Episode Transcript
[SPEAKER_00]: Not all of our mini-celled need to be from listeners.
[SPEAKER_00]: In fact, places or lesser-known cases can sometimes take us to dark realms.
[SPEAKER_00]: Hello everyone, and welcome back to another installment of Dark Relves.

[SPEAKER_00]: Today's dark realm has been suggested by one of you wonderful listeners.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now you may recall I said.Rounds is starting to change to add things to look at, such as mysterious creatures, legends, myths, etc.
[SPEAKER_00]: But only ones that seem to have some sort of credence.
[SPEAKER_00]: but we're not going there just yet, because this dark row features arguably one of the most terrifying descriptions or at least names of an entity I think have encountered and again as with everything I find very interesting and very real.
[SPEAKER_00]: that part is very short, and I am genuinely bewildered in my own belief system how this shortness equals validity.
[SPEAKER_00]: Equation has come around, but it has.
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it's through reading the amount of submissions that we do receive.
[SPEAKER_00]: But either way, make yourself a nice warm or tumult drink, take yourself a wealth as a break, and join me as we step foot into the dark realm, which is Hill View Manor of Pennsylvania.
[SPEAKER_00]: In the heart of Newcastle, Pennsylvania, stands a building that refuses to rest.
[SPEAKER_00]: Hill View Manor began its life in 1926 as the Lawrence County poorhouse.
[SPEAKER_00]: a refuge for the destitute, the elderly and the mentally ill.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was a place where the unwanted wind to fade away, or was sent to be forgotten, and it is there where these poor and fortunates lived out their final days.
[SPEAKER_00]: Local still whisper that the site was built upon sacred ground.
[SPEAKER_00]: as tropey as this sound, it believed a native American burial site was disturbed by the progress.
[SPEAKER_00]: Whether truth or hearsay, that rumor clings to the building, like the chill that seeps from its stone walls.
[SPEAKER_00]: Under its first superintendent, Perry and Mary Snyder, the institution [SPEAKER_00]: be it through illness, despair, or tragedy.
[SPEAKER_00]: It said that the sniders themselves would bury bodies in unmarked graves so to hide the number of dead.
[SPEAKER_00]: Even continuing to claim funds for residents who had long since passed.
[SPEAKER_00]: For decades, Hillview was a place of hopelessness.
[SPEAKER_00]: By the time of the facility was reformed into a nursing home and renamed Hillview Manor, the damage was already done.
[SPEAKER_00]: It believed tens of thousands had lived and died within its walls.
[SPEAKER_00]: When it finally closed its doors in 2004, few believed that the souls inside had truly left.
[SPEAKER_00]: Today, we'll look at three entities set to dominate Hillview's haunting, each more sinister than the last.
[SPEAKER_00]: And first we will take a look at Angela, the tormented soul of the second floor.
[SPEAKER_00]: Angela wants lived on the second floor of Hillview Manor in the 1930s.
[SPEAKER_00]: He was a reserved kind, sad, a figure overshadowed by the daily suffering of the institution.
[SPEAKER_00]: In 1939, his life ended in that same hallway, found hanging in a bathroom.
[SPEAKER_00]: An apparent suicide that left the staff on settled.
[SPEAKER_00]: Though later accounts suggest he may have been abused or neglected before his death.
[SPEAKER_00]: our whisper of injustice that seems to still stick.
[SPEAKER_00]: Today his ghost is said to remain in what's known as Angelo's Hall.
[SPEAKER_00]: The corridor itself shifts in tone, so evenings the light dim.
[SPEAKER_00]: A door slams, the mood becomes heavy with sorrow.
[SPEAKER_00]: One medium carrying out an investigation in that hallway, entered the bathroom and said, I feel very sick in here, like someone had him before he died.
[SPEAKER_00]: The visitors have reported that the air seems to freeze around them, and a sense of being [SPEAKER_00]: For me, what makes Angelo's presence particularly chilling is how it's described how the sorrow manifests in physical sensations.
[SPEAKER_00]: One tour guide described how he felt a cold hand brushed the back of my neck, though when he turned around clearly there was no one behind him.
[SPEAKER_00]: Others report hearing faint crying and the scraping of a chair being dragged across the floor, when no chair was moved.
[SPEAKER_00]: The effect is so lingering that some investigators now refuse to enter that wing after [SPEAKER_00]: Angelo's sad, trapped spirit seems to be a residual haunting, replaying in almost a stone-taped theory way his final moments for eternity.
[SPEAKER_00]: Or maybe his final hope for rescue that never came.
[SPEAKER_00]: And this makes any encounter with him both deeply emotional and deeply unsettling.
[SPEAKER_00]: the angry spirit of the boiler room beneath the manner in the furnace and boiler room dwells Ela.
[SPEAKER_00]: He was a finished immigrant, a maintenance man in life known to drink heavily.
[SPEAKER_00]: Christmas Eve, 1934, he was found outside in the snow on conscious.
[SPEAKER_00]: He was dragged inside to that boiler room in the hopes of reviving him with warm.
[SPEAKER_00]: putty died on that cold concrete floor.
[SPEAKER_00]: In life a hard worker, in death, a wrathful guardian of his old domain.
