Episode Transcript

Speaker 1

The Super Coach Season is done for twenty twenty five and we've given away fifty k.

It was a hot match up, a thriller to finish the season.

We are going to talk to the number one and number two coaches here on the phantoms Lair podcast, the post Round twenty four edition.

This is the phantom speaking back again with me as they have been most of the year.

Hayden dos Chief, Muscles, Kenny.

Speaker 2

And Number one, the goat of this podcast.

The season long top of the pod there we say.

Speaker 1

Five names is here too, best woke on the pod five Names.

Speaker 3

And the raining.

Speaker 4

Marden Raining top of the pod here, dos see is actually.

Speaker 3

All summer exactly.

Speaker 1

The last bottom of the pod, the last bottom of the pod.

King of Bot for the year is the chief and you won't get until round one next year to lose that title.

How do you feel?

Speaker 2

Well, it's fine because I'm the raining top of the pod season, raining top of the pod season and getting rid of those buttons.

So you there's him.

But yeah, very happy with the season.

But yeah, a bit of a tough end to the season.

And I'm excited though to talk to the real champs of the Super Coach Season.

And the number one overall.

Speaker 1

He was you're a different top of champ but it was the it was the race.

We're all in the group chat here, I was chasing you down.

I was Naz and you were getting worried there for a while the group chat.

It was an absolute panic.

Friday Night five names.

Yep, Sam Flanders Sampans was the sub.

Absolutely melt down from Dossy ended up deciding to play Sam Flanders as the sub.

Speaker 2

Yeah, look, I have faith in my squad, have faith in the boys.

The pressure, he should have played more tome on ground.

I mean, look at the Suns, the card they've done to their season, so would have turned up if he had a full game.

Speaker 1

It was a fitting in to our battle though.

It was at the start of the year.

You said, Dane Zorko my worst pick of the season.

That was a quote.

Yep, back to back one three to start the year.

Came down to the final game of the season.

It was Zorko v McCluggage.

Whoever scored more was going to win overall top of the pod.

Speaker 2

It was yes, and the club came through.

Yep, my boy in the final game in the pan, the Pan to finish off the season.

But fan, and before we do get to the exciting part of the pod, talking to as I said, the real stars of the show, the number one overall winner fifty k Richer as well, we'll be talking to them later on.

Let's announce so they are very shortly as well.

Speaker 1

Yep, let's just.

Speaker 2

Quickly recap our round and then we'll get to as I said, the stars of the show number one and the runner up kind enough to join us on the show today.

How'd you go?

Fair?

Speaker 1

Middle of the Pod for me?

Two four nine to five A final season rank of three three hundred and fifty two down two hundred spots to finishes, could not make up any ground.

Never really recovered from that by round mid season slump start off okay, had Sherry.

A few letdowns will come in the heroes and villains.

But am I happy with how it finished?

Not really, not hugely disappointed with the rank in a tough year, but it promised a lot more midway through the year, but plenty lessons to take into twenty twenty six.

Speaker 2

Yep, so mid, middle of the pod mid, I'm just mid, You're mid all round yearlong mid.

Speaker 3

As a year on top of the pod now and I'll have this.

Speaker 4

Overs going in there the pod.

My final score was two five seven zero.

Speaker 1

Top of the pod.

Speaker 5

That is good.

Speaker 2

I'm not even going to put the cheer sound effects on for that one.

Speaker 3

It was I'll cut myself.

Speaker 2

You'll like that bloke at the footy training who just coasts for the first nine runs and then is the first one across the line of sprint.

Speaker 3

Absolutely, you know it's how bad.

Speaker 4

It's not about how you start, it's how you finish, and not about how you win the mill as well, because the middle towards the edit was getting bad.

I finish season range eleven thousand, ninet two.

Speaker 3

Oh, we don't worry about.

Speaker 1

That's very European.

Speaker 3

Yeah, well no, I just I ran out of trades when I went to Europe.

Speaker 2

You are season king of Well, we chuck that on.

Speaker 1

He's got I've got.

Speaker 3

Him a crown.

Speaker 1

You have to put it on right now.

Speaker 2

I don't think so.

But anyway, I am present the King of Bop for this particular round score of twenty four hundred and fifty five to finish off season long rank twy nine hundred and sixty nine.

Unfortunate to see top two percent, you.

Speaker 1

Say by the bell.

You a free full your team.

Very happy with that though not a bad ra from old DOSSI.

I didn't free fall as much as I did last year, so I'm going to take that away as a win for the season.

But let's get into our round twenty four and the final of the year here is in villains.

Speaker 2

Take it away, fent.

Speaker 1

My hero of the week has to be Tristan Sherry again one hundred and eighty six points.

Again, like I said last week, didn't hold him by choice, had no trades, but it's worked out very well and got me close to you.

He's the reason they got close to you and didn't keep falling.

So Tristan Sherry good hero to finish, A super coachiero who he is, we know he is.

