This is The Launch episode 50 for 01/13/2026.
Streaming from the beautiful Pacific Northwest and the mighty American West Coast, we greet you all a good morning, a good evening, or whenever your timeline may fall, time appropriate greetings indeed to one and all.
This is The Launch, and my name is Chris.
And I'm Angela.
Hello, Angela.
Here's a few things for everybody to know before we get a going.
We'd love it if you call us.
You can do it now or after the fact, leave us a voice mail.
Why not?
The phone's fun again.
(774) 462-5667.
That's (774) 462-5667.
Did you know the show's live on a Tuesday, and you can make it a vibe?
11:30AM Pacific, 02:30PM eastern, 07:30PM UTC at jblive.tv or your podcast app of choice.
Comes out on a Wednesday over at weeklylaunch.rocks.
There's an RSS feed.
You probably know about that.
We got a live mobile room with some folks in the quiet listening right now to get that low latency Opus stream.
And, of course, we love it when you boost the show.
We'll be including that later on.
So that's I think that's that's what everybody needs to know, Andrews.
Yep.
But I think maybe we could take this moment in the show to ask people if they've seen any good shows lately.
Mhmm.
Have you finished any good shows recently?
Yeah.
I actually finished Stranger Things.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
And it's interesting because with each release that they did, I had to dodge spoilers Yes.
Constantly.
Yes.
Yes.
So thankfully, I watched the final episode early enough before the spoilers.
Like the next day, that's when all I saw all the spoilers.
So yeah.
And Good job.
That can be tricky, especially with social media and stuff.
I know.
And I didn't I didn't quite get sucked into the there might there might be another episode thing.
Did you hear about that?
It crashed all the Yeah.
Platforms Yeah.
Because everybody thought one was gonna be released.
That's some hype.
That is some definite hype.
Yeah.
I know.
Especially when I don't even watch the show and I kind of caught wind of it.
Mhmm.
Right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
And then I still need to finish silo.
Oh, yeah.
I finished rereading the books like a month or so ago, but haven't even seen season two yet.
Yeah.
I'm still I'm I'm gonna watch it, but I'm preparing myself for an event this week.
It is not a good event.
It's not something I'm happy to see as a lifetime Star Trek fan, but on Thursday, Starfleet Academy Caleb.
Comes out.
Have you seen this yet?
What's that one?
Well, we you mentioned it.
We had a conversation about When we have our own shit.
How they're all gonna be making mistakes cause they're young.
They're all bunch of noobs.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Are there any original characters?
The doctor from Voyager is in here.
Oh, that's cool.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Hopefully.
Hopefully, they don't rub them.
You know, like it could be that too.
It looks pretty.
I'll owe you something.
So I'm gonna give it a go.
Mhmm.
I'm gonna start that this week with Okay.
Wes and Brent.
We're gonna do a watch along.
Oh, nice.
Is that gonna be live?
No.
Are you gonna record it and then release it?
I thought about that after the fact.
Would that be something just between the three of Yeah.
Oh.
But then I thought, would that be something people would want to listen to?
I don't know.
Mhmm.
I'm sitting there riffing on it live because you know Right.
I gonna was gonna say, don't know.
It might be kinda annoying.
They're and they're up against so here's my theory is I think movies have been kind of in this sort of blah phase where everything looks plastic and fake and dumb for about a decade.
Mhmm.
And this isn't like an I was reading about this.
This is not an unusual phenomenon for Hollywood to go through sort of these phases of bad movies.
Kinda happened in the eighties for a bit.
Not all movies in the eighties are bad, but there was a there was a whole bunch of bad movies in the eighties and the late seventies.
And And then the nineties, they got really good for a while, most of them.
And I think now what we're seeing with streaming platforms having all of the capital is the really good stuff is in streaming TV shows.
And Starfleet Academy is just not gonna hold up to some of this stuff.
I just and this is gonna be my recommendation because I'm not recommending Starfleet Academy.
I'm gonna recommend I think you'd like it too is is Plurbus, which I just finished season one.
Good morning, Carol.
Is there anything we could do to cheer you up?
Where you are, fearmestones.
So she's sort of like the grumpiest person in the world, and they're trying to make her happy here.
Hey, girl.
Oh, we're related.
We just want you to be happy.
Can I ask you a question?
Certainly.
What would you like to know?
How do I reverse all this?
And the reveal's pretty good, so I don't wanna say too much.
And I think as you stick with it, the idea of the show gets stronger and stronger as the show goes on.
Okay.
That wasn't a lot to go off of.
So it's just about making this lady happy?
No.
I just don't wanna say too much because the concept is cool enough.
I get it.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
I think she just won best best actress, like last night.
Is there only one season out?
Yes.
Yes.
And they're working on season two?
Yes.
It's signed?
But like what does that even mean?
2027?
Probably.
I hate that so much.
Yeah.
I hate that so much.
Alright.
I'll check back in a year.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Watch season one before season two comes out.
It's really the trick.
Alright.
So what are you watching?
Let us know.
And what do you recommend?
Now that I'm, gonna need something to reset the palette from Starfleet Academy, I wanna know what you suggest.
So you could support the show with a boost.
We kinda had a light week this week, so it'd be great time to support us.
Send one in.
Let us know.
Okay, Andrews.
So this week, I thought for fun, because it is episode 50, should celebrate a little bit.
We would do a test of knowledge episode.
So you've been into sewing for, you know, almost going on eighteen years.
Mhmm.
And I have been full timing in Lady Jupes for over a decade now.
Yeah.
Crazy.
Crazy.
Mhmm.
So we're gonna play a million style a millionaire style game to see who knows the most about each other's hobby.
Yeah.
So I you're gonna quiz me about sewing, and I'm gonna quiz you about RV.
So the thing is Yeah.
I sewed when we were still married.
Yeah.
That's right.
You got the RV after our divorce.
So That's true.
And To be fair though, I know nothing about sewing.
And I feel like a lot of the RV terms, which I do not know what the questions are.
Oh, you don't?
No.
Oh.
Yeah.
So it's it's totally random to me too.
So I don't know Wait.
Did you have AI do it?
Of course.
Nice.
I had something to do this for me.
Alright.
But so but I think a lot of the RV terms that I can think of Mhmm.
Are common sense, like, kind of camping or camping adjacent terms.
Black tank.
Yeah.
See?
You know?
So, like, I don't even have black tank when it comes to sewing.
So I think I am screwed.
But I thought, you know, we'll see how we do.
Each correct answer moves up the money ladder and then one wrong answer and you're That sucks.
I'm gonna lose probably on the first I'm probably gonna lose on the first time.
