seat as it is.

Put them, put them in the overhead bed.

Actually, don't even give them a seat.

I'm not if I would make my kids sit acon.

You need to learn a lesson, kid.

You do not get to sleep, you know, you don't get to sit up here.

So they got on the plane.

Speaker 1

They started snoring immediately, and I just was staring them down angry.

Speaker 3

Yeah.

Speaker 1

I walked around, did a little stretching, tried not to you know, stick my button people's faces while I was stretching, But it was good.

It's a long flight.

I mean, what's weird is you leave New York and it's nine pm and it's dark, And when I landed in Johannesburg it was seven pm the next day and dark, so I never saw any sunlight.

A day just completely escaped without me seeing it.

That was kind of strange.

Speaker 2

Just a day off, your life gone, just gone, nothing to show for.

Speaker 1

It's just what I could have accomplished in that day instead I was sitting on that on the plane.

But we're here.

It's a beautiful, beautiful cut.

I haven't gotten to do a lot because then I got here and immediately I'm at this conference and I was like, all right, everybody, I gotta go.

I gotta go watch the NFL for a podcast, which is exactly what people want to do in South Africa.

I'm gonna be here for the next two and a half weeks, so our next four episodes will all be me somewhere in South Africa.

Speaker 2

Well, so far, so good.

On the technology standpoint, we were a little concerned heading in, but you sound loud and clear and glad to be linked.

Speaker 1

Up with you from the other studies.

To be in like the other side of the world and still get to hear I an equal on the Titans game.

I had them all day.

I want you to think about for a second.

You know, it wasn't that long ago.

It was only like one hundred and fifteen years ago, was when the first flight took place.

And you know, back then you couldn't even talk to somebody unless they lived on your street, Like you didn't even know there was anybody else in the world.

And now you can get on a plane, fly to the other end of the world, and it's as if Iron Eagle is still on your lap the whole time.

Not that he's on my lap in Kentucky often.

I'm just saying it still feels it still feels good that's able to happen.

Speaker 2

And I mean, who else would you want to take with you all around the world except Iron Eagle.

Speaker 1

He could fit in the overhead compartment.

I had something to say.

Speaker 2

About that later because he was on my Titans game.

But it's good.

You got to stay in.

Speaker 1

Touch with those You make me say that about him, that it was a very nice nice at all.

Well, so you know, we watched a lot of the games going through I want to go through them with you.

I picked out six that I thought were kind of the biggest games of the day with the biggest storylines, and then we'll run through the rest of them here over the course of the next hour.

All right, let's just started here.

Two games to begin.

We'll do the Cardinals and the Panthers a little bit later.

But Chiefs and Eagles Super Bowl rematch just finishes and you get a win by the Eagles twenty seventeen.

Patrick Holmes throws a deep pass late, but they can't get a stop and the Eagles win.

I think the storyline in this game is the drop by Travis Kelsey that leads to an interception.

If he catches that, there's a very good chance that the Chiefs win the game, because they were driving to score and take the lead, ends up turning the other way.

Eagles score a touchdown.

Twenty ten?

Was this the day drew the music died?

Is this the day that the era that we love Patrick Trevy Andy and his mustache?

Does it end today?

With that drop?

Speaker 2

You know, he's got a lot of criticism.

Speaker 1

Trevy, by the way, but go ahead.

Speaker 2

He's gotten a lot of criticism.

A lot of people are like, man, just retire, Go be a billionaire with your soon to be wife, and I want him to beat those allegations.

I want him to be like, I got a little bit more left, but I got to be honest as a fan.

First game, he runs into Worthy and hurts some Second game, this perception on the goal line was horrible, even kind of like threw it up a little bit where it could get caught by the Eagles.

He has two huge errors for a thirteen year veteran in two games.

I'm worried that there are there is some truth to that.

Kelsey should have just gone and shut it down.

Speaker 1

Is it just married life?

I mean, you're you're you're married.

I'm not.

You've been engaged.

You know when you get engaged, I know your priorities change.

Is it just married life?

Or is it that he's old.

I don't want him to go out like this.

I like him, and I don't we need to go out with her at the super Bowl and him there and it's like a music video.

He can't go out finishing seven and ten and being replaced by a younger version of him.

Right that dates Tate mccry.

Speaker 2

Look at Tate McCray mintioned on covers, Look at that we skew young, Let's go Tate mccry.

Speaker 1

I don't think I know who that is, but I've heard the name.

Speaker 2

I'm so young that as soon as we're done here, I'm going to a Google Goo Goo Dolls concert.

Speaker 1

That's all.

Speaker 2

You'll know, the Blues Travelers opening, So I'll tell you all on Wednesday.

Speaker 1

That's true, right after the ship We're Going Crazy is played at the Yogurt Store tomorrow, so I'm going back.

Speaker 2

But I don't I don't need Kelsey to ride off into the sunset with a ring and Taylor Swift performing and it's this big NFL love story at the super Bowl coming up.

I just need him to not run into Xavier Worthy and not babble a pass on the goal line that absolutely changed that game.

That's what makes it so sad.

If they make the playoffs and get knocked out in the first round, that's the end whatever.

He had a good run, but it's sad seeing the two mistakes that he's made in the first two weeks of this season.

Speaker 1

Well, you know, if it is the case that time is ended for Taylor and that it's he's going to be replaced by someone new and exciting.

I have another idea.

I feel like NFL Cover zero can then replace New Heights as well.

Let me make the case, all right, you and I are not brothers.

Boy, we've known each other long enough that we're almost like brothers.

I am kind of the louder one.

You're the funnier, nicer one.

You're funnier, nicer, You have the beard, you have a you have a married life, you can slay.

I could see you going through a table.

I do not date a pop star, but I did pick broccoli out of Natalie and Brulia's teeth one Time's Travis Matt Taylor true story, which is essentially the same as Mary Taylor's with so uh no, I'm sorry, not nat They're not the same people.

Speaker 4

I'm written.

Speaker 2

You pick, you pick food out of so many pop stars teeth they all run together.

Speaker 1

Who's Natalie That is a person?

Though?

Speaker 2

Is that she's opening for Blues Traveler at the concert I'm going to next.

Speaker 1

So I mean that's close to Natasha betting Field.

But anyway, I actually have done that.

So I feel like Travis exits football, we take over New Heights, and Natasha betting Field and I can have the next celebrity wedding.

Do you like the idea?

Speaker 2

I think this is perfect.

I mean, if I'm them, I'm shaking in my boots.

Look at this podcast right now, knowing that Natasha, betty Field, Natalie Imbruia got broccoli picked out of her team, and that dollar tree Jason Kelsey.

Speaker 1

Here is ready to go.

You are a little bit of a dollar tree, Jason Kelsey, I throw it out a little more.

I need to get I need to get a mustache and then I'll just I'll be exactly like Travis.

But Eagles get the wed there too?

And oh are you?

Are you out on the Chiefs yet?

