Speaker 2The underage drinking story underage a lot of trouble at boarding school.

Speaker 2My champ this week is rugby League, NURL Football NRL Finals.
I defy anyone to confidently tell me who is going to win the premiership this year.
I think, at least at the top end of the competition table, the salary cap has been a great leveler and outside of the New Zealand Warriors and look, it's going to be obviously hard for the teams in the bottom half of the finals.
But I can't confidently say Penrith can't win or the Roosters can't win, that's how good they are.
I'm not so sure about Cranala and any of the top four, particularly the Broncos.
The form therein and the lead up to the finals, I just reckon they've set the stage for the most exciting month of football we have seen for a long long time.
Speaker 1Do you agree?
Yeah?
It should be good looking forward to it.
Speaker 2You sound really pumped, Andrew, Hey.
Speaker 1Yeah, bump for it.
Go rugby league would be good.
Look.
My champion is Carlos Alcarez.
He's won the US Open Men's singles final, reclaiming his world number one, wrecking from Yannick Sinner third time they've met in a Grand Slam final in a row.
Yanick Sinner one at Wimbledon.
They're the new Federer and Nadal of tennis.
I'm not saying that another player won't emerge, as Dokovich did obviously when those two were were slugging it out, but it's some some sort of rivalry that they're forming.
Al Karez said after eOne, I see more of you than I see my family to Yannick Sinners.
So you know, there was always this fear that when the big three retired, who was going to come through in tennis circles.
Speaker 2And I think it's worried about that wherever, you know, even the Australian Open here.
I don't think it's as much watch as must watch.
Speaker 1As it is to be.
Speaker 2But you're right, particularly this guy Sinner.
You know a lot of publicity around him last year, wasn't there with the drug issue.
Speaker 1And who yeah gone good?
Who's your chumpers?
Speaker 2My chumps?
The Newcastle Knights?
Speaker 1How bad are they both look good?
Speaker 2But I reckon they gave up on the coach, Adam O'Brien and even long before he announced he was standing down, I think they've been absolutely pathetic.
I've even called and agree with Andrew Voss they should have scraped mad Monday.
They don't deserve an end of season celebration.
The club put on through his security guards and a bus to get him there and back.
Speaker 1Mate.
Speaker 2They were disgraceful the other day sixty six ten against a team that ran fourteenth.
And I think the football players got to have a long hard look at themselves in Newcastle.
Yes, they had injuries.
Other clubs had worse though boot off the field remember this year and O'Brien, you know how to crack at the fans, mate, They're an absolute sham and unlike other teams who are not playing finals.
You can see the West Tigers are going upwards.
You can see Paramatta, even the Titans the other day that you know they sent fires and Dars off nice new Casts have.
Speaker 1Got nothing made terrible terrible and you.
Speaker 2Know you know as well, that is such a proud rugby league city.
Speaker 1It is.
Speaker 2Yeah, and I don't like saying that the players gave up.
Speaker 1Yeah, it's well they clearly didn't get in behind the coach today in his last game for the club.
But it's such a proud, proud area, proud Rugby League area.
I talked to the old boys or some of the old boys regularly, and there's some that I talked to without giving them up, who just can't even talk about it.
They just they're too upset with our things of goone.
Speaker 2There boys stay a couple of weeks ago would be they regularly win that game.
But if they don't win it, they played tough.
Speaker 1I thought it was a real issue in Gag Guy's three hundredth game and it just got absolutely lapped, and like in a milestone like that, you'd expect better.
Anyway, my chump.
The NFL season is underway, but there was drama from the very first scrimmage in the very first game between Dallas and Philadelphia, when Jalen Carter, defensive player for the Philadelphia Eagles, spat on the chest of Dak Prescott, the Cowboys quarterback.
NFL is still deciding on the punishment, but it was an incredible long It was an incredible it was incredible way to start the season.
Speaker 2Wherebe I watched it on TV, it was over the weekend.
Was it a Sunday?
Saw it on Monday morning?
Wherever I saw it, and I thought that's the most disgusting act.
And why take seventy two hours to mate?
Just kick him out for ten weeks.
You can't spit on an opponent like that.
That wasn't even in the contest, was it?
They would just standing.
Speaker 1It was the first scrimmage and what happened was Dak Prescott's spat at the ground in front of jal and Carter, and Carter responded, but I don't think you can spin on someone.
