Episode Transcript
We are officially back.
Speaker 2Hi everyone, welcome back to another episode of Astrology with Alice.
Speaker 1I'm your host, Alice bell.
Speaker 2I hope everyone had a nice summer or guess winter if you're listening from another hemisphere.
It was nice to have this breakaway.
It flew by so fast.
But then when I sat down to record this podcast, I realized how rusty I was with podcasting.
So this is actually like the fiftieth take that I've done.
But yeah, anyways, my major life update from the last couple of months is that I got a cat, so he might make an appearance if you're watching the YouTube video of this, he could come into the frame because he's obsessed with messing with the wires on the microphone.
But anyways, for this new era of the podcast, the first episode I wanted to kick things off with is talking about eclipses, and this is very topical right now because we are in the midst of eclipses happening.
We have a Pisce's lunar eclipse on September seventh, followed by a Virgo solar eclipse on September twenty.
First, into what eclipses even are, what you can expect with them, and how they define these bigger patterns or stories that unfold throughout your life.
Before we get into the main topic for the day, though, I wanted to go over changes that I made to this podcast because the eclipses have actually been happening in my second and eighth houses.
So it has a lot to do with navigating changes with my own business and figuring out how I want to pivot my offerings and just kind of change up the way I was going about running my business and approaching work every day.
So that's also another reason why I thought it was great to talk about eclipses, because there are certain areas of your chart that are going through these bigger changes at the moment.
So for me, it's with this podcast and also stuff I put out.
Just to note, with every episode of this podcast, there is a YouTube video that's a new feature that I've introduced, so if you want a more visual experience with diagrams that pop up as you listen, head over to YouTube.
I'm also astrology with Alice.
There other changes to note.
The day of the podcast that it's released is now Thursday, and I wanted to move it to Thursday because in astrology, Thursday is the day associated with Jupiter, and Jupiter is all about spirituality and things like astrology and learning and teaching, and I just thought, with the new direction I want to take this podcast in I wanted the Jupiterian themes to really stand out strongly.
So new episodes will be out every other Thursday.
There'll be two episodes a month going more in depth on these specific astrology topics, and then at the start of every zodiac season, so I'll kick this off with Libra season on September twenty second, I'll be doing monthly forecasts where I do a breakdown of the zodiac season that's coming and what to expect with each week and the major standout transits for the month.
So three episodes total a month, and always if you want to go deeper with learning astrology, I'm over on substack and I've also introduced live interactive monthly workshops on substack, which are hosted over zoom and paid subscribers get access to.
Speaker 1Join the workshop.
Speaker 2Last month, we did it on planning out your week with astrology and how to forecast for the week ahead and know what to expect in that way, and then you can also watch the recording on substack which I send out the next day.
Speaker 1So those are just.
Speaker 2Some new features across my content.
Thank you guys for your patients with me as I figured this out.
Honestly, the whole last year has really been like I've outgrown certain elements of my business.
How do I grow into this new version of what I want to work towards.
And actually, the next episode I put out with this podcast will be on how to navigate these trickier career transitions with astrology, So stay tuned for that coming in two weeks because it's just something I've been thinking about a lot recently, and I know a lot of other people are probably going through trickier career transitions and I want to talk about that more.
But yeah, let's move into the main topic for today, which are the eclipses.
So I wanted to start off by going through some basic facts that you need to know about eclipses.
So, an eclipse occurs when either a new moon or a full moon happens within fifteen degrees of one of the transity nodes, and the transity nodes spend about eighteen months moving through a pair of signs.
So right now, as of January twenty twenty five, they moved into the North, No moved into Pisces.
The South, No moved into Virgo, and they're there until the end of July of twenty twenty six when they shift into Leo and Aquarius.
So for that period of time, you can get an idea, Okay, the solar and lunar eclipses during that two year period or so are going to be happening across the signs of Virgo and Pisces.
And you could think of a solar eclipse like a supercharged new moon, while a lunar eclipse is like a supercharged full moon.
So whereas like the new and full moons really define themes you're experiencing for one specific month, because the eclipses have that longer cycle, over a year and a half to almost two year long period, these are changes that define that bigger time frame rather than just one month.
