Episode Transcript
[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome the pair of bones.
[UNKNOWN]: You're home.
[UNKNOWN]: Dr.
Mason West.
[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome in Bear's fans in this episode of Bear Bones.
[SPEAKER_00]: As always, I am Dr.
Mason West.
[SPEAKER_00]: So today, it's going to be a kind of a short recap of what happened at Camp today.
[SPEAKER_00]: I got to be there alive the only time I wanted to go alive the season because it's so hard one to just get tickets.
[SPEAKER_00]: But also too, because it can't really go during the week.
[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, you're limited to weekends.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's not that many weekend days.
[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, it was a really good time.
[SPEAKER_00]: And she got to go with my mom, who's fun.
[SPEAKER_00]: She was the first her first time at training camp.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so that was pretty cool.
[SPEAKER_00]: And ran into friend of the podcast, Nicholas Moriano, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: I got my start doing this whole thing with Nick and Will DeWit over at Chicago audible.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I was super fun to catch up with him, chat about what we saw over watching practice.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was a good time.
[SPEAKER_00]: Overall, you know, definitely an interesting practice.
[SPEAKER_00]: So [SPEAKER_00]: a couple of notes just to take it right off the top here.
[SPEAKER_00]: And if you're listening live and having questions about anything specific, feel free to throw that in.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'll try to answer the best I can of like I said, it'll be a kind of short one.
[SPEAKER_00]: Just give you guys an idea of what I saw while I was there.
[SPEAKER_00]: So Georgia Jackson was back at camp at practice today, but if it was a bit brief.
[SPEAKER_00]: So he actually left you glimpse back to the building a little early.
[SPEAKER_00]: So you got sucked out after a bit of time.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's had in Jordan, Mary.
[SPEAKER_00]: Made a couple of fun cool plays and some one of ones really, really early, but he actually left practice early as well.
[SPEAKER_00]: Bryant base got first team reps at right guard with with Joe Jackson out.
[SPEAKER_00]: Also, who was it?
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, Miles Boykin went down with a bit of an injury.
[SPEAKER_00]: He ended up in a little, little, came up a little limpie at one point in practice as well.
[SPEAKER_00]: So a little funky there.
[SPEAKER_00]: But basically we're just going to go through some of the other things that I saw over all.
[SPEAKER_00]: There was some really cool one on one place, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: They had a couple of sessions of Red Zone, which was great to see.
[SPEAKER_00]: That was probably the most exciting portion of practice, because I was also right up in front of us who had happened to be in the end one view.
[SPEAKER_00]: Some really good battles in there.
[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, Jill and Jonathan still out.
[SPEAKER_00]: So you got to see Tyre Stevenson to Sean Reich, Howard Gordon, just to name a few.
[SPEAKER_00]: Probably the highlight of the day was actually at one on one between Kyler Gordon and [SPEAKER_00]: And what would do in Zay?
[SPEAKER_00]: So Gordon had some really great press coverage.
[SPEAKER_00]: Jan, I'm at the line, either freshly all man, what's this rep going to look like.
[SPEAKER_00]: Rome's able to get into the end one, create a little bit of space, ball was thrown high pointed by Rome came down in bounds even though, uh, Gordon tried pushing him out and touchdown score.
[SPEAKER_00]: So that was probably the highlight of the day.
[SPEAKER_00]: At least in terms of just like a play that was just cool to see the battle that was going on there.
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, it was a [SPEAKER_00]: Overall, the temple was interesting, you know, the bears have family best tomorrow.
[SPEAKER_00]: So you could tell, you know, there's a couple of run plays, but nothing's super substantial.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then the run game that was there, one of the few that plays that were called, I mean, John Gray Swift got absolutely blown up.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I believe that was my color garden in a love vinyl ovens.