It was right in front of the ref.
He threw the flag and send him.
Yeah, so yeah, you get you're out, not seeing bing off, No, you're off.
But then the play down the man, that's not that sort of game.
But you can't take any part in the rest of the game.
I'd be surprised if he doesn't get a few weeks.
What would happen in the NRL you get I don't know.
If it happened in the na you probably get ten, wouldn't you?
Would you get ten?
I think I couldn't make it up.
You know what, they'd probably backslip on the decision anyway.
Anyway, let's get into you heard how long.
Speaker 2Have we've been going?
Have a long at your clark.
I have a little crack at my friends at the NRL, my buddies.
I'm sure the right thing we're going to talk about, Nick.
So the thing is that's the right thing that he's playing.
Speaker 1Okay, you heard it here first, Yes, yeah, it is, Yeah, Nico, very happy for you.
Well done, Andrew Abdaux, Peter VELANDI is really good work.
You've knowled again hand yourself for Delli and you probably will.
You heard it here first, Latrell Mitchell, what's going on with him?
Speaker 2Buzz Well, he's out of the Kangaroo Toll where me and I'll tell you.
He's out of his favorite game too, the Coury Knockout.
It's on tam Worth in three weeks and he's told he's team he can't play.
And you know he's wounded when he's not playing Corey Knockout.
You know what it mainstream?
This neck injury's got.
He's been told not to do anything contact wise for four to six weeks, all right.
And where this is a big story made is that it's.
Speaker 1Sometimes his HEMI no, it's his neck right, yeah?
Is that another one he's had.
Speaker 2It must have been some sort of nerve in that area where he just cannot do contact So where it's a massive blow for Kevin Walters is that he does not have an origin center to take away on tour.
In that Stephen Krich and he's playing for Samoa.
The Hammer is injured at his mc L playing for the Dolphins.
Speaker 1The other day.
Speaker 2Robert Toyer is playing for Tonga the Roosters, and Val Holmes has had surgery on that leg injury.
She's unavailable.
So I presume they're going to have to bring back Tom Turbar who won the Harry sono La Medal last year and even though he's been down on form for much of this year.
I don't think they've got much choice.
And I presume they'll also take a Tony Staggs.
Speaker 1They're not bad options.
Speaker 2Yeah, but wherebe to go to England for a tough kangaroo tour against the revitalized England with not one origin.
I I think not having Latrelle there is a massive bla.
Speaker 1Before they picked the team, they picked the assistant coaches at all they have?
Right?
Who are they?
Speaker 2Gorden tell Us and Willie Peters, which.
Speaker 1Is really definitely gone because Willie Peters has accepted the role.
Yeah, and the last time I expoke to Brace who manages him, as he said he had even had a discussion about it, but has been appointed already.
Speaker 2Yeah, he's been appointed and look I think he's a good appointment and that he knows the form of the English players better than anyone.
He runs into change with his own side.
So who'll obviously do that job for camp?
Yeah, but Latrell Mitchell out of the Kangaroo tour.
Speaker 1That's a big blow.
Speaker 2You'll heard it you first, unless you what was that line?
Speaker 1You?
Speaker 2Unless he did, Unless it doesn't happen, Unless it doesn't happen unless you've heard it.
Speaker 1I think it's going to be a really tough campaign for Australia, I really do.
What are you going to do?
Speaker 2Sound like you're going to have a little bet I've just back to not back against your country.
Speaker 1Yes you can, you can't?
You can you can.
There's no you're proud Australia, of course I am.
There's no sentiments in sports, Betty.
It's an emotional hedge.
I've had this four point thirty three.
England are to win the series?
Is that right?
It's a tough series for him.
England start series traditionally very well.
First game at Wembley, second game at Everton, what about a leads?
Speaker 2But what about their two centers?
You've got farms Worth one side and you've got a J.
Brimps on the other side.
You got Victor Radley.
You know they've got some decent players.
Speaker 1That's what I mean.
And I think I think Australia has taken so long to you know, I think Heavy's got a big job ahead of him.
He does.
Anyway, Okay, news of the week?
Which one?
What do you want to talk about first?
Buzz?
Speaker 2Well, you're hosting Andrew.
Where would you.
Speaker 1Like to go?
Speaker 2Oh?
Speaker 1Why don't we talk about Nick being clear to play in the match against the Way?
What do you think of this?
