Speaker 1

One week of AFL Finals down, one week of AFL Super Coach Finals down.

Speaker 2

This is the Phantom Speaking.

Speaker 1

Welcome back to the phantoms Layer podcast and once again joined by Bottom of the Pod, the inaugural Bottom of the Pod for AFL Super Coach Finals.

Hayden the Chief Dosh Key.

The Crows didn't get it done, neither did you in week one.

Speaker 2

No thanks fandom for mentioning that.

Yeh, Bottom of the Pod the King King of Bop for the first week of finals.

Very honored to have this title that I will forever have.

Now that's back to back bops as well.

If you're a long time there listener.

Speaker 1

In the final round of the final minor round of the season of the Big Show coming up.

Quick recap of what happened in week Why are we going to pick a combined team again?

Growth of our captain, which we know is vital I picked the dud captain.

Speaker 2

Yeah, triple Calden double vice captain makes a huge difference and we saw it all the top teams.

Speaker 1

Yeah, we're going to look at it, how we went and what we got, what we learned from that first week, and what we're going to do heading into week two.

Speaker 2

Semifinals.

Can you get into it?

Yep, let's do it.

I'm going to make your team together again.

Let's look back though last week, the top ten scorers from last week.

So if you had these guys, you're do them pretty well.

But a lot of them we can't select this week because some of them are gone and some of them are on the by.

In fact, eight of ten of the top scorers unavailable to select this week due to either being eliminated from the finals race or being on the buy this week essentially with their final coming next week.

So Caleb's a wrong one fifty leading scorer by eighteen points.

Didn't have him, suggested him on this ship.

But yeah, I didn't captain myself.

Huge score.

If you got him one hundred and fifty times three, I think the winner had him captain.

That was the difference.

Yeah, I mean they would have, yeah, all the winners, all the top ten, all the top scorers would have.

I'm sure Max Holmes one thirty two came in second.

Their Luckie Whitfield joined him.

There was three players that scored one point thirty two, Whitfield and Olie Dempsel.

So Whitfield can't select eliminated Homes on the buy and Oli Dempsey on the buy.

Speaker 1

We did say that it's going to be saying this week there was gonna be one player that Bob's up that we're not.

Speaker 2

Used to picking in Super Coach.

Yeah, Oly Dempsey.

Last week, Yeah, Andrew Brayshaw won twenty nine.

Dorcoco player we can select this week one twenty six Hayden Young, the guy who I'm going to say it right here, right now, clip this for next season.

My first pick the first week six, one hundred and twenty six.

He scored and he is primed for a huge proper year next year with a full pre season under his belt.

Luke Jackson, a guy who I deemed no go zone last week.

In hindsight, having a think about it and thinking about how we pick these teams, you do go for those high ceiling players, even if they do have a law bit of four.

That was bad pick, bad bad choice by me.

But Lloyd Meek equal top scoring in the ruck department alongside Luke Jackson with one twenty five and Tom Stewart won twenty four.

We can't pick as well, So Spewart am I a couple of guys I avoided during the season coming up Trump's in week one finals.

But like you said, a lot of changes this week to our team.

We've got to pick a fresh team.

The only major change this week as well is that we can pick replayers per team.

Obviously there's less games of only four teams left fourteen this week this week, so we can pick one extra player from each team to make up the numbers.

Now.

Quick rankings update from week one.

The number one coach was Neil coach of Harley Lujah.

What's nice?

Hopefully a week was fan there you'd expect soot out Love to say it scored fourteen to twenty nine, so good start for Neil.

Of course the overall prizes across the four weeks, but an amazing start for Neil and the team.

Beached will put it up on screen if you're watching on the Code Sports YouTube channel.

But I read it out from the back line.

Had Zorko Whitfield vice captain on Whitfield there nu point dekos yep nick Dakos so wrong of course the triple captain score Maddie Row who was solid one hundred and seven.

He scored on the weekend.

Lloyd meek in the ruck Riley Thilthorpe, who despite a lot of people saying you had a poor game, still scored one hundred and twenty one Super Coach points, So did all right in this format.

Toby Green to Green that was vetoed last week, you got that one right, got that one right.

Thirty seven had so obviously with the flex scoring, so it's best eight of nine players that we pick here.