The stuff that's implemented right now this month with these eclipses is unfolding over that longer period of time, and you may have already noticed the changes that we'll get into that are represented by these eclipses starting to take hold in the weeks or even the couple of months leading up to September and just looking at a transit chart and noting where you can spot the nodes and the eclipses.
It's always important to remember that the nodes move back chords through the signs.
So we just came out of the nodes, and therefore the eclipses taking place throughout areas and Libra are happening across areas in Libra.
Now the north nodes move backwards to Pisces, it'll move backwards again next year to Aquarius and so on.
So the nodes moved backwards in the direction against all the other transits.
So that's just important to keep in the back of your mind of why it's like, Okay, why are they not in order of the zodiac.
So I just mentioned that the North node moved into Pisces, in the south node moved into Virgo back in January twenty twenty five.
But we actually got the first lunar eclipse and Pisces back in September twenty twenty four, and then we got a subsequent Virgo lunar eclipse in March twenty twenty five, and now this month we have both a Pisce's lunar eclipse and a Virgo solar eclipse and those continue up until February twenty twenty seven, so we're very much in the midst of this current eclipse cycle.
So it's like changes across the areas of your chart represented by Virgo and Pisces and planets you have there, those have already started to be brought up somewhat over the last year, and now you're continuing to build upon whatever realizations have already surfaced or whatever's already been initiated.
So moving up until the start of twenty twenty seven, you can always know that when it's Pisces or Virgo season, we're getting eclipses at that time.
So March and September really key time frames to note throughout the year of when you can expect bigger shifts, bigger changes, more important realizations to come up for you.
So I've kept reiterating how eclipses symbolized change and where the biggest shifts are taking place for you over about a year and a half to two year long period.
And right now those changes are affecting the houseworld by Pisces in your chart and the house world by Virgo in your chart, and also if you have any planets or angles in those signs, like let's say you have Venus and Pisces, or Saturn and Virgo, anything like that, or angles, so your mid heaven might be in Virgo or your ascendants and Pisces.
You can know that those chart placements, the themes of those are also getting brought up in a more prominent way, and you're learning how to incorporate that chart placement into your life better, or the themes associated with that planet or angle are just more relevant and they're going through changes themselves.
We'll get into more about what an eclipse in a certain house or across a certain planet looks like, but for now, I want to zoom out and just look at the qualities of Pisces in Virgo and how these signs of the zodiac in particular are being highlighted for everyone, no matter what your chart is over the next two years or so.
Still so, when I think of Pisces in Virgo, these are both signs that are geared towards service, and Pisc's in particular is about having greater compassion or empathy for people, whereas Virgo is doing like these practical acts of service for others.
But I would say with the South note in Virgo.
This time period that we're in in general is a lot about maybe overcoming limiting mindset you have when it comes to productivity and routine or how hard you're working and not being so hard on yourself, or have this need to always be working and always being productive and leaning more into maybe your emotional side, or developing your intuition and learning how to trust yourself in that way a lot more.
And I feel like from talking to friends and just hearing from people in my DMS and things like that, I'm seeing the Pisces Virgo themes show up quite literally, and that people want to have greater meaning in what they're doing work wise, and feeling like they have this overall purpose that they feel more connected to, or that maybe they're the work that they're doing is helping.
Speaker 1People in some way.
Speaker 2So those could also be themes that you're working to balance out to, or it could be that physical health and mental health, those two areas are just popping up a lot more and wanting to make improvements to your daily routine and your schedules so that you don't feel so stressed out mentally or vice versa, like working on your inner self so that you can show up more effectively in your everyday life.
Speaker 1It's all about how.
Speaker 2The external and how it's visible is being balanced out with what's going on inside or what's more connected to emotion or intuition.
So we can look at these themes in general, but then to take it a step further, we can apply these general themes of pieces and Virgo to the houses in your chart that are ruled by pieceson Virgo, and the houses really show the area, the two areas of your life that are going through these bigger shifts and where major beginnings might be unfolding, but where you may also be walking away from something that doesn't work anymore, like an ending may need to happen before that new beginning can take place.
And the eclipses activate these pair of houses that fall opposite to each other, and the opposite houses the themes of those houses naturally complement each other and they help to balance each other out.
So let's say Pieces and Virgo rule your Let's say you're a Pisces rising, so PiZZ rules your first house and Virgo rules your seventh house.