I don't think it should have been a Grade two to start with, but I'm not comfortable with them changing it on the advice of injury reports from other clubs.
Speaker 2They say that the Match Review Committee were when they were determining what grading this hip drop was, that they took into account the initial medical diagnosis that it was serious sindosmosis and that Montoya wouldn't play again this year.
So on at midday when he was charged, Cronulla ran Cannabin said, look, we're preparing a judiciary case.
We're going to fight it.
Can we get your medical report?
Speaker 1Andy?
Speaker 2He did a scan Montoya did and it came back that it wasn't sindusmosis and minus spray and I spoke to cabin Suroardo today and he thought there was a chance he might even play against Melbourne this week.
So Coronala had until midday to put in their presh evidence that the with the NRL.
They provide that evidence.
Andrew abdout talking to the Match Review Committee and under those circumstances they downgraded the charge for one, He's free to play.
I do agree with people out there who are saying why couldn't have gone to the judiciary like it normally does, and then that evidence presented to the judiciary.
Whether they or just did they need to have a case, I don't know.
But look, look I think whatever way it's been handled, I think we've got the appropriate result.
You don't sound convinced.
Speaker 1I'm don't want to say anything because I don't want to upset you know anything I says an attack on Well, they.
Speaker 2Are amazed, but look a criticizement.
I need to criticize.
Speaker 1Them, will you?
Speaker 2Well, yeah, yeah, absolutely, I will sure.
How did you want a mood today?
Speaker 1No?
No, no, no, no, no, we're talking about the big issues in rugby league.
No.
Speaker 2I I think I do know though, you know what that I will attack the n r L when I need to, and I haven't been.
Speaker 1Let's not get into it.
Let's not get into it.
I think it's I think it's ridiculous.
I think they've got to the right the right result.
They should never have given him a grade one a grade two in the first place.
But god, it opens up a whole Pandora's box, maybe for any suspensions, any any It's like it just feels like they make it up as they go along.
They really don't tell you the optics of it, the optics of it, and buzz, you've told me what you think.
The optics of it are terrible.
And if I think it looks like it's been heavy handed from Abdou or Valandi, I'm trying to talk.
Yeah, but I'll come back.
You tell me what you think.
Speaker 2No, well, I've just explained I don't think it was heavy hand.
I think fresh evidence was put forward and made the decision on their own.
And you're just telling me that that Abdo went to them.
No sent the medical report to Abdou who passed it on to the Match Review Committee.
Now as the Match Review Committee of the people I don't have confidence in for stuffing up the charge.
Originally they got it wrong giving him a grade to the Match Rebute Committee fucked up two weeks ago as well when they didn't start charge Stephen crighton for trying to rip the head off Ry.
Speaker 1And Abdo and Valani's reacted to that to your story.
So reacted to your story.
So they just react.
Used to bag Greenberg and Gallop and all that for being so reactive.
Nothing there were nothing, and make it up as they go along.
Isn't that Our job is commentary.
It's not about you, Buzz.
I'm having to go up there for reacting to your story.
Speaker 2But I'm calling out the fact that the Match Reviewed Committee and you give me the ships now, the Match Reviewed Committee got both of them wrong, and we should be applauding the NRL for stepping in and fixing.
Speaker 1You know, they should do get better equip people to be in the.
Speaker 2I agree, we finally agree.
I totally agree that competent.
Speaker 1They should have imported them in the in the first point place right there, I think, I am.
Speaker 2Can we calm down?
You're starting to really give me the ships?
I know you're tired, right, We've got.
Speaker 1It all at all.
Come on, I'm in a great mon what's the next one?
My highlight of my week is sitting here and arguing with you.
I fucking love it.
Okay, Oh, Shark Stadium they're talking about not using it.
I haven't talked about that story.
I haven't talked about that story in the last ten to fifteen Well in the last shark Stadium will context you?
Like, what's the name of the body to say that?
What are you saying?
I've just read youhashed another story?
Are you?
Speaker 2Have you been to the ground lately be seeing what a ship he produced?
Speaker 1I don't have to.
I've been seeing the.
Speaker 2Fact they've got thirty eight thousand members these two clubs combiners I.
Speaker 1I have been saying for ten years it's a disgrace that they use this field for finals.
I've been saying it for ten years, and what you get is shipped from Cronulla supporters saying, oh where's your home grand advantage?