Speaker 2

Yep, may very well be the hero of the number one overall as well had him VC.

So huge performance from Tristan Sherry back to back one eighties to finish.

There's an unbelievable my hero little was that butters Yeah one ninety one.

Speaker 3

We should have known it was going to happen.

He was always in a rock up for Ken.

He was always in a rock up for Ken.

Speaker 4

Yeah, just tattled everything absolutely, Oh you just feasted.

Speaker 3

It was yeah, well mate Ken as well, that was fun.

Speaker 2

My hero for the week Angus Clark.

My bench loophole one hundred and six points season career high one hundred and six in the final round.

I know lots of people would have been in the same boat.

Got the loophole on the friday?

Speaker 6

Was it?

Speaker 2

Very happy with that from Angus Clark.

Didn't have to worry about that score, stillbel How about your villain, Angus.

Speaker 1

Clark won you the final?

Was unbelievable?

You you happy with that?

Speaker 2

You might have had a say in the number one as well.

Speaker 1

Unbelievable.

Yep, you're my villain this week.

In the group chat, I don't even know when.

This was yesterday afternoon, just after you said Dossie almost with field Skipper again you're almost team how much?

Where's a fifty k check for the almost competition?

Then five names, Dossy said, DOSSI done five names, followed up with RP Dossy if you like it?

And then you your machine over there.

You do all your sounds with you posted the user guide in the group chat because you were going to make five names and I do it.

You control of the pod.

Produce the pod because you're going to spit the dummy halfway through the round.

Speaker 3

And he's also very angry today.

Speaker 1

He's very rumpy, bossy, grumpy.

Speaker 2

It is late.

I mean we are recording at four forty one pm Adelaide time at the moment.

A bit of a late record there for the.

Speaker 1

Boys, poor old DOSSI.

So it was going to be okay because Bomb was on ten that quarter time.

God is projected exactly.

Coach Plus projected one forty four.

Speaker 2

Good good advertisment first super Coach Plus.

Yeah, get it.

Next year, Let's wrap up our heroes.

Villain Sam Darcy.

Speaker 1

Again again he's got fifty five, of course, No what about Ross?

Can sup?

Who's gonna villain Ross?

I have a Craya in the pan.

Speaker 2

I was almost going to put McCray my hero for getting sixty and twenty percent time on ground.

Speaker 4

Yeah, just didn't like the game's there for you at one point, I thought, And there was one time I was like, hang on, what's going on here?

I talked to Mark there was on the fifty and he didn't go back.

I think tried to like hand it, no, that's it.

Yeah, he tried to like kick it to Riley west or something in the pocket and he's.

Speaker 3

Like, you never do it was like you're never going to keep that goal.

Speaker 4

It was like, go back, show you some you know balls, kick the goal yourself, Yep, slot it throw.

Speaker 1

The dog's probably all in the pen.

I reckon Weston Bulldogs is the class Byla Dale.

Speaker 2

Can join him.

Maddie Row is probably my villain though for a week so he scored sixty seven, seven points more than McCray managed in two minutes on the field.

Speaker 1

Has he arrived?

O?

Speaker 3

Yeah, someone say he still getting called hole in the ball.

Speaker 2

Oh, very disappointing from Maddie Row.

All right, it's time to get into the good stuff.

And while you're all here, to listen to the people that really got the job done this season.

In season twenty twenty five, let's wrap up who were the winners and the final ranks in season twenty twenty five of Super Coach, What's.

Speaker 1

The Goss with dos?

Speaker 2

And the winner of Super Coach twenty twenty five Duzer's Disciples Coach Blake.

Round of applause for him unbelievable season, cloverplaking, clutch overtaking in the final round of the season, a man hawk Baby who joined us on the show just last week or the week before.

Jordan beat him by twenty points on the line there, and it was the difference and mind you it was only twenty no, I mean like the players you know, oh the difference.

Yeah, well Jordan so he actually had a big round himself scored twenty six oh six, but the big difference number one had Tristan s Jerry VC the one eighty six a huge call by Blake.

Also managed to get the sneaky Angus Clark emergency, which I did play a big no, not skillful coaching.

Did play that off the bench as well, so didn't play Tom McCarthy, which was basically I mean if he won by twenty points, and that was a twenty three point difference between McCarthy and Clark.

Also was not an owner of Jack McCrae on the final.

Speaker 1

To ross line has cost hog Baby on my fifty.

Speaker 2

K ross definitely in the pan.

Maybe a bit later maybe he can put him in the pan himself.

Speaker 1

But what was he feeling.

I was out on Sunday looking at my phone, couldn't believe it.

I don't even have and I wasn't I was.

Speaker 2

Only playing to chase you I knew you had.

I was nervous enough to swim to that chase out.

Imagine being up in the top ten.

Yeah, so only twenty points difference in the end would have been a nervous wait for lockout there for both coaches.

