[SPEAKER_02]: I just got literally just got back from Bear's training camp and I had this scheduled for like four o'clock by thirty.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's about to be six.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm here.

[SPEAKER_02]: Let's go.

[SPEAKER_02]: Let's do this.

[SPEAKER_02]: First, what I need everyone to do.

[SPEAKER_02]: If you haven't already, go follow my guy Scott Bear.

[SPEAKER_02]: And you can do that.

[SPEAKER_02]: Let's let me get the exact Twitter handle here.

[SPEAKER_02]: Because he's going to have your defense of recap.

[SPEAKER_02]: Because in Friday's practice, I kept my eyes stolen on Caleb Williams, the offense, Tyson Bay, Jim, what they were kind of doing.

[SPEAKER_02]: So if you want to detail recap, [SPEAKER_02]: of the defense, you can actually go to marqueesportsnetwork.com and see his written article, Scott Bear, B-A-I-R-N-F-L.

[SPEAKER_02]: You can find all of his written work, but he has a great detailed report of the defense.

[SPEAKER_02]: This shows me strictly offense.

[SPEAKER_02]: So if you're offended by offense of play, that's all you're getting in this episode.

[SPEAKER_02]: But you're going to get the most detailed report out there.

[SPEAKER_02]: I found a new system.

[SPEAKER_02]: What eight years in to covering bears camp, bears, practices, joint practices, all this stuff and taking notes where I verbatim say what's going on in the play.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's my phone will store a video file and I'm still taking like quick handwritten notes.

[SPEAKER_02]: So then what I'm doing after practice, I'm listening to my, what I'm listening to my voice recording and then getting way more detailed reports and I would just handwriting everything.

[SPEAKER_02]: And so what you can also do after this show, of course, is if you want the written content from me, go to Mark East Sports Network as well.

[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to see my, eleven, eleven, seven, nine, seven, the move of the ball period, the situational period.

[SPEAKER_02]: What happened at the end of practice, who was playing left tackle?

[SPEAKER_02]: Everything's in.

[SPEAKER_02]: So go check it out at Mark East Sports Network.com.

[SPEAKER_02]: Of course, after you hear my my report here in the video version right now.

[SPEAKER_02]: So I think what makes the most sense.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think for you guys for me and to kind of go through practice one more time is I'm just kind of got to I'm going to go through my article.

[SPEAKER_02]: And how it starts I kind of highlighted.

[SPEAKER_02]: practice in what was the actual final move the ball period for the Chicago Bears.

[SPEAKER_02]: They lined up on their own, thirty-five yard line and Theo Benedict was actually the starting left tackle at that moment in time.

[SPEAKER_02]: But what happens in these sequence of plays really summarizes what bears what the offensive output was like in today's practice against above flow pills ups and downs.

[SPEAKER_02]: And it's how it started.

[SPEAKER_02]: It starts before the bears even start to begin moving the football.

[SPEAKER_02]: This is the moves of all pairs.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's a very last period for the bears offense in this joint practice.

[SPEAKER_02]: They start off with a fall start.

[SPEAKER_02]: I believe it's Joan and Jack.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like it was a left.

[SPEAKER_02]: It was would have been the right side of the line.

[SPEAKER_02]: And Joan and Jackson was final final penalized for a fall start offense now face the first and fifteen.

[SPEAKER_02]: and of course, say attempt to another play.

[SPEAKER_02]: That also didn't go well as there was another fall start.

[SPEAKER_02]: And it looked like Theo Benedict was the culprit on this play.

[SPEAKER_02]: So first two plays of this final offensive period, you get fall starts.

[SPEAKER_02]: And guys, to be complaining, that was the symbolism, I guess, of the entire day.

[SPEAKER_02]: Because there were just fall starts, first team, second team, three, pre-snap penalties that were going on with this offensive unit today.

[SPEAKER_02]: But mixed in with that, we're also connections like the one I'm about to tell you right now.

[SPEAKER_02]: Caleb Williams finally got the offense moving the right direction with the completion to allow me to use a key is who showed good hands on a pass that was slightly behind them, but still nice hands, nice grab by allow me to use the key is number fourteen.

[SPEAKER_02]: After the reception, Benedict was out at left tackle and Bryson Jones replaced them.

[SPEAKER_02]: Don't know exactly what happened there.

[SPEAKER_02]: The Andre Swift had a carry, but I don't know exactly what was a reason for Benedict being replaced by Jones, but that also happens in this drive.

[SPEAKER_02]: So the Andre Swift gets a carry for a short gain to the right.

