And 64 josh.com/elgato.
Now today's episode, we're going to be talking about the news.
Of course, we got a number of headlines to cover.
We're just going to kind of, you know, breeze through those quickly as we can.
And then we're going to be hanging out on the Animal Crossing 3 Point O preview event where Nintendo invited different media and content creators to basically it was a non hands on previews.
So I think it was all virtual from what I'm what I'm gathering, basically just jump into a zoom call with, with Nintendo and they showcased a number of things.
And so we're going to jump into, we're going to jump into all that and, and answer a few questions.
And I am, I am hearing a bit of disappointment from the Animal Crossing community based on a, on a couple of things.
So we'll we'll jump into all of it.
I want to say what's up stake is here Nadine Nadine right off the bat says I wish Animal Crossing would spark my interest again, but with all the announcements and stuff this game is just in the rear view.
I think a new game is the way to reel me in again, for sure.
No, no doubt.
I'm I think what's going to happen for me.
I was thinking about this today, if pending scheduling, I'm thinking Tuesdays, maybe like Animal Crossing day where I invite people in and we do what we do those slumber islands.
And so I don't know if I'll do like, I'm not quite sure how all the, how all the details of that will work out and how to get how to get people in, But I, I want to do something fun.
I, I think there's some, some opportunity there.
So we'll, we'll get into that further.
But let's talk the news here.
First up, this one is out of out of nowhere and it's going to be quick.
Mario Tennis Aces updated diversion 3 point 1.1.
Are you guys ready?
Hold on, hold on several issues have been addressed to improve the gameplay experience.
Boom, that's it.
No switch to update, nothing like that.
Just some issues have been addressed to improve gameplay experience.
And I I mean, come on, do we really see them giving this a switch to version and then and then releasing fever two months from now?
No way, no way, which is which is kind of a bummer.
I I even if they got the free upgrade like similar to odyssey, I think that would be a good thing for for all the sports titles.
I don't think it necessarily means that you're not going to not going to sell the new game.
In my mind, it would just make going back to these like old ones better for all of us that are, you know, that, that have these in our library.
So there's the big update.
You know, make sure to turn on aces and download now Hyrule Warriors age of imprisonment.
This is from My Nintendo News version 1.0.
Point 3 releases on the 18th of December.
It is going to include Phantom Mode.
Phantom Mode is a new feature that randomly occurs in battles that have already been cleared.
In battles where Phantom Mode occurs, some of the enemies will appear.
That appear will change into dangerous species or miasma enemies, and there is a chance that Phantom Gannon will appear when a strong enemy is defeated.
Compared to normal battles, you can obtain more high purity zonanium steel.
That's kind of cool.
Difficulty level Taboo In the new difficulty level Taboo, you can experience high difficulty battles that are even more tense than very hard.
By clearing a certain number of battles in Taboo, you'll receive special rewards such as high purity zonanium and steel and increase carry limit for special food.
So that's pretty cool as well.
Adding new challenges following the first free update, the 2nd update will also add multiple Battle Challenges and the Hyrule Challenges to the Hyrule map.
After clearing the main story, Zaltos and Future will appear as new dangerous species.
Additionally, the Training Hall on Sky Island will be unlocked, allowing players to activate Sync Strikes by entering the Training Hall with two other players.
New Unique Skills added New unique skills will be added to the Mysterious Gollum for the One Handed Sword, 2 Handed Sword, and Spear.
The One Handed Sword unique skill Shield Charge allows you to step forward with your shield, ready to ward off dangerous attacks and charging enemies.
Additionally, by timing this skill with an enemy attack, you can unleash a powerful spinning slash.
You can learn it by completing the Battle Challenge and the High Real Challenge that will be added in this update.
New weapons added The Forbidden Sword A1 handed sword, whose blade has been tainted by miasma and transformed into a sinister blade has been added.
It can be equipped by mysterious golems and warriors of all races.
You can obtain it by clearing the battles added in this update.
In addition to the above, the following new battles will be added.
Battles focused on warriors.
