[REBROADCAST] Yazeba’s Bed & Breakfast | Chapter 7 - The Witch’s Missing Shadow

Episode Transcript

[SPEAKER_00]: As long as you want, or as long as you can, as long as you're alright.

[SPEAKER_00]: I stayed for nights, oh I'm mistaken, I've lived here all my life.

[SPEAKER_00]: No, wouldn't be.

[SPEAKER_00]: But everything to see, okay, what's next?

[SPEAKER_00]: And, yes, he was the best and the best!

[SPEAKER_06]: Once upon a time, the world was cruel, and there was a witch who knew it well, and so she sold her heart to build a house in the woods with a world could never find her.

[SPEAKER_06]: At first, she would let no one into her fortress, but, in the long march of days, a strange thing happened.

[SPEAKER_06]: In her own cold and spiteful way, the witch made a friend, and then another, and then several more until her house was teeming with colorful faces and complicated lives, the house would come to be known as Yazaba's bed and breakfast, and it would last for a very long time.

[SPEAKER_06]: Featuring?

[SPEAKER_03]: M.

Friedman as Amelie.

[SPEAKER_10]: Michelle Jan Bennett as Yuziba.

[SPEAKER_03]: Carolyn Page as Raggin Rose.

[SPEAKER_06]: Ellie Davis as Parish.

[SPEAKER_06]: And Brian Flarity as Zow.

[SPEAKER_06]: And your humble concierge.

[SPEAKER_06]: On the front door of Yzeba's bed breakfast, there is a sign which reads, no soliciting, trespassing, romance, snooping, snitching, or unnecessary small talk, welcome.

[SPEAKER_06]: Yzeba reserves her temper for those she catches violating these rules.

[SPEAKER_06]: But underneath that sign is a second smaller sign, which reads, room for everyone.

[SPEAKER_06]: It is always September 15th inside the bed and breakfast, even if it's spring, winter, or fall outside, because September 15th is your Zabas' favorite day of the year.

[SPEAKER_06]: And on this particular September 15th, it was a blustery sort of day.

[SPEAKER_06]: With a wind of the geared and dove, at anyone with loose papers, but did nothing to move the dark and heavy clouds overhead.

[SPEAKER_06]: Yzeva had been away for a while now on, which he business.

[SPEAKER_06]: A phrase which meant, errands that Yzeva didn't want to do, but had to.

[SPEAKER_06]: Amelie loath when Yezaba went away.

[SPEAKER_06]: Both because it meant some people would take it as excuse to play loud music until very late at night, and that the witch would return in a horrible mood.

[SPEAKER_06]: And thus, Amelie knew precisely what to expect when they heard Yezaba's bicycle touch down against the front porch.

[SPEAKER_06]: The front door slammed open without her even touching it and she strode into the bed and breakfast, a trail of battered leaves swirling across the threshold as she wrestled with the wind nots in her hair.

[SPEAKER_06]: With one gesture, her enormous fur coat first itself on a rack.

[SPEAKER_06]: Her cigarette disappeared in a puff of smoke with a snap of her fingers leaving ash mingling with the autumn leaves.

[SPEAKER_04]: Unacceptable.

[SPEAKER_06]: I'm only thought to themselves, analyzing the leaves.

[SPEAKER_06]: They turned to grab their dust pan from the broom closet, but realized it was missing.

[SPEAKER_06]: The only thing inside was an old liquor broom.

[SPEAKER_06]: Some people...

...is they have a grouse into an empty foyer?

[SPEAKER_10]: Just have no sense of perspective.

[SPEAKER_10]: They never see what or who was really important.

[SPEAKER_10]: I have no patience for it.

[SPEAKER_06]: I'm only passed her unnoticed and swish, swish, swish, [SPEAKER_06]: The witch and the robot both froze and looked down at the broom, where they saw a newspaper shadow caught up in the bristles and severed from its mistress.

[SPEAKER_06]: It grinned back at them, wiggled free and shot of the stairs.

[SPEAKER_06]: The wind shook the bed and breakfast like a howl of laughter, and only could hear a vase shattered at the top of the hall.

[SPEAKER_06]: Flowers of fire is able whispered in the sudden quiet or face very grim did anyone see which way it went And thus begins chapter seven to which is missing shadow [SPEAKER_06]: This is an eerie chapter of Josev's Ben breakfast.

[SPEAKER_06]: So before this chapter starts, we shuffle together a deck of cards which will be used as our play mechanic throughout the game.

[SPEAKER_06]: Whenever anyone wants to push onwards in the story, they do a bingo or a wipsy and flip cards from the deck until they reveal an omen card which is a face card to a jack queen king or ace.

[SPEAKER_06]: If they do a bingo, they'll flip the top card until they reveal an omen card of the black suits.

[SPEAKER_06]: Whenever someone reveals an Oman card of the correct color, they'll consult the chapter's rules to find out what happens next, and it will hold onto that Oman card unless the rules say otherwise.

[SPEAKER_06]: These will be used for our housekeeping at the end of the session.

[SPEAKER_06]: If the deck runs out of cards before we find an Oman card of the right suit, there will be a moment of quiet unease and we will shuffle any unclaimed cards back into the deck.

[SPEAKER_06]: We can hear the shadows crashing around all throughout the bed and breakfast.

[SPEAKER_06]: You hear bangs and crashes from the various bed rooms and bath rooms and linen closets, all which are somehow next to each other regardless of which one you are in.

[SPEAKER_06]: And we know that the shadow will wreck the place if we don't try to fix it up.

[SPEAKER_06]: So when an Oman card does come up, everyone will hear the racket the shadow is making and will move forward towards it.

