Episode Transcript

Speaker 1

Gonna tell you congratulations on your success, young man.

You hold your head up, all right.

You guys have had a most magnificent season.

He did a great job out there today.

So you just hold your head up, okay.

And ladies and gentlemen, douvall you don't one.

All right, keep it going.

We got another season, okay, appreciate take care of much continued success to you and the entire team.

Speaker 2

That was an awkward moment from the press conference for Liam Cohen after the Jaguars lose yesterday.

That was Lynn Jones.

This has gone viral.

Lynn Jones is a reporter for the Jacksonville Free Press.

Some people loved it.

Some reading Adam Schefter loved that.

Many people in the media did not like it because they say, you're there to do a job, You're there to ask questions at a press conference.

Speaker 3

I want to say this.

Speaker 2

I thought it was a little odd, bony, but she sounds like a very nice lady.

I that's why, Boney, I don't go to the postgame pressers because after a big Panthers win, that's the way I would act right there.

Speaker 3

Coach, you have all.

Speaker 2

The journals, all the journalists in America.

Mad at mac coach.

You're so gray, You're just so amazing.

I can't think of one bad thing or one hard question to ask you right now?

Do you have a print in someone else?

But say we get that next, do you have a problem with that?

With that approach to a presser, bonu you was interesting, she was corrected.

Speaker 3

Had been a hell of a season for Liam Goe was interesting.

Speaker 2

I don't is she a podcast host, a blogger, writer for the Jacksonville Free Press.

Okay, so she's the legit writer.

All the journalists in the ward had to come out and make their stance that they did not condone what she did.

I saw one of the writers for the AP saying we're all on dead wise, that she's ruining our time like that fifteen seconds took away your deadline.

Well, I thought it was a little bit odd of the timing of that, but I thought it created a real human moment.

I really I kind of liked it, to be honest with you.

I know that it's kind of weird, but I thought it was a good human moment.

We don't have a lot of you and Adam Schefter, you guys got her back.

I don't know why Adam schefter is a report.

I don't know why the hell he would find I mean, I mean, I'm not saying everyone should do that, but I thought in that moment it was kind of like impossible.

You could have stopped him after the presser and said all of that stuff, Yeah, is that possible that you don't take up time in a presser and people trying to figure out, why did you do this in the game, why'd you do that in the game.

It was a great game, though, Man, a great freaking game.

I think we should send Thurwoining in to talk to coachw I would tell you right now, I thought you don't win, coach, But it was hell of the game.

Speaker 3

All right, let's talk about the weekend.

It was Bonie.

Speaker 2

Let's at least do a few minutes bouncing around to the non Panther stuff, and then we'll get back to obsessing over the Panthers by start talking about who could be leaving in the offseason, who might need replacing, and all that kind of stuff.

But let's start with the NFL games.

Josh Allen, I don't know, bone in a field without dominant teams, it's not crazy to think that Josh Allen can will this Bills team to victory over and over again?

What do you think I think he did it yesterday.

I think Jacksonville's the better team.

Yeah, now they think Josh Allen willed them the victory, and now they go into Denver.

Only make sure I have it correct here.

I believe they're the favorites.

They're playing on Saturday, and Buffalo goes in to play the number one seed as a point and a half favorite.

So that's interesting, right, I mean, how many times back is the team want to buy that's the number one seed when they host that divisional game?

How many times are they the underdog against a team that was the seed line of Buffalo.

It's not a lot, Yeah, but I do wonder if it's all playing out where You've got New England and Drake May, but they're new to the scene.

Houston has a really good defense, but they're not insurmountable.

Pittsburgh's not great.

I just I wonder if this is Josh Allen's time.

The deck has kind of been cleared.

No Mahomes, no Lamar, no Burrough, They're all out of the way.

You wonder if this is his year to maybe at least get him over the top.

I could see it happen.

I think I think I kind of like a Houston Buffalo Conference title game.

I picked Seattle Houston for the Super Bowl, but I'm starting to wonder if maybe I should have picked Buffalo Seattle.

Speaker 3

But you're with me, So you're with me on Houston.

You're with me on Buffalo.

Yeah.

Speaker 2

Yeah, And maybe we're disrespecting Denver and New England.

But after watching New England last night, I don't feel any better.

I mean, their defense was all over Herbert, but everybody's been all over Herbert.

He's missing both two starting tackles.

Yeah, by the way, Slater had the same in did the ruptured Potello's Eddy, But but he had right at the beginning of the season, so he'll be back for for n All and Slater.

The offensive line was just ranged, just a sieve man a sieve.

But when I think Josh Allen, I feel like it might be different.

I think New England's gonna be a problem for a long time.

I don't know if this is the year where the Patriots get to a Super Bowl, but for their fans back they've been through so much over the years.

I hope the Patriot fans can find the experience of happiness, and I.

Speaker 3

Feel good for them, man, feel good for them.

