Speaker 2

I want to congratulate fossil Bridge High School's Will Puff.

Our Athlete is a Week presented by Bakison Shanker.

Bachison Shanker love Will's passion and their passion is justice.

Every athlete of the Week is award one hundred and fifty dollars gift card to Rally House.

So tune in Friday night at halftime Valor Ralston Valley for the next Athlete of the Week.

I understand Tyler, you and moje on the call of fossil Ridge and Regis.

Speaker 3

Right, Yeah, we had a good time, man.

I mean it was a blowout of a game, but always fun and that was homecoming for Regis.

They got a quarterback, man, they got a quarterback.

Pretty dang special, six foot four cannon of an arm, runs like the wind Rubley TJ.

Rubley's son, by the way.

Okay, well yeah, Luke, good but good looking prospect.

Speaker 2

All right, Well, the high school football season goes quick and coacher against Rasse Valley.

Are you are.

I don't know what schedule is like who's doing what games as as time goes on, but we'll have the game for you on Friday night right here on Altitude Sports Radio.

As we'll have the Lions and the Ravens tonight kicking off around six fifteen or so, So look forward to that.

All right, a rally house football Monday.

Here is Sean Pinge getting a little snippy.

You gotta understand he was asked multiple times about bo Nicks and the bad throws, and he's he's really insistent that's not that big of an issue.

Speaker 3

We all bring different things, you know, so hopefully.

Speaker 2

You know, I tell you there's the obvious.

Speaker 3

Things that I bring.

You know, work ethic and who love the game.

Speaker 2

Dan, he'll be out there.

That is definitely that.

Speaker 3

Does not sound like Sean.

Speaker 2

More like that was on bow either No No, no, cut four from Sean Payin from today, Dan, if you get that, Okay, so we just got to a lot of seconds.

Just get that out of get that cut four.

Yeah, it's a good setup.

I mean I was rolling right there.

Speaker 3

We go.

Speaker 4

About the deep ball again, yes, meaning the conversations relative with the que would be would not be those those two deep balls on third and like twenty three or third and eleven, but there were three.

Speaker 5

The conversation would be, oh, throughout the game, relative to plays we're getting in and out of location throws third down.

I mean, but uh, a lot's been made.

I think of the of the two long balls, and I'll be honest with you, and that that again drive in this morning.

That'd be like fifty fiftieth on my to do list item.

Speaker 3

But would you have like won the football game if you connected on one of three not two?

Yes, three?

Speaker 2

Just to be clear, it's fiftieth on his list.

Speaker 6

Yeah, Well, the fifty those list is trying to tell us that you're stupid.

Speaker 3

That just means you're stupid.

I mean, listen, I don't expect a quarterback to connect on everyd ball.

There's a reason why they're tough.

There's a reason why you only throw them three, three or four times a game.

If that so, I get it, man.

I mean you you you airbail one, no big deal, but you get three cracks at it.

Shoot, I'd like to think you make one out of three free throw Scott, or maybe maybe one out of three threes, right, I mean one out of three three pointers for a big guy.

Well, back in the day.

Speaker 6

You can, but right now I can make one out of three free throws for sure.

It'd be easy.

Speaker 2

Easier to make.

Speaker 3

Dream last night, really a air balled at three pointer.

It was like it was like it was like a childhood like nightmare dream.

Yeah, I don't know, I was.

I think so.

I think I was in high school and I like shot put it that thing.

It just it didn't go well.

It didn't go well.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I still have anxiety about taking tests.

Speaker 3

You guys.

Are you guys ever have like a recream sports nightmare dream?

I had one with baseball.

I had one with baseball, and I'd always I just smoke one.

I'd smoke a liner, you know, right down the left field line.

You're around in first base, and all of a sudden, my feet would get like stuck in the mud and I literally couldn't run, and I'd be like just trying to get to second base.

Should being easy, I should be getting the third really easily, but it just couldn't get the third because my feet got stuck in the mud.

It was terrible.

Speaker 2

That's weird.

Yeah, you know I played no no no, No, I know, I know you did.

It's just weird that that's the sport that gave you the most anxiety that.

Speaker 3

Well, baseball is my first love.

I wanted to be a picture that was that was my first love.

Speaker 2

Yeah.

Speaker 6

I kept having a recurring dream that my brothers were swimming in the swimming pool and there were sharks in there and I was trying to get him to get get out of the pool and they wouldn't never get out of the pool.

Speaker 3

Those sharks in those pools.

Speaker 2

I don't know if I even believe you on that recur.

Speaker 6

Well, that's true.

I used to have when I was younger.

I had that multiple times.

That's what I told you said.

It means that you're trying to take care of your brothers and you don't think you can.

Speaker 3

I dreamt that things were gonna be different for the Broncos this year.

That didn't happen.

Speaker 2

It's not over.

We got a long way to go here, long way to go.

But I'm trying to calm down a little because the more that you talk about it, THEO like more like unreasonably pissed off.

Speaker 3

That's because you're missing overreaction.

Monday.

