Episode Transcript
[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, it's Doos and Mo, thanks so much for downloading the podcast.
[SPEAKER_02]: We're dropping a mini-pod on Jonathan Kamingo Watch.
[SPEAKER_02]: Also presented by our friends, our Sentevo vineyards and winery and medic ambulance.
[SPEAKER_02]: We appreciate them staying with us all off season long.
[SPEAKER_02]: Let's start the show.
[SPEAKER_01]: Doos and Mo.
[SPEAKER_01]: Doos and Mo.
[SPEAKER_01]: Doos and Mo.
[SPEAKER_01]: They tell you what they know.
[SPEAKER_01]: Doos and Mo.
[SPEAKER_01]: Do some mo!
[SPEAKER_01]: Do some mo!
[SPEAKER_02]: Who's sick of the Jonathan Kominga story?
[SPEAKER_02]: Who's sick of reading social media opinions about it?
[SPEAKER_04]: Not me because I'm not really I stay in a way.
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm like mental health is really important at this time of year.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, it's officially August seconds and Jonathan Kominga his situation.
[SPEAKER_02]: Just still the same, still the same.
[SPEAKER_02]: A sameemic with the athletic had an update that I thought was interesting.
[SPEAKER_02]: It detailed where things stay with Jonathan Kaminga, Sacramento Kings, while your son's all that shit.
[SPEAKER_02]: First things for a same, Amick reporting that the Kings offered Kaminga a three year, sixty three million dollar deal.
[SPEAKER_02]: Now, part of this is like, that's cute that you offer it, but you can't do this unless you have the warriors helping this.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_02]: The Kings don't have cap space.
[SPEAKER_02]: or as comming as a restricted free agent, meaning they could match any offer.
[SPEAKER_02]: So the King's Wars would have to work out a tray.
[SPEAKER_02]: A few weeks back, we heard rumblings write that were reported that the King's had offered up Dario Sharch.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yep.
[SPEAKER_02]: Devin Carter and like a second round pick.
[SPEAKER_04]: I already forgot about that one.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, because it was easily forgettable.
[SPEAKER_02]: Like that one was like, okay, that's cute.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, now the latest is that the King's [SPEAKER_02]: Chris, they're off for a little bit, so it would be a three year, sixty three million dollar deal for Caminga in a proposal that would send Malik monk.
[SPEAKER_02]: And they're twenty thirty first round pick lottery protected to the warriors.
[SPEAKER_02]: Now that deal would require the words to move more salary elsewhere to stay under the first apron, meaning like buddy healed or Moses moody would have to go.
[SPEAKER_02]: If that picked it not convey the twenty thirty lottery protected pick, it would then go to the warriors in twenty thirty one, which would get the least they would get the least favorable of the kings in San Antonio first from pick that year.
[SPEAKER_02]: Those protections, I guess, have been the primary sticking point in courting the same amic as the warriors insisted that the first rounder be unprotected.
[SPEAKER_02]: And that's why we're in this stalemate right now.
[SPEAKER_04]: So what is, and tell me if I'm wrong, if I'm taking this too strong in this direction.
[SPEAKER_04]: So because it is protected, that's what's like, that's the whole thing.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, really think so though like that, no, you really think that's it though.
[SPEAKER_04]: Like don't you think there's, don't you think that's like part of it?
[SPEAKER_04]: They're being like, oh, we won't unprotected, but do you still really believe like they would take on this deal?
[SPEAKER_02]: The lawyers.
[SPEAKER_02]: If I'm the lawyers, I would take it lottery protected.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm with you.
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm with you.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm with you.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm with you.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm with you.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm with you.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm with you.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm with you.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm with you.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm with you.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm with you.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm with you.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm with you.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm with you.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm with you.
[SPEAKER_02]: No contract extension.
[SPEAKER_02]: Now they're in a situation where he could accept a qualifying offer of seven point nine million dollars and be with them next year.
[SPEAKER_02]: And then becoming unrestricted for Egypt.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, by the way, part of that qualifying offer is a no trade clause.
[SPEAKER_02]: So they couldn't trade him.
[SPEAKER_02]: What the lawyers want him to do is to sign that two year, forty five million dollar deal.
[SPEAKER_02]: So then they can look to trade him later.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_02]: They want to use that as a piece to move later.
[SPEAKER_02]: This is not a good situation, right?