[SPEAKER_00]: So many that was different this year that also that I noticed was [SPEAKER_00]: There was a lot more team periods.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they were broken up.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's probably three, I believe it was three separate team periods that went on, eleven on eleven wise, but more than in previous training camps for the bears that I've been to, so that was fun.
[SPEAKER_00]: Throughout the entire time, like I said, it wasn't not a lot of run, run game and [SPEAKER_00]: There was, I don't know, up and down offense for the offense.
[SPEAKER_00]: So first he muffins had some some rough periods near the end of practice when they started near midfield sweat had a sack followed by a play that should have been a sack by Josh Blackwell.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, there's a lot of pressure right now from Dennis Allen.
[SPEAKER_00]: Actually, there's a play in the third.
[SPEAKER_00]: left on a level where I mean they brought the house, Japan, Brisbane, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo, Kim [SPEAKER_00]: That's kind of the good in the bag when it comes to Dennis Allen defense.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, there is also on that note a lot of flags that were thrown in the one on one actually in that red one period.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's some handsiness from [SPEAKER_00]: multiple DBs, but that's what just been sound wants, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: He wants press-borneers.
[SPEAKER_00]: He wants individuals that are going to get up and allow, hopefully, the past rush to get there.
[SPEAKER_00]: And as we know, there's the past rush as a little questionable, but also he's going to bring pressure.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a very different, it's essentially the same defense as what your group was was running, but it couldn't also be more different, because your group was much more sit back, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: You rush for [SPEAKER_00]: and you know, don't allow explosive plays, you're allowing the chunks.
[SPEAKER_00]: The idea here is that you're not trying to allow anything, but you know, you're potentially going to allow something over the top like you did in the scenario with the cool commit touchdown.
[SPEAKER_00]: Darrell Wright had kind of a rough practice, which is good because Montessweck got the better of him a couple of times.
[SPEAKER_00]: There are some false starts as well.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, the good and the bad.
[SPEAKER_00]: You want to see more of Darrell Wright.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's going into year three.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're hoping that he makes a bit of a jump.
[SPEAKER_00]: You kind of give him the benefit down a little bit the last couple of years, you know, year one is a rookie.
[SPEAKER_00]: You looked for year two to be a bigger [SPEAKER_00]: a bigger jump than there was, but at the same time, I mean, he's playing next to a rotating cast of characters last year, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, the Nate Davis saga, I mean, Ted and James was getting hard over at left guard.
[SPEAKER_00]: Prior was supposed to be guard, then there was some left tackle injuries now, prior to playing left tackle at times.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so that's hard to be a good to dominant right tackle when that's happening.
[SPEAKER_00]: But now, you know, at some point, [SPEAKER_00]: that you should do, do have to end.
[SPEAKER_00]: Even today, obviously, you know, Joe and Jackson did leave.
[SPEAKER_00]: So that's tough, you're Ryan Bates out there.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so that does matter, but you still gotta win your one on once.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now you pay Montez to, you know, you're hoping for a big year from Montez.
[SPEAKER_00]: He had a bit of a down year last year after [SPEAKER_00]: coming on to the scene.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, there's that stat right he lent the commanders and the bears at one point in the same season with sacks.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's not saying much because both teams really didn't get put a lot of pressure in that year, but last year he was battling injuries a lot.
[SPEAKER_00]: So you're hoping to see that chips.
[SPEAKER_00]: One of the bigger pieces of news at least in my opinion, Chrono McGoggi didn't practice at all for the leg injury.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now that being said, you potentially would expect there to be a relative to even split at tackle, but I mean, I'll see your pillow as far as I saw it took every single snap of the ones.
[SPEAKER_00]: That.
[SPEAKER_00]: It may mean nothing, you know, maybe for tomorrow for family fest, Braxon Jones comes out and plays every single snap of the ones, but it didn't seem like that was the case.
[SPEAKER_00]: If anything, it was more Braxon Jones and Theo Benedict was the ones rotating now, almost in that two, three spot for the bears, and it was Aussie spot today.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I didn't necessarily see anything to worry some more of the pressure came.
