Episode Transcript
[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the Forty K-Lorecast.
[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to Forty-K-Lorecast with me John Barisade and Brad Chester.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's go.
[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, Brad, how much sleep do you get last night?
[SPEAKER_01]: Carry the one zero?
[SPEAKER_01]: I did change my shirt for you because I thought about it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so we are recording this show about 13 hours after we've recorded the last one.
[SPEAKER_00]: One of us, I'd probably got like six hours of sleep, which is an impossible number more than Brad, because he got zero.
[SPEAKER_00]: I can't even give you the percentage.
[SPEAKER_00]: So one of us feels fresher.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think I look fantastic.
[SPEAKER_01]: We should be live for this.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: The good thing is if thanks to your heart and brain, you can easily consume lots of caffeine, because I feel better, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'd never like you.
[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, today we're going to jump into all the models John used to own his ultramarmy and amissing now because of this cast.
[SPEAKER_00]: Are some of them not that interesting?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa.
[SPEAKER_01]: How did you, the Smurge, the good name of telly on, and Krodos, because I know you don't know what Krodos is.
[SPEAKER_01]: Do you?
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I've sold them all.
[SPEAKER_00]: Unfortunately, I did sell the entire army off, and I will be honest, all of these models on the board are mostly kind of okay, but they all in the lore have hilariously over the top stories.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I was trying to think about it.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm wondering if the Ultramarines have the most OP stories for random dudes.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's simply because their random guys are always in like two and three-day fights.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's why.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I'm not taking away from Dante or Grimnar or any of those people.
[SPEAKER_00]: They have epic stories.
[SPEAKER_00]: The thing is the Ultramarines will have Ted.
[SPEAKER_00]: And what did what did Ted do?
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, Ted punched two carnifixes to death with his bare hands.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so also of note today, I mentioned last week when we say again, we are not gonna cover tightest today and that's cause we're gonna do a full cast on the space brewing games.
[SPEAKER_00]: Just like we're gonna be doing some full cast and a dawn of war games.
[SPEAKER_00]: We get into the end of 2025 with some updates happening to those games.
[SPEAKER_00]: But, [SPEAKER_01]: Before we go, this is also John's fault because I've been trying to do space main games forever.
[SPEAKER_01]: And we said we couldn't do them early because we would spoil things for people.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, this is hurtful, but we're doing it now.
[SPEAKER_01]: Some line of my sad things.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's true.
[SPEAKER_00]: Eventually.
[SPEAKER_00]: We got to tell him eventually.
[SPEAKER_00]: 40K Lordcast, weekly show on the Law of Warhammer 40K Universe, releasing every Monday at 7 p.m.
[SPEAKER_00]: Please continue to stand at time.
[SPEAKER_00]: Eastern Standard Time.
[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_00]: Big thank you to everybody who's been commenting so far.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's incredible way for us to get pushed out.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're the number one more hammered Lordcast in the world right now, and that's thanks to all of you listeners.
[SPEAKER_00]: So huge thank you there.
[SPEAKER_00]: Additionally, if you've enjoyed Brad and I, and want more of us, you can click the link or your YouTube page, where you can find the 40K lorecast YouTube.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's going to be old versions of the show that we've converted over with imagery and subtitles, all of our live Q&A sessions, and our other shows, the history of 40K, the focus on the history of the tabletop of the game, and two old men in their handler, which is the focus more on the competitive side talking about individual units and what makes them good or not good within the game.
[SPEAKER_00]: Last little bit in the show notes, link to our Patreon.
[SPEAKER_00]: Massive, thank you to everyone who's contributed already.
[SPEAKER_00]: Anyone who's been listening long enough, knows the audio quality is mildly better than it used to be.
[SPEAKER_00]: Us.
[SPEAKER_00]: But more importantly, it's really helping us expand out and do a lot more with ourselves.
[SPEAKER_00]: We know people want more from us, and we want to do more with this.
[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks to the Patreon, we can afford to buy better equipment, put on some events, actually are traveling some events.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the way that our Patreon works is if you sign for a Patreon, you get the show and the history show, add free.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's only $4.99 US, or if you live in Palau, it's also $4.99 US, because they use the US dollar, despite not being part of the US.
[SPEAKER_00]: Do something called a compactive business.
[SPEAKER_01]: I need everyone to know.
[SPEAKER_01]: How excited you were when you found this out?
[SPEAKER_00]: And I didn't know you could do this.
[SPEAKER_00]: I assumed you couldn't just use someone else's currency as your own.
[SPEAKER_01]: Was the first five minutes of us recording?
[SPEAKER_01]: Was it just telling me about this?
[SPEAKER_00]: I learned this, yeah, what were you three minutes ago, five minutes ago, and wrote the notes, because I was going to cover something else about pull-out, which I do like, which is that it got a giant lake there called the jellyfish lake, where you can swim with millions of stingless jellyfish, which I'm going to be honest with you.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's a sign.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to read multiple times.
[SPEAKER_00]: When it says, hey, go ahead and jump in this lake.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's full of millions of jellyfish, but don't worry.
[SPEAKER_00]: They don't sting.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just going to go with I'm going in second but I do want to go there now because it's on super cool right last little bit though it's always discord we're over 10,000 members strong now which is an incredible achievement and I really want to thank everyone for joining it and being part of it.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a great place to come in, we've got everything from 40K Lord of talking about movies, to the best thing to eat with a fitness channel, is crushing.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's super friendly to new people and people that are experienced with the game, the Lord or the whatever.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just a really fun place to be.
[SPEAKER_01]: We also have one of my favorites, the meme page.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, Brad does love himself some memes.
[SPEAKER_00]: I hate it.
[SPEAKER_00]: I hate it.
[SPEAKER_00]: So if you haven't joined the links in the show notes, come on in.
[SPEAKER_00]: We [SPEAKER_00]: onto the heroes of the Imperium, the characters of the Ultramarines, and let, so we're going to start today with someone who I used to love putting on the board, mostly because my opponent would say, who is that?
[SPEAKER_00]: And I would say, it's Toriah's Talian, and then they would ask me, well, what does he do?
[SPEAKER_00]: And I would tell them, and they would give me a bewildered look, shrug their shoulders, just move on with their day, because to be fair, he was kind of useless, [SPEAKER_00]: But every now and then, exactly, he was not.
[SPEAKER_01]: I love everything about the fact that you knew his first name.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you would have put a gun to my head, I would have got to tell you.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's just telling you.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'll be honest, if I put a gun, you had to put seven altering characters on the board, I'm not sure if you could pick out Talian.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I guess he does a little sniper, but still he's going to sniper.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, all because all he did was he made your sniper's plus one to hit.
[SPEAKER_00]: But every now and then you put him near because before we lost in the legends, unfortunately, but you'd put him near scout squads and every time they'd pick off an enemy character.
[SPEAKER_00]: And an era of the game where that was a lot more devastating because it was really hard to shoot characters in eighth and ninth edition.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's dive into the story of Tauraya's Talian though.
[SPEAKER_00]: So first and foremost, he's a 300 year old scout, and for those of you who forgot and don't know, scouts are a fancy term for Neo fights, which are the new space marine initiates vying for their right to become full space marines.
[SPEAKER_00]: There are always teenagers, but there are teenagers that are filled with gene seed organs and steroids.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're becoming what they really are.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you go to our discord, we have a fantastic meme about me protecting my guys with my scouts.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Bride loves to take these child soldiers and sacrifice them to any melee combatants.
[SPEAKER_00]: Rejoice them.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's what they do.
[SPEAKER_01]: The suckers.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Of the end of making a little worse.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, rejoicing as world-eater berserker squads massacre the children keeping his cowardly elite space marine safe at a distance while watching children die.
[SPEAKER_00]: Just saying, that's what scouts are.
[SPEAKER_00]: Stop.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you play space marine, stop sacrificing your scouts to the enemies.
[SPEAKER_00]: Those are the future of your space marine army.
[SPEAKER_00]: Treat them.
[SPEAKER_00]: Chill ya.
[SPEAKER_00]: Children are our future.
[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway.
[SPEAKER_00]: Unlike Lucas, the trickster, though, Talian has never advanced beyond scout by choice.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is not a punishment.
[SPEAKER_00]: Talian has chosen to remain amongst the ranks and the affiliates for 300 years and counting, because unlike Brad, he recognizes that the children of the space marines are the future.
[SPEAKER_01]: He wants to guide them as opposed to making sure I'm not getting charged and turned one by world leaders.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, it's okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: Just go ahead and sacrifice them out and then don't complain when you have no space Marines left because you killed all your initiates.
[SPEAKER_00]: Talian knows he's one of the greatest warriors in the galaxy, but as one warrior, he can only affect a single battle at a time.
[SPEAKER_00]: So as a leader and as an educator of warriors, he can affect all of the battles, all over the galaxy.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so that's why he's just side to stay back in his progression through the Rex, choosing to stay a sergeant and training the aspirants of the Ultramarines to greatness.
[SPEAKER_00]: Which is actually really cool because if you think about it, that means that the scouts underneath him are being trained by one of the greatest warriors within all of the Ultramarines.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of a good deal.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm thinking of a Starship Troopers, whatever that guy's name was, who was training them all in basic training.
[SPEAKER_01]: in my client side.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but no, no, I do the neighbors who needs to know who he is in the movie.
[SPEAKER_01]: It, my client side plays my client side.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's often every single movie.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, we should mention that Talian, by the way, is good at everything, but he's especially good.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's listen though, he can, he's a master of hand-to-hand combat masters, but what he really is good at is sneaking and shooting.