[SPEAKER_02]: So [SPEAKER_02]: If you're the warriors, you need something.
[SPEAKER_02]: And this is not nothing.
[SPEAKER_02]: I think people look at Malik monk maybe out from outside Sacramento and maybe see something different, but this guy would definitely help the Golden State Warriors.
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, honestly, as someone in Sacramento, [SPEAKER_02]: I don't love the idea of losing my league.
[SPEAKER_02]: I know because of what he has meant to this team in the last couple of years and I understand the King's roster constructions weird and you got to give up the so talent to get talent, but I'm looking at Malik on this guy has played a variety of roles.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: the two man game pick and roll and also just having the ability to stay confident being a playmaker being able to play in different roles being able to I guess execute different roles obviously being put into a position like he was being a primary point guard at some points of [SPEAKER_04]: uh, later of last season.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's not, it's not his strong suit, but he still has mentality in the way that he took that on.
[SPEAKER_04]: I thought said a lot about him, his maturity and where he was as a player in the league.
[SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, if you have better pieces around you and then you're not the one that they're relying on as their main point guard.
[SPEAKER_04]: You're good.
[SPEAKER_04]: And it's a great.
[SPEAKER_04]: It would be a great situation.
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't love it.
[SPEAKER_04]: Like you just said, I don't love it either.
[SPEAKER_04]: I think it's a great deal for the warriors, but they're not moving forward with it because of the protection of the pick, which seems interesting.
[SPEAKER_02]: I think from a Malik standpoint, like you think about him coming off the bench for the warriors and just like an instant spark plug.
[SPEAKER_02]: And some scoring off the bench, especially when Curry goes to the bench, another guy that could play me, he's ability to stretch the floor a great athlete.
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I just, yeah, I've said it for years, like he's first team all confidence and for a King's team at times of your card, they like that.
[SPEAKER_02]: just sparked how many times he came into a game.
[SPEAKER_02]: And it was like, let's go.
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, he brings juice to a building.
[SPEAKER_02]: And I think it would be that that would be a big loss for Sacramento, but it would help Golden State a lot.
[SPEAKER_02]: And then a lottery protected pick.
[SPEAKER_02]: Look, I know that's like not the sexiest thing, but do you want Camina to walk for nothing?
[SPEAKER_02]: And okay, let's just say in this weird world, you give him a two year, forty five million dollar deal.
[SPEAKER_02]: Are you really getting a way better deal around the trade deadline to move him?
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_02]: And then you have to factor in, like, just his mood about going back to goals to that point, too.
[SPEAKER_04]: But that's the main thing I think because that is where we are at this day and age in the NBA world when there's even a little bit of the animosity or a relationship breaking.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's usually smart to kind of go in the other direction before [SPEAKER_04]: other teams understand the situation you're in of being desperate right they can talk to his agent they can you know figure it out themselves if what what the nitty gritty of the situation is so yeah with all of this it's like sometimes you just want to rip the band it off and like be away with it but sometimes there's also pettiness involved in yeah and whether it's I I'm calling it pettiness right now I mean it could truly them believing that [SPEAKER_04]: they could get more for coming up, but their options are limited.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's like apparently the two teams interested, the sons and the kings.
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, which again says something.
[SPEAKER_02]: I guess the sons offers according to Amick and ESPN.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's just like not even worth like their lawyers or just like dismissive of the sons.
[SPEAKER_02]: And maybe that's their way that maybe this is part of the lawyers going, hey, sons up your offer.
[SPEAKER_02]: The kings are offering this, you know, it means so maybe that's the case.
[SPEAKER_02]: At this point, the sun's come out.
[SPEAKER_02]: No, we're in offer up a package that's very intriguing and it's icing for the Warriors to accept.
[SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, if I'm Sacramento too, this is it.
[SPEAKER_02]: Hi.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, it's Mal, if you want to make this move, you don't increase the offer.
[SPEAKER_02]: You don't take away the lottery protections.
[SPEAKER_02]: I think for Sacramento, like, putting yourself in a situation where you're giving up an unprotected first round pick for Camilla along with Monk.
[SPEAKER_02]: I just think it's it's too pricey for me.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and I'm totally with you on that and that's something we talked about even in that last podcast that we did when we first started talking about some of the rumors, but I think the other angle now that we kind of need to touch on as well is the Malik monk angle with Sacramento because that's true.
[SPEAKER_04]: heard some things about his name being floated out there, whatever blah, blah.
