My or cut.
Or.
Cut that.
Down.
Writing that down.
Yeah, but that also implies like I, I, I, I hear icicles, I, I need to hear coldness, frostbite.
Well, but the life drains out good blue.
I feel like that would be or secure or sickle is a frozen.
Oh yeah.
Sickle.
Yeah.
Orcsical.
Orcsical.
OK.
Or that's when you do that.
That was it.
The Howling Hymn.
Or what's the one we someone died haunting?
Or the haunting, the one that's the.
Oracle, we need, you know what we do need we need theatre skills for what's about to happen.
That's.
True quick retcon from last week.
I was duly notified after the episode that Fugo today cannot speak, has no mouth.
The horrors can't keep having this isn't that is it so like aerial on land can't speak or just straight out it's it's Fugo didn't get a mouth.
He didn't get a mouth today.
He.
He has hands.
He.
Has hands well.
The eats are in our feet is.
Fine, let's, let's be honest, lift the curtain a little bit in order to allow Fugo to have hands and to, I think, be backstage with Lowen.
I'm guessing Nico opted to give him to give them the independent trait.
That's right, rather than the speech.
Yeah, so as a familiar, they've only got a certain amount of abilities and they can't have all the abilities, which seems fair, I guess.
So they don't have speech.
Several lonely.
Hi, Zo.
How's your earnest?
They don't have speech, they've got independence, they've got item delivery and manual dexterity, so they're going to be able to do quite a lot of things on their own.
Except scream.
Except Scream.
Yeah, they've also got cantrip connection which helps me as their master.
I get an extra cantrip.
And the bonus ability that Fugo always gets is fungus.
Humongous fungus.
To be super frank, this was not necessary.
The independent really is.
Go comes into play when we're in initiative, when we're in an encounter, when it really matters how many actions you're using every six seconds.
But I love the thought behind it and the intention that like, OK, Fugo needs to be able to take care of themselves today.
Let's put a little power in there or, or something, I don't know.
What was Nico's thought process?
Well, it's it's come out a couple of times when we've been role-playing with Fugo and they go, I want to help more.
I want to be able to do things.
And it's just, and they've got their, I've got a respect that they are a creature unto themselves and I'm just helping that they wanted to get smarter.
They want to get stronger with arms and do bits and pieces.
So they went off and did the mission with Somber and Lowen.
And I think if they're not going to be within sight of Nico, then why not make them a little bit more independent?
Obviously they can't speak but.
But because you took the time and thought about this and opted and made the min maxi choice to to take away Fugo's speech to make them more independent, I'm gonna give Nico a Twilight talk.
Oh, thank you.
Well, I also want to give Fugo.
A twilight talk.
Oh, bless you.
That only Fugo can use.
That's cool.
It's.
Adorable.
Thank you.
Speaking of being at a loss for words, we come to day one.
Big words appear on like the screen of rehearsals, and we see the collective cast on the stage below, Sambra and Zekun off to one side with Marble, the assistant director.
And then to the right of them, we see Monsieur Robai Nono, this very short, chubby man with a big walrus mustache and a bad toupee, sort of bringing hands together, this huge pale human woman, Cal Seneca and Flint's scaly bronze hands into Nico's orcish hands.
And they're sort of standing there like, OK, yeah, we're this polycool.
We're playing this polycool now.
But then Lone Bolt walking onto the stage from from in the back is Vicky, Nico's real life boyfriend.
And he just drops a pile of wood onto the the stage in.
Surprise, how dramatic.
No.
Soap opera organ.
Betty, what's wrong?
He's did he slip?
What?
You just what's happened?
You just dropped all your wood and I'll go running over.
Are you OK?
Yeah, I'm fine.
Sorry.
I just didn't expect.
I mean, I knew.
I mean, wow, how cool to see you here.
What a surprise.
Yeah, with, with actors and with.
Yes, I had no idea you were going to be here.
Yeah, this is.
Wow, what?
What are you doing here?
I'm working on the set design.
Oh.
It's good.
And I'm picking up.
Obviously this is like not they're not meant to be here.
This is a complete surprise, right?
Yeah.
OK.
Yeah.
Well, me, me and our friends, we're going to, we're going to be in this play where we've been cast.
Congratulations.
And then Monsieur, no, no, no one comes up and says can we get the tech backstage, please get out of here.
We're not ready for you.
Sorry, Sylvia.
My my bad, my bad.
Sambra gently nudges Zach.
1 is that is that the bar?
Was that acting?
I think it was an attempt at it.
I should do better than that.
Zekud looks at at Sombra, thinking back at the auditions.
If you apply yourself, many things are possible.
OK.
OK, Yep, I needed that.
During this, Monsieur, no, no one goes to Marvel and like says something to her and she nods and runs off.
And very quickly after she comes back out with two more humans.
Oh no, pale humans.
One of them is a short woman.
I say pale humans, white people.
White folk.
Bring out the.
White folk bring.
Out the white folk in my Blood Lords campaign we keep running into whites.
Oh, I gotcha.
Oh, like WIGHDO.
And we're like, oh.
God, it's the whites again.
Oh.
The horrors.
When?
