Episode Transcript
Welcome to John's Family podcast for this week now.
Today on the show, we had a very very special one.
Of course, we are talking NRL Grand Final with Cooper and Camp with the Storm a little bit of insight there.
Cooper does his greatest Hits concert on greatest Ragua League Players of all time with chat, a couple of times about Elvis the King, and we touch on Ted Bundy, Best and World Seria, Killer films, Maddie Strange, News, Mount Rushmore, greatest music videos in our opinions, and last, this is the This is the big one, guys, this is the kicker.
Last week we had Brandon Smith who joined us for a guest appearance.
This week have a guest who's going to join us, Cameron Smith himself ahead of what could be his final ever game.
Cooper organized him.
Speaker 2Cooper, good job, well done, Coeps, Thank.
Speaker 3You very much.
Speaker 4Maddie.
I don't like you, know me, I don't like the accolades and things taking all the credit, but I will if I have to you.
Speaker 1You must well done mate, Actually this time you deserve the credit.
Listen Prodigal Sun return.
Speaker 5He'd been a day Jack.
Speaker 1John's after the elimination of City on Saturday night, the boys went for just a bit of a review of the season, and he's just turned up before podcast.
I went together around all the telegraph poles in the area and take down the missing signs.
It's good to see, but I must say, you're The reception you got when you walked in the door is dramatically different to the reception Trish used to give when ice to come into the door when I was missing for a few days.
Yeah, yeah, you actually cooked him breakfast.
Speaker 5Of course I did, cooked in breakfast, gave him some vitamins, made fresh juice, vegetable juice.
Speaker 3It was Yeah, it.
Speaker 6Was twelve o'clock.
Speaker 1I used get fingernails down my back and then what did you do when she catching on?
It's contagious.
Speaker 5Thanks man.
Speaker 1Now, let's kick this off because we're going to make some room for Cameron Smith family to kick us off today.
If you were a rugularly grand fine cooper, which would you be?
Speaker 4I did Manly versus Melbourne two thousand and eight where many one forty er because I'm a very dominant figure and quite aggressive.
Speaker 1So true.
What about you, Jack, if you're able to talk?
Speaker 6Okay, I've gone with the two thousand and five West Tigers versus Cowboys game Benji flick pass Pat Richards.
I have no reason why.
It's the first thing that came to my head, and I wrote it down real quick.
Speaker 5I had to take what you could get.
Speaker 1You're going to get some officers go on the Bachelor or double O double five numbers.
I'm Jack John's do.
Speaker 5You think women?
Speaker 2Do you think women ring those numbers?
Speaker 7Uh?
Speaker 1Yeah, I think they would?
Speaker 3Do you?
Speaker 6Reckon called Selma before Marge's sister from the Simpsons.
Speaker 2Oh I love Selma?
Speaker 1What about Nutricia?
Me?
Speaker 5Funny enough?
Mine?
Is that same game that Cooper the two thousand and eight Storm versus Manly with Storm.
Speaker 1Loss against forty nil?
Speaker 2What wasn't forty to eight?
Didn't Cooper to say?
I didn't have.
Speaker 1Forty forty nil?
Speaker 6I thought you both of you much as the Storm.
Speaker 2I'm very confused as but remember you were with us too.
Speaker 5Remember we went with all the Manly fans and we've been for a few drinks beforehand.
Speaker 6How he how he how he from the Harbord absolutely sprayed Cooper, and as you can imagine, he took it very.
Speaker 5Well because I was very proud of Cooper in amongst the throng of manly fans that we were amongst.
Speaker 2I was going for now any particular.
Speaker 5And Coopy sat there the whole game very quietly with his Storm backpack on and his Storm paraphernalia.
And yeah, and they lost, and he.
Speaker 1Took it well and for once he didn't take that gear off at half time.
I've gone the nine Tigers versus Raiders.
I think it's still the greatest Grand Final war as a Tiger's fan.
It was a match which began with great hope and even at half time certainly of success, but ultimately ended in night with that.
Speaker 2So that was before I met you.
I didn't even know that was going on.
Speaker 1There was life before you.
Wow, Cooper.
We've just touched on the fact that Jack has been unsided by the way Jack in those couple of days where the boys were just sort of catching up, toasting the season.
Who was the best performer?
Who come on, give yourself a rap?
Who got the m VP?
What?
What gave you that award?
What was it?
Speaker 6Probably reasons I can't explain.
Speaker 1Okay, Cooper.
Another Grand Final being four in the last five years for the Melbourne Storm.
How's the move in the Campeal.
Speaker 3Diferent to what I've experienced before.
Speaker 4I've been in one Grand Final score before in twenty and eighteen, yep, and I think there was a it was a really different feel.
This this sort of group's a lot closer in my opinion.
Speaker 3Than that group, and I feel like they can really do something special and yeah, I guess we'll find it on Sunday.
Speaker 5What do you think the fact that you've all been living together for the past few quite a few months now has made that tight knitness of you all even closer praise tight knitness.
Speaker 3I think, yeah, I definitely, I definitely think so.
Speaker 4I think if I think obviously, if depending on what happens on Sunday, it'll be, it'll be a Grand Final that we'll all remember for the rest of our lives because obviously the year it was.
But the adversity that you know, we've we've overcome this year with moving away from our homes and being under really strict protocols up here, not leaving the resort and whatnot, I think I think that's ultimately led, if you know, it's led to the success for us to get to the Grand Final, and hopefully it leads to the success for us to win it, It's.
Speaker 1Gonna be a great Grand Final.