[SPEAKER_04]: But now it feels like more so than ever it is obvious that like they are looking to move Malik monk and not to say that he wouldn't be professional and just do whatever the hell he needed to do.
[SPEAKER_04]: It just it's always weird when you have to go into training camp and start the season with that type of energy around players where their names are.
[SPEAKER_02]: How much do you think his name being in the mix for something like this?
[SPEAKER_02]: Or just in general, how much do you think it's because Scott Perry is like, I'm not a Malik monk guy.
[SPEAKER_02]: He's like an undersized guard.
[SPEAKER_02]: We need length inside of the system.
[SPEAKER_02]: Or is it more like, I like Malik, but this is one of the contracts that we can move and has value in the league.
[SPEAKER_04]: I think it's I think it's both.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yep, I think it's like in the middle with that because I think [SPEAKER_04]: When you look at the future for the Sacramento Kings, are you thinking like he's part of your future?
[SPEAKER_04]: And I feel like with Scott Perry in this organization right now, feel like there's not too many players that get to be in that category right now on the roster of like, yeah, we can see a future with you.
[SPEAKER_04]: And then you go to the other side of things that being like, sell high.
[SPEAKER_04]: Right?
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, like, however high it can be.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what it's going to look like in an impossible shit season.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think if you trade Malik Monk, we're going to be sitting here like three years from now going, this might be one of the worst trades.
[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, I mean, like, I think it's a calculator risk.
[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, we've talked a lot about Camina over last like month or so.
[SPEAKER_02]: For me with Camina, it's not even that.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, oh my god, I'm so excited.
[SPEAKER_02]: This is going to be a game changer for a team that is like a lottery team, a fringe playing team, taking a chance on a twenty two year old who has upside has these flashes of go, you go, oh, maybe there's something there.
[SPEAKER_02]: I think it makes sense.
[SPEAKER_02]: And Amick was talking about it in the article, too, is like the King's view of it as a situation where it's like, all right, it's a pretty reasonable deal.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's not going to post an electric tax.
[SPEAKER_02]: Then we can move Keegan to the three spot, put coming at the four makes this more athletic, more dynamic.
[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's a move a team like Sacramento can make.
[SPEAKER_02]: And that's the other thing I want to add real fast.
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think if you gave coming a three year sixty three million dollar deal.
[SPEAKER_02]: That and a year and a half can be.
[SPEAKER_02]: This is the worst contract in Lee history.
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, it's not it's not especially in today's NBA.
[SPEAKER_04]: Um, I think one of the thoughts before I lose it that no it's okay that I I always think if I go gosh.
[SPEAKER_04]: But if he couldn't figure it out there under a, uh, as stable as you want to call it from the outside, go and state warriors organization table.
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, one of the players knock out someone at first.
[SPEAKER_04]: And that's what I just thought about as I was saying, but like overall, right?
[SPEAKER_02]: Because my counter to this is the worst way.
[SPEAKER_04]: Thank you.
[SPEAKER_04]: Let me finish the point and then you can get your counter.
[SPEAKER_04]: And so, so I'm like, okay, if you couldn't figure out there, then what makes us think that he could figure it out underneath the Sacramento Kings and the organization where they're out today, right?
[SPEAKER_04]: But then I counter myself and I go, oh, sometimes it's always about that new scenery plus he might have learned a lot just even being around a star like Steph Curry that could help him in his growth and development in his career.
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, my counter is that it's not like Golden State has been known for a great track record with Steve Kerr of developing young talent.
[SPEAKER_04]: Absolutely.
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, and I think he, and that's not to like crush him as a coach.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just looking at like some of the young talented.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's been a team that's been trying to maximize the championship window with one of the best players we've ever seen in the game and stuff, Kerr.
[SPEAKER_02]: So they've gone about it differently.
[SPEAKER_02]: And Kominga's had his chances.
[SPEAKER_02]: He also makes mistakes.
[SPEAKER_02]: And I think Kerr's leash with him is much shorter.
[SPEAKER_02]: And I think they just look at it as like, ah, [SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's like this young guy playing with a veteran team.
[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's frustrating at times, but I think they also see the flashes of brilliance, too.
[SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, you come to this point where it's like, even if you like him, [SPEAKER_02]: Like, and I'm sure there's people within that organization who love them and they believe that he can turn into something.