[SPEAKER_06]: At any time, anyone can toss aside one of their Oman cards that they've collected in order to pause and to clean up a portion of the mess, thus crossing it off of the list.

[SPEAKER_06]: Any time that a heart-building card is revealed, rather than just hearing some racket as we do in the other ones, any of the players will be able to grab a guest that is not being currently played and tell us how the shadow has interacted with them.

[SPEAKER_06]: Which would be very fun, hopefully we could see a whole host of other people than those who are just playing here right now.

[SPEAKER_06]: Whenever we reveal an ace, Yzeva's shadow has snuck up on us.

[SPEAKER_06]: It will be slippery and faster than light will do mischief and try to escape.

[SPEAKER_06]: Everyone does a whipsy about it and then whoever revealed the ace gets to collect it.

[SPEAKER_06]: If we can collectively toss aside three aces, we will be able to catch the shadow.

[SPEAKER_06]: We can describe how we corner it and trap it and the chapter will end with Yzeva deciding what to do with it.

[SPEAKER_06]: If the chapter ends and there are more than five bumps and crashes that are checked off, but not crossed out, we give the bed and breakfast a broken vase.

[SPEAKER_06]: Otherwise, we give the bed and breakfast a hammer and we get to hold on to whatever left over own cards we've collected for housekeeping.

[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, so as we go, we'll be really these own cards.

[SPEAKER_06]: We're going to hopefully be trying to clean up the mess as we go and we'll see exactly how successful we are.

[SPEAKER_06]: As the shadow scurries up the stairs, very quickly you begin to hear.

[SPEAKER_06]: screens from various parts of the bed and breakfast, two floors up, three floors up, up in the observatory, maybe in Yazeva's study everywhere.

[SPEAKER_06]: As we open, we see down in the the foyer, Yazeva and Amale both looking a gap up the stairs, and wandering in from the kitchen is a very confused parish.

[SPEAKER_06]: Ellie, you describe parish floors.

[SPEAKER_14]: Yeah, uh, parish is a little frog who formerly was a knight, uh, but currently a cook.

[SPEAKER_14]: And, uh, parish steps out of the kitchen, aprons still on was in the middle of making some baked goods.

[SPEAKER_14]: Um, under the apron, a nice, like, multi-colored handmade sweater.

[SPEAKER_14]: Maybe he's able to made it when she was feeling in a good mood at one point.

[SPEAKER_14]: and a little bit of flower kind of speckled on and then some jean shorts that are more like pants on parish because of his little legs and uh prog feet always showing not a shoe guy not a shoe guy parish as you come into the room what do you say oh yeah parish comes he's like what what what's going on what's that noise so many misses [SPEAKER_10]: embarrassingly enough, uh, my shadow has detached itself from my form and is currently running a mock upstairs.

[SPEAKER_10]: I think it's made its way to my study or readably enough.

[SPEAKER_06]: And as you say, Babaris, uh, her face in her hands, can you, uh, describe what is able to look like?

[SPEAKER_10]: Yezabas, what we women would call an apple body type, broad shoulders, really dry skin, classic which face.

[SPEAKER_10]: We're talking straight out of snow white, blasting sticks, left and right, sort of fried hair under a good old fashioned purple which had her apple body type is covered [SPEAKER_10]: Um, and she has, like, stripes, stockings, and square toe shoes, because as everyone knows, since we all live in raw dolls, worlds, which just have, uh, no toes.

[SPEAKER_10]: So square shoes are more comfortable.

[SPEAKER_06]: I didn't know that I felt rolled to all.

[SPEAKER_06]: And as you say this, you, you look across from you and you see, Omelette, um, Emily, can you describe what Omelette looks like?

[SPEAKER_03]: Omeli looks about as distressed at this moment as it is possible for a robot with a largely unmoving face to appear, but their bright kind of twin pin points blue eye glowing beams have gotten as large as they can in their smooth metallic face.

[SPEAKER_03]: They are technically naked aside from a bright yellow to pink ombre cape and a very fluffy pink feather duster.

[SPEAKER_03]: There's clearly at the height of a haked and some other folks in the bed breakfast, some strategically placed stickers of glittery tights.

[SPEAKER_03]: that have not yet been removed at that kind of shin level and there is a distinct increasing vibration as this is happening.

[SPEAKER_03]: All of this is happening.

[SPEAKER_03]: They are not going to stay here for a long.

[SPEAKER_06]: you also hear a cry come up.

[SPEAKER_06]: Whoa, and bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, a bunch of someone like basically kind of half balls, half runs down the stairs, and you see the figure of sound wearing what was clearly once a like school uniform is like a gray pleaded skirt, [SPEAKER_06]: a cardigan kind of thing going over it that at one point clearly said St.

[SPEAKER_06]: Olga's preparatory school for beautiful souls or something but the beautiful has been crossed out and there's a bunch of different pins like pins of the day that are like for metal souls, for hardcore souls, for punk rock souls, currently it's sitting on punk rock and all of the clothing that was once this very like premium proper school uniform has been cut and spliced to make it just that a little bit more like punk rock [SPEAKER_07]: Style comes down, it looks like it was, did you guys see that?

[SPEAKER_07]: It was wild, it had crazy eyes and it ran past me and it was like, blackest and I knew it was super creepy and it was bangin' into the stuff and it just seemed to be knocking over everything.

[SPEAKER_04]: What is he?

[SPEAKER_07]: Last time I saw it, it was heading up towards the observatory but yeah, I don't know if it's still under construction so I don't know if it's gonna get in there but I don't, I don't want it to get into the observatory I mean, woo, woo.