We do congratulate both and looking forward to speaking to them soon.

But yeah, just an amazing season from all our top ten coaches as well.

Just I'll read out the names and we'll flash their teams on the screen if you are watching on the Code Sports YouTube channel.

Going through our top ten, the prize winners, Duzer's Disciples in number one, hoc Baby, number two, Birdies Boys three, Absolutely Washed four W five, Duke of Waverley who we spoll to Mitchie just last week, retained his spot at six.

Meghreng Kennigan.

I think that is in at seven, Laser FC at eight, number nine, we had Southern Bandits and the All Stars in at ten.

Speaker 1

Got about the big one though, sorry about the fifty K.

Speaker 2

League.

We had also an overtake.

Speaker 1

We're a massive, huge jump.

Speaker 2

Congratulations to Lincoln coach of zesh Frenzy coming in at number one in the Lair League.

Jumping up eighteen spots to come in two six FI five and guests get this as well.

Beat number two who was coming first last week.

Peter one point allow this in the league.

So yep, Lincoln, make sure you're get in contact with us.

I'll try and get your contact details as soon as I can as well.

There, but look, if you've got us on the DMS, just hit us up and we'll get that out to you soon.

A nice little package of merch coming your wake.

Congratulations plus well to Linc.

Speaker 3

Plus plus ding DOSSI and your troops out.

Speaker 1

Is the Harley read bubble figure going in?

Is it true that you in your rage in your age grumpy rages south and setting up the studio broke?

Harley reed?

Is that a sign?

Speaker 2

I was watching on you can see.

Yeah, he's got a red ed in.

I don't know, I hope not about omen there has fallen off the table head to cap.

One of his arms fell off as well, So yeah, hopefully that's not a sign of things to come.

Need that signature asap for.

Speaker 1

Boys Lincoln Nalaiir League.

Isaac CaCO ninety eight covering from Isaac rankin.

Speaker 2

Oh big huge bitles important to note as well.

So duzas disciple who came first had a full twenty three, including so flex we take off the one had a Tyrell Duur come in.

Thought that might be a bit of a difference maker.

Covering for Rankin was the Subtherurn scored twenty six.

I had no impact whatsoever, both of them basically rolling number one and number two thanks to flex Lex taken away that yeah, basically donut or twenty six for Duza's disciples.

There, let's have a chat to him, shall we?

Speaker 1

I think we should, And as the chief mentioning, we've got someone who knows what they're talking about.

The twenty twenty five Super Coach winner Blake is on the line.

Blake, Welcome to the Phantom's Lair and congratulations the super Coach Champion.

How does it feel?

Speaker 5

Yeah, thanks for having me guys.

Yeah, it's pretty surreal.

It hasn't really sunk in just yet.

Speaker 1

Are you a longtime super Coach player?

Tell us a super Coach history.

Is this something you've done for a while, you knew to the game, what's happened?

Speaker 6

I think I was probably about thirteen when my brother Braden got me into it, and he has a pretty sort of fully obsessed kid.

I was pretty hooked straight away.

See, I've probably plaid a bit over ten years now, and in fifteen years.

Speaker 2

You've obviously crafted the perfect formula to build a super Coach team.

But what do you do?

What do you do for a living and whereabouts are you in Australia.

Speaker 5

Oh, I'm out at South Giftslands.

Speaker 6

I work with my family on our dairy farm.

They're really great to work with and they've been always been pretty interested in my super Coach, especially this year.

I think they're on fan fullty just about as much as I was this weekend.

Speaker 1

There it is the ultimate cash care.

You are the cash care we talk about.

It's a key part of the game.

You've obviously nailed it.

How did the weekend play You said your family obviously involved in your super Coach team in the footy nature.

How did it play out?

Did you did you watch every game?

Did you put everything else off?

How were the nerves?

Speaker 5

I tried to watch as much as I could.

Speaker 6

I was working through the weekend, so I was listening to some of it just with my AirPods in And we got to the Sunday night game and I didn't have any players in it.

So I think that's when I sort of tried to tune out a little bit, which was hard to do.

And yeah, there's definitely a lot of nerves throughout the whole weekend.

Speaker 5

I don't know how much sleep I got, to be.

Speaker 2

Honest, How confident were you last week?

Heading in?

You were thirty five points behind the leader Jordan hawk Baby, who spoke to us a couple of weeks back.

Now, I know he mentioned to me that he was counting every point of difference and knew every single difference between yourself and him.

Were you the same?

Were you eyeing off the competition there and sort of seeing as this as the weekend went, who was doing well compared to your team?

Speaker 5

Yeah, definitely.

Speaker 6

I think with hot Baby he sort of overtook me earlier in the year, and from there, like we were already just playing catch up.

And yeah, I sort of had it all written out all the other teams, and I sort of knew that I had one big piled up my sleeve and cherry, but yeah, sort of hoping that a few of their players.