So Toby Green would have dropped off for this score, and then Luke Jackson in flex there so went the double ruck options was the top scorer of the week, So very good stuff for Neil.

Shout out to Harley Lujah, the number one coach for Finals week one and also a show.

Also a shout out.

I've got to get the sound effects out because this guy truly is, truly is to go.

Fantasy Footy super Coach go as well.

Selby Morera's magic tenth overall for the round YEP, the guy can't be stopped.

I mean honestly unbelievable stuff.

Now, fan, you didn't put it out on your Twitter, but we will announce right here.

I made the league after the show last week.

You're free to jump in any week of the finals.

We want everyone to jump into this league.

See how we're going against each other.

And like we said we might chuck together, well we will.

We will chuck together some merch for the winner at the end of the four weeks.

Speaker 1

Beat the Phantom League.

Yep, get in there.

Only thirty three people beat me last week in the league.

Speaker 2

Get in there.

You want to take how many people is there?

Thirty five?

Speaker 1

Not many yet, but still we're in the three figures.

The co eight four six, eight to two zero.

You'll put it on the screen, will put out on the socials as well, So join in there.

Speaker 2

We've got plenty of merch.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I think to give away as well to the winner if you can beat the Phantom.

Speaker 2

And the current leader of that league, Jack coach of Exploder sitting fifty eighth overall and scored a thirteen fifty six in week one Leader of the beat the Phantom League.

So good stuff there.

Let's get into this week and we're going to select a team together.

Fanom.

But let's look at the games this week.

Friday, Friday night, first semi final.

You're from, you'll crom up against the Hawks at the Adelaide Crovill of course, Phantom will be there.

Probably I'll be there.

You'll probably see the enough enough somewhere in the crowd there.

So how do you feel about this game?

First?

Not sure?

Speaker 1

Well, I declared the skipper to put your house on it for a big game from Jordan Dawson.

Last week didn't happen, one of his worst performances of the year, hurt the Crows and hurt my super coach team.

But I don't think that'll happen again.

I think he will bounce back, the team will bounce back.

Just get it done.

Speaker 2

You reckon, they'll get it done.

Yeah, anyone with the VC or C on Dawson last week?

Could you go again?

Could right in front of me?

Right of me?

Speaker 1

This is the week that you just back him in again.

We'll get to it in the second but big call.

Speaker 2

Yeah, big call up against the Hawks Saturday though, the second semi final Brisbane versus Gold Coast the Q clash at the Gabba.

Any gut feel on this one as well?

Because I guess some of our results will depend on how the or you know, some of the players we pick will depend on how we think the game will go as well.

Who will have their hands on the pill Brisbane v.

Gold Coast any gut field there.

Speaker 1

Well we've spoken about Selby the fantasy goat.

We've got the goat in reality.

Gary ablet junr Yes Tuesday says the Stuns can win the flag without a doubt.

Speaker 2

Okay, that's a big call word from the goat.

I think the souns a win.

Yep, all right, Well Phantdom, let's pick our team for Finals week two.

Super Coach Finals Week two again, the only rule change for week two.

Now you can completely wipe your team fresh start afresh the finals week two, which is what we love about the game.

Again vice captain's worth double points, captain's worth triple.

But you can select three players max per team this week rather than too because there's only four teams playing.

So let's go draft style again and I'll give you the honors once more you need.

And then again we get one veto each to wipe out one player and replace that player.

So let's get going.

Speaker 1

I was the middle Matt Row Maddie Row straight in just creeped over the three figures last week.

But Q clash the Sons No Locke Neil.

Speaker 2

They look a bit wounded.

Speaker 1

That Son's midfield Hugh mccluggs was tagged out of it last week.

Will Daman, Hubbock coach, adopt a similar approach and let his guys get on top.

Speaker 2

So Matt Row, Maddie Row straight in, I'm going to go to the opposition team and a guy who had a very poor game last week if you did select him.

Now, he had the top average next to his name for the regular season among midfielders before we started this format.

Now he's way down, scored a fifty three last week.

And I'm talking about Hugh McCluggage so got the clamp, a hard clamp.

He read Ocean mullin.

I don't think we really flagged.

We kind of skipped over Ocean's influence potentially on the show last week, and something to be wary of.

Hadn't tagged Clug in the past.

I reckon he went to Locke Neil, but obviously went to Clug in the first five and really quelled his influence.

