Willie's World: Panthers Playoff Chances, Victory Dancing & Swine of the Week

Episode Transcript

Speaker 1

Allow me to reintroduce myself.

Speaker 2

My name is pinwel Oh my god, even I think this is shameless and cruel.

It is time for Willy's world with the.

Speaker 3

Awesome Willpel logic.

Fiddy is trolling the P man something fierce.

Yes, Notre Dame did beat Willie's Miszoo Tigers, one of the six wins out of nine for the ACC and the acc SEC Challenge.

Speaker 2

Six people love that one, moode.

How upset P Man are you with Fiddy right now?

Well?

Speaker 1

I wonder if he'd be doing this if his team had not beaten Kentucky like like this, this is this is what?

This is this this his team beat Kentucky.

Can congratulations to them?

He would not be be crowing this bloud about a Missouri team, Uh, basically being subject to a rep show in the Joyst Center life.

Okay, by the way, speaking of refs, we are getting we we got a couple of great text bone that appointed to this.

Jeff the bravestaying was one of them.

How tempted do you think the referees will be and the conference will be just to give Virginia every call on Saturday night so they get a team in the playoff.

I mean that's not gonna you mean, that's not gonna happen.

We could phrase it that way.

Hell Willy, I've already cooked up an entire acc scenario in my head that we'll see Saturday.

When they showed the replay center, great thing that they do, right, I love, and the guy says everyone good, everyone good in the call.

We all agree he's gonna say, all right, we're gonna screw Duke.

Here, everyone a great, We're screwing Duke.

Here you go, now you're good.

Speaker 2

You know good?

Speaker 1

Here I saw one bowl projection bone that has provided that Virginia beats Duke Missouri Duke Duke's Mayo bowl.

Speaker 2

Oh, there we go, and then we can make another bet.

Speaker 1

We make our own Mayo Mayo bowl bet when someone gets the old Mayo on the head.

Here, here is the problem with that bet scenario.

I can't even go to the game because we're not going to be in town.

Whether we can still dump Mayo, we're not.

We're not doing it at the game with the coach.

I'm just saying, any any opportunity for me to see, you know, the university that I you know, pledged my my time with and all that.

I can't even see them when they're in my hometown.

We can't help you with that, but we could dump some money.

I thought you thought you didn't bet on your team, though I might make an exception for the nukes.

Speaker 2

That case.

Speaker 1

I have to know if a certain I have to know if a certain running back is playing though a certain run.

We just made a bet for a game that's not even scheduled.

Speaker 3

It's not even scheduled yet, all right, p man, Hey, let's are first with the big soccer news for this city.

Yesterday, I no you tweeted it out and I retweeted it.

Awesome news.

This US men's national team friendly, the next to last friendly before the World Cup, will be played here in Charlotte.

This is a major deal of timing of this makes this freaking mammoth.

Speaker 1

It's incredible because while Charlotte and the state of North Carolina have hosted the national team for friendlies before, I think this is the first time they've gotten a sendoff friendly of this nature.

And so it's going to be the full national team and it actually is going to be the first game because Mauricio Pochattinos sometimes with these sendoff friendlies, they'll bring a larger roster, but Pactino said, I'm naming my roster before these last two games.

Speaker 2

He's not changing it.

Speaker 1

They might, obviously, you know, if there's an injury or something along those lines.

Have some guys kind of waiting off in the Reds.

But the team that he is bringing to Charlotte will be the team that plays in the World Cup, and it's an incredible opportunity.

Speaker 2

We still don't't want opponent yet.

Speaker 1

They're waiting for the World Cup draw, which happens Friday at the Kennedy Center in DC.

They don't want to end up playing somebody who they're in a group with, so they have to kind of wait to see how that machination plays out.

They're already playing i think Germany, Portugal, and Belgium as part of their run up to the World Cup next year too, So those Belgium and Portugal are in March in Atlanta, and then the Germany game is in Chicago.

