Episode Transcript

Speaker 1

Oh oh oh, and Mack and Bow on your radio, Basy, this is my.

Speaker 2

Friend back Posh, come I posh, this is my friend team.

Speaker 1

What's up the fun?

Speaker 3

I can't go to work without listening to Mack and Bone do a.

Speaker 1

Lot I get.

Speaker 4

I'd get happy, like about the state has been Like I played in two playoff games and it was in Buffalo.

Both games where in Buffalo.

Believeue, no one in Buffalo woes in Kansas City and this place can't compete with any place.

But the two places that I played, Man, this place was rocking.

It was like that was unbelievable.

Man, I'm so proud to be a part of this.

And people don't know.

Man, I didn't.

Speaker 1

I had no idea about that.

Speaker 5

You know me.

Speaker 4

So I just saw it tonight, and I saw a couple of weeks ago and I kind of you could feel it.

And I felt it last year too, like if we start winning, you can feel like this place in these states want to come together and roof or something.

Speaker 6

And big Rob hunt Man, he battled Bone, he battled had to leave the game with a peck injury.

Of course, he's coming back way quicker than anybody expected from a torn biceps.

He battled his ass off, made you love to big Rob Hunt, get completely healthy.

Let's get the best version of you in the off season, or not in the offseason, but for next season.

The hell I'm trying to say.

But anyway, I like what he said there.

He says, yeah, you heard it.

I don't need to completely repeat it.

But you know, he was a little surprised Bone by the atmosphere.

I think a lot of guys, maybe that don't know Carolina, would not think we could turn up like that on a playoff night.

But you and I have seen it.

When there's a reason to be amped, this fan base is going to be amped.

And KB and I were talking about this when we were riding with our shuttle driver.

David Tepper has his driver Bone to and from the games.

KB and I have our driver d back.

All right, so we're riding with our driver down there to the game, and like it's crazy, Bone.

Speaker 1

It's like because usually we.

Speaker 6

Go there, you know, we get there about three and a half hours for the game, right because we are pregames on three hours for the game, and usually it's like a ghost town.

I mean, it was rocking and I could tell right then holy crap, this is gonna be something.

And you cam down the street doing the show in front of the roaring riot.

What the city was freaking alive, man, and that stadium was alive.

So I was banned from the area.

You said in I quote, if I see you, I'll whoop your ass.

So I decided to stay early.

Is something to be scared of.

Let me tell you, Oh, you are a threat.

Speaker 7

You are a an intimidating presence in the fighting run.

Speaker 1

No, I wasn't there, so I wouldn't know.

Speaker 7

But I'll be back next year, and no one's gonna keep me out of that stadium next year, right, pal, You know.

Speaker 1

What, Let's try it next year.

Speaker 6

Go see the Panthers next year, go see Duke South Carolina.

Let's see if your luck is any better.

Now, do you want to ban you for life?

Do you mean my regular season or August?

Heah, let's start with the preseason game.

See how that goes?

Speaker 2

Alright?

Speaker 1

So fine, fine, okay, So what do you think?

Speaker 6

You and I were talking about this earlier, But let's all have the conversation.

Give me the words to describe how you're feeling today.

Some people, one guy said Mac I'm spitting mad.

I don't care if you are or not.

I said, I'm not mad, I'm just bummed.

Like I wanted that extra week to be talking playoffootball.

I wanted one more game with his team that I love so much.

But I can't be mad at him bone because they were ten point dogs and damn near pulled it off.

Speaker 1

I'm definitely proud.

Speaker 6

Like explain, everybody explained kind of their feelings now that we've had it.

You know, now that we're two days removed, how.

Speaker 7

You feel bo disappointed but prideful, sad that it ended.

I know this wasn't going to be a team that's remembered as the best Panthers team, but it's a team that sort of got things started, that established the foundational elements of winning again that we so sorely needed.

So a lot of times after a postseason loss, March madness loss, whenever there's a season ending loss, you feel almost mad that it happened.

I was mad, not that it happened.

I was mad that we don't get to see these guys play another game, whether Chicago or Seattle.

I was very, very proud of the effort.

Playoff loss, it's gonna be different things.

This one, to me was about pride and disappointment that those guys did not get one more chance and we could not watch them one more time.

Yeah, because the Chicago game would have been fun.

You have the quarterback storylines, you have Ben Johnson who temper wanted, you have a lot Dj Moore, you would have a lot of storylined.

Or how fun would it have been if it was Panthers Bears the visional Round.

We didn't get to see that, but I'm very proud that we saw this team compete the way that they did.

Speaker 6

By the way, good for Dj Moore.

He now has two game winning touchdowns against the Packers, including a playoff one.

Always thought he was a great dude.

Good on him.

The Bears fans are kind of annoying bone and with the old Bryce trade thing, but good on him.

Speaker 1

What do you think?

Speaker 6

How do you describe how you're feeling today?

We have not really heard a lot from Panther Fhitty except when he ripped the Cowboys earlier, which is very cool.

Speaker 1

How are you?

How do you describe how you feel?

Speaker 8

Like?

Speaker 1

Are you mad about anything?

Like?

What are your what are you feeling?

Speaker 4

No?

Speaker 5

I think it's kind of like where you where you are.

Mac just said that we don't get to do this another week, and like for me, I get to do pregame with you and KB.

It's my favorite extra you know thing I do here at the station.

I love running those pregames shows.

I love being a part of that build up on Saturday, just being a part of that energy that led up to kickkoff.