Speaker 2

No, but I think I'm almost one of them, the super almost kind of rooting for Buffalo because I think that fan base really got to deserve.

Speaker 3

I like Bills fans.

Speaker 2

I mean they are a little bit like cousin Eddie and uh and Christmas vacation.

They are a little bit like you can't take them anywhere type thing.

But there's a charm to that.

There's a damn charm to that.

All right, So what did you think?

But what else sticks out?

I mean the fact that you had the first four games Panthers included, and they all went down to the wire.

They all had multiple fourth quarterly changes, they all had a game winning touchdown in the final three minutes.

I just I really love how tightly packed this playoff field is, how unpredictable these games are.

What else stuck out to you that you wanted to mention bone about the NFL games?

First of all, they were tremendous and I think the parody across the league.

You said it weeks ago how good these playoffs are going to be, and I think it's gonna continue to be that Seattle, San Francisco will be fun next weekend, Buffalo Denver.

Speaker 3

We talked about.

Speaker 2

It just sets up for I just think out of six games this weere out of the game so far this weekend.

The only one that was really kind of a was Chargers Patriots, and that was at the end of the day.

We're all kind of probably worn out anyway.

So what a weekend.

And yeah, I can't wait for the next round of games.

And tonight we'll see.

This is interesting tonight too.

It's Aaron Rodgers.

This is the last go against a young, upcoming Houston team, so there's been so many storylines.

Go what Rams Bears next week.

I think it's gonna be a fun, fun matchup.

So I think this is for the Panther's not being involved anymore, or my intrigue level was still very high yesterday.

Sometimes it doesn't happen that way, right, Sometimes the team, your team will get knocked out.

He's I don't care right now.

I was deflated, like I wasn't like I was there, But but how can you not love those finishes?

Speaker 3

I know I.

Speaker 2

Kind of took it easy after the Panther game Saturday, though, and I kind of just zoned out, didn't really watch the Hornets or Packers Bears at the end, and I woke up to absolute mass chaos off the Hornet scoring three thousand points and the Bears doing something incredible.

And that was a good night of TV, those two things happening on each screen dark listening to Fleetwood Mac, I the Bears come back.

I mean, I hate their fans and they're they're annoying when it comes to old Bryce thing.

But you got to give Ben Johnson his love.

He's a dude man as a coach, Yes, and I love how he f's with the floor, the hands, the awkward handshakes, the f the Packers stuff.

Speaker 3

That I thought he did right, heah.

Speaker 2

He's got He's not your normal offensive boy.

Wonder you got a little bit of dog game them, a little bit of badass in them.

Speaker 3

I will say this, good for DJ Moore.

Speaker 2

Another game winner against the Packers, that Caleb Williams pass on fourth and eight rolling to the left was absurd.

Oh my god, absurd to place the ball like that when you are moving your left like that and under pressure the Hornets game.

I'm not gonna lie to you.

I cheered that Hornets game, you'd have thought they were in the NBA Finals.

Speaker 3

I don't know what it was.

Speaker 2

I wanted something good to happen to Charlotte.

I realized Bone that wasn't quite just not quite as important as the game the Panthers played.

But on Taw may have stot out four or five starter.

Yeah, Utah may have asked for a whooping.

They might have been over and pulled the pants down, you know what I mean, like by by sitting guys out.

By Tom, I thoroughly enjoyed the Hornets doing that.

Speaker 3

And here's the thing.

Speaker 2

You're gonna say something about a Utah whooping, but I'm just not saying.

Speaker 3

Leave it at that.

Speaker 2

They could sit out four guys and still doesn't make the Hornets a twenty four to three.

No, no, no, they were on fire and we've seen you saw it against When this team is sharing the ball and everybody's getting a shot and they are all together hitting, whoo, they're a game.

Speaker 3

Their a game is something to behold.

Now.

Speaker 2

The problem is Bone, they could just as easily show an f game and lose to the Pacers.

You know, speaking of that, I saw the craziest stat this weekend that the Hornets.

This is off the Pacer game the other night.

They are zero to nine over the last three seasons.

When they play the current worst team in the East, Oh my god, I believe it, they're two and twelve if you count the West.

So when they're playing the worst teams in basketball at that point in the season, they are two and twelve the last three season.

Speaker 3

Oh what?

Speaker 2

Because remember two years ago it was a Pistons problem.

Remember the pitchings were terrible, but we couldn't beat them.

Last year it was the Wizards, and this year it's been the Pacer so far.

So when they're playing the worst teams in the East, they cannot beat those teams.

Yeah, it's that's frustrating as hell because you see what they're capable of doing.

Granny Patch as I hope Aaron Rodgers gets a butt whoop in tonight.

I think he will be daneil Hunter and Will Anderson I think they're I'm in for that geezer tonight personally.

Yeah.

Now, I'm not saying the Steelers defense can't keep them in the game, but like, if we think Rogers is going to do to things like he did against Baltimore, I ain't buying that.