[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, we simply cannot have that.

[SPEAKER_04]: So many crinkles.

[SPEAKER_14]: Parish runs into the kitchen.

[SPEAKER_12]: He's like, well, if it's a hunt, we have on our hands.

[SPEAKER_12]: We need weapons.

[SPEAKER_14]: And he comes back with an arm full of like whisk and spatula.

[SPEAKER_14]: And wooden spoons.

[SPEAKER_12]: And it's like, alright, everyone, take one.

[SPEAKER_06]: Sal reaches in and grabs a rubber spatula.

[SPEAKER_06]: It's just kind of like waving it around just making it go Completely fogly.

[SPEAKER_12]: Good.

[SPEAKER_10]: Good.

[SPEAKER_10]: Oh good.

[SPEAKER_12]: I can't wait to mix my shadow into submission Now you say, but what may look like a whisk to you might look like a fierce mace to the shadow [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, I'm sure my shadow who can bend the rules of physics and light is really scared of your friggin' whisk.

[SPEAKER_10]: Let's go.

[SPEAKER_10]: I got, as Umly said, a lot of breakables in my room can't have this.

[SPEAKER_10]: A lot of collectible items.

[SPEAKER_10]: I put a lot of years into collecting those.

[SPEAKER_10]: They're rackin' up prices on eBay.

[SPEAKER_10]: Let's go.

[SPEAKER_10]: I can't.

[SPEAKER_06]: And I think it's about this time when Parrish shouts out, we've got weapons, we've got weapons that we hear a very clikky, clacky set of footsteps come around the corner from the study.

[SPEAKER_06]: Carolyn, tell us, what do we see in the figure of Rag and Bones?

[SPEAKER_02]: You behold what your eyes, a skeleton, just a skeleton, five, five, and in the ramps of the skeleton you see tiny pink little rat hands and there's a rat in my rib cage ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha [SPEAKER_15]: You see in the skeletons arms, he's also holding a stack of very old pretty valuable looking tombs that are a little dusty as if they were on a top shelf hidden or hidden away somewhere.

[SPEAKER_15]: And then he just turns around and puts and drops the toms and then just like kicks them behind his shin to try and hide them All right, you're lucky.

[SPEAKER_10]: We need your brute strength Mr.

Mussels.

[SPEAKER_02]: Let's go upstairs I'll go upstairs.

[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, you're safer.

[SPEAKER_02]: He looks down and realizes you don't have your shadow Oh, this is delicious [SPEAKER_06]: You see, uh, sal is going to, uh, spatula rubber spatula in hand.

[SPEAKER_06]: Uh, I think it's even grabbed two of them.

[SPEAKER_06]: So it's just kind of got fully flammable spatula in both hands.

[SPEAKER_06]: Uh, it's going to do, uh, the first, Whoopsie of this and is going to start to lead you forward.

[SPEAKER_06]: Lead him forward, faking confidence.

[SPEAKER_07]: All right.

[SPEAKER_07]: I, uh, I got this, which is just everyone, you know, just follow behind me and everything's going to be, it's going to be okay.

[SPEAKER_06]: And because I'm doing a...

Whoopsie, I'm gonna flip from the cards until I reveal a...

A red card.

[SPEAKER_06]: Do it, do it, do it.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm coming, but I'm not going to help, I'm just here to watch!

[SPEAKER_06]: Okay, that is the Jack of Diamonds.

[SPEAKER_06]: From upstairs, watch!

[SPEAKER_06]: A large cabinet directly at the top of the stairs that was containing like China and good stuff falls over and is smashed to pieces as all of a sudden we hear and a shadow flies around the corner.

[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, heaven's old deer.

[SPEAKER_06]: You just see Salgo, and just start batting at the various bits of shadow around the room.

[SPEAKER_06]: Shadow's being cast by everything.

[SPEAKER_12]: Just like, get back everybody, back down, down, down, down.

[SPEAKER_12]: Yeah, yeah, it's gone.

[SPEAKER_07]: Oh, okay, all right, yeah.

[SPEAKER_03]: Amelie is going to do the second Whoopsie of the game and refuse to diverge from my programming.

[SPEAKER_03]: I hear Shattered China I am be lining for it.

[SPEAKER_06]: Hell yeah.

[SPEAKER_03]: So many number cards.

[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, what red, right?

[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, you got to get red.

[SPEAKER_03]: We have to wait for red, a ace of hearts.

[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, okay, so this is the first of our frightened friends.

[SPEAKER_06]: Every time an element from the heart suit comes up, someone or anyone gets to grab a guest that no one is playing and have them tell the others what has them in a tizzy.

[SPEAKER_06]: So if anyone wants, they can grab one of the other guests from the playbook.

[SPEAKER_06]: and have them emerge from a room and tell us what the hell they just saw.

[SPEAKER_03]: If I may, on my way to clean up, I run into the rabbits in the garden who wear little outfits, who have been kind of piling out of a nearby doorway and they're stacking on top of each other in the kind of three goblins and a trench coat sort of manner.

[SPEAKER_03]: So I have to kind of wade through them, [SPEAKER_04]: Excuse me.

[SPEAKER_04]: Excuse me.

[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.

[SPEAKER_04]: Excuse me.

[SPEAKER_04]: Thank you so much.

[SPEAKER_04]: I'm just trying to get over here.

[SPEAKER_04]: Thank you.

[SPEAKER_04]: Thank you.

[SPEAKER_06]: And you just see all the rabbits.

[SPEAKER_06]: You're like jumping around.

[SPEAKER_12]: What's that?

[SPEAKER_12]: Hey, what?

[SPEAKER_12]: What was that?