[SPEAKER_00]: The spirit of Eli, the angry rath said to patrol those subterranean chambers with invisible irritation.
[SPEAKER_00]: has led to visitors reporting low grounds.
[SPEAKER_00]: Sudden banks, tools clattering, although no-one or no-tools are there.
[SPEAKER_00]: A recorded EVP captured a voice, a growling, get out.
[SPEAKER_00]: And those present said it was less like a warning, and more like an automater.
[SPEAKER_00]: An investigator recalled, [SPEAKER_00]: I felt him right behind me, a man's breath on my neck, hot, quick, angry, and close.
[SPEAKER_00]: Eli's haunting is different from Angelo's sorrow.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's active, it's seemingly sentient, confrontational, territorial.
[SPEAKER_00]: One team had a stone from across the floor at them, although there was no one there to throw it.
[SPEAKER_00]: The guides say the boiler room is so unpredictable that even seasoned ghost hunters hesitate.
[SPEAKER_00]: One described the light flickering violently.
[SPEAKER_00]: The temperature dropped in an instant and the smell of burning oil suddenly appeared and dissipated.
[SPEAKER_00]: Eli's presence feels like the lingering rage of a man who died suddenly, unfairly.
[SPEAKER_00]: And now stays behind to issue his own form of justice.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you venture into the deep rooms of Hillview, you may find Eli ready, willing and certainly able to ensure you do not venture through those rooms unchallenged.
[SPEAKER_00]: and finally, and for me at least the most terrifying of them all, even if just by title.
[SPEAKER_00]: We have Jeffrey, the demon disguised as a child.
[SPEAKER_00]: So the darkest of the three, in my opinion, Jeffrey, appears as a young boy who loves toy cars [SPEAKER_00]: Guests even leave small toys in his room.
[SPEAKER_00]: They speak of a ball rolling across a hallway by itself.
[SPEAKER_00]: But the legend warns, if you see Jeffree's full apparition, death will soon follow.
[SPEAKER_00]: Narses throughout earlier decades reportedly would see a young boy at a patient's bedside.
[SPEAKER_00]: Thus his presence became a portant of the end.
[SPEAKER_00]: Those out there who are familiar with the term psychopomp may think Jeffries not a demon and just a psychopomp.
[SPEAKER_00]: For example, the Grim Reaper is a psychopomp in Western law, but there are several spiritual guides to take you to the next life so to speak.
[SPEAKER_00]: However, beyond the toy box small child guys, sits a far more sinister energy and entity.
[SPEAKER_00]: One investigators call the Creeper.
[SPEAKER_00]: In the very same zone tied to Geoffrey, witnesses describe a crawling, inky black figure slithering across walls and ceilings.
[SPEAKER_00]: its limbs contorted, its eyes glow in the gloom.
[SPEAKER_00]: One investigator said, it suddenly dropped from the ceiling and came towards us.
[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't human, we ran.
[SPEAKER_00]: Another added, that thing knows you.
[SPEAKER_00]: It watches, it feeds on your fear.
[SPEAKER_00]: The prevalent theory is that Jeffree's innocent childlike form is bait, and wants you bite, the demon revealed itself and strikes.
[SPEAKER_00]: Encounters with this entity have reportedly driven season teams to abandon investigations, equipment and all.
[SPEAKER_00]: One group captured a video of the ball moving, heard giggles, then moments later, a guttural breathing behind them, although they were stood against a wall.
[SPEAKER_00]: Another visitor said she felt a face at the window staring at her, despite the being no window on that wall.
[SPEAKER_00]: The dread there is palpable.
[SPEAKER_00]: but ends with a predator's hunger.
[SPEAKER_00]: This entity doesn't just hold, it hunts, and the fact that toys, laughter, and innocence mask something clearly malevolent only deepens the terror.
[SPEAKER_00]: Amongst all of the spirits of Hillview, this one, little Jeffrey, [SPEAKER_00]: Though the building finally closed in 2004, Hildview Manor has found a new lease of life as a place of pilgrimage for the curious and the brave.
[SPEAKER_00]: The owners now host overnight investigations, guided ghost tours and allowed visitors to wander those same halls where Tara and Dispar once reigned.
[SPEAKER_00]: Inside, some of the rooms are preserved almost as shrines to the former residents.
[SPEAKER_00]: As mentioned, people, in regard to Jeffrey in the fact he's a small child, still leave toys as tributes to him, but for every tribute there are new tales, light flickering on their own, whispered voices caught on recorders, dark figures at the end of a hallway.
[SPEAKER_00]: Of course, it will never be as famous or as well known as its vocational cousin Wavilly Hills, but Hillview Manor remains a monument to the forgotten, and a home to the restless.
[SPEAKER_00]: And of course, thanks to its new owners, the doors are now open for you to step inside.
[SPEAKER_00]: To go and see those spirit waiting for you, [SPEAKER_00]: and who knows maybe you will become entwined in the fabric of this story that seemingly never wants to end.
[SPEAKER_00]: And if you do visit, I genuinely hope you don't be compartment of this dark realm.
[SPEAKER_00]: So until next time, stay safe, take care, and I'll see you in our next dark realm.
[UNKNOWN]: You
