The Peegs Postgame LIVE: Kansas State -- Nov. 26, 2025

Episode Transcript

Speaker 1

Hire you doing, everybody, I'm Ken Bankoff and welcome to the Peak's post game Live.

Indiana takes on Kansas State here at Simon Scott Assembly Hall and walks off the court eighty six to sixty nine winners in a game that is this is their second real test that they've had outside of Marquette, and Indiana got off to a strong start.

Let Kansas State kind of crawl back into it, but took over in the second half and did it in a different way than they did in the first half.

And that is really really important that Indiana is able to do it in multiple ways.

A one, two, three, nine, three, twenty six hundred is the number.

We're thrilled to be with you, and we already have our first call, so I'm excited.

I'm not going to make him wait too long.

Call her if I could have your name, where you're from, and what you got.

Speaker 2

They KB, This is Ryan Low from around Lake.

Speaker 1

How are you doing?

Ryan Hey?

Speaker 2

Doing great?

Reed Bailey tonight impressive, impressive well, And I.

Speaker 1

Didn't think he was very good in the I didn't think he was very good in the first half, but the second half he was fantastic.

In the second half.

Speaker 2

Yep, yep, caught balls.

Hey made free throws.

Ye made free throws.

My eyes were blinking on that.

Speaker 3

Man.

Speaker 2

That's that's good to see.

And I you big man, come through.

Speaker 1

You know.

Speaker 2

I was nervous about K State and I go back a couple of years when you know, when they had that magical run coach Tank's first year, you know, and they were in the Elite eight at at MSG and Marcus Newell and that team was was a special team, could really shoot the basketball.

And now it's worried about the Hoosiers a little bit coming into this.

Now, maybe this may be out of your repertoire of music, but there was a video before K State played those games at MSG and they were vibing to the little Babies low down.

Have you ever seen that video?

Speaker 1

I no, no, I haven't look it up.

Speaker 2

There's a hype song before.

So I got two questions.

Speaker 4

I got two questions for you.

Speaker 2

All right, this this current Hoosier team, If you had to pick a like, if coach de Reese's in the locker room playing the song getting the boys hyped up before the game?

Speaker 1

What what?

Speaker 5

What?

Speaker 2

What song do you think encapsulates this team?

Speaker 1

Ah?

Well, I don't know.

We're very early on six games into it.

I would where that's a tough one because I'm a music guy.

I like, I, you know, like all kinds of different kinds of music.

What would be the hype music for that?

I know they play for whom the bell tolls on the hype video before I you games.

I know that, and uh so, I mean there's that, but this is uh I feel like there'd be maybe some good country music in this uh this locker room, there's uh a lot of that.

So, uh, that's a good question.

Let's revisit that in December, because let's see more.

Let's see more of this team.

Speaker 2

I will call back Thanksgivings coming up here.

Yes, your your go to pie?

Because I bought a couple today.

I bought a sugar cream and bought a rhubarb.

So so in the the cup house, what's the go to pie?

One pie takes all?

Speaker 1

Uh, Well, for for the bike ops, we're gonna have pie.

I prefer cherry pie, but that is that to me is not a uh Thanksgiving pie.

I'm going some pumpkin pie.

Also some key line pie I get down with, but again not on Thanksgiving.

Rock Solid choice with the Pecan Pi though rock solid.

Speaker 2

Hey, you're the man.

I can't wait every every game man call back through.

Speaker 1

Well, we're gonna have a call in after the Bucket game on Friday and after the Batune Cookman game on Saturday.

So we got a busy weekend.

We got another caller caller for have your name where You're from?

And what you got.

Speaker 6

Hey, what's up?

Speaker 5

Ken?

Speaker 4

How you doing?

This is Larry up from Fort Wayne.

Speaker 1

How you doing real good?

Larry?

How you doing?

Speaker 4

I'm doing well?

Speaker 3

Man.

Speaker 4

Thanks for your show.

I appreciate you putting the time in late at night like this means a lot to a lot of people.

I just want to start out with saying, as I sit here near Thanksgiving Eve, I want to thank the Lord for coach Debrees.

I love sitting here talking on the call, talking about the ball in Assembly Hall, making a call to the one KB.

I hope my turkey won't be crunchy now as I say that.