Speaker 6

We can we can do those things I did a few weeks ago.

Your overreaction is this is going the absolutely wrong direction, and I don't know what stops it.

Speaker 2

Two in one, you should have been two and one after three weeks, so you're you're behind the eight ball here.

Speaker 3

Sorry, you should have.

Speaker 2

You before the season started.

You were looking at the schedule, and I think most people would say, hey, two and one.

Speaker 3

Charger, if you're talking preseason, sure season, based off health.

The game's unfolded, you should have been three and Oh.

Speaker 6

I kind of had them one and two, one and three, So I'm actually good because I think and.

Speaker 2

Two, well, as it turns out you catch a break because of Burrow.

Then yeah, Eagles on the road, All right, let's just say that's a loss.

So you're two and three.

They should beat the Jets in England hopefully.

The Giants appear to be a little bit of a mess, although entertaining, there's still a mess.

So theoretically there's four and three they Jets.

Speaker 3

Is non gimme anymore, though, I mean.

Speaker 2

I don't think any of these games are gimmes for the Broncos.

Speaker 3

Jets played the Bucks real tough.

Speaker 2

The Broncos had their gimme game.

They already had it against the Titans.

That was their gimme game, and that that was.

Speaker 3

A lot more dramatic that Bengals feels like a gimme game.

Yeah, Bengals now feel like a gimme game.

Yeah now yeah, yeah, I hope.

Speaker 2

So that'd be great.

I mean, I think it's like, you gotta have it.

They just last forty eight to no, I hate, I get it.

I mean, it's it's one of those you gotta have.

Like you don't have to beat the Eagles on the road, not really, but you gotta take this game against the Bengals, no doubt about it.

I make the argument you gotta take the game against the Jets and the Giants.

Speaker 3

You're zero and two on the road, right, and you got to win at least four games on the road.

So where they coming pick them, right.

Speaker 2

And it'd be tough.

Now, I mean Vegas, Jeff Jets.

Technically is Jacksonville a home game or road game?

That's a home game.

We don't have our schedule right here.

Speaker 3

Well that's gonna be you know they pound at Houston, right.

Speaker 2

Yeah, how about Houston kind of going down the toilet?

Speaker 3

Huh, that's a road game, yeah, Jacksonville.

Speaker 6

So there's three, right, But they're playing better.

I'm not a big believer in Lord.

Speaker 2

And you know who's not good?

And they won last night and it was just annoying.

As the Kansas City Chiefs.

They ain't that good.

So how about picking that one up?

At least split with them more than that?

How about sweeping them, about taking them, about taking the Raiders?

You know, they're they're they're garbage there.

They ain't doing nothing.

That thing is going to implode.

I listen, there's a long way to go.

But here's here's the truth.

Here's the truth.

BO can't play like this.

He's got to be better.

The team is good enough, and you know what, Bo's good enough.

Bo's better than this, he really is, I don't know, but he got to prove it well.

I mean, does he have the ability to be better than this?

I would say yes, of course, but I would disagree with the premise that he's better than this because we have now seen two and a half worth, two and a half months worth of football that looks the exact same.

So I think this is just who he is.

Well, if this is it, then we got to rinse and repeat and draft a quarterback.

No, no, no, this was not good enough.

Speaker 3

But what I mean by that is that's who he is today, right like, like, can can he improve?

Yeah?

Man, I mean who knows when the leap's gonna come.

And I think that still can't come.

But the immediate future does not look great because we've got two and a half months worth of evidence.

This is who he's been.

Speaker 2

Okay, Well, like I told you guys, I want him drafted.

But if he ain't the guy, we can move on.

Speaker 3

I don't know.

I mean, that's not what I'm saying.

I mean, if that's how you where you're at.

Speaker 2

Right now, that is where that is exactly where I'm at.

Speaker 3

Right Well, that's I mean, come on, man, I mean you're riding the wave a little bit too hard.

Speaker 2

I mean, hey man, you don't have to twist my arm to put Sidham in there.

If that's what it's going to take.

I just you just can't have three games in a row where you're you got subpark quarterback play.

That sucks, man, Three games in a row after a very mediocre camp?

Yep, what are we doing here?

What are we doing here?

So fine?

Click in, let's see it.

Let's see it.

I got bow on the sideline.

I saw a video of him, you know, mouthing or you know, lip reading.

You know, we had so many chances, like, yeah, you did, you did?

You did have so many chances.

Speaker 3

It's just I'm not acting like I'm malone here.

I'm sure every Broncos fan in the world felt the exact same way.

But I literally tweeted it out after after that third best opportunity, settle for three points.

Just tweet it out.

You just know, when you've got a chance to go up by two scores as many chances as they had, it's gonna come back to bite you, no doubt, no doubt.

And of course it came back to bite him.

Of course it did.

It's freaking justin herban.

Of course it did.

Speaker 2

As soon as a man raise your hand, How should I do this?

When le Broncos punted with three minutes to go, didn't we all think the same thing?

Didn't we all sit there and be like, well, they're gonna field goal.