I don't know.
I oh, boy.
I tell you what.
Alright.
So can you see the screen over there?
Yes.
Alright.
So I'm going first.
K.
Would you like to ask me the first question?
Alright.
For a $100, apparently.
Mhmm.
What tool is used to cut fabric cleanly before sewing?
Is it a, a seam ripper, b, a rotary cutter, c, a thimble, or d, fabric vibes?
Yeah.
There usually there'll be like one Yeah.
There'll be like one funny one in there.
Okay.
So I know it's not thimble.
So I guess I did know a sewing term because I know it's not thimble.
Good.
Used to cut fabric cleanly.
Well, seam ripper doesn't seem like it would do something.
A ripper doesn't seem like a bead.
Right.
So I'm gonna go So easy.
B rotary cutter.
Correct.
Alright?
So Yes.
That's submitting.
And you say I'm already correct, so I'm going for it.
Turns out, I know sewing stuff.
Okay.
Alright.
I got it.
It is.
So I got a $100.
Alright.
K.
You ready for the next question?
Go ahead.
I see.
I thought it was a realer.
I got it.
Okay.
Alright.
This is for $200.
Okay.
What does hemming mean?
A, sewing two pieces of fabric together, b, folding and stitching an edge to prevent fraying, c, making pants shorter emotionally, d, washing fabric aggressively.
Okay.
So I don't think it's c or d, hemming.
Sewing two pieces of fabric together or folding a stitch in an edge to prevent fraying.
Well, I think I've heard the term I'm gonna hem that up.
Mhmm.
Crap.
I really don't know.
It could be b or a in my mind.
Yep.
Folding and stitching in the edge to prevent fraying.
I can't believe I'm gonna blow it at the $200 question already.
You're gonna do so much better than me.
I don't know.
I I also I included no lifelines, and now I'm really was gonna say, do you wanna phone a friend?
I don't I didn't I said no lifelines, and I should have at least done remove one, although I probably removed one of the junk ones.
Yeah.
Oh, shoot.
I really don't know.
I sewing two pieces of fabric together or folding and stitching an edge to be frank.
Damn it.
I kinda wanna say a, but for some reason, I think my gut is wrong on this one.
You know?
Like, my gut answer is a, but then, like, I have a gut doubt of my gut answer.
Mhmm.
I'm gonna say a.
No.
Because that wouldn't be hemi.
That'd be stitching together.
Why wouldn't you just call that stitching together?
So I think I'm gonna say b.
I think I'm gonna say b.
Why is atypical colonel putting the answer in chat?
Oh, don't worry.
I don't have the chat up, so I can't Oh, okay.
You locked in.
Okay.
Here we go.
Here we go.
Oh, I got it.
Yes.
My god.
Think about it.
Hem of your pants, hem of your shirt, like you don't see the fraying.
Right.
Right?
That's it is it's stitching Oh my god.
The existing fabric.
I mean, I guess you could have a second fabric in there.
Okay.
Alright.
So give me the 300.
The $300 question.
Which stitch is most commonly used for basic sewing?
A, straight stitch, b, zigzag stitch, c, friendship stitch, or d, whatever the machine feels like today.
That would be mine.
Yeah.
Woah.
I'm gonna say the straight stitch is probably actually a challenging stitch.
I feel like if I were beginning, a zigzag would almost be an easier pattern because I could just zig and zag.
Alright.
I'm gonna say b.
Nope.
Oh, no.
Really?
Nope.
Oh.
Because so the zigzag stitch is reserved for stretchy fabrics.
And if you're if you're doing a basic sewing project, you're not messing with stretchy fabrics.
Cotton, straight.
Okay.
Alright.
So I'm gonna tell we're gonna switch to Angela's round, and, we're gonna go again.
Are you ready?
How are you feeling about this?
Okay.
So I'll Now you're gonna ask them.
I'll read them to you.
Yeah.
Here we go.
Alright.
Can I look at them too?
Yeah.
You can read them too.
So here we go for the I'll bring it up.
For the $100 question, Andrews, what does boondocking mean in RV life?
Parking illegally but confidently, a.
B, camping without hookups.
C, camping near boats.
D, extreme RV parkour.
Okay.
So obviously, it's not d.
Yeah.
I do like camping near boats Yeah.
Because it's, picking up on the docking.
Right.
But that's not accurate.
Alright.
Camping without hookups?
That seems logical.
K.
I have heard you say we're boondocking boondocking on the, like, the ocean the waterfront, you know, or what is it called?
Yeah.
Waterfront.
The Coast.
That's what I was trying to say.
Yeah.
The Coast.
Boondocking at Walmart.
Walmart doesn't have hookups.
Parking illegally but confidently is hilarious.
So I know that Walmart does allow boondocking typically and other places, So it's gotta be b.
Okay.
Let's see.
I think you're, I think you're feeling pretty confident there.
I know.
Here we go.
Yeah.
You got it.
Woo hoo.
Yeah.
You got it.
That's right.
That's right.
Camping without hookups.
That's a good good question, though.
Yeah.
And it can be a great way to RV for on the cheap.
Alright.
Are you ready for your next question?
Yes.
What is a class a RV?
Oh, man.
A fancy trailer, trailer, a van with opinions Uh-huh.
A bus style motorhome, whatever cost the most.
Oh, okay.
I expected this to be, like, the difference between a, b, c, and and the other I don't even know.
I've heard Dylan rattle off about it, and I'm like, why?
Why is there capacity in your brain for this?
Alright.
So Fancy trailer, a van with opinions.
I mean, technically, is a fancy trailer.
Yeah.
Right?
A van with opinions.
Could be that too.
Brent might have something to say about that.
Yep.
Whatever costs the most?
Okay.
Well, I feel like this one is pretty easy.
It's definitely c, a bus style motor home.
Alright.
We will tell the computer option c, locking that in.
It's kinda weird to describe it as that, though.
Yeah.
You got it right.
You got it right.
Alright.
We're tied.
$300.
So responsibility.
You are technically crushing it.
Here we go for the next big one.
$300.
Electrical power when an RV is not plugged in to shore power?
A, shore power.
Oh.
B, the generator.
C, the sun's goodwill.
Or d, hope.
I mean So when you asked AI to make this list, were you like, make engines super easy?
I told you it'd be easier.
Alright.
I told you.
So it's funny.
Not plugged into shore power.
Shore power still works when you're not plugged into it.
That would be cool.
Yeah.
Yeah.
The sun's goodwill.
I mean, you do have some solar panels.
And it it does need to you do need some sunshine for And and you do hope for that.
Right?
So Hope.
So it's definitely bee Alright.