Speaker 3

Let's see here this.

Speaker 2

We're to play the Clippers and Coppers have won nine of eleven, so this is gonna be god their good night.

Yeah, Kawhi has been on fire.

So interesting.

Oh but again he should he take a night off?

He could also sit tonight.

Yeah, I feel like he should take a night off.

What so they they they got rid of Chris Paul and got better bone.

Man, that would never happen.

Speaker 3

You do that for man?

Speaker 2

Remember last time we saw those Clippers though James Harden had fifty plus points.

Speaker 3

Can we keep them under fifty?

Y'all?

Keep them under fifty?

Speaker 2

To night boy say, yeah, it's a long week back of late night hoops.

We have the Hornets on the West coast, and as Fitty reminded us today, on Wednesday, you have UNC playing at nine against Stanford, and you have Duke playing at col at eleven PM one.

I don't like all these West So these are three nights with West Coast games involving, like you know, Duke or the horn I can't sleep.

I can't sleep with Duke's playing.

I don't like that they have a Washington.

The Bone's gonna be up smacking the floor.

At midnight.

Baby, he's gonna get down in the wojo stance.

This texture says, uh, let's see here, Mac, you want to take your words back about the wolf Pack.

You were critical because they didn't get enough style points against BC.

Uh.

Yeah, well, I just I was motivation.

I just wanted more from him.

One thirteen sixty nine over a Florida State team that was pretty competitive against UNC and Duke.

I will point out that was good to see.

Speaker 4

Man.

Speaker 3

I need more of that now.

Speaker 2

Again, they're not going to hit all those threes every night, but they are pretty good shooting team.

But I need more of that man from them.

I may get confession about that game.

Speaker 3

What's that?

Speaker 2

I had Florida State plus four and a half, Oh my god, plus four.

I just I just saw them play Duke toff and he States went up and down?

I thought, look can they can they cover that bad boy?

And it turns out Mac, I was, uh, do some math here A little bit off there.

I need more of that man able off the bench is starting to get it going.

That's a good site.

Need more of that.

What did y'all think about the hoop stuff?

Man?

Like?

Uh?

Duke continues to have problems defensively.

They got in a battle with SMU, who's good, but Boopy Miller, whose first team All Conference might be an All American, was sick and didn't play in the game.

So I'm glad that Duke is finding ways to win.

But why were they dominant in the non conference.

They've gotten to the conference part of the season and it feels like every every night's a battle here.

The best they looked those against a Louisville in the second half.

To be honest with you, I was surprised.

Like first of all, full disclosure, Bone, I did not see a second of a of those games till yesterday while you.

Speaker 3

Were doing your I watched.

Speaker 2

I watched all those games yesterday I did, and yeah, I was I thought that they'd win by double digits when I found out Boopy didn't play SMU.

To their credit, they got some ballers on that team.

It really makes it look when you look at how good Clemson did defensively when Boopy did play like it really is a feather in Clemson's cat Duke.

Speaker 3

But we'll get to Fitty momentarily.

Two points on Duke.

Speaker 2

Isaiah Evans continues to play at a much higher level helping out.

Cameron Boozer actually had more points than Boozer the other day.

Another lineup change for Duke to go more defensive.

Malike Brown starting lineup for Big Pat and Dome Sar now in the start Sars defense wise for steals in the first half.

Yeah, they went full defensive mindset.

They are to try to help things out.

They forced so many turnovers in at first and of course they get down eleven nothing but they but they forced so many turnovers in that first half.

Speaker 3

Get them back in the Gameame.

Speaker 2

Pat had seventeen off the bank, he responded, He responded to be in bench.

Caden Boozer had a nice game.

Will you think, Fitty Wake Forest that game was looking That game looks so good in parts, but holy crap.

You know if I was watching that live out of been nervous as hell.

Yeah, I think I told Colin when he got back to the station.

Were the worst fourteen and two basketball team I've ever seen.

You give but fourteen threes after allowing thirteen to set a week a.

Speaker 4

Yeah, you miss ten more free throws and are two bigs who they could not stop in the game.

Caleb Wilson two shot attempts in the second half, Henry Vassar one shot in the final twelve minutes.

Speaker 3

What are you doing, like Hubert, if the guards aren't.

Speaker 4

Going to give them the ball, you put the guards on the bench and you play guys that'll give big men the ball.

Speaker 2

Same thing happening against Smu Wilson in the second half.

Speaker 4

Like Caleb, Wilson also needs to be empowered.

You're the best player on this roster.

Speaker 2

You got to demand that rock going to the huddle, and you can say it the Hubert Davis way, or you can say it the mean way and look them in the face and tell them you give me the ball because better things happen when I touch it, as opposed to Kian Evans and these guards that can't shoot bricking threes, I will say this, the defense is definitely a concern.

Calme's hit some tough shots though for Wake the high low passing between those two.

They work so well together though, which speaks to your point vide of why are they both not getting touches?