It's really funny, Cooper.
In two thousand and six, the Melbourne Storm lost to the Brisbane Broncos.
But I remember after that game feeling that that that match was passing of the baton from Brisbane being the best side of the previous fifteen years, the dominant force in rugby league to this young Storm side who are about to sort of dominate the next decade.
I'm not going to say the Storm are going to disappear from the from the radar.
I think you guys will still be a really dominant force in the next ten years.
But I think the main challenge for dominance in the next decade is going to come from this young Panthers side.
And on top of that, I think it's a real passing of the baton from Cameron Smith possibly to young Nathan Cleary.
Speaker 6You got to you really got to acknowledge the work that around the rock that apicorus I was done.
I was watching him the other night and some of the roaming he was doing throughout the middle, and well, he's he's a very special.
Speaker 1Player that spine.
Dylan Edwards is playing the best footballers career Jerome Ule eyes on fire as you said, happy and Nathan just speaks for himself.
Trish on a on a completely different note, Your hero Your heroine, Gladys Burry Giplian.
Speaker 5She's going through a tough time at the moment.
And last week I actually sat there, It's the first time I've ever done this watching Sky News, watched an i CAAC inquiry.
Speaker 1Which I thought that was too tough on it.
Speaker 3What is that?
Speaker 5Oh, it's an investigation.
It's sort of looking for any wrongdoing within the governments, and so she was brought into it, and I just I really felt for her.
So anyway, I thought, what can I do?
You know, I didn't want this woman to be brought down by man, and so I went through Instagram and sent her a message, did you saying something?
I think it was like stay strong, We're proud of you.
And then I sent her and then I realized I'd sent it from Matt's Instagram.
Speaker 1I love when she gets through this.
She stands up in the diocese, said, you know what got me through this, Joey's brother sent me a direct message and I appreciate that, but I am with you.
I didn't.
Speaker 5She's been our best premier for.
Speaker 1She has been our best premiere since I don't know when Nick Griner was did a lot of good stuff, as did Bob Carr, controversial figure Bob car but he did.
He did a lot for the infrastructure of Sydney.
But I think she has just about been our best.
We've gone through some duds in the last decade.
Speaker 5Or so, and it's really irritating me that the opposition leader is sort of coming out saying, oh, she needs to resign.
You know, the people wanted to.
Speaker 2You know, actually we don't do the people.
Speaker 1I know, we don't want to resigns us fun weekend, fun Sunday Trish with the boys being out, with Jack being out of the house.
Jack, it was like our parents escaping.
It's reversed.
Speaker 3It was weird.
Speaker 1It was the bubbles.
Speaker 6The bubbles bursted after see six seven months, so it would have been weird for your What was it like?
Speaker 1What was like?
We had from eight o'clock in the morning, we have music blaring.
This is some of the great old you can put it up.
Speaker 5That's not Jack's not he downstairs.
Speaker 1We'll listen to the sports.
You're on a train who listens to the rideout Way Out West?
Hadn't he that one?
Were were the James Rain version to another one?
Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs.
You forget what an incredible live artist Billy thought was His version of C C.
Speaker 6Rider was excuse me, very besides the music, what he was doing was any different behavior?
Was there any nude walking around the house or.
Speaker 1Walk doesn't barely get the old Feller out when it's human Sunday, but Sunday afternoon.
We actually we kicked him with a couple of movies.
Firstly, and Jack, a movie you're well aware of.
And Coop your may have seen it.
Elvis and Nixon.
I showed it, Nutricia, It's brilliant.
That's when Richard Nixon, the President of the United States.
Well he Elvis went to Richard Nixon and wanted to be a federal agent at large.
At large.
He wanted a badge, that's what.
And you know it's just I love the scene, Trish where he's sitting at the airport about to fly to Washington.
Elvis and the Elvis and personators came to him and said, man, you're fantastic.
Speaker 2No, but he wouldn't wear that.
Speaker 6Very past where he's doing the is demonstrating his karate moves for Nickon.
Speaker 2Yeah, that's pretty cringe.
Speaker 1That's so good and on that I said the truth during it when Elvison personators going to Elvisa made he wouldn't wear that, you know, Charlie Chaplin entered a Charlie Chaplin little like contest and came.
Third story.
Now, people, it's time for Maddie's Strange News.
I'm gathering some stories over the last month.
I'm just going to read them to you just because made.
They're my favorite stories in the last month.
The first one Jack passes on to me, I think this is just an incredible story story to come to New South Wales.
A farmer has been left frustrated by wild bush turkeys getting into his property and having sex with his chickens.
Speaker 6Oh, this is going to be a great leading for Cameron Smith coming on.
Speaker 1Okay, Coops, time for change of pace from wild bush turkeys onto greatest hits content at Cooper given a grand final week the greatest rugby league players of all time.
Let's go what what who you're kicking off with?
Speaker 4But I think it's only fitting that Billy Slater comes in at number one.
Obviously someone I've I've seen, I've seen first hand play and train his He's obviously everyone sees what he does on the field, he's a freak off the field.
Speaker 3Of training and is how intense he trains and talks.
It's no doubt he's in the list.
Speaker 1Get the me now.
Number two.
Speaker 3So number two I had Bradley Clyde.
Speaker 2Wow, Yep, he's a nice man.
Speaker 3Okay, it's not it's not how nice he is.
Speaker 5No, but I met him once or twice and he was very so one of the most polite people I've ever met.
Speaker 2Actually, very nice man.
Speaker 1Yeah, okay, the greatest regul league player guy.
