Episode Transcript
Yeah, man, it was.
It was such a wholesome moment.
Even the ruin riot, having people outside blocks and blocks and blocks because you showed up as a different obviously came to player, but now the personality that's doing the show in front of the fans, like you gave them another part of you.
Speaker 2And then I just want to say thank you also to.
Speaker 1Luke, tdj j Stu, Job, Joe Webb.
Man.
Those guys pulled up man, And it's always important to kind of share the stories that it reminds people of how your relationship was curated.
And it's sad, but a lot of our curated, you know, relationships came not just through the smiles and the last but also through the tears and the disappointments and the fact that you know, from me, TD, Luke, Jase, Stu, Joe Webb and those guys and just sharing them with the fans was such a beautiful moment that I cherished for the rest of my life.
Speaker 2There you go.
Speaker 3That's more from Cam and this week stake It Boned Sing.
Cam had plenty to say about his appreciation and the love he felt bone being back here there.
Speaker 2You heard him give a little bit to the roaring riot.
Speaker 3You know, for having having a show out there with the crowd and they were doing you know, fan questions.
It was it was a hell of It was a hell of a weekend for Panther Nation.
And that includes guys like Cam and guys like stew and just everybody that was involved in the whole weekend and certainly Panther fans getting to see, you know, be a part of that atmosphere again and that excitement feels right.
Speaker 4It just it feels right to have Cam as part of stuff.
Not it does not infighting within the organism that whatever was going on, but it just feels right to see Cam celebrated and for him to celebrate this.
Speaker 3Yeah, that's a good way to put it.
All is right with the Panther world now.
The Cam is back in the fold, by the way, if you're just joining us.
Hornets went off last night again offensively, one thirty five, one seventeen winners over the Lakers.
It was a glorious game.
It was so much fun.
LaMelo twenty seven and the second half.
We will talk all about it coming up at seven twenty five, so stay tuned for that.
But I do know some people are waking up, don't know the score, or some people might have stayed up late and they want to hear us talk about so I want I want you to know.
Coming up at seven to twenty five, we'll talk more about that game that was.
Speaker 2That was a fun one, the Clipper one.
The Clipper one.
Speaker 3They weren't like baddn't necessarily, but Hardin and Leonard got it.
It was kind of like, eh, but this game.
Speaker 4Man feels high any any given night against anybody, they could turn it up.
Speaker 2They get a to that level.
Speaker 4Who was your guy back back in the eighties that ran the up and down style with Alex Inglick was a Dug Hoe of the Nuggets, Hugo the country of the Nuggets back in the eighties.
Speaker 3The way you think his name is Doug Oh No, and it's former North Carolina.
Speaker 2Sorry, he'll Doug Mo, Doug Moll.
I'm sorry, I thought just cut.
Speaker 3There's there's no way I'm believing he thought my man's name was Doug oh But anyway, don't google it.
Doug O just got called out for his involvement in a plink shaving scandal at UNC back in the day.
Speaker 2By B Buck.
Speaker 4Can we can we can we really say what Fiddy just asked us during the break, which is my favorite tradition on Friday around seven am.
Fiddy's a conversationalist.
Fiddy likes to know what we're up to, how we're doing.
Fiddy likes to get to scoop on our wives.
And every Friday, Fitty asked you and I, Hey, boys, what you doing this weekend?
What are the plans?
And you and I have nothing to reply.
Speaker 3It's the saddest room to talk about weekend plans because all we're all doing is sitting on the couch watching sports.
It's like one of these days someone's gonna have a plan of something exciting.
Speaker 4All I had was I'm gonna catch up on the Traders from last night.
I've got two Hornets pregame shows in the NFL playoffs, among others.
Speaker 3Holy crowd, that's exciting.
But everybody has to act like that's excited.
Everybody's got to supporting tonight.
It might get me a pizza tonight.
Speaker 5It just empowers me that I know that I can as a twenty nine year old adult, because I get criticized by my family because you don't go out and do anything well.
The guys that I work with.
You know what they did on the weekends.
They sit at home and they watch telephones.
We're professionals, all right.
If we wanted a life, we could have a great one out there.
We could be out and about.
We're professional.
Speaker 4Yeah, mascot, mascot, a family and kids, and I have Mabel, Mabel.
Speaker 2Come on, man, I've got a flounder.
What are you?
What are you doing this weekend?
Vinnie?
Let's same thing tonight, Kansas Baylor at eight.
All right, anyway, this is sad.
This is sad.
Speaker 3All right, let's talk about this cam thing bone because we were just discussing how awesome it just have him back in the fold here.
So a lot of people were asking on Twitter this week, what's next?
Speaker 2What's next?
Hall of Honor?
Speaker 3Is the baseline, like now the cam is back, and the Panthers and the relationships.
Speaker 2Good.
Speaker 3I saw all the pictures of him and his family and all his kids with the with the tempers like this is this is It's back.
He's back, the relationships back.
So Hall of Honor, there's no doubt in my mind that's happening.
But the interesting part is, how do you go further than that?
Do you go to the some people are saying retire number one.