[SPEAKER_02]: Even if you're like mixed on him, you also have to factor in like, if he doesn't want to be here.
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, why are we doing this?
[SPEAKER_04]: And there's, there's no, there's always a place for like every situation's different because I think sometimes there's people that you end up wanting to convince or you draft them even though they don't want to be a part of your organization.
[SPEAKER_04]: like there's gonna be situations, but this one feels like.
[SPEAKER_04]: This is the ship is sailing.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, it would be a really shocking thing if we were like, man, coming is back.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's on the tier deal.
[SPEAKER_02]: And they're actually keeping them.
[SPEAKER_02]: They embraced them and, you know, he's playing confident.
[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's probably a big thing for him.
[SPEAKER_02]: He needs to go somewhere where he's empowered and feels confident and has the ability to make those mistakes, right?
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I think sometimes with young players, that's a tough, it's a tough balance, right?
[SPEAKER_02]: You want to take them aside, but you also [SPEAKER_02]: need them to just like figure it out with experience out there.
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but like I think the point you made is valid.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, wait, this guy can't figure it out with the warriors with one of the great players ever.
[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
[SPEAKER_02]: All this success and he's going to go to Sacramento or Phoenix and figure it out.
[SPEAKER_02]: Like even the other team would evolve at one point Chicago.
[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, I understand.
[SPEAKER_02]: And the other counter to that I've heard from other fans I've talked to is like, whoa, [SPEAKER_02]: Why are other teams interested in it?
[SPEAKER_02]: And I understand the cap space situation, but the kings don't have cap space.
[SPEAKER_02]: Why are other teams like jumping up for joy?
[SPEAKER_02]: I love that question.
[SPEAKER_02]: To come up with a trade that the wars would like and get this guy.
[SPEAKER_04]: Why?
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, what is it?
[SPEAKER_02]: Do you know the answer?
[SPEAKER_02]: I think they see the flaws too.
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I mean, there are.
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's, it's one of those things too with this coming a conversation that's so funny because, um, and this just shows how much content I'm consuming, like online, just thinking about this, but go on state fans.
[SPEAKER_02]: Some love him.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm curious, ruined him.
[SPEAKER_02]: This guy can beat all star a lot of that.
[SPEAKER_02]: Then you've got the fans are like, he's trash, but then they also like don't want to like trade him for Malik month in the first round.
[SPEAKER_02]: Victor, are you kidding me?
[SPEAKER_02]: That's funny about it.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: What was my point going to be with coming up on their teams and how people?
[SPEAKER_04]: Why are their teams don't [SPEAKER_04]: Why other team, that was my, you, you said the conversation and reading online is like, why other than why don't other teams want it?
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I don't know.
[SPEAKER_02]: I just lose my trend of thought in this moment.
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I thought it was still some great points you're making until you lost your trend of thought.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's because I get one thing and then I, all the, I see all the branches of topics I want to hit and then is that like a form of ADD?
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_04]: ADHD?
[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe.
[SPEAKER_04]: Did you say ADHD?
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean it could be, but it's okay.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm so stupid.
[SPEAKER_02]: I make up myself.
[SPEAKER_02]: No, I love it.
[SPEAKER_04]: No, keep it all.
[SPEAKER_04]: Let the world know and see your ADHD.
[SPEAKER_02]: How my brain is just all over the place at the moment.
[SPEAKER_04]: It where it goes to you.
[SPEAKER_04]: But anyway, the whole point that we were talking about with other teams noticing his flaws.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yes.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's flaws.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, it's flaws.
[SPEAKER_02]: But again, six eight athletic free.
[SPEAKER_02]: I was watching some YouTube clips of them today.
[SPEAKER_02]: Just say, okay, how am I really feeling about him today?
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, oh my god.
[SPEAKER_02]: And that the player who popped in my mind thinking about watching his explosiveness sometimes, Sean camp.
[SPEAKER_02]: Sean camp with the Sonics.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh my, the ring man.
[SPEAKER_02]: Just nasty.
[SPEAKER_02]: The Kings have an athlete like that for ever.
[SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
[SPEAKER_02]: So you see those flashes.
[SPEAKER_02]: You see his ability to move off ball and you start thinking about, Oh, with ball movement, the off ball action.
[SPEAKER_02]: Supposed to drop in a dime.
[SPEAKER_02]: You see him defensively at times.