[SPEAKER_00]: from if anything, unfortunately, the darn I'll write side.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, no pun intended there.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I mean, Aussie was definitely holding his own.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's just I'm also a massive individual, so it's crazy.
[SPEAKER_00]: If there was some of the highlights of the day, it would probably be a little bit of Luther burden.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, he had a fun couple catches, but really, in my opinion, it was the Colson Lopez show.
[SPEAKER_00]: He opened, for example, the third, Levin on a Levin session after a couple of [SPEAKER_00]: other great place.
[SPEAKER_00]: But he opened the third, eleven, eleven session with the score, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: And he was scoring on linebackers, corners.
[SPEAKER_00]: He was high pointing the ball.
[SPEAKER_00]: He was catching it, you know, and protecting against his body and traffic.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's just doing a little bit of everything.
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's just, it's really exciting.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's, you're not trying to create hyperbole or anything, but, you know, it's the, [SPEAKER_00]: Greg Olson again kind of thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's the last time that I at least I felt bives anything like this when I came to the tight end position.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you go back to [SPEAKER_00]: The Adam Sheking era, where I mean, yeah, there was a player too where you're kind of excited about what you saw.
[SPEAKER_00]: But as a whole, I mean, it just was always awkward with Adam Sheking.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was always about potential more than anything.
[SPEAKER_00]: You didn't truly, truly, at least not consistently every one play, every training camp.
[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, if you always, also felt weird.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you can always tell like, you know, my roles at physical therapist, there's an arc in a race to how you fall and how you have your contacts in Adam Sheking.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was just, [SPEAKER_00]: a car without any shock absorbers.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's one of the reasons why he just kept getting hurt.
[SPEAKER_00]: Plus his weight.
[SPEAKER_00]: at the addition and all that, you know, the Chipotle method, as I remember him saying was not the most natural.
[SPEAKER_00]: So Cole's in Lovelins just looks the part, he plays the part, you know, like I said, he's able to do it again, climb back, or he's going to see if he's going to corners.
[SPEAKER_00]: He did, he had all the field today, different kinds of catches as well.
[SPEAKER_00]: Very natural, catcher too, if you could kind of tell him, so him has to fight it.
[SPEAKER_00]: So that was, that was really exciting.
[SPEAKER_00]: When it comes to Caleb, I mean, that's one of the biggest things what was Caleb doing.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, there were some rough parts, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: There was a couple times where he probably should, he could have gotten the ball out faster.
[SPEAKER_00]: And even if it was, even if it was throw away, even if it was, you know, it's some tighter coverage.
[SPEAKER_00]: And there was also some time for the offensive line to not do any favors, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: Where he is now rolling out, you know, one in particular, remember he pressure immediately off his right side.
[SPEAKER_00]: He is in there.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's in there.
[SPEAKER_00]: He spins out to the left.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then he's being chased down as the heave up all up.
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's overthrown over D.
J.
Morris head.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he was, you know, perceived it as a little bit of a position that could have been a reception.
[SPEAKER_00]: So you have a play like that.
[SPEAKER_00]: There was a fumble in there, you know, just a not a great stamp, but then also like you could, you know, not the best handle ball either.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then the next play, he rolls out to the right ips of ball to Roman Dune Day for a touchdown, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: Just kind of that where we saw last year, he's able to, you know, kind of split jump in a little bit of a sidearm to it.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, it was a, it was a mixed bag, but I think when you're trying to, if you look at it within the day, you're not looking at it right.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you're looking at it one day to the next, when it comes to kill a bunch, you're not looking at it right.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's more about looking at it from week to week, and of course, you know, over the course of the whole month as well, if it was a whole training camp.
[SPEAKER_00]: And if you look at it from that perspective, right, you're seeing that there's an improvement in process.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I have not been there every day, it takes the only day I was there, but from, you know, previous reports that I've heard, and in terms of, [SPEAKER_00]: You know, some clips that you get to see and some things that you're hearing from the bears coaches as well that that process is improving.
