All right, we're gonna be talking about that Washington game.
It's really looking like a very, very big game this weekend out in Seattle.
Kenny Gerderman and I will be hopping on an airplane to head out there a little later on in the week, and I wanted to give Tony a chance to talk a little bit about that game, but I wanted to kind of blindside him with something so he doesn't really know what this shows about.
We're going to try and give him a chance to do a little bit of Washington Huskies fact or fiction, because there's a lot of interesting stuff that is kind of facts about this year's Washington team, facts about Washington's football team on the whole, a lot of stuff that sounds like that can't possibly be true, and a lot of it actually is.
So we're going to let Tony sort out the fact from fiction.
Tony, are you ready?
And let me just preface this by letting you know it doesn't matter.
We're doing the show either way, but I'm going to pretend to be interested.
Are you ready?
Speaker 2I'm ready.
I feel it's very class list to just throw a show on somebody without letting them know anything about what it's about.
I've figured you were better than this, but I figured wrong.
Speaker 1We've been working together long enough that you know that absolutely is not true.
All right, Tony, Here's fact number one?
Fact or fiction number one.
The Washington Huskies currently have the longest active home winning streak in the country, and I will let you know this is a fact.
They've won twenty two consecutive home games at Husky Stadium.
Is that the longest in the nation.
Speaker 2I don't know if it is.
I know I'm going to say it is because SEC teams play really good SEC teams, so certainly they can't have all of these home winning streaks.
I'm going to say it is, and I think with the last loss was Washington State in twenty twenty one.
Speaker 1I believe that is correct.
However, one of those SEC teams has won more games than that, the Georgia Bulldogs over thirty right now, I believe it's thirty four in their active home win streak, but second in the nation, second in the nation, twenty two games in a row in Husky Stadium.
Last year, the Huskies were undefeated at home and winless away from home.
So definitely one of those teams you want to catch on the road.
The Buckeyes are catching them out in out in Seattle when the Dogs are at home, So that's one storyline to kind of keep an eye on.
So there you go.
Oho to one for Tony.
How about this one, Tony.
Last twenty three drives for the Washington Huskies, they have had a total of one punt and turnover total between the two things, one punt and turnover could be one turnover, could be one punt, one punt and or turnover in their last twenty three drive.
Speaker 2That is fixed, Tom because their last twenty three drives have involved two kneel downs, nineteen touchdowns, and two field goals.
So they have scored on the last twenty one drives that they wanted to and kneeled down on two others.
They have not punted since I believe early in the second quarter back in August and the season opener.
Speaker 1Basically, yes, the last time they did not score on a drive that they were at least remotely trying to score on that it was not just a kneel down was a demand Williams fumble in the second quarter against Colorado State.
But yes, they have scored on nineteen touchdowns, two field goals, two kneel downs in their last twenty three drives.
All right, so there you go.
You have redeemed yourself a little bit.
Now here's one that I put these out of order in my notes, Tony.
So we're going to go back to now the twenty two game home win streak for Washington through or falls fact or fiction.
That is longer than any home win streak that Ohio State has had during the twenty first century.
Speaker 2Okay, during the twenty first century.
So we know it wouldn't be.
There weren't enough games in two and three, and certainly they didn't last long in four, five, six, seven, then they had eight.
There was a loss there.
I'm going to say that is not longer than than the Ohio State's longest in the twenty first century.
Speaker 1So you're gonna say Ohio State has a longer home win streak than twenty two.
Well, Tony, you are correct, but just barely.
The Buckeyes won twenty three straight home games between a twenty seventeen lost to Oklahoma and a twenty twenty one loss to Oregon.
So twenty three straight home games unless I miscounted.
I had to do all this by hand.
So it's possible that I miscounted and we're both wrong.
But you know, one of the odds that were wrong about something.
I mean, history indicates no more than I don't know, eighty percent likelihood that we're both wrong about something.
All right, Tony.
The last time the Washington Huskies beat Ohio State was out in Seattle, and that happened on the same day as an iconic college football play.
Factor fiction.
That iconic college football play was the fifth down between Colorado and Missouri.
Speaker 2I know this was in the nineties, and if it was, if it was ninety four, then I would say it was the Cordell Stewart throw.
But I I was in my dorm for that.
The fifth down was a year later.
Was that ninety five or ninety six.
I'm and I'm going to say that it was the the Cordell Stewart ninety four, but I feel like they played in ninety one, not ninety time time?
Am I right?
Am I correct?
In the ninety four thing?
Speaker 1Disappointingly, you are correct.
It was the Cordell Stewart throw up in the Big House, the Keith Jackson, the legendary call Cordell Stewart to Michael Westbrook.
Yes, that was the same day, September tenth, nineteen ninety four, the fifth Down game.
