Episode Transcript

Speaker 1

Can I just ask you something?

Have have you come with with ill intentions today?

Because I've just opened up?

Well, you provide me with the audio.

You're the guy that does all the research and pulls out your favorite audio from the show.

You listen through to the audio commentary.

You send that to me in an email so I can load it into the system.

And I've just opened up that email and it says and it's it's red.

There's a red warning there.

This message seems dangerous.

Similar messages were used to steal people's personal information avoid clicking links, downloading attachments, or replying with personal information?

Speaker 2

What the have you come here to do?

Speaker 3

The MP three like, what what could it possibly do?

Speaker 2

Well?

Grab number one is called password.

Speaker 1

Case Get it Agate Episode two hundred and eighty three, Talk and Stargate Atlantis.

Speaker 2

I'm Mitch, He's Maddie Yao y'ao.

Indeed, I hate.

Speaker 1

To talk about Season umber four, episode thirteen, Oh, Stargate Atlantis Quarantine.

Speaker 4

Fresh disc too, Oh, I'm on a fresh disc.

Speaker 3

Disc four is the four out of five.

There's only five five discs in these seasons.

You know, we sort of looked at our release schedule, schipule the other day.

Speaker 1

And just sort of looking through.

I mean, we can see the light.

I don't want to say light at the interunnel.

Look, it's a good thing.

But like, I know, we've got a whole season five, but just you know where we are in the current year to how many episodes we've got left to go, and how often we relate.

Speaker 2

It's like, this is some scary shit.

Speaker 4

Man.

Speaker 3

We're like, I mean, to anyone here that's not Mitch and has seen the rest of this season, he doesn't know that Harmony's next week, so you know, he says, there's a light.

But well, I've got to step through ship to get out of this sewer, is what you're talking.

Speaker 2

I mean, I don't want to.

Speaker 4

I don't want to, you know.

Speaker 2

I mean it sounds like you're do want to, you know, skew.

Skew your thoughts.

Speaker 4

Though't you going in with any preconceived notions?

Speaker 1

I am skewed.

That doesn't make sense.

Chrammatically all right.

Quarantine The entire team has held captive in various locations when doctor McKay's quarantine feature accidentally sets off, locking all doors and halting all communication.

Speaker 2

This is directed by good old Martin would right.

Speaker 4

The good one, The good one, good Martin and written.

Speaker 2

By Carl Binder, A great guy love match.

Speaker 5

Okay, what do you think?

Speaker 6

Well?

Speaker 1

I liked how this episode really set out that hate.

No one is in a good position and to help.

Speaker 4

Yeah, you know, like Karen's in the wrong spot, yes, yep.

Speaker 1

And and potentially with the wrong people in a way like I know John end up having the password.

But when you're looking at it and say somewhere like okay, well, and the best people to help out when you've got Zelenka and Carter in the same room, It's like, if you're going to pair up any two people or any two people that we could see that I've trapped together, those the ones more likely to fix it.

Speaker 2

I got two geniuses.

You know.

Speaker 1

You've got Rodney great, his girlfriend in they're very smart.

That's just not her specialty, right, You've got John and Taylor, neither of them that is their specialty.

But they were with the equipment more likely to be able to help.

Speaker 3

If Rodney had been in that room, or Carter and Lenger had been in locked in that room.

Yeah, we'll have been in a two minute episode.

Perfect, you know done, We're done before lunch.

Yeah, but it's like, yeah, everyone was in the in the wrong place with the wrong person, yea, And yeah it was quite an interesting little yeah, just sort of back and forward in between to see all these different sort of dynamics.

Speaker 1

And to have Shepherd then go, No, he didn't think i'd remember his past.

And he remembers an eleven digit password.

Sorry, Tan, no, fourteen digit password because they were four birth years.

Speaker 2

And then forty two he told you.

Speaker 6

His passed word or I didn't think i'd remember it one six four three one eight seven nine one nine six eight four two.

See doesn't take a genius, It doesn't sixteen forty three easy year.

Isaac Newton was born eighteen seventy nine.

Einstein in nineteen sixty.

Speaker 5

Eighty year Rodney was born.

Speaker 6

Never underestimate to say that man's ego.

Speaker 5

Wait, weren't there other numbers?

Forty two?

What is that?

Speaker 6

It's the ultimate answer to a great question of life's universe and everything?

Speaker 1

Is that Hitchhikers?

Yeah, I've never read it.

I've not seen the movie.

I used to work in the cinemas, and so I used I watched the end credits of that movie so many times when I was, and I raced to get in there because it's hilarious and they talk about, you know, traveling from one place on the other side of the galaxy blah blah blah, and they get their and you know, they're they're tiny compared to the and they get squat whatever, and I thought, oh my god, this movie is gonna be amazing.

I think I've tried to watch it once and I just really couldn't get into it, which.

Speaker 2

But I do know that, yeah, Trivia.

Speaker 3

I I have some friends who thought it was just the greatest p piece of cinema ever to be committed.

Speaker 2

To film, and I was just like, I need to give it another crack.

I really do.

Speaker 3

But I was also skewed because in Star Trek, their equivalent that is actually the number forty seven.

In that forty seven just shows up everywhere, just everything.

It's basically it's it's in every episode you look for the number forty seven somewhere what now.

Speaker 1

Look, that was off the back of something we were already talking about.

I feel like I've got to throw it in there, because even just relistening to the last couple of our episodes, there were some references there.

There were other references there made where you like, oh, I'll get.

Speaker 2

It, that's two for this, or that's one, and I never did it.

Speaker 1

I know I am, and I'm just I was getting angry at me, I was getting angry at past Mitch for not doing it, and I'm getting angry on behalf of Brendan, who when he would be sitting there going he's the one.

Speaker 4

I'm surprised your phone's not blowing up.

Speaker 3

I know that's him just being like twenty six minutes thirty four seconds you.

Speaker 2

Were supposed to play screenshot.

Speaker 4

You know he's hitting in post.

Speaker 1

I've done a screen recording, so you know what.

I might be giving it out on some sort of soft references, but I've got to do it to sort of make up some ground.

But having said that, take it easy over the next forty odd minutes or whatever.

Speaker 3

I do have one here that I know was going to be one.

So you want to now, I mean, the fact.

Speaker 2

That we're still talking about it, does it count?

