Episode Transcript
0:00:00 - (Lara Potter): Hey there, and welcome to season three of meet me in Tennessee. So it says here we're your go to podcast for all things east in the volunteer state. Join us as we explore the stories and people behind the hidden gems. And, man, do we have one here today. Vibrant cities and breathtaking landscapes. We've got you covered. Who am I? I'm Lara.
0:00:20 - (Jenna Lafever): And I'm Jenna. Yeah, we're here recording in May pop studio in downtown Johnson City. Again, as always, at least two times now. They haven't kicked us out yet.
0:00:30 - (Lara Potter): Let us come back.
0:00:31 - (Jenna Lafever): Yes.
0:00:32 - (Lara Potter): Except, sorry, today might be at the end of that.
0:00:35 - (Jenna Lafever): But today I really am excited for today's guest. We've already been talking to him, and our director said, be quiet. Save it for the show. We've got Josh Mancuso in the studio. Local boy, been here for a while, doing some awesome stuff on social media. He's really known for his college shorts, a lot of funny videos, but he does a lot more than that. He's an actor. He's an NC. He's got a beautiful family.
0:00:55 - (Jenna Lafever): We can't wait to learn about him. Josh, welcome to the show.
0:00:58 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah. You guys are doing great. Just keep going. I'll just sit here.
0:01:01 - (Lara Potter): I really don't. She didn't write anything else for us, and she doesn't allow us to go off script.
0:01:05 - (Jenna Lafever): I forgot to say this. I feel like we've known Josh for some time. How long has it been?
0:01:11 - (Josh Mancuso): I don't know. We've been enjoying it.
0:01:12 - (Jenna Lafever): We've known each other.
0:01:12 - (Lara Potter): So for me, it's been about 15 minutes.
0:01:15 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah. 15 minutes. Yeah.
0:01:16 - (Jenna Lafever): I think I've known you for probably, like, eight.
0:01:18 - (Josh Mancuso): I was gonna say eight years.
0:01:19 - (Jenna Lafever): Yeah.
0:01:19 - (Josh Mancuso): Let's go with eight.
0:01:20 - (Lara Potter): That felt organic.
0:01:22 - (Josh Mancuso): That was real. I've been counting. I've been thinking about.
0:01:25 - (Jenna Lafever): I've been thinking back.
0:01:26 - (Lara Potter): I'm glad you all are friends, but I'm gonna tell you, I'm just a little starstruckhead. I've been watching this guy for a long time. I know. And so that's my husband. He's fucking.
0:01:34 - (Jenna Lafever): Jenna knows him. Jenna knows him.
0:01:36 - (Lara Potter): I'm like, yeah, I do. That's right.
0:01:38 - (Josh Mancuso): Gray years.
0:01:39 - (Lara Potter): Even as a Kentucky athletics fan, because that is where I was born and bred, if you will. It's.
0:01:47 - (Jenna Lafever): We learned that last week, but he's.
0:01:48 - (Lara Potter): Still funny to me.
0:01:49 - (Jenna Lafever): Yes.
0:01:50 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah. You guys still have sports up there? You guys still doing.
0:01:53 - (Lara Potter): Here's the thing about being a Kentucky fan, man. It makes you a really strong person.
0:01:58 - (Josh Mancuso): I does. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
0:01:59 - (Lara Potter): If you can stick with it.
0:02:00 - (Josh Mancuso): Listen, you gotta be strong to be a TSC fan, too. We've been through some times, and it's good now.
0:02:04 - (Jenna Lafever): Hey, you know, every year, right, in that way, they're like, it's back to 98.
0:02:09 - (Josh Mancuso): Feels like 98, baby.
0:02:10 - (Jenna Lafever): Every year. Every year they say it.
0:02:12 - (Josh Mancuso): We just won the college World Series, so we're never like. Feels like 24.
0:02:15 - (Jenna Lafever): That's right.
0:02:16 - (Josh Mancuso): Feels like 24.
0:02:16 - (Jenna Lafever): That's right.
0:02:17 - (Josh Mancuso): We're just gonna keep saying that.
0:02:18 - (Lara Potter): That's okay. But it has been a great year. It's tough, as a Kentucky fan, to watch all of the success for Tennessee.
0:02:25 - (Josh Mancuso): Yes.
0:02:26 - (Lara Potter): However, I work in an environment of all the Tennessee fans, and I appreciate the tradition because I was raised in the big blue tradition. And can you believe it's football season? Can we talk about that? The weather says it is foot moss.
0:02:38 - (Jenna Lafever): And the walk here this morning, it was like, honestly, I'm wearing a flannel. Cause I tried to wear my gamecock colors, and I'm not going. I should have had a, you know, the shirt, but this is doing it. But I'm like, I actually need this flannel because it's, like, cold.
0:02:49 - (Josh Mancuso): You look very fallish.
0:02:51 - (Jenna Lafever): Thank you.
0:02:51 - (Josh Mancuso): It's so fall, you know, it just feels perfect.
0:02:54 - (Lara Potter): Small weather, but Josh went the distance, like, can we.
0:02:57 - (Jenna Lafever): Yeah, get. I don't know if we get off of that. Put your shoe up in there.
0:03:00 - (Lara Potter): Flexible, this fella. Yeah.
0:03:02 - (Jenna Lafever): Those are stretchy jeans, Josh.
0:03:04 - (Josh Mancuso): That just hurt a little.
0:03:05 - (Jenna Lafever): Those jeans got a little give.
0:03:06 - (Lara Potter): They got a little give to the. To the drinkware today.
0:03:11 - (Josh Mancuso): Gametimesidekicks.com.
0:03:13 - (Jenna Lafever): Hey, where'd you get that?
0:03:15 - (Josh Mancuso): Gametime and alumnihall.com. oh, I have sponsors.
0:03:19 - (Lara Potter): That's right.
0:03:19 - (Josh Mancuso): I'm like a NASCAR driver.
0:03:20 - (Jenna Lafever): Go ahead and defend them our way, too. We'd love some sponsored opportunities.
0:03:23 - (Lara Potter): I feel like they're already seeking us out, especially after that. So we probably should just. Let's rewind a little bit to earlier. Hugh, tell us a little bit about Josh and where Josh originates from.
0:03:36 - (Josh Mancuso): Just Josh. The child.
0:03:36 - (Lara Potter): The Josh. The child.
0:03:38 - (Jenna Lafever): Baby Josh. Baby Josh. Let's work our way to toddler, child adult.
0:03:42 - (Lara Potter): We'll be here a minute.
0:03:43 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah, yeah.
0:03:44 - (Jenna Lafever): Sit back.
0:03:44 - (Josh Mancuso): It's a long story. Well, I was born as a baby in 1980, like most people are born as babies, in Huntington Beach, California, near Los Angeles. You ever been there?
0:03:58 - (Jenna Lafever): I've actually never been to California.
0:03:59 - (Josh Mancuso): You've not been to California ever?
0:04:00 - (Jenna Lafever): I've been to Washington state.
0:04:03 - (Lara Potter): I've been to San Francisco.
0:04:04 - (Josh Mancuso): Not the same as California.