That was in nineteen ninety so that was well done, very impressive.
How about this one, Tony.
The Washington Huskies have never beaten an AP number one football team.
They have played them fifteen times, and I will tell you they have won tie in those fifteen games.
Have they ever beaten an AP number one team?
Because, of course, the Buckeye's entering this weekend's game at number one.
Speaker 2Tom, I'm just going back through my ROLLODECKX and what I remember they have beaten a number one team.
I believe thinking back, it was Minnesota and maybe like nineteen sixty or sixty one, Is that correct?
Tom?
Speaker 1It was yes, this was I believe a stat that they may have shown on the broadcast, So I'm giving it.
Sometimes I feel like I got to give you a free beat.
Here's your bonus, Tony, who was the nineteen sixty one Rose Bowl.
The nineteen sixty one Rose Bowl is also known for a legendary prank that happened during the game.
Do you know what the legendary prank was that happened during Washington's win over the only AP number one team it has ever beaten, Minnesota in the nineteen sixty one rows.
Speaker 2I don't, but does this involve cal Tech doing something with math and turning some lights out or something, you know, anything like that.
Speaker 1It does involve cal Tech.
This was the cal Tech card prank where they told Washington fans their thing was going to say go Huskies, and then they held up cards and it said cal Tech.
So yes, I'm going to have to I'm regrettably grudgingly going to have to award you at least partial credit for nailing the cal Tech portion of it.
So yes, there, you're well done.
All right?
Two more demand Williams, Washington's quarterback, had fewer incompletions than he did twenty yard runs against Washington State last weekend, So fewer incomplete passes than twenty yard runs.
Speaker 2Well, I won't bring up the box score because I have it on one of my forty seven open tabs here.
Speaker 1I really give you extra credit for not cheating.
Well, thank you, all right, thank you.
So that's a happy individual you are.
Speaker 2I seem to recall a few interceptions, but I also recall a few couple of twenty yard runs in there.
I'm going to say, no, he had more incompletions than he did twenty yard rounds because I only remember maybe three max on the twenty yard rounds and he had to have more than that incompletions.
Speaker 1Well, this is I'm going to give you partial credit on this one because he did not have more incompletions than twenty yard runs.
He did, however, have the same number of incompletions as twenty yard runs, three of each.
So there you go, entrapment.
Yeah, the look of annoyance in your face is all the thanks I need.
All right, last one, Tony.
And I know that there are people, I'm sure there are people who have watched a minute and a half of this video and put well they haven't ain't played nobody, Paul, So here we go true or false Washington's opponents this year.
They have played three teams this season.
Washington opponents have not beaten an FBS team yet this season.
We know they're a one to three against Washington, but Washington's three opponents combined have yet to beat an FBS team.
Speaker 2For false, I'm gonna say false in hope that Colorado State did recently well.
Speaker 1Colorado State did not.
Colorado State has one win and that it was against FCS Northern Colorado by whopping twenty one to seventeen score.
However, the Washington State Cougars did beat San Diego State.
They beat Idaho thirteen to ten, and they beat San Diego State thirty six thirteen or of that win over San Diego State the only win by a Washington opponent against an FBS team yet this year.
UC Davis did win two other games, but it was against Utah Tech and Southern Utah, so non Utah Utes state champions.
There the UC Davis Aggies.
Speaker 2And you know that fifty nine to ten lost from Washington State to North Texas looks a little bit better now after this past weekend with North Texas I think looked pretty decent and Washington State looked pretty decent for three quarters, which we'll talk about some other time, not today.
But I can't wait to watch this game because I think there's a ton of interesting matchups and just eighty percent of it is what are you going to do about Debond Williams.
Speaker 1Yeah, this is going to be a really, really fun game because I feel like we're going to learn a lot about both of these teams.
We'll have a State having to go cross country and play in what is going to be a very loud environment, and Washington having to play by far and away the best team they've played this season and see how they hold up against there, because they have put up some impressive stats.
They've put up some very very shiny numbers and point totals.
Haven't really played anyone of any real consequence yet.
Obviously you can throw the records out for the rivalry game against Wazoo, we know that, but other than that has not been a They have not really played a talent equated kind of game yet.
They certainly will this weekend when the Buckeyees come to town.
Tony and I will be out there in Seattle covering that, we'll have a bunch of coverage of some other stuff out there as well.
Should be a really fun trip place we have not gone at least together to go cover a game before so and certainly supposed to be one of the most iconic venues in college football, so looking forward to that as well.
We'll have our usually usual mishmash of behind the scenes videos and letting you see some different things you probably wouldn't get a chance to see, and the spot where a lot of Ohio State fans have never gone before, we'll try and give you give you a look at what it's really like out in the University of Washington and Seattle and inside Husky Stadium.