I was in a room full of whites.
So bad the owl.
When I say that this the the, the woman of this pair, it's a man and a woman is white, I mean her skin is quite alabaster and her face makeup is pure white.
It's that sort of Marie Antoinette.
I don't know what the time period is called.
Baroque.
Oh no.
There's.
There's there's questioning faces of people I.
Feel like answer in case.
Wow.
In case any history nerds are listening, please.
It's correct because I feel like.
Zooming it's.
Every TTRVD group has at least one person who would know what that time period is called.
Over missing.
No missing pants, it's.
Impossible.
The hand knows it.
The perogue period is a terrible time for art and I hate it so I do not acknowledge it.
So it's.
She's wearing like this golden headdress.
Her hair's all done up.
She is short, but she's she's quite wide and look like has a good strong stature and the the form of a really good opera singer basically.
Hello, hello.
OK, it's totally giving this doubtfire now do.
It hello.
And you're vibearing the test Delore Alumaksa.
Surely you've heard of me.
Has anyone heard of her?
Sambar Naji Zakun again shrugging her shoulders.
Like who is that?
Zakun just looks at Sambar like I don't know.
Anyone trained in society you want to roll?
Yes, but I'm not around.
OK, let me check.
I don't think Niko's trained in society either.
For an urban adventurer, Nah, don't make some interesting choices.
Yeah, we didn't consider that this might be useful.
Anyway, she sort of looks like like no one notices me.
And then sort of shoving his way, like elbowing her a little bit out of the way, is a a naturally pale man who you can tell like has been tanning since the sun's been out the last several weeks.
There's like a slight Ruddy hue to him and his eyebrows, though dark.
His hair is blonde, which also seems now like if if you look at it closely, seems a little fake.
Wearing red silks you all maybe instantly recognize.
Aha.
Facing Umbero Ulvano, Wes Crown's premier tenor and divo.
You're welcome.
For what?
We know this 10.
Yeah, yeah, I remember this guy.
Of course you do, and this extends a hand like for you to to hold.
It's nice to meet you.
We briefly met before.
Were you asking for my autograph?
We.
Were asking you to hurry.
Up with the horses.
Yeah.
Right there was a there was a double booking of horses.
The smile same.
And if you look closely, the flicker of a sneer crosses his visage and but then it quickly comes back into a smile.
Oh yes, yes, I I might remember something about that at the end of last summer.
It was unfortunate, but.
And he turns to Zekrin again.
You were the one who so kindly helped groom them, weren't you?
The Zekrin just like points with a finger over.
To Nico, that was me.
Hello, so nice to meet you.
I am facing umbero.
I I remember.
I remember you facing.
Yeah.
Pleasure to meet you.
I'm Nico.
I'll be playing Larazod, my counterpart.
Well, Nico, we shall see if you have the stuff to stand opposite me on the stage.
I'm good at standing.
I can stand all day.
I prefer standing so much.
But will you be able to stand under the hot spotlight in front of a hundreds of adoring eyes?
Yeah, that.
That'll be fine.
That'll still be fine.
We shall see.
Second, when do we get to throw tomatoes at this guy?
I hope very soon.
Yes, Yes, Monsieur Nonon.
Gather round, my actors.
Gather round.
Yes.
I see you've met.
Of course, these four.
Yeah.
And he sort of gestures at our party will be a plus.
Of course.
That was anonymous.
Will it be our any dressers to Cal Seneca, the human woman who is she's like looking at Flint up and down and then sort of like looks up like when she hears her name.
We'll be taking on the dangerous roads, whereas the the vibe and Natasse will be singing Arias between each act.
Of course, Monsieur Olivano, we'll be playing as a judge overseeing your tires.
All right.
I'm passing it, yes, yes, of course.
I'm not afraid of a little danger myself, but Judge Hendrothon is such a meaty role I couldn't pass it up.
So you you don't face any actual danger.
No, just the danger of a bad critique.
Sounds like a skill issue.
Yeah, sounds like you got an easy job.
He tries to ignore it.
Yes, yes, you may think so, but an actor of my pedigree, a lot of hours and practice and work come into providing what appears to be an effortless performance.
Nico's taking his all in like this is.
It's so over the top.
This person is so over the top and takes a lot.
Of effort to listen to.
Yeah, it's just like Nico's probably a little bit fascinated just by how I didn't know.
It just seems so fake.
It's like it's so unnatural to be like this.
Nico's probably really like, wow, this is this can't be real.
This person can't be real, but that that look might might get mistaken for like or so there might be some some misinterpretations going on there.
As he sees you, you're probably the only one who's Yeah, looking at him.
He, he, he puts a hand on your shoulder, and you notice that while your hand is callus from fire burns, from cooking, from working in the wilderness, building your cottage, planting a garden, all the things you've done, wielding weapons and whatnot, His are very soft, the nails perfectly manicured, pink cuticles pushed all the way back.
They just looks so different.
Yeah, a bit creepy.
Stay close with me and Nico.
OK, OK all.
Right, I'll show you the ways of trotting the boards.
Right.
Yeah, Yeah.
All right.
Thanks.
Thanks, I guess.
Thank you.
