What could a Sam Darnold contract look like? Plus, a Sound Soiree to end your day

Episode Transcript

Speaker 1

Brendon.

Speaker 2

I can't even make eye contact with you right now.

Your voice is like a combination of Fergie and Jesus.

Speaker 3

Now back to Dirty Work Adam Copeland and Derek Papa on K and B R one oh four five and six eighty Am the sports Leader.

Dirty Work is sponsored by Jack's Restaurant and Bar and all Day any Day kind of plays.

Speaker 1

Thirty Work on a Tuesday.

I was inspired that that rejoined by Derek singing his his Kiwei Tang song again before the bread gets better.

Speaker 2

Every time I think we gotta retire it though, because he's gone, Well we.

Speaker 1

Got what I say is we just got a clip it then we can replay it.

But yeah, dide seeing you live.

Speaker 2

I know I hear in the right doing it, but it makes no sense when he's not on the roster anymore.

See but you love him, I mean love I do.

We usually find a new giant where I sing a song well.

Speaker 1

As you as you saw bad Bunny say on Sunday, Dude, the only thing stronger than hate his love.

Speaker 2

That is true there.

Speaker 1

It's for Kiawai Tang or others.

Speaker 2

I can just come over with something.

Speaker 4

New, find somebody with the three syllable name and just insert it in there.

Speaker 1

No, no, no, no, we gotta go an noo.

Speaker 2

It's tang song inserted in there.

Eh, well that's what she said.

Let me let me leave figure out I'll toy with some names.

Well, dude, how about during the bread tinkering.

Speaker 1

Tell ebody what you.

Speaker 2

Did during the bread Baker?

Speaker 1

No, no, that's what happens.

He goes, he goes, I gotta come up with a new song.

And he doesn't even say anything.

He just goes, I'm brew Beaker.

Speaker 2

I was like, you're going, that's the safety and brew Baker the thing.

It has to be a very obscure giant.

Then when you see him play, you're like, he's playing today, but we get a song out of it.

Uh, that is a random brew Baker.

I mean arth breaker.

Won't you show my shoes for free?

Speaker 1

Oh?

Why don't you strike me out for three?

I mean maybe brew Baker is your guy.

Speaker 2

It might be.

Speaker 1

It's gotta be a gauge in there, dude.

Speaker 2

Oh gage, I'm just just a throwing it's my gauge, the offspring.

Speaker 1

Yeah no, no, no, no, no, dude, this is this is we're working on something here, dude, We're going giants bullpen tunes.

Speaker 2

There there we go.

Speaker 1

Wait, me and Tim start working in Sharks players for you and you gotta get hell yeah.

Speaker 2

The name is a stop exactly.

Give me a knight, Give me a night you figure that one out.

Speaker 1

Give me an askaroff?

Yes, anyway, that'd madolo stop to come on all right, just to stop the goal.

It's nine si chp.

Just as major props to Derek for having the guts to do that.

Speaker 2

Oh yeah, didn't have the guts to call the guts to sing a song with Kaiwa Tang.

Speaker 1

Seven O seven on the text line says that was that was the first time I'd heard that and hilarious.

Derek was kind of killing that.

Five three says uh uh.

If there was a d Pop Super Bowl show, I would be an alternate broadcast.

I would have to think about which one I'd have to watch, Kid Rock or me.

It's a shame that Kway Tang song has been retired.

Speaker 2

Who would be more popular than me or the turning point at Super Bowl?

Speaker 1

Imagine the ad is like the adds like Dude Bad benty one hundred and thirty four million viewers, Derek five, Kid Ray Rock, Kid Rock million, Derek.

Speaker 2

Five, he got Ernie Ernie one.

Uh Rock Era, I'll stop by for the YouTube chat motos there.

Speaker 1

Uh yeah more seven to seven, Or says if Donald gets more money than Perty, then Kanad is most likely not back unless they franchise taging.

Speaker 2

Well, okay, so yesterday we're talking.

Speaker 1

But Arker's a free agent.

Speaker 2

He is, and I gotta believe he's not gonna make more than Saquon Barkley or Christian McCaffery.

Speaker 1

I mean that would be.

Speaker 2

Yeah, he's good, but the guys come off of Super Bowl MVPs.

I'm a dude.

I remember I ask Al Davis ridiculously paid for Larry Brown, the old cornerback with the Dallas Cowboys that won Super Bowl MVP.

Speaker 1

I was like, damn the basketball coche.

Speaker 2

No no, no, no, no much younger Larry Brown and then Desmond Howard.

He overpaid for two guys.