And just I wanted to just ask you a couple of questions.

YEA one, did you watch Purdue the other night?

When you think about them.

Speaker 1

I haven't watched I have not watched Purdue.

Speaker 4

Now, Wow, they looked pretty good.

They looked pretty good.

Well, I guess that that will take away the rest.

Speaker 1

Of the conversation, and the reason I haven't I'm produce is not my concern right now.

How Purdue plays in November is irrelevant to how they play in January.

So a lot of times I won't start to concentrate on some of those teams until we get a little bit closer to the Big ten season.

I'm worried about I you and their job that they're doing in this this limited time that we've had to see them.

H And I'm impressed with what I saw tonight.

There were stretches when they weren't great, but there were some stretches when they were really, really good.

And I saw a lot of things that I really liked.

Speaker 4

Yeah, that's fair, that's fair.

What do you think about like, I mean, we look at dig Get coach Triple D Darien Dale defrees.

I think there's maybe a T shirt that someone could make with Triple D's and whatever.

But that's another thing.

But do you do you think that the ad should be get paid more?

I mean he's brought in some really under the radar guys, Like where's the support to get this guy some more money?

Speaker 1

Well, you know, uh, you mentioned the job that Dolson has done, and he's done an amazing job because he has you know, you think from the firing at Tom Allen, which was an expensive fireh to you know, moving out Mike Woodson.

I know Woodson resigned, but you know, we know he was even forced out and so being willing to make those moves is really really important.

But it's not enough to fire somebody.

You have to bring in somebody who's a real upgrade.

Aveley Sigg has been maybe the biggest home run higher arguably in college football history, considering where Indiana has been historically.

And to then just win twenty two of twenty three games to this point, or of twenty four games to this point, but and then to make the move on Woodson, pull the band aid off with that, do it in the way that they did so they can get a little bit of an early early rush on it, and you start to do those back channel things.

That's really really important.

And then to go ahead and get a guy that I think everybody universally believes has this thing at the very least early returns pointed in the right direction because everything about him is clicking with Indiana from and it's such a contrast of what it was before Scott Dolson.

When people get out of his way and let him do his job.

I think that he has done a fantastic job with his hires.

Speaker 4

One hundred percent.

And so you know, I have no say in the pay raises of people, but this is a guy who deserves a pay raise least point, and then I would get off and let somebody else fall in the game.

Tonight was really fun to watch.

I was watching with a high school coach up here in northeast Indiana, and he noticed how much harder people get back in transition, how they're getting on the floor, you know, just those little intangibles that really make a team a team versus Woody.

Do you think the average fan is picking up on how big of a bum what he was looking back in comparison, Not that he's a bad guy, but coaching wise, the guy just didn't get the most out of his players, like we're seeing with coach Triple D.

Speaker 1

I will say that I think that it's very clear the contrast and effort.

Let me put it that way, that you know this Indiana team is playing hard.

You see guys diving to the floor, You see them running back hard on defense.

You see Trent sistently hustling down to try to be the first one down to the other end of the floor.

You see guys diving on the floor.

And then when Kansas State has to call a timeout or wherever it is, here's Darren Devriez coming and you know, being energetic with his players and all of that.

And it's quite a contrast from what we saw where it just felt, especially last year that guys were playing for Indiana because Indiana cut him a check and you didn't have quite the same same kind of effort.

This feels a little bit different, even though Indiana has cut some big checks to a bunch of people.

Speaker 5

It is.

Speaker 1

It is just a different feel because there just feels like more energy, more hustle, and hustle really helped Indiana win this ball game.

Speaker 4

Yep, for sure.

Well, I you know Wood, he was here for a minute.

I was high on him at first, and by the end I wasn't.

But you know the what you see, you know the proofs of the pudding, I guess.

So anyway, thank you for your show.

We appreciate you, and have a great Thanksgiving.

Speaker 1

Thanks so much.

Happy Thanksgiving you too, brother.

Hey one two three nine three twenty six hundred is a number, got another caller waiting for us?

I appreciate it.

Caller, if you have your name, where you're from, and what you got.

Hi.

This is Joey.

Speaker 5

I'm from Hontington and I run a small news show up here.

But proud I you alumni and actually took coach Knight's coaching class when I was in school there, So I think I learned from the best, right.

