Act III, Chapter 145: Newcomers
Episode Transcript
[SPEAKER_03]: Hello friends, it's Rob here.
[SPEAKER_03]: Real quick, before we start.
[SPEAKER_03]: We'll be doing another Q&A episode after Act Three wraps up.
[SPEAKER_03]: So if you have any questions for us that you'd like to hear included in the conversation, send those our way.
[SPEAKER_03]: Hit us up on the socials or at info at darknexuspodcast.com.
[SPEAKER_03]: And as always, thank you to our supporters on Patreon.
[SPEAKER_03]: And welcome to SpamCat and Ruberoo.

[SPEAKER_03]: Here we go!
[SPEAKER_03]: Welcome back to dark nexus.
[SPEAKER_03]: Tonight, it's act three chapter one hundred forty five.
[SPEAKER_03]: We're picking up on the morning of the fifteenth of a radius day sixty six on the boat.
[SPEAKER_03]: We cleared mile nine hundred yesterday.
[SPEAKER_03]: Less than three hundred miles to go, and we could cover that in two weeks or so at the rate we're cruising now.
[SPEAKER_03]: The starling is in her element, the river is running fast, the winds have been good, and Dabwick spells are droiding the shit out of this cruise.
[SPEAKER_03]: We're getting further in further south.
[SPEAKER_03]: The temps are picking up.
[SPEAKER_03]: It's still winter, of course.
[SPEAKER_03]: Still a little bit gloomy and gray, but we're fully out of the thirties now.
[SPEAKER_03]: Well, into the forties, probably near fifty a midday when the sun pokes through the clouds.
[SPEAKER_03]: The vegetarian forest rises tall on both sides of the river, which is very, very wide now.
[SPEAKER_03]: And we have hit that moment.
[SPEAKER_03]: We have all seven gifts for the Mad Poet.
[SPEAKER_03]: We could conceivably, since everyone's actually healthy and sane right now, we could go to the Dreamlands tonight.
[SPEAKER_03]: Grab the yellow king, make our trek to the Oasis, and wake up tomorrow.
[SPEAKER_03]: With enough time before we hit Kazimire to finish teaching goes to the Reed, finish fix, extract, research, maybe even retrain a feet or two if we desire, and land in Kazimire ready to rock for whatever comes next, which hopefully, [SPEAKER_03]: We might have a better idea of what that consists of once we talk to the mad poet.
[SPEAKER_03]: But again, we have hit the moment and it is time to talk about it.
[SPEAKER_03]: We've got our gifts so that the mad poet won't murder us outright for simply darkening the doorstep of his faded gray hut.
[SPEAKER_03]: Slaunching next to that crystal clear pool and the headfruit tree on the borderlands at the end of the dreamlands.
[SPEAKER_03]: But what do we want from him exactly and what are we willing to give him or sacrifice to him in return?
[SPEAKER_03]: How to find a reason?
[SPEAKER_03]: It seems to be something he possesses information on the way roles set off after visiting him.
[SPEAKER_03]: Your memories?
[SPEAKER_03]: knowledge of everything that happened to you before you woke on the floor of that dungeon in Briarstone asylum.
[SPEAKER_03]: If that was all left there, maybe it could be returned to you in exchange, of course, for a sacrifice of some sort.
[SPEAKER_03]: We've been through a lot since we left Threshmore.
[SPEAKER_03]: At that time, Gripper was still really driven by revenge wanting to catch and kill Lowell's more.
[SPEAKER_03]: It seemed then maybe so much anything else, but I don't know.
[SPEAKER_03]: Now he's changed quite a lot in the last two months.
[SPEAKER_03]: When we left Threshmar, the last thing on Doris' mind was worrying about what these folks, or team I had done in the past, because it all seemed so detached from her.
[SPEAKER_03]: But since then, she has gotten more and more glimpses into anathom's story, and even went so far as to make her a vow to get to the bottom of how they got this way.
[SPEAKER_03]: When we last left Threshmar, Vick was barely even Vick yet.
[SPEAKER_03]: But Vic has seen and learned a lot in the last several months, and trying to find some way not to just understand what happened to them all, but maybe to reckon with it, maybe to atone for it or address it, he might have some new priorities, perhaps.
[SPEAKER_03]: Change and transition.
[SPEAKER_03]: And Dabwick, Dab's has perhaps the most intimate connection to the power and enormity of Carcosa amongst all of you, [SPEAKER_03]: And while none of you really know yet what exactly roles is planning to do, we do know he serves the most blood and the King and Yellow, which means he serves the interests of Carcosa.
[SPEAKER_03]: And his dad would ready to possibly lose more friends to the conglomerate city.
[SPEAKER_03]: What do we want from the mad poet?
[SPEAKER_03]: And what are we willing to sacrifice?
[SPEAKER_03]: Let's find out.
[SPEAKER_03]: The morning finds you all gathered to gather downstairs.
[SPEAKER_03]: Everybody's healed up.
[SPEAKER_03]: Barnabas and Stasi have taken care of the healing, nobody's injured.
[SPEAKER_03]: And for once, it's been a long time since you've come out of one of these ones, where everyone's okay.
[SPEAKER_03]: You know, either bed, door is completely insane.
[SPEAKER_03]: Most of you are completely insane.
[SPEAKER_03]: Vic is completely insane.
[SPEAKER_03]: Somebody's died.
[SPEAKER_03]: None of that happened this last time.
[SPEAKER_03]: Nobody's completely covered in blood.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_06]: Same way that we normally have been.
[SPEAKER_03]: It is a weirdly peaceful [SPEAKER_03]: Morning.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, friends, we can no longer delay this conversation.
[SPEAKER_00]: I suggest we enter into a private bond, so we may speak freely.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you are all willing.
[SPEAKER_04]: Hey.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, of course.
[SPEAKER_03]: Would you like to include Stazian Barnabas in this conversation?
[SPEAKER_00]: Not yet.
[SPEAKER_03]: Not yet.
[SPEAKER_03]: Great.
[SPEAKER_00]: Dora isn't definitely not going to include Stasi in the spawn.
[SPEAKER_00]: She and Nixon are not infected and she will not risk that, and they may have to talk about it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Though, to be honest, we should have Barnabas in the spawn.
[SPEAKER_03]: Do you want it?
