Episode Transcript
Hello and welcome to the Women Conquer Business Show.
I'm Jen McFarland, joined by Shelley Carney.
We're your go-to small business marketing show covering breaking marketing news that affects you cool apps we found, and a deep dive into a marketing topic with a side of motivation and inspir.
We'll also talk a little about our own entrepreneurial journeys as well.
Are you ready?
Let's get started.
Hey, how you doing, Shelley?
Hey,
Shelleyeverybody.
We're here.
JenWe are here.
Welcome to Women Conquer Business.
Today we are going to talk about how to create your first Evergreen webinar.
On a recent episode, how to find the perfect opt-in to boost sales.
We touched on a next level marketing technique or tactic about using Evergreen webinars to build a relationship with a prospect and guide them toward making a purchase with you.
And it was funny because Shelley and I talked about it and we were like, That would be a good episode, right?
Like I mentioned that I had the ability to do.
And so we are gonna go back and go through this and explore the basics of creating your first Evergreen webinar funnel, including the apps we use and how to set it up.
I used to give frequent webinars before Covid and in an early time of Covid, so I've given a lot of live webinars and presentations.
I haven't obviously set up my first Evergreen webinar funnel, so I'm pretty excited to talk about this.
I do think that it's something that isn't for everyone, and it's good to know how to do it, how easy it can be, and it's just something to have in the back of your mind.
If you like video, if you like reaching out to people in that way, and it's frequently how you do it, it might be a good fit for a lot of people who are listening to or watching.
Yay, including Shelley.
Yes,
Shelleyme too.
I have done the web.
I've taken webinars or I've appeared as a participant on a webinar, but I have never done one or set one up as a funnel or any of that.
So this is all very fascinating
Jento me.
Yeah, it's really great.
Everyone should at least know and understand the principles of a webinar.
If not because you plan to do it yourself so that you know the general structure of it and you can really be discerning about whether or not you want to attend a webinar because you'll be able, we're gonna go over that structure today and you'll be able to understand how it works and how the structure is based on, almost entirely based on trying to convert you as a customer, depending on how aggress.
Some of these webinars are, as someone who's a teacher myself, my webinars always tend to go a little bit further towards teaching than into a real direct high pressure sales situation.
I don't really recommend a high pressure sales situation.
I think it's always good for people to see what you are, like, what?
What's good for people to experience from you.
Everybody's different.
we're gonna talk about it in generalities, in the hopes that you all will be able to make it your own.
Yes.
ShelleyI've done something similar.
Toby and I did a series of short videos.
I think it was five videos and we call it a mini course.
But it's basically the same as a webinar and we just never really set it up as a funnel.
We never really got.
Too many people to go through it.
So we need to talk more about the marketing of it and getting people to go through it, and then where you want them to end up when they finish watching it.
So that's important stuff.
JenYeah.
Yeah.
But first, so what?
But first you wanna talk about breaking news.
ShelleyBreaking news, what's happening?
JenAll right.
This is something we've talked.
Four and we're bringing it up again because it continues to happen.
So now TikTok is adding maps, location tracking, and there's even more talk again about TikTok being the future.
Google.
And so there are a few things, and this has come up before, I think we've even talked about what near media has said about it.
There's a couple of different articles, we'll put both in the show notes.
But 40% of Zoomers are Shing search and maps.
That's significant at this point that, that.
40% of Gen Z or Zoomers aren't going to
ShelleyGoogle.
I, Okay.
I have got to say, Zoomers, this is the first time I've really heard anybody call Gen Z Zoomers.
I guess that's as opposed to boomers.
I like it.
JenBecause I always felt like why is everybody stealing Gen X?
Cuz I'm Gen X.
So I like it that it's Zooms I'm generation Jones, so you know You're your own generation.
That's right.
Generation.
ShelleyHave you not heard of Generation Jones?
No.
Oh it's between boomers and Gen X.
It's because Gen Generat children, Gen X and boomers kept moving their years slightly up or slightly down.
And then there was this from like 1957 to 1964 generation that was just lost.
So they started calling US Generation Jones.
JenOh, that's interesting.
Yeah.
I've never heard of that.
Yeah.
I think we just kept co curbing our years.
Cause we didn't, we wanted, Be a part of the boomers.
Yeah.
ShelleyOk, Boomer.
Ok.
Zoomer.
JenOkay.
Zoomer.
So we know that people younger than us, since we're generation Jones, which is made up by the way, and also are they all, come on, They're all made up and younger than us, that they are not using Google for search.