0:04:05 - (Jenna Lafever): Yeah, it's not.
0:04:05 - (Josh Mancuso): It's also a state.
0:04:07 - (Jenna Lafever): They're near on that side.
0:04:09 - (Lara Potter): However, you did make your way across the country.
0:04:13 - (Josh Mancuso): Born in LA, but moved here when I was four years old. Lived in Kings Fort till I was twelve, and then Johnson City from twelve to 29, which I am now.
0:04:21 - (Jenna Lafever): And it's like, you know, and now you're a star, so it's like a little foreshadowing there with where you were born. LA, baby, you moved to the mountains.
0:04:28 - (Josh Mancuso): Take the kid out of Hollywood, but you can't take the Hollywood out of the kid. You know what I mean?
0:04:30 - (Lara Potter): It came with you. That's right, it came with you.
0:04:33 - (Josh Mancuso): Came with me, yeah.
0:04:34 - (Lara Potter): So what brought you to Tennessee?
0:04:36 - (Josh Mancuso): Well, my mom's family was from here. My dad's family was from California, and so we just ended up mom one.
0:04:41 - (Jenna Lafever): Yeah, sorry, dad's family.
0:04:43 - (Josh Mancuso): Dad was into, he liked, you know, he liked the small town stuff, and we decided, hey, let's come out here. And so he's still here, you know, all his family's still out in California, but he's still here. So we're kicking it in northeast Tennessee. We love it.
0:04:55 - (Jenna Lafever): And now you have a family. He's a girl, dad.
0:04:58 - (Josh Mancuso): I have three daughters. Yeah.
0:04:59 - (Jenna Lafever): Beautiful girl. And I actually was creeping before the show. I'm like, how old are his daughters now? They've gotten so big.
0:05:05 - (Josh Mancuso): I know. Did you find them? They have.
0:05:07 - (Jenna Lafever): I had to go down. I had to go a little far down.
0:05:09 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah. They've got their own social media stuff going.
0:05:11 - (Jenna Lafever): Okay. Okay.
0:05:12 - (Josh Mancuso): A couple of the older ones do.
0:05:13 - (Jenna Lafever): Okay. Now, I think I may follow your wife. And that's where I saw it, but, yeah, yeah.
0:05:17 - (Josh Mancuso): 1513 and eight.
0:05:19 - (Lara Potter): Wow. Wow.
0:05:20 - (Jenna Lafever): Teenage. That's a fun world right there.
0:05:22 - (Josh Mancuso): It's a wild time right now. A lot of emotions, a lot of excitement. A lot of good stuff. Yeah.
0:05:27 - (Lara Potter): So let's talk about how you came to the business that you're in now as you came from LA to Kingsport to Johnson city.
0:05:37 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah.
0:05:37 - (Jenna Lafever): Your background, career path.
0:05:39 - (Lara Potter): Tell us about that career path.
0:05:41 - (Josh Mancuso): Well, gosh, I. I feel like I always knew I wanted to entertain people. I always wanted to kind of be part of the movie making entertainment scene. I think living in northeast Tennessee, like, which, much as I love it, it's amazing here. It's not really a hotbed of entertainment opportunities necessarily. So that's the great thing about social media. It came around and I was like, oh, this is a way for me to kind of create my own stuff and make my own stuff and get it out there. So I was able to do that. And so, like, I worked in marketing for a long time. I've worked. I have a production company, did video production for a long time behind the camera, and they started doing stuff in front of the camera and, um.
0:06:16 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah, got. Got an agent years ago, started doing some acting on the side. And then now we're. We're full blown into it for the last three years.
0:06:24 - (Jenna Lafever): Well, and I was going to ask you, because I remember this, like, maybe where we met was when you were doing the, like, downtown Jossam city videos, like, what's happening this week or weekend.
0:06:33 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah.
0:06:34 - (Jenna Lafever): Was that kind of your first on screen?
0:06:36 - (Josh Mancuso): Launched my career. Yeah. My career. No, that. Well, I did a lot of, like, skits and church. Right. So, like, on stage stuff, like, small. I never did, like, local theater, really, but more like church kids. And then, you know. Yeah, we did the downtown update show, I think we call it. And that was fun. That was pretty cool. That was a lot of fun. So that was the first time I got to, like, really explore Josh, the actor artist, and, you know, in that.
0:07:02 - (Jenna Lafever): And there was some comedy mixed in there, too. It was, like, a little silly.
0:07:06 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah. Yeah, totally.
0:07:07 - (Lara Potter): You're a proud Emory Henry graduate, though, right?
0:07:09 - (Josh Mancuso): I am. Yeah. Go waspse.
0:07:12 - (Jenna Lafever): That's so hard to say.
0:07:13 - (Josh Mancuso): It is.
0:07:14 - (Lara Potter): Go wasps.
0:07:15 - (Josh Mancuso): Wasps. There's a lot of sp's. There was.
0:07:17 - (Jenna Lafever): Yeah. That's gonna be terrible to hear for these people.
0:07:19 - (Lara Potter): Wasps.
0:07:20 - (Josh Mancuso): Wasps.
0:07:20 - (Lara Potter): Look, I had a lisp. I mean, you always have a lisp, but I've corrected it, so he's welcome back. That's just a long history of me.
0:07:28 - (Jenna Lafever): Yes.
0:07:28 - (Lara Potter): Emory and Henry, while you were there, was this already. Was it a marketing focus? But you already felt like you had something funny to say.
0:07:37 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah, well, first of all, I started. I was a mass comm. Major. Mass communications. Right. Which I. Did you do that?
0:07:44 - (Lara Potter): Yes. We were all mass con majors.
0:07:46 - (Josh Mancuso): Were we? Look at us.
0:07:47 - (Lara Potter): Yep.
0:07:48 - (Jenna Lafever): But we're not that funny.
0:07:49 - (Josh Mancuso): You guys are funny.
0:07:50 - (Lara Potter): Our mass calls it a come with money.
0:07:52 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah, I'm not that funny either. I'm just dumb enough to put it out in front of everybody.
0:07:56 - (Jenna Lafever): You're funny.
0:07:57 - (Josh Mancuso): You're. Oh, everybody's. So I started loving the camera, right? So, I mean, my degree was like, you know, journalism, marketing, graphics on everything in that. That world. But I. The video camera, like, really intrigued me, so I started making videos for our high school or our college basketball team, the Emory Henry Wasps men's basketball team. And that was where I kind of fell in love with creating stuff and making stuff, using video.
0:08:21 - (Josh Mancuso): Didn't do much on camera stuff, but I had it in the back of my mind, like, I really want to be an actor. Like, I really want to do that. But it seemed, like, so far fetched of an idea or of a dream. Like, who dreams about, like, being an actor? Like, let's be realistic. But it's been cool to 20 years later to be like, I'm kind of doing this. Not the path I really necessarily wanted to take. It's kind of been, you know, but.
0:08:43 - (Jenna Lafever): From here, like, you've literally millions. Yeah, millions and millions of people through these videos, and you're just feel, I don't know. Do you film at home?