[SPEAKER_00]: Since he may wish to ask something of a mad poet as well.
[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, also, if it's the idea that we could have a gift for each person, we don't know that.
[SPEAKER_06]: There's, but yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: Want to include Artemis?
[SPEAKER_03]: Sure.
[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
[SPEAKER_03]: this scene.
[SPEAKER_03]: So it's like super early morning you all have woken up but you're still in your hammocks and you're all just looking at one another as you speak completely telepathically, no sound passing.
[SPEAKER_03]: Barnabas is sitting over cross the way leaning against the all the padding that's been put up in the book nook as you get comfortable to begin this telepathic conversation.
[SPEAKER_00]: Perhaps we might presume that if satisfied with our offerings, the mad poet would grant each of us a boom.
[SPEAKER_00]: Of course we don't know that that's the case, but for the sake of conversation, might we all say what it is?
[SPEAKER_00]: We might ask for?
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know to be perfectly fucking honest.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, a slightly different position than the rest of you, except adds, of course.
[SPEAKER_00]: And bogus.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my, even talking about gripping Vic.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: Wow.
[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_03]: No, but that's a good, that's a good realization too, right?
[SPEAKER_03]: Like we've gone from a very small world with more people in one very specific situation to now.
[SPEAKER_03]: There's a bunch of different interests going on in situations.
[SPEAKER_00]: I personally have no wish to recover memories that I don't identify as mine, and I would like to know where Lowell is going.
[SPEAKER_00]: I have a personal interest in understanding my own situation better than it is not the same, and I would not risk the group's efforts for my own education.
[SPEAKER_00]: If it is my lot to be the one to ask for, the location of the Roosevelt, then I accept that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Then I shall have to satisfy my vow to anathma another way.
[SPEAKER_06]: What vow?
[SPEAKER_00]: I told her I would try to find out why we are the way we are.
[SPEAKER_04]: Time was all I wanted to do was kill Loles and get my fucking memories back, but to be honest, [SPEAKER_04]: I don't think I've seen a single memory that has made me a happy about things.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's certainly not a who I want to go back to being.
[SPEAKER_04]: So I don't think I want that.
[SPEAKER_04]: And killing roles, well, that the immediacy of that has faded for me, but whatever he's doing, we helped him to do.
[SPEAKER_04]: And for me, I think the only thing I've got that can even come close to balance and this ledger we keep talking about is to try to stop him.
[SPEAKER_04]: So I'm going to try to do that and then whatever is is.
[SPEAKER_06]: There's nothing else we want.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, sure.
[SPEAKER_04]: I'd like to stay on this boat for the rest of my fucking life, I think, from being honest about it.
[SPEAKER_04]: And maybe that's what I'll try to do if there's anything to do.
[SPEAKER_04]: When we've done what we've done, but I don't think the mad pot's going to give me that.
[SPEAKER_06]: You don't know that.
[SPEAKER_06]: No.
[SPEAKER_06]: Get that thing out of your head, you could.
[SPEAKER_06]: You could stay on this boat.
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, then maybe that's what it is, I'd ask for.
[SPEAKER_04]: I'll get this fucking thing out of my head.
[SPEAKER_04]: But that might have been done before, and that might have also caused a lot of problems, so I don't know.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's valid point.
[SPEAKER_00]: asking for the knowledge to be removed, but it doesn't solve the greater problem.
[SPEAKER_00]: We can always be re-infected.
[SPEAKER_00]: In fact, there is someone out there, wherever she is, who I'm certain would make it her life's work, to ensure that that happens.
[SPEAKER_00]: So asking for that while perfectly valid bonus, possibly only a temporary, [SPEAKER_00]: placebo, if you will, to the greater problem.
[SPEAKER_00]: Asking for a boon that might help us solve the greater problem.
[SPEAKER_00]: However, is worth consideration.
[SPEAKER_04]: I think that's through.
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what that thing, I don't know what that ask is, but that does seem more forward-thinking than just fixed this little thing I've got gone on with me right now.
[SPEAKER_06]: When you said the thing about where a lie about the stranger, you would have noticed Vix face like change completely like a moment of a hot realization.
[SPEAKER_06]: And he says, uh, where he thinks I hadn't realized till right now until you, you said that that, uh, if we're lying knows about Catarina, she'll go after her.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's possible.
[SPEAKER_06]: No, it's not possible.
[SPEAKER_06]: It's highly likely.
[SPEAKER_05]: As far as I'm concerned, we have to go to Naruzvin.
[SPEAKER_05]: I feel it's imperative that we follow laws and stop him from what he's trying to do.
[SPEAKER_05]: And then whatever comes of that, [SPEAKER_05]: we'll deal with it.
[SPEAKER_05]: But as far as your past is concerned, I support you if that is something that you wish is to find balance and wholeness again.
[SPEAKER_05]: Please know that I support you there.
[SPEAKER_04]: I want this thing out of my head.
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't want to go out as a way.
[SPEAKER_04]: I have seen us as go out.
[SPEAKER_04]: They just selfish perhaps.
[SPEAKER_04]: I do not know this laws.
[SPEAKER_04]: I do not have the past you have.
[SPEAKER_04]: But I would close this thing out of my brain if I could.
[SPEAKER_06]: I know, uh, I know we talked about, or talked around what it is that we want.
[SPEAKER_06]: Does anybody thought about what they're willing to give up?
[SPEAKER_00]: It's pointless.
[SPEAKER_00]: We all end up back in some place like Briestone.
[SPEAKER_00]: What we are trying to do is stopping los.
[SPEAKER_00]: We need to be us to do it.
[SPEAKER_00]: It may be that we need those memories in order to do that thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: The ones we are already lost.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's hard to know.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's hard to know how to answer that question and tell [SPEAKER_04]: you're presented with the author, you know?
[SPEAKER_00]: Perhaps the mad poet will accept some sort of service.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because if we sacrifice our physical beings, well, then there's no point if we sacrifice our mental capacities.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, there is no point to getting the answers we're looking for.
[SPEAKER_00]: It may be that we simply have to see what we're offered.
[SPEAKER_04]: And so this is a Robert asking, do we know for a fact?
[SPEAKER_04]: that the us losing our memories that landed us in Briarstone was the sacrifice or is that conjecture on our part?