Yeah, these guys win Superowl MVP and it changes things.

But I think Kenneth Walker should make twelve million year, fifteen million year.

Maybe that's even too high for Sam Donald.

Yes, he won a Super Bowl, so he's in the range now where he should probably should be in the forty five million dollar range, it should be more than brock Purdy.

If you want to bump up to fifty, I'm cool with that too.

But I think that brock Purty show him this year.

He has more command of the position, He understands more about not understands more, but like he's just playing at a higher level than he did in the past.

I thought the Colts game, I thought the Bears game.

He's playing on a different level.

So I think it's showed this year that brock Purdy earned his money where Sam Donald did as well.

He deserves a raise.

But to say he's playing at the same level as Sam Donald, I wouldn't say that.

I think that it's similar where Rock Purdy.

It's not the same thing in the years past where people were like he needs so much talent around him.

I don't think that's the case.

Speaker 1

He doesn't have that.

I mean, I'm talking about he hit and McCaffrey with an all time season this year.

Speaker 2

Yes he did, but at the same time, like he needs Kyle There's no doubt about that.

But a lot of quarterbacks need great play callers, and he played with DeMarcus Robertson and Kendrick bourn this year at some times didn't have George Kittle at Jake Tongjis.

So I think brock Purdy put that narrative to bed where he needs a bunch of talent around him.

With Sam Darnold, Yes, he's a really good player.

He didn't do much in the Super Bowl.

He don't need to.

When you're up twelve nothing, you throw a touchdown pass to AJ Barner and you have that defense.

But to say that he should be paid in the same vein as a brock Purty just because he won a Super Bowl, I think that's ridiculous.

I think brock Purty has more playoff success.

Rock Purty put the Niners in a good position to win the Super Bowl.

So yeah, if you're asking me to compare the two quarterbacks and their contracts, I think that Brock's, you know, got approperly paid a year ago fifty three million a year.

I think Sam should be paid anywhere from forty five to fifty.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I think he deserves that.

I mean, he back to back seasons with fourteen wins, four thousand yards.

Again, the short of the postseason he just had was incredible.

Yeah, he passed to the offensive player of the Year.

Speaker 2

Sorry, I just saw on the text lines seven I'm saven, Thanks Derek, my wife is pretty I was going to.

Speaker 1

Give back to that seven to seven on your song as my wife's freighting.

Now, like I Sam, like again, anybody who thinks he shouldn't get forty five, I'd remind you that Daniel Jones got forty.

Yeah, after going to one playoff game they won.

Didn'ty win a playoff game?

He won that playoff he put two.

So they played two playoff games and went divisional round.

In dables first year, he threw fifteen touchdowns and five picks, yeah or four picks or whatever.

Speaker 2

Fifteen touchdowns though, that was ridiculous, and that's what ultimately led to Saquon leaving.

Speaker 1

And he had to get a contract because it was in the after the third year.

Yeah, he was going into the second last year of his rookie deal.

You got to sign him, you got to give an extension or make him play it out, and they were and Dables in his first year he wasn't gonna do that, right, I had to pick up the option organ m a contract.

So here's where where forty five would put Sam Donald Right now at the average, you'd go AAV on the forty five.

Yeah, so just right behind I think Kyler, right, that would put him tied with this past season it was Kirk Cousins and Mahomes are both at forty five, and Mahomes is different because he signed it way long ago.

Yeah, Stafford's at forty two.

Speaker 2

He's going to get a race.

Speaker 1

Here's what I would tell everybody.

Sam Donald the thirty three five this year on average GINO thirty seven five, Well.

Speaker 2

He's gonna he's gonna cut she she knows, not remaining with the race, of.

Speaker 1

Course, but that was the AAV And when you're going to iole perform to everybody, Yeah, it was around me.

By the way, I'll performed Mahomes this year too, and I went the bull.

Yeah, so that's not a case against him getting top.

I mean, fifty million would put him right behind Jalen Hurds round above Kyler.

Speaker 2

If Sam Darnold gets forty five to fifty million a year, Matthew Stafford would go to the RAMS and'd be like, I just want MVP.

I put up twenty seven points on this Seattle Seahawks defense.

I almost beat them in the regular season.

If had not been for that two point conversion.

I deserve to be paid more.

Speaker 1

Than and he's gonna say, and Trevor Lawrence and Jordan Leverman in fifty five, Yes, and I'm making forty two.

Speaker 2

Yep, that's definite gonna happen, no question.

No.

Speaker 1

I think both those guys are getting new deals this year.

Speaker 2

Yeah, as they should.

And Jasam will probably be your highest paid wide receiver in football.