[SPEAKER_02]: Then Williams was flushed out of the pocket with left side pressure and through a pass to coast and love and direction in the right side of the field, those incomplete.

[SPEAKER_02]: So you have these negative plays moving backwards.

[SPEAKER_02]: The, you know, pre-snap, the fall start penalty is a completion of long days of Kia's.

[SPEAKER_02]: So the bears, they just needed something man.

[SPEAKER_02]: They needed something that's moved the ball up here to feel good about themselves.

[SPEAKER_02]: And number fourteen, a long days of Kia's provided.

[SPEAKER_02]: And the bears actually posted this on their ex probably all their social media's.

[SPEAKER_02]: But forty five yard touchdown.

[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of days at KES is able to separate from cornerback today.

[SPEAKER_02]: We just wait.

[SPEAKER_02]: There were some key blocks at the second level.

[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of days at KES goes from right to left up that left side line for a touchdown.

[SPEAKER_02]: And that's what exactly what the bear is needed.

[SPEAKER_02]: But that's what Alameda's Ekias has really been providing you guys.

[SPEAKER_02]: And then we can play on us when the bear signs Ekias.

[SPEAKER_02]: I thought, OK, an addition, but then you had Luther Burden, you have Rome, you have DJ, but Ekias has not, he's been a safety blanket, a consistent safety blanket for Caleb Williams thus far throughout training camp.

[SPEAKER_02]: Really like what I'm saying from number fourteen out there.

[SPEAKER_02]: However, after that scoring drive, the bear's offense was technically still out there for more reps, didn't last very long though.

[SPEAKER_02]: There's another offensive penalty and then Braxon Jones gives up immediate pressure, which then gets Caleb Williams sacked drive over.

[SPEAKER_02]: That's how the day honestly went for the bear's offense.

[SPEAKER_02]: So now what I'll do, I kind of told you what happened at the end, now let's go back all the way to the beginning.

[SPEAKER_02]: how this day started so that you get a better idea of exactly what was going on in Bear's practice.

[SPEAKER_02]: Let's go to the seven on sevens.

[SPEAKER_02]: First off, Caleb Williams in that seven on seven period, complete four of his five, four out of his five passes.

[SPEAKER_02]: And one of those passes ended up being a PI, passing a clearance call on the Buffalo Bill.

[SPEAKER_02]: So really, Caleb Williams did everything he could in that period.

[SPEAKER_02]: but he connected with Cole Comet in the middle field.

[SPEAKER_02]: And then he found Roman Dunesay for a shorking on the right side after he surveyed the field.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like I mentioned, the ball hit the ground when he threw a pass to a Dunesay, but there was again a PI call on the bills.

[SPEAKER_02]: And then Williams finished the seven on seven session with short completion of DJ Moore and Zacchaeus.

[SPEAKER_02]: Zacchaeus again.

[SPEAKER_02]: So four out of five is seven out seven.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's a great start for QB one.

[SPEAKER_02]: When they went into their second session of seven out sevens, you went five for five.

[SPEAKER_02]: First pass an intermediate throw, the longest pass of the day up to that point to Roman Dune Zay.

[SPEAKER_02]: The ball was a bit high, but Dune Zay did a nice job of scaring the ball.

[SPEAKER_02]: Williams and connected again with a Dune Zay on the next play for a short gain on the left side.

[SPEAKER_02]: So the key is found wide open space in the middle of the field for the third reception of the period.

[SPEAKER_02]: And then to hand seven on seven Williams completely short pass the common on the left side and then found Comet for a short gain in the middle.

[SPEAKER_02]: Williams, like I wrote in my article, took what the defense was given up.

[SPEAKER_02]: five different targets caught the ball in the seven on seven period.

[SPEAKER_02]: And really quickly, a big picture for Caleb Williams and today's practice, I thought he was decisive, got the ball out quickly.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like I mentioned, there were some high passes, but catchable passes for his first receivers, tight ends whoever it was.

[SPEAKER_02]: And made, I thought just made quick decisions.

[SPEAKER_02]: And it was interesting in the pre-practice press conference with Ben Johnson, [SPEAKER_02]: He was asked about that seventy percent completion percentage that Caleb is supposed to aim for a goal in practice and in Just throughout the season and they said they're under achieving on that But really after this practice you guys Caleb is now training in that right direction just from one practice From this practice against Buffalo bills and I it was encouraging to see that [SPEAKER_02]: And again, where could there have been opportunities for bigger plays for the completed passes that Caleb had?