I almost got you while you're drinking.
That's funny.
Bee generator.
Alright.
Submit it to the machine.
We say bee and locking that in right now.
Yeah.
You got it right.
Woo hoo.
Alright.
Alright.
I doubled my money.
500 now.
For $500.
Here we go or whatever.
K.
What is shore power?
Oh, dang it.
Electricity generated by solar panels, plugging into campground electricity, power harvested from the ocean breeze, or coastal only voltage.
Okay.
Yeah.
I know it's not coastal only because you've you've mentioned it while you're not anywhere near water.
So it's not d.
It's not power harvested from the ocean breezes.
That's hilarious, though.
That'd be nice.
Mhmm.
So, wind power, you know?
So not c.
So I'm having a hard time between electricity generated by solar panels and plugging into campground electricity.
Right.
Because It has a very boat sound to it.
Sure.
Right?
Like Yeah.
But it's not I'm I'm I'm yeah.
You're probably safe to say it's not coastal only, and it's not harvested from ocean breezes.
Right.
But is it just campground campground electricity?
Or is it it's gotta be your stored energy, that you have gathered.
It but I can't imagine it being limited to only solar panels.
I think I have to go with a, though.
Okay.
Am I wrong?
Alright.
You ready for you?
Dang it.
You locking it in?
Yeah.
I don't feel confident.
Alright.
Submitting to the machine, and survey says Oh.
Man, it is campground?
Yeah.
I I could have sworn that you've mentioned shore power when not at a campground.
Yeah.
So I think it comes from the term when boats would come to shore, they would plug in at the dock, and they would generate so they wouldn't generate energy from their motors.
But Darn it.
Yeah.
You got farther than I did.
$300.
Yeah.
That's pretty good.
600.
Oh, okay.
100, 200, and 300.
Okay.
Oh, I guess so.
Yeah.
You're right because I yeah.
And then it jumped to 500.
So there you have it.
You have it.
Do you wanna do any more, or are you good?
You wanna That was fun.
Yeah.
You wanna do a redemption run?
We could try different questions.
You wanna try that again?
Sure.
Alright.
New questions machine.
Because it's kinda fun.
It's fun.
And we'll see.
I bet it could cook us up a few more questions.
Let's have it do it on the fly.
Let's do it again.
Alright.
Oh, you're so lucky.
Why?
I guess this is the $100 question, but this is for $100.
Which tank in an RV holds water used for sinks and showers?
Oh.
Fresh tank, gray tank, black tank, tank.
Oh, actually, this isn't that easy.
I know it's not fresh tank or mystery tank.
I love the idea of mystery tank.
Yeah.
Could you imagine if that was an RV term?
Oh, yeah.
Just dump your mystery tank.
Yeah.
So I don't think it's black tank because I think that's for sewage.
K.
So it's gotta be gray tank.
B.
Alright.
Final answer?
Yep.
Alright.
Submitting to the machine for b.
Final answer.
Angela is locking it in.
Yay.
Yeah.
You got that right.
Alright.
Yeah.
You got that right.
You're gonna do another round of sewing stuff.
No.
Oh.
That's embarrassing.
Oh, yeah?
Alright.
Okay.
Here we go.
This one is a little more nuanced.
What does dry camping usually mean in RV terms?
Camping in a desert, no water on board, no hook hookups of any kind, only camping in summer.
Wow.
Yeah.
I really have no idea.
I know it's not camping in the desert.
Yeah.
And I know it's no water on board because that's dumb.
But it's gotta be no hookups of any kind.
Okay.
See?
Final answer?
Final answer.
Alright.
Submitting to the machine.
Yeah.
You got it right.
Alright.
Here you go.
Alright.
What is the primary job of an inverter in an RV?
Does it charge the batteries?
Does it convert DC battery power into AC power?
Does it convert AC shore power into DC, or does it prevent an electrical regret?
Okay.
Brent would know about that.
Electrical regret, especially when charging batteries.
Okay.
So it's not d and it's inverter.
It's I don't think it's a.
I don't think it's recharging.
I don't know anything about power.
And I hate that it did the opposites here.
So it's either DC battery power to AC power or AC shore power into DC.
I have no idea which which direction that goes.
So this is a complete stab in the dark.
I'm guessing that it is I the our I feel like both of those are used.
Yes.
They are they are things that are in an RV.
That is true.
What is the job in an RV?
Yeah.
What does the inverter do in an RV?
Well, then it's gotta be b because shore power would be from a campground, as I learned today.
Mhmm.
So you wouldn't always have shore power.
Well okay.
I'm gonna have to go with b.
Okay.
It's a total guess.
Locking it in?
Yes.
Final answer.
Alright.
Submitting to the machine.
You got it.
Yes.
Yeah.
Got it.
Good job.
Yeah.
You're you are inverting from AC, is at shore, which our houses are, like AC plugs.
And then you're you're inverting from AC.
No.
Oh.
And you're going to DC, which is like what's in cars.
But it says convert DC battery power into AC power.
Yeah.
Oh.
It's the same thing.
It's like instead of coming from the shore, it's coming from It's just op it's just.
Because the so like your fridge might run on like an electrical outlet in a household, but your batteries are 12 volt.
So it'll invert it into AC.
Sort of.
Okay.
Yeah.
Because that's what a lot of that.
Alright.
That was a good one.
That was a that was Forgetting it.
That was a legitimately tricky one.
Yeah.
It was.
Alright.
I think you're gonna I think you're gonna be fine on this one.
For $500, which tank in the RV holds waste from the toilet?
The gray tank, the fresh tank, the black tank, or the forbidden tank?
Yeah.
The mystery tank and the forbidden tank.
That's those are yeah.
Alright.
So it's c, the black tank.
Yeah.
Okay.
Think I had a feeling.
You know you knew that one before we started.
So I'm gonna say, yeah, you got that one right.
You're doing you're cooking now.
You're moving.
Yep.
Alright.
Alright.
Here we go.
Here's the next question now for a thousand dollars.
What is the main reason RVers pay close attention to their battery's amp hour capacity?
To determine its top driving speed.
To measure how long you can run electrical devices.
It affects tire pressure.
It controls the propane flow.
A, B, C, or D.
Okay.
I think I can eliminate the last two.
I don't think it controls propane flow.
You even have propane in the arm?
Mhmm.
Mhmm.
It does not affect tire pressure.
It's a battery.
So it's gotta be b Alright.
To measure how long you can run electrical devices.
Final answer.
Final answer.
Alright.
Here we go.
I like the confidence in that one.
Locking it in.
Alright.
You got it again.
How many are there?
That it?
You get to a million.