[SPEAKER_00]: He, depending on what you're reading, he's kind of a vinda carousassin.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's some crazy lore in the fact that he's taken out some big targets, but he's also been the super sneaky sniper guy from the movies that is inside the defenses of the enemy and doing all kinds of crazy stuff.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's not a bunch of old options, too.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's it.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's like, so an example is, yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: I will say his plot armor is like terminator thick, so when he does stuff, it is super over the top.
[SPEAKER_00]: So for example, they're fighting chaos and he takes the scouts of the 10th company to infiltrate this dark mechanic and forge on Kuntarn close enough, while they're the 5th and 6 companies are engaging with [SPEAKER_00]: this like dark mechanical force.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the dark mechanical force is just replicating vehicles so fast that the ultramates can't make ground.
[SPEAKER_00]: So Talian and his squad infiltrate in and blow up every single one of the mechanical forces.
[SPEAKER_00]: And apparently a dark mechanical don't notice him because he's just that sneaky.
[SPEAKER_00]: He didn't blow up one by the way.
[SPEAKER_00]: He blew up multiple by being sneaky.
[SPEAKER_00]: Then, fast forward a little bit, or back, against the orcs in the world of, in the world of black reach.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's an orc wall, and the ultra-means are there, they could not find the warbaust to end to the assault.
[SPEAKER_00]: But Talian had a very cunning plan, and I'm about to give you is canon.
[SPEAKER_01]: I have to pause on this because you said he had a cunning plan and I know this story.
[SPEAKER_01]: Continue on, I had to put a warning label on this.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this is, well, it's a cunning plan.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, talented.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, well, it's cunning.
[SPEAKER_00]: He knows the orcs are going to come loose.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like something.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a brutal org style.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so he hides while the orcs come and loot it.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then he tracks it turns out the reason they can't find the orcs is because the war boss has a submarine.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he then follows a submarine.
[SPEAKER_00]: They don't say how, by the way, it's I'm assuming he just held his breath and held onto it in the end of style.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm giving Captain America style at least, man.
[SPEAKER_00]: I was going to Indiana Jones.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's something that he does that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Or no, it was Magneto.
[SPEAKER_00]: Then also did that.
[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of people have held onto a submarine.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: So he trusted somebody's super heroes.
[SPEAKER_00]: And by the way, where was this super secret layer?
[SPEAKER_00]: Brad, where obviously where is it going to be?
[SPEAKER_01]: Hold on, if you could see me.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm doing my Dr.
Evil Pinkies.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was behind a waterfall because it's the 41st millennia.
[SPEAKER_00]: We've got melted weapons.
[SPEAKER_00]: You've got warped travel, Titanic robots, but they couldn't scan through a waterfall.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about this.
[SPEAKER_01]: In every game, if you're playing and there's a waterfall, you just push your character up against it and just see where you're going to hit the secret that's behind it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because that's how it is.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's just, yeah, and so in this one, the Orcs were hiding a secret base behind a waterfall and the Ultraman's couldn't find it, which they could sell in immediately.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, it luckily Talian was able to hold onto a submarine and snuck back into the base and radioed in for a support.
[SPEAKER_00]: Also, another great one of Talian was fighting the Tal.
[SPEAKER_00]: Talian, single handedly ended the siege of Palaya with a one-two shot combo.
[SPEAKER_00]: From what is described as an almost impossible distance, he killed the Tal commander and the ethereal accompanying with them with one back to back, pop, pop, and took them both out.
[SPEAKER_00]: Removing the leadership of the Tal and then easily winning the day.
[SPEAKER_01]: the opportunity to say kill two cowfish with one was still on, but you really missed that one, man.
[SPEAKER_00]: Come on.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, fair enough.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now my favorite story though, because it is the absolute dumbest and most over the top is against the tear yets.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, old one eye has returned, and he's on call for ripping through the defenders.
[SPEAKER_00]: If he has on old one eye is, it's a super carnifax, who is missing an eye, and has been able to grab her throat.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's because another guy shot him in the eye, point blank with a melted gun, which is pretty significant.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he survived that, I'm going to point out.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, old one eye is alive, because he took a melted gun to the face.
[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, old one eye is [SPEAKER_00]: ripping through all the defenders because he's got incredible amounts of armor on him and no one could do anything about it until Talian arrives and Talian sees old one eye near a ravine because of course he's near a ravine.
[SPEAKER_00]: takes the aim where I believe it was his pistol and shoot to old one eye in the face right in the bad eye, which makes the awkward one eye.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the second old one I freak out and then fall backwards into the ravine.
[SPEAKER_00]: He felt that.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a story.
[SPEAKER_00]: He fell off a cliff because he was standing on the edge of a cliff and then got shot in the face.
[SPEAKER_01]: Fairhouse would just land if it wasn't going to be the edge.
[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you very much, sir.
[SPEAKER_01]: Where else would you stand?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a fan of Talian.
[SPEAKER_00]: We lost in the legends.
[SPEAKER_00]: We lost almost all of these people to legends unfortunately.
[SPEAKER_00]: Here's one of my thoughts.
[SPEAKER_00]: But, yeah, let's jump on.
[SPEAKER_00]: We did ranged.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's do melee.
[SPEAKER_00]: Or can Cassius also has chaplain Cassius.
[SPEAKER_00]: Some people call him Orton, probably Calgary.
[SPEAKER_00]: His mom.
[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, say, Chaplain cases hates two things in this universe.
[SPEAKER_00]: Xenos and others Xenos.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's all he cares about.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he hated them forever.
[SPEAKER_00]: This led him to join the Death Watch, and he would join the Death Watch, by the way, as a chaplain.
[SPEAKER_00]: So he's in the Xenos hunting killing division of the space marines.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he's the guy meant to inspire their faith and hatred towards Xenos.
[SPEAKER_00]: So he had some strong opinions on this.
[SPEAKER_01]: He was definitely putting out a newsletter, probably doing a podcast about this.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: I can also feel pretty confident.
[SPEAKER_00]: He probably was not there when Gilliman was roaming around with Eldar next to him.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that would have gone well.
[SPEAKER_00]: I have some opinions about this, sir.
[SPEAKER_00]: But Casey has some really impressive history.
[SPEAKER_00]: So first one is while he was with the Death Watch.
[SPEAKER_00]: He holds this unique honor in six eight, which is pretty late by the way, the M 41, the Imperium discovered the first jeans dealer called not the first one ever, but the first one they discovered.
[SPEAKER_01]: Case like the jeans dealer calls are so insidious.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're like, we found this thing exists in the jeans.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're like, oh, how did it take this line?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we'd be doing this for a while.
[SPEAKER_01]: We've got entire high world, taking over what is happening.
[SPEAKER_00]: But Kaseyus leads the kill team that purges the plants.
[SPEAKER_00]: The way it works is Kaseyus and the team first found them.
[SPEAKER_00]: They radio back, they discovered it, and they actually saved the high world because they went door to door, killing these things.
[SPEAKER_00]: And that was Kaseyus.
[SPEAKER_00]: Kaseyus then returns to the Old Chamberings afterwards, but his thirst for Zeno killing is not quenched.
[SPEAKER_00]: Good news for him, that's when the tiernids attacked.
[SPEAKER_00]: So he is on McRag when the tiernids attack, standing shoulder to shoulder with Calgar as they'd repelled Highfleet behemoth.
[SPEAKER_00]: Later, and as one of my favorite ones, he's deployed with a relief force to halt this pushback the tiernids are doing at one of the polar fortresses, cause unlike the galaxy, planets have magnetic north and south.
[SPEAKER_01]: While there, I don't really like your tone to me, John.
[SPEAKER_00]: You need to rock that back about 10% there.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: But while they're fighting, he goes mono a mono with a Carnivex, and it doesn't go well.
[SPEAKER_00]: The Carnivex effectively rips him the shreds.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the Apothecaries decide that they could rebuild him.
[SPEAKER_00]: They have the technology to make him better than he was.
[SPEAKER_00]: Better, stronger, faster.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, maybe not, but the better model.
[SPEAKER_01]: How many people are going to get this reference that we just made?
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's not that good of a show.
[SPEAKER_00]: It shows older than me.
[SPEAKER_00]: But what I do like is that it's written that after putting back together there is less than a centimeter, so less than half an inch for us Americans, of his body that is free of scars.
[SPEAKER_00]: He is completely ripped their shreds and most of them actually is robotic at this point.
[SPEAKER_00]: The cool thing with Cassius though, where he's really important to the altering lore is that as the story has developed, the altering has been pulled all around the galaxy to fight a whole host of threats, but Cassius has remained steadfast focusing on Xenos, primarily the tyrannids.
[SPEAKER_00]: So he's one of the big ones leading key strikes and the hive fleets, all that anything the tyrannids are involved, Cassius comes in.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's out with the tyrannic veterans too.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we also lost two legends.
[SPEAKER_00]: We lost a bunch of stuff to legends.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's really a lot of really cool dudes too.
[SPEAKER_00]: Are the tyrannical veterans, really good models, really good models, and so is case yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: We lost a lot of stuff to legends, which for everybody listening, legends is our models and 40K that no longer supported for competitive play.
[SPEAKER_01]: They just don't produce them, and if you have them, they don't let you use them in a competitive match.
[SPEAKER_01]: which kind of sucks because these were a lot of flavorful models.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it really unfortunately pulls down, I think, display boards a little bit when people try to show off their armies because these were some incredibly cool units.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, there's why it is.