0:08:51 - (Josh Mancuso): I got a home. I do everything right there. Even. Even when I do, like, auditions for, like, bigger projects and things, like, I just do it from my house. Like, most auditions are virtual, so. Wow. Did audition. If I get booked, that I go and do it wherever it is.
0:09:03 - (Lara Potter): So this means you don't plan on going anywhere. We're gonna keep you in northeast Tennessee.
0:09:06 - (Josh Mancuso): We'll see. Yeah. What?
0:09:09 - (Lara Potter): He's got some trick questions.
0:09:11 - (Jenna Lafever): They're gonna be here forever.
0:09:12 - (Josh Mancuso): My kids love it here. My kids love it here.
0:09:14 - (Lara Potter): I sometimes think about the fact that I'm so thankful I didn't grow up in the age of social media. However, how thankful are you today for the social media world?
0:09:23 - (Josh Mancuso): Double edged sword. It's tough. Cause, yeah, I'm trying to regulate my kids being on social. Cause it could be a dangerous place, for sure. Like, there's a lot of bad stuff out there. The great thing is about social media is that you can take people who are like me, who are artists, or who want to do these types of things, have dreams to do this thing, and they have a platform to do it. People will actually see it. That was early on. It was like, well, who's going to see this stuff? You know?
0:09:44 - (Josh Mancuso): But now, you know, all it takes is one video all of a sudden.
0:09:47 - (Jenna Lafever): Well, and that's. I wanted to ask, what was that video that really kind of launched it into? Because now it is like a totally. You've been doing this, the college shorts, for two years. Two years, yeah. And it's. I mean, you've gotten so many incredible opportunities and met so many people and hosted things through it. So very cool. What was that video that you're like, hey, I think I want to make this, and just see. And then it took.
0:10:07 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah. Cause I'd done a few videos that were funny that we're looking at ten to 30,000 views. Right. Just kind of like, okay, it's all right. Yeah. And then that's viral to us. Kind of kept growing. And then I had a character named Coach Lance that I did. This is, like three years ago. Uh, and, uh, it was when they. The day they fired Jeremy Pruitt as the head of. Coach of Tennessee and before they hired Josh Hypo, like, seven days later. In that interim, I announced myself as the new head coach at the University of Tennessee. I created a character named Coach Lance Decker.
0:10:37 - (Jenna Lafever): Got to work quick on that.
0:10:38 - (Josh Mancuso): I was boom. It was like, I just. I wrote it in, like an hour, filmed it, put it out, and it just went viral. Viral for me at the time, it was like 100,000 views or so. And I was like, oh, man, this is cool. So I kind of kept that character going, but then I kind of messed around, kind of started doing some other things. Kind of still trying to find my way. I know I didn't want to just do him and him only.
0:10:56 - (Josh Mancuso): So I kept going. And eventually, the video you're probably talking about was almost exactly two years ago today, maybe a little over two years ago. It was my Auburn mascot video I love. So. Auburn Tigers. Yeah. I sort of had this idea, like, what if there was this committee that came up with, you know, how they're going to name the mascot for the school? Because some of them don't make sense.
0:11:15 - (Jenna Lafever): A lot of them don't. After I've watched your videos, I'm like, that really is odd.
0:11:18 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah. I'm just educating the public one video at a time with these things where none of the videos, they're not the real story. It's like the made up story, but that one went a million views, like, within a few days. And I was like, oh, I've got something here. Like, this is good. Which is perfect because I'm such a football fan. I was like, ooh, I could merge my acting and comedy with my love for football.
0:11:42 - (Josh Mancuso): This is, like, perfect scenario for me. So that was the first one, and then I did, I think, Ohio State, the Buckeyes. The. The Ohio state?
0:11:52 - (Jenna Lafever): Yeah.
0:11:52 - (Josh Mancuso): In buckeyes, our mascots. And nut. That's great. Congratulations. And then Alabama, Tennessee, all the, you.
0:11:59 - (Jenna Lafever): Know, I love the one. I don't know if it's this year album with them. With the mullet. Where, like, you have. Right where the mullet.
0:12:04 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah. Tennessee. Randy. His name's Randy.
0:12:06 - (Jenna Lafever): That's Randy.
0:12:06 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah. I have a lot of friends named Randy. They don't love that I named him Randy, but, yeah, I think Tennessee is my first mullet character. And then I've used him in some other ones. Alabama and some other ones. Yeah, LSU. Any southern school you can.
0:12:19 - (Jenna Lafever): Yeah. And it is like, when you start talking about it and watch these videos, you're just like, how did they come up with this? The ole Miss one kills me.
0:12:26 - (Josh Mancuso): Ole Miss.
0:12:27 - (Lara Potter): You're your own script writer, right? You're your own script writer.
0:12:31 - (Josh Mancuso): Yes. Yeah, I write all my scripts.
0:12:32 - (Lara Potter): I think about songwriters. So is like, do you, like, close yourself in a room and that, sit down and write these things out, or you're inspired by watching games, reading all the things? How do you get to these scripts?
0:12:42 - (Josh Mancuso): A little bit of all that stuff? I mean, I do try to keep up with what's going on, so I kind of know what's relevant when I write it. Something. But a lot of times it's just me in the car, me in the shower, me sitting there. I mean, anywhere. And I'm like, oh, that's funny. It hits you. And then I have to remember to go write it down or I'll do a, you know, talk to my phone thing with any joke ideas.
0:12:59 - (Josh Mancuso): Um, sometimes, though, I'll sit down, have an idea, I'll sit down and just hammer out a script and, like, 30, 45 minutes, and it's just like. It just happened. That's rare. I wish it was like that every time. Usually I'm laboring over it for days and days and days. You know, you can find me, you know, at some coffee shop in town, writing stuff in my office. I just kind of change my scenery and change where I'm at and try to just kind of stir up the creativity.
0:13:25 - (Jenna Lafever): Do you test it on any friends or family, or do you just like, hey, okay, this is solid. Let's go with it. Let's record it.
0:13:32 - (Josh Mancuso): I test it a little bit with a couple friends, but usually it's just like, boom, I wrote it. Let's film it. Let's go.
0:13:39 - (Jenna Lafever): Yeah, and it's like, there's so much content out there. It's like, okay, if it doesn't get 2 million views, then okay, we'll make another one. Yeah, maybe that one.
0:13:46 - (Lara Potter): Have you had any, like, passionate fans that have just come back at you? Like, how dare you?
0:13:52 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah, yeah.
0:13:54 - (Jenna Lafever): Alabama.
0:13:55 - (Josh Mancuso): Alabama. Fit rotide. You know, it's. Everybody's passionate about their school, about their fan base. I think it's the people who have just stumbled across my videos who don't know who I am yet, and they see it for the first time. They think, I'm just making fun of their school. And people are like, no, no. He does this for all the schools. He roasts everybody. It's all, you know, it's all for fun. But there'll be people who are like, well, if you know the real story of how the Purdue bowler makers became a.
0:14:20 - (Josh Mancuso): You know, and that I'm like, then you. Maybe you wouldn't maybe do a little research, buddy. And I'm like, you know, it's just a joke. You know, it's just for fun. For the most part, everybody loves him, but I do get the occasional fan who's disgruntled.