[SPEAKER_04]: That is known.
[SPEAKER_04]: That is known, okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: But Lowell's made the sacrifice on our behalf.
[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
[SPEAKER_00]: He said, you take all my efforts.
[SPEAKER_03]: You escorted Lowell's there.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: Lowell's treated with the mad poet.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: And when the moment came for him to make a sacrifice, he sacrificed.
[SPEAKER_04]: y'all yeah and that would have been the second time we were there correct right that you know that we know we died but first because he killed you maybe there was interlude point five but yeah to to that point it's I don't know what I'm willing to give up who treats with a mad poet first or do we live it up to chance [SPEAKER_04]: Well, I think anytime we're doing anything fucking talking, we're going to start with Dora, are we not?
[SPEAKER_04]: She's the one that's, you know, what's the word?
[SPEAKER_04]: Diplomatic.
[SPEAKER_06]: Dors also the one that said that she's willing to sacrifice what she wants in case none of the rest of us are to get what she wants.
[SPEAKER_06]: She's willing to give up finding about her and team up.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that's a sacrifice though, giving up knowledge I don't have.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't even know that never knowing the answer to that question would satisfy him.
[SPEAKER_00]: Take the sacrifice as it comes.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I don't see how, I don't see any other way to operate.
[SPEAKER_05]: And so we'll leave tonight.
[SPEAKER_04]: I think we should not wait any longer.
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know exactly what we're supposed to do.
[SPEAKER_04]: But I think we need to start.
[SPEAKER_00]: I agree.
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: I agree too.
[SPEAKER_05]: I've got to go to work.
[SPEAKER_03]: Last day on the boat before we head back to the forsaken care of ants arrived.
[SPEAKER_03]: What steps do they look like?
[SPEAKER_05]: Pensive.
[SPEAKER_05]: Going through the motions with attention, but fought fall about the journey ahead.
[SPEAKER_03]: Tabs can't help but notice that every time they turn a corner, Chester feels like they're in your way and is scooting [SPEAKER_03]: just stay out of your eye line just he's he's in this base of my god i'm going to see my wife and he's just painfully aware of how awkward this all is for you so he's trying to stay out of your way to make it less awkward for you which of course makes it more awkward [SPEAKER_05]: I think Katzen has assigned him [SPEAKER_04]: I'm struggling to come up the example, so hell, but like his most shadowing her is quartermaster and learning her different duties.
[SPEAKER_04]: And I think she's assigned him a particularly complex task today.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that's like not a final exam, but it's like this is somehow trying to give him a taste of a busy day.
[SPEAKER_04]: as quarter-master.
[SPEAKER_03]: And one of those busy days would be a resupply stop.
[SPEAKER_03]: So she's established a hypothetical for you of X people on boat, X length of trip expected, known possible on the possible unknowns.
[SPEAKER_03]: How would you plan for this one?
[SPEAKER_04]: Alright, I'm going to roll first.
[SPEAKER_04]: He's an extra point.
[SPEAKER_04]: So that's a four on the diet for a ten.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, so I think he's having voiced not voiced but having mentally voiced [SPEAKER_04]: I might just like to stay on the fucking boat.
[SPEAKER_04]: Has both motivated him and distracted him, driven him to distraction.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: I think he's, I think his head is just swimming with the love of this life that he has given given a glimpse of.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: And then just everything that's led up to here, like culminating with Vixka, a fucking daughter, what?
[SPEAKER_04]: And how everything is just so [SPEAKER_04]: Like the complexity of all that versus what even though he was given a very complex mentally challenging task, the simplicity of that life, I think is is was where his head is at.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: What about Dora?
[SPEAKER_00]: Dora will spend some time with Gosa.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: But also [SPEAKER_00]: I don't have a, I don't have a skill unlock for this.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what it will be.
[SPEAKER_00]: But she is, uh, she wants to meditate on the clanging bells that greet them every time they enter the dreamlands.
[SPEAKER_00]: She's reflecting on the conversation she's been having with anathema and hearing herself, like, ripped it, say, [SPEAKER_00]: I don't need my memories in the same way that you might want yours.
[SPEAKER_00]: But it's not exactly true.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because anatham and I are separate beings with separate thoughts about things.
[SPEAKER_00]: And for a long time, I assumed that we were sharing two separate souls sharing a body, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: But at some point, I had my own.
[SPEAKER_00]: And she had her own.
[SPEAKER_00]: And without my memories, I can never unlock that, right?
[SPEAKER_03]: Or without her having her memories.
[SPEAKER_00]: Or without her having her memories.
[SPEAKER_03]: Like, yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: Or without both of you having, I mean, yeah, you don't know yet.
[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_03]: We don't know.
[SPEAKER_00]: The only clue.
[SPEAKER_00]: And team abroad it up.
[SPEAKER_00]: Is the clanging of those bells that get louder every time?
[SPEAKER_03]: So that's what you want to meditate on.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but I don't have a thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's fine.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's fine.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I have my crystal.
[SPEAKER_00]: I have my...
But that's...
I got an idea for you.
[SPEAKER_03]: That's where she's...
Give me...
What is the skill you use for psychometry?
[SPEAKER_03]: Perception.
[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, give me a perception check.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I'm going to use a...
Perseverance site right before me.
[SPEAKER_00]: Sure, sure.
[SPEAKER_03]: It's twenty-nine.
[SPEAKER_03]: So after wrapping up the morning working with Kosa, who's getting stronger and sure in her reading skills every day and heading down to the padded book nook.
[SPEAKER_03]: to meditate for a while and contemplate this question.
[SPEAKER_03]: I see Doris slipping into slipping into one of her trans-like states and she finds herself aware that she has over the course of what ends up being a few hours, taken each and every single object she has ever used psychometry on.
[SPEAKER_03]: out and felt it again.
[SPEAKER_03]: And Vic can later share a story of how you seemed to have sleep walked to him to take some of the things there in his possession, gripper, some of the things that are in the bag of holding.
[SPEAKER_03]: And, you know, you seem to be in a one, someone's like, yeah, you need this for a few minutes sure, you know, she's doing something.
[SPEAKER_03]: She's clearly doing something.
[SPEAKER_03]: and you come to with all of this stuff arrayed around you.
[SPEAKER_03]: And the thing you keep coming back is you're pondering this bell is tiny little scrap of skin from Roni's face.