[SPEAKER_00]: All right, but that's enough kind of side characters or people who are in legends.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's talk about someone who does have a model.
[SPEAKER_00]: Varro Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tigurius Tig [SPEAKER_00]: And I would actually argue the current primaris model for him rarely is maybe the best.
[SPEAKER_00]: The second issue on was cool.
[SPEAKER_00]: I had I had for I had all three of these at one point.
[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't love the fourth edition because of the pose, but I'm welcome.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because he was doing the buddy Jesus.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, buddy Christ Tiggy was my least favorite of the Tiggy's, but Tiggy has some serious lore.
[SPEAKER_00]: Born on McRag, Tiggerius showed rampant, psychic powers early on, to the point where while he was in the trials that come a space frame, he was accused of cheating.
[SPEAKER_00]: and it was then that they realized, oh no, he's just a super powerful siker.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so they moved him out of that group over into the future library in group.
[SPEAKER_01]: They also, they said they'd in the tears themselves.
[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't, there wasn't a tear for you.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he's next level siker.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and the main thing about him is because he has a very unique ability.
[SPEAKER_00]: He has pre-cognition.
[SPEAKER_00]: Tiggies can see the future.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's one of, and this is a rare thing in all psychers, by the way.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's super cool because Tiggies powers on the table matches lore, which is really nice because it's pre-cognition.
[SPEAKER_00]: The Pennsylvania Edition.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, recent additions where he got to give something minus one to hit because of his pre-cock.
[SPEAKER_01]: He was saying, this is going to happen.
[SPEAKER_01]: We need to move.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: I like it.
[SPEAKER_00]: I like it.
[SPEAKER_00]: I like it.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just torn on tight areas.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just going to jump ahead of it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Is the most powerful cycle maybe in the Imperium?
[SPEAKER_00]: And he gives what?
[SPEAKER_00]: plus one to hit.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it is pretty.
[SPEAKER_00]: He was a one-ditch hit.
[SPEAKER_00]: He was a one-ditch hit.
[SPEAKER_00]: He used to do, he was, yeah, he was borderline God because you put him on the board.
[SPEAKER_00]: This was ninth edition and maybe eighth edition as well.
[SPEAKER_00]: He had a plus one to all of his psychic powers, which he had a three of.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he could deny your ability to use powers at a plus one.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he could re-roll that test.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he was shut enough down.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was awesome.
[SPEAKER_00]: He was an auto-included in my ultra-marines [SPEAKER_00]: I think every time I can't play every few days.
[SPEAKER_01]: Still had the minus one thing in addition to that.
[SPEAKER_00]: He did, but at my point, I'm trying to think of, I may have played with him in almost every game.
[SPEAKER_00]: I loved having him in Gilman around each other.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was just more funny.
[SPEAKER_00]: But anyway, like all ultruring characters, when T gets a write-up by GW, it is hilariously overpowered.
[SPEAKER_00]: And couple of these are great.
[SPEAKER_00]: So fifth company, are engaged with forces of chaos.
[SPEAKER_00]: And fifth company are fighting a cabal of seven sorcerers.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, Tiki and the fifth company fight their way to the Sorcerers, and a big psychic battle commences, which every time they write this, I think of the South Park thing, where Cartman pretends to be a psychic.
[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry, it just unfortunate does kind of ruin it, but.
[SPEAKER_00]: this psychic battle is not that long though, because the seven sorcerers start casting their spells and tigarius just kills all seven of them at the exact same time with his mind and his looks around and goes, all right, what I thought this was a series threat is there another threat that I should be worried about here, because I took care of this one, but I thought there was a real threat.
[SPEAKER_00]: anyone have a sandwich because I'm kind of hungry.
[SPEAKER_00]: But that's nothing.
[SPEAKER_00]: That story is cute.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now we're going to do the man this one's hilarious.
[SPEAKER_00]: I end of M41.
[SPEAKER_00]: Ultramar is invaded by forces of chaos.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is not the time they get invaded by Nergal or the time that they get invaded.
[SPEAKER_00]: But it's just this is all Ultramar does.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's getting invaded.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's just why the Ultramar is such good soldiers because they're always fighting.
[SPEAKER_00]: But [SPEAKER_01]: And we just want it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And also, everything, chaos, tear it, it does not stop.
[SPEAKER_00]: Ultramar is, Ultramar is kind of amazing.
[SPEAKER_00]: We think about it.
[SPEAKER_00]: And that it's the most successful segment in the impairing outside of maybe Terra.
[SPEAKER_00]: And it is under attack, I don't know, every six weeks.
[SPEAKER_00]: By a galaxy destroying force.
[SPEAKER_00]: And every four weeks, they defeat them.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then wait two weeks, rebuild and go again.
[SPEAKER_00]: Near the end of M41, Ultramar is invaded.
[SPEAKER_00]: This time, it's a demon-print-steamed M-car, the reborn.
[SPEAKER_00]: And forces, they are called the Bloodborne.
[SPEAKER_00]: M-car was originally a dark up hustle within the word bears, and he killed enough people during the underground wars of Calth by way millions of people that the chaos gods elevated him to demonhood.
[SPEAKER_01]: Also, by the way, if you don't remember call to everybody, it's where everyone went for seven years to level up.
[SPEAKER_01]: So if you're playing a video game, you win there and you grind it out your levels and then you play the game.
[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so he does not care much for the ultramarine, so he's in.
[SPEAKER_00]: Leave this massive invasion and he's there to destroy them once and for all.
[SPEAKER_00]: Spoiler alert, he doesn't.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, during that battle, the chaos forces are unleashing this like on-slot of psychic powers on this world-called talisar.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's an imperial world in the middle of the ultramar sub-sector.
[SPEAKER_00]: Tiggy is there, so is Calgar.
[SPEAKER_00]: And Tiggy is using his psychic powers to beat back these endless waves of demons, but for weeks, just like the Emperor's power on the siege of terror.
[SPEAKER_00]: But over time, he starts running out of energy, and eventually Tiggy has to dawn on the blue plot armor of amazing this.
[SPEAKER_00]: So he has to throw his style back.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, he's twice.
[SPEAKER_00]: So as his barrier falls.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's so funny because come on now.
[SPEAKER_01]: He does the emperor in a revenge of the sin, which is, oh, I've got no power.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so tired.
[SPEAKER_01]: I can't possibly do anything.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then he just watches out a supernova.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then [SPEAKER_01]: They carry about.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is hilarious.
[SPEAKER_00]: His fortress is falling.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's all the demons launch forward.
[SPEAKER_00]: The ultramarines are exposed because they're outside.
[SPEAKER_00]: They were relying on this force field.
[SPEAKER_00]: And Tiki looks this going, and summons all of his remaining power, and does he like psychic supernova that just demolishes the chaos forces there, allowing the Ultramarines to grab everybody, including him and bring them inside.
[SPEAKER_00]: But oh no, the plot armor has to thicken up, so Tiki falls into a coma while this happens.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he's just lying in the infirmary unconscious.
[SPEAKER_00]: Fast forward, I don't know, six hours, it's hard to tell.
[SPEAKER_00]: M.K.
[SPEAKER_00]: Are the demon princesses?
[SPEAKER_00]: We're like a map because he was down there.
[SPEAKER_01]: But they're lying to them after lying to him going, I've got no more power at all except for this supernova could move.
[UNKNOWN]: You know what?
[SPEAKER_00]: And I love this so much because then M.
Carr, the demon prince, shows up and starts ripping through the keep.
[SPEAKER_00]: And this is in the book, by the way.
[SPEAKER_00]: Talgar is now engaged with M.
Carr himself.
[SPEAKER_00]: M.
Carr is going to kill Calgar at which point Tiki wakes up from his coma.
[SPEAKER_00]: But he's too weak to move his arms and legs.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so I love your reference, but if you don't mention that they're weak in that Bernie is saying him, I mean, they did it because Bernie was dead.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's the difference.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a source of sort.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we can do it.
[SPEAKER_01]: You're doing Wesley from Princess Brown.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's lying in bed and just says take me to the battle and a dozen humans in the infirmary pick him up and carry him to the battle front like Wesley at the gate to Humberdynx Castle.
[SPEAKER_00]: And their taggy is just being held up and unleashes and even larger psychic supernova from his brain that drives M car back, allowing them to rally and actually tell guards of killing M cars or result of this.
[SPEAKER_00]: And this is, I only see this as a scene in Princess Pride.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's the only way I can possibly explain this.
[SPEAKER_00]: I might be.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Follow us.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Another key part of Tegi, though, in the lore, is that Tegi is the person who convinced Calgar to let Call and the Eldar in to perform the ritual on Gilliman.
[SPEAKER_00]: Calgar is looking at Call, who he'd never met before, and he's with a bunch of Eldar and they're saying, hey, we want to go poke Gilliman while he's unconscious to make him alive.
[SPEAKER_00]: I can't resist.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you're not going in there.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's not that he looks over at Tiki and Tiki's pretty excited, by the way, getting the, and primar back and Caldard knows that Terry's has pre-cogabilities.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he says we need to let this happen.
[SPEAKER_00]: And that's so true.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's a big thing, that's so much respect though.
[SPEAKER_01]: He just says, we need to let this and Calgary went, all right, well, you know what?
[SPEAKER_01]: He's not gonna let something terrible happen.
[SPEAKER_00]: Also, he sees the future so it'd be really cool.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, the one thing on Tiggas kind of weird is, he's now a primary smurring.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know why, just is.
[SPEAKER_00]: Cross the Rubicon, did he do it over a long weekend?