But the way Vsar and Caleb set each other up is a beautiful thing.

The Sar gets great position too, He's always like right under the basket.

He doesn't have to do a whole lot.

He just Wilson finds him and he doesn't have to move a whole lot.

Really, he's like floundering the Bojangles drive through.

This find needs to be great position.

He's just right there for the things.

He snatches that box of chicken Shata showders.

The guy have a Patriot's hangover today.

Oh God, shading you drinking all the damn uh, Sam Adams.

Speaker 3

Last night I watched watching your Pats.

Speaker 2

Play when we come back, a first look at the off season for the Panthers.

Averro's getting head coach interviews and Rico could be looking to leave and now there's a line uncertainty as well.

Sports RADIOZ.

Speaker 5

I'm really excited about his chemistry with Bryce and where they've grown.

When when Jalen came back to us, you know, middle of the season and uh, finding ways to get him on routes that he can execute, and uh, he just finds a way to win, you know, and generally the ball goes his direction, you can count it as a catch.

And uh, he and Bryce have just you know, worked tirelessly on a daily basis to get that chemistry to the point where you know this, This game was a huge one for him.

Speaker 3

Love the Jalen Cocher to coke Man brought it on.

Speaker 2

And when I say coke Man, I'm not talking about like the Matt Khalil type of one, all right, I'm talking about.

Speaker 3

Ja conquer although I do not know for sure.

Speaker 2

I do not know for sure, but anyway, his uh, it's this is something I should know.

It's his is uh M Khalil's ex wife an actress?

Is that your model?

She was an SI swimsuit, she was at the Condition, she was at the Golden Globes last night?

Speaker 6

Was she?

Speaker 3

Yes?

Speaker 2

All right, insert your jokes there.

You want to you got one bone or you just want to get.

Speaker 3

That on the wreck now?

Speaker 2

Oh man, it's gonna help her career, isn't it.

It's gonna get her more notoriety.

Yeah, because ex husband.

What if she's on a Coca Cola commercial?

Why have what can you can have to?

Or is Matt gonna be on the Coca Cola commercials Oh, I didn't get to make my joke last week that next time they need someone a panther of the past to pound to keep pounding drum, they should call mat Khalil.

I can't, I can't explain further.

Yeah, just let your mind run wild, everybody, I can.

Anyway, let's get back to business here, ladies and gentlemen.

Speaker 3

That story.

Google that one, y'all.

Speaker 2

If y'all don't know that one, don't know what we're goofing off about, all right, but anyway, shout out to Jalen Coker.

T Mack brought it as well, even brought out the dab on one of his post catch celebrations in honor a cam.

Shout out to Bryce.

There wasn't a lot of running game.

I thought Cuba earned his yards, thought Rico struggled again.

I thought a lot of the run blocking struggle.

But in fairness, Hunt was just back and still hurting, and Ikey went out, Those are two good run blockers right there.

But we got to find a way to run the ball better.

But I am I'm with Canalis.

I'm so stoked to see Bryce, t Mac and Coker together for another year.

I'm with you, Bone.

Let's still add another weapon or too to the mix.

But I think I think that could be a real good trio next year.

Man, They're all still grow They're all still growing.

Yeah, this is just the beginning.

This isn't the end of something.

This isn't like a team is going to break up and they're cash strap.

No, this is just the beginning.

And I think that's why there's not a lot of sadness.

There's disappointment, but there's also a lot of hope here.

There's a lot of hope for the future, that the worst is behind us now and the best days are get to come.

Right and look at the NFL.

I mean, look how close these teams are together.

So the Panthers are now in that mix.

You make the right moves this off season, who knows what you're stealing could be Look where Seattle was recently and in a short period of time.

They're the best eam in football right now.

Absolutely, I'm saying next year Panther's best even football.

Speaker 3

Clearly be aggressive.

Speaker 2

Dan Morgan all right, let's get to some of these guys that you know, some of these guys that could be leaving here, and what do we do.

Let's start with Rico and let's play this clipfitty of Rico's Q and A as he was asked.

Speaker 3

He got asked point blank twice.

Speaker 2

This is the second time he got asked, do you want to be back in Carolina?

Speaker 3

Listen to this response.

Speaker 7

I don't really know right now.

I really don't have to answer us for that question.

I want to be back and that I'm just going to see how things go.

Speaker 8

Down to stretch your splaying time, your reps kind of decreased from what they were earlier in the season.

Speaker 3

Does that impact your thinking in terms of the future here and where you want to be take all that into account for sure, so you know it is what it is.

Speaker 7

I only can control what I can control and go from there, but that definitely plays a factor in it.

Speaker 8

Do you think you.

Speaker 7

Have no idea?

Speaker 8

You did everything?

Speaker 3

An explanation?

Speaker 2

How is that?

Speaker 3

Can you just expand on how that'll be part of your thinking?