A deadly battle with a certain formidable enemy.
And then there's going to be some functionality improvements as well as some bug fixes.
So there you go.
Cool to see a little bit of a little bit of love heading towards heading towards Highway Warriors Age of Imprisonment.
Factorio Nintendo Switch 2 page reveals December launch and Space Age DLC for $35 The factorial, the game in which you build and maintain factories, finally has a Nintendo Switch 2 release date.
The official page for this game has been updated and Factoria will be arriving on the platform Monday, December 22nd.
That's not all.
The Space Age downloadable content has been announced for the Nintendo Switch 2 and is set to cost $35.
The file size for Factoria on Nintendo Switch 2 is 2.5 gigs.
Factoria is a game in which you build and maintain factories.
You'll be mining resources, researching technologies, building infrastructure, automating production, and fighting enemies.
In the beginning, you will find yourself topping trees, mining ores, and crafting mechanical arms and transport belts by hand.
But in short time you can become an industrial powerhouse with huge solar fields, oil refining and cracking, manufacture and deployment of construction and logistic robots.
All of your resources, all your resource needs, and all of your resource needs.
However, this heavy exploitation of the planet's resources does not sit nicely with the locals, so you will have to be prepared to defend yourself on and your machine empire.
This is what's kind of cool this I so I've actually played this game on on steam and you join forces with other players and cooperative multiplayer, create huge factories, collaborate and delegate tasks between you and your friends.
While core gameplay is in the form of the free play scenario, there are a range of interesting challenges in the form of scenarios.
If you don't find any maps or scenarios that you enjoy, you can create your own with the in game map editor.
Place down entities, enemies and terrain in any way you like.
So what's interesting about this game is this game takes me back to a Super Nintendo game that I used to play that was called Utopia.
And it it was honestly, it was very much just like this.
You would you had to build a city and you had to defend it against aliens like UFOs that would come in and it was it was a lot of fun, like not a Josh game what whatsoever, but it pulled me in.
I liked it.
I liked it quite a bit and so factorial feels like a it feels like it took a lot of inspiration from that.
I could be mistaken, but even down to like the art style and everything very much feels like feels like a a continuation of utopia, which was which was great on on this Ness.
So stick says Zonanium is the same part of the table of elements as Ben Ben Ben danium, but but Ben Benanium, yes, benanium, that is correct.
I love it getting getting new elements from Nintendo this year.
It's so, it's so cool.
But yeah, the factorial guys, I'm, I'm going to look into it.
I I'm going to, I'm going to check it out and, and it is fun playing with friends.
It's one of those games that getting to build everything out with, with friends is a lot of fun.
Another article from My Nintendo News Japan Nintendo Switch 2 is finally now in stock at many retail stores.
So the Nintendo Switch 2 has proven to be a lucrative product in the land of the rising sun.
With availability being scarce and near impossible to get without a pre-order using a lottery system.
Now it has emerged that Nintendo Switch 2 stock is widely available at many retailers in Japan.
Yankee reports that demand for the system remains high with some people having to having to queue to obtain one.
It seems Nintendo has managed to produce more systems and hopefully this will continue into the Christmas shopping season.
Keep in mind the Switch 2 in Japan is significantly less than it is here in the States and they are region locked.
So I, I do think that is that is a factor.
At the same time the system definitely selling well everywhere and we'll see how it goes for you know into it into next year.
I think that's going to really be the true test of the system is how it continues selling into 2026.
The we, we've got your early adopters, your hardcore, if you will, your Christmas and now what's it going to look like?
What's it going to look like after that?
That's what I'm that's what I'm very, very curious about.
But off to a very, very strong start, which is which is good, good for us.
So, moving on over to Nintendo Life.
Nitrome Classics range announced for Switch.
First game arrives in early 2026, so this is not something I'm super familiar with.
Nitrome, the talented British indie developer currently crafting mouse work for the Switch to, has this week announced a new series.
Nitrome Classic revives a range of titles from Nitrome's past and is lovingly porting them to the Nintendo Switch and other platforms with various with various enhancements and updates.