I could see him getting forty two years.

Speaker 1

Poo, go do it next year?

Speaker 2

Who could?

No, poogo?

Speaker 1

They're both this off season, they're both now.

Speaker 2

Yeah, so watch Sam or Matthew Stafford and Whokunaku will get paid this offseason.

And you know, we'll see what the window is for the Rams.

But they're playing the super Bowl and sofar and they want to do the same thing they did five years ago where they went all in that season just to play the Super Bowl and winning in their own stadium.

Speaker 1

Yeah.

I mean it could very well be staffords last year.

Yep, who knows?

I mean every year now could it could potentially be his his last season back out to the Golden State Lumber and showroom.

Text line.

Yeah, that's seven seven sent after Derek saying, thanks Derek, my wife's pregnant.

Speaker 2

Now, sorry about that.

Speaker 1

Four O eight says, did Derek get into the gummy drawer because he is all and fuego right now says the gummies to sing, come on on fire, I think they're saying, because of your quips right now on these on these bits, give me out hose.

But you got one for that.

Speaker 2

Ooh bhuto, um give me a second on that one.

Speaker 1

Mm yeah, all right, you think about that now out to the text line here.

Nine six says their question today was what g I don't know what he's saying.

Oh, Nick right and Colin Coward they're talking about their show today.

They didn't even put Rock pretty in the top five quarterback in the NFC.

They're putting Sam Darnold behind Matt Stafford.

Their question today was what GM today after the Super Bowl?

Would not take Sam Donald over everyone except Stafford in the NFC and maybe dak Mm hmm.

So what you're so, which GM?

How many QB how many quarterbacks would you would you take over Donald?

In the NFC?

Speaker 2

Right now?

Speaker 1

Is the question.

Speaker 2

Over Donald?

I mean a lot.

I would Stafford?

Uh brock perty They were.

Speaker 1

Saying, I guess what this this text was donamand sire saying that Coward and Wright whatever we're saying, it's so take that they would have Donald behind Stafford and and Dak maybe.

Speaker 2

M that's it.

Yeah, I mean I would have It's crazy, I'd have Donald ahead of Galen Hurts at this point.

Speaker 1

I would have Golf ahead of Donald.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I would too.

Speaker 1

His accuracy, I would take golf ahead of ye would as well if he's on that team.

Speaker 2

Yesterday, well that's the thing, like not to diminish with Sam Donald.

A comp put a good point yesterday that somebody made on the text line.

How many quarterbacks could could have been on that Seahawks team and still would have won the Super Bowl A lot?

Speaker 1

That's I think.

I think a bunch of them.

But again that speaks to how good their defense was.

Speaker 2

Also the offensive scheme and the playmakers around him.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I mean he put He's still passed the ball to the offensive player of the year.

You know what I mean, he still had you gotta deliver it.

Speaker 2

Okay, if you think Jared Goff is on the Seahawks, I think he puts up like forty five touchdown passes with.

Speaker 1

James he's so many.

He's one Like, isn't he the most accurate pass with the leader one of them?

Yeah, one of them is consistently one of the most accurate.

Speaker 2

Yeah, and then he may be more turnover prone, where Sam is kind of a little more conservative during the playoffs.

But you go for it more because you trust Jared Goff more than you do Sam Donald.

Speaker 3

Yeah.

Speaker 2

I put a lot more guys ahead of Sam Darnald, not to take away think he did, because his comeback story is incredible.

I know some people yesterday I saw Adam Shine say it's the best comeback story in NFL history, and I'm like, that's slow your role.

Like Jim Plunkett.

People forget he was the first overall pick years ago.

Speaker 1

Dude, Damar Hamlin died that too.

Speaker 2

He died on the freaking field.

Speaker 1

There's no better comeback a guy died in the history of the NFL.

He died on the field.

And then he still plays football.

He still plays football.

He's still in the NFL.

Speaker 2

Not a great safety.

Speaker 1

He's got a movie.

Speaker 2

You're making a movie.

Speaker 1

No, I remember there was like that romance that bills Christmas Hallmark.

Speaker 2

Oh yeah, he's not about him though, how about that we're making a Hallmark movie about the bills.

It's not about tomorrow.

Speaker 1

Hamley, I talk about fixing a broken heart?

Can while he's okay, I.

Speaker 2

Can riff now come on, he says that line in the background like it's like it's it's like a light cut.

Speaker 1

It's like it's like an.

Speaker 2

Adam Sandler cameo, or just like he's talking to nobody, but just in the crowd.

Be like, talk about fixing a broken heart?