You know, I joke about smoking I watching these games together.

But when we were walking out, like we were just talking about how much fun it was watching this team grow and watch what this team became.

And you know, I told you I wanted the mic before the show, and I want to do this a little bit later.

But I mean, I want to say thank you, like I came to y'all last spring and said I want I want back.

Speaker 1

I want to be a part of this.

Speaker 5

And I feel like for the most part, I got welcomed back in with with open arms, and I fell in love with this team.

I fell in love with being a Panther fan again.

I felt like a kid for the majority of the season.

I'm gonna misshak in my ass.

I'm gonna miss dancing because man, that's a lot of fun.

But I'm like you, Mac, let's get these playoffs over with crown thus to the Super Bowl champion, and let's get to the offseason because I'm so pumped about where this team is going, because this was the beginning, this was the foundation year of where they're going under Dave Canalistan Morgan, Enbryce Young and I'm just stoked, man, I'm really excited.

Speaker 1

To be heard.

Speaker 7

Fity, I think you earned your spot this year.

We all kind of thought you would turn on them eventually, but I thought, whatever it took this year, whether it's dancing or you picked a team to win every single week, I thought you did a great job this year and establishing your foundation as a Panther.

Speaker 6

I also have been informed, but I've got the official count here.

You and Smoke apparently in your emotional highs and lows of the season together watching the games together, that you together combined for one thousand and sixty two HR violations while watching.

So I feel like that's a sign of your passion for the team.

Speaker 1

Fitty Mac.

Speaker 5

When Cocher, when Cocher scored the touchdown, you know, smoking, I have this thing.

When Coker makes the play, we make a cocaine which where we we start sniffing.

I head butted the wall.

Why did you not do the mac?

And I asked you to take footage of this the other did you not do it?

Speaker 8

No?

Speaker 7

Oh, come on, I'm letting you down.

Was embarrassed by we're gonna do a highlight video I edited?

Why did you not do it?

I just we got into the moment, but I head butted the wall.

Doesn't want the world to see right, because I mean, I'm twenty nine years old.

Speaker 1

You thinking at some point I have to grow?

Well, you're a content god fitty.

We want to steal guys, think Bartla.

Speaker 5

Guys are in their forties what they're doing after that's true, but they also have lives and they're established, you know, in their personal life.

Speaker 6

I have no like, this is all I have.

You're a video would cost you a future wise it's a major content.

Speaker 1

What now?

Honestly I was gonna edit a whole video for you.

Speaker 6

What happened to the content?

God, bodie, do we have to down right in from content?

Speaker 1

God?

I just content, Prince.

I did a great job.

I take it all back.

Now you want to see that.

Speaker 6

I think a word I can use is energized, and I am disappointed.

I am upset, and I do I know Horn was out that final drive.

I would love to see how it would go if Avero called a couple more blitz.

I'm not sure it would have been different, honestly, but I would have liked to see a different approach.

Speaker 1

Corners move up just a little bit.

There was too much time and they had three timeouts to do what he did.

Speaker 6

But I also realized bone there was a stretch in the middle of this game where the Rams had seven possessions and scored six points.

I also realized two bone there that this offense gave the defense set here, here's a short field for the Rams.

Good luck fellas, Like I just they did that four times, two fourth down failures and two turn or two yeah, two fourth down failures and two turnovers.

So the defense had to come up big during that energized as a word, man like, I'm so energized, y'all for this offseason.

Like in the past, it would be like, how do we improve ourselves from complete due to to be like okay.

Now it's like all right, this team's okay.

Now we're all right, We're feisty how do we get to the point where we're a damn good team?

And that's what's got me fired up.

And I would just say this to Dan Morgan, they listened to me.

If he listened to me, he wouldn't have picked t MAC and we would have been in trouble.

So don't listen to me fully, Dan, But I do want to say this, please over there, be aggressive.

You guys have been doing a methodical build.

I think it's time to up the aggression this offseason.

Speaker 7

Yeah, I agree with you completely, And as far as the Rams go, I think proper context is needed.

I know the Rams have not played their best football down the stretch, but they still have the league MVP.

They have the best maybe offensive player in the league in Puka.

They've got a Hall of Famer in Devonte Adams, they have a Hall of Fame head coach in Sean mcvalue's not even forty yet.

The Panthers took them to the limit Mac.

The Rams now go play on the road against a team that's the two seed in Chicago.

The Rams are favored by three and a half in that game.

So it's also a proper context of really what the Rams have and how good they are.

This wasn't like the two and fourteen Cardinals game, whatever year that was.

That bad Cardinals team came in here with Ryan Linley and they beat the Panthers.

The Panthers took one of the best offenses, if not the best offense in the league, one of the best teams in the league, a team that could win it all, one.

Speaker 1

Of the best coaches to the max, and they almost won the game.

Speaker 6

So it's also remember who they played in, this biggest underdog in playoff history at home, and you were that close to freaking beating them.

So again, like that's why I can't be mad.

I would say this, not many of you are mad.

This dude said, you ain't a real Panther fan if you ain't angry that we blew two leads in the fourth quarter.

I just wasn't angry.

How many teams I was sad, I was sad, I was bummed.

I was heartbroken, I really was.

But I can't be angry at this bunch.

Like we don't have the talent that team has, we don't have the playoff experience.

We got down fourteen nothing.

I thought we were gonna get run out of our own house.

Man like I just love to fight.

They showed this is a start of something.

I firmly believe that.