More platform releases could also potentially follow a little blurb from them.
It says all of the games are not just meticulously restored, but improved with higher frame rates, full screen aspect ratios, higher quality music.
And many of the games will be packaged as many collections within a franchise, including additional content not found in the original releases.
So the first game in the series is Twin Shot Deluxe, a title that began life on web browsers.
It will be released in early 2026.
Silly Sausage and Skywire will follow this game and there's a bit more details about those games from Steam and then moving, moving on down.
So it looks like like there's one of these games and I'm not quite sure which.
I think it's I think I think it's twin shot.
Twin shot kind of it's giving me Powerfall vibes.
OK, so it says we cannot just leave the game lagging in the past at 20 frames per second.
It now has been upgraded to an angelic 60 frames per second.
Now with modern 16.9 ratio that's 78% more twin shot.
We have a brand new intro animatic and ending illustrations remastered to pixel art perfection.
So pretty, pretty cool to see to see some of the like they're not games I have any like any nostalgia for I don't know anything about, but I I I know that's not going to be the case for everybody.
So it says the the the final thing here says apart from the upcoming switch to release mouse work, which utilizes joy con 2 mouse controls, nitrum is the same team that has previously worked on games such as Shovel Knight dig and bomb chicken.
So there you go.
Both, both both fantastic games, Super, super funny, honestly, moving on here and I want to say what's up to cryptic.
Welcome on in Nate's been talking about this one in the chat saying dispatch coming to Nintendo switch 1 and Nintendo switch 2 with free upgrade is cool beloved superhero comedy dispatch is seemingly flying on to switch to next year.
This is from My Nintendo from Nintendo Life, and what it says here is that fresh off a couple of nominations at The Game Awards, it looks like Ad Hoc Studios superhero workplace comedy Dispatch will be flying on to Switch and Switch to early next year.
The surprise listing has popped up on the Australian E shop.
Thanks to Vux for the heads up displaying the game and a free Switch to upgrade planned for the 29th of January.
Hey, the good news for those who missed out this year, Dispatch is a new comedy from the writers of Tales of the Borderlands and The Wolf Among Us, which are both fantastic.
It sees you step into the shoes of Robert Robertson, superhero alias Mecca Man, who's forced to take a job in a superhero dispatch center after his mech suit is destroyed in battle.
This is great.
This, this sounds great.
So all this is supported by a stacked voice cast featuring the likes of Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul, The Batman's Jeffrey Wright, Cyberpunk 2077's Alana Pierce, critical roles Matt Mercer, Laura Bailey, and Travis Willingham and many, many more.
I think that's what I think.
I think I've seen Alana post about this on Instagram and XI think that's where I've seen most of the, the coverage from this game.
And so sounds like a pretty funny, sounds like a pretty funny premise, honestly.
And so we'll see, we'll see.
I'll, I'll definitely dig into more and check out, check out some of the trailers in the in the near future here.
But looks, looks like good stuff.
I know stealth put out a tweet about it.
Johnny shared that tweet in, in, in our discord and it was it, you know, it, it people are people seem to be pretty excited about it.
So it's good stuff.
Batman Arkham Knight for the Switch receives another switch to backwards compatibility update improvements for performance, visuals and more.
Batman Arkham Knight wasn't in the best state when it landed on the original Switch in 2023, but the switch to has given it second life.
Now, following a backwards compatibility update in November which addressed some progression issues, another patch has been rolled out and this includes stability improvements as well as performance and visual improvements in handheld mode.
An added bonus, the stability of the game on Switch has also been upgraded.
And here are some of the details of Batman Arkham Knight Nintendo Switch 2 update for the 16th of December.
Additional stability and improvements for Arkham Knight on Nintendo Switch.
Additional stability improvements when playing Arkham Knight on Nintendo Switch 2 through backwards compatibility.
Additional performance and visual improvements when playing the game undocked on Nintendo Switch 2 through backwards compatibility, it says.