Speaker 4

I know you know we're talking about that one's save it one.

Speaker 2

Save it until later?

See how you do you know?

Save it?

Speaker 1

And I guess the other part of it, which you know you'll probably think of me as being a peak.

We're talking about different you know, storylines up going on, different couples caught up, and then you've got you know, Ronan and Keller and I think the first time before like the quarantine had happened, and he walks in there, he's cut his arm open, and she's like, I've never met someone who you know, goes as hard as you to, you know, to put himself at such risk for like no gang.

You know, you're out there just training and you're hurting yourself and no self care come on it.

And there was something about the way that Jason Mamel played it, the way that he was looking at her, and maybe because he knew what was coming in the script.

Speaker 4

The way he was like lying in the bed looking up at her were in.

Speaker 3

Pride to that just as he's sort of walking along, it's kind of like it's not like he's out there to look like some big marcho tough go like, oh yeah, I cut my arm open all the time.

Speaker 2

That makes me awesome.

Speaker 1

Like he's not doing that, and she's not impressed because that's her job, is fixing this sort of stuff that doesn't that doesn't move the needle.

Speaker 4

For impressed me much.

Speaker 2

So you got dreadlocks.

And yet I was looking at him look at her, and I'm like.

Speaker 1

Ah, yeah, I wonder if, like I never thought about that before, and that became the episode.

Speaker 3

Yeah, I had a note it was about you know, him just being very flirty, and then I forgot that that's kind of how the episode ends with them in the in the almost kiss.

Speaker 4

So I didn't even write it down.

Speaker 3

Well, yeah, the auto commentary was fun because it was Martin Wood and Amna tapping Carbinder wasn't able to do it, so Man having stepped in and she's got awful and she's just talking about how handsome Jason Muor is and she's she's like, oh so so Juell gets this, and I'm in it.

Speaker 4

I'm in the thing with Zelenka.

You know, I'm.

Speaker 2

Sorry, sorry, what's whatever?

His name is?

David Nicol, Yeah, sorry, Dave.

Speaker 3

Yeah, but yeah, she just talks and the way she describes Ronan is well, sorry, the way she describes Jason is I think very much how I would describe your brother in that there's just this natural charm and it almost feels like he's flirting with you, but he's just that's just how we hear has a natural like he's just very engaging, he has eye contact, he's very sort of you know, involved in a conversation, and I think people can mistake that for like a flirty kind of thing, whereas yeah, Amanda and this was she was just like, just jump on, Juel, just jump you, Like.

Speaker 2

I can't believe that became a thing.

Speaker 3

And then I'm like, oh, well, now like they are stuck there, how far are they going to.

Speaker 1

Take this before they still don't do anything, you know, and I thought, is it going to be a a matter of situation?

Speaker 2

But it was still kind of like we got to.

Speaker 1

That scene where she's like, oh, maybe we'll just have to pass the time, you know, getting to know each.

Speaker 2

Other, and he's like, oh, do you haven't mind.

Speaker 3

And and then she like looks down his body and looks back up again.

She's like, oh no, not that.

Speaker 1

And not at one moment did he even flinch to go Neither did I.

Yeah, I just thought maybe I had a board gave in the background.

I thought you wanted to play twenty questions, like what are you talking about?

Yeah, But I think at that moment he was.

Speaker 3

Like we could Yeah, He's like, well, you know, and then like the next Sam already in my pajamas.

Speaker 1

I'm like, I'm always wearing sleeves stuff, like I'm getting closer to being nude.

And then, you know what, a scene or two later with them when he you know, she's showing a bit of care and and and regret for not being able to help anybody, and then instantly he starts comparing her to his wife, and he was like, ah, yeah, that's right, you're you're actually remind I'm like, he was, well, he's not hooking up with her.

Speaker 3

He was very careful not to say wife that you just remind me of someone I used.

Speaker 2

To care for, care for them.

Speaker 3

She is a healer, Like you, come on, Ronan, why you got why is there a white mark on your wedding run?

Speaker 2

Yeah?

Yeah, yeah, look like you've just taken it off, you know.

Speaker 1

Yeah, there was a little bit of that going on, but still I thought, oh no, it's going to suggest like maybe this could happen, and then he's just going to see some type of I don't know, kinsmanship in her.

In the same weather he as Taylor, Like, at no stage when they're sparring, when they've.

Speaker 2

Got scenes together.

Speaker 1

Do I ever for one second have I ever thought Arona and Taylor should be.

Speaker 3

Whereas when John and Taylor are together and they're just being friends, there is a little bit of a chemistry won't they there?

And I never get that with Taylor and Ronan.

Speaker 1

No, and I know that we've only been going through it for a couple of episodes, but I'm still surprised there hasn't even been I haven't taken it this way.

Maybe other people have an inkling of like John was angry about the pregnancy because he's a little bit jealous, you know, like he didn't even know she had a partner, let alone that they were like together enough to you know, that to be then.

Speaker 3

And I think that's also why Taylor didn't tell him about the fact that she was seeing somebody, is because there was the will they won't they?

And there was a little bit of tension between those sexual tension between those two.

Speaker 2

Yep.

Speaker 3

So yeah, absolutely, yeah, I never thought that with Taylor and Ronan, and yet I'm seeing these two it I'm like, I mean, that's a that's.

Speaker 2

A that's a power couple.

I mean, this looks wise like if you're going to be the videos.

Speaker 3

On the internet I've clicked on, you know what I mean, if it comes down to Keller and Ronan, yeah, I've seen worse.

Speaker 1

Yeah, doctor, doctor and soldier.

Yeah, in in in the infirmary, you.

Speaker 3

Know, apparently there was They were kind of iffy about it on the on the audio commentary, but I think what I gleaned from it was Jason MoMA was like, yeah, we're gonna kiss.

Speaker 4

We got to kiss.

We've got a kiss.

Speaker 1

Sorry, I mean, I'm just immediately thinking of like the most awkwardly cheesy like time, not that I've ever looked at, you know, any type of adult content online.

Speaker 4

But you're married, happily married man.

Speaker 1

But I can only children.

Yeah, I can only imagine that if if if something like this was there, it would be like healer meets wounded soldier in infirmary but he ends up healing her good or something.

Speaker 2

You know.

Speaker 3

Yeah, you definitely haven't watched things if you think that's how they're titled, because it'd be Stargate Astlantis.

