Episode Transcript
Hello, and welcome back to the MATHSNY podcast with me Joshah Fox and can you believe we are here once again?
The show is back, public outrages already back, and I'm back with some spoilers, commentary and inside information on this year's Totien villain Chris, that I guarantee will put a smile on your face.
Let's get straight to it, Chris.
Now, before I get to the spoiler, let me just, you know, recap what we've watched tonight and how we're all feeling.
And you know, as I sat down to watch tonight's episode, I did think to myself, surely it's impossible for this show to find men worse than the ones last year and the year before and all that we've seen before, Like, surely we as a nation have now exhausted the worst straight men we have out there in Australia and it can only get better.
And for a few minutes, I genuinely did think, all right, these guys seem all right, Maybe we've actually pulled off the impossible.
Speaker 2And then Chris arrived.
Speaker 3I'm Chris from album and tend to make a really strong first impression.
Speaker 4People really love me or hate me?
Speaker 5What turned you off?
Speaker 2Fake Dane, Needy and fair pay.
Speaker 1I also think that Married at First Sight won a new record tonight because it took just eleven minutes into the first episode of the season for this show to piss off the majority of yours by introducing those to Chris, this man who is so unlikable that we all collectively wanted to throw something at our TVs.
Speaker 5It's not it's not all about the personality.
Speaker 1Surely, what's going to be your red play almost a deal breaker if you got one.
Speaker 5Overweight nay like It can be harsh, but I'm not not afraid.
Speaker 6To say I don't go down the strata.
Speaker 5If I have a general interest in someone, they're generally going to be fit and healthy, fat people.
Speaker 2No go, no go.
Speaker 1Like recording this in the ad break, now, I'm actually a loss of words of how to describe Chris.
Actually, no, I've found too dickhead like.
This is a man who has literally already reduced female viewers that tears.
Remember Lovely Kty from last year.
This weekend, just after seeing his backstory being promoted in adverts on the Telly, she shared this video what people.
Speaker 4Like this do to others and if it's knowingly done to others, which it is, whether she's curvy or not, tall or short, blonde, brunette or redhead, it's not that that matters.
They've knowingly put this person in hum's way and they don't know, they don't know.
Speaker 2What this can do to somebody.
Speaker 4So you tell me, where's the duty of care there?
Speaker 1And you know, men like Chris, they'll say, oh, I'm just being honest or I've just got a type book.
Nah, Like they're just being hateful.
Like it's it's not brutal honesty.
It's just a brutal attempt to make any person out there who doesn't fit your version of perfection just feel unworthy, unlovable and just shit about themselves.
Anyway, Now for the little spoiler.
If you're like me and you just saw that snippet of him at the books party and you thought, do I really want this mine of my teally for the next two months, Like do I want to use my spare time to watch him and his views and kind of just endure him on our tellies?
And like I'm saying this after what he was only in the episode for ten minutes tonight at the start.
Well, the good news for you is, and again spoiler alert, He's not going to be on the show for very long.
I think two weeks at best.
And I'm not going to go into the exact specifics now or spoil too far ahead because i know you guys prefer like soft spoilers rather than just the here's the stat, middle and end.
So this is like a teaser spoiler maybe message if you actually do just want hard spoilers.
But what I will say is regardless like what we may watch over the next week of him and his wife.
I think they first hit it off at the honeymoon.
Trust me when I say it doesn't last long.
She sees straight through him, and there is a big thing that happens, and at one point she was like nap see yea and yeah, flew home, but then she came back.
And then there was another big thing that happened off Cambra that basically changed everything.
And then he was made to leave within forty eight hours of that thing happening.
And again I won't go into too much of it in this little podcast, but just please enjoy that not late that his infamy is going to be short and not even sweet.
Moving on from the books party in Chris Now and over to the Hen's Night.
After last year's season, you know, it ended with that girl power moment, all the brides coming together.
They're like, yeah, we don't need no man.
The sisterhood.
Yeah, the girls.
I did think, oh, maybe this year, this season's pick up where that you know, ended have another lovely group of women supporting each other, empowering each other.
And for a few minutes again it did think like, oh, this might happen.
And then Gia arrived and she took an instant dislike to basically everybody.
Beck was then the most vocal kind of back at Jea and let's just say it's gonna get very messy between them.
And again, I won't go too much into it here.
I'll wait till closer to those episodes, but yeah, brace yourselves.
Elsewhere in the first episode, we were introduced to TikTok Star and nurse Alyssa.
Speaker 5Who's your daddy, I'm my daddy.
Who's a slave queen?
I'm a sleepqueen.
I'm Alyssa.
Speaker 7I'm from Adelaide and I'm a nurse and social media manager.
Speaker 5You're gonna have a protected day, Yeah, I'm gonna have a protected day.
We're gonna get you done.
You other love me or you don't.
Speaker 4I need a daddy.
Speaker 5Hopefully you find me a daddy.
Speaker 7I'm confident enough to know that I'm not gonna be liked by everyone, but I will always be authentic.
Speaker 1And did she get her daddy will?
Speaker 2Kind of?
Speaker 1She was matched with rapper David, who's actually quite sweet and quite religious and has a soft side despite you know, the whole rapper vibe.