Speaker 3

I still had hope.

Speaker 2

You did, Yeah, you thought they were gonna stop the Chargers?

Speaker 3

Then I did.

The defense had been playing pretty well.

I mean, I was nervous don't get me wrong, because I knew that they had their chance to go up by two scores, isn't it.

But I'm just saying I didn't feel like the game was over when you punted it.

Speaker 2

Well, surgical precision, Herbert, just ding dong dunk, ding dong, boo boop kick like it was nothing.

Here is it was nothing?

Speaker 6

Listen, there's a whole lot.

Let me tell you, give you a little quick story, and then I we'll tell you why.

I'm telling a story.

When I was in high school, my senior year, me and my buddy took hole mick okay, because we had we had a class.

Speaker 2

You had to take my senior year as an elective.

Speaker 6

You took home as an elected because all the girls take home at Well, let me get the story.

We made a pumpkin pie.

A buddy died.

We were cooking partners.

This pumpkin pie had a crevass in the middle of it that looked like the Grand Canyon right just right down the middle of the thing.

Speaker 3

What did we do?

Speaker 6

Covered that sucker up whipped cream all over the top to hide the crevass.

Boom, hit it up good.

Last year they won ten games and got to the playoffs.

Was that the whipped cream?

The record?

Speaker 3

The whipped cream that that is that hid the crevass that we're talking about now.

Speaker 2

The cream made have been that Chiefs game at the end of the year.

Speaker 6

Well for some, but they were still one and seven last year against teams with the winning record and two and six and one score games.

They are now with Bonnecks two and eight in one score game games and one in nine against teams above five.

Honey, that's the whip cream.

You still won ten games last year.

But if we're looking deeper and you and you said, I don't know he or Tyler, you know, not a good team or they're in that funky grouping in the middle.

Good teams beat other good teams, Bow and.

Speaker 3

Sean, have you had to beat really good teams.

Speaker 6

The one win and one and seven last year was the Chiefs when they played nobody Scott.

Speaker 3

That was a phenomenal homech.

Speaker 2

Thank you dude, that that Chiefs game was a varsity blues whip cream game.

Speaker 3

Yeah.

Speaker 6

So so listen, here's the real We're forgetting the big crack in the pumpkin pie.

Speaker 2

Don't forget that.

Speaker 6

And we've just covered a oh ten wins and got to the post how they doing that postseason game?

And by the way, that record ain't counting the Buffalo Bill game because that was postseason.

Speaker 2

I got you.

Speaker 6

We can make it one to ten now against teams above five.

Speaker 2

The points of win games and win a championship would just be ok, what's the point around here?

Speaker 5

What do we do?

Speaker 2

So last year.

Speaker 3

It was whin some games?

Get the postseason?

Speaker 2

Yeah, last year, let's forget.

Speaker 6

Forget we got the worst ranked quarterback in the league as far as throws over ten yards.

Speaker 3

Forget that.

Speaker 6

You know he led the league and passes below but behind the line of scrimage.

Forget all these things.

Put whipped cream on it.

Speaker 2

That was That was last year.

Speaker 6

Well whiped creams off And all of a sudden, you say, where's all my punkin pie?

Speaker 3

In the middle of no.

Speaker 2

Doubt about it, we need that pumpkin pie.

If it's just crevass, it could be either.

Speaker 3

I think, So what do you say?

I definitely don't say crevass.

But that sounds so much better, doesn't it sound better?

Speaker 2

It depends how big it is.

If it's big, it's.

Speaker 3

A punkin pie.

Speaker 2

Okay, it's PhD in ninety five.

Thank you to Rally House.

Had a great time there over the weekend.

Actually it was amazing.

Whatever money I made was going out the door.

By the way, it's like, oh look at this, look at that, my wife, my kid.

I'm like, okay, all right.

Speaker 3

Did the sun come down in the Rally House?

Speaker 6

Well?

Speaker 2

Yeah, because he walked like a quarter mile down the street because he lives right there.

Speaker 3

What you mean, just around the corner.

Speaker 2

There you go, Scott, good one little I got, I got that one, I got that.

I think he walked around because he knew he was getting free gears.

Well, well, mom and dad come visit on parents' weekend.

You're an idiot if you don't do two things, go clothes shopping, go food shopping.

But you're just a moron kid if you don't do those two things when your parents visit for parents weekend.

Speaker 3

So did you get you some new SU stuff?

Speaker 2

He got some new CU stuff.

Speaker 3

Well you didn't, dude.

Speaker 2

You know when I saw what was bought, I was like, you know, in my head, the cash register was like, all right, let's stay in the net positive here this weekend.

So no, I got nothing for myself as usual.

Then that mean in his apartment.

He goes, yeah, our apartment's unbelievable.

Wait wait till you see because I'm just hanging out with them.

I'm like, okay, there's like twenty people that came through his apartment, including other moms and dads that they didn't know this.

They came with the girls, and the girls brought their moms and dads.

Speaker 6

I'm like, I'm just in awe kind of So you got six or seven different parents.