Oh.
But, you know, they get harder.
They get sequentially harder.
Alright.
So that's the problem.
Okay.
Which appliances typically draw the most power in an RV?
Interior lights, the water pump, the air conditioner, or the refrigerator?
I mean, does it know that you have a full size refrigerator in there?
Yeah.
Could yeah.
That that is a yeah.
I guess these are on average.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
So I don't think it's refrigerator or interior lights.
The water pump is interesting.
I don't know much about engines, but I imagine the water pump is working pretty hard.
And the air conditioner is optional.
Right?
Mhmm.
But you run it a lot.
Mhmm.
Definitely in the summer.
So I think it's gotta be b water pump.
B water pump.
Alright.
Final answer?
Final answer.
Oh.
What?
Oh, come on.
Yeah.
It's the air conditioner.
But that's optional.
Yeah.
I guess most reefs probably have it.
You can't optional your water pump.
That's true.
Let's, alright.
Let's do Chris again.
New questions, and then, that'll be the last last round.
Okay.
Boy, you did pretty good, though.
You got even further this time.
There's no way I have that chance at all.
And here we go.
Get me off.
Alright.
For a $100, what tool is primarily used to remove stitches if you make a mistake?
A, a thimble, b, rotary cutter, c, seam ripper, or d, button poker?
I guess I just realized I don't really know what a thimble is.
Yeah.
I was gonna ask you the first time it came up.
I kinda thought it was like something like you poke things with, like you poked into, but no, of course it's not that.
Button poker feels too purpose built or maybe even folk.
I mean, fake.
A seam ripper doesn't remove oh, stitches if you make I'm gonna say it's either a rotary cutter or steam ripper or seam ripper steam ripper.
But I'm not confident at all.
Already at the $100.
God dang.
I'm not confident.
But if I had done do something, I would probably rip it.
Mhmm.
So I'm gonna say seam ripper.
K.
Alright.
I'm locking it in.
Here we go.
Codex.
Oh, really?
Yes.
Oh.
Yeah.
Because the rotary cutter was to cut fabrics.
So I wasn't yeah.
Okay.
Alright.
Yeah.
Well, I was gonna define what a thimble is, but maybe that's the next question.
So alright.
For $200, what does the term right sides together mean when sewing?
A, the fabric's edges are aligned.
B, the nice looking sides of the fabric face each other.
C, the seams are are sewn on the outside.
Or d, the fabric agrees with you.
I don't think it's d.
K.
The nice are the right sides.
Right sides together.
I think it might be b, nice looking sides of the fabric face each other, or it's a, the fabric edges are aligned.
Maybe it's a.
Maybe it's a.
You know, because you want the right sides together.
Oh, jeez.
The seams are sewn on the outside.
I don't think it's that one.
So I don't think it's c or d.
K.
So I'm kind of narrowing it down to a or b.
The fabric's edges are aligned, or the nice looking sides of the fabric face each other.
It kinda feels like a and b are the same thing a little bit.
You need to pick an answer.
I know.
I know.
I I guess I'm gonna go I'm gonna go with a, but I don't I don't feel good about it.
I don't feel good about it.
Alright.
I'm assuming a shouldn't feel good about it.
No?
Wrong answer?
Wrong answer.
Oh, I suck.
I know I'd suck at this so bad.
The right sides together mean you're sewing with the good sides touching.
Well Yes.
See the reason why I didn't go with that is because I felt like it's too arbitrary.
The stitch is not visible when you open it up.
I mean, makes sense.
Yeah.
That makes sense, but it felt like there was too much opinion in there.
Alright.
There you have it.
I think you definitely you definitely won this round, Anders.
Good job.
I won the first round too.
Yeah.
I know.
Know.
That's what I mean.
Oh, okay.
Oh, okay.
I did not.
There you go.
Now, I'd like to know how you did if you were playing along at home, if you have any other ideas for tests of knowledge.
Mhmm.
Okay.
So that was horrible.
So I gotta shake it off.
I gotta reset.
It's time for our track of the week.
Well, I'm just gonna make a quick call to my lunch.
I haven't checked in since yesterday.
(774) 462-5667.
That's it.
Alright.
(774) 462-5667.
Call now.
Yeah.
Why not call us while this track plays?
Great time to call the show.
When you hear the music, you call the show.
And then don't forget, the artists love it when you boost them.
They're putting this music out there.
It's value for value, and it means we can play it in our podcast, which is just incredible.
Now's the time.
It's the song of the week.
Remember, you can boost the track.
They sure like that.
And this week, it is slight curiosity by circle the earth.
Embarrassed.
I heard the rumors all about you.
Whole lot of trouble in your birthday suit.
Papa Casanova, and daddy's money on the Riviera.
All around you, hats are breaking.
Girls and guys, they all go crazy.
The rumor's all about you.
Call the launch.
We're standing by.
(774) 462-5667.
That's the line.
Yeah.
Call the launch.
In fact, several of you did, Andrews.
We got a nice batch of voicemails.
And Mark from Northern Michigan kicks it off.
I think it was a call to you.
Oh, straight to Ang.
Alright.
Hey, Angela.
This is Mark from Northern Michigan.
Sorry to jump in here, but I'm not even double listening to this week's episode, but I had to chime in.
In New Year's resolution to lose 20 pounds, you go, girl, and you've already lost five.
That is so awesome.
At 51, what's that, four or five years ago, I lost 90 pounds in about six and a half months.
Wow.
And all I gotta say is you can do it.
Thank you.
20 pound now you got 15 left.
You can do it.
There are some tips and tricks and everything.
I think you're starting to look at the right stuff.
Drink plenty of water, whatever your body weight is, yet you should drink twice an ounce as your body weight in the water a day Wow.
In kilograms.
I think that is.
Anyhow.
For me, was like a gallon of water.
But find somebody that can help hold you accountable.
That is key.
If you can find somebody that's coach you, that's good.
I had a coach.
I became a coach because I just got transformed so much.
I want to pass it on.
But, yeah, kudos to you.
But, yeah, find accountability is cool and staying away from processed carbs.
Right?
Just having a plan is the biggest thing.
But the last one I want I really encourage you to dig into is really finding why.
Right?
Because when times get tough, you're gonna need a good why to get you through.
So there you go, and I'll probably chime in again later once I get done with the podcast.
Have a great one, guys.
I get what he's saying about why.
Oh, a good why?
Yeah.
Good I thought you said a good wine.
Oh, was like, well, I cut out alcohol so far.
I have not had any alcohol this year.
I am down another couple pounds, which is nice.
It's slow going, but really fixing my sleep is what I need to do, and that's what I have been doing for the last week.