This two year period would be a lot about figuring out how to balance your own goals, you're developing your sense of identity and how that's working in relation to partnerships like romantic relationships, business partnerships, close friendships in your life, like how can you still maintain your sense of self while working on being a better partner, learning how to communicate more effectively in your relationships and navigating changes happening there too.
Whereas maybe with an eclipse cycle where Pisces is your ninth house and Virgo is your third house, it would be more about having this balance between expanding your horizons and in taking new knowledge, but then also figuring out with the third house themes, how to apply that knowledge in a practical way and share information and work on your speaking skills and communicating with people in an everyday like setting, or like how I mentioned the eclipses are across my second and eighth houses.
Those are the houses in my chart that are ruled by Pisces and Virgo.
It's a lot about what I value and how maybe bigger purchases that I have to make or putting money towards savings then affects how I navigate work and business and everyday expenses or vice versa.
How is the new work that I'm doing increasing income or establishing new forms of passive income.
So those are very like financial parts of the chart.
So it's always like take into consideration what the themes are represented by the houses the eclipses are activating, and how are those themes?
How might they feel almost kind of frustrating at first, Like maybe throughout the end of twenty twenty four into twenty twenty five, the start of this year, it was kind of abrupt, like, oh my god, I need to make adjustments to this area of my life.
Things don't flow as easily as they once did here.
How can I make changes to move forward differently?
And now, like I said that we're in the middle of this eclipse cycle, you're starting to find your footing a bit more.
And then by the time this eclipse cycle finally wraps up in twenty twenty seven, you may have a way better idea of how to navigate these two areas.
Speaker 1Of your life.
Speaker 2So if it still feels kind of tricky or you're finding your way still here, have faith that things will continue to unfold over the next year a year and a half.
Still, it's like you're waking up to your potential in these two areas of your life.
And then I touched upon this a little bit earlier, but I want to spend more time explaining how eclipses might play out when they affect natal planets in your chart.
So, especially right now, if you have planets in your birth chart that are in Pisces or Virgo, having eclipses hit those planets, you'll really want to pay attention.
I guess first too, does a certain eclipse hit that planet by an exact degree, and out of all of the Pisces and Virgo eclipses we experienced between twenty twenty four and twenty twenty seven, the eclipse that falls like within a degree or two of a natal chart placement, that might be the most impactful one for you in terms of feeling the themes of that planet or that angle come up super strongly.
But in general, when eclipses happened in the same sign as natal char placements, you'll also feel that theme of change or waking up to the potential of that chart placement a lot more during that eclipse cycle.
So, for instance, let's say you have Venus in Virgo and these Virgo eclipses that are coming up not only this month, but throughout this whole two two and a half year period, those are maybe having you awaken to the potential that Venus holds in your chart, Like this could be a time of experiencing relationship changes platonic or romantic, or it may be that the way you think about spending your money or how you're expressing your personal creativity, all of that's going through this bigger transformation.
Or then with a planet like the moon, maybe all that change is being brought into your home or your family life, or gaining a better understanding of your own emotions, or if your Sun is hit by eclipses, that would be really important in terms of really developing there of your Sun's sign and uncovering this new side of your identity where you may have these all of these new goals and these new interests that you want to work towards, or you're undergoing these bigger, like more significant life shifts.
And then we can blend what we just talked about together.
So the themes of a planet affected with the themes of a house in which it falls.
So to give a personal example, my moon is in Pisces and it's in the eighth house.
So not only do I have Eighth House themes coming up whenever there's eclipses in Pisces throughout this two year period.
But I also have Moon like themes surfacing too.
So how this has played out for me already is that I did move homes, which is that change with Moon theme of home living situation, but also the moving of homes has meant that me and my husband have had to figure out how to split bills more effectively and like who pays for what, and navigating this shared living situation together, which is very Eighth House like shared money, shared resources, and how that's being brought together with the themes of the Moon.
But then to give another example, let's say you have a Virgo sun in the fifth house, then maybe it would be about finding finding greater aspects of your identity through Fifth House topics like creativity or having children or I don't know, just leaning into activities outside of career that make you happy and finding yourself more in that way.