They're not using maps.
They do not trust.
For some reason, they trust TikTok and Reddit more than Google.
That's somewhat understandable because there are a lot of scammy blogs out there, and honestly, Google hasn't kept up necessarily with the times, but it's likely to shift again because these things always do we don't know.
But what we are finding is that TikTok is of course not sleeping on this and is finding ways to attract more Zoomers and get people.
Engaged with TikTok locations.
It's also being reported in your media that, and this is also not surprising that many local businesses are still falling short when it comes to really going local and really paying attention to their local markets first, especially in retail, especially I would say even, especially in online businesses, people oftentimes, Overlook the people who are their neighbor before they, and they just try to make it big without realizing that you need to conquer your local market first.
And I've worked really hard in my local market at this point, and I'm ready to go in a lot of different directions beyond that.
But I did the work here first.
I did a lot to really test the market, find out what people needed.
I worked with a lot of people that has worked really well for.
and then you expand out.
Mm-hmm.
And there are a lot of businesses out there that are not working in that way.
And I think it's really important to do it.
So take advantage of all of your social platforms that you can just be have it set up.
You don't have to use it.
Get your Google business profile set up.
Have your links available on there.
If you are catering to Zoomers younger generations, make sure you're using things like Reddit and TikTok and getting out there and getting your information out there.
And then take advantage as much as you can of the local markets as you go to grow your business.
Your friends are gonna be your first people.
ShelleyYou're great.
You're right.
And Toby and I have been getting more into that recently.
And of course I think everybody probably is now that we're not in their lockdown anymore, we're not so afraid of covid.
We have our boosters and everything we can get out locally.
We can go to events, we can meet up with people we haven't seen in a couple of years and say, What are you doing now?
And here's what we offer.
And we can surprise each other again with what we're doing, cuz we've all kind of pivoted and taken on more technology.
So it's a really good time to get back out in your local community, as Jen has said.
Go to your farmer's markets.
Go to your go to events that are happening.
Go on a day, trip around your city, see what's going.
Hook up with people you haven't seen in a while and start offering your services again.
Yeah,
Jenabsolutely.
Get out there, get out there and do it.
Take advantage of all the tools that are available to you as a local business to grow and even if you're an online business, there are still things you can do in your local market to, especially if we really are heading toward a recession, it's really wise to continue to be known in your local area.
ShelleyCorrect.
So that you're top of mind when they
Jendo, you're top of
Shelleymind.
That's right.
And you may end up bartering, I'll give, I'll do this for you if you do that for me.
And I, It's a service that I need.
And you need a service for me.
That's right.
We have to think of many new things to to try when times are tough.
JenThat's right.
I have two bosses.
Does anybody want two bosses for a.
Boston, Terri, or I'm just kidding.
I would never trade my dog for work.
Okay.
I was like, What the what?
But they do bark a lot and sometimes I think about it.
ShelleyI'll trade you two dogs for one small child,
JenThat's what my neighbor always says.
Cause I'm always like, Do you want Booker Booker's my favorite.
My favorites.
Little ay, but he barks a lot.
And Matt, my neighbor is Okay, but which kid do you want Because he has two little kids.
And I'm like, Nevermind.
Good, good.
Shelleysquash, I don't know.
JenSo are we ready for some.
We're doing it.
All right, so let's power up into webinar basics.
ShelleyWhat is a webinar?
Jen
JenI don't know.
What is it, Shelley?
What is a
Shelleywebinar?
A webinar is a combination of the word seminar and on the web, right?
So you are taking a seminar.
Most seminars, as we have learned, are a way for sales people to tell you all about their product and answer all of your objections and tell you why it's the most wonderful thing on the face of the planet.
And you must have it now Yes.
JenYes.
And webinars have thankfully evolved.
I.
Beyond that.
I think some people still do that.
They still do.
The Tony Robbins run to the back of the room.
The software expires in five seconds kind of deal.
But modern day webinars really are about providing value.
So in terms of what you can do, think of webinars as a great way to collect some names and email addresses.
We talk about building a profit.
Email list.
This is one way of doing it.
Tell us, share your ideas with people.
Generate interest around your ideas.
Tell people about your services, but you also have to provide a lot of value along the way.
Give people one to two steps that they can take, help them, and then make an offer.
Certainly you still wanna make an offer.
It's not about not making the offer, but it's about making sure that people get something along the way.
It's no longer.
I'm here to sell ya my widget.
And that's what web seminars used to be more about what it used to be just about this ra ra ra.