[SPEAKER_12]: Ah, good.

[SPEAKER_12]: More hands.

[SPEAKER_12]: Take a weapon.

[SPEAKER_12]: Take a weapon, rabbits.

[SPEAKER_06]: You just hand them each like, uh, like, binging with radish, tiny whisks.

[SPEAKER_06]: Tiny whisks?

[SPEAKER_06]: A little tiny whisk.

[SPEAKER_06]: And each of them are holding them, like, battle measers.

[SPEAKER_06]: Bounce it on top of each other.

[SPEAKER_08]: Two arms, two arms, gentlemen.

[SPEAKER_02]: Two arms.

[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, uh, excuse me, uh, miss rabbit.

[SPEAKER_15]: I tap a rabbit on the shoulder and then, well, they're not looking steal the whisk from them and give it to Rato.

[SPEAKER_06]: You just see one of the rabbits goes, what?

[SPEAKER_06]: And all of a sudden, like, there's a leg of this, like, rat mech is, like, fighting with themselves to try to figure out who gets what whisk.

[SPEAKER_10]: Sorry to deter you from trying to get into an R-rated movie, rabbits, but uh, let's, uh, we gotta get to the, uh, my room because my collectibles are getting smashed to bits.

[SPEAKER_10]: My shadow's gone to the good China.

[SPEAKER_10]: Odd word.

[SPEAKER_10]: Which means no fancy dinner on Friday, which I know is everyone's favorite moving holiday.

[SPEAKER_07]: Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo [SPEAKER_02]: I can't eat, but I like that time because everyone else is in one place and I go through your stuff when you're not there!

[SPEAKER_10]: Oh, you don't, you also love wearing your outfit, your little outfits.

[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, of course, little outfits.

[SPEAKER_06]: We have a winner on our own.

[SPEAKER_10]: We have a winner on our own.

[SPEAKER_06]: Except for the rabbits, they wear one big outfit for fans.

[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah, he isn't that what a trench coat is anyways.

[SPEAKER_15]: What is a trench coat, but one big outfit for three govelins and door children?

[SPEAKER_06]: I think Sal is going to take some opportunity as the shadow darts around the corner.

[SPEAKER_06]: We here, from around the corner, and Sal is going to do a bingo, do it again, but louder, and it's going to charge forwards, bachelor's and head, and runs down the whole trying to catch these things.

[SPEAKER_06]: Some of the flipping cards for a black card.

[SPEAKER_06]: A black face card.

[SPEAKER_06]: Ooh, I wish it.

[SPEAKER_06]: Man, we're moving.

[SPEAKER_06]: We're grooving.

[SPEAKER_06]: Ace of clubs.

[SPEAKER_03]: And it's the second Ace we've revealed in a row.

[SPEAKER_06]: It's the second Ace we've revealed in the row.

[SPEAKER_06]: So because it was the second Ace we've revealed in a row, there's an uneasy moment of quiet.

[SPEAKER_06]: And we shuffle this Ace back into the deck.

[SPEAKER_15]: Everyone's really thinking about Friday dinner, not being a possibility.

[SPEAKER_06]: Like I think this just became real for everyone I had my little outfit and I had the ingredients and I had picked a recipe You guys hear Sal go And runs down the hall you hear that voice just kind of slowly disappear [SPEAKER_06]: And all of you just sit there, contemplating the idea of no fancy dinner on Friday.

[SPEAKER_06]: You guys hear Sal's voice disappear off into the distance, and then all of a sudden you hear a...

And Sal comes running back to you guys, and hides immediately behind your Zeva.

[SPEAKER_10]: Zeva, your shadow scarier than you.

[SPEAKER_10]: Really?

[SPEAKER_10]: Because it has a really impissional.

[SPEAKER_10]: That's what makes it more frightening.

[SPEAKER_07]: Don't make me do it.

[SPEAKER_07]: Just a but I don't I don't think that your laugh could possibly be any more scary than that shadows in fish giggle.

[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, there is something deeply sinister about a new fish giggle now that I think about it.

[SPEAKER_10]: Maybe I should start doing one.

[SPEAKER_10]: Raise your hand if you think I should adopt an in fish giggle.

[SPEAKER_02]: I, I, I, I have definitely certainly.

[SPEAKER_06]: 150 rabbits all raised their hand.

[SPEAKER_10]: All right.

[SPEAKER_10]: Well, we'll consider it.

[SPEAKER_10]: Maybe I'll introduce it at Fancy Dinner because we got to take this we got to take this shadow out and buy that I mean reattach it to me so that I can get my good China and host Fancy Dinner and premiere my in fish cake all.

[SPEAKER_10]: Oh god.

[SPEAKER_06]: You hear the rabbit at the nose of the rabbits without with tiny outfits going.

[SPEAKER_06]: Two arms, two of them, two arms and a whole swarming is good on the hallway.

[SPEAKER_14]: Um, Parish attempts to jump or board that swarming and ride them like a horse into battle and charge more fancy dinner.

[SPEAKER_14]: And uh, we're gonna do a Whoopsie and lose track of reality.

[SPEAKER_14]: Uh, well, I have some flat of fancy.

[SPEAKER_12]: And Paris just like, for the Queen, we march on this day, for fancy dinner.

[SPEAKER_14]: Just a whole salivately as he goes.

[SPEAKER_14]: And I'm gonna pull it.

[SPEAKER_14]: That's a Whoopsie that I've also done.

[SPEAKER_14]: Whoopsie is red.

[SPEAKER_14]: Whoopsie is red.

[SPEAKER_14]: Okay.

[SPEAKER_14]: Oh, hello.