Speaker 2

Again.

Speaker 1

Part of the reason that they knew about those is that those guys are in the same pot as the United States, so there's no way they can play them.

So they're trying to see if there's another squad out there outside of their group that they wouldn't necessarily play.

Speaker 2

But it's a great opportunity.

Speaker 1

It's gonna be a full building, and it has the potential to be one of the most highly attended soccer games we've seen in Bank America Stadium's history.

Willie mac gave us the nerd Numbees earlier on the Panthers percentage playoff chances back was it eighteen and.

Speaker 2

Eighteen, twenty one and twenty two?

Speaker 3

Were the numbers from all these different stat Geek plays.

Speaker 1

Does those numbers?

Do they make sense to you or would you go higher than that?

Well, it tells me that they don't think very highly of the Panthers' chances against the Buccaneers.

Speaker 2

This is what that tells me.

Speaker 1

And again, I think this obviously is all subject to change.

I think it can still go in the panthers favor if they have a favorable two weeks against the Saints and the Bucks.

And again, I know we're not counting the Saints as a win yet because of what happened to the Panthers in that first game, But this is kind of where people are looking at them and saying, hey, they've been a little schizophrenic.

They've had great victories against high quality teams, and they've had.

Speaker 2

Some head scratches.

Speaker 1

And the other part of this too is that I think coming off of buy and playing this team I think will help them.

And I think i'd either have them playing the Saints, you know, knowing that that first game was so unsettling, I'd rather almost have that than like have an early buy or things of that nature.

I think I think this is this is I think a very very Tailorman situation.

It's very very easy to motivate them.

I think having the late bye two also is like it's like if you had a buy, say in you know, early October or whatever, guys are going to can Coon, They're going, you know elsewhere.

Speaker 2

You have a late bye.

You got ice packs on your knees.

Speaker 1

You're not doing anything so and I think you're probably watching a lot of film and looking at your playbook, and also you're seeing about the fact that you lost to the Saints.

So I think that this works out well for the Panthers.

There's only four games left.

You said you you put all of it into the Saints, and then you've got a chance in your building to take the Divisional lead against Tampa Bay in two weeks.

Speaker 3

P Man, what do you think about the Canalist Coach of the Year campaign?

I believe Connor or of s I officially got it going the other day when he brought up sorry to guys like Benjajohnson and Vrabel and all the great candidates out there, but he thinks Dave Kanal should be coach of the year.

Speaker 2

Do you think he has a chance.

Speaker 3

Do you think he should be mentioned among the top few coaching jobs this year?

Speaker 2

What do you think?

Speaker 1

Well, well, just don't send the film of the first halves of two minute drills to the NFL when we're trying to, you know, talk about his candidacy.

Speaker 3

You hate those the defensive two minute drill.

But it worked out though Pete didn't it the least they didn't least La get the ball at the end of the half.

Speaker 1

The least threatening, most non urgent two minute drill in the history of the National Football League has happened twice for the Panthers.

Uh this game of the Dallas game.

I mean, I like that he's getting some recognition.

I think if if the Bears win the NFC, then then obviously I think that it's a it's a fad of complete for Ben Johnson just because of the way that is.

Again, I know there's a lot of football to be played when it comes to you know, there could be a lot of moving and shaking between those numbers.

I know that, you know, maybe a little bit of the sheen is off of Shane Steichen after the way that that Indianapolis has kind of fallen off a little bit.

Vrabel obviously will get a lot of attention based on what happened with New England, and you know, a lot of that obviously is credit to Drake May, but at the same point in time, it's it's I think Vrabel is gonna get a lot of kudos for that.

So I think I think if you have guys who are first year head coaches at the top of their conferences, they're going to get obviously more of the top billing.

But if we're talking about a comeback scenario for a guy who was there, you know, Canallas, definitely at least we'll get some votes, and I think it'll be a good thing for him.