[SPEAKER_03]: Young, adolescent, victor, breaking out of wherever he was being held, [SPEAKER_03]: Crowned of that memory is that bell.
[SPEAKER_03]: that bell is a literal sound from the real world that can be heard from the cells of this place with the curved granite walls in this yellow city in biting lashes fortress and then the one time of these visions you saw that [SPEAKER_03]: woman crumpled in the corner of a cell.
[SPEAKER_03]: And it's her.
[SPEAKER_03]: She is there in biting Lash's fortress where at least Vic was held and presumably grip it because they both bear her ground on the back of their necks.
[SPEAKER_03]: She is a person.
[SPEAKER_03]: She is there.
[SPEAKER_03]: She right now is trying to reach you and what you are hearing is what she hears.
[SPEAKER_03]: You are sharing [SPEAKER_03]: You are sharing audio sensation with this pool.
[SPEAKER_03]: That's where that meditation leads you.
[SPEAKER_03]: Feel like you're like inches away from touching her.
[SPEAKER_03]: But it seems like the moments when you're closest to touching her [SPEAKER_03]: are in those transition moments between life and death, between the real world and the dream.
[SPEAKER_03]: But she's in the real world, and she's desperately trying to reach you.
[SPEAKER_03]: And you have a location in space now.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Where is biting lashes?
[SPEAKER_00]: Stuff in there?
[SPEAKER_00]: Fortress in the real world?
[SPEAKER_03]: She's in Okano, which is one of the largest cities of Catapash called the Yellow City because of the sickly yellow flags of the slavers that docked there.
[SPEAKER_03]: It has an abnormally large null population.
[SPEAKER_03]: It's the city you all saw in the prologue that sounded like it was full of hyenas and human screams.
[SPEAKER_03]: You've all shared various sideways visions of that.
[SPEAKER_03]: So city and Gurun, across the intersea.
[SPEAKER_00]: So we're working our way there, basically.
[SPEAKER_03]: That is the direction you're heading.
[SPEAKER_03]: If you reach Kazabir and keep going, you'll go right there.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
[SPEAKER_03]: What about Vic?
[SPEAKER_03]: What's his day like?
[SPEAKER_06]: Vic starts off trying to work on some of his projects and his mind keeps drifting and drifting until he finally starts asking around trying to see if he can get just some paper and a piece of charcoal.
[SPEAKER_03]: Sure, you have to pass your grip for that.
[SPEAKER_03]: Well, he's working on his calculations.
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_06]: And then he sits down and tries to find a sort of like quiet and still a place as possible and does his best to recreate the painting with this piece of charcoal on a piece of paper.
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, Evan, you're in Katarina?
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: What old day, Tony?
[SPEAKER_03]: Let's see how good it is.
[SPEAKER_06]: craft.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, sure, make a craft check.
[SPEAKER_06]: All right, so craft would just be D-twenty plus his intelligence bonus.
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_06]: That is a thirteen and he's going to spend a point of inspiration for another three to get to a sixteen.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it is a convincing likeness, you know, in a different medium, lacking some of the, maybe some of the specific details, perhaps on a neary, but not so much on Academy and I like it say it's a good, it's a good likeness of your daughter when she was about to we last.
[SPEAKER_06]: He finds himself like looking at it and think about all the shit that he has to lose.
[SPEAKER_03]: And then at nightfall, we gather for the ritual.
[SPEAKER_03]: So we're at the point, I believe, where Dora cannot fill these checks.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, not if everybody is trying it.
[SPEAKER_03]: And, uh, Chester would be interested to watch, do we advise against that?
[SPEAKER_04]: He's a grown man.
[SPEAKER_03]: That's what it is.
[SPEAKER_03]: Sure.
[SPEAKER_00]: Thirty-two.
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm simply a student of the arcane arts.
[SPEAKER_03]: I've never seen anything like this.
[SPEAKER_03]: And this is the way you got to me.
[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like it is now incumbent upon me to learn everything I can about how the dream works if Desner's really [SPEAKER_02]: Bringing us together after all these years.
[SPEAKER_02]: I just want to see.
[SPEAKER_03]: This is not not.
[SPEAKER_03]: I want to steal from you.
[SPEAKER_03]: This is something I wish to learn.
[SPEAKER_03]: And I understand you.
[SPEAKER_03]: You probably can't teach me the ritual that's fine.
[SPEAKER_03]: I simply wish to see it happen if that's all right.
[SPEAKER_03]: And you feel like he's being honest.
[SPEAKER_00]: I have no objection.
[SPEAKER_00]: I wonder if it won't deter you in the end.
[SPEAKER_03]: Perhaps it might.
[SPEAKER_03]: Strap in friend.
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm boy.
[SPEAKER_03]: before you gather to.
[SPEAKER_03]: Sit in your circle downstairs.
[SPEAKER_03]: Vic would have noticed today that one being never joined him to the course of the day.
[SPEAKER_03]: Pumpkin did take the opportunity after having been brought ashore to slip off into the Virgilian forest that night that you spent with the star dust augers.
[SPEAKER_03]: You know he'd be looking for a way to [SPEAKER_03]: The fuck up the fuck away from the the the severe lack of rodents that Vic is leading him to so you're you're you're down one person on the ship now.
[SPEAKER_06]: I'll see see in our dreams [SPEAKER_03]: So we sit in our circle.
[SPEAKER_03]: We pass the stairs around the fourteenth time we feel them get heavier and heavier and heavier.
[SPEAKER_03]: The stairs get larger and larger.
[SPEAKER_03]: Dora is very easily making these checks now.
[SPEAKER_03]: She has done this so many times.
[SPEAKER_03]: Imagine at this point, there's not even any need to refer back to any of the texts at all anymore.
[SPEAKER_03]: This is just common straight out of the back of her head as you do this.
[SPEAKER_03]: At the end of this, the staircase tumble out of her hands onto the floor.
[SPEAKER_00]: This time, when we descend that stair, [SPEAKER_00]: Dora is going to keep her mind open to the bells where they're coming from and try to send a message that is simply I hear you.
