[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, life is amazing, can be, but there's choices.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's choices.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's choices.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's some directions.
[SPEAKER_00]: Left, right, or straight?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes you got a backtrack a little bit.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Which is no problem.
[SPEAKER_01]: No.
[SPEAKER_01]: No big deal.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't like to do it.
[SPEAKER_01]: We want to avoid it if possible.
[SPEAKER_01]: So we're here to tell you, maybe go left, maybe go right, maybe go straight.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's true.
[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe we need to backtrack.
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll let you know.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'll prove your chances of success.
[SPEAKER_00]: All right, first question.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a big fan of podcasts.
[SPEAKER_00]: I always wisdom that connects whatever challenge I'm facing.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm grateful for that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I'm 23 year old.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a 23 year old male recently went back to college for engineering.
[SPEAKER_00]: I work as an electrician now and hope to move up in the field, possibly becoming an engineer.
[SPEAKER_00]: I enjoy it, but my real passion is, but as I introduce it to me.
[SPEAKER_00]: and makes martial arts.
[SPEAKER_00]: In a world of, okay, in a world full of distractions, party, girls, etc.
[SPEAKER_00]: Due to an MMA have kept me focused, disciplined, and on the right path.
[SPEAKER_00]: Over the past three years, I've transformed from a skinny, out-of-shape dye into a warrior.
[SPEAKER_00]: I even made my amateur MMA debut recently, winning by first round Rere Naked Chilk.
[SPEAKER_00]: Since going back to school, I had to cut work hours and lost income.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm okay living simply, but I'm struggling to afford training and quality food.
[SPEAKER_00]: My diet has been a key part of my progress.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I worry losing that.
[SPEAKER_00]: It will set me back.
[SPEAKER_00]: What's your advice for making an extra money on the side or maintaining top level training and nutrition on a tight budget?
[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you again for all the guidance and wisdom.
[SPEAKER_01]: yeah check awesome man sounds like you're on a on a good path uh let's talk about food i think at this juncture low on money you got to get in the meal prep game you got a hundred percent getting the bulk by meal prep game ground beef then you have some ground beef combo you got going on yeah go go go go go the quick ground beef recipe [SPEAKER_00]: Grumbief rice, you mean you can buy huge sacks of rice by the way, or not for next and nothing, panties on the dollar and he's on the dollar, seasoning of your choice, ground beef, some salt and pepper in there, whatever, but like I said season of your choosing, ground grumbief rice.
[SPEAKER_00]: I put spaghetti sauce, but you can put whatever kind of sauce, soy sauce, if you want whatever and I put honey mustard, and then sometimes I put sauce, there's a bunch of different ones, but that's the base base one for me topping up onions, gives ground beef so much extra flavor, and the other thing is you throw a little bacon in there.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's just so many options.
[SPEAKER_01]: So anyways, you get meal prep, you cook a bunch of it, and you just eat and it's just no factor.
[SPEAKER_01]: So that's one, 10 chicken is one that I've, has always been a friend of mine.
[SPEAKER_01]: Basically, cause I don't really like tuna fish in the can, but you can get 10 chicken at Costco.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's, I forget how many grams of protein in there, but it's a lot of protein, 40-ish.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's like 40-ish grams of protein and some a little bit of fat, no carbs.
[SPEAKER_00]: Very little fat.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, those kind of things, megal prep all day, and then go to the right stores, like there's stores that have discounted stuff, man.
[SPEAKER_01]: Either big giant box stores like Costco or Walmart, or you go to a place like grocery outlet where you're getting stuff that's like going to go bad in three days, but...
[SPEAKER_01]: They had it in a big store for six days and it didn't sell so they moved it over here for a day three days two days Something like that you can get some really good deals on that stuff cook it up put in the freezer [SPEAKER_01]: That three days, just went out to a month, bro.
[SPEAKER_01]: Another thing you can, so, you know, you hit the grocery outlet, type school, Lindi, I think, or Lindi, there's a store called a winco food.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's a bunch of stores, depending on where you are regionally.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then you got your grocery stores, you're going to a regular grocery store, H-E-B, Meyer, like, you will get, you get the bulk activity in there, but you've got to go in there with the right mindset.
[SPEAKER_01]: Right attitude.
[SPEAKER_01]: Right attitude.
[SPEAKER_01]: Farmers markets too.
[SPEAKER_01]: You can find some little you can get a connection build a relationship with somebody that is going to bring chicken You build that relationship or or they you make a make a relationship with the butcher You know like hey man, I got a buy like start buying massive the all the ground beef that they have they'll give you a good discount dude [SPEAKER_01]: Protein powders.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's face it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Protein powders.