[SPEAKER_02]: Just be so engaged.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's not even necessarily like for me.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's not [SPEAKER_04]: the fit that I think of when I think of Jonathan coming up because it's that's not to Jonathan coming in that's more because that's where this roster is that's where this organization is right now with this season going into this season and so like I when I think of Jonathan coming up I'm more thinking of like the low risk because he is so young because he is so athletic and because this team doesn't have an identity doesn't have [SPEAKER_04]: uh, a nest like exactly where they're going to go next season and what they're going to be.
[SPEAKER_04]: So it's like, yeah, you might as well like add to the mumble jumble, but with some youth.
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's got Perry.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, it's got Perry bought a house.
[SPEAKER_02]: That is a big time fix her up.
[SPEAKER_02]: And he gets into and there's a there's some potential.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: You know what?
[SPEAKER_02]: Nice back yard.
[SPEAKER_02]: There's something here, right?
[SPEAKER_04]: First when you did say that, like, Scott Perry bought a house and it's a fix for opera.
[SPEAKER_04]: I was like, how do you know this?
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just talking about this example.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, then, you know, you start digging around and you get some contract.
[SPEAKER_02]: The contractors come out and you're like, oh my god.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: Look at this major leak underneath the house.
[SPEAKER_02]: So foundations are all right.
[SPEAKER_02]: So even if you replace the windows, the house is a nice, yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: So coming in, it's not like, [SPEAKER_02]: Here's how I put it.
[SPEAKER_02]: I think if this could deal ends up happening and the kings and wars figure out whatever needs to happen, they execute this deal, the kings are going to get clowned.
[SPEAKER_02]: And they're going to be a clown because they're going to look care.
[SPEAKER_02]: If they're off seasons like, wow, they added Kaminka and Westbrook.
[SPEAKER_02]: Two guys who can't hit threes.
[SPEAKER_02]: What is this team?
[SPEAKER_02]: Is there a green one?
[SPEAKER_02]: Shooter.
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, what is this squad?
[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to get a lot of that.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm going to maintain.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's not about this year.
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm like, who can.
[SPEAKER_04]: Hey, clown.
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't care.
[SPEAKER_04]: Clown it.
[SPEAKER_04]: Clown it.
[SPEAKER_04]: I just get to give a shit.
[SPEAKER_02]: I know there's a lot.
[SPEAKER_02]: We have a leak underneath the house right now.
[SPEAKER_02]: I need some new windows.
[SPEAKER_02]: There's been, I need some new windows.
[SPEAKER_04]: So many years where like, I'm like, God, the kings are always just getting shit on.
[SPEAKER_04]: Like, in times like, they really don't deserve it.
[SPEAKER_04]: Just people, it's like, it's been the reputation over so many years, whatever.
[SPEAKER_04]: And that's where this year, do it.
[SPEAKER_04]: Don't care.
[SPEAKER_04]: I literally don't care because I have no emotional connection to, to I guess my expectations and what it's going to be this year.
[SPEAKER_04]: And I think that can actually end up making a lot more fun for me.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's amazing.
[SPEAKER_02]: The mental gymnastics we have to do as King's fans.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, you know, if this happens, it changes our mindset.
[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe we enjoy the season more even if it's bad.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: Who's down for the ride?
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I think we talked about from Golden State's perspective of like, hey, Mullig Monk in a first for coming.
[SPEAKER_02]: I like, why would you do that?
[SPEAKER_02]: Now, the other subplot, that law of fans, I mentioned.
[SPEAKER_02]: Same thing, like added to his piece was just the, hey, they would have to move additional souring.
[SPEAKER_02]: That's moody or buddy healed.
[SPEAKER_02]: I think, you know, if you're choosing one of move, I would move buddy.
[SPEAKER_02]: I would keep moody because of his size and length.
[SPEAKER_02]: And I like his game.
[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like he should be a bigger part of their rotation.
[SPEAKER_02]: But you got to remember, this is also holding up other moves right now for them, right?
[SPEAKER_02]: We talked about the Anthony Melner trying to bring him back.
[SPEAKER_02]: Alfred's another guy, GP-II.
[SPEAKER_02]: I think was the other one.
[SPEAKER_02]: So there's all this stuff that is just hanging here because [SPEAKER_04]: Cominga and the warriors are on the same on the same page so August what second August second maybe maybe training camp end of September So the deadline for him to pick up that.
[SPEAKER_04]: Thank you.