Speaker 2What the NRL I've got to do is scrap all Sydney suburban home grounds as venues for finals.
I don't care if they've finished higher on the ladder and they deserve a home ground advantage.
That has got to stop.
We have a situation with thirty eight thousand members this week and twelve thousand of them get in the punter who just wants to go to a game of football this weekend cannot see one.
It is the one game in Sydney.
We have one in Canberra, one in Melbourne.
Where's the other game in New Zealand?
Yes, and it is an embarrassment to Rugby League that this one venue with Portoloo Park, as the headline called it, it's it's terrible.
Speaker 1You know what, I agree with you.
I think they shouldn't play there.
You know the thing that I don't get buzz.
They've got a big you know they've got I know it's a it's it's a home ground, a home ground for the Roosters.
But they've got an eight hundred and fifty million dollar facility which you and I were enjoying last Friday night at the football when we're not.
Speaker 2Yes, it's the guest of the trust.
You're in a better mood then I'm in a good mood.
I might send you to the dolphin.
Speaker 1No no, no, no, no no no no no no, I'm in a good mood.
You just don't like it when I when I critical, you don't like it.
Speaker 2Happy, But I don't like the fact you said it's a fifteen year old story I published in the column on Monday.
It was the press story and that the ground is now unusable.
Speaker 1What did I write the other day my column?
Oh that's right, you don't read it.
No, y're good.
But it's just got to change the change?
Are they will?
They?
So they're going to have no suburban grounds?
No?
Right, So.
Speaker 2It's got to be the way.
You can't say the CRINALI.
You can't play there and let manly play.
Speaker 1It Brooki, No, no, I.
Speaker 2Agree, and you can't let you know.
You use combat, you use a corps or use alience.
You don't use allience this week because it's through its own ground.
Speaker 1You go to a cor Yeah, I'm with you.
Good idea great leadership in our worl webdit you've done it again.
Speaking of great leadership, bulldogs, ye surround your great mate feel good and Cameron surroundo the coach until twenty thirty one.
Speaker 2Yes, well it's a long appointment, didn't it.
Speaker 1They're trying Do you think about that?
How long it is?
Oh?
Speaker 2I don't know why they had to go that long.
To be honest, it is.
I pointed out before that most clubs win comps when Gus goes, and that ain't bagging him.
Speaker 1No, It's true.
Speaker 2Gus is a set up specialist.
Speaker 1He's a set up kind of guy.
Speaker 2He is he's he's at and I just don't know why it needs six years good money.
Look, but look what Adam Drewissy and what Aaron Warburton are trying to do.
He's turned that club into a Melbourne storm and of Penrith Panthers sustained long term success and obviously they're feel the job is nowhere near done.
And while they're in calculations this year, they're still in a process and there's a long way to go.
And wow, I don't know how they are soft cap works?
Well, what's Gus on a mill plus?
Speaker 1Probably?
I don't know how do they get around it?
How do you get around the soft cap?
You pay, You pay people through different ways, don't you.
I'm not saying that's the case with Canaby.
We don't want to allegend, we're not we don't want to get sued.
We're not alleging that at all.
We're not alleging any wrongdoing from Feel Good or the Cannby Bulldogs.
More details as they come to hand.
I think what they've done is incredible though.
Really, yeah they have you know.
Speaker 2But you know what is still out on on Galvin and Red Barney.
Yeah, I agree, the jury is still out there.
But and Crichton's going to sign for this length of time too.
So they got their captain, their coach and the general manager football locked in until two thousand and thirty one, and they look like they're in a position to do what Penrith and Melbourne and to a lesser extent, the Rusism done, just a regular power force top four club.
Speaker 1When I wrote that big big piece on Gus earlier in the year, I sort of got into this about it helps he spends.
He's a good spender, Gus.
Oh yes, yeah, yeah, so he just wants the best football department he wants.
He's gone after the best juniors in women and men's.
You know, he's been really active in that in that way, and you know that, but that's where that's where the Launders have yeah, helped him enormously.
Yeah, But the privately.
Speaker 2Owned clubs you'll find, run a much tighter ship and they watch their coin.
Canterbury have that massive Canterbury Leagues club and they just at the end of the year, year, whatever they need, they just write a check or these days they transfer the funds.
So Gus has got an unlimited budget and he's had to invest all that money in pathways because they are in total neglect for a long period of time.