In case you missed it, Nintendo also released compatibility fixes for multiple other games last week losing, including Resident Evil 4 and Metopia.
You can also check the compatibility on Switch to titles on the Switch to the Nintendo's compatibility page.
So looks like Batman Arkham Knight and the rest of the entries in the series are also currently on sale in locations such as the UK and Australia.
Each title will set you back about like 8-8 dollars instead of the normal 19 and in the US you can get the trilogy for 20 instead of 60.
These are fantastic games if you have not.
If you haven't played these, I highly recommend them.
I own all of them actually in two places right now.
In two places.
So that's why like that's why I haven't picked them up on the switch.
But I, I do plan on getting them at, at some point.
So last, last thing here, we're going to move on over into our main topic, which is, which is the Animal Crossing preview.
So let's do it.
Well, we are over at Polygon right now because they were one of the ones invited to this preview event which was all about the Animal Crossing 30 update happening in January.
And so let's let's dive in.
It says Captain still sits at the end of the dock, waiting to whisk players away on a boat tour.
But now his family members populate the hotel lobby.
His wife, Lalani, is the proprietor of the hotel, and she and she's who players will talk to when they are when they want to decorate a new hotel room, 10 of which seem to be able to exist at a time.
Unlike Happy Home, Paradise players aren't designing hotel rooms with a specific guest in mind.
Rather, they can now pick from a long list of themes like Kitty Ranch or Dreamy to steer their artistic vision.
If you build it, they will come.
We saw a quick demonstration of building a room with the simple theme, which is basically identical to the process and Happy Home.
Paradise Decorating works here just as it does there, except without room size, editing tools and alongside a player's full catalog, the hotel can supply extra furniture fitting the theme under the recommended section.
In the lobby, players will find 2 mannequins which can be used to set a style for visitors.
There are some aspects of the hotel system, like how villagers are attracted to it in the first place there are somewhat unclear, but once villagers have arrived, they can be found wandering around players islands freely.
We ran into Zelle as a tourist during the preview, and he was clad in that very same sweater I'd seen in the lobby.
Unfortunately, unlike campsite visitors, these tourists can't be invited by the player to their island permanently.
So that, that that's, that's kind of bumming people out a little bit.
So, you know, the, the main, the main things that I've been hearing the, the most important things the the slumber islands, people are super, super, super excited about them.
They're still great, but you're only going to be able to use items or, I'm sorry, designs that the host has in their catalog.
So I think there was a lot of people hoping that like each island would get its own set of custom designs and that everybody could bring their custom designs over.
It's not happening.
And I mean, I, I, I wasn't, not something I was like super, super worried about.
And, and, and thinking would be the case because there, there has to be some, some limitations right now.
Maybe they can, maybe they can make some changes and some updates to this in the future, Especially because one of the things they did at these events is they did AQ and A, and they had people ask a lot of, a lot of questions about.
And most of the questions or a lot of the questions were what are we, are we getting more design slots?
Or can we use different design slots on different islands?
And, and they in some cases didn't, didn't answer at all.
So that, that from the different videos that I've watched about people that have from people that have been there, they in, in some cases they didn't, they didn't even ask about or didn't answer the question when it came to design slots.
So, so who knows, I don't know what the limitations are.
Maybe it's a switch like there's there's probably very few limitations on switch to if they added switch more design spots on switch 2 and not switch 1.
I don't know how people would feel about that.
I understand that like, hey, you get the upgrade, you get these, you get more design slots, but I don't know the reason behind it.
Is it is it a switch?
Is it a switch 1 memory thing?
Is that what's is that what's going on there?
And if that's the case, could it could it happen on switch 2?
But then how would the community feel about that having those locked behind the Switch 2 version, which I mean, you know, you can't play the Kirby DLC on Switch one, only on Switch 2.
So, so it's there.
So the other thing that everybody was kind of wondering about is like in in your friends who are helping you do your slumber island.
Can they show up whenever they want and just start working?
And the answer is no, the host has to be has to be live.
So unlike, you know, I think I think a lot of people were kind of hoping it would be like Minecraft where you can like set up a server, that server is always running.