Speaker 3Number number three Jonathan Thurston.
Yes, number four is n I don't really know.
Speaker 1You met him in Miami, Remember that when you were trying to drag me to go to bed and I was like, no, I'm going to hang with the dude, seening Robbie Farri for a while.
I remember as Trish was dragging me back to the room, they were laughing at me.
I was like, I never felt so small and petty, and that's saying something.
Speaker 5Yeah, but that's when we is that the night that we saved our mate who's married to Mary.
Speaker 1No, no, that was another night.
That was the night before when the next night you actually drive into bed as well.
Okay, sorry coops.
Speaker 4Next I had number four Cliffy lyons One.
Speaker 1What a player, one of the bits I.
Speaker 2Think in the top still playing somewhere.
Speaker 6No, no, but.
Speaker 1He only knocked it off about three or four years ago.
I'd say Cliffy in the top three or four ball players of all time.
Speaker 3Number five Malmoninger Man.
Speaker 5Beautiful, what a player, good man.
Speaker 1Remember playing against him for the first time.
I ran onto Canberra Stadium.
I looked across as we're about to kick off.
It was one of my first first grade games and I looked across the halfway and went, hold fuck, I'm about to play and I just took him down.
Speaker 3I need a shoulder charge him.
Number six Greg the Brandy Alexander.
Speaker 1And yes, yep, mate, I think there was a stretch when you're talking about the greatest half backs of the eighties into the nineties, into the early nineties.
You talk about they talk about Alfie Langer, and they talk about Ricky Stewart, but Brandy in a two year period there was the best player in the world.
Speaker 3Yeah, it's hard for me to judge.
Speaker 4Obviously I didn't see that, but I from the watch footage, I can see this is what I'm judging this list off number seven.
Speaker 3I mean, how could I leave this man out?
Speaker 7You know what I mean?
Speaker 3He's he's my Yes, he's my favorite.
Yes, he's my favorite, isn't.
Speaker 1It here we go?
Speaker 4Yes, he's my favorite person in the world.
Speaker 3I love him with all my heart.
Speaker 1Andrew Johns of all the put down to had that's probably the biggest kick.
Speaker 6In the gas Peter Sterling, to be honest.
Speaker 1Right, Okay, so that's seven.
I'm walking out after that.
Speaker 2You're only doing that because you're not.
Speaker 5You have mentioned very good list, Coop.
Speaker 1It was I mean, it was like I was drowning and he's just put his foot on top of my head.
Speaker 5You can't be graded everything, mate, We've been lots of other things.
Thanks keeps Jacko.
Are you staying.
Speaker 3Good?
Speaker 5Gokeep?
Speaker 3Thank you?
Coming out.
Speaker 4Number eight, I had one of the most successful players of all time, Glenn Lazarus, the.
Speaker 2Brick with eyes they called him, mate, do you say the prick with eyes?
Speaker 1He was one of the greatest winners of all time.
Speaker 5It's quite interesting all these analogies that people make, like comparing them to a brick or a block of cheese.
Speaker 1Do you know what they used to Royan has Ches used to call Joey the unmade bed.
Speaker 5Actually describes him, actually does like he's demeanor.
Speaker 4Yeah, yeah, go keeps yeah, thanks for that, just keep going off a little spiel.
Number nine never ceasars to amaze me, still still manages to amaze me.
Speaker 3Camon Smith.
Speaker 1Yeah, well yeah, let me tell you because he's floating in the background.
Speaker 3Do you hear that's?
Do you hear that?
Speaker 2Quite literally?
Speaker 5What hasn't he achieved?
Speaker 1He hasn't got two TV shows on Fox.
Speaker 5He's not only won every award, he's won them numerous times.
Speaker 4Is absolutely he has actually jeeze and number ten, number ten before you judge for the uncle Stacey Jones, yep.
Speaker 1I think close to the greatest KEYP week player of all time.
I was Humaghan Mark Raham, but mean what a player.
Speaker 6A different era I would have put Benji there.
Speaker 2Well, hang on, it's not your concept.
Speaker 1Well actually forgetting Benji's the greatest of all time.
But it's time, guys, you're going to go to the uncle.
Speaker 5Yeah, I think you've done well, creeps.
Speaker 2I'm in.
Speaker 6Yeah, I'll go in.
I hope to see my my friend the Marshall at the only.
Speaker 1Well I've I've already walked out after it.
Speaker 4He's sulking that number Number eleven, our pummy friend, Sam Burgess.
Speaker 2Yeah, I love Sammy.
Speaker 4I think, in my opinion, I didn't see a lot of the old school players, but I think he's the greatest uh pummy player I've ever.
Speaker 1Seene Yeap certainly in the argument and.
Speaker 4Number twelve our savior Peter Bland.
He's no kidding.
Speaker 5That would have been a good one.
Yeah, great, great, it's a great concert, Coop, well done, cups.
Speaker 1I enjoyed that concept right out.
People.
That's not waste any time.
He's a guy that, without a shadow of doubt, he's going to be in Mortal one day.
He has.
Trusia said, he's absolutely won everything, although he hasn't a pedal Triple and Breakfast.
He've got two shows on Fox he's never won.
But have you won a LOGI yeah, I did one about five with the footage show.
Yeah, but I mean still I was on technically there, Fatties.
That's just another kick in the guts now it might be his final game this weekend.
We don't know.
Maybe it is, maybe it isn't, but there's no doubt in the world.
Look, this is what I think.
I think he's the greatest player in the world when you have a look at the longevity of the career, and the longer your career is, the harder it is to hold dominance.