You're welcome.
He lifts the hand and suddenly laps it on his pants.
And I sort of look back to the rest of the party and like mouthing like.
What the what?
Yes, now that I have you all here together, Monsieur, Non nonsense, it's time to speak of payment.
It is up to each and everyone of you to make this the most popular performance we've ever had and in order to motivate you, you are each receiving 5% of the total cut from this performance.
Seems a bit light, Monsieur, with all due respect.
If anyone would like to role society to actually no.
If that's.
Yeah, I but can you do it untrained?
Yes you can.
But it's this is.
This is a.
Secret.
Yeah, because it's.
Required.
OK.
All right, secret society coming up.
We're fluently walking with trained society to be like, yeah, that's.
Shit, oh question mark.
I wrote question mark.
Nico, that is pretty good.
Sambrand Zekman might think, OK, 5%.
Oh really?
That might be light or I don't know.
I have no idea what a theater makes.
Nico doesn't really know what a theater makes either, but 5% of the total cut split between everyone feels it's pretty good for the going rate of actors these days.
Did I crit fail?
Is that what happened just in No No.
No, this is.
I was wondering.
This is for realsies.
We'll never know.
Never know.
OK, this is for realsies.
All right, OK.
Yeah.
This rate is actually.
I should say, this rate is relatively aggressive and respectable for such a production.
That's what the adventure text tells me.
OK, Sounds fair.
Thank you, Monsieur.
Non non.
Of course we are not in this for the money.
No, we are in this for the art.
There's a passion, the craft.
Actually, I heard that after a successful play that the cast is invited to a party at the mayor's.
You surprised me Sombra.
You care about parties?
I assume you to be a hater of fun and good times.
Of my fun and good times are quite unique and I have my own taste in them.
What my companion is trying to say is that we are also interested in meeting certain people at Set Party and maybe if we can sway the crowd with this show, we can also sway the hearts.
Of the Patriots.
This is what I mean.
We are not here for the gold.
It's the jewels.
It's the fame.
We are here to put feelings into people's hearts.
We are here to change the minds of our audience.
We are here to provide spectacle and.
Hopefully if you survive, you will get everything you dream of at this party afterwards.
I respect your capability of pulling so many words out of so few words.
Of course it is my job as a performer.
We will definitely be providing spectacle, don't you?
Worry with what will we start our preparations?
Do we have to recite lines?
Do we have to dodge more vegetables?
Spend time with the script, spend time with the stage, spend time with your cast mates.
When the sun rises on the on the day after tomorrow, we begin.
Right, OK.
But.
You are expected to be here sun up sundown for the next 7 days until the performance.
OK, I need your full attention.
If you cannot give it now, walk away.
Does that mean we sleep here if we're staying here so sundown?
Yeah, I guess it's catered as well, right, Because that's mealtimes.
Do not bother me with such trivial notions.
Food is very trivial indeed, Sekhud says a little bit sarcastically.
And you can see fear in Nico's eyes when.
I'm in the flows of genius.
Food does not matter to me.
To me.
OK, OK, genuinely nervous now.
If you must eat, do it out of my sight.
I, I think, I think I'm going to go eat now.
I'm going to eat too.
Marble, get me Mr.
Hump.
Excuse me?
And marble runs off.
Sorry.
Oh, the stage manager.
Millicom.
Mr.
Manager.
For some reason my mind defaulted.
Is that the name of like a plushie he has?
Is that the name of a stick?
His name Honestly bad.
It's going to get Mr.
Hump.
Mr.
Hump inspires me.
Who's good for the creative process?
This is where the idea from the polycule came from.
Marble goes scurrying off and the vibrator nest sort of looks at you all and then grabs Cal Seneca's arm and like moves her into the building and out of the direct sunlight.
Phasing goes over to Nico again.
So, Nico, how familiar are you with performing arts?
On a stage like this or on the stage of life?
On the only stage that really matters, that of the theatre.
Not, not a lot, to be fair, but my heart's in it.
I believe you, but for such a juicy lead role as yours, you should acquire a bit more experience of the Chillaxian scene.
OK, OK, that's yeah, if I mean I'm here to to provide a spectacle and I wanted to to convince the audience of the role.
What are you?
What are you suggesting pissing?
I have two tickets to an opera performance tonight, but your friend of mine is performing and I think you should go and see him.
Oh, So what me, me and a friend?
Me and a + 1 or.
Or Oh yes, of course, of course I I have prior.
Engagements.
Yeah, no, I assumed you did and like looking genuinely like relaxed about that now.
Yeah.
OK.
Yeah, I'll take I'll take you up on that offer.
That sounds great.
Thank you.
Piercing Get.
Them out of my jacket pocket and as he turns around to go inside the camera can see this like evil grin on his face.
Was marble still in the area?
She had run inside to go get Mr.
OK, because I would have went to see her reaction.
So actually it is just the the four of you left on the stage for a moment, as wrote Mr.
Nannon.
Sort of like walks away to go talk to Mr.
Hump who just has is coming out from backstage now.
I don't know what is.
What have I signed up for here?
The process aside, I still think the goals are they're important, they're worth doing.