Speaker 1

Well, I'm sure, but that might be the that might be the title, and this is like almost the.

Speaker 4

Oh this is the scene.

Yeah, this is describing scene.

Speaker 2

But I don't know.

Speaker 3

I'm not trying to tell someone how to do their job with this is their job to name stuff on the innet, because wouldn't pssibly know that's stuff?

You know, that stuff might even be not in the Internet anymore.

Yeah, it just might be like you know, well, not in a lot of states in the US at least, No, which is where I am and China.

Speaker 1

I'm in China.

Also, yeah, I can't wherever it is, that's where I am.

I can't act, but I don't want to.

No, no, well I'd be judged by my Lord and Savior, so you know, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2

But yeah, so Jason, sorry, sorry, I just out.

Speaker 4

And somehow still made the cut.

I don't know.

Speaker 3

We say live referring to something that will happen in the future.

Jason was very much like, well, obviously we're gonna kiss, because you know, Ronan's Ronan's okay, we're gonna kiss.

So apparently they filmed it two ways where they filmed one where it was the almost kiss and then the stuff the power came back on, but then.

Speaker 2

Always right at that moment here we were as well.

Speaker 1

Like earlier in the episode where Shepherd looks to Taylor, and goes, damn it.

What every movie you see this is where the pregnant woman goes into labor.

Speaker 4

Okay, now we've got to do it.

Speaker 3

Oh what get your that's too bad, mates, Like we can hold off, No, you can bring it back.

Speaker 2

It's fine.

Speaker 1

I'm just he does that and then you're like, well, yeah, that is what happens.

And then you get later on it's like going in for a kiss.

Going in for a kiss.

Speaker 2

Oh, that's when the power of course it does.

Speaker 4

Yeah.

So they filmed both versions, but ultimately went with the no kiss version.

Speaker 2

Yeah.

Speaker 3

Yeah, they obviously went obviously went with the no intercourse version of Carter and Zelenka as well, you know, because you saw the look that he had when she took her jacket off.

Speaker 1

Yeah, she's like, oh that's better.

He's like yeah, no, no way, it's it's hot and now at all.

Speaker 3

So now I just want to point out I will take a that's too for this made.

But we're like, we're still in the teens minutes ago.

Hey, look it's not my fault.

It's not my fault.

Okay, So I look up trivia for these episodes.

Speaker 2

I haven't you know what I looked on it.

You know what, I'm not going to say.

Speaker 3

I looked on the IMDb trivia for this episode, this piece of information was not there.

I went to the star Gate wiki and this piece of information was here under the trivia.

So it's Stargate fans bringing this up, right right, Not me, not me.

Speaker 1

Some other person they're hosting our podcast says they haven't got the rules against them.

Speaker 3

The plot of this episode is similar to Star Trek the Next Generation episode Disaster.

In it, the crew is cut off from each other in different sections of the ship, unable to communicate with each other as well.

Captain Bacard is trapped in a turbo lift, much like Colonel Samantha Carter is trapped in the Atlantis transporter.

Likewise, John Shepherd mentions to a tailor Margan just after they are locked in together that in the movies, this was the moment the pregnant woman always goes into labor.

Keko O'Brien does, in fact go into labor in Disaster, it was me.

Speaker 4

It wasn't me.

No, no, no, no, no.

Nana wasn't me.

But I'll take her.

That's too you know, that's not my trivia.

That's someone else.

Put that on the star Gate wiki.

Speaker 1

Did that person make it onto the podcast thoughts account?

I brought this up at the start.

I brought this up to go.

I've got to start racking these up.

And now I'm like, damn it, we're not even at twenty minutes and you're one briefing.

Speaker 4

What do we do now that there's just two of us?

Speaker 3

What do we do if I get to it that's three Are you just gonna do a solo podcast for twenty minutes?

Speaker 4

Or I tell you that's tempting?

Maybe for Harmony next week?

Speaker 2

Is that trek related?

Speaker 3

No, I'm just gonna find three minutes.

Speaker 2

Come out and go.

But Card Jane Way and Cisco, Yeah, bag, and you'll just leave.

Speaker 1

Yeah, you'll get You'll get that three fifteen minute car park out the front and you'll be down there before you tires get marked.

Speaker 2

Yeah.

Speaker 3

I won't even turn the car off.

Yeah, I'll just keep it running at you going.

That's yeah, like you know, like I said, able to spare things for you.

But I feel like, and I talked about it maybe last season or the season before, it's like I'm the only member of the team that's been on every single episode of this show.

Speaker 4

I have not missed an episode, and I talked.

Speaker 3

About what a relief it's going to be in season four and five of Atlantas because they're not my favorite target, and you'll be able to take something so I might finally be able to take a day off.

Speaker 2

And then Brendan had said, Hey, I'm going to take back taking.

Speaker 3

Time away, so you know, and I feel like Harmony may have been the first episode where I might have been.

Speaker 4

Like, no, oh, really sore throat, guys.

Speaker 2

I was.

Speaker 4

I was in the infirmary with Ronan, and now I've got a really sore throat.

Speaker 2

I'll bet you would.

Speaker 3

Hey, I saw that thing you shared in a Henry Cavill chat with Emmember the other day.

Speaker 2

Pretty, it's pretty funny.

It's pretty it's pretty funny, pretty acurate.

Speaker 1

Yeah, Maddie and I are in a in a group chat with with a friend of ours and she quiet little church mouse Emma like doesn't make a peep about much about anything, but she would.

She takes great pride in describing how much she would climb Henry Cavill like a tree and all the violent things that she would do to him.

And we agree with everything I can understand why.

Yeah, absolutely, And so we're just in a chat that mainly consists of us talking about.

Speaker 3

Just first first reels and first tweets and Instagram so.

Speaker 1

Bad, it's so bad, And yet she insists that she's in one with her two sisters.

Speaker 2

That's somehow even worse.

Speaker 4

Well except for that one time, that one thing we did.

Speaker 2

I think you, yeah, I think you took it a little bit too far.

Was it you or me?

Speaker 4

I'm pretty sure it was me.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I'll do that for the audience.

Leave it a little bit.

Speaker 4

Speaking speaking of sore throats and Ronan the cactus is back.

Speaker 2

Okay, sorry, what's the girl?

Katie Katie Katie Brown?