[SPEAKER_03]: The instant you begin your descent down the stairs and this time because you're not saying one of the specific past phrases they stay that [SPEAKER_03]: dark black substance the instant your foot hits the stairs it's just like bang bang bang bang bang the bell is ringing it'scessantly in your mind and when you reach out with that like thin thread of mental connection dora they instantly stop as in surprised response [SPEAKER_03]: You hear nothing after that, but you can tell that whether what you thought was heard or not, something was heard.
[SPEAKER_04]: Do Vic and I hear the bells clanging differently as well?
[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_03]: And you hear them stop.
[SPEAKER_03]: And you probably see a surprise look on Doris' face like I did that.
[SPEAKER_03]: You descend those stairs.
[SPEAKER_03]: And for a time, of course, all is unknown, all is unknowable.
[SPEAKER_03]: At some point, the desolate ethers of your descent begin to thin in you.
[SPEAKER_03]: You all hear a low bass chuckle.
[SPEAKER_03]: A faint whisper drifts through your mind.
[SPEAKER_02]: That is not dead, which can eternal life.
[SPEAKER_02]: And with strange eons, even death may die.
[SPEAKER_03]: And then, [SPEAKER_03]: You stand in vast, featureless desert, freezing, under the bright white light of the massive moon, taking up far too much of the night sky.
[SPEAKER_03]: And even despite the size and the brightness of the moon, you can still see a rich, dense, endless field of stars and galaxies blazing up there on the other side of the moon in the endless darkness of outer space.
[SPEAKER_03]: And because this is so different than the last five times you traveled here, you're able to fairly quickly shrug off the loose half memories of the seven or eight months of planning, the trek into the waist, to the weak on camelback, or was it camels?
[SPEAKER_03]: Fort leg at least of some sort of six, maybe six legs?
[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know, passing the abandoned wreck, discarded in the eastern desert shapes and shadows and towers and structures, none of it, none of it, none of it, real.
[SPEAKER_03]: You're here.
[SPEAKER_03]: It's night.
[SPEAKER_03]: It is below freezing right now.
[SPEAKER_03]: How do you appear?
[SPEAKER_00]: Torra is dressed in desert travel garb layers of wraps so that you can remove when it's hot and add when it's like this and protect yourself from the sun without bundling up too tightly so that you can still, you know, process fluid through your body.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_05]: that works also dressed like they walked off the set of dune.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: Are they in their own body?
[SPEAKER_05]: In their own body.
[SPEAKER_06]: Vic is dressed like a cross between one of the cowboys out of Silverado and the man with no name with one of those hachoes.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, yes, yes, yes.
[SPEAKER_03]: So the place is still a ruin, but it is not currently abandoned.
[SPEAKER_03]: The first unexpected set your eye is immediately drawn to is the massive creature standing atop the patio on the second floor in front of the door to the yellow king's room.
[SPEAKER_03]: It's way bigger than an elephant and it looks like a slimy, scaly, purple, two-legged dragon with three with red eyes and huge wings.
[SPEAKER_03]: It is a shantok, a purple shantok.
[SPEAKER_03]: And it's wearing a big old houda on its back.
[SPEAKER_03]: Big enough to carry at least four humans made of teak with bronze posts, supporting a silken roof.
[SPEAKER_03]: I have art for the shantok with houda.
[SPEAKER_03]: Two legs.
[SPEAKER_03]: You said two legs on this dragonlight creature.
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm like I trust a houda on a two-legged.
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, you will when you see it.
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, almost.
[SPEAKER_03]: Almost, you're a decent purple.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it kind of looks like a gigantic philosopher Raptor wearing an elephant style how that gets pronounced how to how to how to how to [SPEAKER_03]: So that's standing up on the place that you used to climb up to get into the Yellow King's room.
[SPEAKER_06]: So wait, is all that fixed?
[SPEAKER_03]: No.
[SPEAKER_03]: It is exactly as crumpled in the south east corner as it had been.
[SPEAKER_03]: It's just standing up on that patio.
[SPEAKER_03]: Like where you all began the fight against the other Yellow King that for your first time.
[SPEAKER_00]: The Yellow King is prepared for a rival.
[SPEAKER_03]: Another unexpected sight is the pair of emaciated hairless canine creatures, four feet at the top of their shoulders, and seemingly made of solid shadow stuff, standing in the entrance tunnel that leads into the first floor of the caravan's ride, looking out, right at you, and they seem just as surprised to see you as you are to see them.
[SPEAKER_03]: As is the second shantok, you can see down in the central courtyard past them.
[SPEAKER_03]: Roll for initiative.
[SPEAKER_04]: Or are there any beings in the Houda?
[SPEAKER_04]: Nope.
[SPEAKER_04]: Houda.
[SPEAKER_05]: Can't we dig her for a little while longer before we finish this?
[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, Dadwick.
[SPEAKER_03]: Twenty.
[SPEAKER_03]: Gripper, fourteen.
[SPEAKER_03]: Dora, eighteen, and thick.
[SPEAKER_03]: Twenty-four on rides.
[SPEAKER_00]: Do the shunt talks, wings, they look functional.
[SPEAKER_03]: Very functional.
[SPEAKER_03]: You know that they can fly, not just through the air, but through outer space.
[SPEAKER_03]: I know that.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: Cool.
[SPEAKER_03]: Let's tame them.
[SPEAKER_03]: I hope YK is okay.
[SPEAKER_03]: As round one begins, Vic stands about ten feet outside of the entrance hall, out of the entrance tunnel to the first floor of the caravan's arrive, and it looks like about thirty-five feet or so away from one of these two shadow hounds.
[SPEAKER_03]: It looks like almost all of the doors into those first entrance halls are open.
[SPEAKER_03]: The two doors to the western hallway that eventually leads to the shop and then to the dining hall, those are both open.
[SPEAKER_03]: On the east side, one of the two doors to the collapsed room.
[SPEAKER_03]: Over there is open, and the door that leads to the guard post where you will find the warpal sword that door is open as well.
[SPEAKER_03]: Because up first these hounds seem surprised but quite aggressive.
[SPEAKER_06]: Can I make a knowledge check against them before I do anything else?
[SPEAKER_03]: Palanes.
[SPEAKER_06]: Palanes!
[SPEAKER_06]: There's a fifteen tell me anything?
[SPEAKER_06]: I'm doubtful.
[SPEAKER_03]: I think you know what they are.