Speaker 5

There's quite a few.

Speaker 6

Players that they all had that I didn't have, So that made the especially sint killed a game that was quite tough to watch.

Speaker 4

Let's go back to the start of the season.

What was your starting team strategy.

Speaker 5

Yeah, it was.

Speaker 6

It was fairly basic really, just sort of sticking to rookies and premiums.

I think getting the right rookies in was what set me up that I was able to get the cash generation going sort of pretty early and start trading pretty early.

Speaker 1

Getting your cashcows right chief again there, it is obviously a trading game, very heavy trading game, regardless of what happened at the start of the year.

What were some of your best trades?

Is there one that stands out one that maybe set up your team or catapulted you in that chase of baby.

Speaker 6

Yeah, well, I thought it was probably Max Gone at the start of the year.

I got him a minute round six.

I think it was for about five hundred and eighty K, and that was sort of the big trade for a lot of the season that just sort of got me going early.

But then, yeah, like saving one trade right at the end when Brodie Grunty went down and I saw that most teams in the top ten had him, and yeah, it turned out the only the only trade I could have made to win was to get cherry, and yeah, that will certainly be the trade that that I never forget.

Speaker 1

So you trade, you've only just traded to show you back in when you returned.

Speaker 6

Yeah, so I had him up until I've until I got suspended, and then that went to Grundy and then Grundy back to charity.

Speaker 5

So that that was the last trade I had.

Speaker 6

And there was any other ruckman I brought in there, I don't think I would have finished head above third.

Speaker 5

I think that was that had to be the Wow.

Speaker 4

How about was there one trade that you thought might have scuffered your chances?

You know, like you're bad like a bad trade?

Speaker 3

What do you reckon?

The worst trade was he made this year.

Speaker 1

Because you didn't bring in did to bring in Sam Flanders or Tim Kelly or.

Speaker 5

No Flanders?

There was there was actually a couple.

I think.

Speaker 6

I think Nick Martin probably was the one.

I took some advice.

Speaker 3

So you nearly so fandom nearly derailed.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I had some intel on that before the show.

Speaker 6

I also hoping for Harry She's al Asque type record breaking performance.

Speaker 1

Were well, but.

Speaker 5

That's sort of that's just really unlucky.

Speaker 6

I think The actual worst trade I made was probably shy Bolton as a Richmond Man.

Speaker 5

As a Richmond Man, I should have known better.

Speaker 2

That's yeah, that's a big call.

I want to know, how long do you spend sort of every week looking into super Coach, your research, your team selection, you're trading, but also maybe specifically these last week or two on your captain selection as well, because one of the big calls you did make was Sherry with the VC on that last round.

How much time went into that as well?

Speaker 6

Yeah, I think I spend a lot of time, especially the start of the season, just with rookies and trading and captaincy all that.

As the season goes on, tend to spend a bit less time, this year being a bit different.

And yeah, the captaincy quite often I'm looking to see what the top one percent is doing and whether I need to play it safe and just go with the one of the more popular players, or if I needed to go for a point of difference, which I did this week.

Speaker 5

And yeah, I just.

Speaker 6

Sort of thought Cherry coming off, he had a few weeks off their fresh body, and all the other Rockman are kind of battered and bruised at this time.

Speaker 5

Of the year.

Speaker 6

Maybe you could get on top of Rob the same way he did make the previous week.

Speaker 5

So yeah, there's.

Speaker 6

Definitely definitely a lot of time put into the captaincy of this at this stage.

Speaker 1

That's an unbelievable move.

Lesson, I'm going to take from this chat and you'll win.

About saving trades?

Is that something you're going to live by now in Supercoach?

Make sure you've got trades at the end.

Speaker 5

Yeah, I think.

Speaker 6

I think you can go hard early, but you've got to try and have one or two at the end.

And I didn't like I still had ranking on the field, so I did run out right at the end, So.

Speaker 5

Yeah, I got to try and make sure there's one or two left.

Speaker 2

So now we've just had a man come back from Europe, no doubt, spending plenty of money over there.

Yeah, what are your plans with the big fifty K check you've got coming your way?

Speaker 5

Yeah, I've I's hard.

I don't know.

Speaker 6

I thought I was just gonna be winning one K like a week or two ago.

To be honest, I was really just having to stay in the top ten.

Everything's happened really fast, So yeah, I've been looking to try and buy my first house before this all happened.

So, I mean, this just goes such.

Speaker 5

A long way.

Speaker 2

Unbelievable work with congratulations again on coming number one overall in Super Coach.

Speaker 3

Even despite phantom try and do it.

Speaker 1

Please keep listening to us next year despite what happened.

Very impressive.

Bake some some good lessons there as well for all super coaches, some good insight into what it takes to win.

Speaker 2

One final the Dues's Disciples was the team name a.

Speaker 6

Nicknames when it is for a while, And yeah, I'm not too sure.

It's just I don't really like coming up with new names.