[SPEAKER_01]: When you look at it what it costs to buy protein versus protein But you go and get some of that milk you're getting good clean protein.
[SPEAKER_01]: That it's not expensive So add that in there and then you just got to get your meal prep on.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what we're doing [SPEAKER_01]: Um, as far as side money goes, there's a bunch of different options right now.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you got Uber, you got Uber, you got Uber, you got Lyft, you got a Instacard, you got all those things.
[SPEAKER_01]: And those are all little money makers.
[SPEAKER_01]: However, you're an electrician bro.
[SPEAKER_01]: You have a skill that is you could hopefully make more money, handyman activities, emergency work for other electrical companies, like there's problems that happen in people's houses where they need someone to come in.
[SPEAKER_01]: Not as often as plumbing.
[SPEAKER_01]: because that's facing people at plumbing problems all the time and plumbing problem you need help immediately.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know power goes out.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but that doesn't happen as often where an electrician is going to come in and handle it.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you don't short circuit stuff as often as plumbing issues.
[SPEAKER_01]: But general handyman stuff of your electrician, you know how to deal all kinds of stuff.
[SPEAKER_01]: So you throw that ad on Craigslist or Facebook ads or whatever and you can go and just start making that a little bit of money on the side Do a little projects on the weekends Check in with a big contractor because big contractors they might have some stuff that they didn't get caught up on they need some going to come in on the weekend and get that work done [SPEAKER_01]: It's a way to make a little bit of sign money.
[SPEAKER_01]: Then you got the door man slash bounce rack to have the echo Charles very skilled in this arena.
[SPEAKER_01]: How much you make on a Friday night?
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah, depending on the club, obviously, but yeah, yeah, you can do, yeah, a few hundred dollars.
[SPEAKER_01]: In tips of you, meaning three hundred dollars.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: 300 bucks in a night, you know, they're Friday and Saturday night.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's 600 bones.
[SPEAKER_01]: Plus, you got that minimum wage rolling, they pay you minimum wage on top.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you legit.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, because only the front door.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's, it really depends on the club.
[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, look into that 100%.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because you're training, you're just through your training, MMA.
[SPEAKER_01]: You got to skill.
[SPEAKER_01]: Put that skill to work.
[SPEAKER_01]: So those, that's what we're doing there for side money.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then also, you know, the price of the gym.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, this is why we go and we talked to the gym owner.
[SPEAKER_01]: We say, hey, man, listen, I want to, what can I do to get my need to say 50 bucks a month?
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you're charging me 150 bucks a month.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, can I say 50 bucks a month if I sweep up?
[SPEAKER_01]: Can I get a free membership?
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll sweep up.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll be here.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll help with the kids class, whatever.
[SPEAKER_01]: Whatever you're going to do, you can't leave me, you know, maybe helping out with classes is a bit much because in now you're also in your dedicating time to be an instructor.
[SPEAKER_01]: But sweeping up the mats at night.
[SPEAKER_01]: So even up in the mats in the morning or whatever, cleaning up the place, doing some electrical work around there.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dude, I got a big ass gym.
[SPEAKER_01]: We need electrical work sometimes.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I'm saying?
[SPEAKER_01]: Got a row with a light goes out.
[SPEAKER_01]: Even if something's up like that, you're like, okay, light's going out.
[SPEAKER_01]: I've got it.
[SPEAKER_01]: You need some rewiring done, I got it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And just put yourself kind of on retainer.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know?
[SPEAKER_01]: And you know what's, so then you can save some money there.
[SPEAKER_01]: So those are the things I would do.
[SPEAKER_01]: Epic food prep, bulk buying in bulk, cheap places, epic food prep.
[SPEAKER_01]: Side money.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's a ton of side gigs you can do, hustle, what they call, no, they don't call hustle economy, gig economy, gig economy, we're doing little side projects, whatever that is.
[SPEAKER_01]: But you're gonna, you got skills, put those skills to use, and then see what you can do around the gym.
[SPEAKER_01]: Form that relationship, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, [SPEAKER_01]: But your has left over cuts dude sometimes and I want to get rid of you know if they got your number You come by pay half price you know what I'm saying build some relationships people used to just barter for thing So that is a little excerpt of what we are doing on the jocco underground podcast so if you want to continue to listen [SPEAKER_01]: go to jockelunderground.com and subscribe and we're doing this, we're doing this to mitigate our reliance on external platforms so we are not subject to their control and we are doing this so that we can support the jockel podcast which will remain as is free for all as long as we can keep it that way but we are doing this so we don't have to be under the control [SPEAKER_01]: And we're doing it so we can give you more control, more interaction, more direct connections, better communications with us.