There's only one retired jersey number in Carolina.
It's Sam Mills.
That's the only one.
So do you make Cam number two?
And then you have a statue conversation?
Do you put a Cam statue out there?
So like, I'm curious what y'all think about it and what everybody out there listening thinks about it, Like how far do you go in these three different levels of honoring Cam bone Man?
Speaker 4Definitely I would retire a Hall of honor is no doubt.
Definitely retire the jersey with the question in my mind because he's the only player to win an MVP Award for this franchise, and he symbolizes among other guys as well, but he symbolizes so much attention and he brought the franchise to New Heights in his MVP seasons.
I think jersey retirement for sure for Camp.
The statue part of that, I think I'd have more debate on that, But I'm not even debating the jersey retirement part of this.
Speaker 3What do you think fitdi?
How far do you go in terms of those three honors?
Speaker 2For Camp, I think he deserves all three of them.
Mac.
Speaker 5I think he should be in the Wall of Honor.
His name should be, you know, up there on the on the stadium.
I think the jersey should be officially retired because no one's worn one since he since he left, right, it's someone of those unofficial numbers that they haven't given out, but you would like to see it officially retired.
And I think there needs to be a statue of him doing the Superman's celebration at one of the entries into the stadium.
Is he the best played everywhere that Panther uniform?
That answers that answers know, I think, you know, Luke, Smitty, Peppers are all, we're all better players.
But he's the most recognizable player in Panther history.
He's the most recognizable athlete from this state, probably outside of Dale Earnhardt.
Speaker 2Like when you when you.
Speaker 5Think about the North Carolina Professional Sports about Rushmore, Cam's on that he's on that short list because of what he did with the dab and the celebration and doing what he did for this organization.
And so how do you think his career is statue worthy?
Speaker 3Here's the thing for me that's that's interesting.
Here is I kind of like Sam Mills being the only retired number, because Cam is unbelievable.
I've said he's the most important Panther because of the position he met, he played, and because of what you just said, FITTI.
He made us relevant.
Ron Rivera kept talking all the time about being relevant.
Cam Newton is mister relevant.
You can't ignore that man.
You still can't.
The country still can't ignore that man if they try, right, So, like he brought this attention and focus and prestige to Charlotte that no other athlete has been able to do, like Fitty was talking about.
But I kind of like the fact that Sam Mills is in his own category there because we don't have another Sam Mills.
We don't have another man bone that has created the mantra for a franchise that will exist for eternity.
You know, a man that you know and then you throw in the way we lost him, you know, with that twenty two thousand and three team and the impact he had on that team and the impact he has moving forward, and the example that he is for every Panther, every Panther coach from here until the end of civilization can point to Sam Mills and the way he kept fighting through cancer, track coach that football team, right, and the way the little dude played the game.
Speaker 2So am I what do you think?
Speaker 3Like, I kind of almost want to stay a party of one on retired numbers.
Speaker 4No, I mean, I understand what you're saying, but I still because of the reasons that Fiddy said, I don't know if I would go statue, but definitely for the reasons that Fiddy brought up there in terms of recognizability, I would.
I would retire Cam's jersey back.
There was actually two statues.
There are Sam Mills and there's one that is somewhere buried or what is hoofs hanging out there?
Speaker 3Now, there's Mike McCormick.
Two right, there's Mike McCormick.
They have not had to bury yeah, right here, Jerry, they had to hide somewhere.
You're right in the shit somewhere that is there's one retired number.
There's two statues right, other than the Panthers themselves.
Yeah, the Panthers statues.
It's Mills and McCormick.
I don't know, what do you guys think.
I also like to stay.
I like to to We got in this argument before when y'all were trying to give more Hall of honors than I was.
I like to keep these things very exclusive.
Like do you wait this dude says, I don't give out a statue until somebody is the star of a Super Bowl winning team.
Speaker 2Like that's the thing.
Speaker 3Like I'll use Baltimore for example, because it's another city I'm familiar with.
They have two statues outside the football stadium.
Johnny Unidas won a championship, ray Lewis won championships.
So, like, I do understand what that text is saying.
I have always said Thomas Davis for a statue because he also epitomizes Keith Pounding with the three ACL tears.
Speaker 2But I don't know.
Am I overdoing it saying.
Speaker 3A statue for Thomas Davis because toe y'all's point, he was great, but he wasn't Cam.
Speaker 2So yeah, but I try to.
Speaker 3I like to stay exclusive with these things, So I understand that point about the statues.
Speaker 4Thomas Davis is the Sam Mills of his generation, the ad the never give up montra.
I would hope though, if Cam did get a statue, it's better than the Allen Iverson one that he got in Philadelphia.
Speaker 3Remember the girl's wall.
That a little two footer.
Where's my statue at?
Oh it's right there.
Well, I couldn't see it was so small.
Speaker 4What do you think about retiring number forty four of the Carolina Panthers.
Speaker 2Oh yeah, JJ's getting a lot of hype.
Speaker 3Now, but aasually have statues retired number, they don't.
Speaker 4Have to worry about retiring forty four.
He'll never give it up.
