Episode Transcript

From our daily newsletter, the latest from podnews.net with Riverside.

Consuming podcasts on TV has doubled in the UK in the past two years, according to Edison Research's The UK Podcast Consumer 2025, which was released yesterday.

The research also suggests that Spotify is the main podcast platform used in the country, BBC Sounds being more popular than Apple Podcasts.

For the first time in the US, 18 to 29-year-olds now listen to podcasts just as much as AMFM radio.

About 10 years ago, AMFM listening was seven times larger than podcast listening.

Steve Boom of Amazon doesn't want us to think that the Wondery reorg is anything to worry about for the industry at large.

Podcasting at an industry level is doing incredibly well, he tells the Ankler in an interview today.

And he adds, I think it's doing really well here too.

He also suggests that narrative shows are monetized better when supported by subscriptions rather than purely an ads revenue stream.

Boom also spoke with Variety, where he claimed an acceleration of video podcasting is really what prompted this restructuring.

Well, we've spoken to other people, including Dan Granger from Oxford Road.

There were a lot of smart people that made that a real prestige brand in the space.

And Sean King from Veritone.

That restructuring kind of is a little bit more of a recalibration into more potentially integrated audio ecosystems.

You can hear more from both of those in the Pod News Weekly Review this week.