Who am I talking to?

Speaker 1

So stupid?

It's domb.

We're glad he's okay and he dude, that's the best coming back to Alex Smith.

Yeah, dude, Alex Smith was Actually that's another one, like he almost lost his leg and his life.

Speaker 2

Not to mention his career as well.

It could of parallels added to Sam Donald.

Speaker 1

I mean he might not have had that much longer, but he wasn't done.

No, honestly, a few more.

He was going on a few more years.

Speaker 2

Those Chiefs teams, he was put the same situation, Alex what you said yesterday.

He went through so many different coordinators with the forty nine Ers played with North Turner that one year in two thousand and six, played pretty well.

Then they changed it again and then god he the worst thing was having Mike Singletary with Alex Smith, where he's he's not a quarterback whisperer by any means.

Speaker 4

He didn't.

Speaker 2

He didn't know x's and o's.

Speaker 1

He killed the quarterbacks.

Yeah, the opposite.

Speaker 2

But then they get rid of him.

He would be I mean, he was great with Horrorball, but they wanted to upgrade obviously, and Kaepernick was out playing him.

So he goes to Kansas City.

He plays great with Andy Reid, but again they want to upgrade.

If Alex Smith could have done the same thing that Sam Donald did with the Seahawks, in my opinion, yeah, Alex Smith is like in terms of like the like.

Speaker 1

Again, I'm not going to compare injuries or compare what happened he and Hamlin, but those are more in the same class to be as like incredible comebacks.

Yeah, donld again, dude, Gino Smith didn't come back from us.

It's a great story.

It's why we love sports.

I said this to you the other day.

I'm like, this is what I love about sports.

And I've seen you all the time too.

I love a player in pro sports who has something to prove, because when they achieve what it is that at the highest level, or if it's an individual achievement, it's what allows us as people, as humanity to believe.

If I think something, I can achieve it, that's literally watching human achievement.

So to me, I look at Sam Donald, like, that's a guy who knew he had morendum who didn't let it get get like the cuts and the losing his gig and all the sea and ghosts in the New York media, didn't let all that get to him.

And he said that in his post game he said, you know, my family never stopped believing in me.

I believed in me.

I knew I had won.

I knew I could do this.

It was just about calibrating and getting into the right situation.

And that is so much, if not just sports, it's life, right about finding the right situation to try to hit a goal and preparing so that when that situation confronts you you're ready to take it.

And Sam don't.

It was so uh.

It's not to take anything from him at all.

They're there.

I mean, the defense was elite, But for me, I'm like, he didn't come back from anything.

He achieved what every one of us hopes to achieve in any facet or phase of our lives.

Right, So that to me is like the same as saying he's the best comeback ever.

I'm like, dude, Alex Smith really did almost die and lose his leg and he came back and he played Hamlin came back and played like somebody here Texas says for Kurt warnerback and groceries is a better comeback story.

He didn't come back from anything.

He wasn't good enough to play.

He was in the That's like saying, anybody who get like what it's an underdog story.

In Quartes, that's a comeback story because he kicked in the XFL verst when to come back, he hit, no, you gotta be there and then not be there and then come back.

Speaker 2

But he's an American underdog.

Speaker 1

You see that money.

Yeah it's not a great movie.

Speaker 3

No, it's not.

Speaker 1

Did you see by the way, uh I think I threw this into be or I've seen it was gonna be in the bag, but it never made it in David Corny Sweat, the guy who plays a the New Superman.

Yeah, they're making a movie, mister irrelevant, about the first ever Mister Irrelevant and his story the nickname.

Speaker 2

I don't know the name of the player off the top of my head, but he has a fascinating story where he got in the NFL actually a pretty good running back with the New York Giants, then unfortunately passed away due to cancer.

So that's you know, it's gonna be interesting story, I think.

But people saw they they're making a Mister of elevant movies like oh Bruck Perdy.

No, there was a guy back in the day.

I don't know his name on the top of my head, but yeah, a pretty good story with the New York Giants.

As far as the running back, yeah, his name, Uh yeah, John Tuggle.

Yeah, there you go, John Tuggle.

Michael Shannon is playing Bill Parcells.

Michael, who's Michael Shannon again, Bill Parcells.

You would recognize him.

Speaker 1

It's funny.

Michael Shannon actually was the General Zod in The Last Superman.

Oh yeah, I know.

Speaker 2

Michael Shannon really good actor.

I can't see him playing Parcels.

You're gonna have to He's gonna have to nail the voice.

Speaker 1

I mean, just like Nick Cage is gonna nail Al Davis, Like uh well.

