That's kind of.

Speaker 2

But it felt like somebody was like forcefully closing my eyes and like holding their fingers on my eyes.

Speaker 3

Speaker 4

Hey, this is Sabrina Woo and I'm calling in from New York and I'm here to tell you a ghost story.

Staying in my ex's apartment in New York, I will say there are certain things that have made me feel like the space is haunted.

For example, in my ex's roommate's apartment I've done some work in when they were gone, I would hear footsteps on the ceiling constantly, but we were on the highest level floor, so there's no one on the roof.

And then sometimes we would hear children crying, like babies crying, and it was always coming from the ceiling, and so you know, like there's a world where again we did live above an Airbnb, and so we'd always just tell ourselves it's probably just someone downstairs, but it really did sound like it was not coming from below and directly above.

And this was something that like my friend who lived in that room would constantly talk about that the space was haunted.

There was just one night where I was watching that show Yellowjackets, and then I did a deep dive into the demon and Yellow Jackets, and I did deep dive so long and saw so many creepy images that at some point, like while I was reading, I just got hit with this like wave of like intense intense fear that there were ghosts present in the house that I was in.

I tried to go to the bathroom, and then right as I passed the light, the light just like flicker, like it just like not even like a normal like flicker, just like got really bright like it just went like while I was walking by, and I was like, Okay, never mind, I'm not gonna go pee, and then I went back inside.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I think they were playing pranks on me.

I think they knew that I was like getting scared, and then they were like, oh, let's turn up the heat.

It did scare me so bad that I genuinely didn't sleep for the rest of the entire night.

I just haven't felt that scared in a really long time.

Speaker 3

Thank you, Sabrina.

A hunted New New York apartment is practically its own genre of ghost story, but yours comes with a twist.

Footsteps overhead when you're already on the top floor, children crying when there's no children above you.

In an urban legend, sometimes this would be called a residual haunting, moments of energy from the past that replay themselves like a broken record.

Then again, the light flickering just as you walk past, like the house itself was watching you and maybe getting a kick out of how scared you were, adds a little more of a trickster element in the haunting sense.

You are not alone in that apartment.

Speaker 1

Hey, Michelle, this is Brett.

A story that was on the show last week.

Reminded me of something that happened that pretty win.

I look next to a school and I know you hear everything.

You hear your screaming but laughing, the kids, flying equipment, banging, everybody's running around having a good time.

Speaker 5

You hear the bells, and.

Speaker 1

It's a playfield, so there's like kids sports, there's like constant noise when school is in sessions.

Speaker 5

So I'm just kind of used to it at this point.

The thing that I.

Speaker 1

Realized recently is that when I take my dog out to pee at eleven or twelve at night, I still hear all those noises, like the kids are playing over the playground and they're no lights over there.

It's basically after dark, there's no one around.

And I am so used to hearing that noise that I didn't even think about it for years.

Speaker 5

And yeah, of course, it's like it's a playfield.

Speaker 1

So like the teenagers over their playing, they're you know, they're drinking, partying whatever there.

One time someone blew up a porta potty over there.

I mean, the ghetto people are over there, but they're they're not like children children, And I have children laughing and screaming and playing at eleven and twelve at night and the dog and I don't know if this matters, but the dog hears it too.

Thanks Michelle.

Speaker 5

I love the show, Brett.

Speaker 3

Thank you well.

You described gives me chills.

Playgrounds are meant to be a place of joy, sunshine, running laughter, sharing children's voices echoing across an empty field at midnight.

Oh thank you.

The psychologists would call it an auditory hallucination, but when you hear it night after night and your dog reacts to it too, dogs.

Speaker 6

No, Hi, my name is Jessica.

I'm in Pennsylvania and my story starts a year ago.

I'm a medical courier.

I get to my one nursing home to deliver meds and the nurse comes out.

We're sitting there signing papers and orier that they have there inside the building, and suddenly in the door slams shut.

One of the glass doors opens it selfish slams shut.

We look out and we both seen.

Speaker 3

This bright white light.

Speaker 5

It looked like the headlights of a truck, but it was going.

Speaker 6

So fast, and we knew it was not a truck because we would have heard it, and it was just facing the wrong way for the headlights to be because it was really a truck or another vehicle, it would have slammed into the und pillars in front of the entrance.

And it was about like five seconds that we saw it, and then it suddenly disappeared.

We both looked at each other, and asked, do we really just see what we think we did?

I'm like yeah, and he's like, well, I thought it was a truck.