When she he's like, oh, is that my plan?

She's like, oh that blah blah blah blah blah, Rodney.

Speaker 4

Yeah.

Speaker 2

And then the way she was.

Speaker 1

Over there hand and just like she was crafting clay in bloody a ghost like right, And I'm like, okay, you know that's a cacti, that like an alien cacti, but you don't have to get so why are you pulling out the lubricant?

Speaker 2

What's going on here?

Speaker 3

I was missing was the too little round cacti at the bottom of Yeah, basically that.

Speaker 2

Was a little bit too felic and.

Speaker 4

Given special attention.

Speaker 1

I'll bet you have lit eruption at the top of it.

And you know he hadn't even proposed so.

Speaker 4

With his one eighth of a carrot shit.

Speaker 1

We went I'm like, that's a bad proper ring.

And I'm like, I can maybe they're not gonna, you know, focus in on it.

And then the shepherdud be like, is that is that a diamond?

He's got a great deal and ate the because I bet you.

Speaker 2

Did, I think quote.

Speaker 3

But there's like because like someone shows a wedding and they go, oh, that's that's so nice, when when's the diamond being put in so bad?

Speaker 2

Like, you know, I worked with a guy and he talks, you know, about his regret.

Speaker 1

You know, he had no money and he spent what he had on a on an engagent ring for his wife and they're still married, you know, more than twenty years, going strong, all that sort of stuff, lovely couple.

Speaker 2

But he talks about he's regret about.

Speaker 1

It being a piece of shit, and I'm like, yeah, but you know what, like you do what you can at the time, and you're doing it and that's a representation of that time.

You know, like I get a bit funny and we haven't really quite reach that stage yet.

Speaker 2

Maybe it's coming, I don't know.

Speaker 1

But like the idea of like upgrading a ring, and I don't know whether it's just because I'm the man and I'm the one that gave it, but like the idea of like, well no, that's just who you get another one, get another one, splash full of diamonds, but that one kind of represents.

Speaker 3

Yeah, there's a sentimentality you would think, Yeah, it's that this is the physical object that is a representation of.

Speaker 4

The promise that I'm making to you.

This is it?

Speaker 3

So yeah, to me, it's I'm I'm someone that is I get very emotionally attached to physical objects, yes, Whereas like my friend Michael's spoken about, he has ero attachment of physical objects, you know what I mean.

So it's like you can give him a gift and he's like great, thanks, But in two years time that might not exist anymore because he's just tossed it all, you know whatever.

Whereas like like Lincoln, for example, not bring up again, but he gave me an amazing gift out of just out of No, it wasn't for birthday or anything like that.

Speaker 4

We're at soup and over and I took him over to show.

Speaker 3

It was like the legacy collection White Ranger Sabah Sword, you know, the one for adult collectors.

Speaker 4

It's something that I never ever, ever would have bought for myself.

Speaker 3

Yeah, you know, but I kind of showed it to him because I know he loves the White Range.

I thought he might have bought.

I was like, I showed it to him, so then yeah, he bought it.

And then we walked out of a little stool and he handed it to me and gave it to me, and I mean, you're joking, mate, I mean you're joking.

Speaker 4

He's like, no, no, this is a view thank blah blah blah.

Speaker 3

And I can love that thing because it reminds me of that, you know, I have a connection to it there from you know, that moment and that kind of thing.

Whereas yeah, someone like Mike, he's just like he's whatever, you can buy him gift and he's.

Speaker 4

Like cool, thanks, yeah, well but if it doesn't serve him anymore, yeah, it's gone.

Speaker 2

But you look at my wedding ring there.

Speaker 1

It doesn't get much more plain than that, right, Like it's I don't I have like five five mil five mil wide.

Speaker 4

Oh that's at least four inches.

Speaker 2

But like there's no markings whatsoever.

Speaker 3

Simple it's like slightly curved, you know, like it's not just like and thin.

See I noticed a lot of guys like my brother in law he has and there's something that I would do is the like the black like the black wedding ring.

But he's just like really thick and chonky like it just it takes up too much space on the hand for me.

Whereas that's just you know.

Speaker 2

I mean part of it.

Speaker 1

It does look like the one ring when it hasn't been in the fire where it reveals the Elvish language, right it does.

Speaker 2

But tell me it doesn't tell me.

It doesn't tell me if I didn't put I guess you do, ring mate.

Speaker 1

If I put this on a silver link chain and water around my neck.

I mean, it's as plain as a gold rings ever going to get.

And I love it, Like Sarah's just like would you ever, like would you ever want to go and maybe put a diamond into it or or do something?

Speaker 4

And I'm like, you get the inside engraved.

Speaker 2

With velvis I've already got one of those rings.

Speaker 3

Yeah, but know when you wear But I feel like I would wear it if Sarah did wann an upgrade or maybe maybe for like your twentieth wedding anniversary or something like that.

I would love the idea that Sarah was somehow able to like make you think you'd lost that ring, but she actually stole it, took it in engraver, engraved the elvish on the inside of it, and then gives it back to you.

Speaker 4

Was like a wedding gift.

Yeah, it's like an anniversary.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I mean, yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 3

You would cream your geens mate, I probably would you try and get your vasectomy undone.

Speaker 4

That's how That's how much.

I don't know.

I don't know what you guys do in your alone time.

Speaker 2

We've been we've been married now for thirteen twelve years.

Speaker 4

We've been wait, how many how many rings are?

How many rings were there?

Speaker 2

What?

Speaker 3

How many rings were there in Lord of the Rings, Remember there was like the one ring and then there was the seven nine.

Speaker 1

For the rasive men.

Yeah, seven for the dwarf lords, three for the elves.

So how many one and eleven twenty or so?

Speaker 3

There you go for your twentieth wedding anniversary.

Because there's twenty rings, she gets engraved.

Speaker 2

On the thing.

Speaker 3

You know, maybe be sure, like I was saying, like if there were seventeen rings, then she should do it on your seventeenth win again, you know what I mean?

Speaker 4

Yeah, Sarah, you never can listen to this.

Speaker 3

But was sorted, mate, because like, yeah, we're at twelve so eight years when my my wife is forty seven, you're suggesting, wow, wow.

Speaker 4

What you've just dropped a woman's she.

Speaker 2

Won't be should be forty six?

Yes?

And also what sorry, mate?