[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe, but from what he did and what the defense gave him, he completed those passes.

[SPEAKER_02]: Great to see.

[SPEAKER_02]: Let's move on now to eleven on eleven.

[SPEAKER_02]: Um, so Theo Bandit was still the starter at this point at left tackle.

[SPEAKER_02]: So Theo, the starter at that final period initially gets replaced by Jones at some point and then you have him, he starts the day at left tackle.

[SPEAKER_02]: So important to remember because we're going to have a little left tackle discussion.

[SPEAKER_02]: I don't even know what to call at this point.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to say concerning to be completely honest concerning with the left tackle spot.

[SPEAKER_02]: But we'll get to that in a second.

[SPEAKER_02]: Eleven on the lemons here.

[SPEAKER_02]: Williams kept those completions going from the seven on seven period to the team period with a ten to fifteen our completion to DJ Moore off a play action bears a ten to the run the ball with DJ Moore the next play didn't really go anywhere.

[SPEAKER_02]: Swift picked up about a four to five yard game on the ground on the next play.

[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, the run game as a whole, as I know, didn't really have much success in this in this team practice.

[SPEAKER_02]: There were a couple of runs with the with the twos Tyson Bayesian and a couple of the guys there that did have some success, but overall with the number one offense, you can see all too much of the big gains happening on the ground.

[SPEAKER_02]: Williams did hit close to love them for a big completion in the middle of the field on a nice drag route.

[SPEAKER_02]: like what I'm seeing from Colson, but there is a play that I did ask him about post-practice that I think he's capable of making movie for it, but again, we'll get to that.

[SPEAKER_02]: Jones, Jackson Jones saw Repset Left Tackle, the second team offense, and Ozzie Trepello, the rookie, wrapped exclusively for the second day in the row at Right Tackle.

[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, here we go, muck, muck, uh, really good timely question here.

[SPEAKER_02]: Why has Ozzy been to mode?

[SPEAKER_02]: I thought he played well against Miami.

[SPEAKER_02]: So it's interesting.

[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, even when I watched him there, initially it was his first three plays were rough to watch, but then I thought he got better throughout the game, but essentially what Ben Johnson was saying is that he's a, he's a little bit slow out of his stance and being aggressive.

[SPEAKER_02]: at this point right now and he just has a better feel for a right tackle which guys it's not too surprising because he's played more at the right tackle position at Boston College than he did at left tackle and you know I quoted that I quoted [SPEAKER_02]: Ben Johnson's tweet about Ozzy being more comfortable, and then Brandon Thorne, if you guys are familiar with him, offensive line guru just knows the ins and outs of offensive line play, quote tweet in my tweet saying, shocking that Ozzy would be more comfortable at right tackle.

[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, at this point in time, Ozzy for me is not in the equation right now to start week one in left tackle.

[SPEAKER_02]: based off the last two practices and where he's being slotted at this point.

[SPEAKER_02]: It feels like it is a Braxon Jones Theo Benedict kind of race.

[SPEAKER_02]: Karan Amagaji is your third team left tackle and I really don't put him in the race right now for left tackle.

[SPEAKER_02]: Free spot, four, two.

[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think this has anything to do with Darna, right, to be completely honest.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think they just feel better about Ozzie at right as opposed to left.

[SPEAKER_02]: He's not replacing Darna right.

[SPEAKER_02]: I don't see that as an issue right now.

[SPEAKER_02]: Before we get said to her, I'm going to keep going with my notes.

[SPEAKER_02]: We're in the eleven on eleven period, second team offense, one of the notable plays for Tyson Bayesian.

[SPEAKER_02]: Look, I was taking notes on them, but I know a lot of people are more focused on what the starting offense is doing.

[SPEAKER_02]: But here's a play from Tyson Bayesian in the twos.

[SPEAKER_02]: Others, a screen pass at Dion Hankens, the running back blockers were out in front of Hankens had a clear lane upfield for yards after the catch.

[SPEAKER_02]: You obviously want to see [SPEAKER_02]: Those types of plays gain good yardage, right?

[SPEAKER_02]: Because I think the screen game is going to be a part of obviously a part of every offense, but a part of Ben Johnson's offense moving forward.

[SPEAKER_02]: You just want to see more success on it.

[SPEAKER_02]: You got to see the from the tubes in that specific play.

[SPEAKER_02]: The bill's starting defensive.

[SPEAKER_02]: They did rebound against Williams during the second team period.

[SPEAKER_02]: So Williams starting offense.