And he has done that.
So here he is spill Welcome to John's Family Podcast.
Mate.
Now, last week we had Brandon on.
We actually label him our third son.
But given your age, I don't think we'll call you a third son.
Maybe you call you creepyunkle camera that.
Speaker 3Tag Maney.
Speaker 4Thanks for having me on the Family Podcast.
I'm certainly I could almost be Cooper's Actually, you.
Speaker 1Could be my dad.
Before we get under way, I've got to apologize about Cooper's brother Jack.
He's just returned from Saturday Night after the South's eliminated, and he he sounds like he's a little husky, sounds like Deborah Harry.
Speaker 6Yeah, thanks, mate.
Speaker 5Now, I don't know if we'll get quality from him.
Speaker 1Cameron.
Look, uncle Cameron, I'm going to give you the respect and not ask, mate, whether you're going to after this week's Grand Final if it's going to be your last game.
But unless you want to break it here two links, yes, one three links.
He doesn't know.
I've got to say what what are or what were the factors which will bring you to a decision, Cameron.
Speaker 4I think it's more based on, you know, whether whether I feel that, yeah, I want to do it anymore, mate, And you've been you've been involved a first grade system before for a long time, and you know, the two boys are now.
Speaker 7Experiencing what it's like to be involved in in an NRL team.
Speaker 4And the sacrifices you make in your own personal life and the commitment it takes to play in the National Rugby League.
So for me, Maddie, it's about weighing that up.
And you know, there's no secret I'm getting on a little bit now.
I'm thirty seven, and that means my family is growing as well, and my children are starting a little bit older.
Speaker 3My eldest daughter.
Speaker 4She's twelve going on thirteen next year, and they're starting to do a lot of things in their own life, mates.
So it's more to do with, you know, whether I'm committed to making those sacrifices anymore.
It's not really about you know, how good I feel I'm playing or whether I can still.
Speaker 3Make a difference to this footy side.
Speaker 4I think it's more about, you know, whether I want to make that commitment anymore.
Speaker 7And you know it's and a lot of people have mentioned about, you.
Speaker 4Know, whether we get a good result on Sunday, and that will determine things.
But I can confirm and that on your show today, mate, that won't make a difference whether we want to lose, right, Yeah, mostly I want to go out there and we want to win, there's no doubt about that.
But that won't determine whether whether or not I play on next year.
Speaker 1And that's one of the things that's been misconstrued a lot of people saying, oh, you know, smith is weighing up whether it's capable.
Well, there's no doubt you get capable.
The sacrifices you've got to continue to make and as you said, the families get older, although four or five years, believe me, you'll try to escape.
Speaker 5If you try and get back in, I should play on that.
Speaker 1Yeah, keep going now, Smithy, this Grand Final mate, it's incredible, the record yourself and the team had in the last fifteen years.
Are you as excited going into this one to say two thousand and six?
Speaker 4Yeah, I am money because yeah, and for different reasons, mate, I six against the Broncos.
That was my first ever Grand Final in the NRL and experiencing that week and you know, it was a huge It was a huge week for myself.
Speaker 3That was the first time I sported the Delian medal as well, so it was quite a well.
Speaker 4Within seven days.
But you know, I think for different reasons this year, it's exciting for me this year.
You know, this is my eighth Grand Final that I've been fortunate enough to be a part of.
And you know, I think the most for the most part, the excitement comes from, you know, seeing guys like your young fella here have been involved in a Grand Final squad and Grand Final week, and guys of Pappenhausen and Hughes being involved in their first Grand Final and justin Olham as well, and you know, just seeing the excitement on their faces and watching them grows as.
Speaker 7Regular league players, as footballs, but as men as well.
You know.
Speaker 3Being the captain and.
Speaker 4Sort of the oldest oldest Blak in the team, it's it's just great to see guys, you know, building their own careers at such a wonderful club and continuing the.
Speaker 3Success that we've had here for such a long time.
Speaker 1Before we have a little bit of fun mate.
The dominance we touched on before the Melbourne Storm has been last fifteen years quite incredible.
And what makes it even more amazing for you camera is over the years the players you've lost, you know, the Adam Blair, been a number of guys, but Israel, Flaur, greg inglis Cooper Kronk, really Slater.
At any point, Smithy, did you go into a season thinking I don't know about this year.
I think we're going to do it tough.
Speaker 4No, I'm not really, And that's never been the mindset of our clubmate and particularly with Craig being the coach and from from the first day he turned up late in two thousand and two all the way to the point we're at now is it's never been about thinking that you or having the mindset that you just making up the numbers.
Speaker 3It's always been.
Speaker 4About being the very best you can be a training and then giving yourself good opportunity to play.
Speaker 3Well on the weekend.
If you do that, then you're going to be.
Speaker 4Competitive and you're going to be pointing end of the season when when those games matter.
So there's never been a season where I ever thought, well, it's just not going to be our year, and you know, I'm just hoping for the best, you know, like you can, you can hope for the best.
But I think what really counts, what really matters, is going out and making sure you take any sort of luck out of it.
And I think we've done that every season, you know, I've been involved in the club.
Speaker 3There's probably been a couple of years where where, you know.
Speaker 4Particularly like twenty eighteen where we lost Trooper Crunk and we had a lot of changes that year and a lot of young, young, inexperienced players in our team, and we made the Grand Final.
Speaker 7And I probably thought that year, although.
Speaker 4We didn't win the Grand Final, the Rusters were far too good on in that match.