Speaker 7

Checking my notes here, Panthers blew a lead, So did Jacksonville, so did Philadelphia, so did the Packers.

I'm pretty sure that was the theme of the weekend.

Eighteen pointer that was the theme of the weekend was blowing weeds.

How many lead changes happened in the fourth quarner.

The Panders came back a couple.

Speaker 6

Of times in the game all four of the games before that snowsfest last night.

That only the only person in Charlotte that enjoyed that was Flounder.

We actually Flounder and Drake May's family members, we're the only ones that enjoyed that snows fest.

But the first four Wildcard games, every game featured the game winning touchdown in the final three minutes.

It was just, good man, it's it'll be fun next week.

I had a little hard time watching yesterday because I was just so like sad that we weren't in it anymore, and we were that close to being in it, so I wasn't like, by next week, I think I'll be ready to go.

But I think we're getting more classics hell, we got the game tonight.

That could be a real close one.

Richie is backbone.

Speaker 7

Richie is we weren't eat his text, but he feels like we kind of have to.

Ritchie Richie.

Richie's rather bitchy.

Speaker 1

I feel like a matter of fact, can that be his name?

Speaker 6

Richie?

They've lost three straight and y'all are celebrating.

Richie, were you in a coma for the previous seven seasons of the temper era?

Speaker 7

This is progress, my friend.

We didn't say they deserve to be in the playoffs all last week.

Speaker 6

Now he's mad.

They watch the playoff game.

Yea, they showed they were worthy.

Man, That's the thing.

They didn't go.

If they went out there and embarrassed themselves, that would be very disheartening.

But they went toe to toe, man, after spotting them fourteen points.

Speaker 1

Richie feels like he may have a little bit of fake rage going on here.

Do you think so?

Speaker 6

Or is he just sent or is just a bomb like some people are just I shouldn't say bomb.

I mean, Richie's all right, it's just Richie looks at the world.

I would say I would say glass half empty, But to Richie, the whole glass is empty, like that's just the way he looks at the world.

Speaker 1

And I understand it.

This guy right here, Mack, you do realize.

Speaker 6

Not every sports fan is happy go lucky like you and Bone.

I'm furious that Dave Canalis screwed up on fourth downs.

But as a Texter said earlier, is it a lib by the sword?

Died by the sword?

Yeah, Like we were in the playoffs in part because of fourth downs.

We wouldn't have beat the Rams the first time if they didn't gamble on fourth down.

I felt bony the first fourth down.

I was ready to go first drive.

Let's set the tone right.

I would have liked to try to run the football.

I feel like it showed his lack of faith in the running game, his shaking confidence in the running game.

Speaker 1

They didn't try to the second one.

Speaker 6

I kind of thought, maybe I see what you're doing, Dave.

This is your mo But I thought Bone, as good as the defense was playing, maybe you Sam Barton was having a hell of a night punting, Oh he really did.

I thought, maybe you punt and pin them.

Because that was in the middle of Stafford's horrendous stretch where he was like two or thirteen, the middle of the game.

Speaker 1

So you might have been missing a finger.

We're not sure, but I don't know.

Speaker 6

Did he get it surgically put back on for the final two drives.

I love that everybody's like, oh, the only reason Stafford strugglers goes the fingers bad.

It's like, what did they do do surgery before the last two drives?

Yeah, I don't know what was going on there.

Give the Panthers Decend some credit.

Mike Jackson played his ass off man.

But I'll tell you, we need dudes that can play the pass in the middle of the field.

We need linebackers that can cover, that are more mobile in coverage and the Nick Scott spot.

Nick Scott had a better season than I expected Bone, but I still wonder if we need a better coverage.

Speaker 7

Option in there, you know, because what could seattle speed in the middle of the field that we saw against the Pas a couple weeks ago.

We need some you know, guys that can go sideline the sideline cover the middle.

Linebacker upgrades are paramount almost as equal to me as the edge rushers are.

They need they need to upgrade in both those areas for it, and then then we'll see how averro does if he's the DC, if he doesn't get a coaching job, give him more speed, more in the middle, more edge rushers, and then we'll see how they do as a defense.

Speaker 6

He improved the defense seventeen positions bone from last year because they added personnel and we got Derek Brown batt Let's what could he do if you add some of these other pieces, right?

Could we be top ten, fringe, top ten, something like that.

So I don't know.

I'm just I'm excited and I'm pumped up to I hope people are when we take the calls here.

I hope people.

But if you're pissed about something, that's what we're here for too.

When we come back.

Speaker 7

Paulsa Panther Nation, your call, seven oh four, five, seven oh nine, six ten, get in react.

What are you feeling after the low Sports Radio NFZ.

Speaker 1

It was unbelievable.

Speaker 9

Bank of America Stadium was absolutely electric.

It was incredible to feel the pressure that they had to go through of communicating and playing at the line of scrimmage offensively speaking, you know, and then just the big when we made big plays on the offensive side, and the juice and the momentum that was behind it, you know, and our group, we don't pass judgment on the game early on.

We just keep playing ball and it really helps me.

We have our whole fan base behind us.

And what an amazing special night in that.

Speaker 6

Way, Coach Canalis talking about the environment that place absolutely rocking everybody.

It was a part of it.

Patcha dang self on the back.

Multiple texts have come in of people bone that have no voice today still after screaming their hearts out on Saturday night, and may we just remembered football can be fun.

Kind of forgot that plot along the way, but damn that was a fun night until it wasn't at the very end.