Oh and two, it's only like ten percent of the teams that going to ever make the playoffs?

Are you done?

Speaker 4

I was?

Speaker 2

I had them in the playoffs, But this is a Bills or Ravens AFC for me.

That it's it's turned in the last year or two.

But I don't have them as bad as they they are off to the start the Z and too.

They got to be better than this.

They're not a super Bowl contender for me.

Speaker 1

I mean, both things have been close, and they've played good teams.

I mean, but let me let me read you their next few games.

All right, So they've got the Giants on the road, gotta win that.

Then they host the Ravens.

Not easy.

Then at the Jaguars host, the Lions host, the Raiders host the Commanders, go to the Bills.

Speaker 2

That's a nasty schedule, and go to the Broncos.

Speaker 1

I mean that's a that is a brutal schedule.

Let me just say, like them making the playoffs is not a shirt, right, I don't know.

Speaker 2

I mean they've won that division for several years in a row.

I mean the Broncos look good.

Chargers already beat them.

You're down a game to the Chargers, sule.

Speaker 1

In terms of games that I would say they're definitely gonna win, Like, no question.

You got the Giants, the Titans, but the everybody else they play is good.

Like I mean, they they the season from Hell is at least on the table.

Speaker 2

Even that at Jacksonville.

I mean they should win that, but I mean it's a it's not a lock.

Speaker 1

Gotta win next week Giants is a must win.

If they lose, then I will take over for Travis Kelsey.

All right, now we'll go to Seahawks, Steelers.

Okay, kind of fact, Yeah, all right, Billy, you got it.

We're gonna for each of these games, we're gonna do a fun fact from Billy, at least from the good games.

Billy, what's your fun fact?

For Eagles Chiefs?

Speaker 4

Since twenty twenty one, the Eagles have run the tush push one hundred and fifty times.

They did it twice in the fourth quarter back to back times to score a one yard touchdown.

Speaker 1

How many of those hundred and fifty of they've gotten.

Speaker 4

Don't have that number, but the next close.

Speaker 1

So that's that is not that great interesting because what if they hadn't gotten it any of the times?

I mean I could have gone zero for one hundred and fifty on it.

Speaker 4

Yeah, I just hate it.

Just a boring play?

Speaker 1

Do you hate it?

Why do you hate it?

Speaker 4

Oh, let's just let's all do a quarterback sneak and push the guy in front of us.

Exciting play.

Speaker 1

So you just you want excitement?

You don't care?

Speaker 4

Effect doesn't do it for me?

Speaker 1

No, it's so's to go on the record, Billy is against the tush push.

I generally speaking, I have always been of the view stop it.

And then they got rid of the shift in baseball and it made baseball objectively better once they did it.

I'm kind of the point that I think we got to start considering getting ready of toush push because it makes these third and ones and fourth and ones for Philadelphia just completely uninteresting.

Speaker 2

Yeah, especial when they get two looks at it.

I was all for it that they found a little bit of a way to game the system.

Clearly they have an advantage that no one else figured out.

But it is to the point where maybe we should tighten up the rules a little bit where they can't get away with it.

Speaker 1

Don't do it as well as they do, you know what I mean.

Speaker 2

That's that's why part of me wants to give them credit for figuring it out.

Speaker 1

Yeah I do.

There's there's part of me that said, look, it's not like every team can do this, so maybe they should be rewarded.

I think they end up keeping it.

But this morning time here for all things.

Speaker 3

Cheeks all right.

Speaker 1

Second game of the day, probably the wildest one drew Cowboys beat the Giants in overtime forty thirty seven.

I know you're a secondary Cowboys fan, but amongst Cowboys Giants game, this has got to be one of the craziest.

What three touchdowns in the last couple of minutes.

I have a sixty four yard field goal, you have an interception that was completely unnecessary to give the game to Dallas.

What a wild win and one that for the Giants.

That one's got a stink after.

Speaker 2

Sunday Night football last week, I thought we had our game of the year.

But I'm ready to replace it in Week two a Bills.

I know, I know Cowboys Giants doesn't have the impact of that game, but just from a sheer entertainment standpoint, this game was seventeen to sixteen at the end of the third quarter.

They went on a score forty four more points, just trading licks back and forth.

It's a long touchdown to Wan del Robinson, Neighbors with a bomb Dak leading them back the other way.

They're just trading licks and it looks like when Neighbors gets the touchdown, they've gone up three and there's not enough time left for the Cowboys to have an answer.

But Brandon Aubrey and these new kicker football kickers, is I don't understand sixteen three yards and as a Cowboys fan, it's the last leg of my parlay.

Also and my survivor pick with you all.

So I'm fully invested, and I'm livid because I thought Schottenheimer messed up.

They he hands off a draw instead of trying to go farther to settle for a sixty four yard field goal, even awn yard field goal.

Even the announcers are like, what are they?

This is kind of a gamble.

They could have gotten a few more yards.

But then in Aubrey, well exciting game.

Speaker 1

Here is how I was at a dinner and we had a South African journalist speaking, and I had made a deal with the leader of my group that I was going to go ahead and have Red Zone on my phone under the table.

Okay, so uh, you know, which is what you do.

You don't want to have it on the table when a South African journalist is speak is speaking with you, you have it under the table.

So I would look down like I was looking at my feet, but I was watching Red Zone and Wandell Robinson scores that touchdown for the Giants, and you know he was he went to Kentucky, which is which is our school.

And I got excited and kind of hit the person next to me and said wan Dell, and the person next to me is a woman that I don't think has ever watched football before, and she had to look like, Okay, no reason to hit me.

And I don't know what that means.

And it was like a love tap on the leg, but uh, yeah, you shouldn't do that because I lost service and I didn't get to see the end, and so I missed the insanity and it came right back on when we had the sixty four yard field goal.

Speaker 2

Well, I think one Delle's touchdown came with two minutes left.

Kentucky guy that was sharing from the Cowboys.

I also yelled at Wandell.

I was upset.

I thought that was the game.

No, there was still two more touchdowns after that, and the sixty four yard field goal in in overtime.

We didn't mention this yet.

The Giants were in a no loose scenario.

Speaker 1

They have the ball, You're not gonna lose.

The Keynair, at least, in my opinion, is do not lose.

And they found a way to do the one thing you would do, which is throw an interception and loose.

Speaker 2

And Russell had such a great game otherwise, over four hundred yards, the big throws to Robinson and neighbors in the fourth quarter, but he just basically punted to the Cowboys on a deep ball into double coverage that didn't stand a chance.

I mean, the Cowboys secondary basically calls a fair catch, waiting for the ball to land in his arms.

It was such a love throw to him, and then Dak eads him down for Arbuty to kick the game winner.

So you will look for Russ.

Speaker 1

If you, well, do you feel like I mean, Russ played pretty well until that.

Uh, there there were fans all week wanting Jackson Dart.

I don't think you go to him yet, right, I mean, even though they're only too rusty enough to keep the job, wouldn't you agree?