[SPEAKER_02]: The abandoned again was a starter at left tackle, but it's completed past to DJ Moore for a short, slant route to start the session.

[SPEAKER_02]: Then the bill's linebacker did a nice job breaking up a pass in ten to furs of keys.

[SPEAKER_02]: Really athletic play by the linebacker diving down to break up the pass.

[SPEAKER_02]: So really good play by the bills on defender there.

[SPEAKER_02]: There was a flag on the plate for a pass.

[SPEAKER_02]: I was intended to a dunzy, but I couldn't tell you who was penalized.

[SPEAKER_02]: It happened way too quickly, but there's penalty.

[SPEAKER_02]: Manungai caught a screen pass on the left side and dominated a good job.

[SPEAKER_02]: Leave blocking for the running back.

[SPEAKER_02]: Again, you're seeing these offensive linemen get out in space, making blocks on these screens.

[SPEAKER_02]: going to be a part of the offense.

[SPEAKER_02]: William's through a past behind Odunze on an end-breaking route and on the final play, he escaped the pocket to his left and tried to make a man miss in the open field before the play was blown dead.

[SPEAKER_02]: You know, that's just Caleb trying to make a play, but and you try to get away with it a little bit more and try and price because you can't really get touched, right?

[SPEAKER_02]: So we try to do it there.

[SPEAKER_02]: One of the many I have one of the many false starts of the day happen during with the bear's second team, when they took the field, but what also is happening really frequently, you guys is Tyson Beijing connecting with Luther Berlin the third.

[SPEAKER_02]: And this is an interesting [SPEAKER_02]: situation.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'll call it because Luther Burton's making plays in the second team office.

[SPEAKER_02]: He's easily the best playmaker out there.

[SPEAKER_02]: And when he's going up against backup choose, even on an opposing defense with the buffalo bills, he's he's making plays.

[SPEAKER_02]: vertical route down the field back shoulder, fighting through passing interference calls, making a catch in the middle of the field and kind of drawing out of defender.

[SPEAKER_02]: And then he gets popped, which I thought would cause some kind of confrontation, it didn't, but he's making plays.

[SPEAKER_02]: However, so is Alameday's a keyous.

[SPEAKER_02]: And it's like if you're going to get loose around the field, you would think the key is to be the first one off, but maybe [SPEAKER_02]: Maybe DJ as well, but right now, it seems, Luther's making plays a lot of days of keys is making plays.

[SPEAKER_02]: You gotta find ways to get both of those guys on the field at the same time.

[SPEAKER_02]: But how do you do that when you also have Roman DJ?

[SPEAKER_02]: Fascinating problem to have if you're Ben Johnson, but both of those guys have been making a bunch of plays as of late and it's good to see.

[SPEAKER_02]: Really quickly free spot for you too.

[SPEAKER_02]: I am not going to talk about any defense in this video only because I didn't watch a defense my partner at marquee sports got bear he his whole focus today was on the defense he has a in-depth article at marquee sports dot com on the defense all I can tell you that here I'll tell you this from the defense from what he told me [SPEAKER_02]: There were a bunch of players for the bears that got their hands on the football, creating takeaways on Josh Allen, but at the same time, Josh Allen also at point in times was able to carve up that deep.

[SPEAKER_02]: Actually, the one defensive series I saw, everybody was on one field.

[SPEAKER_02]: and man, like big play after big play, we're just occurring for Josh Allen and that first team offense versus bears first team defense.

[SPEAKER_02]: Usually happening towards that left sidelines, so the bills were coming towards our bleachers.

[SPEAKER_02]: So everything was happening on the left for whatever reason, big plays.

[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, I can't provide really much any, much input on the defense.

[SPEAKER_02]: I just know that create some takeaways, got their hands on the football, [SPEAKER_02]: And you know, honestly, both teams are drawing at each other.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like last joint practice between dolphins, it was clear the dolphins weren't right.

[SPEAKER_02]: They weren't ready for the intensity to match that energy.

[SPEAKER_02]: That was in the case with the buffalo bills.

[SPEAKER_02]: If anything, [SPEAKER_02]: The bills might have had more energy.

[SPEAKER_02]: There were a couple, guys.

[SPEAKER_02]: There were a couple of special teams periods where I think I was talking to Alex Shapiro from CHSN.

[SPEAKER_02]: I just said those were lit.

[SPEAKER_02]: They were fire guys were popping pads on the gunners fighting like there's a huge scrum like the big first big scrum of the day.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I believe it was Daniel Hardy got into it with somebody blocking gets thrown to the ground.