Yeah, yeah, absolutely that.
There will be no shortage of complaining about the process though.
That's fair, that's so fair.
And look, I'm I might look like I'm being pally with him, but this is just towards the mission.
Everything right now is to convince these fuckers that we're doing, we're doing what they want us to do.
I was going to walk in, but you were handling yourself quite OK.
Thanks.
Thanks bro.
I'm so glad that you've got my back that that gives me confidence to to go through with this awful, this awful thing that we're doing.
But yeah, now I bigger picture, right?
Bigger picture.
I hope that Lowen is doing all right backstage WE.
Should check on it and viddy I don't need to check on.
Him That was quite the the moment there I.
Have no idea, I didn't know he was crewing here and he looked he looked a bit surprised at me being here holding hands with.
Like wait, was he actually surprised?
Summer looks confused as Ekun.
I'm not sure if it was, it felt a little bit stilted, perhaps a little bit acted.
I don't know, I'll have to have a chat with them.
You know, I mean, if we're going to eat or practice our script, we might also check in backstage.
We can immediately also check in on low way.
As you maybe turn to go backstage to sort of look at things, you see Marble and Miss, you know, and Mr.
Milik Humph speaking.
Ah, yes, he says.
Samara, come here.
Monsieur Nolan says you are first go with Hump to be fitted for your costume.
Costume and Summer sort of looks back for testing, but she does go with Hump.
It took about, I'm going to say the auditions were probably like maybe an hour.
So we're like closer to 2:00 in the afternoon now on Fire Day, the 16th of Desness.
Loewen, you are in the storage room with Yaako and Morris, and the three of you have been cleaning, organizing.
Not doing anything really, I think.
I think if anything, at some point, maybe close to the end of the hour, Loewen would have actually walked out to go around.
Like walk around, look around.
Kind of like they just going into every room.
They don't really care.
They're just like I want to see what's here.
I want to get a lay of the land.
I want to know where old you know any doors are like they they try and get to building.
There is a door in the southern wall of the storage room that leads to steps that go up and down so you are able to go upstairs.
Look at some of the dressing rooms, some of the more sort of like conventional inner rehearsal spaces.
There is one like dance studio where one whole wall is mirrors and I don't know how low it feels about like seeing themselves totally reflected like that.
It's probably super rare actually to get like a floor length reflection.
That's a good question actually, Yeah, because I don't think they have a full length mirror or anything like that.
A home.
I think they do take a moment to stop and look, but I think if anything they stop and look for a moment and then come really close and try and see if there's anything behind the mirrors and then probably discern there's nothing and then keep walking into the next room.
As you are exploring the space, you come down the other side of the building where there are also steps into like a carpentry room where you see Vicki, this tall green haired man with broad shoulders, well muscled.
He turns and he's like, Oh, well, hello there.
My name's Vicki.
I know who you are.
You're Niko's boyfriend.
Yes, but we're undercover.
I am aware and you're doing a terrible job.
That's not helpful.
Just you're you're overcompensated.
You're trying to part.
Coming your way from the mainstage now are two women, one of them being the Vibrateness.
What an awful word.
Yes.
Who you might know if you'd like to roll a society check, Yeah.
Why isn't it just vibe Baroness and not what's the test on it?
It's vibe Baronet tests.
Because they're extra.
They're annoyingly extra.
I guess, and this is a fantasy world, we need to make the words fancier.
You recognize her from descriptions.
You may have actually even seen her perform when you were young, so the makeup does cover a lot of the passage of the years, but you you do recognize her and she is.
She was probably the most famous opera singer in West Crown, which doesn't isn't a whole lot, but had it renowned also in Cheliacs, in Great Greater Cheliacs.
And you are pretty surprised to see a performer of her stature in a show like this for sure.
But I think you are even more surprised to see the young woman next to her.
This woman has Nidalese features.
So where's a typical Trillaxian?
It has white skin and dark hair.
Black hair.
A Nidalese person is even more pronounced because their whole country is has been shrouded in darkness for millennia, for thousands of years a long time.
This young woman with dark shoulder length dark hair sort of stops when she sees you.
Yeah, Lois also wide eyed like.
Oh my God.
Cal.
Lori.
Lori, OH.
My God, oh God, and.
She always like phrases.
She like runs up to you and puts her hands forward for you to like put your hands into hers.
They're like just are sort of frozen, kind of in surprise and but will then kind of take her hands and be like, what the hell are you doing?
Oh.
My goodness, what?
Lorian, can I hug you?
Oh.
Vicky's looking like.
Sure.
But yeah.
And they're they're like, I think, I think they'll sort of like nod, like let her.
I think it's more just because they don't know how to react in this.
Moment so Kal Seneca comes in and gives Lowen a hug and then squeezes and you can see her almost brush back a tear as she pulls away.
It's like so nice to see you.
Is it?
Sorry, I'm very What are you doing here?
Well, I'm working.
I'm performing.
Right.
Yes, yes, Cariceneca is performing as the lead female role in the eye, The Viberateness, the law, Alomaxa.
God, is she worse than fetezing or just as bad?
I.
Feel.
Well, if you said she's like a prime opera diva, maybe she earned it.