Speaker 2

No, I didn't talk for them.

I mean they like, the girls barely know my kid because they're being dragged along, you know what I'm saying.

Like one girl knows like one kid in my kid's apartment, and then she brings her four friends and they bring their three sets of parents, and it was like, what is going on here?

And all the parents are getting liquored up in my son's apartment, And I'm like, what is happening here?

Speaker 3

College?

Speaker 2

And I'm realizing college is the greatest thing of all time.

Speaker 3

Now you're thinking, why didn't I pick Saturday?

A set of Friday?

Speaker 2

It was?

It was it was a man, see you so far is so great?

We see you.

It's been an awesome experience.

And I know you guys, are you know Ceeu, see you, Dad, see you?

Of course, So I'm late to the party here.

But it's it's awesome, it's really cool.

Then you saw Ralphie running out there.

Speaker 3

Ralphie was sick, man, Ralphie that that legitimately got my blood pupping.

The second run was even better than the first run of the first.

Rud was fantastic.

Speaker 2

Yeah, and the turf no problem for this, Ralphie, no big deal.

Atmosphere seemed to be great.

We didn't go to the game the game that the tickets were like.

It wasn't overly expensive, but the starting time to me was rough.

I can't go to week Tyler's going to it.

I can't even believe you're going to that one.

Speaker 3

Yeah, you know, I try to go to at least a handful of games per year.

That's just happened to be one that worked on the schedule.

Speaker 2

Well, it's gonna be an interesting one BYU's undefeated.

See you wins thirty seven to twenty.

So they did they were supposed to do.

Prime Prime was in prime mode defending Patch.

Shermer, here we go, You're ready here, Prime defend Patch.

Here we go.

Speaker 7

Ain't nobody's talking about pat tonight, you know, and that where where that went?

Speaker 3

Anybody?

Anybody give it a week?

Oh, it's gone for a week, for at least a week, right.

Speaker 7

Oh, but when we execute it's a beautiful thing.

When we don't, it's gonna be blame assessed.

So and I understand that life.

I've been in this sports world for a long time.

But I'm thankful that you got to see some wonderful plays that he's capable of making.

You got to see some wonderful calls that was made from the top.

You got to see some wonderful execution that was was uh im mint by the offensive line as well as the backs.

They ran their butts off, and I'm proud of them.

Speaker 3

I was happy for Kaden salter Man.

Yeah, I mean the game.

You know, Prime's taking a victory lap right there, the score of zero to zero pretty much then of the like, I wasn't looking so hot there for a quick minute.

I had a gal I had to be at the way.

I didn't get out until nine o'clock and I'm checking the score at like nine fifteen and it's zero to zero.

I'm like, what is going on?

Yeah, how have they not scored a single point against Wyoming and then it did explode.

And I mean they they they took control over the game, as they should.

They they won by more than the uh spread was.

The spread was thirteen and a half.

I was so they handled their business.

But uh, maybe let's not take a victory lap after beating Wyoming.

Maybe maybe let's let's take the victory lap after beating BYU.

Speaker 2

When when you guys are talking about Shermer, nobody nobody talking about Shumber today.

Huh huh huh.

That is you see, I want Prime to be the coach I do.

That's annoying.

Speaker 3

But you hate everybody, the talks and oppressor.

Yeah, you even turned on bow Nick today.

Speaker 2

I turn on bow Nicks as he deserved to be turned on.

I'm not turning on Sean Payton.

You don't hear me rip ripping on Sean Payton today.

I thought Sean Payton called good game.

Speaker 3

The end.

Speaker 2

I don't know what else is.

Speaker 3

Sae did rip on his press earlier.

Speaker 2

No, he was ripping on like he just got pissed off at like, you know, nine questions about deep balls being thrown and what are you gonna do?

Yeah, I'm not ripping on him.

You know, he can be upset about it.

No, in his decision to kick on that five minutes ago makes sense.

It's a weird one.

Speaker 3

Dude.

If you go for it there and you don't get it, you don't get it.

That's a fireball offense.

Speaker 2

You're right, you are corrector no doubt about it.

It's just one of them.

Hindsight is twenty twenty sort of moments.

No, I like Sean, I like the game plan.

Speaker 3

Hey, you know what killed the Broncos like they all killed him?

Gosh, how much time is on the clock when you had the ball in like the four or five yard line?

It was in the fourth quarter, you know?

Was that the right at the very beginning of the fourth quarter?

Speaker 6

Yeah, yeah, like when they were like nine to eleven, Yeah, something like that.

Speaker 3

You got a cord made a nice first time.

I mean, it's one thing to miss an overthrow, it's another thing to miss two or three overthrow.

But when you got the ball inside the five yard line, all you got to do is punch this sucker in and you can't pull that off.

That's a defeating feelings as an offense.

Speaker 2

I'm looking are you talking about the first the fourth quarter.

Speaker 6

Yeah, but they got their last field goal, wasn't it.

Yeah, yeah, we had the ball inside the five.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I'm looking at it.