[SPEAKER_02]: The whole scrum comes together near the bill's sideline bears are coming over.

[SPEAKER_02]: Bills are already there.

[SPEAKER_02]: It was the first big scrum of the day, but it got feisty at there at times.

[SPEAKER_02]: No flights, except for that one I just mentioned, but it got feisty.

[SPEAKER_02]: But the bills are ready for it, which I fully expected considering they are a team that is contending for a suitable every single year.

[SPEAKER_02]: They'd better be ready.

[SPEAKER_02]: Um, oh, you meant, oh, sorry, freeze pop.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm seeing that.

[SPEAKER_02]: LB three, I'm thinking linebacker three, but alignment issues from Luther burden that makes so much that I apologize.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm an idiot.

[SPEAKER_02]: I give it to you saying that alignment issues.

[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't, I don't know.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's tough to say, man, it's tough to say if there are alignment issues.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I mean, there were a couple of times where Tyson basis like signaling and move down and that could be by design.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I don't know to be completely honest.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's tough to gauge that, especially when they're moving away, you know, from the vantage point that we have, but.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's where we're at.

[SPEAKER_02]: Really quickly, let's one more question before I get to low red one period, but it's about DJ Moore.

[SPEAKER_02]: How's DJ Moore been this preseason training camp?

[SPEAKER_02]: Haven't really heard anything.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, in that interesting, we're not hearing, you know, the practices that I've been to.

[SPEAKER_02]: And again, I haven't been able to get to all the training camp practices.

[SPEAKER_02]: I wish, but I haven't.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm kind of feeling the same way about DJ.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like, where is he?

[SPEAKER_02]: I know actually the practice before this one that I was at, which would have been.

[SPEAKER_02]: He's Friday, Wednesday's practice.

[SPEAKER_02]: He had a, you know, he had a bad drop in the middle of the field.

[SPEAKER_02]: They're starting to put him in and running back at times.

[SPEAKER_02]: Not to say that's what he's going to be, but they know that he's capable of doing that.

[SPEAKER_02]: He's still going to be a big part of this offense.

[SPEAKER_02]: You guys, I believe, but there are just other, there are a lot of playmakers on here.

[SPEAKER_02]: Luther Burns got a very similar body type to him too, but it has been, I think, a little bit more quiet than what maybe we were used to from a guy like DJ more like the connection between [SPEAKER_02]: Caleb Blooms and Roman Dunesay right now the past three practices.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's been on point.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's been it's been something to watch something that I've been waiting for too because I know Rome is a super talented wider server and obviously Caleb Blooms and number one overall pick.

[SPEAKER_02]: When he has that trust in a guy like he has been shown with Roman Dunesay.

[SPEAKER_02]: mean, man, it's going to be, I think something fireworks there between those two top ten picks from last season.

[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm really looking forward to seeing what they can do in year two together.

[SPEAKER_02]: Should be a lot of fun.

[SPEAKER_02]: All right, guys, really quickly before we get to this low red one period, I have to tell everybody, God tell everybody as my little logo here changes boom to the one and only.

[SPEAKER_02]: People always spill it wrong.

[SPEAKER_02]: It helps support more bears breakdowns every single way.

[SPEAKER_02]: Speaking of Trump, I'm going to actually open this up because I wish, I don't know how I forgot this at train camp today.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's has it was, but try and awesome drink.

[SPEAKER_02]: Awesome way to refuel after a long day of just watching practice.

[SPEAKER_02]: I sound so lazy, but yeah, try and the easy packets that go into your day job, blue bears water bottle.

[SPEAKER_02]: just shake it up and you're good to go.

[SPEAKER_02]: So check out trying to drink to check out windy city sports cards.

[SPEAKER_02]: And now let's do that and go back to the comments here.

[SPEAKER_02]: Here in great things about hip a light.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you know, you know, some things, you can see the speed man, like I'm going to be complaining.

[SPEAKER_02]: I was a group in hip a light.

[SPEAKER_02]: No, I wasn't going to talk to defense, but since we're on this discussion real quickly, you definitely see the speed.

[SPEAKER_02]: You see the physicality plays with I'm looking forward to seeing what he does Sunday night against Buffalo bills should be fun.

[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, we have cloud chasers radio.

[SPEAKER_02]: Rome will be the one this year.

[SPEAKER_02]: And DJ will be the X factor weapon.

[SPEAKER_02]: I don't mind that.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's just so much potential for Roman dudes.