She's earned it.
He's you're right.
Right.
Poor, poor Cariceneca.
I'm so worried for her.
Such a dangerous role.
Are you sure, dear, that you want to do this?
Oh well, I mean, like, it's going to be pretty dangerous, but it feels like a great way to start my career.
Loren will sort of like take Koseneko's arm, like like a lower arm for that.
Like can I speak to you in private?
Oh, in private?
Well, says the vibe Baron to this.
And Koseneko says, oh, Lori, it's like, fine, I'll be OK Lori is an old friend of mine.
It's Lowen.
No, if you wouldn't.
Lowen OK, She shrugs.
OK.
And Lowen will Jesse having had a look toward the place we'll probably know like maybe place.
It doesn't even have to close if.
We head back upstairs and just some random probably Mr.
Hump's office that he's not using right now.
So you're in there.
It's really clean, it's very tidy, although quite full of things like Knick knacks but also tools and.
Is it F9?
Sorry, is it F9?
No, it's not F9 is there?
There aren't numbers on this map.
You're doing a callback.
Yeah, it's a callback.
I was thinking.
Happened in F9.
Yeah, I was thinking of the keyboard key, so I was really confused.
So no, it's like.
Lowen like Lowen Lowen, Lowen Lowen she she says it multiple times like doing like a speech exercise.
It just, I don't, you know what, actually, I take your time with it.
That's fine.
Low wind.
Cal.
Cal What?
Stop what?
Why are you here?
Really, like I said, I'm.
Just I even know about this.
This is a a play that might kill you.
Well, yeah, I'm worried about that part, but this is like the biggest thing to happen to me.
I'm sure there's I mean, you could probably I mean, I don't like it when people use their names to get into places, but I just I just don't get it.
I get that you're wanting an acting career.
That's great, that's you should do that.
But this kind of, you know what these plays are like.
I do.
I mean, I'm a little worried about the acid, but I think if I stand behind the rest of the fighters, they look pretty tough.
I should be OK in the last act.
It's just that acid.
I've seen what acid can do.
It's not pretty.
Does I know you're here?
One person.
I just want to know, does Ivan know that you're here?
Who cares?
Fuck him.
Lovin like tries to get a read on her to see like.
She's angry.
Like if there's, yeah, there's.
Like Rage Burst.
Out of yeah, what he do?
You haven't heard?
No.
Oh well, Mother and Father disowned me when I started acting, and even though Ivan's head of the household now, he hasn't lifted the ban or anything.
Just to keep Daddy happy, I guess.
Whatever.
They're retired and living off an Egorian now with all their money.
They don't give a crap what happens here because Ivan at the very least could get me my allowance back.
But it's fine, it's fine.
I love acting, I am.
It's a gift to stand on the stage.
And she's like closing her eyes, reminding herself that.
Can I tell if she's telling herself that because she's scared or if she's actually being genuine about this?
Make a secret perception check.
She believes it, She fully believes it.
And even though this is a murder play, she is convinced that the magic of the theater will protect her.
Right think Lowen like listens to her say all that and then like waits for her to to finish and then goes I'm sorry that you got disowned.
I'm also not surprised that Simon hasn't lifted it.
I mean one person away from the house means the tone is his.
It's not like I even like, wanted it.
I've always wanted to be an actress.
It's just this is my second big break.
What's the fuck?
OK, I've been trying to get land a gig for like 2 years since they, you know, let me go.
It's been tough life on the mainland.
Oh low.
And some of the apartments here are so awful.
I, I I have a question, obviously I left quite a long time ago.
What did Jelana say?
Where did they go?
Yeah, right.
I was going to like ask.
You were in Absalom, right?
At the Arcademerium.
Have you graduated?
I mean, I heard some rumors that you were at the Academy in Corvosa, but of course she didn't.
She wouldn't have sent you there, right?
No, she didn't actually sent me anywhere Cal.
I left my own accord and I left her a letter asking or not asking, telling her that I would look forward to seeing what lie she would come up with to explain my disappearance.
And this is honestly so so it tracks.
But it's unoriginal.
I have been living here on the mainland for the past eight years.
Get out, you've been here too.
Yes.
We could have been roomies.
But you'd only just.
When did you get there?
Like 2 years ago.
But we just like, have I never seen you and I?
Where does do you live?
Oh well, I have a small flat in Rego Saccaro it's.
Not that I live.
It's the nicest I could get.
I mean, believe me, it's like living in a box with a toilet.
I will gladly take you to Lego Clue.
Gasp, no Lowen, it's.
Not that bad, it's.
Not no.
You gotta get out of there.
You gotta get out of there.
Is it like Lowen actually generally laughs?
We're not like, at her.
I think it's like this is a very familiar kind of like attitude and I think he's always found it somewhat amusing.
Like listen, I'm fine.
I I know it might be hard to believe, but I like it there.
It's simple.
I never fit it in the island so it was always too much.
I like it.
It's not much Nicola, but it's set my pace I think.
OK, if you say so.
I do.
Oh dear heart, it's so good to see you.
There's a moment where low and kind of just just silent, like processing that.
They're a bit confused as well.