But last night, it completely tanked.
Focus on that and then the, you know, the weight stuff is a little easier.
Mhmm.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I think the why is a good one because it's like for me, I've been thinking I need to I need to walk more, obviously.
Everybody probably does.
Well, most people.
But I just cannot, especially when it's so crappy here Mhmm.
And we get an hour and forty five minutes of daylight.
I've been really Yeah.
Just not motivated.
Yeah.
And so I've been trying to think of if I came up with a why and the why simply is because a, I just would like to prevent muscle loss and deterioration, like just baseline maintain.
And b, it's never gonna get any easier.
No.
As we as we get older.
Yeah.
For sure.
So that's in the back of my mind.
Still hasn't gotten me out yet, but I think as it starts to warm up a little bit.
We'll see.
Alright.
Well, how about this?
A caller has a third kid on the way.
Hey, guys.
My wife is pregnant with our third kid.
Love the show.
Peace.
Nice.
Congratulations.
Short and sweet.
Welcome to the three kids club.
Good luck, and, you know, call us if you need any advice.
Mhmm.
We've got some experience.
Alright.
Well, producer Jeff called in.
Got hungry and thought I'd call to lunch.
Oh, wrong number?
I don't think so.
This is Jeff, California.
You know who it is.
PJ here.
You know, I was thinking about this whole traffic thing and bad drivers.
Yeah.
I can't argue.
I can't fight I can't fight you.
It's not, you know, nowhere I've been, and I haven't traveled far.
I haven't been this I'm not as well traveled as as you.
So I'd and I'd have to agree to California.
It's bad, but not as bad as Washington in general.
But I will fight you on one thing.
LA, specifically, LA City, in the actual city of LA, as soon as you bring your vehicle into that area, an energy of pure anger and aggression overwhelms you.
And this happens to everybody.
I would argue that that area specifically is more dangerous to drive than, say, Seattle or San Francisco or any other big city.
Because if you're in Seattle or San Francisco, a majority of the people there know where they're going.
They know which roads are one way.
They know which lanes they need to be in to turn.
But if you go to LA, even if people know where they're at and where they're going, nobody nobody acts like it.
Nobody drives like it.
And the place is so poorly developed.
I mean, you can't go left in LA unless it's red.
And I'm not kidding.
You have to go left on a red light.
It's ridiculous.
So that's that's my argument.
Alright.
Is it better?
No.
Is it you know, are the drivers overall worse in California?
No.
Washington's gotta speak all day.
Mhmm.
See you guys.
LA, I could yeah.
I could understand that.
It's like a pressure cooker.
Mhmm.
It's a pressure cooker.
They just shut down one of the northbound lanes on I 5 too and getting out of Seattle.
So it's gonna be more fun.
Matt called in on traffic as well.
I don't understand what the heck is going on here.
I agree.
I'm gonna take two.
This is Matt, and you're talking about traffic.
I grew up and spent most of my adult life in Minnesota, but I moved to Florida a couple years ago.
And I can compare the traffic in the Minneapolis versus Tampa areas.
Alright.
I can summon traffic in Minneapolis as off 94 was real bad yesterday.
All for congested.
But since moving to the Tampa Bay area, I realized that despite being an approximately equivalent size metro area, the traffic is much worse here.
Uh-huh.
For example, instead of 80 to 90% of people in the Twin Cities using their turn signals to change lanes and to turn, about 10% of people in Pinellas and Hillsborough County use their turn signals.
The inverse time.
An adjustment.
Less people in the Twin Cities tend to use the left lane as the passing lane and the right lane as the flow lane, whereas here, good luck trying to drive to Orlando because people are just gonna be filling whatever lane they feel like at whatever speed they feel like.
Yep.
Traffic here is still not as bad as in Atlanta, LA, or Boston in my experience.
I'd be curious to hear what it's like in the Seattle area.
Just thought I'd give my experience there.
Thanks.
Bye.
Thank you, Matt.
You know what I would like to see as an experiment?
This is this is probably my one of my largest old man beliefs and opinions.
But what if for well, let's just say six months.
I don't know.
You could pick a time frame.
What if for six months, we did 50% less traffic speeding type tickets, and we did 50% more left lane camper violation Yeah.
Which is on the books as a as as a traffic violation.
Mhmm.
So what if we just enforce the existing law and just saw what happened if we kept people in a left lane for passing?
And then if you if you stayed there for too long, you know, maybe you don't get a ticket, but the cop puts the lights on and tells you get over or something.
If we just did that for six months, I bet you traffic would flow significantly better.
Yeah.
It's bad.
It's bad.
Thank you for helping me feel better though, Matt.
And and PJ, appreciate that.
Mayhem's at the movies, and this is part one.
I don't understand what the heck is going on here.
Thank you, Hank.
So I finally got around to watching Die Hard, and I I don't understand how this is even a debate.
Like, okay.
So there's this concept in movies and plays and stuff called diegetic diegetic sound.
Essentially, if if if audio is diegetic, it's available to the characters.
So in, like, a musical, the characters are singing the song that's diegetic.
They can hear it.
You know?
It's a there's the part where Argyll puts the the tape in.
Right?
And he starts playing the Christmas in Hollis.
Yep.
That's diegetic, and then it fades to nondiegetic sound.
It's like the background music as as the camera goes off to to Nakatomi Tower.
That says a lot about the intentions of the people who made the movie.
Right?
It's one thing.
If if if Christmas is just set dressing, if Christmas is just when this movie happens, then it's gonna be maybe some characters interacting with with things to do with Christmas.
Maybe there's some some Christmas stuff in the background.
But when you're in a situation where you're actually having nondiegetic sound playing like background music being being piped in that the characters aren't even aware of, that's different than it just being set in Christmas.
That is the moviemaker actually saying, hey.
This is a Christmas movie.
There is nondiegetic music being piped in.
This isn't just filling out the the setting.
This is the movie.
Beyond that, on top of that, there is a lot of really awkward exposition where characters will will purposely say it's Christmas beyond what you would just do in real life.
In in real I like this doctor Mayhem analysis.
He does have a a short part too.
So, you know, the doctor continues.
In real life, you may reference the fact that it's Christmas.
But in a movie that is supposed to be a Christmas movie, you're gonna make a point in in steering these conversations.
It's very awkward, very stilted conversation, but they are saying, hey.
It's Christmas.
There's no way this isn't a Christmas movie.
And to to Harry Potter and all that other stuff, yeah.
Sure.
It's like it's like when they redefine Pluto.
Right?
Like, they're like, okay.