Speaker 2He'll play forever, he'll outlive us all.
Speaker 5Mac There's something to be said about wanting to, you know, reserve the statues for for champions.
But I mean, like we can acknowledge.
I mean, they've been to two Super Bowls in their in their young history.
They've they've yet to they've yet to win one.
Speaker 2Like it's it's not like if this was.
Speaker 5New England, Dallas, Pittsburgh, Green Bay, a champion driven town.
I could I could understand that, but that's not what the Panthers are not yet Bryce Shung's gonna put us in that category.
Speaker 3We have to do all these things or so some of these things last.
Speaker 5If if you want to go that route, then are you gonna be able to maybe honor your your greatest players right now that answer is no code.
Speaker 2You don't have Super Bowls, but you have the Hall of Honor.
That's what that's for.
Speaker 3Do we just use that for now and chill on the number of retirements and the statues.
Speaker 5Like, to me, there's not a limit from Cam because I think he should be in Canton.
Speaker 2Like I think he's a Hall of Famer.
That's a whole another subject.
Speaker 5So like for me, like I'm comfortable doing all of these things because I think he had a Hall of Fame worthy.
Speaker 2Man like Cam.
For a guy that in his don't start, don't start, don't start.
Speaker 3Boat Finny, stop rooting for the Panthers and start hating them in the middle of Cam's best season.
Speaker 2You just cannot help yourself.
Speaker 4By the way, to show you how rare statues are, mac, here's the list.
Here's the list from a couple of years ago of statues around the league.
Pat Tillman in Arizona, Tom Landry and Dallas, Lamar Hunt at Arrowhead, Bombardi and Lambeau at Lambeau, Art Rooney Senior Pittsburgh, Dan Marino Miami, Don Shulam, United Is, ray Lewis, Peyton Manning, and then of course a big Cat here.
Speaker 3So that's what I'm saying.
I don't think Cam makes that.
There's not a lot of players now.
Now to Fitty's point, we don't have the history of those, but do we wait until we have that sort of figure.
This texture says somebody from Cam and Ron and Luke's era needs a statue, and I would say Cam is probably the one that deserves it the most.
That's an interesting way of looking at it.
It is the I call it the Golden Era Panther football.
And I realized someone's getting ready to text us that it's sad Mac that in the Golden Ara Panther football they still didn't have back to back winning seasons.
One of the three years restraight divisions, and they went to the playoffs four out of five years.
Now, during that stretch, we did lose a diehard fan named Fitty Marlow to the Cowboys.
Speaker 2You're such an ass.
Speaker 3I'm sorry, I really and he can't help myself ever made a Cam fumble joke in the Super Bowl.
Speaker 2Is there a tweet out there?
Man's tweets.
Speaker 3We're gonna go back in time?
All right, let's see what everybody else is saying.
I mean, it's an interesting discussion, and there's no right answer.
Everybody would do it a different way if they were in charge.
Speaker 5You know, oil lettuce the statue of me with a thong riding one of the panthers at the east gate entrance of the stadium.
Speaker 3Baby who says everybody with eyeballs, Oh my god, that is hilarious.
Speaker 2Holy crap.
Speaker 5No, this guy brings up if if you if you're doing the Super Bowl thing, does that mean Nick Foles deserves a statue?
Well, he has one because they have the Philly Special immortalized outside of Lincoln Financial uh or outside their stadium.
Speaker 2Right, don't they have a statue of that?
I don't, I don't.
I have to look it up.
Speaker 3I don't know nick foles statue.
Does it feature a big anyway?
All right, I'm just gonna move on.
Speaker 5I don't know that about Nick Foles anyway?
Speaker 2His nickname Nick Foles?
Is that a thing?
Speaker 3Nick Fole statue, Bron's statue.
It looks like there's something.
Speaker 2All right, I have to do.
Speaker 3This is not exciting on the air, me searching Philadelphia statues.
Speaker 2How about when we come back we recap an amazing night.
Speaker 3It is something.
There's a sculpture there somewhere in Philly.
So anyway, I don't know, man, I sorry, Bony, sorry, let me just put it.
Let me just put a rap on this real quick.
He got a text there too.
I think, I don't know.
I think it's a fun discussion.
It's a fun discussion.
But I am a little more like choosy when it comes to retiring numbers.
I say, we put all the greats in there, and I say we'll know it, we'll know when we see it.
Speaker 2And I just you know what I mean.
Speaker 3As great as Camp is, and I'm not buying I love Camp, I'm not buying Phitty's Hall of Fame for Camp thing.
Speaker 4I'm not either.
He does have enough Hall of Fame seasons.
I don't think he got some great ones.
I've he's an MVP, but it's not it's not a lengthy hall.
If we're gonna question Keickley's Hall of Fame resume, and he had all Hall of Fame seasons, Cam doesn't have anywhere near the amount of great years.
Speaker 3How many years was Cam truly one of the top five quarterbacks in the game, certainly the MVP year, But yeah, that's the was he like was he seventh in good years, eighth in some of the other good years he had, and then the injuries unfortunately play a role too.
All Right, anyway, We're good?