I was actually quite satisfied with the way we played in the result that year, you know, finished second to one of the best sides we've seen in the modern game.
I thought that was a great result for our club.
But yeah, there's never been a year mate, where I've I've entered the competition and thought, well, you know, it's just it's not going to be a year and let's just hope for the best.
Speaker 1Been a strange year Smith, of course, all the COVID things pauses changes in the rules.
You like, have been living in each other's pockets all the year up on Sunny Coast there?
What have you learned about someone like Cameron Munster.
So, I mean, look, I heard I heard that.
I heard Craig gave him a month off so we could finish his hs C.
But he reckons year ten with the best ten years of his life.
Speaker 4Yeah, well, like we've we've some of our turn rounds, guys, we've you know, we get we had a couple of days off a week on the long long turn rounds, and you know, we've we've actually a few of the partners of teachers, aren't they or like kindie teachers or whatever or grade three teachers.
Speaker 7Care Munster's actually been in those classes.
Speaker 6All the children.
Speaker 5He'd disrupted jumped.
Speaker 4Yeah, he jumped in.
He jumped in with Jerome Mus's partner, Molly.
So she's she's a teacher, she's a qualified teacher, and I think she's.
Speaker 3Like secondary school tea trade.
Yeah.
Speaker 4So anyway, yeah, but she's been looking after all of the kids here are still primary school students.
Anyway, Munster jumped in with my eldness to Jaja and Jasper, and the following day, the following day he got knocked down to the kindergarten because he couldn't keep.
Speaker 3Up with minds him.
Speaker 1So, I'll tell you what, Jerome, want to be careful.
I wouldn't let muster anywhere near my wife.
Although all though Smithie one one year's off, Cooper brought him back to our place, you and your master to show massive Blue.
Speaker 5We did.
We had words, really, yes we did.
Speaker 1What was that about?
Speaker 5I don't remember really.
I think he may have said something about my singing took great events.
Speaker 3Now I'm pretty true.
Speaker 7I'm pretty sure he told you to go.
Speaker 3He told you to go to bed.
Speaker 5Did Yeah.
I was about to knock him out.
It was only his friends.
Speaker 1Don't worry.
He was going to follow in creepy Now.
This podcast, oh yeah yeah, this podcast with is very much about music film wondering why the boys spent half an hour on the toilet in the shower, mate, Let's a couple of questions so that people if you are going to say Hurrah, get a little of sense.
What Smithy, what are you more likely to go to a Jimmy Barnes concert or Coldplay concert?
Speaker 7Cold Play, I've actually I've actually been to two.
Speaker 3I went to.
Speaker 7Went to a when they come out to Australia.
Speaker 4They might have been a couple of couple of summers ago at down at.
Speaker 3Marble Stadium in packed house.
And then on the he.
Speaker 4Was on the two and sixteen for Nations Till We're in London and Coop Scooper Krong.
Actually he got a couple of tickets to like this really small performance, a little intimate performance here in the middle of town.
There's like only two thousand people there.
Speaker 3So that was cold Play.
Speaker 5They put on a good concept.
You've been to cold Player as well, Coop, haven't you?
Speaker 2And I have?
Speaker 3Yeah, we went with the Alexander's.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 5Yeah, you're not big on the map, but they do put on a very good show.
Speaker 3Who do you go?
Speaker 1I gave Jimmy Barnes.
I just think Chris Martin is like a wet piece of lettuce.
He's like that.
He's like that pair of like a pair of underpants you just throw on the corner of the room after you've been on a three day bender.
Speaker 5Yeah, maybe you should throw these.
Speaker 1I'll just burn them.
Who would have thought?
Cooper Kronk with a cold fan.
It's a right, smith you will let it that out.
What are you most likely to watch?
A romantic comedy or a horror film?
Speaker 4Romantic comedy, Mate, I can't stand horror films.
I don't know why people watch them.
Speaker 7Why do you put yourself.
Speaker 1We're talking about the two thousand and eight year.
Speaker 4Final Romantic comedy mate down right?
Speaker 1Who you're most likely to hang out with?
Wayne Bennett or Wayne Rooney?
Speaker 4Well, I'm just going to say, like, geographically, Wayne Bennett.
Who is Wayne going to be hard to get ahold of?
Speaker 3Wayne?
Speaker 1Yeah?
Wayne Rooney is a United legend.
So that's what I was going to say.
One a one a balding desperate and the other one's wayn't Rooney.
Speaker 2It's not very nice.
Speaker 6I want to I like it to text later it's okay.
Speaker 1In an altimate universe, an ultimate universe, alternate universe, Smithy, who would you like most likely play for the Broncos?
Are the Titans?
Speaker 3What's that?
What's that?
Alternate universe?
One?
Yes, it is probably there.
Speaker 1We go go to the Titans, and you wouldn't go to the Broncos.
Speaker 5I'm a supporter.
Speaker 1Yeah, ah, poor old Broncos.
They've become you know.
Speaker 3The Titans, true, I do.
Speaker 5I like them a lot.
Speaker 1Trish has got low standards.
Speaker 3What about you storm there you go?
Speaker 5You know, for my personal selfish reasons, I'd like Smithy to state the story for Cooper's benefits.
Speaker 1If we go to the Knights, all the West Tigers if you like coming ninth?
Oh, right to finish with Smithy to finish with a little i Q test.
If you stand on the scales and your wait eighty five kolos, how much do your waif if you lift one league?
Speaker 3Are think it would be the same?
Mate?
Eighty five?
Speaker 1Damn it?
That was going to be our headline.
Speaker 2Ah.