[SPEAKER_14]: Uh, then is the King of Hearts, so another guest, right?

[SPEAKER_03]: Right in France.

[SPEAKER_14]: Friends, friends, we love friends.

[SPEAKER_14]: As the Rabbits and Parish are charging around the corner, all this and you see like a glow, like a red glow coming down the hallway, and you hear like a...

[SPEAKER_14]: Um, and coming running around the corner like tumbling down the stairs, uh, is person combustion this like, uh, magma elemental lava elemental and he's like, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, [SPEAKER_02]: Are you hacked and a little bit?

[SPEAKER_11]: I don't really feel pain.

[SPEAKER_10]: Oh.

[SPEAKER_10]: Nobody gets to push you down the stairs except me.

[SPEAKER_10]: Oh.

[SPEAKER_11]: Okay.

[SPEAKER_10]: By the way, what do you- what would you think if I adopted an ambitious gigal?

[SPEAKER_13]: Um, could I hear a sample?

[SPEAKER_13]: now.

[SPEAKER_13]: Well, I think it'd be good.

[SPEAKER_13]: I think it'd be good for, uh, for your, uh, you know, sense of terror and intimidation.

[SPEAKER_10]: Terror.

[SPEAKER_10]: I thought you were going to say a sense of play, and I was like, absolutely not.

[SPEAKER_10]: But if it's sense of terror, I'm thinking about it.

[SPEAKER_10]: You know what?

[SPEAKER_10]: Let's raise the stakes.

[SPEAKER_10]: If we catch the shadow, all premier an impish giggle tonight.

[SPEAKER_10]: Oh, boy.

[SPEAKER_02]: Now he is a rat.

[SPEAKER_02]: The question?

[SPEAKER_10]: Yes.

[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

[SPEAKER_02]: So, how do you catch a shadow?

[SPEAKER_09]: Very good question.

[SPEAKER_02]: You're a witch though, right?

[SPEAKER_02]: You gotta have some kind of potion or magic butterfly net or maybe a spell book that ends the end of the end of the whole world.

[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know where would you keep something more rubber spatula?

[SPEAKER_10]: I got them, I got the specialists.

[SPEAKER_10]: Well, I think I have to get in proximity to the shadow first.

[SPEAKER_10]: I'm thinking this is like a Peter Pan situation where I grab its bites, ankles, and then tie them to my ankles.

[SPEAKER_02]: Right, okay.

[SPEAKER_02]: Who's got me even in thread and soap?

[SPEAKER_02]: If I remember that movie correctly?

[SPEAKER_10]: Yes, soap.

[SPEAKER_10]: Or I think there's some gorilla glue in the utility closet.

[SPEAKER_03]: Amelie is going to download a new skill from her library of floppy disks and from her fingers after she does so little needles and thread starts to come out and she says, I am prepared.

[SPEAKER_05]: Good.

[SPEAKER_12]: That is a bingo.

[SPEAKER_03]: So we are looking for black yes and we have a ace of clubs.

[SPEAKER_03]: Our third ace.

[SPEAKER_03]: The shadow comes back to us and everyone does a willpsey about it.

[SPEAKER_06]: Yes, only want you to describe what do we see as the shadow whips back forward.

[SPEAKER_03]: As the shadow whips forward as my fingers have the Edward Scissor hands did up, I kind of short circuit very briefly and start sweeping up the rabbits.

[SPEAKER_03]: Thus sweeping up something that you need to stay put or at least is not designed to be caught up in my kind of little dust pan and then kind of come back to myself.

[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, oh, oh, oh dear, oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.

[SPEAKER_06]: As this rabbit, cleaning cycle is being to go through, you see, sal in the background, just again, fainting confidence as the shadow flies by, is just like a drummer attacking the walls in this like, it's a caught over them.

[SPEAKER_07]: I-I got this.

[SPEAKER_07]: I-I think I got this.

[SPEAKER_14]: Parish is gonna uh again lose track of reality and take one of his uh wooden spoons and like dip it into Percy's magma and catch it on fire and think.

[SPEAKER_14]: Go back to hell where you get from and launch a fiery wooden special at the shadow and catch something in the hallway on fire.

[SPEAKER_04]: Oh dear.

[SPEAKER_15]: As this, the shadow dodges out of the way of this fireball and goes right into rag and bones who gets totally flattened and for a minute is just, there's just this inky pool of shadow covering the skeleton and you're not sure you can't even see me anymore and then it moves away and like crashes into something else and my wipsy is, uh, [SPEAKER_15]: be temporarily defeated.

[SPEAKER_15]: So I'm just like that on the floor just.

[SPEAKER_02]: Oh god.

[SPEAKER_02]: Oh god.

[SPEAKER_02]: Oh god.

[SPEAKER_02]: It was it was dark.

[SPEAKER_02]: It was horrible.

[SPEAKER_02]: Oh god.

[SPEAKER_06]: And you say about what's your website?

[SPEAKER_10]: Uh, uh, my, whoopsie is, uh, there's a puddle on the floor from, like, spill water, and I fully, do a cartoon, go fly up into the air, and then, uh, land on my back.

[SPEAKER_09]: And I swallow my cigarette hole, and then I burp a cloud of smoke.

[SPEAKER_15]: I'm picturing you falling like Dragon bones is on the floor and you fall like Heads and toes you with them And just burp up a cloud of smoke Perfect Anyone who speaks of this again You're out of the bad breakfast [SPEAKER_10]: Hey, Mr.

Mussel's, looking at ragging pose.

[SPEAKER_10]: Uh, you know, there's, um, tombs that you didn't steal from me, um, that you were carrying earlier.