Speaker 2

Yeah, Russell looked really good the interception aside.

Up until that point, he didn't have any turnovers, three touchdowns.

There was a moment where dark came in the game for one play and even the announcers thought they were making a coaching change.

Speaker 1

But it's just kind of a coaching chase, a quarter change.

I think they should make the coaching change.

Speaker 2

They even fooled the announcers because they're like, oh, they're benching Russell Wilson and he's having a good game.

That is weird, but it was a one off.

But the crowd did get into a little bit when Dark came in, but it was just one step there.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I think you keep Russell and for the Cowboys, that's a big win that keeps their fan base from from losing it.

I still don't understand, like on that last overtime drive, I still don't understand coaches and time management.

Uh, it's awful, even from even from NFL coaches, they don't understand it.

The one thing you got to do there either tie or lose or excuse me, tie or win.

The one thing you're not going to do is lose.

And the Cowboys found a way to do it, and that's part of the reason are seeing.

The Giants found a way to do it, and that's one of the reasons that they, you know, have the problems that they do.

Bengals get a win against the Jaguars.

We'll talk about the game, but the big story is Joe Burrow apparently a toe injury, likely out for a few weeks.

The Bengals are two to zero, though, so after years of starting poorly, if you're ever going to have a time to lose your quarterback for a little bit.

This is it, but they end up still winning the game.

I do think that's important because these are games.

If you look at Week one and two, those are games in the last five years, Bingles have lost that game time and time and time again, and this time they win it.

You know, Jake Browning is this.

Jake Browning goes ninety two yards on the five old drive.

Jake Browning may not have to buy Skyline Chili in that town for a long time, right.

Speaker 2

He looked pretty sloppy until that point, but when he put the game winning drive together to put them up two to oh on the year, you know it's a big game.

But either team could have gone to oh and Jake Browning does it for the Bengals.

Sadly, Bingles fans have kind of gotten used to Jake Browning because they don't have a good job of Burrow.

But a huge win for the Bengals, and no surprise that Jamar Chase got going especially early with Burrow after last week that offense looked so bad.

The Bengals at least got thirty one points and look to have some Jake Browning.

Speaker 1

Let's take about Jake Browning for a second.

Jake Browning.

I'm gonna give you some Jake Browning facts, all right, because I love when a good backup quarterback comes in Jake Browning.

Do you know where he was drafted?

Oh?

Like, where to which?

What team?

Oh?

I have no clue where he was drafted.

He was not drafted.

He was as an undrafted free agent from the Minnesota Vikings.

Do you know where he went to college?

I know he's Pack twelve, former Pac twelve.

He's all good call Washington, Washington.

That's exactly right.

Speaker 2

I was saying it as you said.

I'm counting that he went to Fulsome High school in California, home of Fulsome Prison Blues.

Speaker 1

That's right.

The Johnny Cash song was sung in his home, his home county.

I had no word if he actually went to Fulsome prison at any point.

He has the national record for most touchdowns in high school.

That's probably something you didn't know.

And this is kind of interesting.

He committed the University Washington.

He got a degree in business, and he was direct This is on his Wikipedia.

He was directly admitted to the Foster School of Business as part of his recruitment.

Apparently that's a hard school to get in.

At Washington.

They went ahead as part of his recruitment and guarantee in him admission into the diff occult class at the Foster School of Business.

Should that be in a legal recruiting violation?

Speaker 2

Yes, that makes me angry.

I have a personal story here.

Not only did he make the NFL, which is against the odds, I got denied business school and I had to write a letter to get accepted.

Luckily they accepted my letter.

But I had to go to like this second step and beg to get in.

I mean you went to business school.

Yeah, I got in College of Business for undergrad and I started to go get my MBA and then this little job called Kentucky.

Speaker 1

Sports Dad, I'd like to see what you would have done with your MBA.

Speaker 2

Well, Jake Browny, but I can't get into business school and they're just giving him admission just to come play football.

Speaker 1

You also didn't break Mattie Mock's high school football touchdown record.

Travis Hunter big pass interference there towards the end of the game, and then Trevor Lawrence and Liam Cohen.

Listen, I've seen the hand gestures and facial expressions of couples that are on the Rocks.

I've seen when they look at each other and then go shut up.

I don't want to hear it.

This is week two for them, and they already have a look of a couple that I'm going to start thinking, you know what, I'm not sure if this is gonna work.

Speaker 2

Yeah, and I did some snooping on the Jaguars Twitter, the Jaguars message board.

Those things do exist.

By the way, there's a Jaguars message board.

Yeah, they're very worried about the Cohen Lawrence connection.

They thought they had this great offensive mind coming in to get Lawrence back on the right track.

But a little bit of a disappointing after he's a college star looking like it's in trouble already.

I don't know which one's got to go, But those two aren't on the same page.

You got Cohen hitting them in the chests like this.

Well, I changing the play.

Speaker 1

Cohen needs to chill out, all right.

So he was doing that Wolf of Wall Street like Liam stopped.

Dude, You like, stop it, Liam, you are a don't work alright, we know it.

The NFL guys, it's the same thing with Mike McDaniel.

Dude's coaching in Florida.

Just be the dork you are.

Stop trying to be a tough guy.

If I was Trevor Lawrence, you know, Trenor Lawrence with that hair, to go through life with that hair, he's a lot tougher than Liam, I would just tell him Liam stop it and then and just act like a dorky coach and not like a tough football guy.

They do look in trouble.

Although they scored twenty seven.

I still think the Jaguars are going to win that division depending on what happens.

Now for each of these games, as we said, we're gonna have Billy's fact of the game.

I actually skipped over the Cowboys Giants.

What was your Cowboys Giants fact?

Billy?

Speaker 4

Yeah, the Giants have struggled in that series.

They've lost nine consecutive games on the road versus Dallas and now overall sixteen of the last seventeen games played, and.

Speaker 1

Dallas hasn't even been that good during that period of time.

Sixteen of the last seventeen.

That's pretty bad, all right.

So now, Bengals Jaguars, what's your fun fact for this one?

Speaker 4

Yeah, it's been slow starts lately for Cincinnati and Zach Taylor.

But Cincinnati is now two and oh the first time since twenty eighteen.

And to go along with that game, Travis Hunter had eighty one snaps, forty two on offense, thirty nine on defense.

Speaker 1

Do you blame that for the past interference there at the end?

Speaker 4

Do I blame him?

Speaker 1

Or asking Drew?

But you could jump in too if you want to do if do you blame it, you blame I mean eighty one snaps, that's a lot.

Speaker 2

Yeah, and I know it's it's fun to see someone do this and try to go both ways.

They need to lock him in on offense.

I know he played a lot more defense last week after played six snaps a week ago, but there's been a couple mistakes.

It's like that is just asking so much of a person to know two positions in the NFL and not just know them, like, be it actual he's a starting receiver in the second quarterback, Like that's too much to ask a p I'm not even sure.