Speaker 1

Ken, Oh absolutely, I have no question here.

Speaker 5

So when I walked the game from a coach's perspective, what I love the most about this team is it feels like we have multiple ways that we can win.

We can win at both ends of the floor.

We can win with shooting, we can win with defense, we can win with toughness, we can win inside outside.

Speaker 4

You know, I think.

Speaker 5

The weak spots that maybe I thought we had maybe aren't as weak as what I maybe thought they might be.

And I think credit goes to coach as far as roster construction goes that it seems like these guys fit together better than Indiana any in any Indiana team that we've had for the longest time.

Again, from from one coach to another, to meet a coach Devrees, I think it's kudos to him for you know, maybe not just establishing talent and writing checks, but also figuring out how they go together.

Speaker 1

Yeah, that that is a huge key there.

One of the the hallmarks of Tom Crane's early years, even when they were struggling.

He did a nice job of piecing together roster.

How do guys compliment one another?

Then after Cody and and that group, Indianda goes to number one.

He went after talent in a different way that it wasn't kind of constructing rosters.

He got back to that a little bit later.

I feel that what he never did that.

Archie didn't do that.

But Darren de Brees has done a great job of getting guys that are complimentary players that kind of play not the same style, but with the same attitude.

And so being able to build that means that you're gonna help your chemistry as well, and it convinces guys to stay and it will in the long run.

Obviously, this year a team had to be put together quickly, a lot of seniors.

But I really think that there's a lot of potential if Darren de Bries continue to build rosters and piece it together like the puzzle.

Speaker 5

So one other question, can it's something I've brought up a lot, don't.

I don't know if you'll remember or not, but I think back to when I was younger and I was watching the twenty eleven twenty twelve Indiana Hoosiers.

This is the year before their number one.

Oladipo hasn't come out of a shell yet, Cody's a freshman, and there weren't a lot of expectations, and they won a really big road game at North Carolina State.

Yes, and that game felt like a little bit of a turning point for that season where we all kind of said's.

Speaker 1

Teach and the players always credited that game.

Speaker 5

Awesome.

Yeah, And I looked at tonight's game, maybe not the same magnitude, right, but we just hit the top twenty five.

It's feast week.

A lot of people, a lot of eyes on this game.

I think, you know, a lot.

I think a lot of people said, you know, I have a good friend.

His name is Seth.

He's from Fort Wayne, and he said, if we're top twenty five in the country, the country, he's not that good.

And and I think there's a lot of eyes on this game.

And this was a convincing win with Tucker not doing so well and other guys stepping up to find a way to win, even in different spots in the game.

You made the point earlier, reed, Bailey wasn't that great in the first half, but then was just a machine in the second half, and yeah, I mean everybody kind of had a moment there where they had it.

And I wonder if you don't maybe see the same comparison to that North Carolina State game where we go, you know, we've been so excited about this team, but concerned is this a game like that where hey, this could propel us and I think as a fan base, we go, this team might be something.

Maybe we are twenty fifth, maybe we are a tournament team, maybe we are going to be big ten content.

What do you think about that?

Speaker 1

Well, it's a little bit different than the North Carolina State situation because the NC State situation was after a couple of years of struggle that that was very clearly a team that had fallen in those situations before.

If I remember correctly, they were they fell behind in North Carolina State and they rallied on the road and kind of all came together.

And so that was a turning point because it was a taste of success.

That was like the next step that that team had to take and uh and and and proof to itself that it was good.

This team, it's it's real early on.

Obviously, there isn't any of the baggage, maybe that some of the other that that team had faced because some of the there were veterans on that team that had gone through some struggles.

One thing that this game showed me and I uh talked to Rab Johnson, Trevor Andershock, you know, uh during the game about this is outside of Samlexus and Tucker Devreese, everybody else is kind of mid major guys.

That's how they they came up.

Paul obviously isn't considered mid major, but it's not cream and the crop as we're talking about Connor enright, But yeah, this is a team that there's a lot of guys.

I think that just because you put Indiana on their chest doesn't mean that they're they are automatically high major talent.

But what that also does is it gives you a bunch of guys who have come up through, uh through some of those mid majors, and they've obviously been very good there and now they're hungry to prove that they belong at this level.