Speaker 1You know, I think it's of Cannarbury Leagues.
They must, must, must they spend on that big fountain at the front.
Yes, big water Bill, Big water Bill.
Okay, let's get into your war stories.
Speaker 2You in this mood.
I prefer you in this mood.
What do you mean just when you're nicer anyway, when you're not questioning saying I'm running an agenda against your mates.
I didn't suggest you're running an agenda.
Speaker 1It seems like it.
No I didn't, Yes you did, No I didn't.
Hey, someone's got to keep these blokes to account.
Buzz, because no one else is in the rugby league media as it sounds like it.
Tell us about at the olden days.
I don't tell us when you were a young buzzer to get a twelve year old quicker.
Speaker 2Start off, I used to be a border at Trendy Grammar School right nineteen seventy three.
I was probably sixteen fifteen years ago.
Speaker 1I just thought of you as a real private school sort of.
Speaker 2I don't publicize this a lot, but anyway to get out of the school grounds on weekends.
Speaker 1On the son of a brickie, yes, by the way, yep, good cap.
Speaker 2Going to get out of boarding school on weekends, We're to provide a leave slip and we had to say where we were going.
We had an arty and uncle or parents.
We had to write what time we were leaving.
They had to sign our leave slips to say we got there, what time and so we were not or anything.
So we all I put down an ARTI in pimball and you know, signed it forwards the signature my mates did.
And we went to the grand final.
We found a pub that was prepared to serve I think it was the more part view you know that pub down yeah, you know, in wall Park, and we got dreadfully pissed sixteen They served you yes, well we're old looking sixteen?
Speaker 1You are okay, don't you know you would have looked old, an old man.
I've seen you.
Did you have the big blonde?
And then did you?
Yes?
I had the effort.
Speaker 2And when we got when we got into the cricket ground, when we got into the cricket ground, well we're getting people to get us our drinks.
We got back to school at about eight o'clock that night.
I'm pretty sure it was Canterbury East, Grand Fine, Canterbury Town.
But anyway, we got sprung as we came back into the school.
The head master came to six times over the backside.
All right, but the worst punishment was you know, you can get expelled and kicked out of school.
They did the opposite to us.
They gated us.
We weren't allowed to leave the school.
Speaker 1What does that mean for those of us who went to a public school.
Speaker 2Well, you're not laid out of the school grounds for months.
It's gated, gated, you're locked in, locked in, So we couldn't go anywhere on our weekends.
Speaker 1It was like being in prison.
That was our punishment.
The other what was the grand final was that I think.
Speaker 2It was Canterbury and South or Canterbury.
Ease, I've just said a memory, fa look it up?
Do you want to quickly look it up?
Speaker 1What year was it?
Can you look at that?
Seventy three Grand Finals?
Seventy three was Cronulla It was the blood Bats.
Mainly when was it?
Seventy four?
Mainly was Roosters?
Was Roosters, Russ Canterbury, RSUs Canterbury.
Speaker 2It was yeah, Rusus Canterbury.
Seventy four Beatson was the clearly and seventy five the following.
Speaker 1Year Roosters Dragons the little Grahame England's white boots.
Speaker 2So I'll tell you a story about that one.
I slept outside the ground the night before.
Now there were no tickets in those days, right, There's no such thing as ticket tech, no internet, no mobile phones.
So I reckon every year about a thousand people used to take a sleeping bag and just sleep out the front.
Me my mates did it.
And what I did it got your good seat.
You'd walk in with your fifty cent coin, whatever it costs the ticket, you'd just charge in and get your seat.
And yeah, I'm not sure if I drap that year I was seventeen.
Speaker 1Then who was your team?
You're a Dragons guy, won't you.
I grew up.
Speaker 2I was never a fanatical Dragons fan, but Johnny Raper was my hero and I wore his number eight jerseys.
It was back then and sped forward around score all the time.
Speaker 1I loved Raper.
Speaker 2Yeah, so there you go.
That was my first experience of Grand Finals.
Speaker 1I was too young to see Raper.
But in all the books I've done and all the old footage, I've gone back and looked at it, and there's two players that stand out.
Raper and Kasna.
Yes, they're the two on the field.
Even that sixty three Grand Final.
He just like Gasney.
We was just skimming along the top of the of the marden.
Speaker 2Raper was in area well and they had four mortals, you know, Lagans out the back and Smith, Billy Smith I think was a seventy five.