Speaker 1

I don't know that I see the value yet because I'm not sure that he's a lead at each of them yet.

My question would be, are you gonna ever if you're playing in a Super Bowl are you gonna blame eighty one place?

If the answer is no, then why are you doing it now?

Right?

I think I think it makes much more sense to pick one side than put him in spots on the other.

But to try to do that like he did tonight, I think you're gonna get that result most of the time.

But congrats to the Bengals.

W win and we'll see what happens with Burrow.

Luckily it's not an injury.

It seems like they will keep him out for the year.

But the Bengals have a two and zero start, so that will help Patriots and Dolphins.

Dolphins look like most of the game they were gonna be able to win this end up losing it at the end.

You know this was to me, I don't know, man to that interception was awful.

I know his offensive line doesn't do any any help, but I think to A I don't I don't know, man.

I feel like the Tua era is coming to an end, and it makes me sad.

Speaker 2

I thought that last week.

I thought, literally they were just gonna shut down the Dolphins organization a week ago.

If they game it were better this week, much better.

Now they were a red zone watch for me.

So I only saw when we're cutting to them because something's happening.

But they're put up a lot of points.

Speaker 1

There's a lot of stuff happened to go back to back return touchdowns.

You don't ever see that got them in back to back?

Which do you like the new rule, by the way, that seems to encourage guys to run it out.

I don't.

I have to tell you, I don't understand the rule.

It seems like guys stand still and then some old man on the sideline goes, okay, now you can go, and they kick it short.

And I can't figure out the logistics of it, but it does seem to make it more exciting.

Speaker 2

I'm still getting used to that.

I have it come to a complete verdict on it if I like it or not.

I think I lean I missed the old way, but I understand for safety while they had to do it.

But you mentioned the back to back returns in this game, it's like a seventy four yard pump return.

Guys going crazy, swings momentum and the Dolphins away and then boom, Patriots kick return the other way.

That was one of my favorite moments of the day.

If Red zone just happen to be on that getting to I think the kick return was one hundred yards, so you got two yards.

I'm nearly linked to the field return now, making it to whar I guess.

Speaker 1

I guess the goal is to pin them at the like one yard line when they catch it every time, and it leads to a lot more excitement.

I mean, I think they had more returns in Week one than they had in the first three or four weeks combined last year, and then you get these kicks this year.

I think the kicking game is now the return game is part of football against so I like it.

Patriots one and one, Dolphins are zero and two.

We definitively said to Dolphins were the worst team in the NFL last week.

Are you are you gonna change that?

Speaker 2

I'll admit I'm guilty, and we know there's overreactions after Week one.

I was ready to shut down the Dolphins forever and really cut off Miami from the rest of the state of Florida.

They look so bad, but much better showing today gets the Patriots.

You know they're not a playoff team, but they aren't absolute suck like they were.

Speaker 1

I still think they're the worst team.

I think you're gonna end up with the situation about three or four weeks two is not playing anymore, and they're gonna be hideous.

I'm gonna go ahead and predict they're finishing three and fourteen, because look at they're still the worst team.

Are you know?

You think there'll be somebody worse than three or fourteen?

Speaker 2

Saints really suck and the Titans come.

Speaker 1

Yeah, but it's gonna be hard.

Like you look at that Miami schedule, find me wins.

It's not easy.

It's not easy to find a bunch of them.

This was I mean home against the Patriots was one of the ones you've thought like they might have the best chance.

Billy, what's your fun fact?

Speaker 4

New England scored thirty points in a game for the first time since October of twenty twenty two.

Speaker 1

That can't be true.

Really, that's it yet, Billy, that's not true.

I'm throwing a child.

It's funny that you're telling me they have scored points since October twenty twenty two.

Speaker 2

It's a good stat, Billy.

Efcaccurate.

Speaker 3

Billy.

Speaker 1

If that's listen, if that stat is accurate, then I'm going to bring you back some famous stelling Bach wine, because apparently it's very famous.

I didn't know it this was even a city, but apparently Stellingbock wine is known for it's taste, and Billy, if if I don't think that fact is right, can you double check that.

Speaker 4

I will double check and I will start to look up Stellenbach to see what flavor of wine that i'd like.

Speaker 1

Is that red wine.

Speaker 2

I don't want Billy to spill red wine on a state lege Jersey om.

Speaker 1

You know we have both ralige.

It's s t O E L l E N S b O E c H.

That's how you.

Speaker 2

I was trying to follow that.

That was a lot of letters, So I was trying to.

Speaker 1

Keep up with That was a lot.

Wait a minute, I still got more letters to come.

That was just the first half.

Speaker 2

Was backing up in gifts on this podcast.

By the way, this is we keep the shirta.

Speaker 1

Okay, So they tell you and by the way, one of the things they tell you in South Africa when you're in I was in Johannesburg last night.

They're like, do not go out in Johannesburg at night without someone with you, Like, don't don't walk down the streets, et cetera.

And they get you to where they're almost You're kind of scared, right, like, what could possibly what could possibly be happening?

So I'm staying in this hotel, Drew.

There's a yogurt store directly across the street.

I can see it.

Okay, we're in like a neighborhood.

Literally, this could be anywhere in America.

You would see the yogurt and you would see the place, and you go, I can go get that yogurt.

Right.

So I walked the front desk and I say, I'm gonna go walk and they go, where are you going?

And I was like, well, first of all, none of your business, right, money business.

I'm a free man, right, I'm for it.

I said, I'm going across the street to get yogurt.

And they go, we'll send somebody with you, and I went, what with you?

I'm not a child's right there?

And I said that won't be necessary, and they're like, and because I'm thinking they're wanting to tip, right, That's what I'm thinking.

So I said it's not necessary.

They're like, okay.

So then I walk across the street.

Well it cursed to me as I'm walking across the street.

Maybe this is really bad, but they are if they don't even want me to walk across the street, well, walk across street.

Walk in the yogurt store.

Beautiful yogurt store.

Okay, the kind of yogurt store that when you think about yogurt, you think about this place.

I walk up to the front this counter.

The woman goes, how did you get here?

I said, I walked across the street, and she gave me a look like whoa.

I didn't know I had mister Brave here.

So she asked me what I wanted, and I said I would like one scoop of strawberry yogurt and a strawberry lemonade.

And then she looks at me and goes, okay, mister strawberry, which I thought, well, there's no need to judge my order like that.

What's wrong with two strawberries?

But now they've kind of freaked me out, Drew.

I have my yogurt, I have my lemonade.

There's no one around, but now I'm scared to leave the yokres And I walk outside and the man from the hotel runs across the street to meet me to walk me back to the hotel.

And I have to tell you for my purposes it was fined.

But now I do have to wonder, like, what is happening at this yogurt store where everyone is so scared about just walking to the yogurt store.

Speaker 2

Matt died doing what he loves.

You're going to get South African yogurt across the street.