We have to redefine Pluto because we're finding all this other stuff out there, and then and we can't have thousands of of other thousands of planets.
We're gonna have to redefine Pluto to something else so we can keep it at eight planets.
No.
You just really redefine your mind to think about what a planet is.
There are thousands of planets.
Don't redefine something that we've been calling a planet a planet for a hundred years because you suddenly don't like the idea that there would be a thousand planets.
No.
There's just a thousand planets.
In the same vein, no.
There's just a thousand Christmas movies.
It's okay.
There can be a lot of Christmas movies.
You don't have to redefine what the Christmas movie is so that so that you can keep the numbers low.
Just look at it differently.
Jeez.
What is wrong with people?
Right?
And the doctor makes a good point.
You know, I appreciate the analysis, and I appreciate the fact that he worked in a Pluto rant.
Yes.
Not easy enough.
Right.
Yeah.
And this really concludes a hero's journey if you think about it.
It started with is it it or is it not?
And then, you know, doctor Maham jumped in, and I think that's a I think that's the best analysis we're gonna find on the Internet of Die Hard.
And I think he's also right.
We don't need to gatekeep.
We don't need to gatekeep Yeah.
Christmas movies.
Yeah.
And I'm gonna keep on loving it as a Christmas movie.
So thank you mister Mayhem.
I appreciate that.
And it's I'm sorry.
Doctor Mayhem.
Thank you.
And now, it is time for the boost.
Well, we got a nice little batch of boost, and pod bun was our first booster this week with a row of ducks 2222ยข.
Every time I text my mom, she'll ring me and not reply to the text.
So I just have a ton of unresponded texts.
I I could see that.
Oh, I just rather oh, we'll just talk on the phone.
Yeah.
I can do that sometimes when it's like I'm like three or four I'm just like, why are we doing this?
Mhmm.
Oh, moms or moms.
Yeah.
Thank you.
Appreciate that, Pod Bun.
Good to hear from you.
Adversary 17 is here with 16,300 and a 384 sets.
I'm jumping on the annual themes idea with you.
At work, it's gonna be optimize what we have to make the most of it.
Mhmm.
Outside of work, I think the theme is gonna be building for the future.
Nice.
Meaning financially, relationships, knowledge, and skills for self repair and maintenance, and other things of the like.
Side note, I mentioned about how I am every process I'm doing, I'm evaluating.
What small thing about it can I fix or change or whatever so that I don't have to waste time?
Yeah.
And I thought of the perfect one yesterday.
Oh, yeah?
I was converting another one of my process data sheets to point to a day the year cell so that I can just quickly change it all over.
I realized in order to change those formulas, I have to I copy, and then I click, and then I paste.
But then I have to take my hand off the mouse and put it under my desk to the keyboard tray to hit enter.
Uh-huh.
I am going to program enter on my mouse button.
Just take that little enter out.
Why not?
And then I don't have to take my hand off the mouse.
Shave it off.
Yeah.
So easy.
I mean, over a year.
Yeah.
Makes a difference.
It does.
No.
Just in a day, it would make a difference.
Like, yeah, it's stupid.
It's gonna be it's gonna be awesome.
Yeah.
And I also adversaries, I like the idea of skills for self repair and maintenance because, like, that's kind of an investment itself.
It's not a financial investment.
But if you can learn how to fix and repair things more and more, that's just a compounding savings every time that comes up.
So I think that's a great one.
Thank you adversaries.
Appreciate you.
Thanks for the boost.
A a Ron's back with 3,333 sats.
Where is A a Ron right now?
And he says, I wanna share mine.
I shared my New Year's resolution with Lovey.
He's gonna share it with us.
A a Ron.
It's the year of Knicks OS.
However, I wanted to share my wife's because I think it's interesting.
The 10x10 challenge, play 10 board games 10 times.
It sounds hard, but she had a last year with a full time hospital job and everything.
She's obsessed with board games and it makes easy Christmas and birthday shopping.
Gosh.
That's funny.
No kidding.
Yeah.
I I I wish I was more of a of a board game guy.
Yeah.
I'm not.
Yeah.
I you know, it's because you can especially these days, it's nice to do something that's not on a screen and they're portable.
I'm I'm gonna try.
I'm gonna try, but I I don't know if I'm inclined.
But I do think that's a really cool idea.
10 board games in ten weeks.
Thank you, Aaron.
Appreciate you.
Aaron.
Well, there he is.
Turd Ferguson's here with 13,333 sats.
Turd Ferguson.
Catching up on the show and I gotta say I like this idea of themes.
It's almost like a goal, but it won't yell at me next March.
Asking for a friend, can my yearly theme be not getting audited?
Audited for what?
Is that IRS?
The first thing I think of, but I think that's what we all think of, but who knows?
Yeah.
Who really knows?
Alright.
That's it.
Short humble batch, but we do appreciate it very much.
We did have two of you stream sats as we went along, and we stacked 2,001 sats.
So thank you all two of you who like to do that.
This show's never had a big streaming audience.
So if you've ever wanted to do that, you certainly could.
And then when we combine that with our boosters, we stacked a very humble 37,273.
It's a little little short because this show doesn't have a sponsor.
We have member support, and we have per episode support with the boost.
So if you like the show, grab an app like Fountain and send us a boost.
There's a whole bunch of really great apps at newpodcastapps.com, and you can self host infrastructure there.
But Fountain has really been going from strength to strength with new features, and there's more things on the way that are just gonna make it super easy to get started if you've never sent a boost before and all of that jazz.
So it's a great way to support us or you can become a party member at jupiter.party and the promo code bootleg is still going and then you get access to the extended version of the launch which is already clocking in at just about an hour.
Thank you everybody who supports the show.
So this is an area that I know a bit about.
Done a lot of road trips over the years, done the fast trips, done the cheap trips, done the lazy trips.
And there are a lot of tools, apps, and services, and pro tips to make a road trip very viable even if the family doesn't have a huge budget.
And this might possibly be a good year.
Gas prices are looking decent.
Let's hope they hold up to the summer.
Average US gallon is $2.81 right now.
And at this time last year, it was $3.60.
Jeez.
So we're we're down pretty good.
And perhaps the trend is our friend because the trend indicator seems to show while we have kind of bottomed out a little bit on the price with some new supply coming on the market, that price may decline a bit more, may not.
We'll see.
But it's definitely going to be a lot more economical this year to take a road trip than it was last year.
And even if you're just going to your local area, you're not going very far, it can be a lot of fun, create great memories, and definitely cheaper than flying somewhere trendy and spendy.
So you wanna get there feeling good, feeling refreshed, maybe a little heavy in the pocketbook.