Speaker 2

No, no, no, Nick Nick Cage playing John Madden.

We're mad and now's see how that goes.

In the brief trailer that uh Frank Kelly and it was ripping on uh bail knocks out of the Park is as Al Davis.

Speaker 1

Yeah, seriously, I got to see Nick Cage.

There was John he was doing John Madden.

Speaker 2

As here it goes.

We got a guy here, we got a guy here.

Speaker 1

We're still the Declaration of Independence.

All right, I'll take a little far.

I'll take a quick print that I'm coping te pop too well.

But the age dirty work on a on a Tuesday evening.

By the way, I'm only saying this because I think we can both go to it.

Earlier you were talking about we're talking about bringing cigars.

Yeah, you were because you're going to Houston and see your mom and you said you didn't have a uh enough room.

I'm only bringing a head because your mom texted you about something during the show.

My dad texted me about something during the show as well.

I'm gonna read mine.

Yours is fine, fine too, go for we'll do it next.

We'll do it next.

Watch that, we'll do it next.

And the sounds of us pissing our parents off on these sports.

Speaker 2

Later.

Speaker 3

Now back to Dirty Work.

Adam Copeland and Derek Papa on kN b R one oh four, five and six eighty am the sport dirty Work getting sponsored by Jack's Restaurant and Bar and all day any day kind of place.

Speaker 1

Dirty Work on a Tuesday or our favorite days.

By the way, we're gonna be out.

We'd love to see everybody.

By everybody.

I'm talking to you.

Yeah, you sitting at that stop light, pulling into that gas station, getting ready to pick up dinner with your kids, arguing on the phone with your your wife or your husband and your girlfriend.

I'm talking to you.

I want to see you Friday.

Someone in the car righting six Jack's Restaurant and Bar in Pleasant Hill.

All you guys out to the filth, I want to see you on Friday.

Come out and hang out with Dirty Work.

Speaker 2

Yeah, there's been it's been a while now when we've been in San Jose and so people are like, come out to Pleasant Hill.

We're finally doing it.

Speaker 1

We would say it's our most frequent Yeah, it's the thing that has said to us most frequently when we go to San Jose's either from people on the text line.

We've got callers say it and people who show up out there and go when you guys come in to a pleasant hill.

Well, yeah, Saturday, Friday the thirteenth, I want to see you.

Yeah.

Speaker 4

You remember we hadn't stop all the way from Santa Rose and the San Jose embering out.

Speaker 2

That was insane.

So I want to see all the filth.

I want to see Ernie, I want to see rock and New Era.

I want to see tech.

You want to see aj Cruz.

Bring me gifts, that'd be nice.

Take it on a train, bring me gifts.

Speaker 1

You're gonna bring a bag like, yeah, I could put.

Speaker 2

In my back back when I fly home.

Speaker 1

Man, Yeah, we'll see.

All right, you're dude, yours.

You're a piece of a.

Speaker 4

Piece of questionable that he would have to explain when he goes to the security.

Speaker 2

Can you imagine that?

Speaker 1

All right?

Speaker 2

So before we it's all this jerk sauce, before.

Speaker 1

We, uh, we get to these sounds us.

So earlier in the show, Derek was like, I was saying, Friday is our last show at full strength for yeah, like three weeks.

Deren's off all of next week.

I'm off Monday and then the end of the week.

I'll just be here Tuesday Wednesday next week because of the Monday holiday, and then I'm going overseas and i'll be back March ninth.

Will be my first show back the Frenzy.

You'll be back, You'll be back before.

I don't know.

My days are gonna be all off once I leave anyway, So Friday's our last show at full strength.

Derek's going to Textice to see his mom, and and of course when he went to see her in Florida when we were still getting to know Derek about a year ago, we found out that Derek was, Uh, were you bringing cigars with you?

Yeah?

I had uh because he brought He had said he had packed some cigars and he just had him in a zip block and so we were kind of getting a crap for it.

Speaker 2

They were poorly.

Uh, I guess ventilated.

Speaker 1

I'm gonna call them crunchy is what I would have said.

Speaker 2

Yeah, crispy cigars.

Speaker 1

And so then the Great Rocket New Era, one of the awesome members of the Fifth You see him on the YouTube chat, you see him all over the Dreamy Work Live broadcast.

Hopefully we see him Friday.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I'm sure, he'll be.

Speaker 1

There'll be.

He got you a human order, didn't he?

Speaker 2

Uh?

He did, and it's in Uh, it's in Houston with my mom.

And I got some stogies that are that are in Houston.