They sort of expected, you know, because they left that maybe someone like hell might not be excited.
And then they sort of remember something and they're like, are you really?
I thought you wanted me to leave you alone.
That's what Simon told me.
I never said that flow and I don't know why you would think that.
Wait, so OK, makes sense.
And like you see, like I feel like because I got used to low and kind of like speaking out loud and not adding like not including her in the mental kind of train of thought.
And then they go like Edward Siven.
OK, that explains it.
But come, you must speak with Delore.
I mean the Vibera finesse.
I'd rather eat my shoe.
Oh.
But she's been such a good friend to me.
My big, my first big break earlier this year, well, I was actually under studying under her and then she had a terrible accident and I had to go on.
And since then she's been such a great support.
I don't know what I would do without her.
Right, so can I have a moment to process?
OK.
And she sits down in Mr.
Hump's desk chair and clasps her hands together and waits.
Yeah, and I think Loewen actually sort of turns his back to her, just as they'll not ignore her, but just not look at her.
And then maybe after a minute he goes like, all right, The other actors, they are my companions, sort of my colleagues, I think.
OK.
And so are you working on the performance?
We get to spend time together.
And like, they'll turn around and like Ashley should have collapsed and then looked at her and smiles a moment and he was like, I've missed you, Cal.
Dear heart.
And she puts her hands out again to take yours.
I've missed you too, lowy.
Oh.
God, oh that's worse somehow.
Don't.
Don't say that around the others, please.
They will never let it go.
Lowy lowy and the camera pans away and we come back down to Mr.
Hump, the straight backed goateed man and balding up top.
Quite stern look as he's leading Sombra into the backstage area.
Is this what you wear during adventuring typically?
OK, we'll have to work around this.
Is armor a problem?
I prefer not to wear anything that restricts my movement.
Like he's kind of like thinking to himself, I'm sorry, I've been laughing.
And it's making me laugh.
How's that?
Sound.
Yeah, I'm trying to do Snape meets Squidward.
He leads you into the back, and as you come around the corner to this very narrow, sort of like hallway next to the carpentry room where Vitti is hammering at something, you see a small halfling woman in here with all this accoutrement for costuming and accessories and all of that.
And you're you stop for a moment because you instantly recognize her haircut, the short brown hair that comes up at the sides.
Piosa.
Oh yes, that's my name.
How lovely to meet you.
She like gives a quick look at Mr.
Hump and then extends her hand to shake yours.
Sambra goes and shakes Piosa's hand, turns to Mr.
Hump.
I saw her at a bar before.
Makes really good breakfast.
OK, Mr.
Hump doesn't really care.
He's much more focused on this golden breastplate that is sitting on a mannequin.
And he goes over it.
And emblazoned on the front is the Eye of Aridin, this eyeball with, like, wings as his holy symbol.
And he lifts it up.
And as he lifts it up, you realize it's not, it's not plastic, but it's not like real breastplate.
There's some metal adornments to it.
He puts it back down, turns to you.
Do I have your consent to attach this to your body?
Sure, but to give you an idea of the kind of movement I do and what lifts her finger that pointing at the armor might go through, Summer just kind of turns around and runs at a wall and tries to like kick flip back off a wall.
Athletics or acrobatics?
That feels acrobatic to me because she's trying to flourish this.
Do an acrobatics check.
Sambra rolled a natural 20 for a total of 30.
131.
Amazing.
Cool, he sees you do that.
This won't work.
He also can get the tunics.
We can only see what those look like on her.
Her pronouns.
She they.
On them, OK.
He also sort of like nods and runs and sort of gets some maroony type tunics with the same arid and eye emblazoned on them and like kind of pulls you over and puts you on a little small pedestal.
She tries to bring her hands up to put the tunic over your head, but.
Sambra goes down to 1 knee.
Yes, yes, start with this.
I need to check on some things and he he goes off and feels like has needle and thread and she begins sort of making adjustments to suit this the tunic to your body.
Is everyone from the temple here?
No, no, just the four of us.
Who else did she see?
Are you asking me because you're there might be surprises?
I mean, you know, there are four, OK?
Morris and Yako and Vidi are here.
That tracks.
As like she goes wow this is looking great as someone random walks by and then but wait what are you doing here?
We have a lead, and the lead requires us to be in this goddamn play.
I mean, it's kind of brilliant.
The the idea or the play?
The idea?
I'm not really fond of the content matter.
That's that's very diplomatic of you.
It's really doesn't paint arrogance chosen who you're playing.
And she smiles at that.
It doesn't really paint him in a great light, but wow, I think it really suits you.
That that's kind of you to say almost didn't make these auditions, but the old group is going to be doing this with us, with me.
Oh wait, everyone.
Ah cool.
Oh my God.
Lowen's not acting though.
Oh, OK, OK.
Very vehemently against it, which is fine, but sure.
Yeah, I mean, we're also following a lead just.
Stay safe, OK?
Of course, and if anyone gives you trouble, you let me know.
How do you feel about a helmet?
Is it a real helmet?
Not necessarily.
There are some real ones here I think in the backroom, but this one is pretty light, meant for the stage, and we can paint it and change it to suit.