0:14:33 - (Lara Potter): Well, now it's like, I want Josh to talk about my school that I'm so passionate about.
0:14:37 - (Jenna Lafever): Right. I mean, we. Look, I'm Doug Kentucky.
0:14:40 - (Lara Potter): I don't know.
0:14:40 - (Josh Mancuso): Oh, I'm sorry. Yes.
0:14:42 - (Lara Potter): Yeah. But I'm saying just in general, like, as a passionate fan now, I want you to be a part of that so I can just put it out there to the world because it's just fun. Yeah.
0:14:50 - (Josh Mancuso): Most of our comments. I'm sorry. Most of my comments are people saying, when are you going to do Texas tech? Yeah.
0:14:55 - (Lara Potter): Right.
0:14:55 - (Josh Mancuso): When are you going to do. Yeah, every.
0:14:57 - (Lara Potter): Every school take my team on, so. Okay. But I do have to ask, is there one particular team that you like to give the most jabs to?
0:15:06 - (Josh Mancuso): Well, I mean, I like to jab Alabama pretty good.
0:15:08 - (Jenna Lafever): So. Yeah. Tennessee fan, you got to like.
0:15:10 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah, I love basically roll tide and their whole thing. I think it's also good to rib on Vandye. Right. Cause they're kind of. They're the smart school in the SEC. Not really good at sports. Well, good at baseball, but not football, really. They're fun to rip. Kind of like a little brother. For Tennessee, it's good to rip Carolina, some South Carolina, you know, a little bit. Go Cox.
0:15:33 - (Lara Potter): That's right.
0:15:34 - (Jenna Lafever): Yeah. We gotta keep saying go Cox.
0:15:37 - (Lara Potter): It means you still have some level of credibility.
0:15:39 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah.
0:15:39 - (Jenna Lafever): Yeah. Well, listen, after last week, I'm a little concerned.
0:15:44 - (Josh Mancuso): I did a live comedy show in Atlanta a couple months ago, and it was filled room packed with SEC fans. Right. And fans of my videos and stuff. And so they had pockets of, like, Alabama fans, Tennessee fans all over the place, Gamecock fans. There's this one guy in the front who had been drinking since probably noon, was just ripped and big old ball guy, big Georgia fan. And, like, throughout. Throughout my set, just. Just every about 15 minutes, he would just be like, go gongs like that. Just randomly, like, no context at all. I joke about. He's like, go gongs.
0:16:21 - (Josh Mancuso): All of a sudden. It just happened over and over.
0:16:23 - (Lara Potter): He's represented.
0:16:24 - (Josh Mancuso): Represented. You gotta represent.
0:16:25 - (Lara Potter): That's exactly right.
0:16:26 - (Josh Mancuso): He was carried out of the bar later. It was.
0:16:29 - (Jenna Lafever): So it's time for you to leave.
0:16:30 - (Lara Potter): I know. I did expect you to say Georgia whenever I asked that question. I thought Georgia would be a little.
0:16:34 - (Josh Mancuso): You know, it's so funny because now it's cool. Cause I'm getting opportunities to do things with schools, so I have to be careful. It's like, um, I don't want to take a school off so bad that they're not going to hire me to come back. Like, Georgia hired me to come speak to a group of their fans and stuff and gave me tickets to the SEC championship game. All kinds of stuff. Right? So it's like, okay.
0:16:53 - (Josh Mancuso): But then I did a Clemson versus Georgia video and kind of picked Clemson in that. I like Clemson.
0:16:59 - (Jenna Lafever): I was going to say it's Clemson.
0:17:01 - (Josh Mancuso): Sorry. Sorry, guys.
0:17:02 - (Jenna Lafever): Carolina girl, we had the p. The.
0:17:04 - (Josh Mancuso): P is going to be in there.
0:17:05 - (Lara Potter): Right?
0:17:06 - (Josh Mancuso): Which again, but I, and I know Dabo Sweeney fairly well and his whole. I love Clemson. I love Clemson. I love. So now I've become a weenie.
0:17:18 - (Lara Potter): Oh, that's poor, but it's a weenie. But that's what you all are supposed to be. I mean, you know, it's a nice little rivalry.
0:17:26 - (Jenna Lafever): I know, it's funny.
0:17:27 - (Lara Potter): Exactly.
0:17:28 - (Jenna Lafever): And I was, I was glad to see Georgia win. You know, that's one thing. It's like as long even if the game comes lose, which sucks, but which we did.
0:17:35 - (Lara Potter): You like to see teams. There are certainly.
0:17:38 - (Jenna Lafever): I feel better about it.
0:17:38 - (Lara Potter): That's right. There are certain teams you always want to see get beat.
0:17:41 - (Jenna Lafever): That's right.
0:17:42 - (Lara Potter): But not just football. Other doors have been open to you and other sports.
0:17:47 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah.
0:17:48 - (Lara Potter): Most recently talking with our good friend Tony. You know what we talk about.
0:17:57 - (Jenna Lafever): That is a good looking man. Now, that is the only time I have said go vols, is when Tony.
0:18:04 - (Lara Potter): And multiple other ladies, maybe across the state, started to watch baseball.
0:18:09 - (Jenna Lafever): We were watching it close.
0:18:10 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah. He's in the danger for baseball right now with the women.
0:18:14 - (Lara Potter): Beautiful man.
0:18:15 - (Jenna Lafever): Anyways, yes, go ahead, but talk to the opportunity.
0:18:18 - (Lara Potter): What I was going to say about you and Tony is, you know, there was an opportunity there for you to really learn some things, including how to eat sunflower seeds.
0:18:27 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah, I thought I did a great job.
0:18:30 - (Lara Potter): I thought you did a great job.
0:18:31 - (Josh Mancuso): I mean, I thought it was a contest. How many sunflower seeds can you fit in your mouth and your mouth and bleeding and just raw inside.
0:18:38 - (Lara Potter): I just feel like that was a big moment. That was a big moment.
0:18:40 - (Josh Mancuso): It was good. Yeah, I, you know, here's the thing. I believe that I was qualified to coach third base and that I should be hired by the university to be a baseball coach. He didn't think so. So we just. We just filmed a part two last week, and that hasn't come out yet. And you'll be excited to. To know that I still didn't get hired, but I went in, and this time I have another proposal for him. And so you'll see what that is.
0:19:07 - (Lara Potter): Persistence.
0:19:08 - (Josh Mancuso): Persistence. It always pays off. I mean, not always. He did. It didn't work, but, yeah, but I.
0:19:13 - (Lara Potter): Still didn't get that job.
0:19:15 - (Josh Mancuso): But, yeah, we got.
0:19:16 - (Lara Potter): You haven't given up.
0:19:17 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah. No.
0:19:17 - (Jenna Lafever): There's a part three.
0:19:19 - (Josh Mancuso): I know that if I post something with Tony, I'm going to get likes and views because all the women are going to be like, I love it because they're like, they comment on my picture like, he's so hot. And I'm like, thank you. They're like, I'm talking to Tony. Talking about Tony, you know, I'm like, all right.