[SPEAKER_10]: Uh, do you have them?

[SPEAKER_10]: Because I kind of want to see if there's a summoning spell within them.

[SPEAKER_02]: Ah, they're probably, is there summoning spell in them?

[SPEAKER_02]: And I wasn't stealing them.

[SPEAKER_02]: I was putting them back because, um, I, someone else stole them.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think probably, Omelette did.

[SPEAKER_02]: They're tricky.

[SPEAKER_02]: They're tricky.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I think they stole them, but I don't even know what's in them, but there's probably a summoning spell on page 97.

[SPEAKER_02]: I have this one.

[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.

[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, that would just be your, you know, your estimation.

[SPEAKER_10]: That would be interesting.

[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, yeah, you're educated, yes.

[SPEAKER_02]: Right?

[SPEAKER_02]: Trust me.

[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, I'm trusting where the summoning spell was.

[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_10]: All right.

[SPEAKER_10]: I scroll through and uh and read and we'll see if I can find a summoning spell within the [SPEAKER_15]: Are we just so I have a sense, are we still in like the Fourier, like, entryway of this?

[SPEAKER_06]: I think we're under there somewhere in the following way.

[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, we followed at least a little bit.

[SPEAKER_05]: There was smashing, smashing must be clean.

[SPEAKER_05]: We have followed the smashing as best we can.

[SPEAKER_06]: Sal is looking around and begins to like move forward slowly towards the way the shadow went, which is, of course, the most, it seems to be [SPEAKER_06]: It seems to be incredibly aware of where the most destruction can be raw, because after it hit this China cabinet, it is moving directly onto the room that Yzeba has reserved entirely for tinctures and potions and various vials of many sorts, and you can hear a smashing on a door as this shadow seems to be trying to get into this otherwise, like her medically sealed part of the bed and breakfast that the guests are [SPEAKER_10]: Oh, got not the tincture room.

[SPEAKER_10]: Brick a fire.

[SPEAKER_14]: You hear a little in the background like And perishes like my 11 bars and he like very quickly runs down grabs a plate of lemon bars And I'm gonna do a bingo of lift everyone's spirits with the perfect refreshments and he's like all right now before we go into this Into the Tincture room this heated combat everybody grab a lemon bar lemon bar lemon bar I'm the bar new recipe lemon bar great very nice.

[SPEAKER_07]: Very [SPEAKER_15]: I'll take a lemon bar and put it in my skeleton mouth and just and kind of chop it into crumbly bits that fall all around the little rats living in my ribcage and the rat like not those little little the little pits.

[SPEAKER_06]: Especially because like every time I think of lemon bars, I always think of them as being like dusted with padded sugar.

[SPEAKER_06]: So I'm just seeing this rat like dancing in this snow of lemon bar.

[SPEAKER_14]: Spinning around the spine.

[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah, like Paul dancing like around his mice behind.

[SPEAKER_15]: I love that.

[SPEAKER_15]: Yes.

[SPEAKER_02]: I fixed little lights on the inside of my rib cage so he can get those jails on them.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's all kinds of colors.

[SPEAKER_02]: But pretty good show.

[SPEAKER_03]: a front panel on Amalee's face kind of lifts entirely up to reveal a little cubby hole where the lemon bar sits and it's closed again.

[SPEAKER_03]: There's a little bit of a kind of warm lemon fresh, almost easy bake oven kind of smell happening and she says, thank you.

[SPEAKER_12]: Of course.

[SPEAKER_12]: I don't stand for that sort of thing.

[SPEAKER_12]: And you didn't steal those books, I know.

[SPEAKER_12]: I know.

[SPEAKER_02]: Why are you gonna do about it, Frog?

[SPEAKER_12]: Listen here, you bag of bones.

[SPEAKER_05]: Ah, now now.

[SPEAKER_12]: Now we're gonna go into that tincture room.

[SPEAKER_12]: Lemon bars and bellies.

[SPEAKER_12]: And we're gonna face this thing once and for all.

[SPEAKER_12]: You gonna help?

[SPEAKER_12]: Back, no.

[SPEAKER_12]: Not probably not.

[SPEAKER_12]: Well, what's a pleasure, pleasure to have you.

[SPEAKER_12]: on board anyway.

[SPEAKER_03]: omelette is kind of gotten a vacuum attachment out for the powdered sugar underneath bag of bones.

[SPEAKER_15]: I'm going to give a little kick to the frog, but I think maybe you parish would kind of hop out of the way because I'm, I really, as sneaky as I want to be, I clatter with every step.

[SPEAKER_06]: I just like move really telegraphing your punches and stuff.

[SPEAKER_06]: It's a big wind up with one of these types of swing into why I ought to.

[SPEAKER_06]: Uh, Elliot, you can flip cards and see what you're omin' it.

[SPEAKER_14]: Uh, oh, that's an ace.

[SPEAKER_03]: Was that a third ace?

[SPEAKER_03]: That is our third ace.

[SPEAKER_14]: This is our third.

[SPEAKER_06]: So if we pull three ace or do we have to get rid of three aces?

[SPEAKER_06]: It's so once we have three aces, we can get rid of them together.

[SPEAKER_06]: Uh, to capture the show.

[SPEAKER_14]: But you guys already have two aces at hand.

[SPEAKER_03]: We do.

[SPEAKER_03]: I do.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_14]: You have one and Brian, you have one?

[SPEAKER_14]: I think Emily is both.

[SPEAKER_03]: I have both of the other rooms.

[SPEAKER_14]: Oh, okay.

[SPEAKER_14]: Prey.

[SPEAKER_14]: So that then we enter into the Tincture room, whisk out, lemon bars and bellies, now everybody surround it.