Speaker 1And half back.
It was a sensational to you.
I've never got so drunk as a journalist than when I interviewed Billy Smith at the carrying the Carrying Barnfore then I went down on the train and interviewed him at the and it was for Inside Sports magazine.
This is a long time ago.
And we whipped through the interview and he goes, Son, we're gonna have a drink now or what.
Anyway, they had to pull me onto the train.
He completely destroyed me.
And when he had the stroke a few years later I called him.
I said, there you go, and there you go and Bill and he goes this.
This stroke slowed me up.
Some Where is the pub?
Speaker 2He's in nursing home now, Miranda.
I saw him about two years ago.
Yeah, Johnny Raper was in the same nursing home the two of them before this.
Speaker 1Is this the one in garyl Waas Center is.
Yeah, that's where.
That's where Jack Gibson was.
That's I went saw Jack there right towards the end of his life.
Speaker 2Also changed to mate his nursing home.
Are you still the scrumpy ever?
He was a real grump.
Speaker 1Chang was he?
Is?
He grumpy as you like?
Speaker 2Captain Brunk.
You've given us some good content for this podcast.
Speaker 1Is we'll go up.
Speaker 2Today just giving it to each other, hopefully finals.
Speaker 1Hate getting drunk, underage drinking webs Webster slams in a real before human shield Rossie or jumps in here.
I'm sorry, we we're up to nearly half an hour?
Is that all right?
Yeah?
You got to be somewhere else to.
Speaker 2No, I don't.
I've done my other podcast today.
I've got a day and a half off now and I'm going to the weather's picked up in Sydney and I'm just going to go and enjoy myself.
But I need to do a fearless forecast.
Speaker 1So I'm thinking we could go through the games all right?
Yeah, well, good idea Storm Dogs Amy Park Melbourne as we can Weds seem yeah stuff at one Storm Bulldogs two sixty three.
Speaker 2I think the Storm with Pizzette at half back and Harry Grant back a much needed surgery to their spine.
I love with Sharp, but I think he's a bench player.
Pizette's got the good kicking game.
He'll combine and take pressure off Munster and I expect Storm to win.
Speaker 1Good analysis.
I've got Melbourne as well, day four h five.
Excuse me, I just a little burp from my green juice into the into the micropha.
It's because I'm such a health fanatic.
You just have me to come on.
I'm trying to be funny and trying to be lighthearted.
Say I'm too grumpy at the start.
Now I'm trying to be light harder to say.
Speaker 2Hurry up, Jesus, keep going.
Speaker 1What's the next game?
New Zealand Warriors Penrith.
Speaker 2We know what Penrith went over there after the Origin game in Perth, remember without their five Origin players and still beat them.
Speaker 1Yep.
Speaker 2Since then the Warriors without Barnett and they're without metcarp and I don't give them any hope whatsoever.
Speaker 1What's the betting?
Three seventy two Warriors Penrith a dollar twenty eight at go Media Stadium.
Yeah, I think that's a good bet.
Penrith a dollar twenty eight.
Speaker 2Yes, yes, I don't think they have any trouble whatsoever.
Speaker 1Theyre put my house deposit on me.
Well there you go.
Why don't we double it?
Were in a double it, you'll get a third of it back.
You'll make a third on top of it.
Sharks Roosters, your beloved Sharky is at Sharks Stadium, at the old Relic that is Shark Stadium.
Sharks two dollars and two and the rust is a favorites at a dollar eighty two.
Speaker 2Look if this was ever a dollar ninety five, take your pick game.
I think this is Dad said here, I don't know where be I wouldn't be surprised after eighty minutes they go into extra time.
That's how close it'll be.
Coronala, I think have got a better rotation and middle forwards.
And you saw that against Canademy.
That's roll on twenty minutes, roll another twenty minutes, roll another one on.
Whereas the rooster is a bit more brilliant.
And my fear is Akronla fan is that Sam Walker?
Sam Walker kicking game Markie Mark or Daniel Tupu.
They're both brilliantly ye incredible, and Teddy's just going gangbusters.
I can see.
Look, I can't say Pard and Webby, I honestly can't.
I'll tip a draw and okay, I'll say Carnalo an extra time because of the home ground and.
Speaker 1It's your team.
Yes, the russ are I don't know.
The Russes are a team that you know, if anyone's ever going to win it from outside the four, this could be the year with them, do you reckon?