Speaker 1

Mister Strawberry died the way he loved to live.

Speaker 2

Did you consider getting the security for the trip back after a second opinion has told you this is well?

Speaker 1

They did.

At the moment, I thought it was so ridiculous that I wouldn't walk across the street.

But then you know, you start to think, and you go, maybe this is this yogurt source just all on elaborate plot.

Speaker 2

It's up front for kidnapping.

Its yogurt gate in South Africa.

Speaker 1

So if I just with a record, if I were to disappear the next two and a half weeks, first place I would look is at the yogurt store in Johannesburg.

Speaker 2

Billy, we'll follow the trails.

Speaker 1

Strawbery's your stab, correct?

Speaker 4

It is the last time the Patriots scored thirty points October sixteenth, twenty twenty two at the Cleveland Browns.

They won thirty eight to fifteen.

The most points the Patriots scored in one game last year was twenty five.

Speaker 1

Wow, that's amazing.

That's a that isn't offensively a net team.

If that becomes your your most amount of points, all right, Seahawks, Steelers.

This is the Aaron Rodgers that I was hoping for this year.

And Aaron Rodgers that throws two interceptions, has a day's look in his eye, makes Mike Tomlin punt because he's worried that he's not going to be able to convert any fourth downs.

This is the Aaron Rodgers I signed up for, not the Aaron Rodgers we saw last week throwing it all over the field.

I'm mad.

Speaker 2

I'm mad.

Matt I ranked the Steelers as my thirty second watchable team.

I said they're gonna suck Aaron Rodgers has done.

Then last week they look like a Super Bowl contender, made my take look terrible.

And then this week, even though they weren't just they weren't horrible, but Rodgers did throw two interceptions.

You lose the game I thought they should have won.

I think maybe a little bit of an overreaction from Week one this Steelers are probably a playoff contender team, but not one of the elite AFC fighting for an actual run team.

Speaker 1

Seahawks did what the Seahawks did, what probably the jet should have done more of last week, which put pressure, just pressure pressure.

Aaron Rodgers does not want to be hit.

It's clear when you get old, there's some things that don't go well for you.

When I will tell you this, when I got off that plane after that fifteen hour flight, my back was left in Mogadishu like it.

It hurt and it took a while.

That's what happens when you get old.

Aaron Rodgers does not want to get fall to the ground.

He doesn't want to get hit.

You got to bring the pressure.

Seattle did that and they get the win.

Are they like sneaky?

Potentially really good?

I mean, that's a good win to go on the road and win at Pittsburgh.

Hey, by the way, but it's but it's still a very good win.

Speaker 2

And I mean a week ago you'll you lose on an improbable completion there in the end zone.

They should be two and oh right now, yeah, and really threatening.

They're looking good.

The Darnold experience has a little bit of legs a little bit.

But on the Steelers end, they have like win now mode because Rogers, we can all agree, doesn't have a lot left.

Speaker 1

I don't think it's a long term option.

Speaker 2

But I mean they also paid a lot of money for Jalen Ramsey, who probably don't have a lot left.

He's looking good right now, but he's also an older guy.

You went out and you get DK Metcalf.

He's young, but he was expensive.

So they're all in on kind of winning immediately.

Speaker 1

And they're going to be just good enough to not get one of the top picks.

So it's gonna be It's just a I'll never understand why they did.

Aaron Rodgers I thought last week after he played well, I might eat my words.

This was more kind of what I expected all along.

Billy fun Fact on Steelers Seahawks, Well.

Speaker 4

Yeah, and Caleb Johnson turning his back on that kickoff was bizarre too.

But the Steelers were outscored in the final two quarters twenty four to three.

It's the first time the Steelers have given up thirty points in consecutive games since November of twenty twenty one.

So trouble in Paradise when it comes to Steelers to get you.

Speaker 1

I mean, I love when you come up with all these Well I want to ask.

I don't want to know how the sausage is made.

I don't want to know where Billy's getting these numbers.

I want to think that are they?

Are you go next Gin.

Speaker 4

Some scribul screw a little next gen?

Okay, the first part of the screen that you can watch without subscribing.

Speaker 1

Yes, you go to next Gin and you read the part of the article that's.

Speaker 4

Really we just get like the summary, and then maybe a couple of bull points on the quarterbacks.

Speaker 2

Oh, we gotta get you to log in.

Speaker 1

Come on.

I love it so like people can predict the Billy stat of the game by just going not logging in and whatever you see there, Billy's gonna be using one of those.

Speaker 4

All that, we'll have all that info every week.

Speaker 1

Glad didn't know that.

Speaker 2

We'll get you follow the paywall eventually.

Speaker 1

Yeah, well, we're gonna have to get a second season.

I think first before that, forty nine Ers and Saints Mac Jones who Mac Jones three touchdowns?

Speaker 4

Uh?

Speaker 1

Coming off the bench for Brock Party, I said the forty nine Ers can get a cra record.

They could have lost both of these games to start the year, but they've won them both and are two and zero.

Yeah, I think the Saints are the worst team in the league.

And I was a little worried about the Niners, even though playing a horrible team, because their injury report was ruthless this week, especially offensively.

Speaker 2

That's how you end up with Mac Jones.

But uh, not a drop off at all without having party.

Mack looked great, three touchdowns, no interceptions.

Uh got Juwan and Jennings and Christian McCaffrey going, so they got a little life.

Speaker 1

What is less intimidating than the UH play two minutes to go When we come back, Spencer Rattler has the ball to drive down the field and take the lead.

How many teas that was a tease that occurred today.

I have to tell you it wasn't one that I found very compelling.

Or do you was I wrong to kind of assume the result we got?

Speaker 2

No, But if you and if you're a Saints fan and you have Spencer Rattler, you should have this.

Well, at least we drafted a rookie we can go to.

But how do you get excited for Tyler Shuck.

Speaker 1

From Louisville eight.

Speaker 2

He's old, so it's not like you have a guy on the bench you're excited to, like, let's see what he's got.

I just think they're in a bad spot in the quarterback position right on.

I don't know how you get that bat off where your options are Rattler and Tyler Schuck.

But that's what the Saints are.

Luckily, they'll have the number one pick next year with a lot of quarterbacks on the board.

Speaker 1

So they will have their their choice of them next year.

Speaker 2

Although Aldo Smyer from LSU is about to.

Speaker 1

Be the same in college or all the guys that everybody thought were going to be good.

I mean, at different points this year I saw arch Manning projected number one, Leonora Sellers, Kay klutt Nick, all those guys.

Not Smyer has been okay, DJ lagway through for five interceptions.

I mean, this class that was supposed to be unbelievable quarterbacks, I don't know.

I mean what it's the Saints save all that up and get a and no one's good.

Speaker 2

I actually today went to a mock draft that's not even that old.

I won't name the publication, but I was trying to see who my Titans can get to block for cam Ward.

We'll get to that later, but arch Manning was second on this MOG draft, and I thought, oh, we got to get this updated after what he's done the last time.