Speaker 1

So Derek said that he couldn't smoke cigars now though, because his mom moved from Florida Houston, and he said there's not a room on her patio.

Is there an update on that.

Speaker 2

Yeah, my mom listens to show every day.

She texted me.

She had to tell me this during the show.

I have a backyard with a couch where you could smoke a cigar.

Also a street also down the street is a cigar bar.

Speaker 1

So look at that, dude.

Speaker 2

My mom's helping out Mama, Derek.

Mom's mom's part of the filth.

Speaker 1

That's nice, dude.

Speaker 2

Mom's coming through big time.

Speaker 1

She's like, dude, you I have I have numerous places for you to fill your lungs with smoke.

Speaker 2

Yes, she wants me to be happy.

He wants me to be happy.

Speaker 1

I have all the places in the world for you to.

Speaker 4

To Derek this off there too.

I'm gonna bring give him a couple of stogies as well to take with him.

So while you're out there not on the porch, I'm gonna think about dirty.

Speaker 1

Work you think he needs.

Speaker 2

He's got a lot of visits in my mom where I need to smoke Stogy's.

Speaker 1

Oh yeah, yeah, all right, Well so my dad, my dad texted, okay, So we were also talking about Tim Tim and his Tim's Tuesday takes in Trivia.

His Slice of Life take was about the Christmas tree, right, and he was Tim was saying that he saw somebody have a Christmas tree out on the street yesterday.

Yeah he saw when yesterday, February ninth.

That's way too late, way too late.

So what did Brian say?

So my dad checks in.

We were saying, how long can you have a Christmas tree out?

You're like at your house?

When's it too late to put it out?

And I said Jan five?

I said Jan seven.

I so I'll give you a week.

Somebody else in maybe two weeks into January.

I'm out, Like first week of jan I'm out.

My dad texted and I didn't even know he ever listens, I mean on occasion, but first time he's texted.

Yeah, all I said was my tree came down Thursday.

Spelled it out?

F you both.

I don't it.

Speaker 2

I don't hate it as long as you stand on that.

You know it's late.

You're like, you know what, screw you.

I do it on my time.

And I'm kind of with your dad in the respective.

We're not trying to.

Speaker 4

I just think it's funny when you see the tree that's out there that has been discarded so far late, because what you're saying to the rest of your and everybody is, yeah, I kept it a long time, and yeah, I don't.

Speaker 2

Want to deal with it anymore.

Here it's on the street.

Speaker 1

Yeah, that's not my dad.

And this was out of love my dad, I guarantee you see.

My dad was like trying to get my sister to come over for like that, like a party where we undecorate the tree.

Once you come over and do it, and I'll cook dinner.

Yeah, yeah, once you go do it.

Like I'm eight months pregnant, I'm doing that.

I don't know if that happened, but I like to imagine this.

Yeah, and I have the mic.

What's it gonna say?

Speaker 2

That's what we like to picture your life.

Speaker 1

That's the way I like to I know my family, all right, why don't we we get into it some of the best sounds from across the sports world you might have missed with the dirty work sounds.

Speaker 2

Worried, please, he's dirty works sounds sway, No.

Speaker 1

I've whipped up this nasty little sarez the best sounds you might have missed.

What swar rag honey?

I think that means.

Speaker 2

Party would be Sports Leader.

Speaker 1

Your sounds for Tuesday, February tenth, twenty twenty six, and it starts today.

Give me just a second, I promise, I'll.

Speaker 2

Tell you're all good.

I forgot I forgot mec Van by the way, mc Van and why see out there in the mac.

Speaker 1

Van one of our great members in the field.

He says that Derek didn't say he wanted to see I know.

Speaker 2

I'm sorry.

I'm sorry.

Speaker 1

It's another gift for him.

No, we do want to see your fan.

We want to see all you guys.

Speaker 2

He gives the best gifts and the members of.

Speaker 1

The filk we haven't met.

By the way, Stop with the gifts, no one to buy anything, no gifts.

Stop with the gift.

Speaker 2

Gives a required stop asking the listeners.

Speaker 1

That he's for free on Friday, asking for stuff.

What are you doing?

Speaker 2

It's a matter with you it's not serious.

Speaker 1

I'm buying anybody else stuff I can oh, can you No, I won't have this guy anyway.

The sounds for already starts today with Steve Kerr.

This is before the game yesterday.

Yeah, uh yes, it was for the game yesterday.

So Macklin Celebrina.

We mentioned it.

When does when does Canada start?

Thursday?

Speaker 2

Thursday?

Speaker 1

Team Canada the the hockey seven.

Speaker 2

There we go.