Speaker 2Yeah?
Speaker 1I love this comp so much.
Speaker 2At the bottom two you know five to eight can win it?
Speaker 1How exciting?
Uh?
Cambra canbra Broncos in the last game Canberra a dollar sixty nine Bronchils.
Speaker 2This builds into a fascinating story on Adam Reynolds Webby because he's not fit to play this week, so they'll go with Ben Hunt.
Right now, under Hunt since Reynold Scott hurt, the Broncos are averaging thirty eight points a game and have won four from four.
And I think Rhys Walsh has come of you know, it's found his best season with Hunt and Billy walders there.
I'm wondering though, if the Broncos played their Grand Final last week against Melbourne, they were up for that like nothing else.
Well that's what I felt.
That's and I think Campbell get him, I really do.
But I'm looking forward to the Ricky on the sideline.
I know he doesn't like Madge and Madge doesn't like Ricky and astance each other.
I don't think Madge is split from Canberra.
When he took on the Origin job, I don't think it was smooth.
Speaker 1No, of course it wasn't.
Well, it all got played out publicly before they Camber knew about it.
Yes, and as you know, as we have the great man Ricky Steuart here a few weeks ago, he's as loyal as the day is long.
Speaker 2Yes, so that's just a little interesting side story and a subplot.
Speaker 1Yes, subplot.
As they say, what do you think about that one?
I backed the Broncos at thirteen dollars to win the comp a while ago.
Yeah, this is before the injuries to ma'am and Reynolds and Cobbo.
I loved what I saw from last week against Melbourne.
I'm not convinced it's just, you know, a flash in the pan.
I think they really needed to cement their their position in the four that said camera down there on a Saturday night's pretty tough.
I find this a toss of the coin.
I really do, I really do.
I really.
I'm going to go on the record and say I want Camera to win the camp.
It would hurt me betting wise, because I backed Melbourne at the start of the year and I backed Brisbane a few weeks ago.
But I just think it would be an incredible story for the game.
Would be But I just think they could Brisbane concerned me if I'm a Cambra fan.
Speaker 2It's so many good angles to Canbra and that they are.
Speaker 1They're not the underdogs.
Speaker 2They're the underdogs, and they lost Jack whiteon and they couldn't sign a big name, No superstar would go there.
Even big day for Feeda knocked him back.
Remember Ricky wanted for Feeder.
Yeah, no one wanted to go there.
So he came back flipped and then he brought in all half of the New South I was under nine, and he got a couple of beauties with strange and weeks and foggedy stairs and they're a fantastic rugby league story.
Speaker 1Yea.
Speaker 2From Las Vegas to Darwin to New Zealand with no buyers to Brisbane.
That schedule I had at the beginning of the season was as tough as it gets.
Speaker 1And yeah, what do you think about him?
Not about it being the Saturday game not the Sunday game.
Speaker 2I think it's fair because you can't give Canberra a seven day turnaround and Canberra five days, So this way they get an eight day and a sixth day, and I think as Canberra minor premiers, they're entitled to, you know, get some sort of will not give the Broncos a two day advantage.
Well, so you don't think it's fair, Yeah, I think it's fair that Camberra got their way and they got an extra day to recover.
Speaker 1Yeah, right, okay, so no worries.
You finished off a lot more pleasant.
Hey, I was fine.
Speaker 2From a g up got ugly?
Speaker 1What do you mean ugly?
Anyway, that's life and sorry.
Speaker 2We're not here to agree, We're here to debate.
Speaker 1No, no, no, good god, are you off to have lunch with Peter and Andrew?
Now was the way it works?
Speaker 2I respect them, I respect both of them, but I have had many, many collisions with them.
Speaker 1I have, I seriously have.
Yeah.
Speaker 2Anyway, I wrote a column during the week and ab during the year, and abdo had to come on three six and made it scathing.
I've said some things they've stuffed up and how Las Vegas seemed such a long long time but made I've loved the footage this year wherebe I really have Yeah, and look, and I can understand there are a lot of people out there agree with you that what's happening at the judiciary and with players is a break from the way that they do things.
But I sometimes I don't necessarily see it as a bad thing, but I do think they've got to get rid of the match review and get people in there that can probably make some sharper decisions.
Speaker 1The game's going good.
Yeah.
I like to think the players in the clubs had something to do with it, but well, that's true.