And so you have a lot of guys that maybe were overlooked, maybe we're not, didn't have the the complete package of physical skills, and now they are very, very hungry to prove that they belong against Kansas State, against you know, big ten teams, and we've seen them turn up that intensity, especially on the defensive end at times.

This is a fundamentally sound team, and I think that when you put together the hunger that these guys have along with just playing to prove something, it really shows.

Speaker 5

All Right, Ken, Well, I appreciate your show.

I appreciate you taking my call.

I just had one more quick question to kind of parlay on the pumpkin tie Thanksgiving question.

Here's the question.

Is Thanksgiving at the Bike Off household?

Is it lunch or is it dinner?

Speaker 1

So it's not at the bike Off Household because I spend always spend time with my wife's family there.

My mother and father both past.

My sister lives in Minnesota.

So if we go up there, and I love my brother in law Kevin, sister in law Amy, we go up there, Ken, Yeah, and Kevin it's a fantastic guitar player.

So we go up there, and it is kind of it's not dinner because dinner to me is something after five thirty and that's not but any lunch either, it's usually right after the end of the first first football game.

So it's then that mid range three thirty four o'clock right in there.

Speaker 5

That is the sweet spot.

Speaker 4

I like that.

Speaker 5

At my household, it's attack.

At household, we call that lupper because it's halfway between lunch and supper.

Speaker 1

Well, and it gives you the opportunity to go ahead and have some drinks, go ahead and have dinner, watch some football, and at the end of the night throw together a turkey sandwich as well, and you still get to bet at a good time.

Speaker 5

I agree, and Ken, if you ever have time, I run a Hontingkon University postgame show from the Huntington Walmart.

It's on Facebook Huntington News.

Now you're my hero, and I appreciate what you do.

Thanks again for taking my call.

Speaker 1

Well, I appreciate it.

Thanks so much.

Speaker 5

Yep, bye bye.

Speaker 1

It one two three nine three, twenty six hundred is the number.

Got a couple of things here on the chat, says I'm gonna I'm getting sleepy.

You're gonna need to bring the energy.

I'm doing what I can.

I appreciate the calls.

Jay nine to three seven zero, says thoughts on Connor en Wright.

I get the idea hate on him.

I hate him on the other team, but love him on yours.

But I'm not sure as sure I even love him on ours.

Sometimes seems overly chippy bitches to the reps.

It is definitely delivering some cheap shots to opposing players tonight.

Not necessary and just not a good look.

I was thinking during the game, in the last game as well, that he's one of those guys that you're happy is on your team and that other teams hate and sometimes you need a scrapy guy like that, somebody who brings a lot of energy.

And in the post game, Taitt and Connor Away mentioned that en Wright's energy is something that he told him he's his favorite basketball player he's ever played with because he makes the game easy because he does that kind of stuff and then can get under people's skin.

So that is is kind of what his role is, and so that is end right.

He doesn't try to do too much on the floor.

I'll give him that.

I also tell you this, him and Lamar Wilkerson were one and two in the plus minus Wilkerson at twenty plus twenty six and right at plus twenty three.

He'll get under people's skin.

Maybe he does a little bit too much, but gotta give him credit because he's out there and he brings a ton of energy.

Eight one, two, three, nine three, twenty six hundred is the number as the leaf flowers start up on the cleanup here at Simon Scott Assembly Hall.

I'm gonna go ahead and I'm going to play.

At this point, Darren Devrees's postgame press conference, he had some interesting things to say along the way runs about seven minutes, So without any further ado, I'll go ahead and bring you comments from head coach Darren Devrees during his postgame press conference.

Speaker 6

Darren Taytan said, Connor's been talking about this matchup defensively for like three days in sort of his desire to go up against Haggarty.

You've been You've known him longer than anybody else in this room.

Has he always had that?

And how quickly do you think he realized that that kind of mentality can help set a tone for a team as well as scoring, rebounding, et cetera.

Speaker 7

Can Yeah, I said from the beginning, like he's so valuable to a team and that's all he cares about, Like he loves that challenge, Like he's been that way his whole life.

Just let me go guard him, let me dive on the floor, let me take charges, let me do all the scrappy things that impact winning.

And he doesn't care about scoring.

He can score, but he doesn't care.

He just wants to win.

That's all he's consumed with.