Speaker 1Actually I got the wrong camera.
I was going to ask months to that.
Mate.
Listen, Smithy, we're taking up too much of your time.
I'm looking forward to the book coming out that you've written with Andrew Webster.
Speaker 5What's it called?
Speaker 1It's called what's it called?
Jesus?
Speaker 3What's it?
Yeah?
Speaker 1What is your I think that was called advance here?
Sure, Cam, I've got to warn you.
Red Ragan carves you up on Sunday.
Speaker 7Yep, after the season, sinish, can you get yeah?
Can I chase up those details off your absolutely will.
Speaker 1I'll lend you my plugs.
Smithy, listen, good good luck for Sunday.
In my opinion, you could play for another two seasons, but you've outlined the reasons why your second guests and your says you still absolutely understand that, and the other thing on top of that, you've just got nothing left to prove.
So have a good one, pal, enjoy it.
Speaker 7Awesome, Thank you guys, appreciate it.
Speaker 5Good luck and welcome to the family.
Speaker 1Well there he goes, Cameron Smith just saunt us off into the background.
Speaker 5Can I ask you, Matt for a question, So, baby, who was the oldest and what age was it oldest player ever in the NREL because thirty seven have to be up there, right.
Speaker 1I think Cliffy Lions I think played about thirty five, maybe thirty six.
I think Smithy's got it.
Speaker 2Yeah, that's just another award.
Speaker 1Is certainly he is the oldest to play NRL in the modern era.
Yeah, and as you said before, we're just talking to me before he's got another couple of years in him, but he makes a very good point.
It's not about is he able to do it?
It's about what you're sacrificing along the way.
And there you go.
Speaker 3Mate.
Speaker 1One of thanks Smith is that he was very candid, very very honest, and Jesus worried about that.
Here though, it's just disappearing.
I hate to see his pillow every morning.
This one listener question, who's the one person in the world that that if you met, they would leave you speechless?
Trisu?
Speaker 5Do you know what I really struggled with this?
Speaker 1That's funny because you came up with a concept.
Speaker 5Yeah, I know, but do you remember who I said i'd like to meet?
Speaker 6No?
Speaker 1Do you know that's a sign to get old?
Speaker 5Yeah?
I know, but you know I think no matter who I meant, I'd usually find something to say, even if it was really ridiculous and random.
But I'm thinking at the moment, who would like to meet and I would have no words for them is Gladys Bary Jaculine and I'd just give it a hug.
Sister hood.
Speaker 1It's in this COVID period, maybe just better off touching gloves.
What about you, Jacka, are you Okay, are you're like there?
Sorry, I'm okay.
Speaker 5So I'm just stearing's just counting down the second till you can.
Speaker 6I've gone with Mick Jagger from the rolling standards between him and Peter Blandy's.
Speaker 1It was a hard split.
That's a tough split, you know.
Speaker 2I think I'd rather meet Peter Baland and Mick Jagger.
Speaker 1Okay about you, Cooper John's.
Speaker 3I had to.
I had Barry Gibb because I do so much impressions of him that I wouldn't know.
Speaker 7I didn't know whether i'd actually do the impression for him or.
Speaker 2Whether he'd heard them previously and been offended.
Speaker 3Yeah, I don't think I had.
Speaker 4It's a pretty safe bet.
I'm pretty sure he hadn't heard my impression.
Speaker 3And uh, Michael Jordan.
Speaker 6Oh yeah, maybe a couple of strange dudes to having a room together.
Speaker 3Sex.
Speaker 1What was that I could write a song about you?
Jordan?
Oh god, oh god.
I've gone Walt Disney because Walt's dead and that would amaze me.
Well, he's not.
Speaker 2Frozen, isn't it.
Speaker 5We discussed that now to day.
Speaker 1If I met Walt Disney, it wouldn't mean that he's been defrosted.
That would surprise.
Do you know that Walt Disney had wooden teeth?
Speaker 6Really?
Speaker 1Yep?
Speaker 2Where did you hear this?
Speaker 1Seriously, I'm telling you read it.
Speaker 3He was.
Speaker 1He had wooden teeth.
So even though he made great animation like Steambak, Mickey and whatnot, mate, would you give would you take all that to have wooden teeth?
Speaker 2No?
Speaker 5Why did he have wooden teeth?
Like because false teeth have been around for a long time.
Speaker 1Yeah, well, well he might have gotten dragged out and put false teeth in there, but at one point he had wooden teeth.
Speaker 2I just can't understand that.
Speaker 5What about when you're drinking?
Speaker 2I don't know, I don't have Maybe I'm going to do a little research.
Speaker 1We frost the man and asking himself.

Yeah, you know, Dave girls and the drums and yeah, who kills the drama?
Sweet?
Speaker 4Okay, hey, guys, guys leaven.
Speaker 1Seriously.
Speaker 6Number four, I've Gone without me eminem It's a great one.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, him and Doctor Dray.
Speaker 6Dressed up as Batman and Robin.
And number five, I've Gone one, probably one of the biggest ones in the last twenty years.
I've Gone, Hey by Outcast.
Speaker 1You love that one?
Speaker 5Is it good?
Speaker 2Yeah?
Speaker 6It's pretty well world renowned.
Speaker 5Okay, what about you tuish Okay, I'm going pretty fly the Offspring.
I loved that video.
When the girls were shaking their butt around the pool, I was like mesmerized, Oh okay, it was now Number two, have got simply irresistible Robert Palmer, remember he had all the women like those gorgeous faces playing.