It's yeah yeah, one yard run first and goal at the five right, ten yard penalty.

Yep, that's what happened.

And that was do you know what it was?

It was for pass interference.

Speaker 3

On Okay, okay, I remember, okay, Now I remember the series better.

Yeah, thank you.

So that definitely was a pick.

You can't actually block the guy.

He tried to actually block the guy, right, But then that ball was not designed to go to Troy because it was designed to go to Courtland, who he was setting the pick for.

Bo actually did a really good job on that play of reading it through right, Like he knew the pick was sep for Cortland.

He saw both guys taking me, He's all right, well, I guess I'll throw it to Troy.

Troy didn't even think that he was going to be an option on the route.

That's what happened there.

He literally didn't think he was an option to have the ball thrown to him.

Speaker 2

Yeah, and but that screwed you up for the rest of the drive.

Then both scrambled for a six yard run and then it's third and goal from the eight yard line.

I mean, not impossible.

And it was an incomplete pass to Troy Franklin.

And you're, yeah, I see what you're I mean, first and goal at the five.

Yeah, Like, let's this is not complicated.

We're gonna run the ball like two three times and get a touchdown or whatever, something easy.

We're getting offensive pass interference calls when the ball's in the five down.

Well, they did run the ball on first down and they only got a yard, so the the the the the pass interference was second in goal at the four.

But still you get an offensive pass interference call second and four from the four.

That's not a run.

I'll give you that.

How about that.

That's a little Sean sort of moment there, like, hey, we're overthinking things here.

Speaker 3

How would you grade the offensive lineup without going back here?

No, I'm going to do the film tonight, so I'll break down the all twenty two so I've only watched it in real time, but this definitely felt like the worst performance of the season from no line.

I did see Mike mcglinch he got beat a couple times in pass protection, but there were some lanes of the running game there were they didn't run the ball all too often.

I don't think it was a disastrous performance, but I would say it was probably the worst of the season.

I'll break it down tonight, though I'll give you a better breakdown tomorrow.

Speaker 2

How do I just not root against Prime because I don't want to root against the bus but he bugs me with some of the stuff he says.

How do I manage that?

Speaker 3

Except that he's Deion Sanders.

Speaker 2

And just be shrug your shoulders and just don't even worry about it.

Don't listen to it.

It's not that hard, all right, I got a couple more things.

Speaker 6

Well listen, Yeah, well, they say you can't change the leopard spots.

Speaker 3

I mean, he's a lie.

Speaker 2

I know I should just there's somebody up there and Boulder like, are you glad he's the coach?

And I'm like, yes, I'm glad he's the coach because he bugs me.

But yes, I'm glad he's the coach because look at look at what's going on with CU.

For the it's been awesome.

It really has been awesome.

It's awesome.

But but just like bo here in his second year, like with prime in the third year.

We we do expect the bar to be raised for all this stuff, right like you know.

Speaker 3

I don't know about raised, but I mean you expected this year.

My expectation for this year was just make a bowl game.

And that's pretty scary.

Speaker 2

Right now, you gotta figure out four more.

Yeah, I'm gonna be tough this weekend.

I'll tell you that I know, and then after that, what it?

How's my memory?

TCU?

They're all kind of hard.

Speaker 3

Let's text to Tech on your schedule.

They're all sudden surprised.

Speaker 2

About Tech had a big win this weekend Atah and you got Utah.

I think you got Tech and Utah and Arizona State they beat Baylor in a walk off.

Speaker 3

I don't know.

Speaker 2

Maybe Arizona sucks.

Who knows we did?

Speaker 3

We've got Tech on it.

Speaker 2

I think so, oh, we don't know.

My bad?

We got TCU, Sorry my bad.

Okay, Iowa State, that's what it is.

Iowa States ranked.

Utah is not ranked, but they're always to You.

Speaker 3

Got three straight ranked opponents coming up.

You got BYU, you got TCU that you got ioways tape.

Speaker 2

Look at that, oh boy, and then you got that.

Speaker 3

Utah who you know it's it's still Utah.

They were ranked last week, right, look at that being ranked and not ranked.

Speaker 2

This is a scary ass schedule coming.

Speaker 3

Up for you got a month straight of brutal football.

Speaker 2

Brutal and then I don't know is there.

I don't even know how Arizona is this year West Virginia in West Virginia.

That's no, that's not gonna be easy.

Speaker 3

Him forty one to ten at at West Virginia, didn't they?

Speaker 2

Oh?

Is that right?

Speaker 3

All right?

Speaker 2

Well good, yes, Arizona State's not going to be easy, and I don't know none of these games are going to be easy.

Well, what what is the what's where are your four wins?

Tyler?

Speaker 3

I mean I just told you I was scared, didn't I?

Yeah?

Speaker 2

Where are they?

Speaker 3

I just told you I was scared.

Speaker 6

So look at that schedule.

What do you put the over and I'll put the over and under four?

What are you taking four when it's totals?

Speaker 3

Oh?

Speaker 2

Oh on the whole year?

Speaker 3

Yeah?