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe, I have no idea, but anyway, from Tiggie, we're gonna move over onto another character who does have a model, Sicarious.
[SPEAKER_00]: will be right back after a quick break.
[SPEAKER_00]: Securious is so much better in the lore than he is in the tabletop.
[SPEAKER_00]: I belight years better.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think I don't think I've ever seen him on a tabletop.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, because...
That's true.
[SPEAKER_01]: Securious would have to have a two-up re-rollable involve.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's got such a big plot, I don't think anyone's there.
[SPEAKER_00]: I cannot think of a ton of scenes from one playing him.
[SPEAKER_01]: People aren't going to be just manned.
[SPEAKER_01]: Securious people aren't going to be manned.
[SPEAKER_01]: I've seen it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's got the irractive move.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, the rules are okay now, but they're not great, because he also gives him a salt, but you're going to put him with guys who have pistols, so who cares?
[SPEAKER_00]: You can directly move this good.
[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, so born on Talasar, which is the road we just talked about, well before this invasion, by the way.
[SPEAKER_00]: Psycharius plot armor came on to a young age.
[SPEAKER_00]: So it's written at four years old.
[SPEAKER_01]: I just want to say there's a young age and then there's four years old age.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I have four years old.
[SPEAKER_00]: He is listed being able to wrestle sword fight and shoot quote to the satisfaction of his masters.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, as a parent, I can be honest with you, you grab your kids on a wide curve.
[SPEAKER_00]: So when they're saying to the satisfaction, I'm pretty easily satisfied with some behaviors on my four-year-old becomes a sports.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you know, didn't fall down when kicking soccer ball was kind of the great I was on.
[SPEAKER_00]: But the way this is written, it sounds more like, secarious was on par with a ningo muntoya left-handed.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, with its sort of play it four-year-old.
[SPEAKER_00]: Once he joins the Ultramarines, he gets promoted fast.
[SPEAKER_00]: Within a few centuries, he's captain of the second company.
[SPEAKER_00]: Second company, so the way these companies work it's in order.
[SPEAKER_00]: So you have the chapter master, then you have captain of first company, and then captain of second company in order of who's in charge in a room.
[SPEAKER_00]: So he is third in charge because Gilman's not alive yet.
[SPEAKER_00]: He also then earns the title master of the watch, meaning it was his job to keep watch over Ultramar, keep it safe.
[SPEAKER_00]: He wasn't the fourth company or the protectors of Ultramar, but the second one also have to make sure that there's no issues with Ultramar.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's also, [SPEAKER_01]: a little bit testy, you might say.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's kind of a dick.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, Kerryus is really not an ultramarine in the sense we don't describe, we think of an ultramate.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's more of a blend between a space wolf and a dark angel.
[SPEAKER_00]: In that he revels in combat, like a space wolf was, but he's not brash the way they are, but he's hyper aggressive.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he's not as reserved as a dark angel.
[SPEAKER_00]: But he is that same level of, if I'm coming to kill you, I'm coming to kill you.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I'd not could say a lot of words and read it.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's falls this kind of middle ground, which technically makes him one of the best soldiers in the galaxy, because if you could mix a space wolf with a dark angel for combat kind of a wind, he's basically the ultramain's Sigismund.
[SPEAKER_00]: In fact, here, fun story on that.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a character.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a champion above, so.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so a couple different times he has been, he's taken on the mantle of champion for the Ultramarines.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so champion means that he's their key fighter.
[SPEAKER_00]: One of these stints, they're on McCregg and an inquisitor arrives and the inquisitor is there to accuse Tegy of heresy.
[SPEAKER_00]: and in front of Calgarna and the entire region.
[SPEAKER_01]: He gives his sales pitch of how evil slakers are and taking his tainted by the great out of me and they let it go.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then Calgarna effectively gives securious to the nod.
[SPEAKER_01]: And securious just walks down and just kind of goes points at the circle of assuming they have in the middle of the room and says too much [SPEAKER_00]: And the inquisitor is all excited with this happens.
[SPEAKER_00]: The inquisitor is like, excellent.
[SPEAKER_00]: I knew they'd do this.
[SPEAKER_00]: So he brought with him a champion.
[SPEAKER_00]: And it championed is what's called a chrono gladiator, which is an ad-met created, super dueling.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we're going to go human machine, human, and heavy air.
[SPEAKER_00]: He was like, what's the three bits?
[SPEAKER_00]: It is general, grievous level of human.
[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is, yeah, this is general grievous.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's what he brought with him.
[SPEAKER_00]: Securities looks the robot up and down and just goes, all right, and spends the next few hours playing with it in combat.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like they talk about the robot attacks and he just trips it to the ground and then he just punches one of its pieces of armor.
[SPEAKER_01]: Basically he can take, I was gonna say he takes a little piece of him off each time.
[SPEAKER_00]: for a couple hours because he slowly chips this thing down, but not because it's a protracted battle and he's in danger.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, he could have killed it in minute four.
[SPEAKER_00]: He just thought this would be funnier and he just sits there and toys with this thing until it's lying in a pool on the ground and dying from exhaustion, everything else.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about the excellent decision the inquisitor made.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because after that's lying in a heap on the ground, the inquisitor just sides, I'm not going to abide by this trial by combat because I'm sad.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm going to take out my pistol and show these guys who's bossed.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't really know what he was thinking.
[SPEAKER_00]: There was so many characters from the ultra-braids in this book.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I can tell you a way was thinking someone at GW writing that had just watched Star Wars episode four.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because that's what happens here.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, Karius walks over and stumps on the pistol and the inquisitor and his retinue, retinue, whatever, have to flee.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it goes, you're like, what, look, you want her to throw out the ship in the way back going, all right, boss.
[SPEAKER_01]: How did you think that was going to play out?
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's review this, bro.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's check the notes.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, Karius, [SPEAKER_00]: single is pretty good.
[SPEAKER_00]: The question around him and it still is that is he a good leader or not.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the reason why that's a question is that there's been a few incidents with him as a leader.
[SPEAKER_00]: One of them was back in Blackreach, which I should have mentioned earlier, Blackreach had a box set and for org players.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's one of the best box sets that's really.
[SPEAKER_01]: This box set period though.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's cut.
[SPEAKER_01]: It might be the best box set.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's got wilds out there.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was Blackreach.
[SPEAKER_00]: It had five for sure.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think half of my cop that's come from that box.
[SPEAKER_00]: It just has a ton of models for the price.
[SPEAKER_00]: That was a great one.
[SPEAKER_00]: But if the company for 855M41, he's leading the second company against the Warbaugh's Zanzak.
[SPEAKER_00]: And Zanzak had been discovered.
[SPEAKER_00]: He is victorious, he's the one that actually leads in after finding the submarine base.
[SPEAKER_00]: The problem is that he took a hundred space marines to go fight 10,000 orcs.
[SPEAKER_00]: And during this, they literally run out of ammo and have to start killing the orcs with knives and chain swords.
[SPEAKER_00]: They are successful, but everyone started asking, like, well, why?
[SPEAKER_00]: Why would did you deploy down with such incredible odds against you?
[SPEAKER_00]: Just orbital bombardment, dude.
[SPEAKER_01]: Also, this, you know how many are there, bring enough, bring at least one bullet for each guy about that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so there's a lot of questions about, is he to brush of a leader?
[SPEAKER_00]: Is that, and I think they're kind of right from being honest.
[SPEAKER_00]: His next big one happens in 947, and in 947, he is with the second company on Damnose.
[SPEAKER_00]: Damnose is fighting here, what is an unknown to the Space Marine's race of the Necrons.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they're completely unprovened for this time.
[SPEAKER_00]: They get wrecked.
[SPEAKER_00]: and secaries himself gets mortally wounded in this battle.
[SPEAKER_00]: The ultramarines are able to blow one of the planets up, because I guess there was a bad reactor somewhere, because they probably fired a torpedo, that is, all support no wider than a one-prat, let me see it, I'll be writing.
[SPEAKER_00]: But it's a catastrophic loss, and it's a big knock on secaries, because P failed.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, he does get has to redeem himself, though, because luckily he has a dream while in unconscious.
[SPEAKER_00]: A vision quest.
[SPEAKER_00]: He was in the small world.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he was on a coma and he had a vision of the backgrounds.
[SPEAKER_00]: He just fought rising up and killing them.
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's a good thing he has this because the ad mech hadn't told anybody about the backgrounds yet.
[SPEAKER_00]: Namely the fact that they reanimate.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so he and it grabs a few other people burst into the storage room where they kept some of the dead Necrons that they've stolen for study to discover a bunch of standing Necrons holding Gauss weapons and luckily kill them all before this [SPEAKER_00]: group of backgrounds would have probably blown the ship up because they would have you know, pop the hole in it somewhere and call us some problems.
[SPEAKER_01]: So G.B.A.A.
[SPEAKER_01]: has a habit of saying mortal wounds from people that pop up instantaneously.
[SPEAKER_01]: I do the art of the last action hero, mortal wound.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's just a stretch.
[SPEAKER_01]: But it's not.
[SPEAKER_00]: But let's go with secaris going a little over the top because I like the over the top story.
[SPEAKER_00]: Fast forward 52 years.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're in 999 at M41.
[SPEAKER_00]: Necrons are now in known entity.
[SPEAKER_00]: The lords of terror order, that the planet damn those, and the neck runs there have to be destroyed, it is not good for imperial morale to have a loss.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the ultramarines don't lose.
[SPEAKER_00]: So Calgar agrees, and orders the first, second, third, fifth, and sixth companies, all to damn those.