Speaker 7

Just obviously for me just wanting to be a guy to go out there and just get the boat and try and let it run have it.

Like I said, I think my game just shows like the more I get throughout the game, the stronger and better I get.

So I just want to take that into consideration from how it played out the past last couple of weeks.

But you know, we had two great guys in the backfield, so you know it'd be hard sometimes and got it this fine way to figure it out.

Speaker 2

And know that he hasn't been happy since Cuba came back and got more carries, because remember after the Niner game he did the squiggly eye emoji thing where the media had to ask him what that meant, and then Canalis has asked about it and they downplayed it.

But he is not He has not been in the right mindset.

It feels like Mac for about six weeks or so right now.

He also it's been not in his last nine games, he has averaged more than three point two yards of carry twice.

Like it's pretty self explanatory of why you're not getting the carries you got earlier in the season.

The production's not the same.

And I'm not saying it's all on him, but I think most of us believe Rico has been running it better down the stretch, still hadn't been great.

Speaker 3

I think that's me.

Cuba, Yeah, yeah, he got it.

Speaker 2

Thank you for helping me, helped me work through my issues.

The last time you smacked yourself around here, I'm no more smacking.

I'm still feeling that last one.

And Cuba's back.

She was on the contract.

Speaker 3

I I think I.

Speaker 2

Think it's time to move on.

He sounds like a guy that probably wants to move on.

I think the Panthers were probably at some point in the middle of the season thinking do.

Speaker 3

We want to pay a second running back?

Speaker 2

But I think now bone that's a position where you can if you need to get another back to go with Cuba, go with Brooks who's coming back.

They're not pricey, it's not one of these things you got to worry about.

So I just it feels like he's one foot out the door.

And I would think the Panthers, the way the season finished, I would think that they'd be okay with him.

Speaker 3

Leave it.

Speaker 2

And you invested a lot in Suba money wise and draft pick and trade up for Jonathan Brooks, So you've invested more in those two than you have Rico on the one year deal.

Eventually you have to see what you have in Brooks.

You have to do it.

So he's going to need an opportunity to show that he's healthy.

We'll see what happens.

Mag I'm not saying Rico fell out a favor with the text line, but a Texter today spelled his name rock Odoodle.

I was like, who, guy said Roco?

I said, no, it's Rico doubtll not Roco doodle Doodle.

He would have never called him that after the Dallas or Miami again, Roco Doodle Rocko doodles who played down the stretch.

We've got a text that says he gone, Brooks is gonna merge with a bionic knee and shred defenses.

This dude said, are we really sure that you could trust Jonathan Brooks with the two torn acls.

Here's the thing, He's got to get a chance.

He is a talented back.

There's the reason he was the first running back taken on talent.

I thought he deserved that.

Do you need to add another veteran bone?

Like?

Do you feel okay with just Cuba, Brooks and Etn?

Or as battle hag Nation points out, look at the Bears, who just gotten a young guy in the seventh round?

Can you find someone you know whoe was the main guy?

You're hoping Brooks is a compliment.

We'll see what he is and then maybe you get air.

Although maybe maybe you think Etn's that guy.

Speaker 3

Don't know.

Speaker 2

That's just what I'm asking.

Do you feel good about just those three?

Like I really don't.

No, I need more, you know, because I don't know.

But that's a good point about you.

You could get a good back all over the place.

Man, it's weird to drive.

Brooks is such an unknown that I don't really know what to think.

I mean, could he come in here and be productive?

Sure he could, I could definitely say.

Could he also take a while to get going.

I don't want him to happen, ye get hurt again.

Speaker 3

I can't.

Speaker 2

I can't put all my eggs in the Brooks basket here either.

Speaker 3

I have to.

Speaker 2

I mean, I know she was there too, But what do we think about the icky thing?

So Ikey has a torn peltel a tendon and he is this is a serious one.

This requires surgery.

I hate it for him.

And this is one bone where I don't think we quite have any idea.

Speaker 3

You have the clip.

You got the clip, right, Fiddy?

Speaker 2

Where Canalis talks about how that affects their offseason?

This is I'm sure they're scrambling to kind of research this and talk to doctors.

How long do you think this will take?

Well, this is what Canal has said about how this affects their off season plans.

They already have a like Nyman's already a free agent a tackle, so they already might be looking to bring it in a tackle.

Speaker 5

It certainly is something that we have to consider, you know, just depending on the duration of the injury, you know, knowing that we're going to go through a full off season and what's the timeline wise, and how does that affect training camp and roster numbers and all that.

Speaker 2

So there you go.

It didn't really have much to say.

What do you think about this bone?

Like now some people are on the text line saying you got to use a first round pick on a tackle?

Now, I don't know why.

There is a question now what does this do for Ikey's not just immediate future, but Ikey's contract situation as well.

I think Rob Hunt was talking about that yesterday about it's not just the timing of the injury for Ikey no matter when, that's difficult, but it's the timing of end of the season's tough because that's going to put your next season to jeopardy.