Speaker 2Guitar behind and then.
Speaker 5Shania Twain did I feel like a woman, which was the reverse of Rob Palmer's where she had the guys behind, So I like that number four, I've got Black or White Michael Jackson, big film clip, yeah, massive, And he had.
Speaker 6Macaulay Cold he was I was about to say.
Speaker 5Macaulay And he travels around the world essentially and he incorporates his incorporates his dance into all the ethnic dances like the American, Indian, Russian, Indian Thaie.
And number five, I had Xanadu because I love Olivia Newton.
Speaker 1John Do you know that I watched a documentary the other day on Xenadu, like the actual place Senator Xena.
Speaker 5Do is there actually a place?
Speaker 1Xenadu was an old was an old ancient city that there're that you know, I mean, obviously no longer there, but yea, Xenadu was in the Human province of China.
It was actually yet and they found sort of certain remains and everything.
It was that one of the one of the first great cities of the world was end Yep, what about you?
Speaker 4I had number one, Taylor jack Johnson.
It has been still in it.
It's a it's a good laugh.
Speaker 1On the beach and it kills that chicken.
Speaker 3Yeah, it runs out of the chicken.
It's it's quite humorous.
I'd give it a watch.

I think that's my That's that and I want to Rock My two favorites of all time.
And actually that leads me to the next one.
This was my favorite as a kid.
I used to watch it all the time.
The darkness I believe in a thing called love.
Speaker 6Yes, definitely was it was Kooby used to have it on SingStar and used to watch it for the music video on SingStar because.
Speaker 1I'd heard that Tom Cruise, the role he played in What's that one where he plays the rock star?
It was it was as yeah, yeah, so I've heard that he channeled that guy from the darkness in his character and you can sort of see it.
Okay, I've gone Walk this Way, Run DMC, Aerosmith.
Here's a great interview about the other day.
You know that at first both both bands were really reluctant to do it.
But what a gave Aerosmith A gave Aero Smith sort of international acclaim.
They are a big American band, but not huge as far as international sales and things like that, and it gave run DMC sort of moving into the mainstream, although people argue after it that Run DMC it sort of ruined a bit of their credibility in the hip hop community.
So the next one I've Done All I Want is You by You two Acquiants from Oasis, and it's the second release of Acquians.
When they released for Stop the Clocks, it was it shot.
It's a Japanese cover band of Oasis.
Is a really good film clip.

It's a big favorite of mine.
Now are we doing obscure facts?
Speaker 6I got around to it.
I was googling them last night for you.
This this obscure facts.
The topic is birds and heights.
Speaker 1Is that right?
That is strange of a bird was scared of heights given the fact they fly?
Speaker 6Well, it's birds and hides.
Number one crows can hold a grudge was on a specific person.

Speaker 5And it is an all black.
Speaker 1Did you say it attacks Jerome Hughes.
Jerome attacks Jerome.
Speaker 4Oh well, if it was attacking Jerome Hughes would be doing me a favor.
Speaker 1That's right.
Battle of the Sevens, Jack a good start, Okay, Just in the bucket there.
Speaker 6Over two hundred frozen corpses of climbers and sirpers are on Mount Everest.
Speaker 1Yeah, I believe it was just we walked.
Yeah, that is.
It's sad, but you can understand why it happens.
Of course.
Speaker 6Number three, I've gone.
There are reports of vacuum toilets that are on aircraft, you know, sucking one all the time.
Yep, sweet, they suck the rectum out of people.
There's been reports of the rectum being inverted rectum.
Speaker 5Yes, yes, they're not actually taking it and flushing it down.
Speaker 6And these are.
Speaker 1Such urinus you've.
Speaker 2Got you're still sitting on the toilet and these.
Speaker 6Are very These are from a website that are very it's very secure, from the a b o t r F, the Australian Bureau of Totally Real Facts.

This was a bit close to your heart.
Cobber height jeens.
Aren't everything much more goes towards a person's height than their genes?
Speaker 5Yeah right, okay, I don't really Yeah right, I really like environmental factor is growing.
Speaker 1Really so you're saying that nutrition, I'm short nutrition.
Speaker 5The exercise you do.
Speaker 1Potentially, I was going to say something about my wife, my mum there, but I don't know if you'd appreciate it's got something to do with a breast milk.
So I'm going I'm going to go away from it now.
I just want to let people know I've got a new radio show on se n which is the old two ch we do our first.
Speaker 5Shows eleven seventy.
Speaker 1You've got it.
It's going to be every Friday.
I'm going to do on one day, week nine to twelve, every Friday.
We don't have a rolling cast, so the rotating guest is going to be Andrew John's, Andrew Webster, Greg Alexander, and Michael Checker of course for Wallaby coach and James Hooper journal at Fox League.
First show is on this Friday, and it's Andrew John's, and Andrew Webster and myself.

Speaker 5Sure?
This doesn't make people angry.
Speaker 2But I'm won't be watching State of Origin?

Speaker 5In fact, I don't even know if I'm going to watch the Grand Final.
To be honest, it's on at night, Sunday night.

Speaker 4But I don't like little little cherry tomatoes in my salad the best.
Speaker 6I agree, I definitely agree.
Speaker 5You don't like tomato in general.
That do you like tomato in general, Cooper?
Or you just don't like the cherry tomatoes.
Speaker 4I like tomatoes or my burgers.
I don't want them in my salard.
Speaker 2You don't want them in your salad.
Speaker 1This is going to make people angry.
But I think everyone should have the option to change their name immediately.