0:19:32 - (Lara Potter): Yeah, Tony. Yeah, yeah. Instagram, no, that's a problem.
0:19:37 - (Josh Mancuso): That's not really on social media. Yeah. Tony Vitello is baseball day in, day out. Lives it, breathes it and sleeps, eats it. That's all. I mean, that's it. He is always constantly thinking, talking baseball.
0:19:49 - (Jenna Lafever): Well and exhaust national championship winner. So, you know, persistence, it paid off well.
0:19:55 - (Josh Mancuso): You know, I told him if he had hired me, I think we would have had an even better season. He was like, we won the World Series. How? I was like, well, maybe we would have won more games.
0:20:04 - (Jenna Lafever): There's always gotten more views on Instagram, Tony.
0:20:07 - (Josh Mancuso): That's what I told him.
0:20:08 - (Lara Potter): Once he sees this podcast.
0:20:10 - (Josh Mancuso): Exactly.
0:20:10 - (Lara Potter): This might be your end.
0:20:11 - (Josh Mancuso): Guy should go with me next time. And as my force, we need to.
0:20:15 - (Lara Potter): We are nothing if not persistent. Yeah, somewhat. I'll put on maybe annoying.
0:20:19 - (Jenna Lafever): I'll put on one for you.
0:20:20 - (Lara Potter): Get him out of. Oh, well, that grey. Maybe the gray. Maybe the gray.
0:20:25 - (Josh Mancuso): The volunteer state.
0:20:26 - (Jenna Lafever): Yeah, I could do it.
0:20:27 - (Josh Mancuso): We live in the volunteer state. That's true.
0:20:29 - (Lara Potter): We do.
0:20:29 - (Jenna Lafever): We love the volunteer state.
0:20:30 - (Lara Potter): We are very proud of our state.
0:20:32 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah.
0:20:33 - (Lara Potter): Doesn't mean that I'm a ball fan, but we're a Tony fan and we're.
0:20:36 - (Jenna Lafever): A Josh McConnell Olivet fan.
0:20:38 - (Josh Mancuso): Let's go.
0:20:38 - (Lara Potter): Let's talk about what's next for Josh. What are you working on now? Other than part two with Tony?
0:20:43 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah.
0:20:44 - (Lara Potter): What else are you working on?
0:20:45 - (Josh Mancuso): Well, okay, so we just wrapped up. We have one more episode to shoot of this show that we were filming throughout the summer called the Josh Mancuso show because I couldn't think of another name for it, so we just seems fitting.
0:20:56 - (Jenna Lafever): Yeah, we know what it is. It's a show with you.
0:20:59 - (Josh Mancuso): Yes. Well, everybody know that I'm the star, so my name's in the title.
0:21:02 - (Jenna Lafever): That's right. Put it in lights.
0:21:04 - (Josh Mancuso): So we did episodes with marketing, with Tony was our most recent episode, and we did. Who's the first? We had that Cooper Manning. The oldest painted brother. Yeah. I call him the forgotten Manning.
0:21:15 - (Jenna Lafever): Right to his face.
0:21:17 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah, he didn't like that. Love this game. We had a good time together.
0:21:21 - (Lara Potter): They seem like such good people.
0:21:22 - (Josh Mancuso): They're awesome.
0:21:23 - (Lara Potter): No, we're such good people. I should have just gone with.
0:21:26 - (Josh Mancuso): They're such. Yes.
0:21:28 - (Jenna Lafever): Last time I was talking to Cooper and Payton, I just was thinking they were such goofies.
0:21:32 - (Lara Potter): Went so great hanging out with you.
0:21:33 - (Josh Mancuso): Guys and I were having a load. Chick fil a.
0:21:37 - (Lara Potter): And it's fine. You go ahead and brag about your manning frequency.
0:21:40 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah. My Manning connections. Yes. Yes. I've. Well, I've only. I've met Peyton, but that's it. I've never met Eli, but Cooper is hilarious. And so I roasted him. He roasted me back. It was a great video. We explored New Orleans together. The French Quarter.
0:21:53 - (Jenna Lafever): Oh, that's fun.
0:21:54 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah. Good time. So and so we all just, like.
0:21:57 - (Jenna Lafever): Walking around the streets. Is that like the show? I haven't.
0:22:00 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah, it's a first half was, like, interview style, where it's me and him going back and forth, and every episode is me wanting something from my guest. So I was like, he has an episode or a show called the Manning Hour on Fox. And so I was like, I want to be your new co host for the Manning hour. He was like, yeah, that's not going to happen. I was like, well, listen, right? So me trying to convince him, and it's. It's all comical.
0:22:19 - (Josh Mancuso): Um, and then we went to New Orleans, you know, Berber street, and just kind of ran around a little bit. Yeah. So that was episode one. Then we did Kerr Kirp street, who's a big college football, uh, name. I did him. And then we did Walker Zimmerman, who's a Olympic soccer player, World cup soccer player, plays for national soccer club. And then we did the guys from sec shorts. You ever seen them?
0:22:40 - (Lara Potter): Yes.
0:22:40 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah. Funny, funny guys. And then Tony. And so we got one more episode of that to shoot, and I don't know who my last guest is for. This is a six episode season, so we could just use this. This right here as the episode.
0:22:52 - (Jenna Lafever): Do you get nervous, like, talking, like, hanging out with these people, like, in that capacity?
0:22:56 - (Lara Potter): Like, just.
0:22:57 - (Jenna Lafever): I mean, I guess it's, like a french show.
0:22:58 - (Josh Mancuso): I would say they're nervous, probably, you know, most likely. Yeah.
0:23:03 - (Jenna Lafever): It is the Josh Mancuso show, after all.
0:23:05 - (Josh Mancuso): Actually, Cooper made a joke. He goes, well, he said something. What'd he say? He said some weird comment and then laughed. He goes, sorry. I get nervous for my famous people like that. Totally taking a shot. Cause I'm not famous. And, you know, I think Kirk Kerfstreet was, like, the coolest for me because, like, I've grown up watching Kurt do his whole.
0:23:27 - (Lara Potter): It was a really good episode. I did. I didn't see it. It was really fun, too.
0:23:32 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah.
0:23:32 - (Lara Potter): I mean, I'm also a Josh fan now.
0:23:34 - (Josh Mancuso): Right. Yes.
0:23:35 - (Jenna Lafever): Kirk fan.
0:23:35 - (Lara Potter): I thought I was gonna be, but I wanted to meet you in person first.
0:23:38 - (Josh Mancuso): Right.
0:23:38 - (Lara Potter): I didn't want to just base it off of, you know, just videos. Gotta make sure you're real.
0:23:42 - (Josh Mancuso): I still do have. I still do.
0:23:43 - (Lara Potter): So far.
0:23:44 - (Josh Mancuso): So far.
0:23:44 - (Lara Potter): We'll see. We got a few more.
0:23:46 - (Josh Mancuso): I could still ruin it.
0:23:48 - (Lara Potter): Exactly. Right. See where we're headed. So another episode of that.
0:23:52 - (Josh Mancuso): That's right. Yep.
0:23:53 - (Lara Potter): Acting wise, any.