What's age?

She's stunning it all over?

Speaker 4

Exactly?

Why did you have to rep Why did you?

Speaker 1

I'm just saying, at forty six, you're suggested that I get my visectomy reversed.

Speaker 2

For what.

I don't know.

I'm just like, that's how appreciated.

Speaker 1

That you one last time to celebrate you buying me this freaking I.

Speaker 4

Didn't say it was for impregnation.

I just don't why.

Speaker 2

Else would I do it?

Speaker 3

I don't know.

It still works, yeah, but you could have like naturally, like you were so excited, you naturally like three.

Speaker 1

Forges yea, yeah fires, Yes, it works obviously.

Speaker 4

Like it's like natural viagara or whatever.

I know, I'm just saying that's how excited you would be.

Speaker 1

Well, all that was to say that, you know what, I'm like, I would never replace this because that's what that means to me.

And if I ever lost it and it's like, just get another one, and I'm like it's not the same.

Speaker 4

Yeah, you know, at that point, it's just holding yeah.

Speaker 2

Yeah.

Speaker 4

Did I ever tell this story about my sister's wedding ring.

Speaker 2

I don't think so.

Speaker 3

She it was after my mom passed.

She lost it if she put it in a gym bag or something like that and could not find it, and she was absolutely devastated, could not find it anywhere, and then after Mum passed, found it in mum's jewelry box.

Mum's memory had gone, so Mum had found it while Michelle was away or whatever I left it at a house, had put it in the jewelry box.

Michelle had thought it had been lost for months and months and months and months.

Speaker 4

And then.

Speaker 3

After Mum passed and we're cleaning up mum's house, we opened up mum's jewelry box and my sister lost because she had she gotten it replaced, and then a couple of months later she had it back, she lost it again, and she was losing her mind because of the extra sentimentality about it.

Speaker 4

And then she tried to retrace her steps and she went, where was I where?

Speaker 3

And just on a whim, she drove down to the local Woolworst that was not even really near her house because when mum's house was, Michelle just happened to be there that day.

And next to that Woolworst was the chemist when we used to take Mum to get a lot of medications and all that kind of stuff and well as well, so Michelle hadn't been to that chemist.

She'd just been at the wool Worst.

She looked around the car park.

It's a dodgy part of town.

It's that's not great.

Nothing nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, And she went, I'm just gonna see she's something something in her, something in her, said, I just happened.

So she walked into the chemist and she asked the people behind the counter, has anyone hand it in an engagement ring or a wedding ring, whatever it was, And then behind the counter goes describe it, and she describes what it is, and the lady pulls it up from out of the counter and hands it to Holy Shit, must have Star and I got goosebumps to She's the story way better than eight?

Speaker 2

What do you think about?

Like, that's a story that people would usually.

Speaker 1

Tell and go straight to religions and you are not that in any way, shape or form.

But that's as close as you're going to get to some type of like there's some you know, far out man, that's crazy.

Speaker 2

Yeah.

Speaker 4

So yeah, things like that.

Speaker 3

I can completely understand having a sentimental nature on like a physical object.

Speaker 1

And all that to say is that I don't think that's what you know.

I don't know how much they get paid to do what they do.

I don't think that's what Rodney was thinking when he got a great deal.

It was like, I've got no money.

It was I'm keeping that.

Yeah, yeah, not for Honeymoon.

Speaker 4

Eight of a Carrot.

What was it?

Conflict free or whatever?

Speaker 2

It was, Yes, yeah, conflict free.

Speaker 4

It's like in one of your favorite shows are The Big Bang Theory.

Speaker 2

Why would you do that?

Why would you do that?

Speaker 3

When one of the guys goes to proposed to Penny or whatever and he gets this ring and it's like it's like a it's like a fake diamond that's been like grown.

Speaker 4

It's like because he's a science nerd, he like.

Speaker 2

Grows in it a lab grown one.

Speaker 4

Yeah, or it was like a it was.

Speaker 3

One that was compiled from like other bits of like diamond drill bits.

Speaker 4

Like it was a really cool nerdy thing.

Speaker 3

And she's like, oh, okay, so it's not a real a real diamond or anything like that.

Yeah, yeah, that's that's become a a thing at the moment.

Like they're really I think whether it's you know, to do with not so much conservation, but all that sort of stuff at the moment, like lab grown seems to be not something you have to go searching for.

Speaker 2

But they're promoting a lot at the moment.

Yeah, how does that sit with people?

Speaker 3

Because it's like it's not like it's glass, it's not like it's fake.

Speaker 1

It is a diamond.

It just happens to be still carries all the same sort of stuff.

It just happens to be grown.

Speaker 3

Because I feel like the the what would you call it, the not popularity, but the reason it's a precious stone and it's so is because it's so rare, the same as gold, like, oh god, I could almost give myself a that degree.

I'm not going to do it.

I'm not going to do it even at thirty now.

But yeah, so it's like by it's like the scarcity test, and it's like the more scarce something is, the more rare, the more valuable it is.

Speaker 4

And it's like, well, if you can if you.

Speaker 3

Can lab grow them, does that make the scarcity of them less so that they're always the fact that oh it's actually one that was pulled from the ground.

Speaker 4

Yeah, same as you know I do.

I mean kitchens for a living.

Speaker 3

And it's like, well there's there's man made stone for bench hoops, but you can also get like granite pulled out of the ground, yeah, to make your bench top.

And that's a lot more expensive because it's a natural product that comes out of the ground, yeah versus man made stone.

Speaker 2

It just depends what the man wants us to think.

Right.

Speaker 1

It's like, hey, this is the food you need to be eating.

And this is like you know, we sit there and you know, you compare, like what they tell you is, you know, a high priced meat for example, So this one costs heaps.

Speaker 2

It's like twenty years ago that was like you're eating mutton that you're reading nothing.

Yeah, kale?

Speaker 3

Where was that hipop Dad's well, many many, many many decades ago used to own a like a like a carvery like like a little takeaway shop and stuff like that, where all the sandwiches and where you make your own sandwiches, Like all the decoration decoration around it was kale, you know, because no one ate it because it was cheap.

It was this little greenery thing.

You'd have to make it, the little display case look pretty.

And now it's like this, you know, ancient super super food.

Speaker 2

Everyone's always have you known about it?

Yeah?