[SPEAKER_00]: That the he's all able to operate a better speed.
[SPEAKER_00]: Actually, I believe that one Doyle actually was on record today saying exactly that his his process is getting better and better.
[SPEAKER_00]: Unfortunately though, I mean, you as forever, good that there is again, there's still so bad.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so they just be on the same page.
[SPEAKER_00]: So for example, you know, sitting in the end one view.
[SPEAKER_00]: Just a comment here.
[SPEAKER_00]: Chris Mac should we start hating on the Steelers.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if you start hating on the Steelers.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I think the Steelers hate on themselves enough.
[SPEAKER_00]: They hate they're stuck in this.
[SPEAKER_00]: Ridiculous of a weight of good enough to make a playoff, but not bad enough to be a good draft position.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just also going to, till the day I die, be an Aaron Rodgersator, it just is what it is.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the NFL is better with if Aaron's good, but he's just not that guy anymore.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm like not, I don't know, that'll actively root for Sealer's losses, but I probably will actively root for Aaron just to not look good in that, I guess, unfortunately, they're two kind of come together, but thanks Chris for that comment.
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, the, it's anyway, back to that play.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's a couple.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's two plays very similar.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it was Rome coming up the, the left sideline of coming in into it in the end one and Caleb puts the ball in the to the front pylon and Rome is turned to the other way.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now that's just a communication thing, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, to me, at least for my, you know, again, fan point of view and this what's I can play, Caleb put the ball in the right spot that will make sense, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: The defensive back is more on the, you know, inside shade on enrollment row me to turn outside and to get that ball and that happens twice.
[SPEAKER_00]: So that's two touchdown opportunities that that they missed just because it seems like Caleb and Roman worked on the same page.
[SPEAKER_00]: One other layer too fast that I think Caleb can still improve on.
[SPEAKER_00]: And this was talked about at the beginning of training.
[SPEAKER_00]: A really OTAs was the hands up stuff, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, when things get frustrating, I think it's easy for a lot of vinyl.
[SPEAKER_00]: I haven't terrible at this.
[SPEAKER_00]: If I'm, I'm playing pickup basketball.
[SPEAKER_00]: And there's one that one person that comes down the core dribbles and shoots it right away and is in parix of three.
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's just, you put the, like, what the hell dude?
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, can you make these past the ball one time?
[SPEAKER_00]: You've chucked it up for the last three possessions.
[SPEAKER_00]: But when you're in a professional football team and you're the leader of that team, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you can't have those hands up moments.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's a difference between trying to be a leader and fiery, and you can be upset with all of the motions, but so for example, after these two plays, you can kind of see Caleb throw the arms up, like the grown that wasn't where I expect you to be on those two plays.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, that's something that's happening, and then you also have, like, for example, in the practice.
[SPEAKER_00]: Caleb tried throwing it to a tight window and the shot right picked them off and that was the end of practice.
[SPEAKER_00]: The exact situation to write that down.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, I didn't write that down, but [SPEAKER_00]: Because for a couple of eleven and eleven, it's a little less situational kind of like, hey, we're just coming from the five.
[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, we're going through the ten.
[SPEAKER_00]: But the very last session was more, you know, hey, it's we're actually trying to score.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's first in ten.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's mark down the field.
[SPEAKER_00]: But I didn't write down exactly what that with a down in distance was, was there.
[SPEAKER_00]: But that's a rough way for an up and down practice to wrap it up, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: You don't want to end on an intersection.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, that being said, you're trying to look at this through a relatively positive lens as well, where you do, you do have the question mark, but it comes to Jill and Johnson, because, you know, I see ready for a week one.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, as far as I'm hearing, I think you should be, but you take that question mark, except further, and who is your point of back, too?