[SPEAKER_06]: Um, we all charge into the Tincture room.

[SPEAKER_06]: And as we charge into the Tincture room, we have three aces if we all choose to collectively toss the messide, we can end the chapter.

[SPEAKER_06]: So as we do, you say, but you get to dictate how the chapter ends and what you do with your shadow.

[SPEAKER_10]: All right, I have good news in bad news.

[SPEAKER_10]: The good news is that [SPEAKER_10]: The summoning spell seems reasonably simple.

[SPEAKER_10]: The bad news is that the summoning spell is that I have to say something I have to give a complement to everyone in my surroundings.

[SPEAKER_10]: And while this may seem simple for a simple minded person, I'm finding it extremely difficult to do so.

[SPEAKER_10]: line up.

[SPEAKER_10]: I need to summon my shadow and have it medically sewn to my heels.

[SPEAKER_06]: You see one of the rabbits, you hear like the the rabbits start buzzing with conversation and then one of them runs off and you hear a bunch of other people start running down the hallway all having heard like the message has been related throughout the bed and breakfast that you save as doling out compliments and everyone is coming to live come.

[SPEAKER_10]: No, no, no, shut the door, shut the door.

[SPEAKER_06]: Uh, okay, and like as this whole host of people starts coming in, he's just slowly shutting the door.

[SPEAKER_07]: Sorry, everybody.

[SPEAKER_03]: Omelette cannot disobey a command from Yaziba.

[SPEAKER_03]: They are going to shove the door cleaners.

[SPEAKER_06]: And we just hear Bang on the other side of the door from all the various guests and residents of the van breakfast.

[SPEAKER_07]: Yaziba, Yaziba, Yaziba, let us in!

[SPEAKER_10]: Yezabah looks around the room and sees, um, and brows through the intact, like potions, amidst a shelf.

[SPEAKER_10]: Plot one on forks and, and a stringent type of smell fills the room and she says, this will do, and, uh, drowns it in one shot, takes it like a shot.

[SPEAKER_10]: All right, who wants a compliment first?

[SPEAKER_07]: Uh, I do.

[SPEAKER_07]: I would, I would, I would like compliment.

[SPEAKER_06]: You see, I'll just kind of like posing, like, kind of curses and kind of like vows and it's kind of like showing you profile, giving you like finger guns, just like giving you a bunch of different poses that you could choose from.

[SPEAKER_10]: I find your juvenile search for identity, irritating and borderline pathological, but it demands a certain element of creativity and that is to be admired.

[SPEAKER_06]: the body language on sale is like a full-on sign way of like with every word it's like all the way up all the way down all the way up all the way down uh...

you see a sound kind of like tick through the full list of the compliment and like realize it's a net positive at big smile appears on sales phase and he just kind of shys back because well uh thanks thanks you zebra and it's just kind of holding uh his two spatulas in this kind of like nice kind of like coy batting position [SPEAKER_14]: What's the shadow doing while this is happening?

[SPEAKER_14]: If I may, I kind of imagine that it is also rolling its eyes that these compliments like it has the same kind of attitude you do, and it's just kind of like in the background.

[SPEAKER_06]: Getting ready.

[SPEAKER_06]: You see there's a pile of shadow on it on the ground.

[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, but I also think you've noticed it's slow to a stop because we get the slightest idea that the spell is working.

[SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm.

[SPEAKER_10]: All right, who's next?

[SPEAKER_10]: Don't everyone, don't want it.

[SPEAKER_12]: Well, I guess.

[SPEAKER_10]: Hey, listen, lemon bars, outstanding today.

[SPEAKER_10]: I'll say it.

[SPEAKER_10]: Thank you.

[SPEAKER_10]: OK.

[SPEAKER_06]: She's totally right.

[SPEAKER_06]: I think you nailed the recipe, like the powdered sugar topping with the crunchy sugar.

[SPEAKER_06]: I love the crunchy sugar.

[SPEAKER_10]: Little, little brulee.

[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_15]: the shadow goes stiff.

[SPEAKER_15]: Rado gives you a little thumbs up.

[SPEAKER_15]: White little potter sugar off.

[SPEAKER_15]: It's no.

[SPEAKER_14]: Parish hates rag and bones.

[SPEAKER_14]: Love is Rado.

[SPEAKER_10]: Who's next?

[SPEAKER_06]: You see one of the little rabbits race at the time.

[SPEAKER_10]: It's completely inefficient.

[SPEAKER_10]: But you are way of traveling.

[SPEAKER_10]: One stacked on top of the other.

[SPEAKER_10]: Takes a lot of core strength.

[SPEAKER_06]: You see, a bunch of the rats lift up, they're like shirts, and they're just all chiseled.

[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, just full on full 8 to 12 packs, just rocking.

[SPEAKER_15]: Oh my god, I'm dying.

[SPEAKER_06]: And you just see all of them kind of like jerk back to each of them, and then each of them, as well as the overall Mac that they're controlling, all does a big thumbs up.

[SPEAKER_10]: Ragon bonds.

[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I guess I'll take a copy of it, I'll give it them out.

[SPEAKER_10]: While all of your other, and I cannot stress this enough, all of your other personality traits consistently undermine an overshadow it.

[SPEAKER_10]: Thank you.

[SPEAKER_10]: Your intelligence is far and above most of the borders in the house.

[SPEAKER_01]: Huh.

[SPEAKER_10]: Merically, you probably have the highest IQ.

[SPEAKER_15]: My head falls off.

[SPEAKER_15]: I catch it.