And it's contract situation.

He's right there for a new one and now he gets hurt.

So I don't know if the first round people want Brady Christiansen to.

Speaker 3

Play left tackle.

Speaker 2

A lot of people are saying Brady C but that he's coming off injury too, right, he's coming off injury.

He's a free agent, by the way, and he just took a very, very cheap deal for the last year.

Speaker 3

Here's the thing.

Speaker 2

I don't think they view him as a tackle, and we know Matt ral didn't, but I'm not sure they view him as a tackle, bone because they played Nyman over him.

Yeah, and I didn't think Nyman was exactly Orlando Pace.

Speaker 3

I didn't as a left tackle.

Place the Ikey here.

Speaker 2

I mean, I wouldn't mind him getting a shot, but I don't know if this brass thinks of him that way.

The offensive line situation would be interesting.

Bone, Ikey's got this injury.

Nyman's a free agent, Brady C is a free agent, Horbit's a free agent, and May's is a free agent for a team that brought everybody back last year.

Now, it's the lot of them got one year deals.

That's why, like a lot of those guys were free agents last year too.

Niman's deal was two years.

So anyway, they got a lot of things.

I will say this about two things about Ikey because I did some research on pateller tendon.

I keep saying this one that Nikobe Dean from the Eagles Taurres patteller tendon bone in the wildcard round last year and played in the season opener.

So that's seven months.

That's definitely possible.

That is in the doctor bone span by the way that you gave me of six to twelve months BO seven, basing that off my experience of er graison out of me in general hospital.

Jimmy Graham got hurt in December a month earlier with same injury when Canalis was with Jimmy Graham and Seattle, and Jimmy Graham came back for the start of the regular season.

So I think, I don't want to I don't want to act like I know what I'm talking about, because you don't know like what varying degree, what injury.

You don't know how it injury is, like is it tougher on a big man?

Stuff like that.

Now, unfortunately, and this speaks to your whole contract thing.

I did read an article bone They did a whole like study of how guys play after this particular injury.

You can you can google this and find this online.

It's like twenty one per scent reach the same performance levels when it comes to PFF grades.

It's an injury that unfortunately, it seems like the research indicates hurts you long term in performance.

Oh man, So that's another part of this too.

For a guy who's had trouble in the past with some of the past protection stuff too.

I wonder it's not like moving ahead in the run game.

It's movement.

Yeah, I'm not an offensive line.

How does it affect that lateral movement which sometimes, to your point, struggles.

This dude says, get that bomb of arrow out of it.

We hadn't hurt from a guy like this, at least a good hour man.

Where y'all been is a text or as a textor added an idea for a left tackle by the way, here, who's that?

How much does Matte have left in his head?

How much they have left in the can?

Speaker 3

Baby?

Uh?

What about xcel microphone?

What about beefing excel up?

Speaker 2

We already have about ten texters today that want a beef XL up to play tight.

Yeah, don't just beef him up, play tackle the AVO thing.

So here's where it stands, Dave Canalis said yesterday he's our defensive coordinator.

He admitted that he had been given a contract extension so his contract doesn't expire at the end of the season.

Speaker 3

A team spokesman.

Speaker 2

Said it was dealt with he got the new contract last offseason.

But Atlanta and Las Vegas have requested head coaching interviews.

So I guess there's a whirl where he becomes to you know, gets a head coaching job and leaves.

I don't know how to handicap his chances of that.

I hope those are legit interviews for him.

By the way, I hope those are like teams that actually want a Varo to be their head coach.

I hope this isn't trying to do the Rooney rule thing.

I hope like they actually want a Varo.

Speaker 3

Yeah.

Speaker 2

I have not seen full lists for them yet to see, Hey, you know how many you know, minorities are on the lists and all that sort of stuff.

But yeah, unfortunately, you know, that's that's what these guys have to deal with when they get interviews.

He's had interviews before.

I believe Atlanta interviewed him.

If I'm not mistaken in the past, I kind of I have always kind of thought the way he handles himself, Like I could see that guy be a leader of men, head coach, you know.

But I also kind of look at the season he had, and you know, me, Bone, I've been one of his biggest defenders when METI of y'all has had me nasty things about him, including this morning when talking the soft approach to the final drive?

Is this the season that earns him a head coaching job?

Like it was a good, solid season.

They were much improved, but like, I wouldn't be that happy if my team hired the head coach at a fifteenth best dat you know what I mean.

It wasn't like some stellar season where I could be like, oh yeah, I think he's gone on that season.

Speaker 3

I can see one.

Speaker 2

More season it's improved personnel, where he gets back in there, maybe they're in the top ten, and then maybe he gets the job.

I was kind of looking at it that way.

He's one more year, like he was close before, step back, hopefully close again the next round, coming back he goes from my top If he goes from worse ever to top ten in two years, that's gonna be able to sell the other team.