But I don't think Gold Coast is going to tag I think Clug Will I'm close to.

Speaker 1

I'm close to video doing the cluging vetoing the clug.

Speaker 2

How successful they were last week in stopping there and they'll go.

But but you reckon like a Tuke Miller or something, just goes to him, stands on him and stuff.

Speaker 1

Maybe I won't veto up, but I'm close.

I want that record that well you can make next week, No hold your veto.

Speaker 2

If there's nothing else, I'll allow that to be used.

Making me second guess it now.

But I really like the club.

He's one of the highest pick players.

You can see some of the highest ownership players.

He is one of the top pick players.

So I guess that could be going against a highly owned player.

If you do think that he'll be I think he'll be target it again, you got a little.

Speaker 1

Bit differently here.

We like you need to think a little bit differently.

Given there's even less players to pick from this year, I'm.

Speaker 2

Sure they'll be better.

The Crows.

The way they kicked the footy into.

Speaker 1

The Ford line last week gave Darcy Moore perfecttunity n intercept marks James Sisley in defense.

Could if the Crows do the same thing, Yeah, he'll mock to his advantage.

Could he do a Darcy one mop it up?

Could be a nice little pod defender.

I think I really like.

Speaker 2

It, and yeah I do really like that option.

I'm just going to go probably to one of the easier lines to pick.

There's not a heap for us to choose here, but possibly a little bit of a gut feel here.

And this is a bit of a bit of a pill pill, a bit of a point of difference.

I think he could be for this round.

But Big Rob Riley O'Brian in and you know what it might be away two rucks but scored just the eighty four last week up against Lloyd Meek, who if you did just select the most highly owned player, you would just jump on a Lloyd Meek one twenty five last week.

But Big Rob missed the set shot last week, but he did not want to kick that.

Speaker 1

He was looking to every look to the crowds.

I want to hit it for him, I think Rob.

I think Big Rob could have a big bounce back this week.

Your first two picks close to Bedelling.

Speaker 2

Yeah, well go ahead, then who you got?

Can I come back to it?

Yeah?

All right?

Who's next for you?

Surely a cron player before I think we're locking into I feel Thorpe again in the forward line.

Yeah, I think that's a fairly safe pick.

I'm going to go on the forward line again and a guy that stands out to me in the absence now of Locky Neil ruled out for the season after last week, terrible news for Brisbane, but a guy that did thrive in his absence.

I'm going to go Zack Bailey up forward up against gold Coast, so quite like his ability to impact against Gold Coast.

Gold Coast according to our numbers that we had heading into the finals, of the available teams, gold Coast gave up the number one points to mid forwards, so that's an interesting selection.

I think you'll play a bit of mid, bit of forward, bit more midfield time given the lack of locking Meal in there.

And Zach Bailey I quite like as a player this week against the Suns.

Speaker 1

He's a player that's going to have to play well if they're going to win.

We've seen him be that spark and they definitely need one, so I don't mind it.

Speaker 2

I won't be to.

Speaker 1

That one, I don't think, because there isn't much more in the forward line.

Speaker 2

There, but you could go okay, I mean a cam Rainer, despite swearing sixty four was pretty good as well last week, had moments obviously got the free kicks that were controversial but had moments could have could have gone big.

I think as well, So he's one that would be a high ceiling, high risk, high reward game un vetoing.

Rob's out okay, and Dawson's in, so you just always replaced.

Speaker 1

Sorry, keep Rob, so we can keep pick three, can't We got confuse there?

Okay, Rob, I thought we had to pick two three players this week reminder of the audience.

But you going Dawson in the midfield?

Yep, okay, I don't mind it.

Speaker 2

Again.

Our team's looking a little vanilla, you know what, just because just because I know this will hurt you.

Dawson veto good last week.

I can't be doing that.

You're always not gonna be that bad again.

I can't risk it.

I can't risk it.

We've seen Hawthorne put pressure on some big mids in the past.

I think, like Josh Dunkley will be better, and I'm picking Josh Dunkley so he's our third Brisbane line, which means it also helps in my quest, and not pick Dane's Orco Big Dorco.

So that means the cluggage, Dunky and Bailey are our three lines.

I'm happy with that.

What about you fan?

Sorry Dawson, I know that's cut you deep enough enough date.