I'm telling you, and I think I mentioned before that my favorite webinars are put on by click minded.
That is not an organization for everybody.
Like it's kind of like super nerd tech marketing process stuff.
It's like totally up my alley, but I tell you, I go to their webinars like somebody, Gail, if you're listening, she's my accountant business partner.
If she's watching, like she needs to just block those emails from ever coming into my inbox.
Cuz if I.
They're, they have the best webinars.
That's an hour.
The hour flies by.
I learned so much stuff in that hour and then I'm just ready to buy whatever I'm like, Wait, you're gonna tell me even more about this thing that I just took copious notes about?
If I don't know about it, then, if I didn't know about that topic before then I'm really on board with doing it.
That's an excellent example of it.
Mm-hmm.
What we're gonna talk about today.
So one of the downsides of webinars is oftentimes you have to be there in front of people and sometimes you can't be there.
Or maybe there are people who are, If you're an online business, they're coming to your website from other countries, other time ones.
It's not convenient for them to go to a webinar that you may be putting on in your local community or that you're sharing online at a certain time.
That makes sense.
It doesn't make sense for the other.
So that's where we start getting into things like evergreen webinars.
So an evergreen webinar is an on-demand webinar, meaning I go to your website, I can watch it whenever I want.
it's gonna show it to me now cuz I'm here now.
Mm-hmm.
and you don't have to be presenting it live.
Now that said, you can do a lot of things to provide them with a live like experience, depending on whether or not you're using Evergreen webinar software to do that.
Before we talk about the software and kind of some of those nuts and.
Why don't you, Shelley, talk a little bit about kind of the video techniques, the different things that you can be doing to emphasize and make your webinar better, And part of that is also some of the things that we should be including in our webinars.
ShelleyBecause you are not live, you need to do something to keep people's interest.
Always start off with your face on screen, even if you're going to be doing a slide presentation or showing graphics of some kind.
You want people to connect with you, that you want them to know that you're a real person, even though this is not live.
You are a real person and you are the person that they will be working with if they should choose to sign up.
So at the beginning and at the end, you wanna be full face, full frame.
Make sure your lighting's good.
Make sure your audio is good.
There are many, many products available for you to use to record your.
We use Streamy Yard, but you can use something like Zoom or Riverside, or there's lots and lots of products that will record you sitting in your your space.
Again, have your background be very.
Nice and neat.
And the foreground, you should be well lit so that they can see your face and you look good and bright and upbeat.
You wanna have that good energy when you're doing a video.
And the nice thing about a recorded video is you can edit it if you need to, but if you practice and you have your slide set up, you shouldn't really need to.
Do much in the way of editing.
You should be able to just, Okay, I've got my stuff.
I've rehearsed it once, I'm ready to go and shoot it.
And then if you wanna go through later in edit, you can.
And do you have any questions about
Jenvideo?
No.
I love it.
Yeah.
I think that's all true.
Yeah.
And you can, like you said, you can record a million different ways.
Mm-hmm.
it's perfect.
Yeah.
ShelleyBut keep people's interest, keep it, keep it active.
And, and if you need a lot of, not too much, not a lot of boom, boom, boom, a bunch of video clips because you want it to look you want it look natural as well.
JenNo, you don't want sound effects the whole time.
ShelleyNo.
And you want it to look natural, right?
Cause people are going to go, they don't, you don't want it to look like a commercial.
You don't wanna look like, You're a paid actor to be there.
You want to be passionate and focused on that one person who is watching your
Jenwebinar.
Yeah, absolutely.
And that's what makes like an evergreen webinar presentation different from live.
When you're live, you're interacting with other people, you.
doing shout outs, looking at people's comments, that kind of thing.
Mm-hmm.
you can do a live webinar and turn that into an evergreen webinar.
I think primarily what we're talking about here is you're pre-recording something.
For the specific purpose of an evergreen webinar, I think that that hits people better.
Frankly, if you're gonna see an on demand evergreen webinar, you want to feel like you are in that presentation the first time.
And I think that that's a really important part of it.
Following all of Shelley's tips, really, it will make people feel special, and you don't have to have the sound effects that I just used That was a joke.
I never get to use my buttons over here, so I just wanted to touch button.
Shelleyyou can play with your buttons whenever you
Jenwant.
Are we still talking about the same thing?
Yes.
So what, What should you include in your webinar?
When we talked about it before the show, we found that we each had the same arc for what a webinar is.
So what a webinar.