Speaker 1

But he hasn't even been as bad as some of these other guys have been.

It's a DJ Lagway with five interceptions.

Anyway, Mac Jones a choice.

Nice to have him back in our lives.

As I've said, the worst thing about Mac Jones is, you know, sometimes people think his name is Matt Jones, and matter of fact, most people do.

And I just get people angry at the way he plays.

And I guess they put Matt Jones into Twitter and I'm the first name that comes up, and they're like, screw you at KY Sports Radio.

And I always think, why would you think that that's what Mac Jones's Twitter handle is KY Sports Radio?

You think Mac Jones, the quarterback of the forty nine ers, would have taken the Twitter handle Ky Sports Radio.

Speaker 2

It's not our only Matt Jones Twitter connection.

I have a great DM from Mac Jones that have to savor.

Speaker 1

Yours is better than mine.

I do remember here.

Speaker 2

I'm not saying mine he might laugh it out, but he was on a visit to Kentucky.

He was like seventeen at this point.

I'm probably thirty one, thirty two.

And he deems me like, where's the party at tonight?

Speaker 4

Man?

Speaker 2

And I just didn't answer, like I'm not party.

You're in high school.

Speaker 1

I'm not partying with you.

Speaker 2

But then later it's like what up?

And I just just kind of let those sit.

But then he goes on to become a Patriot and I find them on down the road.

I'm like, you know, a young high school Mac Jones wanted you should hang out to thirty.

Speaker 1

Year old me, cause you'd respond to him as if he just said it, like just like no, don't even say you're sorry, just go where's the party at?

And you're like, let's go to uh David Busters?

Mac?

What do you think?

I mean?

Speaker 2

He was ever a time.

It's now after his big day.

I should hit him up, like, hey, catch it up on messages?

So where are we at tonight?

Speaker 1

Catch up?

I like that you definitely should it.

This is your final chance in a big fun fact.

What do you got, Billy?

Yeah?

Speaker 4

So the forty nine ers cut their ticker Jake Moody.

Last week they signed thirty year old Eddie Pinero, who had eight total points, made two field goals but missed an extra point.

That missed extra point is rare because Eddie is the fourth most accurate NFL kicker of all time, is aj.

Speaker 1

This is not even a joke.

When I saw they signed Eddie Pinero, I thought he was like the winning jockey in the nineteen eighty three Kentucky Derby.

I'm not that's not even a joke.

I thought that Eddie Panero was a jockey.

I really did, because there was a jockey someone listening to Eddie.

Proto no that that's one too, but there's one that goes back to the eighties whose name was something like Panero.

And when I thought, I literally thought, you mean that jockey is now kicking in the NFL.

I had no idea there was a thirty year old Eddie Panero and then he's like one of the most accurate kickers of all time and he's thirty.

So if you think he's one of the most acrit of all time, you'd wonder how he didn't have a job.

Speaker 2

Thought it was a jockey when they signed him.

Speaker 4

Justin Tucker Harrison Butker, Chris Boswell and Eddie p As your top four kickers career percentage wise of all time.

Speaker 1

Well, if there's two you want to emulate, two you want to emulate, it's Tucker and Butker.

Those are not Yeah, those are not at all controversial.

Guys.

Speaker 2

Buger's getting roasted today.

He missed a phil goal extremely wide, right, and the jokes right themselves on that one.

The internet's having a good time.

Speaker 1

That's right.

His wife was like, you're the one who should stay home.

Let me go make the money.

Colts win on a last second field goal against the Broncos.

Danny Dimes.

That's Daniel Jones to you, sir, is two and zero in the NFL.

Speaker 2

Can you believe it?

I can't believe it.

I owe the Colts an apology.

I oh our first cover zero made fun of them.

If the Titans have a rival, it's the Colts.

I hate them.

I said they're gonna suck.

I said they'll have the number one pick.

Then they went on to score on their first ten possessions of this season.

It's an NFL record.

No team in history, no quarterback in history, has done with Daniel Jones has done with the Colts.

Speaker 1

Scored.

They scored the first ten possessions.

That's an all time NFL record by Daniel Jones.

Like that is insane, isn't it?

Speaker 2

Absolutely is?

It makes you wonder what was he just wasted his time in New York?

Is he really that good of a player?

Speaker 1

I mean Sam Darnold last year who went to a different team and ended up playing well, Baker Mayfield a couple of years before.

Maybe there are guys who the first time around it doesn't work.

You just have to get him into a new situation and things are better.

Speaker 2

How about your boy, Justin Fields.

Speaker 1

I mean, the Jets aren't going to do much, but I don't think he's quite had the success of those others.

But yes, I mean he lost.

Speaker 2

Than he did in Chicago.

I mean it's the Jets, they're not going to do much, but I do think Justin Fields has taking a little bit of a step getting a new fresh start too.

Speaker 1

Yeah.

Two and zero Colts now the leaders in the division.

I don't really want to spend a lot of time on this next game.

Lions fifty two Bears twenty one.

My goodness, I mean everybody's going to focus on Caleb Williams.

But that Bears defense fifty two points and with that was never competitive.

That was the game I had primarily on during my South African Journalist's talk, and I ended up switching it off because I mean, the Bears were pitiful.

Ben Johnson, I still believe in him, but I don't know what he did to our defense when they came along, or maybe he didn't bring a coordinator.

That was a pathetic performance.

Speaker 2

Horrible timing for him.

A week after the Lions scored like thirteen points and one, there's all the talk of was it the coordinators?

Can Dan Campbell do this?

Was it Ben Johnson's offense?

Then they go and score fifty two today.

They even asked Ben Johnson, was Dan Campbell run up the score on you?

And he defended him.

He's like, no, that's Dan Campbell.

That's what he does.

He doesn't have like a let's doll it back.

He goes forward on fourth.

He's full speed, aggressive, like I don't take it personal.

That's what Dan Campbell is.

Let your bears up.

Speaker 1

So which one's the Lion's last week's thirteen points and look to napped or this one fifty two?

You're gonna say in the middle.

But let's just say it's one of them, which one is ki I can't do in the middle.

That's that's too lame.

Anybody on a podcast can take the middle answer.

Speaker 2

I'm going to say they're more of the fifty two, and I know that's he'll probably go the other way because that was a tough first game and then they're not going to continue to score fifty two.

But I still believe in the Lions as an NFC contender.

Speaker 1

There's always one game in Week one that you go back and you look at and you go that doesn't make any sense.

The Packer's gonna be really good.

So I'm not sure if that's going to be the game we pick, but it might be because the Lions might be really good.

And then that just was a clunker of a performance.

Your Titans lose at home thirty three to nineteen to the Rams.

But then before we stay the show, you were like, get little giddy schoolboy drew going cam Wart's for real?

He threw a good pass.

Like is that how you feel?

Yeah?