I figured.
Would you just mind?
Yeah, you have a job to do, right?
And Summer sort of Snickers at that.
She puts the helmet on and sort of stands back.
I guess you could be a Paladin of Aradin.
I wanted to it could be a paladin of Aradin.
I mean, Aradin was pretty no nonsense.
Wasn't really as as as kind and just as Iomedy the inheritor is.
Aradin wasn't really all that good.
He actually did a lot of bad stuff too.
So yeah, it suits you.
I'll.
Take it, it's just for the lead.
She's like kind of caught up in her work.
So towards the mid afternoon, our group finds themselves in the amphitheater.
The sun has moved down a little bit behind some buildings to create a nice shade here.
Of course, it being mid-May doesn't necessarily mean that it's super hot.
It's also time, Nico.
If you want to catch your show, you will need to leave soon.
Oh my goodness.
Yeah, yeah, I'm going to.
I'll have a chat with the companions first about about this.
Hey I've never been to a theater before and facing is giving me these tickets saying you know for free, saying I should go check it out because I might pick out some tips or something but I don't know what do you what do you think?
I've got 2.
Can I see them?
Yeah, sure.
Yeah, yes.
Sombra takes to inspect them.
Anything unusual about them?
Or is the seats a good seat, a bad seat?
They're good.
They're very good seats.
They are in the orchestra section.
Trying to remember all my theater terminology.
The seats are in the orchestra section, so they're pretty up close.
The exact theater is in Regopena, so not far from here.
Enough time for Nico to get there and to maybe get to Wanderers Grove before dark.
I think going all the way up to the Arboretum.
Would be would be a push.
It would be a rush.
You'd be, you'd be, you'd be running.
But you could probably stay at get the zeros in the Wandering Grove.
Still.
I need the name of an opera.
The flower of the Rose guard.
Look at you, Mr.
Just Finished Abomination Boss.
Yeah, it's a opera about a newly penned opera about the founders of a town near Absalom called Otari.
Oh, that's familiar.
I think we'll also like over summer she'll look at them and then look at Nico like he gave you this for free.
Yeah, Sid was helping out.
That asshole doesn't strike me as the kind of anything genuinely kind.
No, I agree, he's really weird.
What did he say to you exactly?
He kind of made it out like he was being generous and it was a favour and that it was looking forward for me to be working on the stage and an experience in it that along those lines.
Well, first of all, you are as competition.
Second, if it's a favour you ought, you ought to repay it so.
Do you want to go to this show?
On the other hand, getting a chance to see another kind of performance up close might be some good I well study material.
Yeah.
Do you know what?
You're right.
If I don't want to go into this whole world, naive.
So yeah, How?
Why not?
Let's let's go and see what these people are about.
I know what they're about.
You know exactly what they treat newcomers and naive people like.
Yeah, I'll get pretty thick skin.
I'll be.
I'll be all right.
It's not the thick skin I'm worried about.
What is it?
I I don't trust, I don't trust them.
If he would do this for free, then don't go.
You know what would actually be better?
It's to stand them up.
That would be better and funnier.
But also be very rude.
No, no, no, no.
Trust me, it will be.
It's exactly, it will be exactly what you need with these people.
Yeah.
You are Nicole.
I I said it to you, utmost respect.
You are a bit of naive.
Sometimes you see the good in people, which is great, just not these people.
Do you know what?
You're right, and I still feel a bit guilty about bringing you on here.
I'm going to listen to your advice, Levin.
And yeah, I'm going to stand him up.
Good.
That time you turned into that bug?
Yeah.
How long can you do that for?
That's.
10 minutes.
Sorry, not the.
Sorry creepy, your little plan is not going to work tonight.
Actually, I'd be kind of curious what is actually on his mind.
Yes, maybe.
You could secretly visit him in this direction.
Or the fuck?
He hangs out around the time where the show starts.
See what sort of comments?
Drop out of his mouth.
That's interesting.
Yeah.
I am curious though, why would he want me to go there?
What would he?
Best to hear it from him directly.
Well.
First thing's not going to.
He's not going.
Fezing's not going to be there, he can't make it, which is why he's giving Nico these tickets.
But he might be like the show is starting that fool.
I mean, you don't know.
If Adam Roach might know.
If he has anything planned or what or why, what could be a super nice thing that you're all spitting on for no reason at all.
No, but I respect what?
I respect what Lowen said.
Like I know that these people better than I do.
Yeah.
So listeners can't tell that I say this all with a shit eating grin.
Oh it's good.
OK then.
Nico is not going and nor is he taking a + 1.
No because I would have taken Viddy and Fugo.
Does anyone else want this ticket?
He lowen like, does.
Consider it for a moment, If only because they can disguise themselves anyway and also because they're they're also similarly to somewhere curious what it's about.
But then also they think, you know, like the thought of having to be at a play for a couple hours.
I don't know if they're if they're up to it, but yeah, I think, I think delicate things like.
Do you reckon you could sell these on, get some, get some cash?
Maybe.
Oh, there we go.
That's.
Fantastic idea actually.
Good, good seats, right?
Yeah, yeah.
