The web is supposed to be a place where people can make stuff and share it.

But the dark flip side is that online art starts being shared for free, scrubbed of credits for pornography, an art form that always struggled to be categorized as legitimate entertainment because of its status as underground and illicit.

Online streaming will prove absolutely devastating in this next media format shift.

As always, porn leads the way.

While the Internet opens up avenues for self made porn entrepreneurs like Danny Ash, it also allows for adult content to be easily bootlegged and shared for free what are called tube sites.

Will decimate the San Fernando Valley's porn studio system and the porn industry as a whole.

The Internet opens pornography consumption up to its largest audience, yet, pulling in even those who would never be brave enough to buy a VHS or DVD.

Streaming porn illegally and watching it privately, not on a television but a computer screen adds a yet another level of horny secrecy to the act of masturbation, and because most people are so reluctant to admit they even consume pornography at all, the moment that porn becomes easy to pirate online, DVD sales start dropping dramatically, and the entire adult film industry begins to collapse.

In two thousand and five, a porn studio called Digital Playground releases a movie called Pirates, advertised as the biggest budget pornographic film of all time.

Pirates is a swashbuckling sex comedy riffing off of Pirates of the Caribbean The Curse of the Black Pearl, Disney's two thousand and three blockbuster film based on a theme park ride, Digital Playgrounds Pirates has a total production budget of over a million dollars.

It's shot on high definition digital video mastered in Dolby Surround sound, and features over three hundred CGI effect shots.

These faring scenes are shot on a ship that's a replica of the original HMS bounty called the Bounty, built for MGM's nineteen sixty two film Mutiny on the Bounty.

While the Bounty was built for filming, it's also a fully functional sailing ship that sailed from Nova Scotia to Tahiti.

The Bounty was scheduled to be burned after Mutiny on the Bounty finished filming, but that film star Marlon Brando insisted that it be preserved.

The Bounty was then turned into a tourist attraction and docked in Saint Petersburg, Florida, where Digital Playground director Ali June rents it to film the non sex scenes for Pirates.

He tells the Bounty's owners that he and his film crew are just making a regular Pirate movie, never disclosing that it's a pornographic one.

Copies of Pirates are sent out to college campuses with info on how to organize a screening for students.

Dp's publicity blitz centers on their use of cutting edge digital video technology.

The stars of Pirates, Jesse Jane and legendary woodman Evan Stone, say the movie is a rollicking adventure comedy film that just happens to have a little bit of hardcore acc in it.

Take the sex out of this movie, and it's Walt Disney.

There are reports of parents accidentally renting Pirates for their children at video stores, assuming it's a family movie about Pirates from the cover art, which is why it's sometimes also known as Pirates triple X.

People in general will always try to blame someone or something else for their own faults and adequacies and or weaknesses.

This is when the real people, the ones with integrity and honesty, step out from the pack.

I recently read a blog from someone blaming their physical appearance on circumstances and situations, all of which are completely self perpetuated on a victim or stress and circumstances.

At some point, you just have to be honest with yourself, as much as it might hurt to say I need help my life in what I'm doing is wrong, at which point you need to become proactive in the rectification of the situation.

The saddest point of all of this is that most people have to hit rock bottom before they can realize this simple truth.

This is heartbreaking to everybody that loves and supports that person.

I always ask myself, why does it have to get to this for the people that love and try to help.

Well, we have an inherent flaw that in most of us we want to help.

We always want to come to the rescue, and the person in need has no control, abuses and consumes, consumes like a psychic vampire.

In March, Viacom files a billion dollar lawsuit against YouTube over copyright infringements.

That December in a California district court, Vivid goes forward with the first porn company lawsuit against a tube site, Vivid Entertainment Group Versus Pornotube and their parent company, Data Conversions, Inc.

Out of North Carolina.

Vivid's lawyers have documented instances of porno Tube illegally posting thirty plus Vivid classics like Night Nurses and Where the Boys Aren't Seven.

Vivid seeks one hundred and fifty thousand dollars in damages per pirated clip four point five million in total.

Hirsch wants all of the Vivid content struck permanently.

He does not want to make a deal where Vivid gets offered a split of the ad revenue from porno Tube, which is what viacommon YouTube eventually settle.

On Tube sites also don't comply with US Federal Code two two five seven, which requires anyone making or hosting explicit sexual content to provide records that verify the ages and names of the performers, which is enforced very strongly because of what happened with Tracy Lord's Stephen.

Hirsch also thinks the porn tube sites are going to fuck up the porn studio businesses legality because people might upload content with underage people in it and there's no content moderation structure in place to make sure that doesn't happen.

Vivid spends enormous sums to copyright its content and to comply with the Child Protection and Obscenity enforcement AJAC verification process.

Pornotube and AEBN have been getting away with a practice that unlawfully earns millions of dollars at our expense.

What's happening in the industry is an unacceptable amount of theft.

Vivid's lawsuit also seeks a permanent injunction against data conversions that will force them to comply with copyright laws and requests a letter where they admit they purposely and knowingly infringed on Vivid's copyrights to build out a library of clips that would draw viewers.

Vivid's lawyers say that the damages to the business go beyond the financial.

This action against pornotube is groundbreaking.

AEBN and Pornotube are not exempt from the responsibility to comply with two two five seven rules, and we will demonstrate in court that they are obtaining an unfair business advantage by violating this obligation.

Invoking two two five seven is controversial because it's been declared unconstitutional by a Court of Appeals and porn studios generally hate it because it requires so much extra work and money for them to comply with it.

Confusingly, Vivid's attorney, Paul Cambria is in the Free Speech Coalition who are responsible for the suit against two two five seven that got it declared unconstitutional.

But in this case it's likened to using a sword against the pirates.

Is it an inconsistent position?

I don't believe it is.

What's covered in the lawsuit is not what we're challenging in the FSC case.

I still think two two five seven is unconstitutional, but until the court says that we're stuck with.

It, frankly, this claim is fucking dangerous.

Do we really want to have a situation wherein webmasters are suing each other right no, and left over unfair competition based on alleged violations of two two five seven.

It will cause widespread dispute, tension, and internacy and conflict the likes of which the industry has never seen.

The window for pornstardom is becoming smaller than ever as a constant influx of new performers and access to their content on the Internet prioritizes endless novelty.

Starlets have to make as much as they can performing while setting up other forms of income for later on.

You are not going to get into mainstreams through porn.

It's just not how it works.

And while porn has been based in the valley since the nineteen seventies, its foothold there is slipping.

There's not the same need for the major players to exist in one physical location.

Is it a solid industry?

If some other countries start to specialize in it, it's possible they could leave the area.

It's part of the newest conservative legal strategy against porn.

What about the children?

Since shutting things down through legal loopholes hadn't worked to kill porn, nor had moral invectives about mental decay, the right wing has a new old tactic fearmongering.

They suggest that porn leads to child sex trafficking.

This encourages a true crime, it could happen to you.

Fear for suburban parents that their daughters will be kidnapped out of kmart parking lots if they are not vigilant.

Like the home invasion fearmongering of the Reagan eighties, the trafficking panic posits that pornography poses a real threat to the suburban nuclear family, whiteness and girlhood.

It minimizes actual trafficking, which mainly happens to impoverished women of color, in favor of a fantasy narrative about daughter snatching that plays into macho, vigilante fantasies.

I just finished Janine Loves Jenna this year, and Jenna is amazing.