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, the qualifying offer.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, if Cominga goes hey, you know, let's screw this [SPEAKER_02]: I'm getting what I want.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm picking.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm doing the quote.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm a greens the qualifying offer seven point nine million.
[SPEAKER_02]: He has to do that by October first, which is a start.
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_02]: So there's some time here, but that option I just don't that one's tough for me because that could be the desperate one though.
[SPEAKER_04]: Or I'm sorry, like if all else fails.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I get it, but for him, it's like, okay, so what if, like, you don't really, you're making seven point nine million, you've got like a no trade clause in there, and then they're not playing you.
[SPEAKER_02]: What's that mean for you an unrestricted free agency next year?
[SPEAKER_02]: Our team's lining up, and that's the situation.
[SPEAKER_02]: So there's not many great options here.
[SPEAKER_04]: So if, I mean, I guess if you're Kaminga and nothing goes your way, don't you just take the two year or whatever, because it's like you're making, I mean, just making like ten more million or what.
[SPEAKER_02]: But then you don't totally get a control where you get traded to.
[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't know if that matters for him too.
[SPEAKER_02]: Like if the, you know, and I think for him, there is a peel and sock.
[SPEAKER_02]: I know it seems crazy, but the peel and sacramental is.
[SPEAKER_04]: I love sacramental.
[SPEAKER_02]: No, but, you know, as a man, the peel is.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, they kind of believe in me.
[SPEAKER_02]: They're investing in me a starting spot in more opportunity.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_02]: And he may not get that everywhere.
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, if they send them somewhere else where he's come off the bench, maybe he's frustrated.
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_04]: And maybe his agent is telling him, like, hey, you could be a star here.
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't like, I don't know.
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_02]: Go back to the Kings for a second.
[SPEAKER_04]: Sure.
[SPEAKER_04]: What?
[SPEAKER_02]: When that you close your eyes and you hear an alert come in.
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_02]: I want you to picture it, actually.
[SPEAKER_02]: Here we go.
[SPEAKER_02]: Morgan, close your eyes with an update.
[SPEAKER_02]: Malik Monk in a first round pick to the Warriors for Jonathan Kaminga.
[SPEAKER_02]: How do you feel about that from the Sacramento standpoint?
[SPEAKER_04]: It feels like you're my therapist.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_04]: So I have to dig deep.
[SPEAKER_04]: Um, okay.
[SPEAKER_04]: Uh, you know what?
[SPEAKER_04]: First thing was like, oh, sad.
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm gonna leave Monk.
[SPEAKER_02]: Malik Monk in a lawyer's jersey kind of makes me sick and you know damn well he's coming to Sacramento and he's gonna improve I think almost a heel roll a little bit I think he'll get an amazing ovation but then it's like it's over after I think he'd have a chip on a shoulder to be trying to go dunk on some bonuses had yeah of course I mean isn't there obviously with Charlotte for different reasons yeah this one yeah I mean but it just [SPEAKER_04]: This is where he's had his best, some of his best basketball being played in his career here in Sacramento.
[SPEAKER_04]: And he's wearing a warrior's jersey.
[SPEAKER_04]: Getting traded away, getting traded away at team being like, we don't want you.
[SPEAKER_02]: But also the fact he gets to go to wars.
[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that that's a fair one.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm just such a big Malik monk fan over the years.
[SPEAKER_02]: He's been one of my favorite kings.
[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
[SPEAKER_02]: So it would bum me out if that ended up being the case, but I also understand it.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's that's where I'm at.
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm just in full understanding mode and.
[SPEAKER_04]: And I think that.
[SPEAKER_04]: that mode, I still expect like, I don't know, a style of basketball to be played next year.
[SPEAKER_04]: And when I say that, I don't think it's going to be just complete trash.
[SPEAKER_04]: Like, I think you do have competitors on this team that do want to play well.
[SPEAKER_04]: And if things like that were even done, well, I mean, Jonathan Kominga would also have a chip on his shoulder.
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, like, okay, it's my time of shine kind of [SPEAKER_04]: or whatever, you know, it's like, well, Keegan and he's at your time to shine too.
[SPEAKER_04]: So take that ball back.
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, it's just like all those things.
[SPEAKER_04]: I think next year, we're going to see if there's tweaks that are made and people aren't salty going into the season for the Sacramento Kings because tweaks are made.