Speaker 2Are you good?
Yeare be cool?
Now?
I think when we.
Speaker 4Come back, we recap an amazing night in LA for the Hornets and ask are we sure we want to break up this?
Core Sports Radio ninety two seven w FNZ.
Speaker 6So many things impressed me, but I guess one of the biggest things is, you know, coming on the road, playing a team with that caliber of talent, that level of talent, and being able to sustain our effort, our competitiveness even during some of their runs.
Speaker 2You know, Dontritch hit.
Speaker 6A couple step back threes, they get out on the break and get a couple buckets, or we turned it over.
But I thought the groups continued to stick to the game plan, continue to rally around one another, and offensively, I thought we did a great job of trying to put Don in as many actions as we possibly could.
Speaker 3That is Charles Lee last night talking about what he liked about the win over the Lakers.
If you stayed up late, you're probably tired like we are, but you might be thinking it was worth it because it really was a hell of a show put on by so many different members of the Hornets, And I don't want to act like Luca wasn't putting on a show either, Bode.
He started with nineteen in the first the Laker League got the thirteen, and I was like, don't do this.
Like they have been so competitive lately, and they've had such great moments lately, the OKC win, the Utah win.
It's like, don't let Lebron and it's painted a rear end Luca run you out of their building.
I thought Bridges kind of kept them in at bone with his first quarter, and then they got back into it in the second quarter.
The third quarter seventy eight combined points the Hornets put up forty.
The third quarter I thought was like amazing television.
And that's where LaMelo ball went the heck off.
He could not miss from three.
He had three points in the first half, twenty seven in the second.
The Hornets win one thirty five, one seventeen over the Lakers.
Feels good beating Lebron and Luca Boney.
Speaker 4The box score is a beautiful portrait of what this team can be when they're healthy and they're on, they're not on all the time.
Well, we've seen in some of their biggest road games lately, whether that's OKC against the defending champions that win by twenty seven, they go to LA and they beat the Lakers with a box score that we can go through that is off the charts, top the bottom offensively.
But those are reasons right there of why they're getting so much attention from the Zach Lolowes, the Sam Vassinis, the Bill Simmons because in the biggest spots they played in again to the defendie champs against the Wakers, they have showed out and showed you what they can be when they're all there and they're all clicking at the same time.
Yeah, it's really wonder that their leak past darlings when they're playing like that.
Speaker 2It's amazing.
Speaker 3What we said after OKC, it's amazing what happens when you get these guys all healthy.
I mean, Trey Man and Salon can't even crack the rotation.
This is a healthy Hornets team.
They got Sexton back last night and Kalkbrenner's been back.
So this team, certainly you said it, what they're capable of.
Their A game is pretty beautiful, like it really now, listen, their a game is a lot of threes being made, it's a lot of assists, it's a lot of sharing of the ball among these you know, big four guys that we got Con had nineteen and then the other three all in the twenty point range.
Speaker 2We didn't say anything about Brandon.
Speaker 3Brandon Miller was unfreaking believable too for this team Bone with twenty six points last night as well.
It's a fun damn team.
Man, it really is a fun team when they get it rolling like this and.
Speaker 4They're fun in Charles Lee's system, which wants to be a lot of threes in ball movies.
And now he's got the pieces to play effectively the way that he wants to play.
It's one thing that all the guys are sitting there and they're trying to jack up all these threes with guys that aren't as good as these guys.
But now he's got the parts in there to play the system that he wants to play.
Speaker 3Yeah, do you think it works a little better with these guys and not Damien Ball running it?
Speaker 2It's up?
Speaker 3Yes, Apologies at Damien Ball.
He didn't deserve that strong did not.
It's the first name I thought of that had to play like all these minutes last Hornets, by the way, the ball, by the way, might be playing in the Chinese basketball hopeing not caught up in that whole scandal.
Hornets moved in to your point about the offense, and we've all seen the numbers when Con Brandon Meller on the court together, the efficiency numbers are way off the charts.
They jumped into the top ten for the season bone in offensive efficiency last night, still just outside the top twenty in defensive efficiency.
Speaker 2But now a top ten offense.
Speaker 3Imagine where they'd rank Bone if those guys I know, if it's if and butts and all that stuff, but where they would rank if they all were in all healthy for the bulk of the season.
So this is fun, man, Hornets basketball is now fun.
And tomorrow night against the Warriors, I know it's right up against the NFL playoffs, so it take TV navigating and stuff like that.
But like Steph Curry against the Hornets tomorrow night, with the Hornets the way they're playing like, it's these games are fun.
There's improvement being made.
You cannot deny something is happening over there, finally boned plready.
Speaker 4Four assists is just absurd.
And it wasn't one guy, although Mello had eleven, but all the other, all the other twenty three were all spread out as a buffet, a family style buffet of Sharon plates.
Last night.
Everyone got some assists last it was And you're right, that's beautiful basketball to watch.
Speaker 2I like, that's the thing.
Speaker 3I like, they're not like and I know guys Will LaMelo will go one on one, bridges go one on one, but when they're playing their best, it's not one on one.