I've just rung with that for a few years now.

Speaker 2

Love it well.

It's now in the history books, the number one coach in twenty twenty five.

Thanks very much for joining us, Blake, right, mate, I enjoy us.

Speaker 4

Thanks guys, I can't believe you nearly derailed.

Speaker 3

Oh man.

Speaker 2

Yeah.

I was having to chat with him pre show, like just setting out, you know, to bring him on.

He's like, I'm like, oh, do you happen to listen?

He's like, yeahh and I listened to the show.

Speaker 7

Yeah.

Speaker 2

One of the things I listened to was trading in Nick Martin after the fan of advice, and I was like, oh, this is this is coming up.

Speaker 3

You know the people's you know, the people's fandom anymore.

Speaker 1

It's all worked out.

If that doesn't happen, there's everything else that followed.

Oh am, I funny, I need to thank me for delivering that.

Do you think?

Speaker 2

Probably not great to hear from the overall winner though, And again I think, as you said, probably the biggest move learned that we just keep saying is hold those trades.

It's so hard.

But it's almost two seasons, isn't it, super coach.

You've got the first half and the second half when almost make bigger moves in the second half when you hold on.

But as he said, he actually took the lead.

I think it was round fourteen, thirteen or fourteen, so he wasn't his first time in the lead.

He didn't just you know, come for the final final thing there he had and round fourteen Dues his disciples took the lead and then he remained in the top ten, top twenty for the remainder of the season.

So it really been around the top end for quite some time.

Speaker 1

Is that the best supercoach trade I've ever seen the two rounds got to go on for two.

How much did he win by?

Twenty twenty one eighty seven one eighty six was his trade yeap almost four hundred points and he won by twenty.

Speaker 2

Yeah, it's a massive cat, I mean, and to put the VC on him like that was a very even with the previous score.

It was a very unique movee last round just because Riley O'Brian traditionally hasn't been a super easy matchup for Rucks as well, but Sherry just went out and did Sherry things.

Ye, so ye, huge move got into w Let's have a speak, Let's have a chat without baby.

Speaker 1

It wasn't a good weekend for Howkbaby.

Speaker 2

It wasn't a good weekend, but still comes number two in super coach incredibly something.

He should be incredibly proud of him.

We're keen to have a chat to him.

Speaker 1

Now, HOWC Baby, you're on the Phantom's Lap podcast.

We are sorry that we're not obviously ringing with some better news, but still the number two super coach in the world a great achievement.

How are you feeling after the weekend?

Speaker 8

I can't believe Bloddy Angus Clarks.

Speaker 4

Has been absolutely smug as he could be about Angus Clark, Tommy.

Speaker 2

It was a bittersweet, so I knew howkbaby had him in his.

Speaker 3

It was a bit of sweet for you.

Speaker 2

No, no, look, i'll do this.

I'll do this in your honor.

Hopefully you can hear this.

He's in the pan.

Speaker 7

Yeah, he could stay in the pen.

Speaker 1

Unbelievable.

Speaker 2

You've taken it in your stride though.

Thanks for coming on now.

You were top spot nine of the final twelve rounds, including the final five weeks, so just walk us through the weekend.

It must have been incredibly nervous for you on the run home.

Speaker 7

Yeah, yeah, I was a bit other though.

Speaker 8

It was a bit mixed when the Yeah, the Thursday, Friday, Saturday was all right.

I guess I almost vis Captain Butters but thought Brundy probably had a bigger ceiling.

So anyway, we saw how that worked out.

And then Jack mccrage got named sub and actually messaged me had told me that.

Speaker 1

Was one that told you, yeah, I seen it yet.

Speaker 2

Well, I mean I saw it come up and I was like, yeah, man, he's in trouble.

You had no trades left.

I wasn't giving insight intel it was out by the Saints by that point, But what did you do?

Speaker 1

What did you do the moment when you read that message?

Was there a reaction?

Speaker 7

Ah ah?

Speaker 8

I hate to say this, but I was kind of praying to the gods that some short of injury.

And there was one where Mason Wood got the blood rule and you know, there was some intrusive thoughts there.

Speaker 7

But anyway, he.

Speaker 8

Came on in the last quarter and I mean, he's called sixty in the last quarter or something disgusting, so he yeah, I mean there was that, but when he was a sub, I was I was like, okay, I'm probably in trouble here, and then he scored sixty.

Tom Green was on like fifty at three quarter time.

He ended up on one hundred and ten.

So then all of a sudden, I thought I was back in it.

So one of my mates made a spreadsheet and you know, just eight hours of horror watching free games back to back, updating the scores as we went, and then yeah, we kind of got to the end of the Bulldogs game and I.

Speaker 7

Knew that dudes had Dale and Darcy.

Speaker 8

So that was I don't know how they combined for whatever.

It was like one hundred and ten, but that was a win.