[SPEAKER_00]: I know there's a lot of bear's fans that are fairly anti-trires, even for some of the shenanigans from last year.
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, some of the up and down play he's had, but if anything, this is the defense you also want.
[SPEAKER_00]: I received his playing in.
[SPEAKER_00]: He is in a aggressive corner.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's a press corner.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's a man corner and so playing for Denzel and that is a matchman heaven.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then that being said, Nishon Wright has ties to some of the coaching staff from previous stop in, you know, for idea ways, if you have a true competition between Nishon and Tyreek, that's fantastic.
[SPEAKER_00]: If Terrell Smith is still in there.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's still, you know, he's been [SPEAKER_00]: Unfortunately, it hurt, so he just has not necessarily been true.
[SPEAKER_00]: Really had a chance to show what he can do on the field consistently, but he moves out there today to probably find actually had a couple of good pass break ups in some one of the one on once.
[SPEAKER_00]: You want to have a bunch of corners is not a problem.
[SPEAKER_00]: I know even some people can go as far as, you know, obviously, the micoparsons and news drop that he's requesting a trade.
[SPEAKER_00]: We all know Matt Eberfluce is defensive coordinator over in Dallas, [SPEAKER_00]: Are there, is there a world where the bears can pull off a, two thousand, eighteen, Cleo, McTrade, two point out.
[SPEAKER_00]: I know, and some people at some organizations groups have flowed out the idea of including players as a part of that to lessen the capital below that might be going out instead of it being multiple firsts in that way.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I know Jalen Johnson's name was brought up in that now.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't really exactly what a trade like that would look like.
[SPEAKER_00]: It would cost you for sure plus any else you have to pay the guy to.
[SPEAKER_00]: You'd like to stay whole at edge.
[SPEAKER_00]: You don't want to just slightly upgrade there.
[SPEAKER_00]: So if you could try to figure out a way to keep sweat and persons that's where you would want to live.
[SPEAKER_00]: And in this too high safety world.
[SPEAKER_00]: pressure is more important than coverage.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to be putting on it.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, in a world that you could justify moving jail and johnson, for example, one that helps with money into maybe lessening that blow of draft capital, it can you, it can you be do that because you're confident in, hey, we have to shine right and tie we can wear now or two corners.
[SPEAKER_00]: We have to rule smithes or backup.
[SPEAKER_00]: But you have to be confident.
[SPEAKER_00]: And that's a whole thing, but that's a conversation for another day.
[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, so like I would say in these last few practices, it does feel like from what I've seen from other reports and things like that, it feels like Caleb and the offense are getting more and more comfortable, which you weren't really seeing at all last year, for example, so that's a huge step.
[SPEAKER_00]: And we're we're still operating in the thought process that like again, Dennis Allen, Barry's pressure and [SPEAKER_00]: Probably some of them, not the most pressure, but in a higher percentage than some of the other teams will face.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, and take today, right, they're not all right, so I go a little bit, you're rotated out your right guard today.
[SPEAKER_00]: With that old app being said, [SPEAKER_00]: You know, if you can operate, you know, basically trying to drink from a water hose with all this stuff coming at you, whether it's the different plays, whether it's the pressure packages, trying to create situations that actually make a cable very uncomfortable, then hopefully when you're getting to the actual season where you're selecting, all right, instead of the hundred percent of stuff that we were working on in training camp, we're gonna work with the seventy percent that we know were the most confident in and we'll start to sprinkle the other things as it's super presses.
[SPEAKER_00]: But also, again, that you're playing a team that's not going to play with a Dennis Allen as intensity or blitz packages, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: You may not see something like that necessarily until the floor is Viking's games since he's a madman as a defensive coordinator.
[SPEAKER_00]: You may not necessarily, you know, have you going against the Montesquite coming at you?
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you're going to be playing some good people don't give you wrong, but I still think really highly of Montesquite, even if other people don't.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's that's what we'll have for the show today.