Speaker 2It's share.
It's that sharing of the ball right and space the floor and I.
Speaker 3Kick it to you and you make an extra pass to me, and it's just it's beautiful basketball, it really.
Speaker 4Although the highlight of the night may have been Wamelo going one on one against dere Ayton' true, you did a beautiful description of what happened there.
DeAndre Ayton, pick up your draws, man, What in the hell was that Mello does this.
Speaker 3Step back where he has he's so he stepped so far back to the three point line, like he was basically at the elbow bone when he crossed up eighton and then has to step step step step step, And now I'm at the three and he nailed it the degree of difficulty And listen, I know, I'm sure there's basketball coaches that are listening right now that will like shake their head at the tough shots he takes, because when he misses him, it looks kind of ridiculous.
Speaker 2One leg up in the air and you're one of nine, like what do we do?
Speaker 3But my god, when he hits the degree of difficulty shots that are off the charts, it's something.
Speaker 4He's also got that move that EC and Dell talk about a lot.
He also dead legs a lot going to the basket lately.
Yeah, he just completely stops in the defense, doesn't know what to do with and they fly past him.
Speaker 2You know, he used to do that.
Speaker 3Former WFNZ radio hosts Sandy Penner at the Jewish Community Center.
I used to ball with him over to JCC.
He would have he is so he was such a slow, old bald man, But the dude would just stop on the drive.
Everybody would fly past him and he just shoot a little soft layup.
I don't know how, I don't know how I'm compared.
How am I comparing LaMelo to Sandy Place.
Get old car with great brakes.
Crafty baby, it's crafty seven four, five, seven, nine, six ten.
This dude says, Eric Collins was the real star of the game.
I mean he isn't many games.
And the better the Hornets play, the better EC is because he gets all fired up, gets all excited bone about things.
His Luca slam was great and I love this play by the way, Bone Luka Donciz was doing that thing where he doesn't get back on defense because he's pouting and whining to the refs.
We went down to the other end and scored five on four and then they teed up Luca and this is when Eric Collins bone went viral with an appreciation from Luca haters across the world.
Speaker 2Dare I say, let's listen to ec This guy is a wier.
Speaker 5You know that.
Speaker 2You know back in the day, pac Man would have that as a winer on his r How do we hear the one?
We hear the one with the noise?
I like that one.
Speaker 3Well, that's the shot you were talking about when LaMelo cast down and had the step back.
Speaker 2All right, here we go pass Hayton in the crosshairs just to get in there fire.
He got this twitch that he wanted.
Speaker 4There was some Willie P with that noise there a little bit Rightdi was that some Willip there.
Yes, his other cut also could apply to Willie P as well.
Here let me hear you see what he said about Willy P talking sports.
Speaker 2This guy is he wer he did.
Speaker 4He said that that's not right?
What about the audio?
What about the guy the audio Willie Pe talking food?
I mean, come on, Matt, this guy is.
Speaker 3Baron, says Luke Eagles, cry baby.
This dude says, talk about punchable faces.
Luca has one.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 3I find him to be really easy to hate.
Like the whining is he wants every call.
And by the way, here's the thing that's annoying.
They did tech him up.
We did get a basket while he whined and didn't get back on defense.
But did you notice bone he got like two lame calls right after that.
It's like he gets his way.
That's what bothers me the most.
Speaker 2But the one that's ran them out of the.
Speaker 3Gym, that's that was a that's beautiful to beat him.
Speaker 4And Lebron that feels good.
He spends so much time with the referees.
He makes Draymond Green seem like a civil a civil person.
He spends so much time back.
Speaker 2I love it.
Speaker 4It happened in Dallas quite a bit where he'll if you watch the defense running back, he'll be way behind and he'll just be talking to the referees the whole time.
He has a constant dialogue the entire game.
It's ridiculous, and he gets rewarded.
It feels like often for it.
Patrick has requested he needs the easc cut call again on the lamello.
Speaker 3I guess is that what he's looking for.
I guess play that again.
Cast the cross hair, just get in there.
Speaker 2He got the switch that he wanted.
You said it.
Speaker 4It was such a seamless noise.
They didn't even interrupt his flow of his work.
Speaker 3He was like talking and then all of a sudden, he like almost like blurted in the middle of his sentence a noise.
It's almost like does he control the noises bone or did they just come out of his body.
Speaker 2He's excited the sound someone from the button.
Speaker 4Ec is going to be on one tomorrow after the win against Golden State Dell with his kids there.
Speaker 2Ec is going to be on a heater tomorrow night.
Oh, there's no doubt about it.
No doubt.
Speaker 3So here's here's a question.
And I saw someone posted on Twitter and I forget it was.
It was kind of one of the you know, blog sites on Twitter for the Hornets that I follow, and I apologize I can't give proper credit, but somebody said, don't break this core up, like games like this show that you should not break this core up.
Yesterday we were talking about Bridges and Sexton being the two most popular names right now in the trade trade world, and we both kind of acknowledge the trades are coming that the feeling is they still want to get more assets.