And then yeah, pretty much worked out that unless he had vice captain Sherry or Butters, that I would have won.

And then as it turned out, he got Sherry, but the reason why he won was because of his Clark our mate.

Speaker 2

So yeah, I think there's a few pannable offenses there for you.

Definitely definitely stiff in the final round with the Jack McCrae, I mean the combination of them all and Brodie Grundy, who would have thought he was going to go one hundred and four.

Speaker 1

Yeah, against Matt Flinn two would have been hard watch, but to speak him hard watches.

How hard were you cheering Will Ashcroft against the Hawks on Sunday night?

How was that?

Take us through that of Hawthorns?

For yes, what were you doing?

Speaker 7

I was?

Speaker 8

I pretty much said, I don't care if we lose as long as Ashcroft kills it.

Speaker 7

But I had the.

Speaker 8

Live scores because dudes didn't have anyone in that game.

So once Ashcroft got to sixty one, I knew that I was ahead without.

Speaker 7

Captains taking into account.

Speaker 8

So halftime I was laughing he was on fifty eight or something, and then yeah, he kind of went missing in the third quarter for a little bit, and.

Speaker 7

Yeah, I was.

I was cheering him harder than.

Speaker 8

Hawthorn, which is saying something yeah, but but yeah.

Speaker 7

Like it was, it was a bit of fun.

It was.

Speaker 8

It was a lot of fun, to be honest.

The last hour and a half after the Hawthorn game was that was.

Yeah, God as a wreck.

I'd field my mates and we're just sitting there refreshing the art.

But yeah, no, it was a good weekend.

Speaker 7

It was.

It was a good.

Speaker 8

Experience and hopefully coming into next year where I haven't where I've actually got.

Speaker 7

A bit of experience, a bit of a plan.

Speaker 8

I don't spend the last five or six weeks without a trade because that cost me in the end.

Speaker 1

So we know, if you're listening for the first time, hope baby only played because his mate need an extra for his league.

So you are you are confirmed back into twenty twenty six.

Speaker 8

Now, yeah, I would have I would have put the boots up if I had one.

Speaker 7

Can't stop there done.

Speaker 4

That would have been the most iconic Superchurch season ever.

You know, don't take the fifty k I'm out, So yeah, obviously you know you would probably want some trades going into the final games for next year?

What lessons are you going to take for twenty twenty six?

Speaker 7

Actually, not even trades wise.

I think it's just cover.

Speaker 8

Like I had I back line cover, I had midfield cover, and I didn't have forward cover, and as it turned out, the only cover I needed was the forward line because either it was rankin or McCrae or you know, it was only the.

Speaker 7

Line that actually needed the cover.

So I mean, yeah, probably.

Speaker 8

Just trying to sort of forward plan where a bit more DPP so that if someone is injured or McCrae liked when he's a sub, you do have the option to cover, like what do is with Angus Clark.

Speaker 7

And then yeah, I mean.

Speaker 8

Not much to be honest, I was always going to be aggressive during the buy rounds, so just trying to get a bit of a like a leg up on everyone who was holding players, which I think sort of you know, scoring big in the buy rounds put me ahead a lot of people.

But yeah, keeping probably at least one trade until the last two weeks no matter what, and then just having cover on every line would probably be the two things that I'll do next year, all.

Speaker 2

Right, noting all that down for myself next year and I might be seeing you up the top end on the race home for the fifty k next season.

But now we know you don't have the fifty g's But what is the plan for the prize money there?

You mentioned the other time that we spoke to you maybe a little bit on the footy trip coming and now you're still in the race for your for your real finals in real footy nowhere.

Speaker 8

Out Oh no yeah yeah so not this week just gone.

But last week we played the top side and lost by two points and we had to win to get in.

Speaker 1

Yeah, walks win next week week one of the finals for you these I'm like.

Speaker 8

I might, I might, Yeah, I might give up soccer or something GPS.

Speaker 7

Yeah I looked at that.

But the prize isn't fifty grand is it?

So?

Speaker 2

Very fair point, very fair point there.

Thanks, thanks so much for joining us.

Take and as we said, number two overall, not many coaches can say that they've done that.

I certainly can't.

Well none of us are.

You can, and it's saying to be super proud of.

So congratulations on number two overall and super coach twenty twenty five.

Speaker 8

Jordan I appreciate it, guys, and love the content the podcast all year it's yeah, whether it's Captains.

Speaker 7

Or the Byholed Sale, it's.

Speaker 8

Been one of the biggest things in me making my decisions.

Speaker 7

So really appreciate it as well.

Speaker 1

On the touch base with Jordan next year maybe the pre season COO's team shaping up.

Listeners and the viewers might want to know how he was going.

Speaker 2

Absolutely, thanks again, mate, mate nowhere these guys see you later.

Speaker 6

Up.

Speaker 1

That's rough two points knocked out in his final and his mates over probably about to go on the footage trip with him, is hoping it's a bit extra money in it for them.