So you should have the option that you don't go through all the red tape and everything, and you should just be able to straight away just change your name.
I use it an example.
A Welsh guy who's a famous singer was born Arnold Dorsey, which is a fairly boring name.
Well, he changed it to Engelbert.
Speaker 5Legally though, ye, well just very.
Speaker 1I don't know.
I don't know, but it's cooler, which he did.
Please release me, pleasese release me, let me go.
I don't love you anymore.
Speaker 2That was seeing that to me on the weekend, there'd be a lot.
Speaker 6Of complications there copper identity theft.
Speaker 2And that's right.
Speaker 1There's some people I studied strange names.
Here's some people who and this is another reason why should people should be able to change it.
This is these people were born with this name, mister Perv, Dick Long, Paul two Cox, Willie Stroker Wade for this, McDonald berger is a German guy, McDonald berger, Dick ass Man, Yoshi take a shitter, and fat Hoe.
Speaker 5So yeah, but you're bringing them in from other languages.
Speaker 1So I want to change my name from this point on.
Speaker 5What would you like to be addressed?
Speaker 1I'm going to be called Edson thunder Snap.
That's good Edson, which was Palai's realm.
That is the coolest.
Speaker 6That is the coolest name of Elson Snap.
Speaker 1So that's from this point for you, you will refer to me as Edson Thundersnap.
Speaker 2I don't have to be missus Thundersnap, do I?
Speaker 1Yes?
You do know?
Speaker 5Don't I get a choice too?
Speaker 1Brother, You're going to be Ethel thunder Snap.
Okay, top five combined times.
It is the songs of Bruno, Mars and the King Elvis Presley, go on Trish Okay.
Speaker 5Number five, Uptown Funk, Bruno Mars, number four, A Little Less Conversation Elvis number three, Little Sister Elvis heard that in Nashville being played.
It was a great version.
Number two just the Way you Are Bruno Mars.
And number one I had Bruno Mars Locked out of Heaven.
Speaker 1Okay, Chack Johns.
Speaker 6I've gone I'm going to big Brune Mars fans and I'll just I've just chucked one in for the fact that we're doing Brune.

Always on my mind.
Great song Trush.
We watched two Member.
We watched the Ted Bundy film with Zac Efron the other day.
I always knew he was a bad guy, zach Man.
Speaker 5It is really good, interesting the insights into a serial killer and how manipulative of people and situations they can be.
They're kind of did you.
Speaker 3Guys see that on Did you guys see that on my story?
The other day?
I did a post about it.
Speaker 6No, didn't, I saw it?
How it got to you guys?
Speaker 1Yeah?
Yeah, he was.
Speaker 4I reckon, I reckon, he copied me.
I reckon, He's copyed me.
But it is outstanding.
Zac Efron does a really good seri killer.
Speaker 1He frighteningly said Bundy.
I mean, if he could have the judge when he sentenced him said, if only you could have channeled your mind in the positive, what you could have been because like he just was his own defense lawyer.
It's quite incredible.
Speaker 5He has been a little student.
Speaker 2That's why he was able to do that.
Speaker 1Best and worst surikiller films.
Speaker 5Trish okay, because I actually don't think I've watched many about from that one the other day, so my best is going to be extremely wicked, shockingly evil and vile, the Ted Bundy one and the worst.
I haven't seen this, but I just didn't look.
Speaker 2I just didn't like.
Speaker 5The way Charlie's throne looked in Monster.
She was creepy looking.
And there's something particularly evil about a female serial killer too as a woman.
Speaker 1I love Trisha.
Robin Newcastle once and end up a Newcastle.
Peoples is this old radio broadcaster and he calls the you know, all the various races.
Actually he actually used to commentate on the rugby league up there, Phil called Gary Harley and Gaz.
If he didn't know about it, he used to act like he knew about it.
So people remember once in view a person with ten Vin Balin and they'd say to you, yeah, that's right.
And I was listening to one day and he goes, we'll give us a call one three hundred think and you can win double pass to go see this new movie starring Charlie thurs On.
It's called Monster.
Let me tell you night and the bloke can act JACKA.
Speaker 6Okay, I've gone.
I've gone Best Signs of the Lambs because you know he's got two of the greatest, you know, serial killers in it.
Didn't real it's an elector in Buffalo Bill.

Speaker 1Parents are proud of you.
But Coop, what do you got?
Speaker 3Man?
Now?
Speaker 4I did I did extremely wicked, shockingly evil and vile as well.
Speaker 3I thought that's the best I've seen.
But I want to just talk to about something.
Speaker 4The worst one I've done is it's based on a true story, but what it's based on.
Speaker 3It's based off a man's.
Speaker 4Toy who turned evil and try to destroy them.
Speaker 3It's called child's play.
Speaker 5Is that Chucky?
Speaker 1It is?
It is?
Speaker 5Do you know I've never seen it.
Speaker 1I've only seen it's hilarious, It really is.
Speaker 5Is it hilarious?
Speaker 1It's hilarious.
My my number one, My best is seven film called seven Brad Kevin Spacey.
It is terrifying and special mention to Friday the thirdth part two.
And my worst is I'm with Cooper Chuckie too because it's look, it just can't help but love Chucky.
He's really cute and even when he's carrying a knife and trying to kill people, he's just going, you know, good on him, Good on that doll.
Anyway, that's all we've got time for Cooper.
You are Cooper Jack Rod have been MVP the last few days.
You are m v P today for landing your captain Cameron Smith ahead of what could be his last game.
Very good of him and a few days just out from the Grand Final.