And that's why he's an ultimate team guy.

I love having him out there.

You can see why, you know, watching him tonight against a guy that wach you know, twenty eight points a game coming into it, he did an unbelievable job on him.

Speaker 1

Yeah, you maybe talk about that just a strategy about defending PJ.

What you kind of came in with.

The game plan was, and Connor obviously is part of that, but just the overall kind of game plan.

Speaker 7

Yeah, Connor had done it before.

He had done it when we were at Drake a couple of times.

So we had him when the shot went up.

We had him run to Haggardy on every shot so that we could jam him a little bit make or miss and not let him start their transition game.

So on makes they were still they're still really going to make.

They just get it to him.

He throws it up ahead, So it took away that outlet and then on missus as well, and now he wasn't the one that was going to be bringing it in transition.

It takes a lot of discipline to be able to do that every time, and I thought he was terrific at it.

The other part of it, the risk of it, too, is when you run one of your get back guys to a guy, now you're exposed on the back end if the other guys don't do their job.

So I thought collectively the group, really, you know, was able to execute that portion of the game plan tonight.

Speaker 8

Yeah, you guys shot seventy one percent today on twoes.

Was it kind of I know, you want to shoot threes, but in a matchup like this, was it kind of your intent to maybe try to test them off the balance, get to the rim, and also get to the line.

I mean read got to the line fifteen times.

Speaker 7

Yeah, we talked about that at halftime.

I thought the first half, I think we were little anxious on a few of the threes.

I mean, at one time I think we shot, you know, fifteen out of eighteen shots or something like that.

Speaker 1

It was.

Speaker 7

It was a lot, which which is fine.

We're more than fine with that.

But we thought we needed to get more pink touches in the second half, so we wanted to, you know, run a little bit more of our stuff where we got Tatan going downhill getting to the rim, and then then if we got some kickout threes, great, But we were able to kind of create a little bit of confusion with their switching, and I thought Tatan did a good job of capitalizing on that.

Speaker 9

On that stretch, I think you guys were up like twenty to four and then it dwindled like twenty two to twenty.

What did you see in that that kind of led on that run of theirs and then when you guys, I think it was thirty nine twenty seven and a half.

Just what kind of expanded that lead there?

Speaker 7

Yeah, I thought the start we did a really good job because they didn't get in transition.

We were scoring, which is part of it, and we didn't turn it over during that stretch.

We had a few maybe quicker shots than we would have liked it.

I thought we could have got a little better possession on and then some turnovers which led to broken floor opportunities, and that's where they're elaked.

You get them in the broken floor you're putting yourself in a big disadvantage.

Or during that little stretch, that's kind of what happened.

Didn't get conversions on offense, so now they're not taking it out of the net.

And then we had a few turnovers as well, So when you combine those two, they were playing with a broken floor every possession.

During that stretch, Reid had fourteen points second half.

Was that just a product of trying to get into the lane or was that kind of lighting a fire under him to.

Speaker 6

Be more aggressive.

Speaker 7

Yeah, I thought Reid really took the challenge of hey, there's some open space.

You know, they were pressed out pretty good, making some of our ball reversals a little tougher.

So we wanted, guys, hey, we're gonna we're gonna create a little more room for our drivers to go.

We we took read he still had a few We took him off the top of the floor and got him down in the corners and out in the wings a little bit, and then he would come and get it and and now there would be a little more space for him to go drive it.

But I thought, uh, you know, the six games we played, I thought, by far, especially in that second half.

This was the most aggressive he's been and that was that was the things that you know, excited about him as we saw him this summer and fall, as he was doing those things in practice, and tonight was the time I thought, you really got to see with some of the things he's capable of.

And it's hard when you're you're that size and you got that type of skill set and he can drive it with the speed and that he does.

Uh, it gives us some opportunities to create some mismatches.

Speaker 4

There was a point in that first half you called a time out and you looked like you were a little frustrated with Reid.

Speaker 5

Was there a point in the first half or a halftime where you challenged him specifically to be that aggressive in the second half?

Speaker 7

I think just normal coaching stuff, you know, just be more aggressive.

Speaker 2

So he did good job.

Speaker 3

Read Yeah, uh yeah, Darren with Trent Sisley twelve points tonight.