Speaker 1

Okay, So Macklin on the first line had nineteen.

Speaker 2

Years on the first line.

Speaker 1

It's just pretty incredible.

Speaker 5

Man.

Speaker 1

It wasn't even the roster like two months ago.

I mean, there was like a whole big push for this.

So Steve Kerr man, he knows of course at Selbrini, he's been around Macklin.

Have you been following macklin successor st.

Speaker 6

Yeah, it's pretty exciting.

I can't wait to watch him play in the Olympics.

And Rick is heading over there with the family, uh to see him, which is really exciting.

Speaker 1

And I follow it, you know, I look at I look at.

Speaker 6

The scores, box scores every every day, and you know, they're really having a great turnaround season and it's so fun to see Mac doing so well, just especially the context of it all.

You know, he was hanging around here as you know, as a kid who is about fourteen, and and all of a sudden he's like, you know, in the MVP race in the NHL as a rookie year.

It's you know, just crazy, how quickly I guess second year?

Speaker 1

Second year?

Yeah, second year.

Speaker 6

But no, it's fun and it's always fun, you know, just seeing Rick and talking to him about the games, and sometimes on the team flight, you know, Rick will be watching the Sharks game on his phone and it's really been been a lot of fun to just you know, see it vicariously through Rick.

Speaker 1

You know, proud dad.

Speaker 2

I love the Warriors connection to the Sharks right now where we all know that they're you know, right now macklin celebrity is being compared to Steph Curry, but obviously Rick being evolved with the team and being Maclin's dad.

You hear Draymond invested with the Sharks right now watching Macklin, Steve just right there, one of your Steph has to think about mclin celebrity.

Speaker 1

That'd be interesting, Yeah, I will be, but he's not in the sound swarm R.

So moving on.

Speaker 3

You.

Speaker 1

I'm sorry a few kid, I want some sound that doesn't exist yet.

Let's go to to Tonyellow Giant star manager.

Look, he's got a he's got a host like a big coaching staff, a massive coaching staff, and he's gonna need every guy.

He's never done on this job before.

He's never managed beyond like sixty games in a season before, he's got to pick a big league roster.

Here's Tony Vitello at the start of spring trend and on delegating the workload as an MLB manager.

Speaker 5

Yeah, I think get more comfortable with delegating, but I think about nine years ago I definitely warmed up to it with the group of people that I was around.

And obviously Frank and Q are are guys, but I was around great people that were smarter and better at what they were in charge of doing than I am.

So that was one of the reasons we took our time on the coaching staff, was to make sure you call blind spots or just making sure you're covering areas that you want to or able to lean on people, so kind of pick up where it left off type of thing.

But yeah, a lot of new experiences, but also, you know, the guys have been at it since January.

It might be another question that pops up, But today's kind of day one.

But it seems like we're kind of picking up.

Other than everybody wearing the jerseys got mine on underneath.

Everybody knows who's who and it represents day one.

The guys are kind of picking up from where they left off because a lot of guys have been putting in work.

Speaker 2

Just like when a new coach goes into the NFL and they want to experience defensive coordinator, offensive coordinator.

I think that it's important that he needs to delegate and also lean on guys with experience managing, like Ron Washington or Chase Tingler this year.

Speaker 1

Well, yeah, there's dude, absolutely, there's also stuff that like like he won't even know he has to delegate yet.

Yeah, you know, I mean there's gonna be tasks or things that come up with it.

You know, we need to There's things that he's just gonna want to know that he can't take the time to do it.

Speaker 2

He put it perfectly in his press conference.

There's a lot of things he doesn't know.

He doesn't know.

It'll figure out along the way.

There's gonna be moments for people to call in and be like, what the hell was that it's gonna happen this year?

But it's baby steps with Tony Vaetello.

It's just the bottom line.

Speaker 1

Think sometimes this show, I think, so, yeah, it wouldn't be a baseball season.

Speaker 2

Yeah, You'll be well, we'll be doing a Giant's Day game, we'll be on doing post game afterwards, and you'll be pissed about a loss, and I'll be like, yeah, it's Tony though, he's learning, he's learning.

Speaker 1

You'll be you'll be more patient than me, kind of have to be.

No matter you think you'll be more patient than me.

Speaker 2

I mean, yes, Tim, do you do you agree?

Like like, yes, you're your vested in every game.

Speaker 1

I'm also not a patient person.

I know I'm not.

You're you are in general patient than you knew.

I was impatient when.

Speaker 2

It comes to Giants baseball.

You're just in general, like in life, I've really seen you be inpatient, like with other things.

I've seen you be impatient with people.