Does part of you, though, watch them play the OKC game, in the Utah game and last night and want to see Bridges stay and at least want to see those four stay together bone.
Speaker 2Yeah, on nights, on nights like that.
Speaker 4But there's also Knights, like when they play the Pacers where you go, oh, maybe they should get some more here.
They're very up and down when they're at their best.
You want to see these guys play together.
They also will still have Knights where they're not that way, and you look at it and think, Wow, they need to do something else here.
I think the most likely guy that they would move on from, although he still has one more year to go after this, Miles Bridges, to me, would be the guy most likely of that group to move.
Of course, they're not moving con and Brandon Miller, and they're not going to move a mellow during the season.
Think Bridges would be the guy of that group the most keep her eyes on Hurricane Insurance has trade Bridges please.
I mean, I do feel that tweet though, Like when I watch like this team healthy is fun to watch like, and yeah, they still have those moments in them Bone the loss to the Pacers and things like that, but there's something happening with this group right now.
So I do feel that there is part of me that's not in a hurry bone to, you know, dismantle what we have going.
But there's also a long game that I think our boys Schlotkin, Plaquet and Chanol there's a long game that I think they have Jeff Peterson playing here.
And if you can get keep bringing in assets for the future and keep arming yourself, because Jeff Peterson said it, there will be a time where they where they turn up the aggression, and I think they want to have be loaded with an OKC type kitty for that.
Speaker 3You wonder if they put but I feel that vibe like, hey man, this team there's there's finally progress in this team's fun.
Speaker 2I wonder if.
Speaker 4There's a plan in place if injuries hit, Like thinking about they're playing entering the season, if injuries hit and they're not winning basketball games, would they look to trade Bridges?
If they're winning and he's a big part of it, do they keep Bridges?
And we'll see what happens in a month from now?
Because I think t John does play a factor here.
They have draft investment in him.
If they were losing games, would they be more apt to put tj On in there right now and develop it more?
But because they're winning, are they more apt to sit t j On and let Bridges play this thing out?
I wonder if that was sort of the play in here, see how it goes.
Yeah, there is a glut right now.
Speaker 3You know at that power forward, Grant Hill's better Grand Hill, Grant Williams is back on the team as well.
I'm trying to look at where we're at.
Somebody says Mac, You keep bridges and you go for the play in.
Hornets are two games out of the play in behind the Bucks, and then it's two more games up.
No, actually, I'm sorry, I'm wrong about that.
They are four games out right because the play in final play in spots ten.
Speaker 4Yes, so we're four games out.
We're making that.
I mean, we're playing better, but we still do have those like Pacer moments in us.
Speaker 2Let me check.
I still think we got to play the long game.
Speaker 4This in a weird spot, Mack, because they are four back of the Hawks, but they're also four ahead of the Wizards for the second worst team, so they're we would think that they're going in the direction towards the play in, but they're in that middle area where they're also not.
They're also not far off from being still one of the worst teams.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 3Yeah, every time, Fitty, I thought that in my mind where you played that, every time someone says the Wizards, I think of Walker saying it that way, Wizard.
Speaker 5It's stuck in my and it's one of the few times he's actually like broken on the air because Walker's pretty reserved.
And the best part about that game, Mac where he did this, that's where we went to the game in sack court side.
Speaker 2Remember that game we went to last year.
Speaker 3Yeah, I would have thought it would be the end of the season when they when it was when they finally when they swept us and.
Speaker 5It was like game six, Remember they beat us by like thirty they did at Spectrum Center, and he was he was losing me.
Speaker 2But that was little back.
Speaker 5Remember he one of the beanie that was the whole thing talked about where we were sitting course out an NBA game.
Speaker 3The Hornets might have got blown out, but man, that front court club was good, wasn't it?
Spoken like every Hornets fan that has had access to the front court club and gotten blown out and still had a good time.
Speaker 2Oh man.
Speaker 3But anyway, Hornets twin last night one thirty five to one seventeen were now better than the Hawks.
The Hawks traded Trey Young, they're gonna drop off.
Speaker 2But here's the thing.
Trey Young when he even play it, you know, yeah, and he's not going to play for a while.
Speaker 4For the Wizards, I actually think they might be better off without trading Jayalen Johnson has been an absolute stud.
Speaker 2That's uh, that's Duke's Jalen Johnson.
Speaker 4He's back in the brother also, yet Steph Curry has also joined the brotherhood, by the way.
In his post game speech to the team the other day, Steph Curry said, with authority, I am a Duke fan.
Speaker 2Nothing to do with his brother wearing a Duke jacket.
Next time.
That's a big that's a big get for the Blue Devil nation.
Speaker 4Matt, can I give you one more statue idea from a Texter and we'll just go to break on this thought for the Panthers conversation.
What about a Matt Khalil statue?
Oh jeez, alright, when we come back.
NFL weekend preview, our upset specials, sure winners and the teams were rooting for and against fours Radio ninety seven w f Z.
Speaker 3I'm Sports Radio ninety two seven WFNZ.
I'm not gonna say Bone that my mind is already on the weekend and sitting on the couch drinking a couple of IPAs, watching all this sports.
