Well, hey there, and welcome to Straight from the Stylist Chair.
This is a special QA series here on All About Hair.
I'm your host, Denise Keilitz, and I'm here to answer the real questions clients ask in the salon so you can feel confident and love every visit.
Welcome back to Straight from the Stylist Chair, where I tackle the questions you've always wanted to ask your stylists.
So today's question is: should I be taking hair vitamins or supplements?
Hmm.
Well, let's talk about this.
Hair vitamins.
Are they a miracle or is it just marketing?
It's tempting to buy every pretty bottle that promises thicker, longer hair.
Believe me, I've been a victim of that.
But do you really need them?
Or are you just buying expensive candy?
Look, not all supplements are created equal.
Some don't have research behind them, and taking them without knowing if you have a deficiency can be pointless or even downright unsafe.
If you're low in things like biotin, vitamin D, or zinc, supplements can help, but the best first step is always a balanced diet and if possible, a chat with your doctor or a blood test before starting anything new.
Your stylus can help with product advice, but your health provider should help with your supplements.
When you supplement smartly, you're not wasting money.
You're actually giving your body what it's missing to support healthy hair growth.
Hey, thanks for hanging out with me today.
I hope today's chat helps you walk into your next appointment feeling totally confident.