Speaker 7

People want us to attend more games like that, so we lose our voices for Monday's shows.

Speaker 1

I would have loved to have been in.

That would be nice, guys.

Speaker 6

I would start going as fan, our voices, our voices videos and buy us tickets.

So we go there scream and then we can't talk on Monday.

If has old shots.

Speaker 7

Texters are concerned about how weird the relationship is now between Smoke and Fiddy and why other people can't be part of it.

It's odd, It's a little odd.

It's a little odd is flounder, is Chowder jealousness.

I don't know if he's jealous, he's just not a loud because he's not a Panther fan.

And I had to watch the forty nine to go with him.

He was very critical of my team.

But smoke and I'm multiple hugs.

Speaker 5

And let's just say mac me and that wall over there by you we got intimate during the time.

Speaker 1

Football now ends your streak.

Congratulations Tay Wall.

Speaker 7

I'm sorry you don't let us know what wall so we can maybe avoid the wall and.

Speaker 1

Clean it up a little bit, maybe too anyway, all right, let's move on.

Let's move on.

Show focus Panther fans.

Speaker 6

Let's football, so we forget about this weird fitty stuff.

What do you PSL Smith?

I can barely talk.

That means you were doing fandom right the other day?

Speaker 1

Baby?

Speaker 6

Is I believe seventy three thousand or you were?

What do you guys think?

And there's so many conversations to be had, like your feelings after the game, the things in the game that you do think you know cost us and nit picked us, or that you want to nitpick the stuff and the players that made you fired up and excited for the future and prideful, and then there's all the offseason conversations that were about later in the show.

We're about ready to start getting going.

You know, what do we need to do personnel wise?

I've got somebody here saying, can we stop now with the Rico needs to be re signed talk.

I don't want to speak for everybody out there, but I know I'm done with that.

Yeah, you know, and we'll talk about that as the show goes on.

But I don't like the way he finished.

You've already got Cuba on a deal.

Speaker 1

I'm ready to.

Speaker 7

See what Brooks can do off the injuries.

Like they drafted them, they trade it up.

It's time.

It's time.

He's been a great unknown here.

Now we have to see him.

I'm ready for Brooks.

The only question is do you trust him to be your number two?

Do you go out there and add somebody else?

Speaker 1

Yeah?

Speaker 6

Or are you okay with Cuba Brooks n ETN.

That feels a little bit risky, But Brooks is a talent.

But man, that's two acls.

But then again, Thomas Davis is three a CLS.

So I see some running backs come back from some stuff before.

So hopefully.

Speaker 7

I mean, I don't know to me what we have to see eventually what the guy can do?

Speaker 1

All right, what do you guys think?

Speaker 6

Seven oh four, five, seven oh nine, six ten, And do you feel the Avero rage?

It seems like the eight o'clockers aren't as rage full as the six and seven o'clockers were that wanted to pack up a zero Averro and get him out of town immediately for that final drive.

I will point out, Bony, this team made a seventeen spot jump in terms of where they rank in total defense like that that that has to count for something when evaluating the big picture.

But that one very frustrated, I don't blame you, very frustrating approach.

All right, let's go to the phone seven four five, seven nine, six ten.

We want to hear the pulse aparater nation.

How are you feeling after that emotional ride the other night.

Let's go to the phones and let's bring in game cock.

Speaker 1

Kevin.

Who's gonna get us going?

Kevin?

What do you say after all that?

Speaker 3

Man?

Speaker 2

Well, first of all, happy New Years.

So let me tell both of y'all this.

Anybody who's negative about that that effort on Saturday night, either A they're an idiot, B you're a cowboy fan telling us how we should feel, or A scene they're not panther fans for real.

I am so proud of that team.

I am so proud of the effort that we put forward this season.

At the beginning of this season, after the last two years, actually after the last seven years since David templebak team, it has been nothing but turmoil.

We've been a running joke of the league.

And you mean to tell me seeing Bank of America Stadium rockets on a Saturday night, a game that matters all the veterans in the house.

The history of this team is starting to show.

You got that many old guys coming back to bang the drums, do all these things like that.

And these cats disappointed, ain't guys?

We were ten and a half point under all, Yes, we had the game.

That's how the NFL goes, you, millennial idiots, It goes that way.

There's are adjustments that have to be made, and I do not blame a zero of arrows now.

I will say this back on the last drive, I did want to see a little bit more from Bryce.

I'm not gonna lie to you on that, you know what I'm saying, because we had an opportunity to go ahead and run down there and try to do something.

All we need to do is getting field goal range.

So that hurt me a little bit, and that does give me pause on giving him a Dack type contract.

We can't do that yet.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I definitely.

Speaker 10

I'm on that man.

Speaker 2

I love y'all projected game Cocks transfer port.

Speaker 1

I knew he was gonna get that.

They're doing well.

Speaker 7

They should be another offensive tackle proved next year, to say the least, so hopefully carries over in the backle.

Speaker 1

From state tackle from ECU, both starters.

All right.

As far as the Panthers.

Speaker 7

Go, they also got a young They also got a young Penn State, highly touted wide out that was a freshman last year yesterday, someone that didn't play a whole lot, I think, but he was a top one hundred guy.

Speaker 1

I think it was.

Speaker 6

He's the only one that didn't go to Virginia tack.

He's the one they got away from James Franklin apparently.

All right, So the final drive I watched it back last night.

I he was pressured on three of those four and the other one was a horn drop, so it's hard for me to give bright.