Includes, mm-hmm.
And in fact, the kind of, I don't think we're gonna do a full demo, but a brief demo of what the webinar software tool that I use, it goes through some of those steps, and how you are triggering different things to happen.
But when you think about what you really need to be talking about, we're really talking about a way to introduce yourself to people, because a lot of.
People attending webinars, they may not know you.
They may or may not, but you kind have to assume that they don't like that.
They're coming to you and they don't know you, and then you wanna introduce the problem.
You don't wanna spend too much time talking about yourself, This is really about the problem that you are solving for them.
For example, the webinar that I have uploaded into webinar kit that we're gonna talk about, it's really.
How do you find it's, It was, this webinar actually so funny is the precursor to the course that I released on epiphany courses, which is how to find the right marketing tools for your small business.
This was the first iteration of it and I had set all this up back in 2021 and I had the whole, it falls through this whole cycle of how it works.
So I Did you do a brief intro of your.
Introduce the problem, which is that there's 8,000 different marketing tools out there, and how do you even know how to pick the right thing without blowing your budget?
All of that kind of thing.
Ben, the next step after you introduce the problem, which is also your way of saying to people, I understand, I get you.
I know that this is hard.
I know that this isn't easy for everybody, and sometimes if you have it, you can share your hero's journey story, which is how you over.
This problem in.
In this case.
The problem that I have, and I think I even admitted it in my webinar, is not that I get overwhelmed with software.
It's that I love software so much that I wanna try it all.
So I have a slightly different problem because I used to test software for a living.
So I like testing software.
Most people, the problem is slightly different in that there are so many options and they don't know how to choose it or what to choose.
So if you had that same problem and you wanna share how you overcame it, Become the professional that you are.
You can do that.
The next step is showing people what it's like to solve it.
You're giving people valuable tips.
You're giving people exactly what they can do to save time and money and increase the value of their business.
In the case of the webinar example that I have, it's like how do you save yourself time?
It's a hassle to change different software all the time.
It can be really expense.
It stinks here's some tips.
Here's how you select what it is that you wanna use.
Here's exactly what you do.
And here, and I had in my webinar a worksheet for them to get started and then an offer to work with me if that's what they wanted to do, to have a guide to help them through this process.
Typically, you offer a discount with your product because you're gifting someone.
Something for having made it all the way to the end of your webinar.
Cuz not everybody stays for the whole thing.
They, some people drop out.
So you wanna tease the offer that you have at the beginning, that you're gonna offer something, give people a lot of value, and then your biggest fans are the people who stay until the end and they get to actually see the offer.
ShelleyI like the worksheet idea.
It's it's something to help it be interactive so that they're paying attention.
I've seen some worksheets where they'll just write The beginning of a sentence that you say, and then you leave a blank line so that they finish with writing the end of your sentence so that they're paying closer attention so that they're getting to check things off as they hear them and write them down so that they do.
They are more likely to stay to the end if they're one of those people who likes, gets a thrill, a dopamine hit when they check something off the list or then they fill in a blank and then they don't, I missed a blank.
Oh no.
So people like that are gonna stick with you.
If it's something that's interactive and they're gonna pay closer attention and they're not gonna have 15 different tabs open and just be half listening while they're working on something else, which is what I do sometimes.
And then I'm just like, Just turn that
Jenoff.
Yeah.
Exactly.
Yeah.
Is there anything else that you would add to the, I guess the structure of what a webinar is?
You can almost fill in the blanks here,
Shelleyyeah I say, You're not waiting for anybody to show up, they're there waiting for you.
So try to jump into the the most interesting stuff right away.
Even if it's like a preview today, I'm gonna be teaching you blah, blah, blah.
And but first, let's start with who I am, so that they at least know, Okay we're gonna keep popping, we're gonna.
And, and I'm going, She's gonna teach me these three things.
And then you teach those three things and then you wrap up with, I taught you these three things so that they remember, Oh yeah, she gave me value.
She did
Jenexactly what she said.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
And and I always start on time, Oh yeah, if I'm doing a live webinar, I start on time.
People come late.
That's that.
You, you want to reward the people who are on.
Yeah, always and really value people's time and end on time.
ShelleyAnd I hate those and I know they do it, but they're like, Tell me where you're from.
And it's Oh, so and so, and I'm from such and such.
And then they read your name and then they read where you're from and it brings that bonding
Jenin.
But it does.
But they're also stalling so that they can get everybody there at the same time.
Yeah.
But there's a couple different ways recorded.
