Eighty nine yards and a touchdown, and he's joining us right now live on the Kwai Common Spirit Health Hotline.
Troy, thank you so much for the time, man, really great performance.
Wrong with Dave Logan, Ryan Edwards and Rick Lewis.
Speaker 2How are you, man?
Speaker 3What's up, guys, I'm pretty good.
Thanks for having us.
Speaker 2Yeah, I appreciate your time, Troy.
Speaker 4So, I think a lot of people, and myself included watching practice all the time in training camp, just thought you looked like you were more comfortable, more settled in.
I mean, you are off to a great, great start.
Just I mean from your perspective, what couple of things seem sort of different for you this year in terms of your approach and how camp and now the start of the season have gone.
Speaker 3Yeah, definitely.
So I think it all just starts with Goe just having a second year in the offense, you know, second year just being in the building on the team, you know, just being familiar with everything, you know, comfortability, And then I think another thing was just you know my off season that I had, you know, just putting on some extra strength, you know, some extra pounds, some extra weight, all that good stuff.
And then you know, just craft in my game and just you know, I'm trying to make sure all that stuff is you know, where I needed to be.
So yeah, I think that those were the main things.
And then you know, just taking advantage of my opportunities and stuff.
And then you know, just kind of just you know, kind of the self talking to myself, giving I tell myself that I can do it, you know, and just being confident.
So I think those were kind of the main things.
Speaker 5Hey Troce Rick Lewis, congrats on a great start.
My question for you is was there like an aha moment or a light bulb moment for you when things just all of a sudden clicked And do you remember that or remember when something like that happened.
Speaker 3Yeah, I think I think it was just you know, me just trying to be really consistent in camp, just making sure I knew my spots, knew my splits, where I'm supposed to be, how the routes were supposed to be ran, just being in my being in the right spot for the quarterback.
And then you know, just when I was consistently making up making plays and doing that.
I think it's just you know, kind of just the underlying like just feeling of like, all right, yeah, I got it now.
You know, I'm being consistent and just got to you know, just kind of just keep stacking the days and doing it like that.
So I think that's what kind of got me knowing that, like, you know, I'm on the right track.
Speaker 2Troy Franklin joining us.
Speaker 1How much did going to going up against this defense during training camp help you?
Now?
Speaker 3Helped me a lot, you know, getting reps against pat Riley h j MC those guys, you know, and in our safeties.
You know, these guys been doing it a long time, you know, very good defense, won the best in the league.
So it's just only making me better.
And all the receivers we've got just making this better, you know.
So it's great to go against those guys.
Speaker 4I'm gonna ask you one last question is as you guys get set for the Chargers, you know, I think I think since Jim Harbaugh has gotten there, they they've sort of changed their personality.
Speaker 2A little bit.
A lot of a lot of big people have been acquired.
Speaker 4The NFL has a bunch of big people, but they have they have even big people on top of big people.
But when you look at that defense of the Chargers one that tries to keep everything sort of in front of them.
They play a lot of palms coverage.
They they don't want to give up the big play.
What what couple of things strike you most about the the LA Chargers defense.
Speaker 3Man, Like you said, they're really disciplined team, kind of like a ben don't break defense.
And we just got to get that run game going.
You know, they're going to you know, keep a too high shal or whatever the case is.
You know, we're gonna have to, you know, make sure that run game is getting right and then just get them out of that shih shale and then you know we work from there or whatever the case is.
Speaker 2You know.
Speaker 3So most definitely that's what I'm kind of seeing right now.
Speaker 2You said you.
Speaker 5Gained some weight in the off season.
I'm thinking about bulking up this winter.
What was your secret?
Speaker 2How did you do it?
If you really want to know?
Speaker 3It was?
It was exactually just really being consistent on eating every day.
So I really tried to make sure I have you know, my three meals morning, the breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and then you know, snacks in between, and then also on my own time, I would really go my my my main meal.
Two double doubles from in and out.
You know, that's that's that's what I would do, and that kind of you know, it could help me put a little put a little wad on.
Speaker 2Two double doubles from internet.
Speaker 4Rick, you'll be dead in six months of diet though.
Speaker 2I like that.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 1I guarantee about ninety percent of the listening audiences like I could do that.
Speaker 2I could, I could, I could bolt up like Troy Franklin.
Speaker 3Yeah, for sure, definitely hope it works.
Man.
Speaker 2I got one more for you here.
Speaker 1I just wanted to ask you about bon Nix and what you have sort of seen here in his second year.
You guys obviously sort of seeing you picking up from where you left off in college in this season.
What have you seen from bone Nix and his growth into your two.
Speaker 3Man, just really taking in all the coaching he needs to take in being confident, being a confident guy out there, and then just making sure everybody knows their job, you know, being communicative out there.
He's communicating a lot.
I'm just making sure everybody's comfortable, you know, taking command like a quarterback is supposed to.
So he's definitely doing everything he needs to do for that year two leap or whatever.
Speaker 1And is that I mean it's something you probably saw in college, right, I mean, he's is he much different than he was then as he is now.
Speaker 3I wouldn't say he's too much different, you know.
I would to say he's a little more.
He's definitely a little more vocal and stuff, you know.
And I would say, like the biggest thing is that, you know, he's just definitely you know, he's talking more, he's commanding offense.
You know, he's really just running offense.
Speaker 2Man.
Speaker 1So yes, sir, Troy really appreciates the time.
Best of luck on Sunday.
Thank you so much, Man, keep it up, Troy
Speaker 3Appreciate you off Man Will got to thank you guys,