Speaker 2

Where are your two wins?

Speaker 3

I'm just saying, I don't know.

Speaker 2

I don't know, bro, Like, where are your two wins on that schedule?

Home against Arizona?

Okay, there's one.

I'll give you that.

What's your next one, baby, West Virginia.

Speaker 3

I mean, I think you've got four games the end of the year.

You'll win a couple of those you got, I'd be put the bottom.

Mindes, if you want to be a bowl team, you're gonna have to beat a ranked team or two.

You're gonna have to be by U, TCU, Iowa State or Utah.

Just win your home games b B YU and Iowa State.

Speaker 2

But hey, Pat Shermer, nobody's talking about Pat Simmer this week right.

See this is where I get my prime thing here is about Saltz getting a wake up call.

Speaker 8

You were looking for consistency and leadership out of that position.

Did he almost kind of need the wake up call the last couple of weeks to get it together.

Speaker 7

Well, I'm not gonna say what a man needs.

I'm all i'm gonna say is everybody in that locker room, including me, we're accountable to one another, and sometimes you gotta hold people accountable.

Boy was transparing.

You know you guys aren't in there.

Man, You guys don't you do a good job reporting.

I'm not I'm not underestimating that, but sometimes you just don't know what's going on.

Speaker 2

Oh man, and all right, I'll leave it there.

So Salt Salter is doing stuff behind the scenes that Prime didn't like.

He must have been screwing up doing something.

Speaker 3

Well, I think what he's saying is he probably just didn't know the offense as well as he needed to.

Speaker 2

There you go, he wasn't prepared.

Speaker 3

I didn't necessarily hear it like he's doing something naughty, like he's he's not showing up to meetings or something like that.

Speaker 2

He something the code for there, Assalter wasn't prepared is the way he should be, one way or the other.

Speaker 3

Yeah.

Speaker 2

I'm not saying there's anything nefarious going on, but he was and ready he wasn't.

Maybe he was taking things for granted, who knows.

All right, I have one last Prime thing and that'll be it.

He's with the Kelsey brothers.

You ready to hear the explanation why they turned down the Ravens.

And it wasn't just the Ravens.

He broke news the Eagles apparently were interested in Shader.

Yeah, but here here is Prime explaining why he didn't go to the Ravens.

Speaker 8

Have you been keeping up with shitor in Cleveland.

What's the best piece of advice you've given him as a dad and as a coach.

Speaker 7

Be patient and be ready.

You got to be ready when it's tap.

But when it's time, you gonna know.

And it's coming up.

Speaker 3

There we go.

Speaker 7

You know, I got a prediction.

Speaker 3

Ain't no better.

Speaker 7

I got a feeling when it's gonna go down.

Speaker 8

But it's it's gonna happen, all right.

Speaker 3

Yeah, he can get a shot.

Speaker 8

And that's all you can ask for, is a player.

All you can ask for is the opportunity.

Right it is because this is all over the media.

Because I know y'all keep it a buck.

That's my love, y'all to life.

Yes, they made a big deal out of Philly called us on draft day.

Speaker 3

Okay, they didn't mention that.

I just let it get out of the bag.

I didn't know that.

Speaker 9

Yeah, okay, who was it?

Baltimore in the Browns?

They forget I know I played for Baltimore, So me and Izia cool.

So he understood that whole conversation, and he wanted to talk to Shador as well as you want to talk.

Speaker 7

To me, and I put you on the phone in your door.

I don't want to say how it went.

But how in the world can somebody fault him for saying or thinking?

Why in the world would I go back up Lamar.

Speaker 3

For ten more years?

Speaker 7

For sure, I've never said on the bench and said, well I learned a lot today.

Speaker 2

All right.

I'll laugh at that too, because I actually believe that.

I don't believe in learning by osmosis.

I think you gotta play.

I just think you know.

Speaker 3

Tough for cruity pitch though, when you're head coaching at a college like, hey, come here, I'm gonna said you because it said your best interest ju Ju Lewis is gonna pull that quote up here.

Speaker 2

Yeah, that's that's a good point.

And I'd make the argument ten years.

I mean, you'd stay there and do the best you can and see if you can't move on or you never know what's gonna happen.

Speaker 3

I you know, I'm on an island on this one.

But hey, if you've got the ability to still control your destiny in the fifth round, which is an insane thought, I think they did the right thing.

I do.

Now, now you can make the argument, who wants to go to the Browns?

Right and right?

You know it's an unstable situation.

But I firmly do agree that if I had the ability, in the belief in myself, which I probably would not if I made it to the fifth rounder.

But if I still had that type of belief in myself that I was worthy of being a starter, I'd rather be in a situation I could start.

Speaker 2

Also, all right, maybe it's just you know, listen, I get it.

Prime was a first round guy.

He was an all everything guy.

Maybe he just doesn't understand, like in the fifth round, the odds are so crazily stacked against you, you know they He probably thought he was gonna go there and easily beat out Dylan Gabriel.

At worst be the backup to Joe Flacco, who is gonna melt down and not be around.