[SPEAKER_04]: Then yeah, I think we could see some [SPEAKER_04]: Some people that just like want it.
[SPEAKER_04]: There's like a different type of one, even if it is kind of weird.
[SPEAKER_02]: The thing I'm really interested in is if somehow this deal gets worked out and we keep to him.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, coming is going to come in to be the starter.
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, like, well, tomorrow to Rose and so on the team.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: Does this trigger?
[SPEAKER_02]: And another trade, like maybe there's something else out there that they, they're waiting on before this deal gets done or something.
[SPEAKER_04]: Because in other words, it doesn't come off the bench.
[SPEAKER_04]: And you say that, but like you know, that's not the case.
[SPEAKER_04]: We've already talked about those things.
[SPEAKER_04]: Who's going to the bench?
[SPEAKER_04]: We've already talked about that in a perfect world.
[SPEAKER_04]: And that's what we would want.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'd like to keep in hurry off the bench.
[SPEAKER_02]: I lose my mind.
[SPEAKER_02]: They would.
[SPEAKER_02]: They would.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_02]: Then who's shooter starting?
[SPEAKER_04]: I know you say this to me.
[SPEAKER_02]: Is shooter starting?
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: Levine.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_02]: Keegan.
[SPEAKER_02]: Keegan.
[SPEAKER_04]: Uh-huh.
[SPEAKER_02]: Coming up easier.
[SPEAKER_04]: Uh-huh.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's a bonus.
[SPEAKER_02]: You don't get six stars.
[SPEAKER_02]: So who's not?
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, maybe it would be tomorrow we're coming in and coming in and coming off the bench.
[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
[SPEAKER_04]: I know.
[SPEAKER_04]: But you just you say there's no way but there's no way to come to suck.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, but although I agree with tomorrow coming off the bench.
[SPEAKER_04]: You know how many times we've heard like, Oh, you can't do that.
[SPEAKER_04]: You can't do that to him.
[SPEAKER_04]: You can't do that with his resume.
[SPEAKER_04]: You can't do that to him.
[SPEAKER_04]: You can't do that to him.
[SPEAKER_04]: You can't do that to him.
[SPEAKER_04]: You can't do that to him.
[SPEAKER_04]: You can't do that to him.
[SPEAKER_04]: You can't do that to him.
[SPEAKER_04]: You can't do that to him.
[SPEAKER_04]: You can't do that to him.
[SPEAKER_04]: You can't do that to him.
[SPEAKER_04]: You can't do that to him.
[SPEAKER_04]: You can't do that to him.
[SPEAKER_02]: For the amount of time, the collective basketball communities of Sacramento in San Francisco, I have spent talking about Jonathan Kominga.
[SPEAKER_02]: This guy better turned out to be an all star.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, stop.
[SPEAKER_02]: I was just laughing about how much time everyone has talked about this.
[SPEAKER_02]: There's a month ago, James Hames, like, fourth of July weekend fireworks, look out.
[SPEAKER_02]: And then like, it's August second, you're like, man, this is, wow, this is still going on.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but that's, I mean, again, that's also basketball at the NBA.
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, how many times have people talked about like, number one picks or top five picks, lottery pick or whatever, and they end up just being a complete bus?
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, like, people we talk about things and we talk about the potential.
[SPEAKER_04]: And that's what we're talking about with Jonathan Kominga and even Warriors fans are scared of what that potential can be.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, so scared.
[SPEAKER_02]: That's stuff, Kurt.
[SPEAKER_02]: You've won multiple championships.
[SPEAKER_04]: But I'm just saying why you're hearing those.
[SPEAKER_04]: I know.
[SPEAKER_04]: Both those sides and conversations from all these different fan bases about Jonathan Kominga.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I'm curious.
[SPEAKER_02]: Warriors fans, Kings fans and BA fans, you basketball sickos.
[SPEAKER_02]: How do you think this plays out?
[SPEAKER_02]: Where is Kominga playing this next season?
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, let us know on our YouTube page or in the Spotify comments.
[SPEAKER_02]: We appreciate you guys, but we got to go.
[SPEAKER_00]: Who said no?
[SPEAKER_00]: They tell you what they know?
[SPEAKER_00]: Who said no?
[SPEAKER_00]: Who said no?
[SPEAKER_00]: Who said no?
[SPEAKER_00]: Who said no?
[SPEAKER_00]: The podcast that you know?
[SPEAKER_00]: Who said no?