Just what does he do both offensively and defensively for you guys, specifically as a freshman though, to really excel in his role that's so rare in these days of college basketball.

Speaker 7

Yeah, what I love about Trent.

You know, he's a freshman and we have, you know, have Tate and Lamar and Tucker and you know Sam and Read.

He doesn't get really much plays run for him right now as a freshman, but man, he impacts the game like he just He'll fall into double digits, he'll fall into rebounds because he just he knows how to play.

He finds his role and he really you know, capitalizes on it, and a lot of it's just with effort plays.

I think he does a great job of that.

And he's long as you guys can see, and he gets out and runs and he just does a lot of things that hey, you're worried about all this and then all of a sudden translating it in or trench getting a rebound, and you know, he's he's just getting better and better and more confident.

You can see it in practice, and it's definitely carried over into his games.

You know, for a freshman, he's pretty poised out there for US.

Speaker 10

Kansas State got a couple offensive rebounds late in the game, but it was never really a factor throughout the game.

Speaker 8

Were you happy with the progress your guys made in that regard?

Speaker 7

Yeah, I thought our defensive rebounding was much much better.

They did get a couple of there, really, but outside of that, I thought the guys really did a good job of limiting them, you know, especially in the first half.

They didn't they didn't take as many threes and I can't remember how many they got up seven, So that's part of it too, when you don't have those long, long shots, long rebounds and guys are running in there.

So were able to keep guys in front of us a lot more because we could now we were in perfect you know, box out position as opposed to being in rotations where now you got to go find guys.

So still plenty of room for improvement.

But I thought, you know, we're taking some strides there.

Speaker 10

Coach following up on that rebound, and you had six different guys with four or more rebounds tonight.

So it was a team effort what led to that sporat, that spreading out of grabbing those boards, spirited practices.

Speaker 7

I think the guys did a did a good job of continuing to understand the things we got to improve on.

We we had that extra day in there, so were able to do a little bit more, you know, body on body type stuff.

So I think I think the guys embraced it.

I thought they did a good job collectively.

Again, we're gonna we got to continue to make that.

Our mindset every night is we got a defensive rebound if if we're going to be good and and I think the guys they get that.

I think they've seen it enough now that you know, we just got to continue to improve and improve and make it a priority.

Thank you all.

Speaker 1

So there is Darren Debrees and his postgame press conferences and again his press conferences.

Uh uh, there's such a breath of fresh air to hear him talk and have, you know, personality and just his analysis of the games and being so clear in what they were wanting to do.

I think is incredibly important.

Eight one, two, three, nine, three, twenty six hundred is the number.

Lines are open.

I know we are at eleven thirty on a Tuesday, but I want to talk to some Kansas State to talk about some individual performances in this game, starting with Reed Bailey, who, again, like I said, I didn't think he was very good in the first half seven points on one of four shooting, He had one rebound to assist, three turnovers in thirteen minutes.

He wasn't very good.

Second half was a different situation.

Fourteen points, three of three, shooting eight of nine from the free throw line.

He added three rebounds, didn't have a turnover, played sixteen minutes and was a big reason why Indiana, you know, rolled to the win.

He turned things around, and I just am really impressed with the way that he was able to do that.

Again, it's Kansas State.

Now, Kansas State isn't the biggest team around.

That's part of the reason why I think Indiana was as successful as they were.

I'm interested to see what happens when you play some teams with a lot more size.

But Reed Bailey, the fact that he was able to turn his night around at halftime really says something about just his his mental toughness.

Essentially.

Ceayton Connorway nineteen points on seven of four shoots at fourteen shooting two of seven from three point range.

Indiana, by the way, shot thirty three at times from the three point line, knockdown just ten of them, but a bunch of those came early on, and so that was that was really important.

Connorway again two to seven from three point range, three or four from the free throw line.

He has four rebounds, two assists seven turnovers, which is obviously a ton of them, but it was kind of funny after his he went through his press conference, he joke, He's like, hey, thanks for not asking me about them turnovers.

So at least they acknowledged it, and that is also good to see something you could joke around about when you score a seventeen point win, but into something to mention.

He played twenty six minutes.

He had nine points from Tucker Devrees on four of eleven, shooting one of six from three point range.

He added six rebounds and five assists and two blocks in a steal.