I think a lot of it also just depends on how they finish, because while they didn't necessarily show out themselves on their spotlight game on Monday Night Football.

They definitely made the most of the spotlight over the weekend beating the Rams team.

Speaker 2

I think I think they got more.

Speaker 1

They got more credit in that game than I think discredit from playing them the night and looking the way that they did against the forty nine ers.

I think also a big, big part of this could be if that UH first Tampa game gets flexed.

That's another big situation too as well.

Speaking of Tampa, some notable NFC South news this morning from Ian Rappaport NFL Network.

Mike Evans is back quicker than expected.

He will practice today from the broken clavicle.

So Mike Evans.

Mike Evans is back against the Panthers.

McMillan, who had the neck right early on, he's back and Evans is back today also, so bean healthier.

Speaker 2

Yep, that's lovely.

Speaker 3

Speaking of one of those guys, I wanted Mike Evans to just rest for the holidays.

Speaker 1

I thought it might go up against like the very end of the season, and he's a back like a month earlier.

Speaker 2

Willy.

Speaker 1

A guy you know and love very much is UH listener Steven Whittaker, who now leads all listeners and begging for free tickets.

But that's not the point here.

Speaker 2

Uh.

Speaker 1

He wants to know what did you think of his dance in the doghouse window the other day?

And who do you think is a bet dancer?

Mac or Stephen Whittaker.

This is the seventeenth time I've gotten this question in the last three days from Stephen Whittaker, and I know that guy shocks all of you.

His dance was definitely gyration filled.

I would say, you know, it was in the after glow of the victory, so I think there was a lot of emotion that was tied to it.

Speaker 2

I still would give Mac the edge.

Speaker 1

Edge take that wit, But I do think that Whittaker needs to be in.

Speaker 2

The rotation at some point.

What rotation victory dictation of.

Speaker 1

Your of your victory dance.

We've rotated him right back out of it, yeah, but we did rotate him out out here.

Speaker 2

Why are you not in the victory dance?

Willie?

Speaker 3

You were?

Speaker 2

People are still talking about your appearance.

Guys.

Speaker 1

You guys, you guys do it at a time when I am unavailable.

If you would do it at a different time of the day, or or if I if you would let me come in early, we do it during the break.

Speaker 2

I would do it.

It's just I'm not available at the time that you do it.

Speaker 1

Are you doing I've told you, guys, I have a I go and work out with a trainer on Monday mornings at ten am.

Speaker 2

Really, yes, watch self, vitie?

Speaker 1

Yes?

Speaker 2

I do you want to do?

You want to see the balance sheet?

How about it, you hug, you bring the trainer in here.

This coounts doesn't work out.

You did the famous hot potato dance.

We need to see it again.

Speaker 1

If you if you guys, if they win a football game and you guys will do it during a break during the Monday morning show, I will do it all right, next win, We're going to do it during a break during the Charles Sports Today.

Speaker 2

We're taking No.

I can't.

I can't do it during that time of day.

Speaker 3

I bet if they asked you to host Charlotte Sports Today on a Monday, I bet you'd be able to.

Speaker 2

I bet you called it that trainer and cancel.

Speaker 1

I've actually, I've actually I've actually had to say no because of that.

Okay, we need to see the rigorous way he's into this.

I can't encouraging.

I cannot cancel within twenty four hours.

Notice, what's this trainer's name?

Is this a real trainer?

He's a real trainer.

I'm not going to give you his name on the air.

Speaker 2

What gym do you go to?

Golds Gym?

All right, I'm making phone calls, phone calls.

Speaker 3

This dude says, is Fitty really making fun of someone else working out?

This dude says, the only trainer Fitty knows is named Meghan Trainer and and and.

Speaker 1

He also was trying to get on me for not posting about food.

I'm retired from posting food on on Twitter.

Guys, that's your best thing, because I just don't.

I don't feel like I want people thieving my joy.