Speaker 3

Yeah, that's kind of and the Raiders.

Speaker 2

Mac would never make highers at their fan base hasn't prove of that is true, though this is the Raiders.

People can't be dying to work for that old U for old Davis Junior there, you know what I mean.

Speaker 3

So I don't know do.

Speaker 2

They end up getting a guy that maybe isn't one of the best candidates.

This Texter says the way Mack loves a Varo, I need to ask this question.

Would you rather lose a Varo to Atlanta or have Harpball go to Atlanta?

Speaker 3

That's a hell of a question.

Speaker 2

I love double.

I think I'd rather he go.

I gotta be honest.

Harpball would shake me a bit because he is so good man.

He can and he's not an offensive coach or defensive coach.

Was a great leader, and he's respected.

Although he may have gone a little bit too much at the end their time to go.

But I think that he can galvanize a group.

Twelve out of eighteen years in the playoffs, never had a only had one, only had one season in eighteen that was less than eight wins.

So I just I would hate for him to go to Atlanta.

Would also hate for Tampa to go Oh, by the way, Todd Balls, you're out of here.

Jim Harbaugh.

Uh, John Harbaugh's coming in.

I would I would not want him in the South at all.

So you would rather lose a varos I think so, yeah, yeah, not saying I want.

Speaker 3

Him out, No, I think, don't.

Don't spin my word yall.

Speaker 2

But like that Harball thing, I am just because we're all I want him somewhere else, a shammed up in the South right now, Harball could be a separator, you know what I'm saying.

Like Harball could take them from and hopefully the Panthers can go up.

But I would hate for Harbaugh to get them on like a ten to eleven win plane, and that separates thest definitely.

When we come back, the wrap up including the Hornets in action tonight and uh that's we got going on, all right, we'll find out sports radio football.

Speaker 3

Oh yeah, those I'm out.

I'm out.

They've just been on the texts sports radio ninety.

Speaker 6

It means a lot.

Speaker 3

It means the world.

Speaker 6

And I couldn't have done this without God.

And this is just such a great opportunity for my entire team.

Like pac who gets said, we're a bunch of misfits.

There's zero five stars on our team.

We're just a bunch of greedy guys who are glue together and going towards the tom and goal, which is to win every each and single game.

Speaker 2

There he is superstar quarterback Fernando Mendoza from the Indiana Hoosiers.

That is the New York Butcher Shop cut of the day.

Follow them on Instagram for daily specials and meal deals n y Butcher Wine Bar Today's meal deals six dollars meatballs, three dollars drop beer, five dollars wine.

Bill Worth, Cornelia is Indian Land, Fort Mile and Carrie Belmont very soon.

There is the always mag very hyper uh Mendoza, your guy.

I love list of that man talk after in W although I hope, I hope he doesn't have one more W left in them.

I will say this, and I don't know if if Miami fans like this or not.

Speaker 3

Bone.

Speaker 2

I am not deterred by the fact that Indiana slob or knocked the heck out of Oregon.

I still think the Canes are pulling off the upset.

But you said that the points spread swung dramatically.

Yeah, the other day when we looked at it after Miami's win, it was three and a half and the last time I checked, I will double check again here, but it was seven and a half.

I believe on Saturday.

I love that Miami the points though.

I don't know if I'm missing something, I'm an idiot.

I just think the game is going to be completely different with the way Miami.

Indiana beats the breaks off people in the trenches, and they're not gonna be able to do that against Miami.

Speaker 3

Seven and a half for Indiana.

You like that fit, You like that take Miami in the points?

Speaker 2

Yeah?

I like that too.

You like Miami and the points, bony No, I'm Indiana woo.

Indiana's playing at a level right now that minds me of like those all time great team types runs like LSU twenty nineteen.

They're just dismantling folks.

Although Ohio State at Helva run last year too, but they are just dismantling their opponents as good as Indiana.

They made Oregon look just downright silly that turnovers were the game though, right like the turnovers were worth twenty one points there.

If Miami doesn't turn it over, it Beck turns it over, all bets are off.

But if Miami doesn't turn it over and hand them points and hand them short fields.

Speaker 3

Could they do it?

I know this.

Speaker 2

I watched Miami Plohio State.

I watched Indiana play Ohio State.

Look pretty similar.

Both close games.

Yeah, I'm just riding Indiana close, but I'll take Indiana.

Did you see Mendoza mac say the other day what social media platform he uses?

It's not Facebook, It's not Twitter, not Instagram, not TikTok.

He's big on LinkedIn that tracks.

That definitely fits what you think of this eager overachiever.

There's no doubt about it.

Oh my goodn yess.

He'd rather look at at he would rather look at a woman's LinkedIn profile that her Instagram picks.

Speaker 8

I could see that, where did she go to school?

I could definitely see that, what is her degree in?

But look at this picture she went on a guy with a camo.

What her degree is in?

With a great point, Mendoza could be going to Vegas with the Raiders.