He was plus twenty one on the night.

The fact that Debris only scored nine points, did not shoot the ball well, and Indiana still rolled to a big win.

I think really just says something about the balance on this team.

And I'm impressed by the balance that Indiana has shown in being able to win different ways.

Indiana won the first half by knocking down threes.

They won the second half by getting the job done at the rim, scoring two points at a time instead of three, and doing it in different ways, letting it come from different places.

I think that that is really important.

You had Hunter Enwright seven points on two of five shooting.

Both of those shots came from three point range.

All the shots, I guess came from a three point range, both makes.

He had six rebounds and three assists versus just one turnover.

He was plus twenty three on the night.

And again en Right, he really does an incredible job of doing the dirty work.

And he ain't the most athletic guy.

He ain't the quickest guy.

Yeah, he is irritating, but sometimes that could be a real positive thing.

You do the little things on the floor, it makes a big difference.

What Enright reminds me of is now I you radio color play by play color guy Eric Sewer or Daniel Moore if you remember him, dirty work guy, not looking for a lot for himself.

He's willing to do it.

But he's the charge guy.

He's the guy that's the irritant.

Give him a lot of credit for the time that he puts in.

Shows a lot of toughness.

Brent Sisley, let's talk about him.

Off the bench.

Twelve points, five of eight shooting, one of three from three point range, one of two from the free throw line, five rebounds, led the Hoosiers with three offensive boards, one turnover.

Played twenty one minutes.

He was plus fifteen.

That kid made a difference today, and you heard Darren Debries talk about that a little bit.

He is a kid that plays hard effort.

You see effort.

He's trying to be the first guy down the floor going on the other end.

You love to see that, especially in a freshman.

He's willing to go ahead and turn in that dirty work.

Now in the future he'll be more of a guy who is featured, but right now he is that guy that is is just doing what needs to be done to win ballgames.

You have a guy that's buying in at that level at that age.

It provides a real nice foundation piece for your program.

Nick Norn one point on zero three shooting, played just eleven minutes.

He was minus five as he continues to kind of get his just work into the rotation.

Got to talk about Sam Alexis ten points four files and that's a shame, not ten points three points.

He had two rebounds, one assists, a block of the steel.

Played just ten minutes, limited by files.

You want to avoid that, but it was also plus seventeen in those ten minutes.

You want to talk about a guy who impacted the game.

Sam Alexis was a big part of that.

Josi Miles, he plays just two minutes, manages to be minus ten on the game.

Had a couple of walk ons came in late.

By the way, Indiana with a seventeen point victory eighty six sixty nine.

They did not score in the last two minutes of the game, and Kansas State scored six points in the last forty five seconds.

So what we're really talking about here is a twenty point victory.

Indiana with thirty two points in the paint, twenty seven of them off of turnovers by Kansas State.

Indiana turned Case State over nineteen times.

Hoosiers had seventeen of them again, seven of them coming from Connorway.

But what I thought was really interesting was Indiana is a three point shooting team.

Thirty three three point attempts in the game.

Twenty two of those came in the first half.

In the second half, they didn't try to force it, they didn't try to jack up shots just because that's what they had been doing.

They adjusted on the fly and that made a huge difference because they changed the way they played.

The three suddenly weren't going down and so you have to adjust how you play.

They started going to the basket and that's how conter Way was getting to the line.

Bailey obviously fifteen trips to the free throw line.

That's a lot.

And Indiana scores forty seven points in the second half.

Eight one, two, three, nine three.

Twenty six hundred is the number.

I appreciate the people that are are still watching and staying up late with me here on a Tuesday night.

Again, reminder that we are going to have a postgame show following the Bucket game on Friday.

Then on Saturday afternoon, I'll be right back here, probably right in this very seat, doing the call in after the Bethune Cookman game.

So yeah, Bethune Cookman is a several steps below where Kandas State is.

But we also saw what Indiana did against Incarnate were Lynn Lynn Wood.

They have to be able to bring it every time out.

Indiana jumped out to a twenty to four lead in this thing and allowed K State to get to kind of crawl back into it, but they never panicked.

They kept up the pressure and ended up walking off with a seventeen point victory.

And so that that is something that is very, very impressive for the Hoosiers.

Indiana's defense was impressive as well.