And I don't want to hear from a guy who literally does not know how to cook a pop tart to tell me how I think you should be cooking my turkey.

Speaker 2

Oh who's that Fitty be?

That'd be the loud mouth in the back.

Speaker 4

Oh wasn't me, It was Mac.

I told him when I called him on Sunday for Panther pre game.

I said, the streets were wondering where the annual Willie Pass.

Speaker 2

You the streets is you.

Let's be real.

Speaker 3

I like your food photos, and I don't think you should listen to any of these people.

I mean, these people that bring up dry brisket, whoever they are, man, you know what I mean?

Speaker 2

Whoever those jerks are, don't worry about it.

Speaker 1

Is something that is.

It has thieved my joy and I'm not doing it.

I'm not dealing with man that sucks.

Like what we've done to Willie, I feel kind of bad.

Now are you bringing me pumpkin pie?

Speaker 2

WILLI?

You promised me a piece?

I think we actually late the last piece.

Well, that ain't gona help relations with Fiddy or the trainer.

Speaker 1

But the trainer, God, that stuff gets burned out in the warld WILLI.

Speaker 2

Is this true?

Speaker 1

Your trainer has texted the radio show and said he can always adjust times if you want to dance.

No, that's he's probably he's actually about to work out with my wife right now, so he's probably not texting the show.

Speaker 2

Okay, y'all share a trainer?

Speaker 3

There you go, You have comment on your comment about that?

Speaker 2

What else do y'all share?

Speaker 1

Oh?

Speaker 2

My god, what on earth is coming on here?

What are you insiders?

There is coming on here about say how many?

Say?

How many passwords?

Speaker 1

Do you?

Speaker 2

And flound dizzey ship.

Speaker 1

I'm looking at some of these texts playing each other on their taxes at this point.

Speaker 3

What everybody's going after Willie's workout?

Red says where the muscles?

Speaker 2

Willie?

I don't see?

By the way, that's our caller right right there, says I, I don't see any muscles.

Speaker 3

Is is tom Brady's Is this Tom Brady's ex wife's trainer?

Someone wants to know here, Let's see what else we have.

This dude says I have five hundred dollars.

It says neither Willy nor Fitty have worked out since since COVID hit or before.

Speaker 1

Excuse me, I'd like I'd like you to make that five hundred dollars check out to the Second Harvest Food Back Metrolina, because that is patently fun, all right, right right right there, it's around five hundred.

Speaker 3

Actually, would you see the dude that says Willy's working out his Lake Pressel top seventy pounds this week?

That's cold man that I'm not here for this stuff, Pete.

I'm just reading them, but I'm not here for this man.

Speaker 2

All right.

Speaker 1

I want you to know that you guys have you guys have thoroughly wasted my time.

Speaker 3

Who's your as opposed to most most Wednesdays, who's your swine?

Speaker 2

Why is it fitting?

It's Adam feeling is what it is.

Speaker 1

And we heard from his wife apparently this morning, who tried to be like, yeah, we really wanted to have you know, Adam, you know, have a go off into the sunset.

Speaker 2

And he just wants to compete.

Speaker 1

He's coming off really whiny in this whole situation, and people, you know, forget that.

He was also like a little bit mouthy during the twenty twenty four season as well, demanding a trade him and Deontay Johnson at the same point in time, like is this really the great team locker room guy that Zach Latrelle and all these people who wanted him back wanted to beat.

He gets to go now to play in Pittsburgh.

Go enjoy Aaron Rodgers and conspiracy theories and the noodle law and all the stuff about Pittsburgh, the fries on the sandwiches, et cetera, and so on.

Speaker 2

Have that for four weeks.

Speaker 1

Good luck, God bless and I never want to hear about Adam Thielon in the Panthers.

Speaker 2

Ever again, there.

Speaker 3

You go is a pe man bringing a baby.

He's bringing it all right, Pee, We will talk to you man.

Be good, Pete.

This was thoroughly unenjoyable.