Speaker 2

I ordered a cam Ward shirt after the game, even though we lost by two touchdowns, but two touchdown I knew before we drafted cam Ward that it doesn't matter who they draft him, but cam Ward has at least given me a reason to watch them.

He he does look like the legit number one pick, a guy who can be a franchise quarterback.

I feel bad that he has to try to do that in Nashville, but I am very excited about cam Ward.

With all due respect to Caleb Williams, I think if you're looking at number one picks, cam Ward is like a real deal.

That's a number one pick Williams.

Speaker 1

He had one good throw today, like why.

Speaker 2

Why good last week?

To no, he looked good last week.

He had Cameron Ridley in the number last week on third down and it hits the ground Cameron, But no, he has no help.

There's no offensive line.

His running back is Tony Pauler.

Calvin Ridley is is thirty something years old.

I mean, there's no there's no there's nothing to get excited about with the Titans since.

Speaker 1

You can't just down Billy.

He the Titans what scored last week?

They scored thirteen today nineteen, and Drew already has him like already has him as being the real deal.

Just for the record, I'm not saying he's wrong.

Speaker 2

Well no, no, hold on, We'll never know if he's the real deal because the Titans suck.

That's my point.

Cam Ward is good, the Titans sucked like this.

I'm going to watch for him, but I don't have a lot of faith because he has no help.

There was one receiver I never heard of today, like Elick Manora of something.

Watch out for him.

He's like a track star.

At least somebody on the Titans.

Speaker 1

Of the one Wednesday sell here too is the Elic Mayonora.

You gotta want to get the twenty fifteen vintage.

Speaker 2

Did I know?

I fann boyed a little bit, But that cam Ward throw was nae.

Speaker 1

That was great throw.

Speaker 2

That was one of those no no, no, no, no, yeah.

Speaker 1

Great great throw.

Great throw.

That was awesome.

Raven's forty one seventeen against Cleveland Flacco.

I loved for me to highlight the game.

Was watching flac Ohs scramble at what time when he looked he was so him trying to run for a first down is highly entertaining.

Ravens are I think a beast of a team.

I don't think last week changes anything on that.

Would you play Dylan Gabriel if you were the Browns got a.

Speaker 2

Little look today.

Probably Flaco's just it's it was a fun story a few years ago, and he gave him a little run after taking that coach flight to go save the team from retirement.

But you don't really want to put your franchise in Joe Flacco's hand.

Just let's see what the rookie heps.

Speaker 1

I mean at this point, why would you You're not You're not good, So I mean again, if you were good, you might give it a shot.

You've got two rookies.

I would think you would play them both and then see what you got.

I would if it were me, I would want to play Dealing Gabriel a few games, shod Or Sanders a few games, and then see what you have.

Right.

Speaker 2

Yeah, and one more thing to watch you all after me?

Week one.

Guess who led the Browns receiving again Harold fanag you here from Bowling Green.

I told y'all to watch this, and you left.

This guy's coming out of nowhere.

Cover zero reported in week one he did it again, had a touchdown.

Speaker 1

Harold Fannin Junior from Bowling Green.

Speaker 2

You guys laughing at me, as Brown's fans, they have a star in the making.

Speaker 1

All right?

All right?

Did did Lamar score?

By the way today, did I get my touching touchdown?

Speaker 4

I don't think Johnthy Taylor and Jamar Chase did.

So we are all tied up in the touchdown.

Speaker 1

Yeah, so you two both got yours.

You got Taylor and Chase and I didn't with Lebar.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I said this last week.

Chase was the lock of the year after two catches last week they were going to force.

Speaker 1

It him and uh, I'm won on my pick.

I had the Ravens as my team.

Billy, who did you have?

Speaker 4

Carolina?

Speaker 1

All right?

What did you have?

Drew Cowboys?

All right, so we all survived.

You guys took a couple I thought chances, and we all survived.

So we're all into week three.

What a rarity in uh in survivor leagues that that would happen Bill's Jets.

Billy, by the way, you need to pick yours since you're gonna be gone Wednesday, you need to pick your uh.

Yeah, make sure you send it in.

You have first yet, you have first pick, so you get to pick whoever you want.

Bill's Jets, Bill's win thirty ten.

I didn't see one second of this game, So you can tell me if I missed anything.

Speaker 2

Every time I checked on it.

You know, it's a blowout from the beginning one.

I was keeping up with a lot, but every time I looked up, James Cook was doing something.

He had a big game, had like one hundred and thirty yards, two touchdowns.

Pretty much a breeze of a game for the Bills after what they went through last week.

Speaker 1

Do you Josh Allen heard his nose?

Yeah?

How did he do that?

Speaker 4

Looked like his head went into one of his teammate's knee and he ran off the field immediately, had to get it checked out.

And he had something stuck up his nose when he came back.

Speaker 1

Something stuck up his nose.

Speaker 4

Yeah, yeah, band aid or something.

Speaker 1

He had a band aid stuck up his nose.

Speaker 4

Or like, you know the thing.

I don't think that's one of the white.

Speaker 1

So tell me.

The guy had a band aid on his knee and.

Speaker 4

It was it's more like a cloth kind of Oh, you're saying the don okay, hang on, you're saying the doctor put the thing in his nose.

Speaker 1

He was making it sound like it fell off the guy's knee and went into his nose.

Speaker 4

No, it was a tough hit.

Though I thought he might be hurt.

It was Joe Burrow who was significantly hurt, not Josh Allen.

Speaker 1

Yeah, there was a second with that Josh Allen hit.

I think where it looked like Drew it could be bad and that would have been That would have been the end of the Bill season.

But it looks like he's okay.

Speaker 2

Sticking a band aid up the nose does sound like something the Bengals would do.

Though, had he played there, I saw Josh Allen said after the game, I can breathe, We're all right, so moving on.

But it was he was pretty bloody up there and had to go.

Speaker 1

Out for a little bit.

Such a football answer.

I can breathe, so we're all right.

Speaker 2

I can breathe.

Speaker 1

That is listen, tough guy.

Cardinals beat the Panthers, although they almost blew it.

I predicted, by the way on this show last week that you will turn the Cardinals Panthers game on for the first time with two minutes to go, and the Panthers will be driving ran to beat the Cardinals.

And that's exactly what happened.

Twenty seven to twenty two.

They have a chance.

People need to go back and watch Bryce Young's last play, one of the all time.

He ran forty five yards backwards and trying to make that play, then fumbled it.

Cardinals went but they almost blew it.

They were up twenty seven to three at one point in this game.

Speaker 2

Would have been a bad loss for the Cardinals in a year where they have a little bit optimism.

Bryce Young threw it almost sixty times.

How do they think that's gonna succeed?

I mean, through it almost sixty times.

I think it's fifty five fast attempts in the losing effort.

I don't know, if your Panthers fan, what are we doing?

Like you saying the Panthers game.

I forgot there was a Panthers game till you brought it up.

It was as good to hear Chris Myers in his flow again.

I mean, you just know Chris Myers must have a Panther's tattoo because he he gets it every week.