0:23:54 - (Josh Mancuso): Well, you know, I done a couple auditions recently, but haven't gotten anything, so.
0:24:00 - (Jenna Lafever): But that's, like, part of the industry, right? It's, like, constantly turning out.
0:24:04 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah. I did a film last year. It's an indie film called it's all right now. Totally curveball from what I do in my regular day to day. Like, comedic lenses, like, a serious role. It was a supporting role. I had, like. Like, mustache and, like, chops like this. It was in 1970s film, and I played this kind of loser dad, and it was fun to explore that whole side. Like, every comedic actor was like, I want to be a real actor, like a dramatic actor. So that was.
0:24:32 - (Jenna Lafever): Is it hard to turn it off? Cause, like, you are, like, you know.
0:24:35 - (Lara Potter): Like, you're not a loser dad, right?
0:24:37 - (Jenna Lafever): You're not a loser dad. But then get into that while also still making these funny shorts and. Yeah, like, going back and forth between.
0:24:43 - (Josh Mancuso): Well, yeah. Cause I was always cracking jokes in between takes, in between things, you know.
0:24:48 - (Jenna Lafever): Then you're like, lose your dad.
0:24:49 - (Josh Mancuso): Then I'm like, right back into it. Let's go. Hand me a cigarette. I got, you know, some smoking to do. That was. That was pretty fun, by the way. I did. I went full method in that role. Full metal, method actor.
0:25:01 - (Lara Potter): I thought I was on met. I mean, twig. We went for cigarettes, and I thought.
0:25:08 - (Jenna Lafever): I went, well, okay.
0:25:09 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah. The leap to meth isn't that far from where I was.
0:25:12 - (Jenna Lafever): Yeah. They say cigarettes are the gateway drug.
0:25:15 - (Josh Mancuso): Absolutely. It's like cigarettes straight to meth. There's nothing between.
0:25:18 - (Lara Potter): Method acting.
0:25:19 - (Josh Mancuso): Method acting.
0:25:20 - (Lara Potter): You need to use actor. We're gonna need full words here.
0:25:22 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah, sorry. Method.
0:25:24 - (Jenna Lafever): I think you just said it fast.
0:25:25 - (Josh Mancuso): I think my voice cracked. I sometimes have that problem.
0:25:29 - (Lara Potter): I was her puberty, but didn't necessarily happen.
0:25:33 - (Josh Mancuso): Method acting and smoked real cigarettes. I sucked out, like, ten cigarettes. I don't smoke.
0:25:37 - (Jenna Lafever): And so were you inhaling?
0:25:38 - (Josh Mancuso): Oh, yeah.
0:25:39 - (Jenna Lafever): Oh, did it hurt?
0:25:41 - (Josh Mancuso): A little bit.
0:25:41 - (Jenna Lafever): Your throat?
0:25:42 - (Josh Mancuso): You're like, yeah, I had a sore throat for, like, three or four days afterwards.
0:25:45 - (Lara Potter): And you're.
0:25:46 - (Jenna Lafever): Hopefully they gave you a light. Like, a light one. Not like a marble.
0:25:49 - (Lara Potter): Red?
0:25:49 - (Josh Mancuso): No, like. Yeah. Good menthol, maybe. I know it was a light. It was a camel light or something like that.
0:25:54 - (Lara Potter): I'm glad you didn't pick up the habit.
0:25:56 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah. Thanks. Well, I've thought about it, but I decided, just for fun, I decided not to. I've read the surgeon general's warning and voted against methamphetamines. I'm interested in.
0:26:07 - (Lara Potter): Can we keep facing the Paul chance now we've made it back to meth, right?
0:26:11 - (Jenna Lafever): Okay.
0:26:11 - (Lara Potter): Yeah.
0:26:12 - (Josh Mancuso): All right.
0:26:12 - (Jenna Lafever): Meth. Okay.
0:26:14 - (Josh Mancuso): All right. So I did that role. So, I mean, really, like, this fall, we're off the rails. This is the first.
0:26:20 - (Lara Potter): Whoa. We've just been fired, but let's go ahead and finish this up, if you don't mind. Let's go ahead and finish.
0:26:27 - (Josh Mancuso): Well, this is a. Congrats on your final episode of meet me in Tennessee.
0:26:32 - (Lara Potter): Thank you for being here.
0:26:34 - (Josh Mancuso): I'm pretty laser focused on the football comedy. Like, this is my.
0:26:37 - (Jenna Lafever): Yeah, this is it.
0:26:37 - (Lara Potter): That's exactly right. Yeah.
0:26:39 - (Josh Mancuso): Like, the. The Josh Mancuso plan for success is leveraging all the football success and sports success and kind of parlaying that into on film, on screen stuff in 2025. So really kind of pushing that direction.
0:26:53 - (Jenna Lafever): Next year and then trying to do, like. I don't know if you seek out these opportunities to go to, like, the hall of fame or, like. Or do they just call, like, hey, you're doing cool stuff. We want you to come here. How does that work?
0:27:04 - (Josh Mancuso): That kind of stuff? They've they've just called me. They've said, hey, we love what you're doing. We'd love you to come be part of whatever. So, yeah, I got to go to the College Football hall of Fame awards, which is crazy. I met.
0:27:12 - (Jenna Lafever): That was awesome.
0:27:13 - (Josh Mancuso): Cool people. Yeah. Up out in Vegas. Um, and then I got to host the Davey O'Brien awards for the nation's best quarterback, uh, which was Jayden Daniels from LSU last year. Um, and then this. They just signed me on for a two year contract to come back and do the next two years.
0:27:26 - (Lara Potter): Wow.
0:27:26 - (Josh Mancuso): Out and forth with them. A lot of fun. So that. That's. Yeah, it's. You just never think, like, here I am making dumb videos in my office in northeast Tennessee, and these people are calling me, say, will you come do stuff with us? So, yeah, Clemson, Georgia, Oklahoma, all schools that I've gone and done, and you.
0:27:41 - (Jenna Lafever): Just go there and do, like, different talks. And do they want you to come there on campus to create content or.
0:27:46 - (Josh Mancuso): A little bit of both? Like, with Clemson, literally. Oh, graced. Or with Dabbo Sweeney, Weenie, whatever you want to call it. Dabbo is calling.
0:27:58 - (Jenna Lafever): My mom is going to watch this because she is.
0:28:01 - (Lara Potter): Well, because her daughter.
0:28:04 - (Jenna Lafever): And she's in my. Jenna. Why did you say. Why did she say, sorry, mom?
0:28:08 - (Lara Potter): She does say that.
0:28:09 - (Jenna Lafever): She does say that.
0:28:10 - (Josh Mancuso): Lots of great people I met at the hall of Fame awards in Vegas last year. But meeting Dabbo was pretty cool because somebody from the hall of fame was like, hey, you need to meet Dabo Sweeney. I was like, yeah, sure. So they were starting to introduce us, and he goes, I know who you are, man. He said, I know you are here. You're the guy that does the back and forth, the like. And he kept doing this. He's like, you do the back for the thing.
0:28:30 - (Jenna Lafever): I'm awesome.
0:28:31 - (Lara Potter): No, that thing still frowned to myself.