Was the drive itself very disappointing.

Yes, I didn't know if we get down there, but I thought we might get a yard Bony.

We got zero yards on those four plays with thirty eight seconds left in all our timeouts.

But what if you watch it back, you'll see press Sure Deelue got beat on one dieman.

There was one from the right side as well, so that was a theme of the game.

Bryce was under pressure way too much forty five percent of the time.

I didn't think it was the old line's best game.

But again, Rob Hunt's first game back.

He's battling through an injury during the game, and then Ikey goes out.

That doesn't help man, So I will give them a little bit.

But I thought that was I thought the offensive line got feasted on.

You know what, bone The Rams weren't blitzing.

They got rushed with four the drive before, we couldn't get any pressure with four.

Speaker 1

That's a big difference.

Speaker 7

How does a dude in Nicky get road graded, He's out for a while with a bloatout knee and still get the penalty on the playoff.

I was crazy, This dude got completely steamplout.

I wasn't holding that was getting planted into the damn ground he's supposed to do.

He's on the ground around.

Let's go back to the phones.

Panther fans, how do you feel after the other night?

What still bothers you?

And do you agree that there's got to be pride and energy in your Panther fandom today as well?

All right, let's go back to the phones.

Will wants to get in here.

What's up?

Speaker 1

Will?

Speaker 3

Wow?

Speaker 2

What's going on?

Speaker 3

Mag and Bone get to talk to you again.

I am shocked that there is anything besides the gratefulness to a Varro for what he did this season.

I was talking to somebody this weekend and they were wondering about that soft coverage on that last drive, and he was like, basically, how does something like that happen?

And it's like that happens because you have a defense basically full of special teams players and overproducing rookies.

And that's why the special teams wasn't great this year.

Speaker 1

They were all playing defense, and.

Speaker 3

So you're not gonna get guys who can man up on the on.

Speaker 2

The l a rams.

Speaker 3

You basically have to to play twelve yards off and see if they can make a mistake in one of the You know, they're gonna drive down regardless.

It's either they're gonna go over the top of you or they're gonna get you drinking and joinking down the field.

Speaker 2

And that's what they ended up doing.

The whatever.

Speaker 3

You know, for the offense, they're gonna be good next year.

Ideally they're gonna need to probably replace some of the offensive line.

It's time to have the XL conversation, the XL conversation.

Now it's Trump, He's probably on the Jonathan Mingo plan.

I'm the Trader Will and Excel is my trade guy.

I blame Jerry Jorn drops.

I blame that Jimmy Horn drop on XL honestly, because if you give XL all the ret that Jimmy Horn needs, Jimmy Horton makes that catch after XCEL drop while.

Speaker 1

That drop in XL camp.

This is Trader Wills.

This is Trader Wills, super Bowl right, Trader Wills.

Ready, baby, it's off season.

Time send those text in all season, entire roster.

I'm gone by the time we get to the Excel for Greenland, who says no.

Speaker 6

There are so much texts about Excel and yes didn't will he text that out last year?

It's time to out the XL conversation.

We all got mad at him.

Willy send that out now, Bro, you want that?

Won't be a soul man at you right now?

Yeah, I'm very disappointed.

Speaker 1

Man.

Speaker 6

I don't want to call the guy a completed total bust after two years, but I just I feel like if they go in counting on him to be one of our top three wide receivers, I think we are making a mistake.

Speaker 1

Oh yeah, you know what I mean.

Speaker 6

I think you have to give somebody that is at a more trustworthy level of that, whether you'll go get an early draft pick or whether you go get a free agent somebody at wide receiver that you can count on and effects.

And I also do wonder about trading XL.

I mean I joke about Colin Jerry Jones, you got a fourth for Mingo?

Is there anything any market for Xcel?

Would you trade him?

Speaker 11

Bone?

Speaker 1

I would certainly?

Speaker 7

Yeah, Yeah, called Jerry Jones up and see, hey, remember you got Mingo?

Speaker 1

We got another one for you here.

Speaker 7

Faith to say, he's a game cog And I love them coming out.

I love the personality.

And I thought he would be a major fan favorite.

But to be a fan favorite, you have to perform and then the personality stuff comes second.

So I I just don't have much faith Bac and what we're going to see from him.

Thank goodness, thank the football gods that in one draft the first rounder hasn't worked out, but an undrafted guy and Cocker's worked out.

It's a weird thing, but Cocher does make up for it.

It's a weird way, but it's not ideal.

But thank god for Cocher and Dan Morgan hit on that.

Speaker 6

Guy, you can feel like, Okay, maybe maybe he's worth the first round type thing.

Speaker 1

Let's go to h J.

Who's up next?

H Shaye?

How you feeling all right?

Speaker 2

Fellas?

Speaker 11

It's it's been a minute to talk about.

I'm actually feeling good about the outcome because I didn't honestly, I didn't expect us to compete with the Rams in second go around, but just looking forward, I really called in to just say hey to just saying a stop se Verri Plander, if you and we'll sold a lot on my thunder.

If you look at what he did with the personnel, we were so far behind.

We just lacked a lot of talent, and we still do.

And I think we got to get an edge.

We gotta have some to see able to get pressure on the quarterback.

What I saw and the reason that I assume that they probably went to that that soft coverage or that zone coverage was because he couldn't get pressure with with lenses.

And if I'm not mistaken on that last.

Speaker 6

Play, Horn was out right the whole last drive.