[SPEAKER_03]: These are yes hounds, which are evil, outsider canines, highly intelligent.
[SPEAKER_03]: They delight in hunting intelligent prey.
[SPEAKER_03]: You know of them as dogs that lope through the night skies.
[SPEAKER_03]: That's right, flying and you would know a little thing.
[SPEAKER_03]: You would know that they have a [SPEAKER_03]: Terrifying, terrifying howl.
[SPEAKER_03]: That is likely to fill all that here with dread.
[SPEAKER_02]: Hmm.
[SPEAKER_03]: Fortitude save on that I better it.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: Is it everything in the fear-based fortitude?
[SPEAKER_06]: I will pop an extract of channel vigor.
[SPEAKER_06]: Where are you gonna put that vigor?
[SPEAKER_06]: I will put it into my spirit.
[SPEAKER_06]: Ooh, what does that do?
[SPEAKER_06]: A plus six confidence bonus on wheel saving throws and bluff and intimidate checks.
[SPEAKER_06]: Nice.
[SPEAKER_06]: And then as a move action, I will draw vanity.
[SPEAKER_03]: Right now the party is in a perfect line from west to east, Vic, then Dora, then Gripp, then Dabwick.
[SPEAKER_03]: Do you want to take five foot step anywhere?
[SPEAKER_06]: As part of my move, I will draw it on the move.
[SPEAKER_06]: Yep.
[SPEAKER_06]: Moving to get next to the wall.
[SPEAKER_03]: Talking behind the corner and out of sight.
[SPEAKER_03]: Scatter.
[SPEAKER_03]: Dad, you're a fact.
[SPEAKER_05]: Dad was gonna take a full round action to cast a spell and they also take a five foot step.
[SPEAKER_05]: They can.
[SPEAKER_05]: They're going to take a five foot step behind the roll.
[SPEAKER_05]: The roll gripper.
[SPEAKER_03]: down to put those hundred and six hit points in front of you as part of my job description yeah meet shield and then how number one the one that's closest to you is up it does indeed rear its head back and how and [SPEAKER_03]: the sound of this thing just rebounds off the walls of the caravan's right and fills all of you with a terrifying bowel loosening dread.
[SPEAKER_03]: I need will save from everybody and these are saves against fear.
[SPEAKER_03]: Gripper.
[UNKNOWN]: No.
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm a tweeter here.
[SPEAKER_03]: How much more of the book could be left?
[SPEAKER_04]: I've only used to this level.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: So far.
[SPEAKER_03]: That is the nice thing.
[SPEAKER_03]: We've just started.
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't want to go run away right at the beginning of this fight.
[SPEAKER_04]: So we're going to do it.
[SPEAKER_03]: Nineteen.
[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_03]: And Dora.
[SPEAKER_00]: Thirteen.
[SPEAKER_03]: And Dabwick.
[SPEAKER_03]: Twenty-seven and thick around the corner there a natural one [SPEAKER_03]: Or a sixteen.
[SPEAKER_03]: Doesn't even matter what this is.
[SPEAKER_03]: I know.
[SPEAKER_03]: I know.
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm well aware of that.
[SPEAKER_03]: Prepare to be so furious.
[SPEAKER_03]: Gripper Dora and Dabwick shrug off the supernatural fear effect.
[SPEAKER_03]: Effect.
[SPEAKER_03]: But.
[SPEAKER_03]: Vick is panicked.
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh.
[SPEAKER_03]: Drops everything and runs.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh god, it's the worst possible outcome.
[SPEAKER_03]: Shades of the end of book one.
[SPEAKER_06]: Well, you all have a great time.
[SPEAKER_06]: Next time I will be doing something, I guess.
[SPEAKER_03]: And then the hound floats through the air to close with Dora.
[SPEAKER_03]: Five feet away from Dora, five feet away from Grip.
[SPEAKER_03]: Dora, you're up next, face to face with this shadow yethhow.
[SPEAKER_03]: And you can see, it is written all over Vix face.
[SPEAKER_03]: What is about to happen?
[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm sure for the two of you, as you as the two of you are looking right at him, it's like you just, you see that moment up in the top of that tower where go at that time.
[SPEAKER_00]: Drops shit and ran well do I got a thirty on our knowledge plans check?
[SPEAKER_03]: Let's add some knowledge to this spell resistance a small amount of spell resistance damage reduction only overcome by silver weapons and they have a small amount of resistance to cold and electricity So that's DR five silver resistance five cold and electricity [SPEAKER_03]: I think you would also know, it's pretty obvious to tell these are built like K-Nines you probably can imagine that they are going to try to pull you to the ground with their teeth if they bite you.
[SPEAKER_00]: Do I know that they have any special senses with that dirty?
[SPEAKER_00]: Dark vision in scent.
[SPEAKER_00]: Scent?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_00]: How badly does scent screw us over if we're invisible?
[SPEAKER_07]: Hmm.
[SPEAKER_03]: They can use their scent to locate your position, but not as easily as with blind sense or blind sight.
[SPEAKER_03]: And it doesn't help them hit you if they even find you.
[SPEAKER_03]: They basically have to take an action to pinpoint your location.
[SPEAKER_03]: rather than blinds sense where they can, they just know where you are.
[SPEAKER_03]: Even if they can't see you.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to move five feet back.
[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody's getting behind the gripper.
[SPEAKER_00]: And cast invisibility sphere.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, the three of us, sorry back, I can't get you.
[SPEAKER_03]: So the hound is ten feet away from you.
[SPEAKER_03]: Can you leave it out?
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, you know what?
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think you might not be able to.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, in which case.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not doing that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, God, all creatures within ten feet.
[SPEAKER_00]: That sucks.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: Is there anywhere I can go where that doesn't happen?
[SPEAKER_00]: No.
[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
[SPEAKER_00]: He's always in to me ten feet for me.
[SPEAKER_04]: You want to wait and see if I can kill him?
[SPEAKER_03]: Hmm?
[SPEAKER_03]: It's an option too.
[SPEAKER_03]: Take some time, look through your spellbooks and stuff, see if you have anything that can help grip out, or if you're out before he runs away.
[SPEAKER_00]: I do have that, but I have a move action to draw it, and I got it.
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, you wanted to lay then?
[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe see if Grypton.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, just wait till, just delay till after me.