Speaker 2

How much great?

Speaker 4

If you've got the fifty k, how much money would you put onto a footag trip from that?

Speaker 3

Not much?

Speaker 2

No, that's good.

Well cup five k.

Yeah, this is the twenty twenty five Super Coach Awards show.

Guys.

We're going to go through a few categories and announce some winners of some players, then talk a bit.

There's a few interesting categories you're going to like here, I reckon sim Okay, we've got our Super Coach MVP.

Now I want to do a quiz.

There's going to be a quiz to come.

So I'm just going to announce some of the players for the Super Coach MVP for the season.

There's only two nominations here, and I think there's a clear winner.

Max gorn number one for total points this season twenty nine and thirty one played every game, averaged one hundred and twenty seven point four unbelievable nominated for the Super Coach MVP.

The only other nomination.

Can you guys guess who that would be?

Speaker 1

It has to be the winner.

Hangers Clark.

Speaker 2

Not yet, He's not might have a say in one of the other nomination.

Speaker 1

He has to be the MVP.

Speaker 2

Bond of course, number one for average despite only playing eighteen games one hundred and thirty cracked one hundred and thirty mark in Super Coach one hundred and thirty point six, five scores over one hundred and fifty and two scores over one seventy.

But I think it's got to go to the bubblehead that still survives in this year.

MAXI Gorne number one for total points went down.

As we said, the number one coach picked him up in round six for he reckons about that in the five hundred k mark, which is incredible.

We were potentially riding him off.

Some were riding him off in the first few rounds, especially when he got dominated by Tristan Sherry.

I think it was in the first round of the season max round verst or second round.

Speaker 1

Speaking of Tristan coach MVP to bring him and apologize for we just robbed him.

Speaker 2

Of the MVP season long MVP.

This is he missed a couple of games there that were critical.

So maybe the MVP for our number one, but not the season long MVP for twenty twenty five.

The Norm Smith though super Coach Grand Final performance, Zach Brothers Zach Butters is up there one hundred and ninety one.

These the nominations one hundred ninety one, Tristan Sherry one hundred and eighty six, and Lockie Whitfield one seventy six.

Now Angus Clark in the votes.

Thanks Clark in the votes too.

Just just missed out Angus Clark.

I don't know.

I think I think even though he's the second high scorer, we've got to give it to Christian Sherry yea or winning the overall prize.

As we said, number two, Ken's.

Speaker 3

Gonna put you and the allust only selectors in the pan.

Speaker 2

Got to give it to Sherry came back for those two huge games back to back one eighties gets the Norm Smith in the Grand Final performance as well.

Now I've got one here for you, sim Now I think we can allow you to give out this award, but I've got some nominations.

So it is for the the pill Pill, the point of difference of the year.

I've got three nominations for you.

I think there's probably one obvious one.

George hewittt finish your boy under ten percent.

Oh ninth, but most total points for the season averaged one hundred and twelve was a pod all season long.

Ninth, most total points across all positions.

Ed Richards eleventh for most total points, finished at nine point three percent ownership and played every game after we were worried about an injury in the preseason.

Played every game the final one.

Though.

Brody Grundy second for most total points, ended at eight point five percent ownership and never got above around the twelve thirteen percent.

I want to say, even at his sort of peak price, because nobody could the ruck positions were taken, nobody believed in it, and it was too late by the time he went up.

Who's the winner of the PU Pew of the Year, I'm going to have to say Ed Richards, Ed Richards.

Speaker 1

It had to be a PU pull for Grundy didn't get his second double Hundi.

Speaker 3

So yeah, don't Grunded Grundy strong case.

Speaker 4

But with you know, Grundy for years has been you know seven forget trying to die.

Yeah, a true few pure Ed Richard's coming in becoming a you know, an A grade midfielder.

Speaker 3

That's what we want to see.

Speaker 2

Love to hear it.

Don't have a little sting for this one.

But cash Cow of the Year nominees, and we might have a late nominee Blake with Blake coming in the dairy farmer cash cow, but this might even almost be in the quiz category because who do you guys think?

Now, this is just from Dossie doing a quick scrape of the data I've had to look through.

I'm hoping these are as accurate as possible, but I have done this manually.

Who do you guys think made the most money in twenty twenty five?

Who was the number one cash cow this year?

Max Hall, He's up there.

Speaker 7

He was third.

Speaker 2

From the data that I saw again this was just DOSSI matte Tom McCarthy.

Tom McCarthy in at number two.

There was one above which I don't think it's tough to remember.

So Tom McCarthy in at two, three hundred and thirteen point nine thousand.

He went up this year Maxhall went up three hundred k, but number one Zach Reid went up three hundred and eighteen k before he went down.

Got about him too, but was the number one cash cow and then we had to all jump off.

So yeah, deserveing credible.

This one's an easy one and I do have a sting for this one, thankfully.

The bust of the Year.