[SPEAKER_02]: And like that's a guy too.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like when I'm in the locker room, I can go to for a bunch of questions.

[SPEAKER_02]: He's always been candid with me willing to break down film when I bring that into the locker room as well.

[SPEAKER_02]: So he's just a good dude, but he's a hell of a football player.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I know like even in his rookie season, him and Caleb were off at times, but there's a lot to like about what Rome could potentially, what Rome would, should I just say what Rome will do in your two?

[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, guys, let's keep it going here.

[SPEAKER_02]: We're in the low red one, low red one and then spaces.

[SPEAKER_02]: Let's see what happens here.

[SPEAKER_02]: So after the bill's committed, apparently you start the low red one period, the bears ran the ball to the left and the play was stopped.

[SPEAKER_02]: Cole Comet.

[SPEAKER_02]: was in on the plane, he did get injured.

[SPEAKER_02]: So I saw him walking off the the sideline, uh, noticeable pain, but he did return with the second team offense a little bit later, probably get reaclimated after getting initially hurt, but I'll good.

[SPEAKER_02]: Nothing to be scared about there.

[SPEAKER_02]: The bears offense come into penalty to plays later.

[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, I was saying the penalty for a thing in today's practice.

[SPEAKER_02]: Williams picked up a first down on third and six with a design QB run to his right.

[SPEAKER_02]: And then the reps ended for the first team offense after an incomplete pass in the middle of the field.

[SPEAKER_02]: Jones was the left tackle for this drive.

[SPEAKER_02]: So the previous drive, as I was talking about, was the Abendate.

[SPEAKER_02]: Now we have Brax Jones entering into the equation.

[SPEAKER_02]: Here's the one period where you did see some nice runs from the Bears offense.

[SPEAKER_02]: Ian Wheeler had a nice touchdown run to second team offense on the right side, some good blocking there.

[SPEAKER_02]: Bage in also connected with tight end germs, smith, Chris score in the left side of the field.

[SPEAKER_02]: And then running back, Britain Brown, really just signed.

[SPEAKER_02]: Also scored on a pitch to the left and finished the run by lowering his shoulder.

[SPEAKER_02]: Good run there by the Bears offense.

[SPEAKER_02]: Second team year.

[SPEAKER_02]: They started the Bears first team offense.

[SPEAKER_02]: Their second low red one period on the bill's ten yard line.

[SPEAKER_02]: Jones was a left tackle at this point in time to consecutive drives.

[SPEAKER_02]: Swift carried the ball up the middle for no gain.

[SPEAKER_02]: And there wasn't much space for that first team offense again, much rushing yards.

[SPEAKER_02]: Then Williams.

[SPEAKER_02]: threaded a pass guys to coast and lovelin in the end one in between two bills defenders.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, oh, here's the here's the, here's a dime touchdown pass.

[SPEAKER_02]: Rookie tight end.

[SPEAKER_02]: Couldn't complete the catch.

[SPEAKER_02]: I believe it was, I don't have my roster on me or do I.

Nope, not in my pocket must run away.

[SPEAKER_02]: one of the bills defenders able to knock it out, but that's a play that I know coals and lovelin can make it will make movie forward.

[SPEAKER_02]: I actually in the post practice press conference, I asked him, I asked coals and lovelin, what, what if you learned about tight windows, especially in the low red one?

[SPEAKER_02]: And this way said, they're tight.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm assuming you're talking about the drop I had earlier today.

[SPEAKER_02]: I just have to make those, like you said, they're tight.

[SPEAKER_02]: That was a great ball, great ball placement.

[SPEAKER_02]: I just have to make those, nothing really else to it.

[SPEAKER_02]: Again, there is, there isn't really anything else to it, but I know Coulson, Loven's cable, making that type of play.

[SPEAKER_02]: And when the bear's called up as number of, excuse me, number again, I'm curious to see how we rebound because it's just a quick bang bang play defenses.

[SPEAKER_02]: Punching at the ball, trying to knock it loose.

[SPEAKER_02]: Just got to make, just got to come away with it.

[SPEAKER_02]: But we'll see if he gets another opportunity.

[SPEAKER_02]: How, uh, coals and loves and capitalizes.

[SPEAKER_02]: Excuse me, is that take a little bit of my triumph.

[SPEAKER_02]: Hydrogen, if you'd like to lecture and care.

[SPEAKER_02]: Great stuff there.

[SPEAKER_02]: Um, then we have Williams attempt to hit more on the right side on third down, but came up empty on the play.

[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think the ball is really even closer.

[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what end up happening play just didn't work out.