[SPEAKER_04]: Let me see if how much damage I can come out.
[SPEAKER_04]: Nice.
[SPEAKER_04]: Because I'm going to attack him next turn.
[SPEAKER_04]: And Grypton is up next.
[SPEAKER_04]: Great.
[SPEAKER_04]: He's going to strike unarmed with his silvered fucking fist.
[SPEAKER_04]: Here we go.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_04]: Take four attacks.
[SPEAKER_04]: Nice.
[SPEAKER_04]: Take the feet.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, I should.
[SPEAKER_04]: Why not?
[SPEAKER_04]: Why the fuck not?
[SPEAKER_04]: We'll do a dedicated adversary.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yethhound.
[SPEAKER_07]: Yethhound.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yethhound.
[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, we're children.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're absolute children.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's nice to know.
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll always be kids.
[SPEAKER_04]: All right.
[SPEAKER_04]: Since I know I'm overcoming the damage reduction, there's no need to pull it all into one.
[SPEAKER_04]: Correct for this.
[SPEAKER_04]: So correct.
[SPEAKER_04]: So just we'll do one at a time.
[SPEAKER_04]: Great.
[SPEAKER_04]: First time.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's a twenty-two.
[SPEAKER_04]: Keep it up.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah?
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah?
[SPEAKER_04]: Excellent.
[SPEAKER_03]: uh...
for thirteen points of damage that is a hard hit relative to this creatures uh...
physical fortitude not quite bloodying it but uh...
bam all right attack number two that dog feels that hit punch that dog rubber uh...
that's an eighteen hit twelve points of damage the yeth hound is almost dead kill it third attack [SPEAKER_04]: That's a seventeen on the dice so that's gonna be a hit yep Relative those last ones for eleven points of damage and it drops Great, I'm gonna go and Toro will pop back into the initiative you want to take a five foot step their gripper before she um [SPEAKER_03]: No, let's see what happens next.
[SPEAKER_03]: Got it.
[SPEAKER_03]: So we're back to Dora again.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, here's what I'm gonna do.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yep.
[SPEAKER_00]: I would take a five-ed set behind group.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_00]: Draw the scroll of remove fear.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_00]: Has a range of close, but since it's a first-level scroll, I can only do one person, but I will use a first-level spell slot and my nemonic robes to cast that on Vic, which will suppress the fear effect for ten minutes.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, maybe.
[SPEAKER_00]: And give him, I think, a plus former album is on the second ounce.
[SPEAKER_03]: The fear effect is suppressed, and Johnny, a plus four morale bonus against fear effects for the next ten minutes.
[SPEAKER_03]: Ooh, you're out of the fight.
[SPEAKER_03]: Back at the fight.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, but then it is on the ground.
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, it sure is.
[SPEAKER_03]: You dropped that shit.
[SPEAKER_03]: I sure did.
[SPEAKER_03]: The second hound is up.
[SPEAKER_03]: This one was deeper inside the caravan's ride.
[SPEAKER_03]: It was basically at the other end of the tunnel where it opens up into the central courtyard.
[SPEAKER_03]: It also unleashes a terrifying howl.
[SPEAKER_03]: I need four more will saves.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god.
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh no, gripper.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's another tweener.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's another tweener, but I don't want to be panic.
[SPEAKER_00]: I pass with a thirteen last time.
[SPEAKER_04]: All right.
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I don't think I'm willing to risk that a twelve would be good.
[SPEAKER_04]: But I will use an action point, I guess?
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh God.
[SPEAKER_04]: Because I don't want to him to go running into the fucking desert.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, you really don't.
[SPEAKER_00]: Somebody's gonna have to come out with me.
[SPEAKER_04]: So, that's a, that's an eight, an eight team.
[SPEAKER_03]: Eight team, okay, uh, Debwick.
[SPEAKER_03]: Twenty six.
[SPEAKER_03]: And how bad was it?
[SPEAKER_00]: Natural one.
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, there we go.
[SPEAKER_03]: God.
[SPEAKER_03]: And Vic.
[SPEAKER_03]: Thirty eight.
[SPEAKER_03]: Clamps is shit down.
[SPEAKER_03]: Unfortunately, Dora drops whatever she had been holding was that a spell book?
[SPEAKER_03]: What was that?
[SPEAKER_03]: Was it a scroll?
[SPEAKER_03]: It was a scroll.
[SPEAKER_03]: She drops the scroll and we'll start running.
[SPEAKER_03]: Everybody else is okay.
[SPEAKER_03]: As the hound.
[SPEAKER_03]: Easily swars up the sixty feet to close with grip.
[SPEAKER_03]: Who's a good boy?
[SPEAKER_03]: Who's a good boy?
[SPEAKER_03]: Back inside the central courtyard of the caravan's ride.
[SPEAKER_03]: You see that shuntock?
[SPEAKER_03]: Rear it like duckets head down to look through the tunnel at what's going on here.
[SPEAKER_03]: Sees grip standing there and noops out.
[SPEAKER_03]: Take soft into the air and appears to fly the fuck away.
[SPEAKER_04]: Let that be a lesson to the rest of you, Sean talks.
[SPEAKER_06]: Round two, Vic, you're up.
[SPEAKER_06]: Vic sees Dora get the exact same look in her eyes that he had and he's like, oh shit.
[SPEAKER_06]: And he charges her and grapples her.
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, nice.
[SPEAKER_03]: Nice.
[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
[SPEAKER_03]: You beat my CMD.
[SPEAKER_03]: He makes her his, uh, study target.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_03]: Don't roll natural one or she's gonna slip out of your hands.
[SPEAKER_03]: God, why do you gotta say things?
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, it's literally why I'm here.
[SPEAKER_06]: Is my only purpose that is that is not true That is not true even remotely all right Honey voices in harassment.
[SPEAKER_03]: That's kind of why I'm here cheating.
[SPEAKER_06]: It's gonna be it's gonna be the same thing as as my district.
[SPEAKER_06]: I imagine Nope, make give me a CM Beach.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh CM B I might I wouldn't make my own CM Beach Natural twenty natural twenty all right [SPEAKER_03]: Races over leaving vanity on the ground behind him.
[SPEAKER_03]: He throws his arms around door to try to stop her from running the fuck away.
[SPEAKER_03]: Then, deep inside the caravanceride, you hear a cascading bellow of howls.