But I just asked while the Rejoin music was playing Pearl Jam, by the way, best band in all the land.
But as that was playing, Bone, I did ask, you, guys, what are we talking now?
NFL Playoffs yeah, I might.
You know, I may not have been fully prepared for the segment, but I'm ready to go now.
The pre segment teases work on the audience, but not for the co host of the radio.
Yeah, I guess I have to listen to you.
Hopefully, hopefully everybody else is listening to you.
All right, let's talk a little playoffs.
Last Saturday and Sunday.
When I watched the playoffs after after the Panther game and Monday night I was watching, I still felt a little melancholy.
I still, you know, four of the games were great, including ours, but I was still a little sad in melancholy.
I think I'm gonna be in better mental state this week.
Speaker 2Bone.
Speaker 3We've had a good week of talking about the progress that we've made and looking forward to our future.
So now I think I'm ready to watch this week of football and not like possibly tear up what This is.
Speaker 2Your favorite football week of the year.
Speaker 4You've said before, right, of all the playoffs, this is, yeah, Prime Media, Of all the playoffs, I like this round the most because it's usually more competitive than the wildcard round.
A though we're pretty competitive last week and you still have two games a day you know, so I liked.
Speaker 2The division round.
Speaker 3All right, let's do some let's just some different categories here to kind of go through this playoff week.
Speaker 2FITTI, will you involved as well?
Speaker 3There will be a time bone when we go back and talk about the old Fitty tweets that we found about Cam Newton and the Panthers and me, wait, wait, will that will happen on the show at some point, But let's start with this.
What is your Do you have a upset special bone?
Do you have an underdog that you think is gonna win?
Outright?
I have two of them in the same conference.
That's Buffalo beating Denver, and I have Houston beating New England.
So Buffalo is Houston, which would be in Houston for the AFC Championship game.
And I think that will be a heck of a game watching those defensive ends, that defense try to stop Josh Allen from finally getting to the super Bowl.
Speaker 4That would be a hell of a game.
And I think that's the game we're gonna get.
I think I think I Denver and Newengland had great years, but I don't know if they're ready yet for the next step.
Speaker 3Their young quarterbacks Fitty.
I agree with this man, and I don't know if that makes for boring radio.
But I have been saying this week that I believe the same thing.
I believe it's going I believe Josh Allen is gonna be interesting.
That defense against Josh Allen's gonna be interesting.
But I read a stat about bo Knicks that was fascinating.
In his career, he's off to a great start, he said, I think like twenty four to ten in his career in the regular season.
But in his career he is won in eight against teams with winning records when they score seventeen points or more.
What So his defense is winning him games against the you know, good teams.
And if his defense can't hold good teams down to seventeen or less, he ain't winning.
Josh Allen, in my opinions, breaking that number.
And I so, I just I'm with you.
I like the Bills and we need in the Texans defense.
I think I would go Texans defense.
Although the Patriots defense against the Texans offense, Nico Collins might not play.
Speaker 5C J.
Speaker 3Strad look pretty rough the other night, like that's a low scoring game.
I don't think the Texas offense is doing much either in that game the overall time, I say Buffalo is my number one underdog over.
Speaker 4Under in the Houston, New England games forty and a half.
That to me screams thirteen to ten, ten, seven, fourteen, ten.
I don't I don't think it's going to get anywhere near the over who's your underdog?
Special Fitty?
Speaker 2Let us know fit.
I think I'm going NFC.
I think I think I'm going I think I'm going Chicago, Okay, getting three and a half at home.
Speaker 5There's there's something about this team doesn't die, man Like they were down twenty one to three last week, down on twenty one to nine in the fourth quarter, and they came back to win.
There's a belief in that locker as long as there's time on the clock, just start going to make plays.
So I think that's probably where I go because I know that I know the panther Land.
We hate Sean Payton.
I am pulling like hell for the Broncos to the Bills.
There's I do not want to watch Josh Allen have his run to the Super Bowl.
I'm not here for that storyline.
Do you know if you're a Panther fan.
Shouldn't you hate Sean Payton?
I do hate Sean Payton, but I don't hate them.
But but I think I hate Josh Allen.
Speaker 3Why I don't understand your Josh Allen hate should be studied in psychological labs.
It doesn't make any sense to understand him.
Why he's an embarrassment to the name Josh.
Speaker 2I just I don't.
Now do you understand it all?
Speaker 1Why?
What?
Speaker 2What do you have explained further for the audience?
Speaker 6What?
Speaker 4Why do you not like Josh Allen?
Besides, he doesn't do your name justice.
Speaker 5I think it's just part of like I mean, I hate everything associated with the Bills, right, I hate.
I hate everything find their fans to be likable, I don't crazy and likable.
I find them over the top obnoxious.
Look, I know they've got nothing in cold ass Buffalo.
They've got they've got wings, and they got football and a lot of of losing football.
But since they've gotten good, since they've gotten relevant, if you will, like I get up for the playoffs to watch him lose.
Speaker 2I enjoy watching him, I know, And I've never understood it because it's not like it's a direct rival.