Speaker 1

Yeah.

Yeah, it's just like give me me dude, free free rent, free rents him.

What do you got.

Speaker 2

No, it's it's just an observation.

Speaker 1

But we've spent a lot of time with you or either is this a personal though?

Speaker 2

Oh absolutely not so many air.

Speaker 1

Some stuff out.

Dude, you've seen me being patient, but well, I mean I'm not one of those guys who are like stand in line and like four people back and be like we.

Speaker 4

Have a we have a phrase that you and I have Actually this is the show has it where it's something that somebody's wearing you out.

Speaker 1

Are you we're wearing Yeah, well you've seen me.

You've seen me just to wear that look on my face him where I get worn out.

Speaker 4

Now we all have about not you know, blowing up with people, but it happens, you know, we all do that though, absolutely, But.

Speaker 2

Like, yeah, I would say when it comes to Giants baseball, you are very impatient.

Yeah, like you're a fan, I get it.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I wouldn't that be Yeah, I wouldn't sound like impatient, Like I get this is gonna be a I don't even know, I don't know what, I don't know, Like this is this gonna be a process.

Yeah, I would say it's less about patience for me with this, and it's it's more about just like I know, we we like even if they're like kind of good early, You're like, okay, but still we're not even at sixty yet, Like we don't.

He's got to do a whole season before we're even Like that's a sample size, yea of him as a manager.

Like that's I can logically know that, and I can also watch the mistakes and be frustrated and say, that can happen in May, but that can't happen in August.

Speaker 2

And the schedule's brutal to sturred.

It's Yankees out the gate and then you got the Padres who else?

They play good?

Speaker 1

All right, all right, that's gonna do it for yourselves for it.

We'll save by some of some more of this for tomorrow show because we don't have another full one.

On a Wednesday, hump Day, Larry Kruger is coming up at the top of the hour at six o'clock with Niners Nightly Dirty Work on a Tuesday.

Speaker 2

I know I know we'll have Tuesday March tenth.

Tuesdays will always be our yes man, We'll always have Tuesday Tuesdays with Coach, not Maury Coach.

You ever read that book I've seen I've seen the movie with the hankas area and Jack Lemon?

Speaker 1

Is that the cast as Jack Lemon is Mariri?

Speaker 2

And yeah, Hank az Ari is the famous sports writer if you get his name of to my head Mitchell A.

Yeah, that's right.

Speaker 3

Yeah.

Speaker 1

And good book, good true story too personal experience.

Yes, my album.

Anyway, We'll be back tomorrow with another dirty work two to six.

Krueger is coming up next.

Why don't we put the show to bed?

Timmy got a note to self?

Speaker 4

Yeah, two quickies.

One, Like I said yesterday, it sucks that there's no football, but we're one day closer to that steak sandwich.

And also, sometimes you just got to pull a win out of your butt.

Speaker 1

The butt.

Speaker 2

Note to self, I need to find a new bar.

Uh.

Rest in peace to the Oakland Athletic Club.

It closed its doors yesterday after the Super Bowl.

It was a bar right across you from my house.

Spent a lot of time there with Jacob Violante, Danny Dunn, Walker, Walter, Icobal Seta.

It closed its doors and now I need to find a new watering hole.

Speaker 1

Wow, blasted everybody before you live.

Wait, so like what's your what you're like, you don't have a stuf?

Do you have another bar closed?

Speaker 2

I mean there's other bars in the area that was your spot.

People know people when people will say, like, we're hanging out with Derek, We're going to the Oakland Athletic Club.

So yeah, that's sucking.

Speaker 1

That doesn't come home.

They checked the floor of the club.

Speaker 2

Yeah no, So yeah, it's suck.

They got that news yesterday and uh yeah, I love that place.

Speaker 1

We'll always have Tuesdays and tay Man, that's that's actually that's.

Speaker 2

Really that's yeah.

Speaker 1

Speaker 2

I was bummed out to find out that.

Speaker 1

Thanks for the memories yea Athletic Club.

Yeah, I got a couple here.

Note to self, Uh, Millard Fillmore was the thirteenth president of the United States team, So I was I was pretty close.

I mean eleven, so he was right there and you were right the final wig A party candidate himself.

His birthday was January seventh, Tim, it's not Monday.

And then one more note to self, dude, Derek yawned during Tim slice, you did it on camera.

I know.

Speaker 2

I don't drink coffee.

I get tired.

It's it's not nothing against you.

Speaker 1

Tim four during Coach started work on Tuesday vacation thanks to our guest today Todd Hustack was creating and I got carry Crowley.