I was for sure bracing myself to hear the clamming of brakes and it hitting your car, Like yeah, But we both go out and look and see nothing there.

So I just capt to continue with my delivery and song in the paperwork, doing what we need to do.

And then before I get to leave, I asked him, how does anything where it happened like this down here for He's like, yeah, there's an old school that used to be here.

I guess it's just for multiple things, but it's now just storage place.

Speaker 5

But it's an old building.

Speaker 6

And if he said the lights turn off and on on our own all the time, that's my story.

Speaker 3

Thank you for listening, Thank you for calling in a white light where no headlights should be, doors opening and slamming on their own, all beside an old school where lights flicker on and off.

This groundholds stories, and not all of them are finished.

Speaker 7

Hello, Michelle, this is Linda.

I've worked in restaurants.

I'm seventy three now, but I've worked in restaurants forever.

Honey, I've seen some stuff, especially after midnight restaurants get real weird.

One of the first things I've seen I was working at a roadhouse outside of Kansas City.

It had been an old hotel and it had the original bar in it, which was like this old mahogany And one day I was closing down and I was putting some glasses away, and above the bar there was a big mirror, and I was putting the glasses away with my back towards the bar, and I looked up at the mirror and there was a man sitting there in a basically it was a baseball cap.

And I turned around and no one was there.

But then I turned back and he was still in the mirror, and he just smiled at me.

Same place a couple months later, this waitress named Karen was stacking some chairs and then all of a sudden, one went flying across the floor like someone had given it a hard push.

We both heard the scrape, no wind, no prank, just a chair moving on its own across bare floor.

Speaker 5

The scariest though, happened.

Speaker 7

At eighty one back at a little diner i'd started managing.

It was just me and the cook closing up.

I'm down the till and I see movement in the court of booth.

I look over and there's a woman sitting there in a red dress, and I walk over to tell her we're closed.

Has I made it halfway across the floor.

She just faded out one second, she's there.

Next the booth is empty.

Speaker 3

Linda, thank you for this.

Restaurants after midnight are some of the most haunted places I've ever heard about.

A man smiling at you from a mirror, a chair pushed across a floor when no one was near it, and a woman in red I would love to hear more from restaurant workers, waiters, bartenders, bus boys.

What are some of the spookiest things you've seen after closing?

Speaker 2

Hi, Michelle, this is Kyelle from Los Angeles.

I used to live in Louisiana for about seven years, and you know there's a lot of lore around Louisiana.

I remember I was in college, I was living by myself.

This is the first time that I was ever living by myself.

And when I was in my apartment, a few times this happened.

Like there were times when I was trying to fall asleep and right when it was the moment, like right before you kind of fall into a deep sleep, you're kind of still lucid.

Speaker 5

You're aware that.

Speaker 2

You're falling asleep, but you see, yeah, you still have that like awareness, but you're not quite sleep yet.

And the first time it happened, I had fallen asleep on my couch and I had a dog at the time, and I was like, I like slipped into that lucid state, and all of a sudden, my eyes were forced to shut.

It felt like somebody liked It wasn't painful, but it felt like somebody was like forcefully closing my eyes and like holding their fingers on my eyes, and a smile was forced on my face.

Speaker 5

Same thing.

Speaker 2

It just felt like somebody was like taking their fingers and forcing a smile on my face.

Speaker 5

My whole body went.

Speaker 2

Cold and stiff, and I was paralyzed, completely paralyzed.

I could not move, and my soul or spirit or whatever that part of ourselves is that occupying our human body shot out of my body very quickly.

I heard a loud like buzzing.

It kind of sounded like a train sound.

And then shortly after my soul shot out of my body and I could see my body.

I was like on the reof of my apartment.

I was looking down, I could see my dog, I could see myself, and I was just like, this is really weird.

Speaker 5

And honestly, I thought I was dying.

Speaker 2

I was like, what the hell is going on?

Because I knew that it wasn't a dream.

I was still very much awake.

I was just in a lucid state, and so I was like, damn, this is really weird.

And I was really really fighting it.

I was really trying hard to get back in my body, and I saw I actually saw like this tether.

It looked like an umbilical cord to like my belly button to my physical body, and I was connected to it.

But I just could not get back in my body as hard as I tried.

So I was kind of just floating up there for a while and then I fell asleep, and then when I woke up, I was back, and it was so strange, and I was just like, Okay, where do I even start with this?

Like how do I call my friends and family and tell them, like, hey, my soul just left my body and a smile was forced on my face and my eyes were forced shut.

Who do I talk to about this, because anyone that I tell is probably going to be like, you're bashit crazy.