So here's kind of what I've honed in on over the years that I think you could find useful.
And I wanna start with a couple of apps.
K.
First up is this app that is a little tricky to use.
So this is the most complicated app, and I'm just gonna get it out of the way.
And I've used this once on a long road trip to Texas, and it's the Highway Radar app.
And the Highway Radar app is a combination of Waze information, flight database information, other users submitting all kinds of things you should know about on the road from hazards to, you know, speed traps.
And then it also includes historical heat maps, so you get an idea of what the action has been like in that area before.
So if you're coming through for a first timer, you get a clear heads up.
It also integrates weather forecasting, and it has the option of current weather conditions or what the weather conditions will be when you arrive.
And this is just a little fantastic app to go along as you drive.
You know, it's sort of a Waze replacement without using Waze.
Then another one if you just want to stay overnight somewhere really cheap in your car, there's a couple of apps I want you to be aware of.
The first one's a website.
It's just freecampsites.net.
I'll have a link to that in show notes.
Real easy.
Mhmm.
And Hipcamp is a really easy one as well.
And you can use these and and Allstays is another great one to find places where you can actually park overnight for free, so and just put like a mattress in your car or in your RV.
Like Boondock?
Yeah.
Like Boondocking.
And you could there's no you don't have to be in an RV to do it if you've got a way to sleep comfortably in your car.
But the first app that I genuinely think is extremely useful that I want everybody to know about is called iExit.
And this is such a great idea.
You open it up while you're going down the highway, freeway.
Yeah.
Tells you what's at the next exit.
Yep.
That's nice.
Yeah.
It is.
Like food, camping, gas.
Yeah.
There was some other app that that you recommended to me when I was driving over to Montana.
I can't remember what it was.
Something similar to this app.
It at least showed me the rest stops, which was important.
Yeah.
This will do that too.
Yeah.
No.
I see that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's sort of a combination of all of them.
And it can also help you find cheaper gas as well.
GasBuddy being an obvious plug for there.
So that's cool.
But there's things coming along these days that are really trying to be competitive.
And one of these is a service called Seeker.
And Seeker lets you plan a road trip that includes spots to stay, different camping ground campgrounds with a theme.
And it's a newer app.
It's pretty good.
And it generates a pretty interesting robust road trip just kind of from the go and then you refine it from there.
And it creates a little map and a route for you.
There's a few apps like this.
I would probably also recommend Road Trippers.
Road Trippers also now has a new AI Copilot.
And I've tested it for a couple of trips.
And what it'll essentially do is you give it your route, then you tell it your type of vehicle.
If it's a van or an RV or a you know a car or an EV.
And you tell it where you wanna go and what dates you wanna arrive and if you want it to be a round trip.
This is I'm talking about Road Trippers here.
And then the Road Trippers website and they have an app as well.
We'll plan this based on your vehicle dynamics and then you could run their little copilot tool to, you know, essentially figure out what's along your route that's interesting.
And some of these apps even let you say, I wanna go somewhere that doesn't have big crowds.
So show me interesting stuff but filter on avoiding crowds and that kind of thing.
And you can layer these apps together like your freecampsites.net or your hip camp or your road trippers.
You can layer these apps together to stay for free on an for for the length of an entire road trip if you want or find really cheap hotels and things like that.
And so I'll link to some of these AI trip planners.
They also have just regular trip planning without any of the, you know, LM stuff in there as well.
But they're great especially for those of you in a van or an RV.
It's super good because it knows the road dynamics for large vehicles.
It knows about, you know, height restrictions and all of that and climbs and and things like that.
So I'll put a link to all of the apps because I could rattle on the apps.
Yeah.
Jeez.
Like, do you have a do you have a folder or a little screen or Yes, I do.
Yeah.
I have a I have a folder.
I definitely do.
You know this hack, Ang.
Walmart, lot of them, but not all of them Yep.
Allow you to stay.
Cracker Barrels as well.
In fact, in the back, Cracker Barrel often has large parking spots meant for overnight.
Cabela's and Bass Pro stops.
Oh.
Often will let you but the good hack that I recommend, because it's a little quieter than all these places and it doesn't have trucks, if you're willing to to go in and get like a club card or or buy a meal, casinos will sometimes let you stay for multiple days for free.
Oh, interesting.
And they have dedicated spots for this Mhmm.
Mhmm.
In their parking.
With hookups?
Some of them do.
Yeah.
Wow.
Yeah.
Including Angel of the Winds and Yeah.
Yeah.
Was a trick I pulled in New Mexico when a huge storm came in, and we wanted to just get off the road because it was just pouring and windy like crazy.
And so this casino was closed because of COVID, but they were still allowing people to park there.
So we parked.
And as soon as we got parked, the storm ended double rainbow.
It was great.
It was meant to be.
Yeah.
So casinos can be a real resource for that.
And then the other term that you wanna look up is if you're looking for free road trip camping is BLM.
That would be like the Bureau of Land Management.
Oh, okay.
I I understood it as something else.
Right.
Right.
It's been BLM for a little while.
Mhmm.
And this is sort of free dispersed camping where you can boondock Mhmm.
And you can stay usually for four to fourteen days.
In some of these places are very very very pretty.
Of course, you can do street parking.
I don't know.
That's a little more iffy.
Mhmm.
Especially in Seattle.
Yeah.
If you think about it, you know, there's some places that make more sense than other, like maybe a hospital parking lot, although I don't recommend it, you know, some places.
But you don't really need to with some of the apps I'm gonna include.
It's the the route with that kind of stuff if you can, and this has been my approach, is like it's a grocery store or maybe a church or a business lot and they're not open.
If you can contact them and ask them Mhmm.
Say, one night do you mind?
You can avoid the po po.
Mhmm.
Mhmm.
Mhmm.
And then this is a this is a tip that's a little just sort of a life hack over time is things are cheaper and the roads are empty mostly Tuesday through Thursday.
So if you can schedule your driving Tuesday through Thursday, you will have less traffic and you'll find that hotels and campgrounds are cheaper.
And what that also means is you spend less time on the road, you experience less fatigue, and it's less risk because less drivers means less opportunity for an incident.
So when you're driving a large vehicle like an RV, you kinda try to skew for that if you can.
There are some memberships that I've tried over the years that I definitely recommend if you are doing this and harvest host is an incredible one.
It's getting more expensive as time goes on, but so is their selection.
And this will let you stay at wineries, breweries, golf club, golf, you know, camp whatever clubs or whatever you wanna call it.
Courses, thank you.
That's what I'm looking for.
And all kinds of things.
Some with electric hookups, farms, like a pack of farms, and all kinds of things that can be really fun.