[SPEAKER_00]: Just want to give you guys a general idea that temperature of the room.
[SPEAKER_00]: We could say as both of that practice looks like.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, if I could leave it at one thing, I mean, I'd say.
[SPEAKER_00]: I feel better watching it myself.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think listening and arguing and reading some of the commentary I'm waiting up to this, I was a little worried, like, is, is Caleb getting in.
[SPEAKER_00]: But seeing it myself, you can see that he is the process, like, processing is getting better.
[SPEAKER_00]: The timing is getting better.
[SPEAKER_00]: You can see why he's as uncomfortable as he is in the pocket at times and why some of these incompletions or even interceptions are happening.
[SPEAKER_00]: I like the idea right now of trying to challenge defense and maybe leading to those interceptions in practice because you don't know what you can get away with until you try it.
[SPEAKER_00]: And last year, I mean, one of the reasons I believe that the deep ball percentage was as low as it was was because [SPEAKER_00]: Kale was worried about turning ball over.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Matt, you produce whole thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's protect the football.
[SPEAKER_00]: Do not turn the ball over.
[SPEAKER_00]: And on a deep ball, it's, you know, usually have fifty-fifty ball.
[SPEAKER_00]: One of the ways to make it not, you know, fifty-fifty and make it more in your favor is to probably put a little more air on it and overthrow, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: And so I like the idea of him trying to challenge that a bit more.
[SPEAKER_00]: There was not a lot of deep ball work in this practice.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was much but very red one, red one heavy.
[SPEAKER_00]: The devins of the defense, they're getting some pressure, which is nice.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're seeing some interesting stuff from the line.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's hard from the vantage point that I was into.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, because, again, I was in the end one.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, you're just walking from behind the DNA.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, we had a different angle to see exactly what's going on there from the defensive line play.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like what the stunts look like and everything like that.
[SPEAKER_00]: You get much more idea of the secondary view.
[SPEAKER_00]: guys like, I mean, briskers flying around.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was, that was very exciting.
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, he's clearly solely around that defense and, and the team feeds off of that, seeing the, again, the Sean Wright make that interception was great.
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, but at the same time, you are seeing guys like with a burden and close to love and make plays.
[SPEAKER_00]: DJ Moore had a touchdown during one of the eleven on elevens in the back of the end one.
[SPEAKER_00]: Cole, come on, I already mentioned his touchdown, but he's still involved there and probably a little bit more of a natural fit in terms of the routes he now is being asked to run compared to last year when he had to run all of the tight end routes.
[SPEAKER_00]: And again, in a system that was terrible, I mean, the Shane Walter system was trash.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was like a fever dream of why is this receiver running that route and why is that tight end doing this?
[SPEAKER_00]: It just never made sense.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, overall, I feel a lot better coming on and back practice than I did going into it in terms of what I thought I would see.
[SPEAKER_00]: It'll be very interesting, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: We're very close.
[SPEAKER_00]: A week from tomorrow is the first preseason game.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, it'll be vanilla.
[SPEAKER_00]: I know specifically what was the first game last preseason game last year.
[SPEAKER_00]: We saw that DeAndre Swift screen for a touchdown and everyone [SPEAKER_00]: was was super excited about it.
[SPEAKER_00]: I was, I was super excited about it and then we get to the regular season and realize the bear is going to move a football.
[SPEAKER_00]: So there's no much we can take from these preseason games, but at least we'll have a hand idea of what that'll look like.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think even looking back, you could tell a little bit.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, there wasn't really a lot of explosive stuff down the field in any of the bear's preseason games and that translates the regular season.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, we'll take a look at it, it's a grain of salt.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to have a couple of other people pop on it and help out.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then of course during the regular season, we will also have our traditional Thursday previews for Danny me and myself go through the matchups and talk about what we were looking forward to in that game.
[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, fairdown, everybody.
[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, um, what has two thumbs and hates Todd Faker.
[SPEAKER_00]: This guy.