In the second half, Kansas State shot forty eight and a half percent, but for the game, kse State was at forty two point one percent.

The Hoosiers out rebounded Kansas and the Wildcats and did a very nice job of this, harassing Kansas State all game.

This is a team that came in averaging I think of his ninety two or ninety three points a game.

Indiana hold him to just twenty seven in the first half and they score just sixty nine on the game in the first half.

Let's see Indiana, I'm sorry, Cantas State eight of twenty four from the field in the first half.

That's pretty damn good.

That's gonna get you where you need to go.

And the fact that Indiana was able to win both halves as well, despite one of their leading guys, Tucker DeVries, not putting up huge numbers is important.

Lamar Wilkerson had a quiet fourteen.

I was really surprised when I noticed over that, but he had knocked down some threes that made a big difference.

But it was eight points in the first half.

Six points in the second half.

Didn't have a one where he started piling them on, but boy, being able to handle that, I think is is really important.

Indiana also, they were looking at the stats, they're fourteen of eighteen on layups.

Now, why is that important?

Because we have seen Indiana miss some bunnies in previous years and the simple fact that Indiana was as effective as they were around the rim and converting those opportunities when they got them was a huge deal for this team, just absolutely massive, and it was really important that the Hoosiahs were able to close it out like that.

He won two, three, nine, three, twenty six hundred is the number fun night here at Simon's got Assembly Hall.

The upper balconies weren't full because I assume it's Tuesday.

Students aren't here, and so it's a little bit of a different vibe I give Indiana fans who were here were very loud, very loud, and I think this is the first time that Darren Debries kind of got hint of what this place can be, and so being able to see what it's like here, I think is really a huge positive.

And he's gonna see how this place jumps can promise you that people are falling in love with this team and falling in love with the way that they play.

Again, it's hustle.

It is generally not doing stupid things with the ball.

They do.

Every team's gonna do it.

But this is a big one to get.

This was a big one to get.

Now you got Bethune Cookman, you do have Louisville coming up on December sixth, in a day that could be really really a big day with the potential for a big ten title game appearance by Indiana in Indianapolis, but should be a very very fun day.

I know that the feeling at the when it comes to this team, it's just it's just different.

It's nice to see this team doing being as effective as they are in scoring points.

The other thing that is is impressive is the energy Indiana came out with was much higher than what it has been in recent games against Incarnate Wood again Linwood.

That that to me is is really important.

They have to find consistency there and that is h is going to be a key.

But an eighty six to sixty nine win sure does make Indiana feel good.

Their first game under Darren DeVries they've played while they are ranked, and they showed out they showed out big time.

Last call for phone calls.

Then I'm gonna let you guys get off to bed because love love to hear from you.

Lines are open.

Been on the air for forty five minutes.

As we head towards midnight on a Tuesday night, I want to mention something else that I think is really nice.

This year, the game day experience here at Simon Scott Assembly Hall has changed in that there is less band, more crowd participation, things, more energy, things.

Look.

I love the band.

The bands are part of the fun of college basketball.

There have been times in the past when I think that the band, for as much as it's fun to hear them play, that it doesn't necessarily juice the crowd as much as you want.

Indiana has added a lot of different elements to the game day experience that I think is going to pay off.

Whether it's the Bison starting the game by getting the two sides of Assembly Hall to chant I and you and get things going.

They do a thing where they show a clip from the movie Hoosiers that really gets the crowd going, and it's just more DJ music than band music.

The band is still there.

The band is still part of things, but it's it feels like a better balance and it's helping bring up energy and is going to, i think, really help modernize Assembly Hall, modernize the game day experience, and also make it so that the fans just stay more energized.

I'm really excited to see what it looks like during Big ten games when there's the students and the place is packed and the place is rocking.

Looks like we're headed towards a bunch of stuff.

None of that.

This isn't all going to be smooth.

There will be hiccups along the way, but boy, early returns sure are encouraging for this.

Hoosia Ball Club eighty nine sixty nine eighty six sixty nine is your final from Simon Scott.

Assembly Hall, Indiana puts together a very very nice game against a quality team and they stay undefeated and that's fun to see again.

Looking forward to talking to you after the Bucket game Friday night, talking to you after the Bathune Cookman game on Saturday.