Horn, Yeah, yeah, the whole last drive you wish have.

Speaker 11

So I think if Barryrol needs to get some grades, I think, you know, he did do a lot and to turn around the defense in a short period of time, and I still think, you know, we still need some talent secondary.

Nick Scott struggled and I think that's probably an opportunity for some improvement there.

But real quick, on the offensive side of the ball, we got to get a playmaker.

We need another playmaker.

We can't be on t Max Cookers and Silent too ex I pretty much put him to the side.

I don't really expect him to be to be in this on the team in the future, but we need another playmaker to help right and maybe a tight end that can you know, make some places as well.

I think that would help them running gain.

Speaker 7

I need help in the middle of the field on both sides, any coverage linebackers on defense thanks to the call, and they need someone in the middle of the field on offense that can be a safety net for Bryce at the tight end spot.

So I think winning in the middle of the field on both sides is gonna go a long way this offseason.

Yeah, offend, defending the other team in the middle and having someone there you're I'm not saying anyone's gonna be Greg Olsen, but that security blanket, that guy you trust when when you get the pressure will dump down whatever.

They need a tight end there.

Speaker 6

I yeah, I'm torn on the whole tight end thing.

In the past, I've kind of set upgraded.

But if you're gonna have to upgrade wide receiver, you're gonna have to upgrade linebacker, safety edge.

You can't do everything.

So I wonder if this tight end group we can let them keep growing together.

Speaker 7

Were at Colson Lovelin's doing for Caleb Williams right now?

Speaker 1

Oh, I don't.

Speaker 6

Dispute it with hell, but if you got to you had, it's picking your spots, right, You can't add everything.

You can't add a superstar at every position.

So those are the conversations we have to have right now.

I feel like wide receiver, I'd rather add over tight.

But to your point, maybe you end up getting both.

But now with the Icky injury, do we need to tackles diamonds?

I would think Nyman's gone, So I think you at the very least need to add a new swing tackle that's better than Nyman, and that can start if he's not ready for the beginning of the season.

Speaker 7

We make a whist for Dan Morgan and send it to him.

Yeah, do you need any clothes for the summer?

Speaker 1

For the winner?

You need a new hoodie.

Speaker 6

He's a panther socks to go in my panther shoes.

Dano, All right, let me get one more call in here before before we get back to UH to UH four to quick Little break.

PSL.

Sucker is in the house.

PSL Sucker.

Speaker 1

How you feel, man, I'm mainly grateful, no doubt about it.

Speaker 10

It was fantastic, great experience.

Still, though, you have to be rational, and the truth is Mac, I know Averro's talent is thinned, but a lot of those guys it has to be said are his guys Rose Boom Scott.

They are people he brought in.

And the thing that drives me nuts about him is he's so stubborn.

He knows he doesn't have the person, and yet he still insists on running that scheme.

So I personally think Willy's writing at you oman apology, but will agree to disagree.

Speaker 6

Let me tell you right now, I could Willie an apology.

I don't know if I'm a big enough man to do that, you know what I mean, I'm not.

I'm not a big man in any sense that takes.

You gotta be like King Kong Bundy size man bone to be able the way we go at it with Willy, to be able to tell Willy I'm sorry.

That's like, oh God, that'll be tough.

But I don't think I have to, Boney.

I don't think I have to because the defense has improved and in common sense, says, if he doesn't get a head coaching job.

And that's what we'll talk about in the final hour is Daldo could be gone, a Varro could be gone, bunch of o' lineman's contractual.

We'll start to get into that whole thing.

But I'm excited to see what a Vara can do if you do keep improving his defense.

And you say a lot of those guys are his guys.

They're very cheap options.

Nick Scott didn't cost much money.

No, no, no, Rose Boom didn't cost much money.

It was kind of dollar store shopping and a Varo kind of I'm sure said, hey, I can plug him into this scheme.

Speaker 1

He can be and ski.

You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 6

It wasn't big purchases of a Varro guys, so y up up in that talent level.

Speaker 7

King Kong Bundy, God rest his soul back.

He had two great nicknames.

First of all, King Kong Bundy itself is a great name.

Also, he was called the walk Them, to walk them, the walking Condominium.

Speaker 1

That's a hell of a name.

Speaker 6

How is no offensive tackle known as the walking condominium?

Speaker 1

Yet?

Speaker 7

I have no idea.

When we come back, Sounds of the Panthers a canalist post lost speech.

He talks about fourth down gambles as well, and Mike Jack defends a Varro Sports Radio ninety seven w FNZ.

Speaker 1

Uh Yeah, I think it was.

Speaker 12

It was fun to be a part of us, just coming into our own you know, obviously we we we had some ups and downs, and uh, I'm I'm so proud of the way that we everyone responded to adversity, whatever it may be.

You know, the way that we fought, the way that we always uh you know, stuck together, you know, the way that we were always onto the onto the next and again super special special locker room.

Speaker 1

It's a it's a tough one.

Speaker 6

Here you go, Bryce Young talking about making progress, making progress, making copies?

What is that from Sarah Rob Schneider in the office, right office guy whatever.

I just realized that when I said making progress, it sounded like that for some reason.

I don't know why, but yes, maybe it's happening.

Dave Canalis has quadrupled the wins in two years, got us in the playoffs, had us right there.

And I'm not saying he was perfect the other night, Bone, I'm not saying that aren't things that you can can nitpick the other night play calls.