Speaker 1

I mean he needs.

I hope he gets hazard paid because he has to watch more of those games.

Kyler Murray had another terrible interception.

There's no player in the league who's both awesome and at times makes awful decisions more than Kyler Murray.

But Cardinals twoing up.

Speaker 2

Yeah, he's got better pieces him around them this year.

So if Kyler is ever gonna have a good year and take a step forward, he's at least got the help.

He just has to go out and do it.

So far, so good being undefeated.

So what are your big takeaways here from week two?

I think you know, go back if you go back to the Packers Commander's game, if you're to sort of do your top five power rankings, I think we'd probably both still have the Bills number one.

Speaker 1

Are you putting the Eagles?

Well, I would have had the Eagles number one.

I'm gonna probably put the Bills now.

I think I feel better about them.

I'd probably go Eagles too.

Packers three, Ravens four.

But to me, those four are way ahead of everybody else.

What about you, Oh no, mine's a little different.

I got Ravens too.

Even with the loss Ravens two.

It was a fluke loss in Buffalo with the Henry fumble.

I'm still I still have faith in Baltimore, even though they do have a loss on the resume.

Really though, Eagles, Ravens, Bills just draw one out of hat for me, I mean, I think the are like, definitively four.

Speaker 2

Feeling I should have included the Packers going to the year.

Those are my three, and they've proven to me right with Mike and how good they've looked.

They've elevated too.

But the Bills and the Ravens that week one just confirmed it.

I mean, that is gonna be a war for who comes out of that conference, and I think we're gonna get another rematch like we saw in the first game for who gets to go to the super Bowl.

Speaker 1

Last week, you and I both had the Chiefs five.

I don't think you can put them there after losing again.

So where are you going on number five?

You've got let's see, you got two and O teams right now, include the Bengals are two and oh the uh forty nine ers or two and oh, the Colts are two and o Rams are two and oh?

What would you blip Cardinals?

Which of those any of those you put uh fifth.

Speaker 2

Of what you just I wouldn't put them fifth of what you just said.

I'd put the Rams of the two and O teams.

But I like the one to one Detroit better.

Speaker 1

Than I think you know, it was against the Bears, and it's easy to mock that, but that was such a dominating performance today on both sides of the ball that I think you.

I think the lines at five and honestly the lines are probably should be in the top four groups.

They just kind of laid a clunker.

So for the rest of the week, well the rest of the next two and a half weeks, I will be in South Africa.

I will still be here in Stellenbach on Wednesday, Billy, I will look for the wine of your choice.

Yes, and uh, I want let me let me correct for the listeners at home, it's s T E L L E N b O E s c H.

That's stelling Bosh.

But we don't say Bosh, we say bach By.

We I mean South Africa, of which you're.

Speaker 2

And the older people amongst them.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I am, I am part of South That They had a big they had a big rugby game.

They beat the All Blacks from New Zealand.

Uh, they beat them by the largest margin that they've beaten them in the history of the of the humanity.

Right like these are the two big rugby pipe.

No idea what I'm talking about.

But they are the two big rugby powers and they played Saturday and it was the biggest win ever in South Africa.

Uh and that people were talking about it, I mean not to me, but just like I could hear them talking about it everywhere, and it was it was very exciting.

I heard.

Speaker 2

Now they're just talking about this Strawberry character walking around across the streets like there's just not a care in the world.

Speaker 1

What's the recommendations.

I also have a recommendation.

If you're ever in South Africa and you're in the airport and you need to eat, eat at the Wimpy.

Okay, w I m p Why it's called the Wimpy.

They have brecky sandwiches.

Now here's what I need you to know.

Every let's see what is it?

Every nineteen ryant rands, that's what it's called.

Rand is one dollar.

So you'll see it and you'll go, man, this brecky sandwich is eighty three rands.

That seems expensive, but then drew it's only like three dollars and fifty cents and you get a big old brecky plate.

So I highly recommend the Wimpy in the airports in South Africa is Brecky like breakfast?

Is it like baby talk for breakfasts?

Breakfast sandwiches?

In South Africa they call Brecky's, which I think is very fun, very cute, very cute.

What he's next on your big South African journey.

Well, we're going, so we are going to the prison where Nelson Mandela was held for all of those years.

I'm going to Table Mountain.

They have a mountain that is over the city of Cape Town that looks like a table, like it's up in the air, but then it's completely flat at the top.

And you know, then I'm just gonna do things like have some more Brecky's and be ready to rock more death.

Speaker 2

Defying trips to get strawberry yogurt.

Speaker 1

Well, this is we stelling back and fairly fairly safe and Cape Town it's a Johannesburg at least, just yogurt places in Johannesburg.

Last thing before we go, since we won't have ks hard to talk about this on.

Did you see the video of Zach Brian climbing the barbed wire fence to try to beat up Gavin Adcock.

I'm not a Zach Brian guy, but I'm on his side that video.

I don't even know what they're fighting about, but that video is hilarious.

And I will tell you you do not fight a man who climbing over a barbedire fence.

Speaker 2

No, a man climbing over a barbarier fence with eight huge individuals just waiting on the other side.

I don't know much about Gavin Adcock.

I admit I listened to Zach Brian as a person.

Don't really want to.

Don't know that I am a fan of him as a human being, but I wanted him to get over that fence so bad, just to see what the next step was.

Speaker 1

And I don't know who gavinad Cock is, but he's wearing that stupid vest.

He looks like I mean, he looks he looks like a cowboy at Epcot.

And and when he's when when Zach Brian, you can see he's walking towards the fence.

And then when Zach Brian's like starts climbing the fence, he keeps walking like, yeah, you want some because he's like this crazy dude's not going to jump over this barbier fence.

And then he Zack Brian puts his hand on the barb wire, and at that moment you could see Gavin Adcock be like, all right, maybe I need to back up, and he did the thing where he was like, hey, security, get in between us, get in between us.

It was great.

Speaker 2

Gavin's biggest guy grabs him and tells him to go away.

When Zach gets like a leg over.

What are they fighting about?

By the way, what are they upset about?

Speaker 1

Uh?

Speaker 2

This Gavin Adcock character is just throwing throwing uh uh insults everywhere.

You know, got Charlie Crockett, he's in a fight with him.

I guess, well, he's kind of bro country and he's kind of take Charlie Crockett is country country?

Speaker 1

Well that kind of bro country too, isn't he?

Speaker 2

Yeah, that's why it's also stupid.

I think Gavin ad Cotts is doing it to get his name out there a little more.

Speaker 1

He almost says the kids would say breaking around and found out because he how would you say this, Zach Bryan a new level of scared of for me.

He put his hands on that barbed wire like a crazy man.

I'm staying away.

Well, Billy, thank you all.

It is two o'clock in the morning here as stelling box I'm going to go to bed and uh, you guys waking up Monday.

I hope you've enjoyed the show and we will see you Wednesday.