[SPEAKER_00]: They leave the fourth behind, because the fourth only defense ultramar for the record.
[SPEAKER_00]: Otherwise, I would have said one through six.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just gonna say, yeah, be one.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, hey, they start fighting as I had a chance to do Gary old then from the professional so I had throw it in that from Leon beyond the professional full-time Just but They get there and the plot armor just starts to thicken pretty quick, so as they arrive is now a fully awakened two-world [SPEAKER_00]: As they're fighting the Necrons and starts, there's always going well, and it stops going well, because the Necrons pull out a test-searched vault with a C-10 inside of it.
[SPEAKER_00]: And that thing starts causing some problems.
[SPEAKER_00]: In addition, the cryptic battle logic is always one step ahead of Calgar.
[SPEAKER_00]: and defeat is of course in sight.
[SPEAKER_00]: So Calgar realizes the only thing he can do to an enemy so attuned with logic was to do something illogical.
[SPEAKER_00]: Someone at GW was watching Star Trek.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's go ahead and say, yes, put card here right in this battle.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: So Calgar, cool story, himself jumps onto a galspylon, which had awesome rules in seventh and eighth edition.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's very much so in legends now.
[SPEAKER_00]: Those things, if you brought a knight and so I brought a galspylon, [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's shoot in a straight line.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and would auto kill a night.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was cool.
[SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, he grabs the galspylon by hand.
[SPEAKER_00]: It just turns it until the galspylon shoots a test-direct vault, blowing it up and freeing the C-tan.
[SPEAKER_01]: Which also, in case we didn't, you haven't listened to our Necron cast.
[SPEAKER_01]: The old C-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t [SPEAKER_01]: they're used as either weapons and batteries or just enslaved period.
[SPEAKER_01]: So when this guy gets free, he goes, oh yeah, I've got some stuff I'd like to talk about.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to have a chat with all of you guys, put in the Necrons right now.
[SPEAKER_00]: So this turns a tide for the ultramarines because this fragment of a star god is roaming around the battlefront, mostly targeting the Necrons.
[SPEAKER_00]: However, it's only mostly.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's still a star god who doesn't really like anything living and starts also fighting the ultramarines.
[SPEAKER_00]: This comes to a head because secarious is dealing with some flade ones when the C-10 appears basically near him and the C-10 starts lashing out its secarious and the Necrons secarious again.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is what they wrote so I'm going to tell you while ramming his sword into one of the flade ones.
[SPEAKER_00]: reached out to his belt and pulls a vortex grenade off his belt.
[SPEAKER_01]: I got multiple things on this.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Why does he have a vortex grenade?
[SPEAKER_00]: These are unbelievably rude.
[SPEAKER_00]: They do come in.
[SPEAKER_00]: So when it was a friend of his was in the death wall.
[SPEAKER_00]: He gave it to him before the battle.
[SPEAKER_00]: But still, he's got a vortex rate.
[SPEAKER_00]: He does it like the sky hooks it.
[SPEAKER_00]: I assume they don't write it by assume he like, you know, primes it with his does it the poles that pin out this teeth type thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they're just.
[SPEAKER_00]: overhead lobs it into the bread basket of the sea.
[SPEAKER_01]: You gotta say skyhook in the same carene.
[SPEAKER_00]: He definitely creams it puts the sky is right into the contend what yells Kobe while doing it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Just to see time that bread basket sucking it into the inventory removing it from existence.
[SPEAKER_00]: But that's not the end of Secaris.
[SPEAKER_00]: The most one, there's more.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's always more.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I actually do enjoy this one again.
[SPEAKER_00]: So going back to the invasion of Ultramar by M.
Car in the Bloodborne.
[SPEAKER_00]: Secaris is there.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now he's not on Callosar with Calgar and Tigerius.
[SPEAKER_00]: He was done given to something else to do.
[SPEAKER_00]: He had to go to Espendor, which is a forest world.
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's also a card in the world.
[SPEAKER_00]: So the ecclesiarchy cares about it a lot.
[SPEAKER_00]: Here, we've got this pirate leader named Karaja Salambar, and she's using her fleet to disrupt the flow of supplies.
[SPEAKER_00]: All around Ultramar, it hampering the defensive efforts.
[SPEAKER_00]: So blah, blah, blah, intrigue, blah, blah almost fine there, because she's hard to find, but secarious is really good hunter.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then they finally meet.
[SPEAKER_00]: And this story is epic because it's funny.
[SPEAKER_00]: Salam bars at least part Eldar.
[SPEAKER_00]: We don't know how much, but she is a corsair, so but she's an Eldar infuse the powers of chaos.
[SPEAKER_00]: So she's in a duel with Cacarris and no matter what Cacarris does, he can't hit her.
[SPEAKER_00]: Until he lets her, we don't really know, stab him in one of his hearts.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what, I need to make this reference.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was a good movie and you haven't seen it.
[SPEAKER_01]: He does a Rob Roy!
[SPEAKER_01]: I've seen Rob Roy, it's still not good.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not a good move.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's the end seed though.
[SPEAKER_01]: Where you can't beat him and he just goes, all right screw it and just grabs the sword and obliterates himself so he can stab him as he's getting obliterated.
[SPEAKER_01]: Which is exactly how long security it does.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's got a 73 on Rotten Tomatoes.
[SPEAKER_00]: I guess it's not that bad, but it is.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I do love, you can, you may be with Liam D.son and Tim Roth.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm interested.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, and Brian Cox.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm, I'm interested.
[SPEAKER_01]: Just, it's my worth it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody's going to watch this and go, I see your movie Brad.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was Sheet.
[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, so he gets stabbed.
[SPEAKER_00]: He then grabs her.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because, oh, actually, it comes.
[SPEAKER_00]: You made the monk run movie reference.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's do the problem.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because he, she stabs him.
[SPEAKER_00]: He grabs her arm and holds her in place while one of his sergeants runs her through with the chapter banner, with the poll.
[SPEAKER_00]: All of the movie, the pastry, which for the record, I saw that movie in the theater and I laughed out loud when he stabs the guy with the American flag.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because it's one of the dumbest things I think I've seen in cinema.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: But let's do one more securus because securus is not done yet.
[SPEAKER_00]: securus is but maybe has some of the most active plot armor in current 40k for a non major character.
[SPEAKER_00]: As he's a major character, he's hardly tell how important he is, but he's just everywhere.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because later, he's with Gilliman at the resurrection.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he joins Gilliman on the trip back to terror.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he's there with Gilliman fighting on Luna doing all this stuff.
[SPEAKER_00]: And eventually, Gilliman is back on terror and says, look, I'm can't leave terror.
[SPEAKER_00]: But I need you to go back to Ultramar and keep it safe.
[SPEAKER_00]: So secaris departs.
[SPEAKER_00]: Unfortunately, while going back to McCregg, [SPEAKER_00]: And the last message coming from secarious as ship is they have breached the whole they are here and five years go by and it's assumed that secarious is dead.
[SPEAKER_00]: Another captain gets promoted up to second company, all the stuff, but secarious and they don't like that.
[SPEAKER_00]: So for five years secarious and actually a bunch of fellow marines.
[SPEAKER_00]: are in this ship fighting the denzyns of the warp, one after another, trying to fight their way back to the bridge.
[SPEAKER_00]: They eventually get back to the bridge and they translate back into the material.
[SPEAKER_00]: This part's stupid because they find themselves the middle of the area.
[SPEAKER_01]: Can you please do a Star Trek?
[SPEAKER_01]: What was the movie where they went back in time?
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's find out, is it to, let's do, let's do Star Trek movies.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's their condes, too.
[SPEAKER_00]: But voyage home, it is for, it's for, it's voyage home.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's with the whales.
[SPEAKER_01]: Whales, please, please, they go back and leave the whales.
[SPEAKER_00]: They go back in time by going around the sun.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, so they emerge from the warp, and they're above a human planet.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the human planet is undiscovered by the Imperium.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's called a medieval world, because it's still using primitive technology.
[SPEAKER_00]: You follow in.
[SPEAKER_00]: The people, this is man, the plot twists on this are like an end night shammal on movie written by a 14-year-old, because it is just one after another, after another.
[SPEAKER_00]: So they get down to the world and they find out that the humans there are fighting a bunch of feral orcs, not full-blown orcs feral orcs, who are also on the planet.
[SPEAKER_01]: Alright, to be inconspicuous, the curious and his men go down and claim to be knights of the lands of the crag, they are marines, man, they're dude, Steve and Chevy, hello fellow children, just, what are you talking about?
[SPEAKER_00]: They're at least 50% bigger than everyone else in this planet, and they're just like, oh, covered in cyberdax!
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and they're playing not that they're from another planet that they're from this other part of the planet that these people Didn't know was there.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, my my girlfriends from another school you would know it's that's [SPEAKER_00]: But by the way, we're not done with a plot twist because while they're there, they also realize that the rulers of the main city on the planet are pawns for the Necrons, because they've been implanted with mine shackles scarves.
[SPEAKER_00]: That got black enough for you.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because we're not done yet.
[SPEAKER_00]: The next bit is even more complicated, because there's a Necron tomb under that city.
[SPEAKER_00]: So it's a carousel, it goes say, go in order.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they kill the orcs, they go back.
[SPEAKER_01]: It also don't tell anybody why they're doing this, but they start just murdering people in the city, which is what they think.
[SPEAKER_01]: They just see these guys go, who real tired from killing orcs, and they just start murdering people the populist of the city.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now they are infected with mines, shackles, scarabs.