They have hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of locations across The US and Canada.
Yeah.
I'm sure they're expanding too Mhmm.
Often.
Mhmm.
Yeah.
They're almost 10,000 locations.
Wow.
And many of them, maybe nearly all of them, you stay for free quote unquote.
Mhmm.
You are encouraged to buy something while you're there, but you stay From the local.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So like for example, this one here in Oregon, which could be on our way down to scale where we could stay in Brenzvan, is an organic blueberry farm and river retreat.
So it's a blueberry farm on a freaking river, and you get to park on the water.
Wow.
And the price of your stay is a jar of blueberry jam or something.
Right?
It's not a big deal.
So there it it is quiet.
It is nice.
It is pleasant.
So that's the Harvest Host out of all of the memberships that I do have is probably the one I recommend the most.
And then last but not least, you can do truck stops.
They're loud.
They work.
They have bathrooms.
You could do truck stops.
And don't sleep on on the truck stop slash rest stop.
They are they can be a lifesaver especially if you're getting tired.
But they can be bright.
And so my only tip would be Oh yeah.
If you can some cars have like shades you can get or things that clip into the window or curtains.
And you will find that if especially if it's more than one person, you're probably gonna wanna sleep with a window cracked or a sunroof cracked, something like that.
And at a at a rest stop, it gets pretty loud.
Yeah.
Those trucks, even if you're not in the truck lot, even if they're in the lot next to you, they sit there with their engines idling all night because that's how they generate power and keep their heat going and stuff like that a lot of times.
So that gets really loud.
So if you can, I would say avoid the rest stops plus they get really busy and some shady stuff goes down over there?
Drive on the weekends if you can.
If you wanna do something kinda nice for yourself, get a Harvest Host, although it can be a little expensive.
And then look through the apps that I have in the show notes, freecampsites.net, iExit, Hipcamp, And also one I didn't mention, but if you're traveling in the summer or if you're traveling really in the winter, it's something to definitely keep an eye out.
And this app is so useful when you're just you're already on the road and you need to know.
It's called drive weather at driveweatherapp.com.
And it just simply shows you the weather around your route and at the time you expect to get there just dedicated to that.
And man, oh man, can this make the difference between going a direction that's a 120 degrees or going, you know, the direction that's 85, 90 degrees or a direction that has extremely icy roads or a direction that has dry roads.
So it's definitely worth getting one of these and then you just kinda check it every morning that you set out on your trip.
Nice.
Yeah.
And then my last like my last pro tip and I'll see if I can remember this one because it's been a long time, but Don't bring kids.
Yeah.
That's yeah.
Makes it a lot easier.
Yeah.
Oh, no.
I I guess it would be, you know, think about what your limits are.
And I have a I have a hack that is you take the amount of miles that you're driving that day, and you divide by 55 or 60 miles per hour.
So 55 or 60 because you're gonna stop, you're gonna have to go to the bathroom, you're gonna have to eat.
Oh, yeah.
Road time.
Yeah.
So there's a that and that is just a quick short answer.
So if you say you gotta do 300 miles in a day, and you divide that by 55, then you know that you're gonna be driving for five point four hours total of drive time.
Minimum.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Right?
There's nothing worse than going on a driving type vacation destination where you drive there, and you get stuck in all the rush hour traffic.
Like Yes.
Why?
Why is everybody going to work when I'm trying to vacation?
Yeah.
That's where that highway radar app comes in really good or just planning, you know, around rush hour.
Yeah.
That's something else we do is if we know that day we're going through a major city Yeah.
We time it.
Yep.
And that's and that that means we leave at 5AM or something.
Yep.
We do.
Yeah.
If it means you stop and go to the children's museum Yep.
Before you continue the route or a diner or Yeah.
Get a snack.
Destination.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So it's just mileage divided by your average speed that includes when you stop.
And that tends to be say you're driving all day and you stop here and there, 55, 60 miles per hour.
So in this case, it'd 300 divided by 55 gets you 5.45 miles.
Yeah.
I always I I feel like there's a percentage, like, multiply it by 1.2 or 1.3 Because road time Yeah.
It does not make sense.
No.
And it's even worse takes in way longer.
In like in an RV.
Yeah.
I know.
That's why I'm like, why are you using fifty five sixty?
But I recognize that you're, you know, some of these people are gonna be in cars.
Yeah.
But even in a car, you're still stopping for lunch and stuff.
Yeah.
And then I guess I'll give one more plug for one more app.
I should probably throw this one in the show notes.
If you are in an electric vehicle, you probably know about this.
So I maybe I don't even throw it in the show notes.
But if you didn't know, it's called a better route planner.
Abetterrouteplanner.com.
And it can you put in all the dynamics of your vehicle, and it will help you plan a route, and you can bias towards few, but long stop charges or short, but many stops.
So you can just boo boo boo boo boo.
And then you could tell what percentage of charge you would like to arrive at.
And since it knows your car and the battery type, it can do all that math.
And it can plan a great route for you where you can charge either as little or as much as your heart desires.
So that's a better routeplanner.com.
Yeah.
Some good tips in there, condensed down, and the real the real sauce, that's in the show notes.
But I think I wanted to get this out now because I feel like it's early in the year, but we could be coming up on a great road trip in summer.
Mhmm.
Spring break is around the corner as well.
It's another great opportunity for your road trip.
Mhmm.
I think we'll be taking a road trip down to scale.
You know, that's this is a great example of where we do it cheap and fast.
Like, the absolute minimum cost possible to get three dudes to scale Mhmm.
Do coverage of Planet Nixon scale and get us back and not break the bank entirely.
And so it's applying a lot of these strategies for that sort of thing.
And I guess I could also mention the Dara Witch Project because that's how we track and I'll put a link to that.
I call it the big d.
Oh, okay.
Well, don't go there.
Don't go there because I just don't know how to say it.
I don't you know, the how D A W A R I C H.
Darwich?
People tell me all the time and I forget it.
So I just go with big d and it maps for you as you go.
You just report privately and you can keep a track of your whole road trip, is great for memories and looking back at places you saw along the way that you'd like to revisit.
And that's a derewitch.
App for that.
And we've talked about that on Linux unplugged.
Alright.
There you have it, Andrews.
I hope you feel road trip ready in case you get inspired this summer.
Definitely.
There's so many apps.
Oh, I know.
And I had to I had to scale it back.
Mhmm.
I could have kept going.
Yeah.
Oh, I know.
I actually almost made that comment.
Like, you could go on all day.
I sure could.
Alright.
Well, I'll put links to all of that.
You know where over at weeklylaunch.rocks.