You probably think foot.
Speaker 2Boy and like.
Speaker 1For the first maybe minute, like it looked like okay, this could work, but then their wedding became horrifically awkward.
Speaker 3When this happened, I now ask if any person present has a genuine reason as to why these two should not be joined in marriage, please speak now or forever.
Speaker 1Hold your peace.
Speaker 5I'm really really sorry.
Speaker 2What's she saying?
Speaker 5I don't think I can marry not until we get on one knee and propose.
Speaker 2To Wow, do I have to do it right now?
Speaker 5Yeah?
Speaker 1You have to get on one knee now.
Maybe I'm being too woke here and overthinking this, but this is where my mind genuinely went as this scene dragged on earlier tonight and we all watch it like like what is happening?
But to me seeing like Alyssa, this privileged young white girl, like a little TikTok star who's kind of been presented as you know, maybe a bit superficial, seeing her standing there demanding David, who is a black man, demanding he gets down on one knee and you know, takes the knee in front of a room full of strangers and saying we're not getting married or we're not continuing this until you do that.
Like to me once he said, nah, I don't really want to do that.
For her to then keep going nah do it?
Do it?
Like that felt like just a little bit off given like the significance of taking then and how over like what is it the last five or six years, like getting down on one knee aside from proposing, it's kind of like now a symbolic gesture protesting racial inequality, systematic racism, and police brutality, and like, yeah, as I said, when when Dave was like, nah, I don't really want to do that, the way she was like nah I do it, and like all these people are watching, and she was like very firm, do it.
To me, it was a bit like ah, this feels weird and like, and I know Alyssa just meant it in the proposal way, but like, yeah, maybe she should have been like, oh, yeah, no worries when he went nah, because again that's where my mind went.
And then yeah, after a very awkward standoff for a few minutes, Dave eventually did get down on one knee.
He gave in, she won, and then the wedding continued.
And yeah, Alyssa's vows were quite interesting.
Speaker 5All right, buckle up.
I'm Melissa, her wife.
Speaker 7Normally I make men work a lot harder for my attention, but here we are skipping straight to the vowels.
Speaker 5Lucky you.
I'm not here for a three month holiday.
I'm here because I don't want to waste a second more half my time.
Speaker 7I want the house, the holidays, first off back to then off your baby.
I dream of a big, beautiful life, slow Sunday mornings, tangled in the sheets, tiny humans in matching pj's morning coffee is in bed, and if you're taking notes, I am along black.
Speaker 5But to make it a double tomorrow morning, you know, true, true, And don't forget to kiss me good night every single night.
And I definitely won't let you take the good side of the bed.
Are you a lefty or alrighty?
Speaker 2I feel like I'm alrighty.
Speaker 5Should was out of this ordas right now?
Speaker 2All right?
Speaker 5Sorry, Charlie, you're shuffling over.
Speaker 1Alyssa did then get a little bit vulnerable in the rest of her vows and like she was then presented towards viewers as like something over than like the superficial TikTok girl.
We kind of already thought she was with the whole slay queen daddy.
Speaker 7I've loved before, I've shared a home made plans and thought I found my forever, but it wasn't And when it ended, it broke me in ways I didn't see coming.
I had to face the silence, the nights where I questioned my worth.
Speaker 5And the fear that maybe I'd never find that kind of love again.
Speaker 1Yeah, I don't know.
I feel like she may becomes someone who becomes popular and we really like rally behind her, especially when you remember she is a pediatric nurse and you know there just has to be more to her than that slay daddy TikTok shit.
But time will tell.
Those two did seem to hit it off.
When I saw them filming maybe two weeks later, they still seemed happy.
So there's a little spoiler there there, at least last two weeks.
Moving on to the second couple who got married during the first episode, Rachel and Steven.
Now, Rachel hasn't had a relationship for fourteen years.
She's kind of been strung along by a lot of men.
She's got quite a few insecurities she's been vocal about, like when it comes to her appearance, she says she's never been with a man who makes her feel attractive.
Speaker 8He is worth of unsuccessful dating.
Speaker 5It has really really like.
Speaker 8Chips away, you're confident.
I've tried the dating albs.
I've not had any success personally, I don't fit that physical checklist.
These beauty standards that come from Instagram really sends this message out of like, Okay, well this is what girls should look like.
Speaker 5Not all girls look like this.
Speaker 1So to get over this, Rachel has decided to go on a show where the bloke she's matched with will instantly judge her based on her appearance in front of the entire country.
And she's also put her trust in free experts.
With the worst record you've ever heard who we all know want this couple to crash and burn in front of the entire country, which I hope doesn't happen, as they do seem lovely, but let's be honest, this is married at first sight for now, though they do seem to have hit it off, and the highlight of their wedding was Rachel's laugh as.
Speaker 6I take this momentus step and make it official and become a married couple.
Sorry today they make this aagreement, share this life hand in hand.
Speaker 1And that's it.
Guys.
That's the first part of the series.
I'll be back tomorrow, probably depending what's in episode two.
Stay tuned, subscribe wherever you get your pards.
It's going to be a shit show.
Trust me, say yeah.