[SPEAKER_01]: They don't tell anybody about this, or don't even treat it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Tell anybody about this, they just start [SPEAKER_00]: And then they find the secret trap door, I guess, that goes down to the Necron tomb, they then go down that.
[SPEAKER_00]: And while doing that, there's a C-Tan shard there as well that they also destroy.
[SPEAKER_00]: Barely easily, by the way.
[SPEAKER_01]: This was what I once read, you're just like, hey, man, are these like unstoppable, and you're like, unless I got a couple of my buddies, who are dressed up as knights.
[SPEAKER_00]: And we just, we pressed the off button.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, okay, okay, fair enough.
[SPEAKER_00]: So after all this, they go back up to their ship, which, whatever, and go back to McRack.
[SPEAKER_00]: They get back there, and Sekaris actually, this is the side part of the story, is kind of a broken man.
[SPEAKER_00]: He gets back there.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's got survivors killed.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is his first time to kind of rest.
[SPEAKER_00]: And for the last five years, he's been a nonstop combat.
[SPEAKER_00]: Almost everyone he knows is dead.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's come back to him at Craig.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's a different person in charge of his chapter.
[SPEAKER_00]: That was a huge job.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, his job.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he just has no purpose.
[SPEAKER_00]: Luckily, Gilliman has a plan, because Gilliman always has a plan if we're being honest.
[SPEAKER_00]: Gilliman realizes that there's no one in the Ultraman's more trustworthy and more honorable than Sekaris.
[SPEAKER_00]: So Gilliman promotes him to be the head of the Victorik's guard, his personal bodyguard for him and any other chapter message, him and Calgar roll around with these guys.
[SPEAKER_00]: Sekaris now has a new purpose, and it's allowing him to also appear by the way every Ultraman.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he's at ball.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's at the play wars, mesmoc, nonstop.
[SPEAKER_00]: Everything Ultramarines do, secaruses there.
[SPEAKER_00]: And his rules in Tenth Edition are fine.
[SPEAKER_00]: Fine, fine, fine.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's fine.
[SPEAKER_00]: But from there, let's jump over to another one.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're real ventress.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, rules on the table, such good rules that they nerfed him.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, sums of bitches.
[SPEAKER_00]: He was good.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'll be honest.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's still his fine.
[SPEAKER_01]: He needed the fact that I can't do deep striking sensations makes me sad.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that was a stupid role.
[SPEAKER_00]: That was an awesome role.
[SPEAKER_00]: That was brutal.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we learned that in the end of eighth edition.
[SPEAKER_00]: Why would you bring that back?
[SPEAKER_00]: It's awesome.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think you meant to say it was an awesome role and why wouldn't we bring it back?
[SPEAKER_01]: I of course use that rule in both eighth and tenth when I was able to.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so Ventura's has borne on call, post this, the wars, but in the underground farms.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is a world who's sung, by the way, it was wrecked by the word bears, so you add to live underground.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like all the trains are super fast, though.
[SPEAKER_00]: Fun that you're gonna, you're gonna get tense, get skin cancer.
[SPEAKER_01]: I believe that's still a tan.
[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't say, I said, I didn't say there wouldn't be bonus things, I said you could get a tan.
[SPEAKER_00]: Fair enough.
[SPEAKER_00]: So like all ultramarine heroes are really any space marine hero.
[SPEAKER_00]: He shows exceptionalism in early age.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's promoted quickly and attains numerous successes and accolades.
[SPEAKER_00]: But the big moment for your real is when he joins the death watch.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's something that none of his actions up that this is all they say.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, he did a lot of good things and he joined the death watch.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then in the death watch, he served with them and learned a lot about aliens, namely tyrannids.
[SPEAKER_00]: They primarily [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but then he comes back to the Ultramate and it was ascended to Captain Hood, and his first main mission is on a world called Pavonus, and Pavonus had failed to meet its Thai requirements, and thus needed a talking to.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is all from the book The Nightbringer, which is released in 2002, so it's older than some of our listeners, but GW writing this era was really good, but it was pretty heavy handed on plot twists.
[SPEAKER_00]: So keep the book at a high level because despite the age of this book, it's when I do recommend you read.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't want to kill you all of it.
[SPEAKER_00]: The adventurous discover is the world is corrupted by greed.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's Drew Carrey who are active, not raiding, but they're active, they're there.
[SPEAKER_00]: And a slumbering C-10 called the Nightbringer.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is the book that actually brought the Nightbringer into the game.
[SPEAKER_00]: Ventress saves the world, but the Nightbringer escapes.
[SPEAKER_00]: The act of seeing a billion-year-old God messes those mind up a little bit.
[SPEAKER_00]: And you should lose some confidence in some of his abilities.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, fast forward a few years, because that's going to kind of rack in for a while.
[SPEAKER_00]: Tearing heads are invading.
[SPEAKER_00]: And there's a tendril of the high-of-leaf behemoth that's bearing down the world of Tarsis, the Ultramar region.
[SPEAKER_00]: Tarsus, for whatever reason, is marked by the old Germans, and by the imperms, a world that cannot fall.
[SPEAKER_00]: So Ventress is tasked with saving it and repelling the tyrannid invasion.
[SPEAKER_00]: Unfortunately due to conflicts with the inquisition and the adaptability of the hive mind became ethos on the verge of taking the world in the sector.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but Ventress does, which is, possibly the coolest thing I've seen.
[SPEAKER_01]: He captures the victor, which is unheard of.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, if you played space marine too, you really like, there's kind of come out of nowhere.
[SPEAKER_00]: So how do you find a lecture, although I think if I want to say, I think the catachans were able to find that they can the lower catachans come out.
[SPEAKER_01]: They've done a couple.
[SPEAKER_01]: Then what do we talk about?
[SPEAKER_01]: What are my favorite lectures?
[SPEAKER_00]: The one that couldn't be seen even when they had it in the cell.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're like, it doesn't show up on scans.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it's in there.
[SPEAKER_00]: Don't open the door.
[SPEAKER_00]: Just a big side do not open bad thing inside, but they capture a lecture and they're able to use the lectures to create a poison that will work on the ternis.
[SPEAKER_00]: The problem is the only way to deploy the poison is to go to the ternis high of ship and inject it directly into the norn queen.
[SPEAKER_00]: The norn queen is what makes the ternis.
[SPEAKER_00]: The issue, obviously, that this is almost a suicide mission, and if it doesn't work, the sector will fall.
[SPEAKER_00]: So the death watch volunteer, say we've got this, but Ventress knows how important this mission is, and he does something that you're not supposed to do.
[SPEAKER_00]: He seeds command of his ultramarines and leaves them to go lead this death watch assault.
[SPEAKER_00]: It is successful.
[SPEAKER_00]: He saves the sector.
[SPEAKER_01]: But, yeah, I would say, there's a huge butt on that.
[SPEAKER_01]: You can't see command of your legion.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not, especially in the ultra-brains.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're all above the chain of command and everything else.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they immediately basically court Marshall in.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
[SPEAKER_00]: While being court Marshall, it's no calgar, not directly, but through a proxy reaches out to them and says, do not fight this, accept your punishment, do not fight it, it's bad for legion.
[SPEAKER_00]: So your real does.
[SPEAKER_00]: He and his second, who's a guy named Pasinius, are sentenced to what's called a death oath.
[SPEAKER_00]: And a death oath is when they give you just this monumental task that you either have to achieve or die trying to achieve.
[SPEAKER_00]: Same with Sessus Repentia, same concept.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they're told, Tiki had a dream.
[SPEAKER_00]: You to go find this thing called the demon colaba, which sounds like a very spicy meal.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like the demon colaba, something I would go to a Mexican restaurant.
[SPEAKER_00]: You would definitely come in Malka Yetta and it's just so hot and it's made for white people who want to challenge.
[SPEAKER_00]: So.
[SPEAKER_00]: as they travel into the warp, the geiler field fails, and their kidnapped by a demon engine.
[SPEAKER_00]: And their aerial learns of this plot by the iron warriors to make new iron warriors.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because one of the challenges chaos has is they can't make new chaos.
[SPEAKER_00]: They don't have genes, they can capture some here and there if they don't have recruits.
[SPEAKER_00]: So the iron warriors basically figure out a way to clone from using chaos powers.
[SPEAKER_00]: GW by the way does find a lot of ways around the whole.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's a limit number of chaos marines.
[SPEAKER_00]: They just there's always every legion has some work around the world.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they demon in the news.
[SPEAKER_00]: But just saying technically it's that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Urio and pacinus end up blowing up this demon Kulaba like they're supposed to and getting back into the material.
[SPEAKER_01]: They destroyed me that they were going to do all that stuff too.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they basically [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't want to ruin the book.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's actually a good book.
[SPEAKER_00]: The year-real books are very popular.
[SPEAKER_00]: So go ahead and read them this three of them.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're very good.
[SPEAKER_00]: But they pop back into the material.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the grain nights are basically waiting for them.
[SPEAKER_00]: And going, yeah, you're coming with us.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they spend, I forget how much time with the grain nights being tested.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the grain nights actually come out and say, no, they are pure souls.
[SPEAKER_00]: You are free to go back to the ultra-marines.
[SPEAKER_00]: The next big thing for a year-real is back to the old invasion of Ultramar with MCAR.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yerial plays this most ultramarine role ever.
[SPEAKER_00]: So in the warp, Yerial discovered the true name of M.C.
[SPEAKER_00]: Which is Malach Carthel.