Speaker 4

And it's four thousand dollars a kill.

Speaker 2

It's crazy.

Speaker 1

Yeah, So like you know, ring importance, all that sort of stuff, aside how much he spent on it.

I was still kind of surprised when he's like, oh, are we going to take out, you know, to the next step.

I almost expect him to say this is a commitment ring, Yeah, especially once you sort of back and sort of look, you know, so the idea, I'm like, oh, that seems I'm very like surprised that Rodney would be about that, Like he's so mission focused it would be like, hey, we're together, that's enough.

And maybe if we ever leave here or they are going, I can't ever see him looking at a time where he wouldn't be on Atlantis and wouldn't be trying to explore and create some events, discover and unlock certain things.

So I just came as a surprise that he wouldn't that he would even want.

Speaker 3

But also that's like it's like, I guess, technically in World they've been together about two years because that's when Duet was, when they did the Body Swamp and that kind of stuff that was kind of early season two, But it's like Katie's only been in like three episodes total or something like that.

So it is a weird thing to think that they've had this relationship.

Does that mean Rodney has been having sex?

Speaker 2

Like I just don't, I can't.

Speaker 3

I don't want to visualize that, but but I can't visualize imagine between Katie and Rodney.

Imagine just that'd be just the most awkward sex ever, Like just the amount of oh sorry, oh so I'm sorry, No, okay, okay.

Speaker 2

Is this it's fine?

Yeah?

Speaker 4

Oh my god, this feels so great.

Speaker 1

Yeah yeah, And there was even a moment where he was over by the by the door and you know, and talked about how ill he was feeling, but it was even before he really handed it up.

Speaker 2

And she does and gets the stool.

Speaker 1

She say, come over here, sit down, and he sort of, you know, shoulders were slumped, and he sort of like you know, got the bottom lip out a little bit, sort of like shuffles over like a kid who knows he has to come over to his mind and get his hair brushed, but wants to let her know that he doesn't like that.

Speaker 4

And I'm like, assive resistance.

Speaker 1

I know she doesn't know he's about to propose, but like when he does, is she signing up to you know, if my wife's listening to this, she and be like, and you think, I'm okay with all the bullshit you pull, You're useless, poor excuse of a man.

But like I'm looking at this in a TV character who's completely fictional, so I can judge him how I want.

But I'm like, if he, you know, proposes five minutes after that, does she go so that bullshit before?

Like, that's you're not going to do that when you're a married man to me, right, Like you're only doing that to like garner some sympathy because we're in this situation that isn't you as a person though, is it?

Or except of course it is because that's all you've ever been, you know what I mean, Like, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3

Well it does make me think too.

There's a certain spots where he is being that way.

There's a couple of moments where she's looking at him and you can kind of it's almost I almost feel like that if he had proposed, I don't know that she would have said yes, you know, just she seemed very kind of like, oh what are you like not in a judge where she was just kind of like disappointed in the way he was acting and a little bit like, oh why is he being such a baby about these things?

There was just some kind of not so much judgment or concern that was just and it was really well done by the actress who just kind of had these looks where she was kind.

Speaker 2

Of flag it's not quite rare.

Speaker 3

Yeah, it was like she's reevaluating.

She's like, you know, I feel like I read it at her being like is this a man?

I even want to be in a relationship with him?

He's going to be this sort of you know Paddy manchild, but then you obviously when you know he does at the end, and like you spoke about, you know, we have these moments with Rodney where he'd actually sort of progresses as a human being.

So I think I think we did get that at the end of this episode with the little speech he gives about how he was going to propose, and then but he's not because he needs to work on himself, and you know, kind of his way almost saying like, oh, I don't know that I'm good enough for you, or I don't know if I'm RAVI, and I need to work on myself more before I can make these promises to you, And and then kind of she just sort of has that disappointing sort of thing.

And then obviously, I guess i'd love to get your thoughts on what you thought of that last moment where you know, she Rodney turns around goodbye.

Speaker 2

At this moment, I'd like to say that I haven't seen the last ten minutes of the episode.

Speaker 3

Oh my god, So you'll have to have to take that question out of the edit.

Speaker 2

I've been able to get.

I skimmed through some shit before you Son of a Beer.

I skimmed through it before we were talking about shit, I didn't know that they even got close to a kiss.

Speaker 1

Old mate, and then I skimmed through again, saw them like at the at the diner, you know, the cafeteria.

She's sort of looking at him and smiling and stuff, But there was no like, so, I don't.

Speaker 2

Even know what you're talking about.

Yeah, so we can either edit it or you can know.

Speaker 4

That's all staying in.

Speaker 2

So that's all going to stay given.

Speaker 3

There was it the start of the extep last week, Exeter that I give you shit about not having watched the first ones.

Speaker 2

Yeah, and you and I said, I haven't done that to Atlanta's.

I haven't.

Speaker 1

I haven't done that yet, but you know, you never know.

That only makes sense if you understand that we're recording these two episodes together.

Speaker 2

Yeah, yeah, because otherwise it's like, what's the big last week?

Speaker 1

You said, oh, you haven't watched any episodes, and I'm like, I've never done that to Atlanta's.

Then the whole week goes by and I still don't watch it, which obviously does happen at times, but I still managed to make it happen.

But yeah, I haven't haven't seen that bit.

So that sounds like a really emotional part that you want me to answer a question about.

Speaker 2

You know, Maddie, I really wish I could help you.

I had another question about you know, only who is that listening?

Speaker 3

Go?

Speaker 1

Is it too much for you to just watch the effisode?

Yeah, he's finally got some more fuel.

Speaker 2

Yeah.

Speaker 3

I was going to ask you another question about you know, Zelenka, but you probably haven't seen the part where he saves the day, so a little bit.

Speaker 2

Yeah, like I said, skimmed through while we've been.

Speaker 3

There's a there's a and John's gonna crawl through it to save the day, to turn off the self destruct And he's like, I can't fit, and Cartera's like I'll go, And then's Linka's like no, I'll go, and I'm like but then like John helps him get up, and I'm like, I don't think John AND's a Linka are that different of a body type.

But if John couldn't fit in, then I don't think the Linka would have the Linka fits.

Speaker 4

I feel like John would have fit.

Speaker 3

Yeah, so you know they're not it's not it's not like it's not like it's Ronan it on top of the call sheet.

Yeah, I'll go, I'll go.