All right, here you go and I'll look around before palming them over to her.
I can, I mean Loewen has pickpocket as a fee so I'm sure that they can make.
Oh yeah, they'll be.
They'll be loosely hanging out my my back, my back shorts, my shorts.
And I wasn't like Loewen looks at it.
Because I don't know if this is the first time that I think they got to talk me like, are you aware of who are the other stage hands are?
By the way, I don't know if you've been introduced yet.
Some concerned.
People concerned about the play I I don't do doublespeak.
Good.
Oh, so that's why Vidi acted that way.
We've got multiple people.
We've got Vidi, Yakko, Morris and.
Fiosa, as you all know.
Oh, do we have any idea what they are exactly doing?
Here I think Yakko said something about them or us having the same idea as them, so they might be on the same lead or on the similar.
They had access to the letter from the mayor and this is connected to the mayor, so neither they can dig up I think.
Are they also trying to get into the festivities?
That I don't know.
I don't think so.
Because mostly we spend the time scoping the place out and finding a familiar face unexpectedly.
And all of them, they are hands backstage.
Is that correct?
Yes, so.
Far I will keep an eye on them.
So they will be pulling the strings, moving the machinery.
Hopefully, maybe helping us out.
If our previous conversation about not trusting the gift of tickets is another reminder of the deception with which one must live in this city, perhaps we can use the fact that we have friends behind stage to improve our odds in this play I.
Like that?
I'll see what I can do.
So, Nico, yeah.
How do you feel about your role now, knowing who's watching Well?
That's a good question, Zukun.
And I think it's an opportunity to strengthen my bond with Viddy because guess who's going to be playing opposite me when we're when I'm practicing lines at night?
Viddy and Zekun like honestly chuckles at that remark and smiles at Nico.
So when I'm on stage and I'm acting with Calcenica, guess who I'm thinking in my mind is reading those lines back at me?
Oh.
God, so I forgot about that.
What?
What did you forget?
Sorry, I saw familiar face.
Like I said, calcenica I we go back.
You go back.
Delightfully vague, even for you.
We were.
We grew up together.
Let's put it like that.
I I bet I'm more concerned about the fact that she's signed up for this.
Is she someone you care for?
Yes.
OK, whoa.
From the island even.
You want her to stay safe throughout this performance, yes.
OK.
I don't know, it's hoping to talk to her again and.
Hey, but she she's your people, right?
I'm not sure what you would mean by my people, but I.
Well, you said you care for and you want to keep her safe, yes?
So by extension, we'll help her out.
Logan looks at somewhere for a moment like she's siphons sister.
Oh, that's like a situation.
The Do you remember the you're the, the fancy guy at the Tavern?
I mean the day we first met.
Lenovo the first met.
Oh, when we first.
Oh, right.
Wait a minute, your your friend.
Are they the adventuring type?
Have they seen danger?
Do they have means protect?
Themselves very shuttered.
They were she, she was, she was very worried about the fact that I live in Nicola.
Samba pulls out her rolled up copy of the script and flips it.
She's El Sandra, right?
Yes, I believe so.
She's going into the acid with us.
Yes, she she said she was worried about that and I am worried about that as well.
She thinks it's a good opportunity for her career, but.
Lowen I don't say this out of unkindness, especially since she's someone you're concerned with, but having someone like that in that situation will compromise us and our own ability to stay safe and alive to get to our end goals when we have to remind someone who cannot take care of themselves.
I I'm not asking that I I that's not why I brought up.
I will try and figure out a way to maybe keep it safe backstage from I'll figure something out you you should.
Focus on your no, no, we've got 7 days.
We'll we'll figure something out, not just you.
You've got enough to.
You've got to learn your lines and everything.
I'm backstage all the time.
We signed up for this together, Low.
Exactly.
And we'll make sure we all come out on the other side as unscathed as possible.
You say she's important to you, she's important to us.
Loans of science for a moment and I think everyone can see well, no, actually they can't piss their eyes.
They don't have pupils, but maybe like everyone spit across.
They are desperately trying to read everyone's faces and then I think come to the conclusion that this is a genuine thing and they're like.
OK.
And Fugo jumps up and slowly starts clapping.
Slow clap.
Fugo.
And that's when we'll end our episode.
That's all Fugo's got.
Maybe they can get a like a small tambourine for moments like this.
Oh my.
God.
Fugo carries a tiny Fugo size chalkboard.
Yes.
Wait, can Fugo frightens?
Is that a feat he used to take?
Yes.
Oh no, I.
Don't know.
No I thought this through.
Fugo doesn't need item delivery or or a cantrip connection through this whole week.
In fact, it's more important that they've got speech and hands because Viddy, Bugo and Nico, we're going to be reading lines to get perfect perfect in the night.
Viddy as El Sandra Bugo is drogbling.

Wow, that was quite a mouthful to get here.
Cue the.
Sound.
I don't know if that wouldn't.
Even.
Deserve this.
That's not good.
That's not.
Going to make the final I'll.
Just I'll just cut the whole thing.
Out.
Ouch.
Ouch.
Hasn't lost.
Speech, unfortunately for everyone, no.
Bye.