[SPEAKER_15]: I fully catch it in my hands and then just [SPEAKER_06]: I really like to think as you like fumble your head, it briefly rolls on the ground and the shadow, even though it's frozen, like, gives it a little kick.

[SPEAKER_15]: Just like kick the back, yeah.

[SPEAKER_15]: I just, you can see, it's not in any way possible, but you see just the faintest blush come into my skeletal cheeks as I'm holding my head in my hand.

[SPEAKER_15]: And then I just turn the head really quick and like hide it in my sternum, so you can't see the face of it, and then it fix it to my head.

[SPEAKER_15]: My spine again, once the blush is faded.

[SPEAKER_10]: The shadow has now scaled down to Yaziba's size and it's flat on the ground.

[SPEAKER_10]: Still stiff.

[SPEAKER_03]: Omelay.

[SPEAKER_03]: I'm at Yaziba's feet kind of getting ready to machine so [SPEAKER_10]: Yes.

[SPEAKER_10]: Enough with the floppy disks.

[SPEAKER_10]: We're all on the cloud.

[SPEAKER_10]: It's just easier at this point.

[SPEAKER_10]: You're carrying them around loose in your arms.

[SPEAKER_10]: It's like it's embarrassing.

[SPEAKER_10]: But they hold a lot of information and you always know the right one to use.

[SPEAKER_10]: Particularly right now when I need you to medically so.

[SPEAKER_10]: My shadow to my heels.

[SPEAKER_03]: Amelie is going to bingo and process a feeling not in their index and a strange tindling of pride and more lemon bar smell comes out.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, that's what happens.

[SPEAKER_03]: And again, a metal face that should not flush does glow on candy.

[SPEAKER_10]: And then I start, he as he was britting her teeth, determined to not show any, determined to display high pain tolerance as her shadow is medically sewn on to her heels again.

[SPEAKER_06]: I think Sal's gonna come up to you Sabah and kind of go to the side that like I feel like most people are kind of like semi-circle on one side I'm gonna kind of come around to the other side and it's gonna do Kind of a take on one of Sal's bingo's to support someone and it's just gonna go by and just kind of squeeze He's able to hand just a little bit just kind of giving a little bit of support That was really nice if you use a but I [SPEAKER_08]: I know that that spell doesn't require those verbal components.

[SPEAKER_10]: You see, this squeezes South Hands until we hear something crack.

[SPEAKER_10]: See, South Go.

[SPEAKER_07]: I won't tell anyone.

[SPEAKER_07]: I won't tell anyone.

[SPEAKER_07]: I didn't.

[SPEAKER_07]: I didn't.

[SPEAKER_07]: I forget.

[SPEAKER_07]: Well, will I call you about?

[SPEAKER_07]: Ah!

[SPEAKER_07]: That's my, that's my picking hand.

[SPEAKER_10]: Come on, give me a lemon bar.

[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, lemon bar, coming right up.

[SPEAKER_03]: My face opens up and the lemon bar intact is available.

[SPEAKER_10]: It's even grabs the lemon bar and shrubs it into your face in one bite to muzzle herself.

[SPEAKER_06]: of an of an fresh face of an fresh and as you say about has her shadow resumed to her heels through a strange new process that Omelay has found somewhere deep in their coding with these many floppy disks.

[SPEAKER_06]: The shadow reattaches and it's now back under you say it was control is there but once you tell us one thing that your shadow does now that it's back under your control as we begin to pull out from this chapter.

[SPEAKER_10]: It reaches up and holds sales hand.

[SPEAKER_06]: He's able shot of reaches up and holds sales hand, sell, holding on to one hand of you say of a shadow and one hand of you say of a, only one of those two in any way comfortable.

[SPEAKER_06]: We begin to pull outside past the door, past the many rabbits that are standing all, as we should be reminded, completely jacked, all the rabbits in the garden and jacked.

[SPEAKER_06]: They're doing burpees.

[SPEAKER_03]: They're doing burpees.

[SPEAKER_06]: They're all doing burpees.

[SPEAKER_06]: The Mac of all of them are doing burpees.

[SPEAKER_06]: And also inside each individual component.

[SPEAKER_06]: They're also doing burpees at the same time.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's amazing.

[SPEAKER_01]: Burpees all the way down.

[SPEAKER_01]: Burpees all the way down.

[SPEAKER_01]: Burpees all the way down.

[SPEAKER_06]: that was good.

[SPEAKER_06]: And we pull past the door where a bunch of the other residents and guests have their ears pressed to this very thick wooden door trying to hear if it's true that you're able to be giving out compliments and it is very likely that they will never quite know the truth of what happened in the Tinkshire Room that day.

[SPEAKER_06]: as we pull further out from the bed and breakfast to see the bits of carnage left over and out to the bed and breakfast as the sun is setting on yet another September 15th.

[SPEAKER_06]: And that's the end of chapter 7, The Witches Missing Shadow.

[SPEAKER_06]: I am Brian Flirty and I have been Sal.

[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm Am Friedman and I have been only.

[SPEAKER_14]: I'm Ellie Davis, and I have been bearish.

[SPEAKER_10]: I'm Carolyn Page, and I have been ragging bones.

[SPEAKER_02]: I have rats.

[SPEAKER_10]: Redo.

[SPEAKER_10]: I'm Michelle Chambenen, and I've been Yezeba.

[SPEAKER_06]: The theme song for Yezeba's bed in breakfast was written and performed by Matt Takara.

[SPEAKER_06]: This episode features the song Yezeba Shadow by B.

Hold.

[SPEAKER_06]: Thanks for joining us.

[SPEAKER_06]: Bye-bye!

[SPEAKER_09]: I'm gonna say...