[SPEAKER_01]: I love everything about this.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's fine.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's actually makes sense in the writing, but we have to say it out loud.
[SPEAKER_01]: It makes no sense, because it's like somebody in the warp just handed him an envelope from a guy in a trench coat and a hat.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was like, do with this one.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.
[SPEAKER_00]: You might need this one.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't even do this guy.
[SPEAKER_00]: And also, he ran, so Eriol randomly goes to rating, by the way, to an ultramarine captain named Ventonus, I believe, this position of a bigger deal, Ventonus found his sword, he stabbed the demon same as with it and killed it and banished it back, and then just kept it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Under the way.
[SPEAKER_01]: No one even asked about it.
[SPEAKER_00]: They were like, yeah, whatever, so Ventonus goes to his tomb and grabs that blade.
[SPEAKER_00]: So in the pivotal battle, where it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, [SPEAKER_00]: as that happened year-old jumps into the fray and yells the demon's true name, which freezes M-car in place.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then as Calgar leaps through the air, he throws Calgar the knife and Calgar stabs M-car in his throat.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'm going to go over a couple things.
[SPEAKER_01]: One, everybody knows that if you have a paralyzed opponent, you automatically credit.
[SPEAKER_01]: too, when he threw the dagger, there's a 100% chance that it was in slow motion.
[SPEAKER_00]: So that's just what that goes now saying.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, and with explosions behind it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, I mean, the and this huge explosions behind in there are rules.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, there are rules to this world.
[SPEAKER_00]: But because it's a demon blade and because he said his true name, M car actually is destroyed.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's not vanished back to the war piece ceases to exist.
[SPEAKER_01]: The infected summon his true being to this plane.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and now he has, and so now, Eureils in the game.
[SPEAKER_00]: Eureils still available in the game.
[SPEAKER_00]: His model does look cool with his green cape.
[SPEAKER_00]: My own style.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, and two.
[SPEAKER_01]: He has some bangs.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but we've covered a lot of altering characters and we have to save what I think is the most important for last.
[SPEAKER_00]: If he's not number one on your heart, it's because your soul is black as cool.
[SPEAKER_00]: The one, the only Antaro Chronos.
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe the greatest model GW ever made.
[SPEAKER_01]: his model they have every altering player it's like is losing their mind right now good yes the crow in a small a pro-cronus is two models because his rules are he buffs up a tank they have a list of tanks he can be assigned to and his model was a little hatch back yeah hatched his head sticking out yeah [SPEAKER_00]: You was his bottle hit in and he fit perfectly.
[SPEAKER_00]: So you take the hatch off the top patch off.
[SPEAKER_00]: You put Kronos on and then he had a second model where he had a red helmet on and he would stand outside because the same way Cainus Rex couldn't do it.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you kill the tankies in, he just gets out of the tank.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's like, oh, that was awkward.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's his thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, all he did was give your tank a position skill of two, but it wouldn't degrade, which was nice.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's a great one.
[SPEAKER_01]: Good.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you couldn't theory put him in a rhino, but every time I put him in my land radar crusader for 40 shots hitting on twos.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, he's the next other interesting guys.
[SPEAKER_00]: I just love the model.
[SPEAKER_00]: He was the master armor for the Ultramarines.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's considered the greatest tank commander of the Ultramarines due to both tactical acumen, but also his ability to jury rig vehicles together, like the stories, and the story is really not that great.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's, oh, he was driving right a tank and a tank took a lot of damage and kept firing.
[SPEAKER_00]: And at the end of the battle, the ad-meck looked at the tank and went, we don't know how this thing is still functioning.
[SPEAKER_00]: And Chrono just kind of gets out of it and walks away.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was to be walks away with his mullet because he's definitely a guy for.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, 100%, they're all, there's like, how did this even work?
[SPEAKER_00]: He's like, I don't know why I can't, you guys figure this stuff out.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's about it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, we haven't touched on Calgar.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, he's going to close this out, but with Calgar.
[SPEAKER_00]: Calgar is tricky though.
[SPEAKER_00]: Honestly, from a lower standpoint, and the reason he's tricky is Calgar only has, he's got some OP stuff.
[SPEAKER_00]: And we're going to cover that.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's just so prevalent everywhere, and he's written so perfectly, I actually find him less interesting than some of the other ones.
[SPEAKER_01]: is rocking the gauntlets of Ultrawire, which are automatically large power fist.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, with guns underneath them.
[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, it's so, Calgar's, and his writing also is tricky because there's some a lot of new stuff on him.
[SPEAKER_00]: So let's just kind of get through this, the best we can, and we're gonna miss some stuff on Calgar, but I'm gonna cover the stuff that I think is most entertaining for the listeners.
[SPEAKER_00]: So GW has written Calgar, he's just kind of always being there.
[SPEAKER_00]: because if there's had Calgaris present in the third edition codex, for sure, might be in the second edition codex for space marines, he has always been there.
[SPEAKER_00]: So there's not like this novels around him, he's just always been around.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he's had some great stories, but his origin story is the newest of the stories, and it's probably the craziest of all of them.
[SPEAKER_00]: because I was a percent they fully lacked his origin.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is yet, so he has two origin stories.
[SPEAKER_00]: One of them was written in a wife, dwarf in 1986.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then the next one was in a graphic novel or comic in like 2020.
[SPEAKER_00]: So there's a gap.
[SPEAKER_00]: But anyway, what do the graphic novel books?
[SPEAKER_00]: It's more funny.
[SPEAKER_00]: Calgar is not Calgar.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's the great thing there.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's actually his real name is Tekken, Tekken.
[SPEAKER_00]: Look at the aluminum.
[SPEAKER_00]: Tekken 10.
[SPEAKER_00]: Tekken 10.
[SPEAKER_00]: Calgar is dead.
[SPEAKER_00]: So born in the word of Thulium.
[SPEAKER_00]: Tekken 10.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, well, we're the Nova Thulium.
[SPEAKER_00]: Nova Thulium.
[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, Tekken 10 is a surf for the house of Calgar.
[SPEAKER_00]: But because GW Wright's stuff weird, he hung out with the air to the Cal Guard name.
[SPEAKER_00]: So he's a surf, aka peasant, working the land, and he was just best friends with the Prince.
[SPEAKER_00]: I've seen those Disney movies.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're not good.
[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
[SPEAKER_01]: After the wrath of the righteous did this better, we continue.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but he and Calgar both wanted to become Ultramarine's one day.
[SPEAKER_00]: And a common thing on planets is you actually practice and train the youth before they try to become a space marine.
[SPEAKER_00]: And on recruiting worlds, this is used on by a space marine, on guard worlds, like the Katie and Craig, they do this, voidborne, do this, everyone trains their youth to become what the world wants to produce.
[SPEAKER_00]: Takeden and Calgar have joined a group of aspirants under this guy named Crixis.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, see R-I-X-U-S.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm going with Crixis.
[SPEAKER_00]: Who was a failed Neo fight of the Ultra Reads?
[SPEAKER_00]: If you can't see the foreshadow, I don't know how.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he's super upset about failing about to be an ultramarine and ends up becoming a cultist for corn.
[SPEAKER_00]: So one day, the Tacotan and Calgar discover Crixis and the all of the other aspirants are doing corn rituals.
[SPEAKER_00]: So a fight breaks out.
[SPEAKER_00]: And during this Crixis kills Calgar.
[SPEAKER_00]: and Tacotan kills basically all the other aspirants because Tacotan is the better fighter than real Calgar was.
[SPEAKER_00]: But Tacotan is then cornered by Krixis.
[SPEAKER_00]: And as Krixis is about to kill him, this sergeant R2 of the Ultramarins arrives and just shoots him through the head.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, cash looks, I don't think.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, pretty good.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, all right.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that was about to slow about.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this is why you failed in Neo Fight Training as probably should see this coming.
[SPEAKER_00]: But anyway, [SPEAKER_00]: Sergeant Arta looks around and just sees Tacitus standing with like dozens of dead chaos cultists around him and goes Well, yeah, I think you made the cut-body come on join the altar marines [SPEAKER_00]: And but tacitann for whatever reason decides he wants to honor his friend and takes on the noble name of Calgar.
[SPEAKER_00]: He was a surf.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just a one.
[SPEAKER_01]: He gets to be a noble to if your name was [SPEAKER_01]: Eugene Burt, and you could be ultranova death machine.
[SPEAKER_01]: You chose to be ultranova death machine.
[SPEAKER_01]: Calgar is so much coming.
[SPEAKER_01]: Space Marine, your name means nothing.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think that it means a lot.
[SPEAKER_01]: People know Marty is Calgar pretty well.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because he made a name for himself.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's not because it was Calgar's easier to roll off the tongue.
[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, there's actually no record or date of when Calgar became a chaptermaster of the ultramarine.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I've searched codices, lexicanum, read it, to know a veil.
[SPEAKER_00]: If people can correct me on that, you can send it to a link to it.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'd appreciate it.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, [SPEAKER_00]: Calgar as a chapter master is written to be a near-perfect commander.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's always calm under pressure.
[SPEAKER_00]: He can diagnose a situation decide the best course of action and then just act.
[SPEAKER_00]: And if you want a really good vision of that, space marine too.
[SPEAKER_00]: When he just is on a thunderhawk with [SPEAKER_00]: hell breaking the list below him and just jumps off of it with his hair in the world by the way.
[SPEAKER_00]: And just walk through them, just slaughtering stuff and walks up to tightness and goes.
[SPEAKER_00]: So you sent me a telegram, I think, can you want to know what's going on about this thing?