[SPEAKER_02]: So the starting offense, though, got another like series or set of downs, but they moved the ball up to the five yard line.

[SPEAKER_02]: So they're probably just testing things out.

[SPEAKER_02]: Um, and this time, well, I'm trying to do music back in the end one middle.

[SPEAKER_02]: Caleb does a nice job of being patient with this.

[SPEAKER_02]: He has one time to throw, but then waits for Rome to clear the one, boom, wide open.

[SPEAKER_02]: Actually, I want to say wide open.

[SPEAKER_02]: He was open back middle of the end one for a touchdown.

[SPEAKER_02]: Bear score.

[SPEAKER_02]: Doomsday goes and celebrates of the fans who are waited by the ropes near the field.

[SPEAKER_02]: Bear's quarterback went right back to a doomsday on the very next play.

[SPEAKER_02]: and found a dunzy somehow which is wide open on in the flat to his left.

[SPEAKER_02]: And the ball is thrown low.

[SPEAKER_02]: A dunzy has to go low to get it.

[SPEAKER_02]: And then he like rolls into the end one and scores the touchdown.

[SPEAKER_02]: So again, Caleb, Rome, connecting, connecting, connecting, great to see.

[SPEAKER_02]: Then we have a situational period here.

[SPEAKER_02]: The bearer down, twenty seven to twenty one in the fourth quarter with one o eight remaining on the clock.

[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, bedded it, the obendet return as a starting left tackle.

[SPEAKER_02]: First play of this drive for the bears.

[SPEAKER_02]: They well, Caleb Williams just takes off.

[SPEAKER_02]: So an open lane to his left, exploit the defense for a fifteen-yard game to start to drive.

[SPEAKER_02]: progress.

[SPEAKER_02]: Good.

[SPEAKER_02]: The defense and committed an encroachment penalty and the bears get gave and gave the bears five free yards.

[SPEAKER_02]: Commet then caught a slant pass on the next play for a decent game.

[SPEAKER_02]: The bears are moving you guys.

[SPEAKER_02]: They're moving.

[SPEAKER_02]: And then, oh, no, no, actually, not yet.

[SPEAKER_02]: Then Williams had pressure on his left.

[SPEAKER_02]: This is B.O.

[SPEAKER_02]: Right.

[SPEAKER_02]: This is the abandon it as your left tackle.

[SPEAKER_02]: Ran Caleb Williams runs right and through an accurate pass is the key is towards his right sideline who ran out of bounds completion move the ball.

[SPEAKER_02]: And then then Williams found a wide open is the key is on a nice play where secure motions down from a trip set motions down finds an opening in the middle of the field to keep the offense moving guys.

[SPEAKER_02]: This is like one.

[SPEAKER_02]: Two.

[SPEAKER_02]: three, four, five consecutive plays of moving the ball in the right direction.

[SPEAKER_02]: To be completely honest, I'm like, and there was actually a father and son next to me.

[SPEAKER_02]: And they're like, oh, yeah, the father told the son, all the bears are going to score here.

[SPEAKER_02]: They're moving the ball easily.

[SPEAKER_02]: And then the son asked him, but what if they don't?

[SPEAKER_02]: And then I'm thinking like, well, how are they not going to score?

[SPEAKER_02]: They're they're moving the ball effortlessly.

[SPEAKER_02]: Here's how they don't score.

[SPEAKER_02]: However, the drive stall that threw a false start penalty in two straight incomplete passes.

[SPEAKER_02]: Williams hit a dunes eight on a vertical route down the right sideline, but a dunes eight couldn't come down and bounds because the defenders momentum push it to out of play.

[SPEAKER_02]: On the next play, love Lind.

[SPEAKER_02]: ran a skinny post, but the ball was high and fell and completely incomplete.

[SPEAKER_02]: From the bill's sixteen yard line, the bears went for it on forked down.

[SPEAKER_02]: And Williams through your pass in the dunes a direction with multiple defenders around it, around him, but the pass fell and complete.

[SPEAKER_02]: That's how the bears don't score.

[SPEAKER_02]: And that's how a drive stalls all because a fall start penalty.

[SPEAKER_02]: That was the first sequence of negative plays for the bears.

[SPEAKER_02]: That's what, again, if you listen to the entire episode and go at Marquis Sports Network.com, my articles, if you want to get the written version of it, it's all there too.

[SPEAKER_02]: If you want to see what happened, you see the flashes of good of Zeki, it's Rome, loveland, comet, like DJ, all these past catchers getting receptions, but then you also sprinkled in throughout the entirety of the day.