Who do you guys think was the bust of the year?

This is an easy one, but who lost the most money and went down three hundred and three point seven thousand dollars to be the bust of the year?

Into our just two more categories here the b BOP nominees.

Who was the best bloke on the phantoms of their podcast for the year Bebop.

There's only two nominations here.

Five names for his pre season work, press conference questions and European edition of Bihold Sale and dying his hair and dying the hair, Yeah, the cause, and then Dossie the Peter Garrett burning of the Midnight Oil that produced this podcast tonight at ten oclock solo pod dedication as well, and just all around bloke status and you guessed it correctly?

Voted no, you guessed it correctly.

The answer is Dossi.

Speaker 1

Five names best spoke on the podcast Selfie Award.

Speaker 2

This is like Donald Trump, I do actually have a quiz to finish off, just a bit of a fun quiz for some stuff that we said in the preseason.

Now this is a new edition, a new little segment of who said this?

Who said this in the preseason?

George Wardlaw to average one hundred and five second, we get there, the average, let's get I would prefer the sounds like this hanging correct, fan and did say that I think you average about sixty?

Speaker 3

Yeah a lot.

Speaker 2

The second one, Matt Roberts will be a top six defender as.

Speaker 1

A stitch up.

Speaker 2

Correct.

Speaker 1

I know where this is going?

Speaker 2

Which player?

Sorry?

Who here was incredibly high on Christian Petrarca this preseason and impressed them with some of the preseason trial matches.

So who was going to jump on Christian Petrarca this preseason.

Any other guesses the one person that didn't ever have him in their team talked him up in the tri matches.

Never owned myself.

Un Francis will outscore Zach Butters.

Yeah, five names, five names did say that as his hot take, though, I would say Dane Zorco will be a burn man who said that, Oh, wasn't me?

Was the Hipsterpster hipster came in with that take.

Now, this was a funny one.

I looked back at this who said Lockey Neil is an absolute lock and was definitely you had to pick him.

Basically, I wish I got the sting for this.

It was like I had to pick him, even myself a fan of Oh dam.

Speaker 1

What it was after the cyclone it was.

Speaker 2

A big on old little lock.

He's a locky lucky New Truther.

And then finally this this deserves enough stuff a lot, this is this is probably the worst of a lot.

Jeremy Finlayson looks, looks like prime Luke Ryan and could have two one thirties in the first three.

Speaker 1

We told you straight away that was wrong.

Straight away A good way to finish.

Enough enough, poor o, You're enough enough.

Speaker 2

Ye take There you go, fans, That's that's what we've got for being a good year in twenty five Awards show.

It has been a fun year.

Thanks for sticking around, Thanks for watching.

Finally, I think we've just finished fandom with one pan.

One pan.

Speaker 1

What a nice comment here from Luke on X.

Last year it was his first SC he had no idea what he was doing.

Absolutely got roast in my league.

Started to take it more seriously this year listen to the Lair every week, won my league and finished just outside the top four thousand cheers Lair boys left right, hashtag left right, good night.

Speaker 2

Oh so that's not even a pan.

Speaker 4

That's that's people can overcome adversity.

Speaker 1

But here won from Hawksy.

This is the closing pan of the year, Hawksy ross line for costing about fifty k by making McCray sub.

Speaker 2

It has to be.

It has to be there in the pan ross line, an all time pan.

Let's finish it off, fan.

We're going to talk some super Coach finals possibly next week, but well, who are we looking at in twenty twenty six.

Who's our early picks, who's our early longs?

We speak about it now?

Maybe maybe this can feature on next year?

Is who said this?

Obviously I got my first pick locked away.

Oh, Sammy Flanders straight back in, straight back in, under priced.

He's going to be all right.

He's clearly injured.

Plus he'll be hopefully the Mighty Weagles.

I am Archie Roberts a nice little pup he might still be a pupil next year.

Speaker 3

Yeah.

Shout out to Jasper Fletcher as well.

Speaker 2

Jasper like that, what about you fan?

I'm going to throw in another one, Mattias Philippo almost, I'm jumping back on.

I'm just going to go back to the well with all these picks.

Speaker 6

Doss.

Speaker 2

He's the thing about Doss.

He he's never wrong.

He just early.

LAWI you're a little man, never wrong, just early.

So he's found and pooh, straight back in George Ordlaw.

Yeah, talking about him.

Speaker 1

That's semi serious.

Can Vin Callahan be one twenty man next year?

Not first picked?

But is he won to then go to the uber elite level?

What about one here from the Crows we spoke about.

It's going to be cheap, said Draper, and he actually makes him grown and be a cash cow start next year.

Speaker 4

Actually one player're going to lock in if you're talking about cashtow, said Jackoe Smith.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I mean we're not talking rookies.

Come on, they pick themselves.

Come look at it.

Speaker 1

I'm done.

Speaker 3

He's done.

Speaker 2