Yeah, and Prime things, that's still gonna hap up in this year.

Speaker 3

Or you go to Baltimore or you go to the Eagles, and it's guaranteed your backup for the next four years, guaranteed.

Speaker 2

Better to be a backup than the third string guy.

That's an interesting but.

Speaker 3

That's not how you're looking at it.

I mean, you don't go to the Browns because you think you're gonna be third Now, I get it.

Hindsight twenty twenty.

Right, But at the time you're looking at it like, which is gonna give me a better chance to get on the field.

I know for a fact I've had zero chance in Baltimore with the Eagles.

Well, I think what you just said is right.

I think he looks at it up.

I'll beat out Gabriel.

Speaker 6

Right, And even if Flacke gets the start, he dankle the last year, and if he does, he ain't back next year.

Speaker 2

I'm the guy, right.

Speaker 3

It's not bad location, Their defense is nice.

Speaker 2

It's just a little naive to think that you're gonna just easily beat out a guy they took in the third round.

The guy in the third round is just gonna be giving more allowance than you because where he was drafted.

But hey, you're betting on yourself.

I can't hate on a guy who's betting on himself to you know, beat out Dylan Gabriel.

But how about the win the Browns got yesterday?

Speaker 3

Right?

Speaker 2

Like, who would have ever seen that coming?

And Joe Flacco what were his numbers?

What do you think his numbers were?

For good old Joe Flacco?

Uh?

Nothing special?

Twenty one of thirty six for one hundred and forty two yards three point nine per row, no touchdowns and interception, a quarterback rating of fifty five point six a QBR forty point five.

That's about as mediocre as you can get.

Speaker 3

Well, it's also kind of funny Dion saying, you know, I know what's gonna happen.

I've got a prediction.

In other words, I know how bad my son's team's gonna be.

I've looked at the skeedule like folks, and I've broken it down.

Flacco's gonna lose six games by this point.

Right, you're you're right, That's what I'm saying.

Yeah, Brown suck Kelsey brothers, But.

Speaker 2

What do you what do you think they're gonna do?

In a way, we go, all right, no dumb questions three or three, five of four ninety two five it's PhD on ninety two five.

All right, I got one for you guys to kick it off, and then we'll have audio of Michael Malone that's just coming out.

That's kind of interesting as soon as you get that, Dan, you didn't even do that.

No dumb questions.

First one here, how did you feel about Gabe Landeskog getting in a fight yesterday.

Speaker 7

Ain't nobody's talking about pet No Lipkin has it stolen away by magne Hill, work it across center ice and now we got a fight.

Speaker 2

Lipkin going with Landiscock.

Speaker 10

Landiscock says, don't you dare hit the best defenseman on planet Earth?

Speaker 2

The Norse got of hockey.

Speaker 10

Landiscock in a tussle with Lipkin, right by Landiskock, quite by Landiskock.

Wonder cut by Landiskock down to the ice, Cog Lipkin liftgen Sack coming from a mile away.

And when you see a Swedish great train and you're tied to the tracks, you know what the end story is gonna be.

Speaker 2

Oh, Connor, it's great to have hockey back on ninety two five.

And graduation to our buddy Raj for being part of that broadcast.

I haven't heard news about his kid yet, but we wish him the best.

My question those centers are preseason hockey and fights.

First of all, I didn't like the elbow to cal McCart and I do think there had to be an answer for that.

I actually agree with that, and I have no problems with the fights, and I have no problems with gay fighting.

Here's My problem this is all happening in preseason and in a relatively meaningless afternoon of hockey where the Utah playing because they were traveling that day was late and the game got pushed back early in the afternoon and impacted just the whole flow of everything yesterday.

So my beef isn't with gay fighting or fighting or anything like that.

My beef is what are we doing here in preseason that any of this is happening.

So my my real feeling, I guess it is just get rid of all right?

My question is should they get rid of preseason games in basketball the NHL?

What's the point?

Then?

Speaker 3

You gotta play a little bit?

Speaker 4

You do?

Speaker 3

Did you not just say just literally.

Speaker 2

Right?

Speaker 6

I always say you can't give it ain't better unless you play good brand to play play in the preseason.

Speaker 3

They gotta play.

Speaker 2

You can scrimmage against yourself and you can get in shape and just play hockey.

You gotta play games, maloney, do you think any of these people should do or get better?

Not just football?

Football is different?

Speaker 3

Oh god?

What why?

Speaker 2

Because in football you literally don't play, and hockey not only does everybody play that's on the team, but they've got a minor league system.

So if you're not on the team, you're in grand so what you're at least playing not a grand Rabbit right now.

No, No, My point is there's always a place to play in hockey and basketball, not in football.

Speaker 3

Listen, preseason is a blink of an eye.

It's literally a blink of an eye.

I don't think that they're gonna die for playing a little bit of preseason.

I don't they need to play ten games or eight games.

Speaker 6

No, do they need to play, Yes, especially game Landskog.

I think Gave wants to get out there.

And one of the things that's been missing.