But so I didn't really feel safe enough to say anything just yet, and I was just like, oh, maybe it was just a one off experience whatever.

For the next like maybe two or three months, much every single night it continued to happen.

Speaker 5

Same thing.

Speaker 2

Body went cold, I force shut, smile forced on my face, body completely paralyzed, and I would leave my body nightly, Okay, And so sometimes it would be a situation where I would just kind of be on like floating on the roofs of my of my apartment like I was before.

Speaker 5

But sometimes I.

Speaker 2

Would have these experiences where I was literally traveling all over the world, all over the universe.

I was floating and flying through the sky, through the stars.

I felt like you know when people explain near death experiences and they say like, oh, yeah, like I left my body and I felt the most peaceful experience I've ever felt in my life, Like I had no burdens and no worries, and you just feel like a lightness that you can't really describe.

That's exactly what I felt.

And so I was flying through the stars nightly.

I was going to like Australia, Like I don't know why I was going to these places or like what was why I was.

It felt like I was like subconsciously deciding to go to these places or something, or like a higher version of myself was deciding, like you need to see this, you know.

Speaker 3

But I was going all over the globe.

Speaker 2

There were many times where I was just like floating amongst the stars and like looking down at the Earth from that vantage point.

And I have to say though, for the most part, I did not feel Once I got a grasp on the.

Speaker 6

Fact that I.

Speaker 2

Wasn't dying and that I still have the tether to my body, it didn't feel as scary.

The scary part was more like I don't have agency over my body.

So if I wanted to like snap out of this for any reason, I couldn't.

I will say though, the creepiest time that it happened, and I still think about this, I mean, it kind of still haunts me, But it wasn't like it wasn't like terrible.

It just haunts me, like in a curiosity way, and it felt kind of dark.

One time, you know, on my nightly escacades, I shot out of my body and instantly I'm on the moon.

And so I'm like walking on the moon very slowly, and all of a sudden, I'm like walking.

I realized that I'm on the light side of the moon, and I'm walking toward the dark side of the moon, and I have one like as I'm approaching the dark side of the moon, i have one foot on the light side, And as I stepped one foot on the dark side, and as I'm about to step the other foot on the dark side, my soul just got snatched back into my body.

And I had never felt that experience, Like most of the experiences felt pretty gentle.

It was like, Okay, I'm floating amongst the stars whatever.

Maybe I just eventually fall asleep and then wake up and then I'm back in my body, or like I have a gentle comeback, right, But this time it felt like a really weird entity.

Was like, you cannot see whatever the hell is going on on this moon, That's what it felt like.

And I was just like, it just felt like, you're not supposed to see this, what are you doing here?

That was the energy that I got.

Like I didn't see anyone, I didn't hear anything, but I definitely felt that overwhelming feeling like this is not for you, and I was just like, what the hell they doing on that dark side of the moon.

And so from this point, from that point forward, I just thought, I've been thinking to myself, like what is going on?

And back then, I mean, this was before obviously the Internet existed, and like Twitter existed.

I think Instagram maybe came just came out, but like or like was pretty new, but the Internet it wasn't as accessible in the sense where I felt like I could just like go on Reddit and be like, what is it meaning moving your soul keeps leaving your body and you're walking on the dark side of the moon, you can like find a viable answer.

But I do remember that, like for years after that, I was kind of trying to understand it, and I realized through like reading books and just researching, that what I was doing was actually astro traveling.

And I had no idea what it was called back then, and I really didn't even talk about it that much with people because I just thought that they wouldn't understand.

But I'm so curious to know if other people.

I know that other people experience it, but most of the time.

I know that through like what I've read or what I've researched, I have only talked to people who have had sleep paralysis, but that doesn't wasn't accompanied by astral traveling.

Speaker 1

With me.

Speaker 2

I've never just had sleep paralysis by itself.

It's always accompanied with astral traveling.

And so I would be interested to know if anyone else has had those kinds of experiences, and also if anyone else has been to the Dark side of the Moon, because I really want to know what the hell is going on on that moon.

I feel like it's something.

I feel like it's something I don't know.

Speaker 5

I feel like it's something.

Speaker 2

More than what we know, and I know that there's a ton of like theories about what's going on, but I felt I felt it.

I felt something like I've never felt before when I was up there, and I was like.

Speaker 3

Something's going on.

Speaker 2

I'm a little too scared to know, but like, I've got to find this out.

So if anyone knows, Collin myostost story.

Speaker 5

Podcast and please shed some light on this for me.