[SPEAKER_03]: Sounds like maybe two, three, four, more dogs, barking the fuck away.
[SPEAKER_03]: I don't want to do four more willsays.
[SPEAKER_03]: This is going to be the willsay version of the Gast part.
[SPEAKER_03]: Mr.
You want them?
[SPEAKER_03]: Alright, you see, yetthound three, having come from a long ways away, make its way outside of that western set of double doors that leads back to the shop and the sundry shop and the dining room.
[SPEAKER_03]: Shortly thereafter, another one follows.
[SPEAKER_03]: Two of them in the mouth of the doorway there, which then brings us up to Dabwick.
[SPEAKER_03]: Dabwick, what appears at the top of your turn?
[SPEAKER_05]: Would you please place on the field for me?
[SPEAKER_05]: Two.
[SPEAKER_05]: Griffins.
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, Griffins, how fun!
[SPEAKER_05]: They find, they pounce, they rake.
[SPEAKER_03]: Two, massive majestic beasts with the body of a lion, the head and four legs of a great eagle, and a massive pair of feathered wings materialized.
[SPEAKER_03]: Where do they appear, Paul?
[SPEAKER_05]: They're gonna take up a lot of space in this hallway, aren't they?
[SPEAKER_05]: The edge of the tunnel?
[SPEAKER_05]: There are big creatures.
[SPEAKER_03]: They appear like flank on the hounds there.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_03]: Awesome.
[SPEAKER_03]: So, one, a Griffin number one appears to the north of Yethown number three, and Griffin number two appears to the south of Yethown number four, well and sufficiently taking up much of the space of this entrance corridor into the central courtyard.
[SPEAKER_05]: Griffin number one will take a full attack on Yethown number three.
[SPEAKER_05]: For the bite attack, that's a nineteen on the dive for a twenty-nine to hit.
[SPEAKER_05]: for eight points of biting damage.
[SPEAKER_01]: Sweet, sweet biting damage.
[SPEAKER_03]: It's the best guy.
[SPEAKER_03]: Takes it.
[SPEAKER_05]: One talon strike.
[SPEAKER_05]: Rake, Rake.
[SPEAKER_05]: That's a sixteen total.
[SPEAKER_05]: Hit.
[SPEAKER_05]: Seven points of damage.
[SPEAKER_03]: It's bloody.
[SPEAKER_05]: Second attack.
[SPEAKER_05]: Third, I mean, third.
[SPEAKER_05]: The second talon attack.
[SPEAKER_05]: Ooh, that's not gonna do as well.
[SPEAKER_05]: A thirteen to hit.
[SPEAKER_03]: That's a miss.
[SPEAKER_05]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_03]: All right, Griffin number two.
[SPEAKER_03]: Griffin number two.
[SPEAKER_03]: Going after the the other hound.
[SPEAKER_05]: You have found four.
[SPEAKER_03]: Bring it.
[SPEAKER_03]: Here comes the beak.
[SPEAKER_05]: So that's a twenty one to hit.
[SPEAKER_05]: That's eight points of damage.
[SPEAKER_03]: Nice, bite damage.
[SPEAKER_03]: Bite, bite, bite, bite, bite damage.
[SPEAKER_05]: Talent attack.
[SPEAKER_05]: That's a twenty two.
[SPEAKER_05]: for eight more points.
[SPEAKER_03]: It's bloody.
[SPEAKER_03]: Claw eat down it.
[SPEAKER_03]: Claw eat.
[SPEAKER_05]: And an eighteen to hit.
[SPEAKER_05]: Hit.
[SPEAKER_05]: That's a seven four points of claw damage.
[SPEAKER_03]: Nice.
[SPEAKER_03]: Well, and thoroughly bloody, not looking too great.
[SPEAKER_05]: Now, dabox turn.
[SPEAKER_03]: Cowering behind Ripper.
[SPEAKER_03]: Right next to Dora, who has Vick's arms hurled about her.
[SPEAKER_05]: Now, um, just for shits and gigs.
[SPEAKER_03]: Mad monkeys?
[SPEAKER_05]: No, but...
Could Dabwick pick up the scroll of remove fear and try and cast it on Dora, even though remove fear is not on their spell list.
[SPEAKER_03]: Only if Dabwick has the use is trained in use magic device.
[SPEAKER_03]: There's literally no way in the world.
[SPEAKER_03]: That's true.
[SPEAKER_03]: I don't.
[SPEAKER_03]: I don't.
[SPEAKER_05]: I don't.
[SPEAKER_03]: You're a charisma.
[SPEAKER_03]: Probably means you don't.
[SPEAKER_05]: No, you're right.
[SPEAKER_05]: You're right.
[SPEAKER_05]: I do have a read magic.
[SPEAKER_05]: Prepared.
[SPEAKER_05]: No.
[SPEAKER_03]: It's awesome, but that doesn't have you.
[SPEAKER_05]: Congratulations.
[SPEAKER_03]: You cannot cast a spell that you do not know.
[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_05]: That was going to cast slate skin on themselves.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yep.
[SPEAKER_03]: Boosted armor class.
[SPEAKER_03]: There's skin hardens over with gray slate.
[SPEAKER_03]: Won't you take a move anywhere?
[SPEAKER_05]: And yes.
[SPEAKER_03]: Or draw anything to hand.
[SPEAKER_05]: You know what I'm gonna pull out is the, um, the wand of curlight wounds.
[SPEAKER_05]: Dressed to be handy.
[SPEAKER_03]: Just in case.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: Next up is Yethhound number five.
[SPEAKER_03]: Kozizin right next to yethown number four around the corner of the doorway from griffin number two.
[SPEAKER_03]: Looking like it is hungry and ready to get into the fight.
[SPEAKER_03]: It's double move for it though, so it does not obey on this turn.
[SPEAKER_03]: And then, shit takes a turn for the serious y'all.
[SPEAKER_03]: as stepping out of the guard chamber through the open door.
[SPEAKER_03]: Right next to Griffin number one is a fucking Denison of leg.
[SPEAKER_03]: But that's the end of chapter one forty five.
[SPEAKER_04]: We're gonna continue this fight next time.
[SPEAKER_03]: Just some garden variety off-brand Denison of Link.

[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, my fucking God.