Speaker 4I will say this for you twice in Super Bowls before you were born as a cowboy fan back in the day.
Speaker 2It's true, that is true.
Speaker 5I am.
Speaker 3I am a little upset with his wife, Haley Steinfeld, the actress.
Did you see the picture of slowed around yesterday?
Speaker 2I did, Yes.
She was nineteen years old.
Speaker 3In Broncos gear at Super Bowl fifty dabbing, which I assume is a mocking of Cam Newton after they beat us in Super Bowl fifty.
I'm a little unhappy with her.
I usually like that couple, a little unhappy.
I will ask you this question, Bone, who do you who are you rooting for?
Is there a team you're rooting for rooting against?
You have strong feelings either way about any of these eight teams or not really rooting definitely against Denver and Sean Payton.
Definitely against New England.
I would never root for them.
So those are two that I definitely don't want to see advance.
There's cases to be made multiple ways.
I think for the other ones.
I have nothing whatsoever against Houston.
I'm kind of grown.
Speaker 4Buffalo has grown on me a little bit since our former producer Zach McGee is no longer here.
If he was working here, we'd be with you for to be hardcore, we'd be it for Denver.
Speaker 2Probably that's a Bill's person I can riot against.
I haven't.
Speaker 4This may go as an unpopular opinion, but I'll stand on the firing line here and take it.
I know that the Bears fans are annoying, that there's that connection with the Panthers and the trade.
I have family and friends that are Bears fans.
I would not mind seeing Bill's Bears super Bowl because of those fan bases.
They kind of crack me up a little bit.
I wouldn't mind seeing them.
That would be a fun super Bowl.
Bills and Bears, I say my dad was.
There are also some tortured fan bases.
I got nothing for The Bears or fans are annoying.
As I will say this, my dad was a Bears fan for life.
If he was still with us, i'd feel differently, but I can't.
My dad can't enjoy it, which is very sad.
Speaker 3And my dad passes and the Bears finally have a quarterback and are finally good.
I am rooting for the Bills in the AFC, and I am rooting for the Rams in the NFC.
I am going with the I want to lose to eight.
I want the team to go on to great things that we lost to I want to be able to say all off season we lost by three the super Bowl champs and beat him in the regular season.
Speaker 2I'm going with that.
Speaker 4I'm going with that mode of operation.
Everyone's got their reasons when your team's not in it anymore.
What's the number one can't miss game, Fittie, is it?
Josh Allen hate watching?
What is the number one can't miss game for you?
Speaker 5I think I would have said Seattle San Francisco, But Darnold's got this oblique injury that I don't know how healthy he's gonna be.
He said that he's gonna play, but that's gonna feel like just's gonna look and feel like playoff football, defensive minded, rugged which teams wins at at the line of scrimmage.
But I do think for me, yes, the Bills and Broncos are at the same time, the Heels are going to probably lose to California, So I'll have to probably split my watching have two screens going.
But that'll be my biggest emotional investment is hoping that Josh Allen gets beat, and then on Sunday I will turn into Patriots pouch and I will be right there with Flounder, hoping Drake Megots.
Speaker 4When a media, it's no doubt Rams Bears.
You've got Ben Johnson versus McVeigh.
I think it's gonna be like six degrees or something like that Sunday night in Chicago.
You've got the you've got the MVP of the league, Matt Stafford, first to never say die, Caleb Williams.
Great offensive playmakers abound.
I think Rams Bears Patriots Texans will be close, but I don't think it's not a football game.
I think Seattle's gonna I think Seattle's got some for the Niners in that game, and Buffalo Denvers should be good too.
But I think no doubt Rams Bears, with the way those teams play, their defenses will give up points.
The environment, the setting, Bears are never out of it.
I think that's gonna be an awesome football Yeah.
Speaker 2I think so too.
Speaker 3My favorite the game that like if my wife says I'm leaving you if you watch more than one game the Gang, and I can't do that because I can't do anything for myself for my kids.
So I need her, and I'm not getting better than her.
I'm probably I'm probably not I'm not getting better than her, and I'm probably not getting anybody.
So anyway, I need missus Mac very badly.
My game is is Broncos and Bills.
I want to see Josh Allen against that defense, and I personally want to see Josh Allen truck Sean Payton on the sideline, you know, the way Sean Payton got trucked by that ref earlier in the season.
I want Josh Allen to run out of bounds and on purpose truck Sean Payton.
I want that in my weekend so badly.
So anyway, there you go.
Speaker 4Then I want I want the ghost of Marv Levy to haunt Champagne during that game.
Hold on a minute now, Wait, Marvel is still with us, in't he?
Speaker 2Yes?
Speaker 1He is?
Speaker 2Yeah, he is?
Speaker 3Uh, sludge, what are you doing?
Try to kill poor mar Go Bills, you try to kill the poor man.
Speaker 4When we come back, We're going to turn our attention for a few minutes to Monday nights National Championship Game Indiana, Miami.
Kelly Stauffer of ESPN does a great job on the radio side, he'll preview that game.
How much of a chance does Miami have at the upset?
Sports Radio ninety two seven WFZ