That would be quite the quite the one.

Oh that would be loud buddy, the alf in.

Speaker 3

New York City.

Speaker 2

Those women don't wear clothes.

Wow, what's legal here?

Oh my gosh, he's so wholesome man.

He is, all right, can be asking to strip for what her LinkedIn name is.

Let's read some of these I'm think of your profile page for your strip.

Let's read some of these texts.

Seven O four five, seven oh nine sixtent So the Hornets are late tonight against the Clippers ten thirty.

Speaker 3

Pregame is at nine thirty.

Speaker 2

The bone Man gets relief on the West Coast pregame, so it'll be KB and Willie p right tonight.

Reason they don't think I can stay up that way.

I'm not sure why?

Why would they falling asleep last year?

Okay, whatever, and then you got Houston and Pittsburgh the final game of wild Card weekend.

Let's read some of these texts here.

This texter said the More Carries Moving Company is ready to send Dabel out, all right, all right, there you have it.

Yeah that just when he came out and couldn't even do the thing.

What free agent ever says he doesn't want to be back unless unless something really happen, right, Most free agents don't say they'll all act like they want to be back.

When Rico said, yeah, I don't really know how to answer that question like that probably tells you all you need to know right there?

Are we gonna mention yet?

What happened with DVR Dave yesterday?

Or is that not gonna go on the air?

Is that gonna go off?

Speaker 4

There?

Speaker 3

DVR Dave getting himself in trouble in our parking.

Speaker 2

Dr Dave tried to park here before the game on Saturday, I should say, and he showed up, drove in in his Reaper costume, didn't put it on.

He drove in wearing the mask, and he scared people in the parking Why I got rent off And then with me and Videore trying to figure out what happened because he said he almost got arrested, and we said, well what why?

We didn't realize he was wearing the costume.

Like in this day and age dude rolled up to a news organization wearing a reaper costume?

Speaker 3

Does he does he drive with that thing?

Speaker 2

Bro?

We bro, we can't put that reaper mask on the seat next to you and just drive.

Speaker 3

I don't know, Sam, why Dave had to drive and that whole thing.

Speaker 2

By the way, I looked at Rovid traffic and I look over and that dude's next to me.

Speaker 3

I'm just giving my wallet.

Speaker 2

I looked down at the doghouse crowd, which was unbelievable.

By the way, it really felt like twenty fifteen out there.

It felt like twenty fifteen at the stadium.

It was so cool until that final drive.

But anyway, I look out a DVR Dave.

He is sitting down at a table full Reaper costume, mask and everything, talking to two twenty something women.

Yeah, and it's just like, would you be at that table if you had your mask off?

No, if I was a woman, I would not.

I mean, if I was a man, I would not.

I have a man would That's a good point.

Would the ladies be sitting there with you if you had your mask off?

Speaker 3

I think they felt.

Speaker 2

They felt like they were in a situation back where they they couldn't get away from him.

Oh God, Dave, honestly, let me read more of these texts here.

This text or says, if Bryce lifts weights like one of the listeners suggested, and comes back buff, I I would predict he looks like Jay Lazer.

Jay Laser is a short, little buff fella.

Speaker 3

Ainty.

He looked like Data Carvey's character mack in Uh, a haunted Franz.

Speaker 2

Back in the day, somebody sent me a picture.

It was Chad of Willie p Man draped Willie p calling an FC game while draped in an FC flag.

Speaker 3

Is this a real thing?

Yeah?

Speaker 2

Yeah, Pee, you keep that energy, baby.

I love that energy.

If I I will never do this.

But if I was ever a broadcaster bone on my team's network, I would drape myself in a flag too.

Speaker 3

Pe Man, you keep that energy.

Baby.

Speaker 2

Let's see here short arm Brady christians in a tackle.

Yeah, there is a movement.

There is a Brady Christiansen tackle movement.

I just don't think Dave canals Bone is a part of that movement.

Speaker 3

Won't get it all.

Speaker 2

Won't get a lot of holding calls with his Dino arms.

This dude looking like Kevin Willis from back at the NBA back in the day.

This dude says, Panthers improving year after year.

Speaker 3

I love it.

Speaker 2

Although Michael Jordan would have fired Dave Canalis after this season.

All right, anyway, Jay's still getting shots.

All right, y'all, we're out of here.

Someone wants us to montage or misery Philadelphia and just check in it it's the other doing.

Or we could just montage ourselves, and we weren't that miserable except for the six o'clockers.

That's six o'clock early seven o'clock Panther fan energy today.

Speaker 3

Was angry man.

Yeah, it was angry, y'all.

We look it up.

Speaker 2

Let's keep it pretty excitement tomorrow, Richie.

All right, let's we're out of here.

Good work out of the bone man, good work out of the fit dog, Great work out of y'all.

Amazing workout of y'all at the stadium on Saturday night.

Speaker 3

We'll talk to you on moraw