Both of those fourth downs, not only were they fourth down gambles, Bone, where it's like, I get that that's the way we've done it, they were straight dropback passes, which I didn't love.

I usually I would have liked to run the first one or maybe bootleg one of them.

Speaker 1

But then again, I say this.

Speaker 6

Bone, how did they have the two fourth down touchdowns against the Rams straight drop back passes?

Yeah, so I don't know.

Maybe I'm acting like I know more than I do, but we.

Speaker 7

Made one more PSA because the eight o'clock Crowdmack has woken up confused.

We need to announce again that was not Excel riding dollar bill to the stadium.

David Nwan trying to make a joke tweet it went viral.

We need to keep reminding people because I had to keep telling people.

Someone just said, Mack, how's XL gonna do nothing during the game and ride his horse to the game.

It wasn't him, man, it was not Excel on the horse.

I will say this I heard something earlier today.

You would be surprised, uh the people and their knowledge of the Panthers who were fooled by that tweet and thought XL showed up in a horse like that.

Speaker 1

Like I was kind of like, how did you believe that?

Speaker 6

But I had the benefit of seeing those guys that like walk go past the doghouse on their horses, so I knew it wasn't them.

There were a lot of people that thought XL really did that and went out laid egg into playoffs.

But it was not him.

It was not him, And that was David Newton being David Newton.

David Newton kiss start a mess?

Can he?

He don't even know he's doing it?

Bone half the time?

I blessed the man.

Dude started the fire.

All right, anyway, let's see it.

People still are wondering, are we sure it was a joke?

All right, let's get to more sounds of the Panthers uh post playoff game addition, so we've had a lot to say about the fourth down gambles when they don't work.

Obviously, they're easy targets, Boone, and you gave them short field to the Panthers.

Credit Mike Jack got the interception right after the second one, but the first one led to the opening touchdown it did.

This was Dave Canalis explaining why he went for it middle of the field on both those fourth downs.

Speaker 9

Yeah, just that's that's been our mo.

You know, we take opportunities and we've cashed in on those.

I have confidence in our defense.

Our defense played them well enough, especially you know after that last fourth down fail, not the very last one, but the one before we were covering them, well, we were rushing them.

Mike Jack makes a huge play right there, and so you know, I just kind of thought about, you know, what has gotten us to this point.

It's been these opportunities to be aggressive and to put the ball in Bryce's hands, in the guy's hands and ask them to execute.

Speaker 6

So there you go, man again, it might be one of these things.

Again, I would have preferred a boot or a run, but I saw him.

I saw them drop back pass on fourth down against the Rams twice and hit paydirt.

So it's one of those things.

It's like, it's kind of like Dan Campbell.

Man, like Dan Campbell last year in the playoffs, year before that in the playoffs.

That's the way he plays, and more often than not he's been you know, in the past, he's been successful with it, and more often than not this year, Dave Canalis has been successful.

I will say, though it feels like the fourth down success rate did drop late in the season.

You know, I don't know if they need to draw up more ball plays for the fourth down or if it's just as simple as the running game not being the same.

Speaker 7

I saw a Super Bowl winning coach yesterday, I thought, mess up the end of the game, and that's Nick Sirianni for the Eagles and the Niners Mac They're at fourth and eleven.

It's an example of even experienced coaches of big games can mess things up.

Mckett was fourth and eleven with forty seconds to go.

The Niners needed eleven yards.

The play clock was winding down.

Instead of just taking the five yards and making it fourth and sixteen, you needed a big chump play anyway.

They had three timeouts remaining still they took a time out there, so when they didn't get fourth and eleven, it ended the game because they used the timeout.

They could have still got the ball back because they had three timeouts despite it being forty seconds.

They messed that up.

So I've seen coaches with experience met stuff up too, way more experience in big games of Dave Canos, I.

Speaker 1

Found it interesting.

Speaker 6

You know who was saying on TV that they should call time out?

Speaker 1

Tom Brady?

Yeah, Tom Brady, you do not realize that they can't.

They to go.

Speaker 7

They have three timeouts.

It's gonna be tough, but they can still do it.

Not two timeouts.

Yeah, Tom Brady.

Tom Brady messed that one up, man.

Speaker 6

I will say Brady has gotten much better this year as a brocketeer than Tony Romo.

Tony Romo sounds like they put a fan in the booth and he's just on there freaking out over stuff like a fan, would you know, and not just any old fan, a fan that's probably had about six IPAs before that he got on air.

Speaker 1

Listen to how he sounds like.

Speaker 7

Listen how quickly Olsen and Brady and Collinsworth and Akeman, whatever you think of some of those guys as broadcaster.

I know College Worth gets a lot of flack from people, which I don't understand.

I love College Worth.

Think about watch those games, watch Akman tonight, and how quickly they dissect plays that are going on immediately.

And then listen to Romo, who never knows Mac what's calling.

He he'll ask.

Speaker 1

Jim what was that Jim?

Because don't know Jim.

Speaker 6

He never dissects the plays because they are in analytical mindset.

He is an emotional he That's why I say it's like a fan.

He is reacting.

He's also confused like a fan, like he's always bewildered by stuff.

It's like, but these other guys man, and Brady has gotten better.

He still know Greg ey, oh, but he has definitely gotten better.

Speaker 1

All right, let's continue.

We got to get some Someone was.

Speaker 7

Met at Olston in the text Wine for not being a panther Homer during the broadcast.

Speaker 6

Will He said, people were texted, we're on Twitter saying that, like people thought it was a bias.