And then also eclipses to angles in your chart a huge deal, Like if you have your mid heaven in Pisces or Virgo, then you're noticing bigger career shifts unfold during these Pisces Virgo eclipses, and maybe you want to go in a completely different direction with work or set different long term goals for yourself that maybe you hadn't anticipated before.
Or if your descendant is in those two signs, maybe you're noticing the biggest changes coming through with relationships how you relate to other people, but then also the dynamics in existing relationships changing.
I know this is a lot of different moving parts to take into consideration at once.
I just want to go one step further, if you'll bear with me.
When eclipses hit a natal planet in your chart, you will also want to look at what other houses in your chart does that planet rule, because not only will the themes of that planet in the natal house in which it's placed become relevant when eclipses activate it, but also the other houses in your chart that that planet rules.
It may feel like eclipses are happening in those houses too, because there's change being introduced in those two other areas of your life.
So to give an example, I have Mercury an Aquarius in my seventh house, and at the time that I started in my astrology business, I was confused, like looking back, because I was like, oh, that's weird.
I didn't have any major second house transits.
And usually when someone starts their own business, there is there's like Saturn, there's Jupiter, or there's eclipses moving through the second house or activating it in some way, and I didn't have any of that going on at the time I started this business.
But in hindsight, I looked back and Mercury, the planet Mercury rules my Virgo second house, and that was getting hit with eclipses at the time I started this business.
So even though no actual transits were happening to the second house, because Mercury was affected by solar and lunar eclipses that year, it brought the theme of change and transformation and new beginnings to second house topics just because the ruling planet was affected.
So this is a way to note how other house topics are jumping out, even if you don't immediately see that the nodes are transiting through that area and eclipses are happening there.
It's like for anyone who has Jupiter and Virgo, you would also want to note, okay, what houses are ruled by Pisces and Sagittarius in my chart because it may feel like those two houses are going through these bigger shifts too.
Or if you have Mars and Virgo or Pisces, what houses are ruled by areas and Scorpio two?
How are you noticing you wanting to take a different approach or make changes in those two houses and areas of your life as well?
So yeah, to recap when interpreting eclipses to your own chart, first always look at, okay, what houses are the eclipses falling in?
So houses ruled by Pisces Virgo, do you have any planets or angles in those signs in those houses that you would also need to incorporate those themes intwo And then as a final step, if you do have planets in those houses and signs, what other houses of the chart do those planets rule and how were you see eclipse themes show up in those other houses as well?
Now that we've covered chart interpretation, I wanted differentiate between what you can expect with a solar eclipse versus what you can expect with a lunar eclipse, because we have both coming up, and we'll get the lunar eclipse first in Pisce September seventh, Like I said, and then a solar eclipse follows on September twenty first.
The way I think about a solar eclipse is that it's planting the seeds for something that will grow over time, like maybe what's happening at the time of a solar eclipse, so this would be September twenty first, and in this few weeks surrounding that timeframe, whatever you're starting now or new direction you're pivoting in.
The results you haven't really seen them yet, and they'll continue to grow and they'll continue to play out over the next several months or even the next year.
And also, a solar eclipse can be a very definitive ending as you move away from one thing in one situation or relationship or whatever it might be, as you embark on this next new chapter in your life, represented by all that stuff we just talked about, like the house, or by Virgo planets there, all of that.
Whereas with a lunar eclipse, I think of that as a time of heightened activity where whatever you've been doing the last several weeks, the last couple of months, even that's all reaching this turning point and it's being made a lot more visible and there may be a lot of emotions coming up or a lot of activity surfacing at the time of a lunar eclipse that maybe you just don't.
Speaker 1Get with a solar eclipse.
Speaker 2So lunar eclipse culmination of activity, things made visible, while with a solar eclipse it's the new steps in the new groundwork is being laid, but you're nothing's visible quite yet.
You've got to be patient with a solar eclipse, and then also with these upcoming eclipses and Pisces Virgo.
I want to add another layer of interpretation to this by locating where the ruling planet of these eclipses is at the time that the eclipse is happening.
So this is you could do this for every new moon and full moon or eclipse that happens throughout the year.
By locating where the ruling planet of that lunation is, that gives you further insight into maybe the overall vibe at that time and if this is an easier lunation, if it's a or if it's a bit more challenging or slowed down.
Speaker 1Wherever the ruling planet is located, and.