Speaker 1

Now again, I'm thinking a bit differently in defense, we won't we won't pick Danes, That's okay, Maybe Joshuall.

Speaker 2

Potentially, or.

Speaker 1

Actually let's go with Rory lad move into the midfield yep.

Last week, could Matthew Nicks do the same thing?

Seventeen cones possession for Rory Laird.

Speaker 2

I like it.

And they're in defense alongside jamesis Lee.

I do like it.

You've still got a still got a little Beto up your sleeve.

Now we've only got flex to fill out.

And in the quest to go a little bit different this week, I'm going to go with a different selection now.

I don't mind.

Up against Brisbane, could we go the Jared Wits were out a bit of a bit of a different player going the two rucks.

We saw the number one player last week had the two rucks in flex and in the ruck position.

I don't mind it.

But then there's Anah Anderson there as well, shouting out maybe at Giant Newcomb against your crom Dawson's certainly looking a bit more tasty than I thought.

Now at this point.

Speaker 1

Also, we could go a Lloyd Oh yeah, I think we're going Lloyd Meek.

I want to I'd rather I like to Vito rob If at some point.

Speaker 2

So we can get rid of Robin put in Meek and then my final selection.

Then in flex answer, let's go Jared Witz.

Let's go a bit different.

I want to go a bit different because all our teams are looking to vanilla too many midfielders in there.

Let's go Jared Witz to finish.

So from the back line, Roy Lair, James Cicily, Josh Dunkley, Humorcluggage, Matt Row, Lloyd Meek, in the Rock, Raleghilthorpe and zap Zak Bailey up for it, and then Jared witzka Rock.

I don't mind that team.

How about our captains and vice captains.

Let's get into those too.

In Dawson not available, but you can you can suggest him as an alternative.

But obviously these are the players we think will be scoring the most.

So who out of the players here is our vice captain?

You can select the captain.

I'll go the VC.

Okay, I'm going to go to VC and just go against you and go clug plug for a huge bounce back, a bit of pride on the line for the clug to bounce back from his or performance tagged by Ocean Mullen bounces back with a huge score.

Matt Rowci Matt Rows can mean again, don't mind it?

So triple score on matt Row Vice captain on human cloage.

Any other options that you like in this circumstance for other people who are picking their captains of vice captain's potential ceiling scores that we're looking.

Speaker 1

For, well, like Jordan Dawson to bounce back.

A lot of people might overlook him because what they saw last week fair enough.

Speaker 2

Yeah, like you, but I think he bounced back.

Speaker 1

No way he's that or again might also Lloyd Meek against Rob as an option one twenty five last week for him.

We know it's had some good ceiling scores as well in the last six or seven games leading into the finals.

So Dawson the Meek, He'll be where I go.

Yeah, I don't mind that, I quite.

I just like the Q clash for my VCC and I agree.

I love a Matt rou I love a Josh Dunkley as well.

Speaker 2

With no Locke news as well.

We've spoken about him.

He scored one hundred and eighteen last week, and I think he could go even better against the Suns, don't.

I don't love as much as last week some of the like some of the defensive options that we thought would go big, like a Jordan Clark had a flat game.

I'd love the idea, as you mentioned, of James Sisley going big, but I don't think I could put the VC.

I think I'm sticking in the midfield or even the ruck for my captain and vice captain this week.

What about a Pilthorpe who already scored one hundred and twenty one and there's Awkin that you know, the media speculation and the talk about him after the game was that he had a poor game despite going one twenty and super coach, do you think he could have another ceiling score even bigger if he plays a solid game.

Speaker 1

Definitely, and then they will need him to twelve de'sperially the last week two goals fifteen touches.

We know he gets around the ground better than other blokes his size, so definitely, if the Crows can win the midfield battle, which is you know they're not the top class midfield's going head to head that hurt the Crows last week when Colin we did a number of them, number on them.

Speaker 2

They're in the middle.

Speaker 1

Yeah, Crows can win that important battle then we know rather fine.

Was a bit like Sam Darcy hard to stop the matter.

What type of defend you are?

Speaker 2

Yeah, I'm keen for those captains.

I think they're good selections fans.

But that'll just about do us.

I reckon another another team in the books.

Join the Phantoms League people Phantom Tap beat the Phantom take us on.

I'm in there, sims in there're a long way down.