What do you expect he's gonna do for the Rams though, right?

Yes, bias for the Rams?

Yes, So I don't know.

I just thought I listened back to it, I watched it yesterday.

Speaker 1

That's great.

Speaker 6

I mean, I just thought it was Greg being Greg.

I have to be honest.

Every time people think a broadcaster is biased against your team, I don't think he is.

Speaker 1

I think we're biased.

Speaker 6

Yeah, so we want so if something is critical of our team, we don't like it and we think it's biased.

I will say Jonathan Vilma is the one exception to that role.

Speaker 7

Now, now I'm not some Greg Olsen, you know Homer here that just love everything Greg Olds.

Speaker 6

Oh you pretty much are they Let's get a couple more sounds.

A couple more sounds in the weekend, Let's get to Dave Canalis and his speech, Bony.

We've never heard a speech after a loss before, but it was a hell of an effort, a hell of a fight, and this is how it sounded in the locker room afterwards from coach.

Speaker 13

Guys, this is proved positive right here.

Speaker 3

It's about belief.

Speaker 13

It's about believing in what.

Speaker 9

We have right here.

Speaker 13

Okay, regardless of what happened in the course of the game early on or whatever, we just kept battling because that's who we are, that's our identity.

Speaker 5

Okay.

Speaker 13

Now, we know we got some places that we would love to have back, but listen to me, man, this season was about straight up grit and belief and play it together.

You guys talk about family.

You break down on family all the time.

This is what family looks like.

You just keep battle in the whole way.

I'm so proud to be a part of this group.

Speaker 10

Guys.

Speaker 1

I'm sick that it's over.

Speaker 3

I'm sick we can't go do it one more week.

Speaker 13

That's that's all it is for me.

I just want to get back to one more Monday, one more Wednesday, and get on the grass with you guys.

How fun was this last week playing for everything right in front of us.

Speaker 3

Guys.

Speaker 1

We don't ever have to feel this again.

Speaker 3

We don't ever have.

Speaker 1

To leave it up to other people.

Speaker 13

We're gonna have to put it into other people's hands if we handle our business.

Guys, this is an amazing opportunity for us.

Speaker 12

I'm sick we.

Speaker 13

Didn't get it done, but I'm proud of hell to be your coach.

I'm proud of what we accomplished together.

Speaker 6

So there you go, good attitude.

I think we share a lot of those emotions.

I think I heard a whole we sure Xail really didn't ride a horse?

I think I heard a na in the background.

Did possible?

Dollar Bill was back there?

What if Donard Bill was in the.

Speaker 1

What if Bill got a car?

Speaker 8

Al right?

Speaker 7

Anyway, Dollar Bill just dropped some money ground.

Speaker 1

I'm kidding.

Speaker 6

There was no nay there.

There was somebody clean up.

Dalla Bill's over there, Xcel get on that all right?

Speaker 7

Uh?

Speaker 1

All right?

Speaker 6

One more clip here?

Derek Brown who said, who said, uh, let me start that over?

Speaker 1

Take two?

I don't know what I do.

Speaker 6

I couldn't speak there, XL Bone or Derek the Hell's wrong with me?

Speaker 1

Right?

Now?

Come on Mac Mac myself in the head.

All right, let me give my own neck.

Stop oone neck?

Speaker 6

All right, this is are you all right?

I just keep smack yourself hard on.

I keep messing up, keep messing up.

Derek Brown was asked about people underestimating him with the Pro Bowl snuff and people underestimating this team, and uh, here's what he said.

Speaker 8

The personal aspect of it.

Yeah, you want personal award, but you know, I think it's so many people that you know, just trash on this team and this organization that you know, being able to make the playoffs was the greatest award for me in this season.

You know, we want to bring playoff football back here.

Speaker 7

Uh.

Speaker 8

And you know in that in that, you know, people say, man, you have to leave here, leave this organization and be able to ever go you know, win.

So I mean just to be able to you know, stop those people in the face.

That is what it is for me.

My player is always gonna be what it is if you if you don't respect it, and then I know you better respect it come Sunday.

So you know, I don't take anything to that.

I mean, yeah, it pisses me off, but uh, you know somebody's got to get it on Sunday.

Speaker 6

Oh god hand a pretty damn good game, man.

Four stops in the run game, five pressure scored the PFF, pretty damn active.

Speaker 1

I just want to see him in the Pro Bowl games.

Just will they do.

Speaker 7

An event where you could just throw like running backs running the running back toss.

Speaker 1

You would excel in that.

Speaker 7

By the way, Eric Brown is up now he's going to throw Camara h see how far he can go.

Speaker 6

He went three miles in the air bone.

Couple of things.

One is I think I may have hurt myself.

Is there do we have a blue tent I can go into and see if I'm out?

You really smack yourself on?

And number two, there is a movement on the text line of people that did not like Greg Olsen and did not like like what he said about the Panthers on.

Speaker 7

It's one of those sas with that, I think that.

Speaker 6

They're not understanding that he's got to be neutral.

Maybe on that expecting a homer and they didn't get one.

Yeah, I don't know what they expect.

It's weird to me, man.

He's also done like four Panther games this year now, and why now?

Why Saturday's game.

Why does Saturday's game bother people?

I don't know, but I'm going to go ahead and cust these people out.

Okay, yeah, I'm not a Greg Homer though.

Speaker 7

Go ahead, when we come back all the other non Panther crap NFL.

That sounds great here, NFL playoff drama.