0:28:35 - (Josh Mancuso): That's right.
0:28:36 - (Lara Potter): Whatever makes my calls it.
0:28:37 - (Josh Mancuso): Remember, his son send them all my stuff because he's not real on social media either. So he's like, can I get your number? Like, I want to, like, have you come down to Clemson?
0:28:46 - (Lara Potter): And that's awesome.
0:28:47 - (Josh Mancuso): So later that year, I went down. It was like, a few days before they left for their bowl game against Kentucky.
0:28:54 - (Lara Potter): I remember that one.
0:28:55 - (Jenna Lafever): I'm guessing who won.
0:28:57 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah, Clemson won that one.
0:28:58 - (Jenna Lafever): I figured.
0:28:59 - (Josh Mancuso): So I came and spoke to the team a few days before, which is, I'm sure was the fuel that led them to the victim.
0:29:05 - (Lara Potter): I wouldn't mind get in front of.
0:29:06 - (Jenna Lafever): The team and say, hey, guys, I'm Joshua.
0:29:07 - (Josh Mancuso): Hey, hey, hey, what's up?
0:29:10 - (Lara Potter): I'm going to be making a phone call to the University of Kentucky. Chase.
0:29:14 - (Jenna Lafever): We booked this guy.
0:29:15 - (Lara Potter): Pep talk. That's right.
0:29:16 - (Josh Mancuso): Guaranteed to win our bowl games from Josh. That's right. He's going to do this.
0:29:20 - (Jenna Lafever): Yeah.
0:29:21 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah. For people. People just listening and they're like, what are they doing, you think, with their.
0:29:25 - (Lara Potter): Right. Oh, that's right. Wasps, you know?
0:29:30 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah, that's my dad before. He's awesome. And to go back to Clemson.
0:29:36 - (Jenna Lafever): Clamps. So you've had a far drive. It's a good, easy drive.
0:29:38 - (Lara Potter): You've had a lot of opportunities, and still do, to travel all around the world. But you do live here in northeast Tennessee.
0:29:43 - (Josh Mancuso): I do.
0:29:44 - (Lara Potter): Raising a family here in northeast Tennessee. So let's talk through. You've been here for a number of years now. What do you love most about northeast Tennessee? And then let's talk about raising a family here.
0:29:55 - (Jenna Lafever): And then let's talk about.
0:29:57 - (Lara Potter): Yeah, it's a five part question because I want to see if he can.
0:30:01 - (Josh Mancuso): And then we'll talk about Tennessee football again after that.
0:30:04 - (Jenna Lafever): We want to hear about you guys in Johnson City for northeast Tennessee.
0:30:08 - (Josh Mancuso): I love Johnson City. You know, I think we've had opportunities to leave at other times in the past, and we've said, we like it here, we like living here. I love. It's all this. All the same stuff everybody says, right? Small town, love the mountains, love the people, love the culture there. It's sort of this, you know, I guess, hidden secret to a lot of people who come here from other places. They're like, do you guys realize what you have here?
0:30:33 - (Josh Mancuso): Like, we do. We do realize it and we love it. Like, tell a lot of people, but not too many people, and it's good. We love it. I love the. I guess the. What's the word? Camaraderie is. That's a word.
0:30:48 - (Jenna Lafever): It's a word, yeah.
0:30:49 - (Lara Potter): I mean, it is a word.
0:30:50 - (Josh Mancuso): Appropriate. More of the, um. Just the people, the community. Community. That's the one. Thank you. I do. It was a c. Camaraderie and camaraderie.
0:31:00 - (Lara Potter): It works.
0:31:01 - (Josh Mancuso): It's. Yeah.
0:31:01 - (Lara Potter): Either worked.
0:31:02 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah.
0:31:02 - (Lara Potter): Camaraderie, you really.
0:31:05 - (Jenna Lafever): Cities and hidden gems.
0:31:06 - (Lara Potter): You need Alicia, I'll director to write a script for this part next time. Go ahead.
0:31:11 - (Josh Mancuso): We do. Yeah.
0:31:11 - (Jenna Lafever): No, thank you, though.
0:31:13 - (Josh Mancuso): Operate without a script.
0:31:14 - (Lara Potter): Right, right.
0:31:15 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah. So I like the community. That's the word I was looking for. Um, it's. It's small, but it also. You got some things to do, though. It's not like you're, you know, I'll tell people, like, when I travel, like, I live in a small town called Johnson State, Tennessee. And first of all, they're like, look, the song wagon will. I'm like, yeah, that's exactly right. Yeah. And, um, like, like, how many people? I'm like, I think like 70,000. They're like, that's not that small. Like, that's a small town, but that's not like, you mean, it's not like it was a tiny town.
0:31:40 - (Jenna Lafever): Yeah.
0:31:40 - (Josh Mancuso): Like, well, I'm standing, you know, in, you know, Los Angeles, so it is a small town compared to where we are now, but it's. It's John seat. A great place, because there's a lot of cool things to do. Yeah.
0:31:51 - (Lara Potter): What is your family, what do you all like today?
0:31:53 - (Jenna Lafever): What do you guys do?
0:31:53 - (Josh Mancuso): We do, I mean, we're definitely downtowners. We come downtown, do the parks. You know, founders do the music on Fridays during the summers. The festivals bloom. Plum, we came down here for that. The playground downtown. My youngest daughter likes that playground.
0:32:08 - (Jenna Lafever): Yeah, by the library.
0:32:09 - (Josh Mancuso): By the library. Gets to get the cardboard slide down the hill. We're doing that. Um, you know, you can. You can frequently find me hitting up a brewery, um, every now and then down here. Uh, what else do we do?
0:32:21 - (Lara Potter): Well, so, you know, right here in our northeast Tennessee, a big selling point for us to get people to come here is Bristol Motor Speedway.
0:32:28 - (Josh Mancuso): So, yeah, you're.
0:32:30 - (Lara Potter): You're racing. You're a racing guy?
0:32:32 - (Josh Mancuso): Well, you know, I wouldn't call myself a racing guy, but I started working with Bristol several years ago, and I started to follow racing and think it was really cool at that moment. It's like, I've been to some races. Like, what a cool experience. But then I got to go by the scenes a little bit and be down in. Around the pits and stuff more, be around the drivers. And I was like, man, this. This is cool. Like, this is a cool culture. And I like race. It's pretty exciting.
0:32:54 - (Jenna Lafever): And race fans are fun.
0:32:55 - (Josh Mancuso): Race fans are the best.
0:32:56 - (Jenna Lafever): They are the best.
0:32:58 - (Josh Mancuso): They're awesome.
0:32:59 - (Lara Potter): They are loyal to race fans and soccer fans. Some of the craziest people.
0:33:07 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah, yeah. Love the races at Bristol. The night race, nothing like it.
0:33:12 - (Jenna Lafever): Like, I mean, weeks, just FYI.
0:33:17 - (Josh Mancuso): Make sure you're there by tickets today.
0:33:19 - (Jenna Lafever): Call me.