Speaker 2How if it's in a sign it rules, or if it's exalted in that sign, then maybe that's an easier lunation, whereas if it's in the sign of its fall or determinent or making aspects to like Saturn or Mars or other challenging planets, maybe that lunation just feels not the easiest.
So for this upcoming Pisces lunar eclipse, we'll want to look at Jupiter because Jupiter is the ruling planet, the traditional ruling planet of Pisces.
And where is Jupiter falling at the time that this Pisce's lunar eclipse is taking place.
Jupiter's currently in cancer.
That's a sign it's exalted in it can function to its full capacity, which is great news for the eclipse that's coming up.
But also knowing that Jupiter's in cancer, you can know that the themes associated with the cancer Wruld house of your chart, where Jupiter currently is moving through the themes of that house may be coming up more strongly right around September seventh too, So you could blend the Pisce's world house with the cancer world house to get a bigger picture of what to expect.
And it's also interesting to look at the trajectory of Jupiter throughout all of the Pisces eclipses that are occurring during this two year period.
So with the first Pisce's lunar eclipse last September, Jupiter was in Gemini.
Now it's in Cancer for this one, and the final Pisce's lunar eclipse that happens this time next year in the early fall of twenty twenty six, Jupiter will be in Leo.
So even though it's three eclipses across Pisces, same house, same same sign, same house of your chart, the ruling planet is in different positions for all three of those, so you may get a different vibe with each of these Pisces eclipses and not the same exact thing is happening.
And honestly, I expected this Pisce's lunar eclipse to be felt in an easier way than last year's because last year's Jupiter was in Gemini, a sign it really doesn't function well in, and now it's in Cancer, the sign of its exaltation.
So the growth and the opportunities brought up by Jupiter can be felt a lot more than they were at the time of the September twenty twenty four Pisces eclipse, so yeah, Jupiter is a key player to watch this month.
And then also for the Virgo solar eclipse, the ruling planet's Mercury.
Mercury will be in Libra, kind of a neutral sign for it to be in on September twenty first, But then if we fast forward to the next eclipse in Virgo, which is next March, Mercury the rolling planet will be in Pisce's retrograde.
So out of those two, like this Virgo eclipse probably going to be more productive and I don't know, felt in an easier way than the next Virgo eclipse, but still important to keep in mind themes coming from the Libra ruled house at the time of the Virgo eclipse, so House Rold by Virgo, but also House World by Libra because Mercury is currently in Libra.
Those are the two houses you'll want to watch with the solar eclipse.
And finally, I want to wrap up with something I find just so cool about astrology in general, is the ability to track patterns that happened throughout your entire lifetime.
So I've brought this up so far, but like with this current eclipse cycle across Pisce's Virgo.
Whatever's happening now is kind of building up on whatever may have come to you last September or this March when the first eclipses and these two signs happened.
And then finally, I want to wrap up by talking about one of my favorite aspects about astrology, which is how you're able to track patterns that keep popping up throughout the entire course of your lifetime.
So with the eclipses specifically, we can note how similar patterns are coming up now that were last fall in September twenty twenty four with the first pieces eclipse, so we can do it on a more minor level like that, and how patterns keep repeating every six months while the eclipses are still in these two signs.
But then also we can zoom out and look at, Okay, the last time the eclipses were in Pisces and Virgo was twenty fifteen to twenty seventeen.
How are we building upon what we learned back then?
Or is how is something similar coming up?
But now that we're older and have a different perspective, how are those things playing out a bit differently?
We could go back even as far as two thousand and six, two thousand and eight.
You can go back in nine year increments with the eclipses and see how those themes keep popping up over time, like over and over again, you keep getting the lessons of those particular parts of your chart.
But what I love is like how with each turn it's like, Okay, I have learned a lot more since that last transit took place, so now I'm going to approach these changes or this transit in a completely different way, with a different approach to my life.
I just love how astrology allows you to see life development in that way.
So yeah, that's all I have on eclipses today.
I hope this helped and gave you a better understanding of what to expect coming into September and what themes you want to stay focused on.
And if you want an in depth written reading about what the eclipses mean for your rising sign, that's what I do over on substack with my monthly forecasts.
And i'd also don't talk about all the other big transits happening each month.
Speaker 1But yeah, thank you again for listening, and I'll see you back here next time.