I just like when John.

Speaker 1

You know, obviously it's okay worked out for a batman and climbs.

Speaker 2

The side of the tower.

Speaker 1

And then later on Taylor looks up and goes, yeah, I'll go up there and.

Speaker 2

Goes to walk out.

Okay, Nah, what are you?

What are you doing?

Speaker 1

I don't want to say that you can't do that.

It's definitely you shouldn't, but at the same time, don't.

Speaker 3

Yeah, she realized she can't do that.

No one can tell her she can't do that.

But she got out there and went, oh, I can't do this.

Speaker 2

That's child.

Speaker 5

You know.

Speaker 2

It's me saying to my kids, you don't do that?

Speaker 1

Why not?

You just can't.

No, I want to find it.

Okay.

I'm not saying I don't want you to be able to do that, and I'm not saying that I have restricted you.

I'm just saying you cannot do it.

Speaker 2

Yeah.

Speaker 3

Well, kids are different because you know they're miners and you're you're making decisions for them.

Speaker 4

You can say that your kid can't do that.

Speaker 2

I definitely can.

Speaker 4

I'm not allowing you to do that.

Speaker 3

And sometimes and our parents will know and you would even know just being a child of a parent that sometimes you know, hey, don't.

Speaker 2

Touch that it's hot.

You need to touch it to find how hot it is.

Speaker 4

Just how hot is it?

Speaker 2

You know?

Speaker 1

And sometimes that means you're burning skin off and you have to go to the hospital, as I've had to do.

Speaker 3

You know, that's fine, Yeah, not to be here.

Mike said to me a few months ago.

He's like, he's like, hot doesn't exist.

Hot and cold don't exist.

Speaker 2

I was like, well, does he mean.

Speaker 1

Like just that it's like how long's a piece of string type thing.

Speaker 3

As an analogy for something else, And he's just like, hot and cold don't exist.

It's like but I'm like, yeah, but you know, because what's what's like if you and I get in the shower not together.

I'm just saying separately, what will be a hot shower for you?

Might not be a hot shower for me.

It might be a lukewarm shower.

Speaker 1

Yeah, but I mean, you know we're the hot side and the cold side.

There is a clear difference.

Speaker 4

Yeah.

Speaker 3

So yeah, but no one, no one gets in the sharing and says I'd like to have a seventy five degree shower, please just you know, or a sixty degree shower, which it's just you know.

Speaker 1

So Mike, all love to you, mate, but you don't like horses and all of a sudden, hot and cold don't exist.

Speaker 2

You sound like a conspiracy.

Speaker 4

Oh god, he made me watched Succession.

Speaker 3

So I watched Succession, good show right well into that, But I said, I said, you do realize Succession is just Game of Thrones without horses, right, And he goes, yeah, you're right, that's why I watch it.

And I'm like, but they do so much more messed up stuff in Game of Thrones when it comes to like abusing family members and backstabbing and like actually killing.

Speaker 2

People if that's what you're in it for.

Speaker 3

Yeah, So I'm just like, well, I just feel like Succession is just a poor man's Game of Thrones without any horses.

Speaker 2

Oh, you know both HBO.

So they got to double dip that little idea.

Speaker 3

Yeah, they just went, let's let's redo Game of Thrones, but will put the suits filter over it and call it succession?

Speaker 1

Yeah, put that online and just say Game of Thrones plus and then a picture of like you know, Harvey and then equals and go success session and just go come at me Internet.

Speaker 3

See what put it on Twitter?

Because that's that's a great place.

It's so safe.

Speaker 1

Yeah, you know, it's nothing but friendliness.

You're piss off three fan groups.

Speaker 3

You mentioned Taylor also on the tower.

I couldn't verify, but one of the trivia things said apparently because John said, oh, Batman does it all the time.

Speaker 4

Apparently I was hoping you'd pick it up.

Speaker 3

But apparently in the score someone reckons there's a little bit of a Batman.

Really think it might be like an Adam West.

Speaker 4

I couldn't.

Speaker 2

I couldn't.

Speaker 3

I couldn't find it.

But you've got a better ear than me than I do.

You've got a better.

Speaker 4

Ear than I do.

And then you're with the Taylor thing.

Speaker 3

You probably noticed they're quite open about shooting her belly now and she's much larger and all that kind of stuff.

Speaker 1

Oh, I'm like when she first walked in, and I'm like, how many months since last week?

Speaker 3

Because well, this is the first episode they shot back from hiatus, so after they shot.

Speaker 2

And it's the third one to air, so they had to work hard for the other two.

Speaker 3

So for the last two episodes, they weren't shooting her from kind of the waist down because she was this size, so that's why she kind of wasn't in be almost since remembered, yeah much.

Speaker 4

And then yeah, last headshots.

Speaker 3

Yeah, it's there's a lot of Torso up shots, so yes, so now they're just like the and she's obviously a new little teal silky number, her maternity gear and stuff like that.

Speaker 4

So that's why this kind of bit of a bit of a leap in terms of the bellissas and the bear Bear.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I just I was just that took me a little bit.

I'm like, but also I'm like, oh, that's right, she's actually pregnant in real life like that.

Yeah, that's cool, and she looks great.

But then still like, no, no, no, I'm wait, I'm so far away from my due date.

And I'm like, okay, good, so we're not at risk of that actually happening, even though it's a cliche and we're probably gonna do and then we do joke that it's happening.

Speaker 4

Yeah, speaking of who might be pregnant.

Speaker 3

Next, this is from the scene you did scroll to where they're all catching up at the cafeteria.

Speaker 4

At the end.

This is what the audio Terry had to say when Carter shows.

Speaker 5

Up, I like the income from us.

Yes, that's sweet, broken only by Carter.

Yeah, loser Carter because her boyfriend's back in Washington.

What it's almost retired.

Are we giving away too much?

Speaker 3

Hi?

Speaker 5

I just talked to my boyfriend in Washington.

Is that what you're thinking about?

And according to my boyfriend, the almost retired guy in Washington, general, that's giving away too much.

Speaker 4

A slap mountain.

So yeah, that's that's a little bit of that.

Speaker 3

And then and then I've mentioned this in one of the previous episodes, and I feel like you and you and Brendan were a little bit skeptical about it, but I do have it confirmed now.