0:33:20 - (Josh Mancuso): I've. Honestly, it's one of the things I do say to people when I travel. Like, where's Johnson City? I'm like, okay, it's kind of near Knoxville, but not. I mean, not really. It's more like up in the corner. Like, Bristol is another town. I was like, I've heard of Bristol Motors, b way and NASCAR track. Okay, yeah, I think so. And so then I'm like, you should go to the night race. You should come check it out. Stay.
0:33:37 - (Josh Mancuso): I'm out there evangelizing for our community all the time, guys we love. That's what I do.
0:33:41 - (Lara Potter): Thank you.
0:33:42 - (Josh Mancuso): You know, so, hey, we're gonna get.
0:33:44 - (Jenna Lafever): You a northeast Tennessee mug and sticker for that.
0:33:48 - (Lara Potter): Okay. As we continue to go viral our merch and swag, we'll make sure that you have some to wear.
0:33:56 - (Jenna Lafever): It's gonna say meet me in Tennessee. Right. And you can just have that.
0:33:59 - (Josh Mancuso): Literally. I've traveled the country. I like, you need to go to the night race, you need to come to Jones City or you need to go to bays. Mountainous.
0:34:04 - (Jenna Lafever): That's right.
0:34:05 - (Josh Mancuso): You need to do the treats. Trail all the things. We've got all the things. So, yeah, we appreciate that.
0:34:10 - (Jenna Lafever): I know, like when I was at visit Johnson City like that, I used BMS as like the identifier of the region because so many people know it. People from all over come to the races. But yeah, I was like, oh, where are you? Where are you at in Tennessee? How close are you to Nashville? It's like, well, we're kind of in the corner. Yeah, about 4 hours in some chain. Do you know where Bristol Motor skiway is?
0:34:30 - (Lara Potter): You know, we're going to have a cool baseball game at the track. It's not just about racing there. They've really taken that and found ways to utilize the track even further than just those cars making that circle right.
0:34:42 - (Josh Mancuso): Here in northeast Tennessee. They're not doing that game in, you know, Texas.
0:34:45 - (Lara Potter): That's exactly right.
0:34:46 - (Josh Mancuso): Another place in the here that's like, we're cool. This is cool.
0:34:49 - (Jenna Lafever): Are you going to get into the MLB stuff? We're going to do some Braves and Reds spoofs. You know, we'll have to get you out to the game next August.
0:34:56 - (Josh Mancuso): Braves Reds video coming, I think at that point. Yeah, yeah, I. Baseball is probably the sport that I have done the least amount of stuff with really just because of time. Like, it's mainly college football, NFL, then college basketball. But I would love to do baseball though, because I still have my roots in LA with my baseball team. I like the Dodgers and Angels, so I'm the only one wearing Dodgers hats around here.
0:35:24 - (Josh Mancuso): So baseball, that'd be a good one to do.
0:35:27 - (Lara Potter): So maybe next summer, the timing would be perfect, you know?
0:35:29 - (Jenna Lafever): That's right.
0:35:30 - (Lara Potter): Exciting.
0:35:30 - (Jenna Lafever): Bring you back out to the track.
0:35:31 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah.
0:35:32 - (Jenna Lafever): And then if we ever get another college football game, just gravy.
0:35:35 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah. How cool was that? The Battle of Bristol.
0:35:38 - (Jenna Lafever): That was awful.
0:35:39 - (Josh Mancuso): That was one of the coolest sporting events. But that was one thing I talked to Kirk Kirfsteet about. He remembered that.
0:35:43 - (Jenna Lafever): Yeah.
0:35:44 - (Josh Mancuso): And he was like, that was a spectacle.
0:35:46 - (Lara Potter): Well, and if you've never been inside of Bristol Motor Speedway. So I'm not a huge nASCAR fan. Didn't really grow up with it. Is it a cool sport? Absolutely. But to walk inside of that venue, well, it's unlike anything else in North America, for that matter.
0:36:01 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah, yeah.
0:36:02 - (Lara Potter): And I try to explain, like, you just don't understand until you walk in there. It can be.
0:36:06 - (Josh Mancuso): You gotta do it to see it. Yeah.
0:36:07 - (Jenna Lafever): Yeah.
0:36:07 - (Lara Potter): It is just a cool experience, whether it is a race. I've done a, like, an american cancer society walk there before and cocktail hour. Yeah. Lots of diversity there at the track, but it's just a really cool venue that I am so thankful that we have right here in northeast, and it.
0:36:27 - (Josh Mancuso): Is a lot of different people to go the races and that go to Bristol. And it is unlike anything else. Like, you have to experience it in person. You can watch on tv, and I know, like, heavy NASCAR fans, they'll watch races on tv, and I'll occasionally, you know, pull one up, but if you got to go in person, because it is.
0:36:41 - (Jenna Lafever): Yeah, it is different.
0:36:42 - (Josh Mancuso): You don't have to be a crazy race fan. You just have to, you know, enjoy an experience.
0:36:47 - (Jenna Lafever): It's a, you know, the camaraderie, if you will.
0:36:50 - (Josh Mancuso): Camaraderie is kind of the word that I was there.
0:36:52 - (Jenna Lafever): That's the word that I was thinking I would use.
0:36:55 - (Josh Mancuso): It's a racing camaraderie, really.
0:36:58 - (Lara Potter): Hey, Josh. Thank you. This is your busy, busy time football season. We look forward to what's ahead from you and all the laughs and all of the things. And so thank you for taking time.
0:37:09 - (Jenna Lafever): We will be sure to be one or two or five views of your 5 million on your next video, please.
0:37:15 - (Lara Potter): This is going to send it just this.
0:37:17 - (Josh Mancuso): This right here is going to be it. I'm supposed to be working right now.
0:37:20 - (Jenna Lafever): So, hey, tell people how they can find you and follow you. For anyone that doesn't.
0:37:24 - (Josh Mancuso): That's. Yes, it's just my name. Josh Mancuso. That's my handle. Josh Mancuso website. Josh mancuso.com.
0:37:30 - (Jenna Lafever): Easy.
0:37:31 - (Lara Potter): And check out the john. The Josh Mancuso show.
0:37:34 - (Josh Mancuso): That's right. He's so easy. I try to make it easier for people.
0:37:36 - (Jenna Lafever): I mean. Yeah, that should. That should do it.
0:37:40 - (Josh Mancuso): Folks from Alabama, they need it easy. They need a.
0:37:43 - (Jenna Lafever): Need to spell that out.
0:37:44 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah, for those folks. Josh Mancuso. M a n c U s n. There you go. If I have to spell Josh, then you're from Alabama for sure. That's not gonna make the cutting.
0:37:54 - (Lara Potter): There's no cutting phone. There's no cutting edge. We don't edit this other than cutting the show completely. After this, she's gonna cut us, right?
0:38:00 - (Jenna Lafever): Yeah.
0:38:00 - (Lara Potter): That's okay.
0:38:01 - (Jenna Lafever): She said you too long on meth during that episode.
0:38:04 - (Josh Mancuso): Yeah, a little bit of meth talk, but, yeah.
0:38:05 - (Lara Potter): Yeah, some editing that's gonna happen.
0:38:07 - (Josh Mancuso): Yes.