[SPEAKER_02]: These negative plays, these false starts, these [SPEAKER_02]: These plays that are obviously hurting the bears and not allowing them to overcome them.

[SPEAKER_02]: They need to learn how to do that.

[SPEAKER_02]: And you know what?

[SPEAKER_02]: And the last drive of the game they did, right?

[SPEAKER_02]: They had the two fall star penalties, then a huge fight as a kiss, but still two frequently were these pre-snap penalties or these quickly post-snap penalties that killed these drugs.

[SPEAKER_02]: Can't have that.

[SPEAKER_02]: And so like this left tackle competition really quickly as I wrap up this video because my fiance and I we have we have date Friday's date night.

[SPEAKER_02]: I have to hurry to hell up here, but starting left tackle.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's I at this point right now.

[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know how you can feel confident in it as optimistic as the most optimistic bears fan can be.

[SPEAKER_02]: I just don't know how you can do that.

[SPEAKER_02]: knowing that Braxon Jones hasn't looked good enough to secure the job.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's the old Benedict and today's practice was better than Jones.

[SPEAKER_02]: But is that saying much?

[SPEAKER_02]: Like really?

[SPEAKER_02]: Ozzie, your pillow is now playing right tackle after getting reps at your starting left tackle to begin camp.

[SPEAKER_02]: Try not on a godjee's name and part of the equation.

[SPEAKER_02]: And this is what, really quickly, this is what Ben Johnson had to say when he was, what, he was asked, what are you looking for in the left tack on competition?

[SPEAKER_02]: Hopefully some clarity.

[SPEAKER_02]: That's what we're looking for.

[SPEAKER_02]: This thing's gone on now three and a half weeks.

[SPEAKER_02]: I've said and I'll say it again.

[SPEAKER_02]: We'll go as long as we need to to find the right guy.

[SPEAKER_02]: But we'd like to see someone go ahead and make it clear to us that he is that guy.

[SPEAKER_02]: And we just haven't seen that yet.

[SPEAKER_02]: As a staff, there's been too much up and down.

[SPEAKER_02]: Today's practice will be a huge thing and so will Sunday's game in terms of getting some clarity there on that.

[SPEAKER_02]: We love to go ahead and solidify that spot and move forward from there.

[SPEAKER_02]: It might be one of those things where when we make that decision, it's not final for the season.

[SPEAKER_02]: It could be that we have to reassess [SPEAKER_02]: After a couple of weeks of the season or the by week, we might have to reassess that might be something that goes on, wouldn't it be ideal?

[SPEAKER_02]: But that's a name of the league.

[SPEAKER_02]: Guys, does that sound, that doesn't sound great?

[SPEAKER_02]: And I wrote right after that quote, Friday's practice only created more questions than answers.

[SPEAKER_02]: I left tackle.

[SPEAKER_02]: So you have that.

[SPEAKER_02]: Um, Theobendate is apparently right in the middle of the left tech and competition according to Johnson.

[SPEAKER_02]: And like I said, does that say more about Benedict or the current situation the bears have at left tackle?

[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to bring down Theobendate because it would be a great story for him to rise up the ranks undrafted guy injured [SPEAKER_02]: You know, injured early on in last training camp, right?

[SPEAKER_02]: And then making the team, staying with the team, being a starting left tackle, that would be crazy.

[SPEAKER_02]: But also, what does that say about Braxton Jones has been a starter in this league?

[SPEAKER_02]: Your second round draft pick that you wanted to move from right tackle to left tackle, and now you have to move back to right tackle.

[SPEAKER_02]: Not great.

[SPEAKER_02]: The other takeaway that I had from today's practice and one that it's obviously a building block, huge repairs team moving forward is that Williams looked decisive.

[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, there have been times and camps for his held on to the football in seven on seven periods.

[SPEAKER_02]: But that wasn't the case against the bills.

[SPEAKER_02]: If the online gave him time, and even when they didn't, he was getting rid of the football, staying focused in the pocket and delivering passes.

[SPEAKER_02]: And that goal of trying to complete seventy percent of his passes, completion percentage in practicing the games, it took a step forward after Chase practice.

[SPEAKER_02]: So that is definitely something you can look at from today's practice offensively and be feeling good about it for your affairs fan.

[SPEAKER_02]: So guys, that's going to wrap this up though.

[SPEAKER_02]: I hope that you guys enjoyed this episode enjoyed the, you know, just the in-depth reporting that I had from this practice.