[SPEAKER_00]: Just couldn't care less.
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's the, I'll be honest, it gave me some good spot to watch, I thought it was just a incredible depiction of what Calgaris.
[SPEAKER_00]: I was speaking of, should we talk about the gauntlets of Ultramar real quick?
[SPEAKER_01]: I decided to say I already said this they are so wildly awesome looking.
[SPEAKER_01]: The best picture is from the codex when he's sitting on the throne with the glass of watch him Yes, it's a fourth edition.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's a fourth episode.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh cool.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah [SPEAKER_00]: And so no one knows where these things are from, by the way, Gilliman took them from a chaos champion during the scouring era.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's all that's known.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're assumed to be a relic from a age of technology, because the ad-met can't figure them out, but they work pretty good.
[SPEAKER_00]: The only problem with them, my opinion, is that until Calgarb became a primarist, they were a little oversized.
[SPEAKER_00]: They looked like the Hulk vests.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and some of the early models, I think because Calgary's had a model, obviously, in every edition, and some of the early ones, the fifths were significantly larger than his head, but anyway.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's talk about Calguardo becoming a primary.
[SPEAKER_00]: This actually is important.
[SPEAKER_00]: Gilliman comes back.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's got these primaries marines and there's an issue.
[SPEAKER_00]: All of the first born marines are like, so that's our replacement, nope.
[SPEAKER_00]: And there's a massive pushback amongst the Legion that they don't even want to serve with primaries marines.
[SPEAKER_00]: And Gilliman's kind of like, hey, we have a galactic warda win, so you need to.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he needs to not only just direct it, but he needs someone to step up and do it.
[SPEAKER_00]: So Calgar steps up, and Calgar offers himself up to say, well, just convert me to Primaris.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he's told that the odds are 60, 40, not the good way that he will die from this process.
[SPEAKER_00]: Tell me the odds.
[SPEAKER_01]: So here's the thing, every time you hear about [SPEAKER_01]: converting over from first born to primary.
[SPEAKER_01]: As it's always, you're going to die for sure.
[SPEAKER_01]: It might work.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then every single character that's had the process done has been totally fine.
[SPEAKER_00]: Not even a blip, just no big work.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it works like a charm every time.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they do write that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks to Calgar, the process got better because they basically learned on him.
[SPEAKER_00]: But he becomes the first of the first born to be converted.
[SPEAKER_00]: They cross called cross in the Rubicon to primaries.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's all cute.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now I want to spend the last little bit of this cast talking about Calgar and hilarious accomplishments.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now.
[SPEAKER_00]: Calgar and Gilliman are involved in almost every battle now.
[SPEAKER_00]: Gilliman's in all the new ones, but before Gilliman came back, Calgar was there for everything.
[SPEAKER_00]: Calgar oftentimes, though, appears as a side character.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's there, he's leading the forces, but he's not as engaged.
[SPEAKER_00]: However, sometimes he is, and when Calgar gets written by GW to be on a solo mission or doing something himself, it is insane the stories.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'd now.
[SPEAKER_01]: The Ultra Breeds have a fortress that's just every fight we've ever been in, and Calgar has 28 volumes of himself personally.
[SPEAKER_00]: The only person that has more is Bobby G.
I think the 28 volumes are more than double the guy in the third place.
[SPEAKER_00]: So some of them are super over the top, and I just want to cover a few of those, because I just, this is why I like all shimmering characters, because they get these massive over the top.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know how this happens, but he's in a ship, and there's a sneak attack by the nightlords, and the ship crashes onto a planet.
[SPEAKER_00]: Where it's just him, I think, is all that's left.
[SPEAKER_00]: and Calgar looks around and the planet is full of primitive humans, so no boulders, no power, armor, nothing.
[SPEAKER_00]: But there's a few hundred non-primitive nightboards landing on the planet with him in the attempt to kill him.
[SPEAKER_00]: So Calgar goes full end or here.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he organizes the primitive [SPEAKER_00]: And there's two ways to read this.
[SPEAKER_00]: You can read it like he got the humans to rally like the Ewoks of this or how I read it.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a repeat of the lion and the Luther together heavy air quotes going and killing all of the beasts.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's still like the fact that Calgar stood effectively in a doorway.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was the entrance, but it's a doorway.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, the orc fight?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there's not a single man that's eligible to fight.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Calgar just sits there and just wrecks.
[SPEAKER_00]: Or, yeah, for a little bit of a higher night, yeah, this is a great story.
[SPEAKER_00]: I forget the name of the battle, but yeah, there's a fortress Calgar is there.
[SPEAKER_00]: And all of the defenders are just too weary to go on.
[SPEAKER_00]: The orcs keep coming.
[SPEAKER_00]: So Calgar walks out and just stands in the main doorway and goes, who wants some of this and spends an entire night.
[SPEAKER_00]: killing orcs at the gate until the next day everyone had enough rest or they'd found that the red bull supply and they counter attack and kill the orcs.
[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, just told you guys in one line, little guys in a couple, let's do this.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, another fun story, the Calgar in the Swarm Lord have a bit of a history.
[SPEAKER_00]: on the battle.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the battle of the blues and battle of McCregn, the swarm lord almost kills Calgar, runs him through and he has to be saved by his vitric scar.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but then he has a total glow up 80s montage video because he fights him in round two and apparently [SPEAKER_01]: full weapons and everything, getting beat.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's like, I'm going to fight him, somehow by the way, in bare hands, even though he's in his power.
[SPEAKER_00]: It does say bare hands.
[SPEAKER_00]: I check the codex does say this.
[SPEAKER_00]: So that's the stage.
[SPEAKER_00]: I car for Ultramans are fighting the tyrannids.
[SPEAKER_00]: The swarm lord appears.
[SPEAKER_00]: The swarm lord is the greatest general in all of the tyrannists.
[SPEAKER_00]: swarm lord is the prime mark, actually better, actually or a cryptic for necrons.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's that good.
[SPEAKER_00]: And Calagar knows that the only way to defeat the Tears here is to kill the Swarm Lord.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the Swarm Lord knows if it kills Calagar, the Ultramarines are gone.
[SPEAKER_00]: So of course they end up in an Epic 1v1 battle, but this isn't the novels that problem.
[SPEAKER_00]: This isn't a codex.
[SPEAKER_00]: So it's not that drawn out.
[SPEAKER_00]: All we know is that with his bare hands, Calagar kills a Swarm Lord.
[SPEAKER_01]: So again, how does he have bare hands?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm assuming they just met to say like he didn't shoot him.
[SPEAKER_00]: He just punched him with his super power fist, which would make sense.
[SPEAKER_00]: Calvator, 10th edition Calgar could pull that off.
[SPEAKER_00]: Calgar versus Swarmlord and melee combat, I think Calgar can kill the Swarmlord.
[SPEAKER_00]: But, sorry, let's say the best for last, because this is the dumbest of the things he pulls off.
[SPEAKER_00]: Ultramarines and BL-10 are at war over an artifact in the tomb of a former Ultramarine captain.
[SPEAKER_00]: They never explained why, by the way, what this artifact is.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: During the battle, the BL-10 deploy an avatar of King, which, for the record, is when you take an autarque, he takes a shard of the avatar of King, turns into a giant made of lava, carrying a fire sword.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's an avatar of King.
[SPEAKER_00]: It is in between human and God.
[SPEAKER_00]: Calgar looks up as this avatar of Kane is ripping apart Ultraman to throwing them all over and just goes nope, not the you ain't pulling that off again.
[SPEAKER_00]: And as the avatar runs at him and swings his flames or at him with one hand, Calgar grabs the sword and catches it and with the other one punches him through the chest out the other side.
[SPEAKER_00]: killing the avatar of Kane, which actually again, Tent Edition rules he could kill the avatar of Kane.
[SPEAKER_00]: I will say like rules wise, this actually lines up.
[SPEAKER_00]: These ones are doable, but it's mostly because the avatar of Kane this swarmord on the tabletop or nowhere near as good as they should be.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's it.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think with Calgar covered, we can probably call this an end to Ultramarines for now, they're going to come up in most all stories we cover as we cover any part of Forty K lore, but we have somewhere else that we need to go and Brad's going to get excited as a lot of you are.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're preparing for this series of episodes and then add a nowhere GW dropped the VOTAN codex.
[SPEAKER_00]: So what we've been waiting for.
[SPEAKER_00]: We now, we haven't done the VOTAN yet because off one codex, it's kind of hard to do a deep dive in the lore.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now that we have two codexes, I've actually been able to read through them pretty well.
[SPEAKER_00]: We have a novel and that some white dwarf we're ready to cover the VOTAN.
[SPEAKER_00]: So next week, we're going to start that coverage, but we're not doing the vote hand.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're doing the squats because who they were, where they went and what they kind of are now maybe.
[SPEAKER_00]: Hong Kong, here comes the red con.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's say, look out, you're about to get hit by the red con, buzz.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so next week, Votan hope you guys are excited.
[SPEAKER_00]: Probably at least two weeks of Votan coverage to really dive more into them.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're a really interesting group because the way the Votan are written sort of the lower changes.
[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm excited to hope you all as well.
[SPEAKER_00]: I hope you all enjoyed our coverage day of the Ultramarine characters.
[SPEAKER_00]: I know we missed a few.
[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry.
[SPEAKER_00]: They'll come up more in individual stories later.
[SPEAKER_00]: But, till then, this has been John Barsadi and Brad Jester.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: See you guys next week.
[UNKNOWN]: Thank you.