Here's my biggest takeaway on the biggest thing that was missing from this team and Dan listened from the AVS team last year, was we're gonna take shots in my car and there ain't no retribution.

Speaker 3

Lando Scott Landis Scott was doing that when he was healthy.

He came back.

Speaker 6

So I don't care if it's preseason.

You're gonna hit my All Star, my All World, my Calder Cup winner or whatever the best defenseman trophy is, you're gonna hit him.

I'm popping in the mouth, and not only when I'm popping in the mouth.

I'm gonna send you to the ice.

I absolutely love it.

No, there don't need to be ten games, but they need to play and basketball.

I'm telling you, I've been a thousand I've been in a thousand practices.

It's never the same.

Everybody in practice knows what you're gonna do.

You go at the speed to get by, and then the games happen.

And you know what you do when you don't play in preseason, You start the season eleven and ten and then then you lose.

Speaker 3

All right, that's what I say.

Speaker 2

Hey, Oh, the Nuggets had preseason games last year and still started eleven and ten.

If that's where you're.

Speaker 6

They also went to Dubai or wherever they went.

Speaker 3

I forget where they were.

Where did they go?

Yeah, yeah, they went on a vacation and erupted everything.

Speaker 2

I mean, so you're you're you're cool.

That's some sort of dude that who knows if will ever really play in the NHL is on the eyes with cal mccarr throwing elbows at his face because the only situation that would happen is a preseason game.

Speaker 3

Oh you can't help dirty.

Speaker 2

That's a great moment right there.

I mean, I I agree, gave somebody had to fight the dude, No doubt you can't do that.

The guy threw a cheap shot of kill, and so you know, game took care of business.

Speaker 3

Hockey guys are good to hockey guy.

I like it.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I don't have a problem with it either.

I just have a problem with being in preseason is all.

That's all.

The rest of it's, you know whatever, it's hockey.

Speaker 3

I want you know what.

Speaker 6

Someone told me a long time ago about coaching.

Better to start hard and get softer than to start soft.

Speaker 3

And try to get hard.

Speaker 6

And I think that's I think that's with playing pro sports.

Better to come out big, strong, physical, nasty, hard, then to come out and be missed it for that.

Speaker 2

Do I hear the Malone stuff or do you want to wait on that?

Are you curious about the alone stuff?

Speaker 3

Yeah?

Speaker 2

All right, here's Michael Malone saying he wants his pound of flesh.

Speaker 1

All right, Mike, do you have a chance here to become a big star in TV?

Speaker 2

Would that be okay for you?

Or are you thinking at some point you'd like to get back into coaching.

Speaker 11

In my heart, Frank, I'm a coach.

I'm the son of a coach.

It's kept me something I'd love to get back in.

I still have a bad face in my mouth with how things ended in Denver, and I'd love to go out of my own terms.

With that being said, what I've learned over my many years in this league is how important it is to go to work every day with people you care about, you trust, your respect, and that are all pulling in the same direction.

So when I have a chance to go back into the NBA, I just want to make sure I'm working with a group of people that are like minded and here a common vision and are willing to do whatever it takes to make that vision become a reality.

And if that situation pops up, I would love to get back on that sideline.

I'm a competitor, I'm a teacher, and I am a coach first and foremost TV star second.

Speaker 3

So that felt awfully generalized, Like like it felt, it felt really big a group of people that were going to be on the same page.

But I mean, was he really not just talking about one guy?

Was he really not just talking about Calvin?

He was talking about Calvin and his minions?

Speaker 2

Okay, well, hey, the guy got fired.

He's gonna have some beefs, no doubt about it.

Anybody.

Speaker 3

Yes, he had a toxic situation.

It was I mean whether it was on Blow's fall or whether it was Calvin's fault, I don't know.

I mean probably on both of them, right, But that was not a He's actually not wrong.

Could Calvin say the same exact thing, same things if they oh.

Speaker 2

They weren't going in the same direction.

Speaker 3

Don't you think it matters who was there first?

Like I think it does.

I think the fact that Calvin got their second means you were more or less.

I'm not saying you worked for Michael Malone, but you were there to support Michael Malone.

Now, if the GM hires the coach, maybe it's a little bit different.

But I think the way it was here, Calvin should have been there to support Michael Malone's vision.

That's the way I well, I think that's what he thought.

And but there's different ways to do it.

Speaker 6

You do it through communication and talk and conversation, you know, professional disagreement if you can, but it's got to stay in that way and obviously a toxic and these guys are in human conversation.

That wasn't a professional disagreements.

I mean, wouldn't that be your interpretation?

The denler say, well, I really don't like I don't know.

Man, Well let's get back because I still like time.

But here's why I don't think that I go.

Speaker 2

This is my stance.

Speaker 3

This is my stance, and the OK Corral was in the middle.

Speaker 6

The problem was there was a gatling gun in the middle of the OK Corral and they both got I both got knocked out.

Speaker 2

And we come back.

The big question of the day is a no dumb question, and we have not talked about it with the Broncos game.

We'll get to it next