People can come and go as they please.
Not going to be the case with this, You know, outside of that, I don't feel like there was a ton of new information.
They just kind of they just kind of showed first hand a lot of the a lot of the stuff that they showed in the in the direct, there was just a few more questions that were that were basically answered and, and and and that was it Like there wasn't there wasn't a whole lot coming out of this coming out of this event that we didn't that we didn't already know.
And in some cases even kind of assumed.
They did say that they you know, they got to see a preview of like firing up the NES for the Famicom on the in game, still playing a game in game.
But even that, like it's just the one game that's tied to it looks like ice climbers is tied to the NES.
The cuckoo land, I think is tied to the Famicom.
And so there wasn't wasn't, wasn't a whole lot more there.
They did say they jumped into the the different crossovers a little bit more from the Legend of Zelda, Splatoon and Lego.
And according to Polygon here, since the most impressive of the three was arguably the Lego set, which easily filled out the entire basement level compared to two side rooms featuring the other themes with everything from lounging surfaces to an arcade cabinet.
It's unclear how playable it will be, but likely not the same level as the as as the NES, as we talked about just a little bit ago.
So still, super cool stuff.
I'm so pumped about this.
So, so pumped about this.
Cryptic's asking a good question.
So how is the hemisphere going to be in Dreamworld?
Are we just building things or having two switches?
Are having two switches online even does that even work anymore?
I don't think that were like if you have two switches with the same that share the same Animal Crossing account, that does not work if that's if that's what you're asking.
So yeah, I, I assume you're going to be able to pick the hemisphere when you do the slumber island, but I don't know exactly if you know what the what what the story is there.
So lastly, all three sets were exciting, though this is, you know, from Polygon here it says the presentation briefly showed off a few of the interactive items that are included, including the squid punching bag and the decayed guardian that lights up and moves a bit when touched.
The Splatoon and Zelda sets require certain IP related Amiibo to unlock, but the Lego set will be available through Nook shopping app.
So get the get the Amiibo ready if you want those Splatoon items and the Legend of Zelda ones so that that that's going to that's going to have some people picking up picking up some some Splatoon Amiibo.
No, no doubt.
If you want to be able to get those sets so as well as as well as Zelda, at least they're a little more readily available.
I would run out and get some stuff now.
It seems like a lot of stuff is is is discounted compared to what it was a couple months ago.
So if you're if you're in the market or needing some, needing some Amiibo to get these items in Animal Crossing, that's the that's one of the ways to go.
So that is let's let's see we got one more comment here.
Cryptic says I'm excited for this update.
I don't know if I'll spend a full year playing it, but at least the first few months checking out the new items.
Yeah, I think what for me, these items represent the ability to create the island I've always wanted, which is very Nintendo themed.
And and so that that makes it super fun for me.
I've never completed my house in this game.
I've never I've never there's been some things that I just haven't haven't completed yet.
So it's yeah, I'm excited to jump back in.
We got a super chat from Steak said as as your as you're a Christmas person is Die Hard a Christmas movie?
Fun fact, during my lunch break I have been watching Die Hard because it is one of the Christmas movies that I need to get through every year and and so very much Die Hard as a Christmas movie to me.
I will share a very fun fun fact about Die Hard if you ever watched it on television when it had to be edited.
Two of my favorite lines from from that movie.
When he says Yippee Ki yay, the edited television version said Yippie Kaye Monkey Fighter or Yippie Kaye Mellon Farmer, Both both fantastic, both fantastic ways to go there.
So yeah, little little fun fact, every time I watch that movie, I cannot help but think about the way TV edited those in.
So Native Nae said I spent my 5 bucks on Mega Man Eleven.
No more 5 bucks for AC.
There it is, there it is.
Well, I appreciate you guys so much.
Thank you for tuning in.
We'll be back tonight for our NSO Game of the week, Streets of Rage 2, which I'm really looking forward to chatting with you guys.
It'll be a good time.
So, as always, play it loud.