Speaker 7

So there was a whole thing in here about about getting hazmat suits and the fact that that that they were going to put on has Matt suits and bring them in, and that we were going to build this tent, and and that's sort of felt by the way said.

The tent is just there.

It's just you know, it's the has Matt tent.

Where where Ronan is going to get into it?

And the reason is because Ronan's melon.

His head is too big to fit into the helmets.

Because because no You know what's interesting is that when we did Aurora, I couldn't actually put Ronan in a spacesuit because because Jason's head, his physical skull wouldn't fit inside the helmet.

Speaker 5

Is never a time when you actually see him in Aurora.

Speaker 7

When you see him it's actually his it's Ken Cursinger, his his uh his stunt double or Glennadi is one of the two of them is in there acting as Jason because Jason cannot get huge you know, satellite for a head into it.

And it's not because the dreads because we squitched the dreads all the way that he can't get into a has nuts.

Speaker 5

So we actually dropped the scene because it could sit into That's funny.

Speaker 7

And the save just sort of put a put a tent in there so that we could say he could get in there if we needed to do.

Speaker 2

That's funny, man.

Speaker 3

I mean we can relate you.

And I've had issues trying to find caps that fit.

Speaker 1

Oh my god.

When I find a hat that fits, it's like, well, this is this is.

Speaker 2

Staying with me.

It's like a tattoo, Yeah, it's going to be with me.

Speaker 3

For I've had a fox truck, a cap in two thousand and one at dream World that I still own.

Speaker 2

Wow, yeah, she doesn't what she doesn't want one?

Speaker 4

Yeah, I got to get a hat from New York's.

Speaker 1

The New York Giants.

Yes, Americans, they're my team.

I don't know whether that's a good.

Speaker 4

Or about the learned the Falcons.

Speaker 2

I accidentally stumbled to being a Giants fan.

Speaker 1

And when I remember that I had a piece of their merch, I'm like, oh, yeah, I'm going to a super Bowl party.

Say up, I think they're playing and they won.

I'm like, they're my team now.

But now other people think that I'm really into it, and so they come to me and they asked me what I think about, you know, off season signings, the new coach and how we're fairing and when we're going to bounce back, and I'm.

Speaker 2

Like, I don't.

Speaker 4

I don't know I'd learned the Falcon.

Speaker 2

For anyone else outside of our fair city.

Speaker 1

I mean, o's oide of our country, like our city Brisbane, our rugby league team, the Brisbane Broncos.

They're my number one team in my favorite sport.

And one of their former captains he's a mad Giants fan, and so he'll come up to me and beautiful man, he's sweet Kiwi voice, you know, come and go.

I think i'd say, you, bro, I think the Giants are gonna bunce back.

And I'm like, ah, are they?

Speaker 2

Though?

Speaker 1

Like sure, and he's like, oh, what do you think about this?

I'm like, I think it's great.

He's like trust the process, bro, Like sure, He'll put something on his Instagram story and.

Speaker 2

He has a lot of followers, and he.

Speaker 1

Put something on his story and he'll tag me and go on, that's oh, you're a mitch.

Like please to ask you questions don't require a rhetorical answer or something.

Speaker 4

Is there another horse themed American?

Is it football?

We took on football?

Speaker 2

Is thet Nver Broncos?

Speaker 4

Is that?

Speaker 2

Oh?

Speaker 4

There you go?

Speaker 2

Yeah?

Speaker 4

But that is that not how you choose teams?

Speaker 2

Though?

Do not go?

Speaker 4

Well, I go for horses.

Speaker 1

Yeah, they love the Broncos and so they go for the for the Broncos in the the NFL, I.

Speaker 3

Think the closest side go and it probably hasn't aged very well as I would go with the Ravens because in Harry potter Land, I'm a raven claw.

Speaker 4

Does that cont.

Speaker 2

I mean, I'm not totally against it.

Speaker 1

I've probably come up with, you know, choices from similar style.

I don't know, maybe it works Devon broncos there we go, dig up, dig up.

It's like, no, you idiot, but you know what I actually I definitely have you know, I joke that this ring, you know, I love the simplicity of it, and I love the fact that that's what we chose at the time.

I will never replace it because when we chose my wedding ring, you know, we did it together and it happened.

That is my wedding ring.

I will never want to quote unquote improve on it.

I will never want to change it.

Speaker 2

Because that is what it is.

Speaker 1

But also the fact that it looks like the one ring when it's not on the fire and hasn't got the engravings on it, it doesn't hurt that it looks like that same as you know, like my oldest boy, his name is James.

It's my middle my dad's middle name, it's my grandfather's name.

It just seemed like it was a name that I was going to carry on.

And his middle name is Christopher.

Now sure, my father in law one of his middle names is Christopher.

If that's the story, we go with great it works so that now, like his first name is the middle name of his grandfather and his middle name is the middle name of his other grandfather, but also a favorite superheroes first name is technically Christopher, so it kind of works.

Yeah, I'm talking about the Phantom.

His name's kit, Kit being short for Christopher.

So you know, that's how I chose names.

The idea that you're a you know, ravenclaw and you want to go for the Ravens.

Speaker 2

I think that works me.

Speaker 3

I mean, if I was, if I was going to have a daughter, I named Kira after Kieran As from Newspacene Jazz Sharks.

Speaker 2

Jazz Sharks.

A line has to be drawn here this far and no further.

Speaker 3

All right, man, like you you really sucked me in there.

Speaker 2

That that's it.

Speaker 1

Episode two hundred and eighty three of your mike is down.

Your levels are down, and it's not even like you can run around to Brendan's mike like you used to and try and unless you're going to come around here, and.

Speaker 2

If you do, I'm gonna clock it.

No, I'm not going to do that.

We will be back next week.

Speaker 1

There's so much between us under the table it's not going to happen today, Harmony.

Speaker 2

We are back to talk Harmedy.

Speaker 1

This might be all you hear about Maddigan until episode two hundred and eighty five because he reckons.

He won't be here next week to talk about harmony.

Or he might just show up and triple hit us with some treck stuff and I'll be doing it by myself, which no one wants that.

Speaker 2

Mate, no one wants to hear that.

Don't ask me how long.

I did a solo podcast the other week.

I can do it, but no one wants to hear it.

Speaker 7

Get into Geek, Get into Gate, Get into Gate Stargate podcast.

Speaker 2