One
ShelleyYeah.
To sit through that
Jenyou don't wanna sit through all that.
Yeah.
Is That's pretty much how, how.
Put yours together as well.
That's a, that's your typical arc when you wrote it down.
It's what you
Shelleystart off with.
Where are you at right now, Your frustrations.
I know who you are, you because I've been there.
And then where you want to be.
What are your goals and what are the feelings that you're after?
So when you get to this goal, when you have this thing that you, this transformation, It's what it is.
It's what you want.
You want the transformation.
You want change, you want life to be better When you get there, how are you gonna feel?
Because the feeling is the important part.
People buy things based on emotionally, feelings, emotions.
Exactly, exactly.
And then they justify it later with logic.
But first it's
Jenfeelings.
First it's feelings, baby.
Yeah.
Always about feelings.
Yeah.
So how do you do this?
This all sounds very complicated, I'm sure like, oh my God, I have to have special software.
How do I do an automated evergreen funnel webinar funnel?
We're gonna go through like a walkthrough on this, but I wanna say that in terms of webinar basics, Shelley went through some of them already, like you can record this on Streamy.
You can upload it as a private YouTube video.
I've seen this happens a lot.
And then you just have an opt-in on your website for, give me your name and email address.
You'll get access to our Evergreen webinar and the link sends them out to the private YouTube video and they can watch it.
And that is your free chief and easy way of doing it.
Like you can do it without a heavy lift.
This doesn't have to.
Something where you're paying a lot for software.
What we're gonna run through is something called Webinar kit.
It is a one time buy that I did a couple years ago.
And then there are other things like webinar, fuel, Ever webinar.
Those are very expensive programs.
We will talk about why something like webinar kit may be interesting or intriguing.
And part of it goes into kind of the funnel.
So we're gonna hit pause on.
Using, talking in depth about some of the fancier webinar software out there.
But we're gonna say you don't have to have it, and we're gonna put a pin and all that and talk a little bit about funnels for just a brief minute.
Before we go into kind what a, what an what setting up an evergreen webinar funnel could look like.
Mm-hmm.
because honestly, if you have an email marketing plus a private YouTube, You're probably not doing a full funnel, you're probably doing parts of it, or it's a different funnel where it's not all in one place, then you might have, I would suggest having follow up emails after they've hopefully watched your YouTube video.
It's just not as tight as if you use some of the software for it.
And part of that is because of that excitement and you can be building.
The excitement with your Evergreen webinar funnel software that is really taking people through the different steps of the funnel.
So the purpose of the funnel, basically all that a funnel is the sales process.
That's it.
Yep.
When we talk about funnels that are online, it's your online sales process, So you can have a funnel that's entirely email marketing and you can.
Like I said, a hybrid.
That's a little of this and a little of that.
But the components of the funnel, especially when we're talking about it here, are really about how you're drawing out that emotion so that people understand the transformation they're gonna get, so they're more likely to convert.
ShelleyYep.
And I think the funnel is okay exciting language in a sales page or in a social media post to get you to the funnel.
Or maybe you talk about it in our podcast, something that's marketing, to get you awareness that this exists, that this is your free gift to people.
Then they go visit.
Landing page and they opt in and then they go watch the webinar and then they have another step after that.
And they start getting that nurturing email series at that
Jenpoint, right?
Absolutely.
Funnels are, can be very complicated.
They can be very simple.
You fundamentally, it's email marketing and a landing page.
You don't have to have ClickFunnels.
Shocking That I would say that you do not saw that in there.
Like you don't keep simple, especially in the beginning.
Yeah.
Keep it simple in the beginning, maybe like your people really aren't into to webinars.
I think one of the reasons I gave up on it was I wasn't really convinced that my people were interested in, in me presenting my how, my thing in that.
I'm open to doing it again.
It's, it is what it is.
everybody's different.
Not everybody is into webinars and sales funnels.
But there is something really nice about having something out there that I, because I like video and because I like teaching I've considered doing a evergreen webinar funnel to get people interested.
My online courses, because guess what?
An online, I could use an evergreen webinar funnel to say, Hey, this is how I teach.
I like teaching.
Here's your taste.
Mm-hmm.
get a taste of what it's like to learn from me.
I want your email address And then at the end maybe there's like a special offer to join the community.
Something like that.
That's something that's relatively simple.
That's a funnel.
And I think that the problem with ClickFunnels and things like that is they make it way too complicated.
More complicated than it needs to be.
Yeah.
It can be something very simple.
So do you wanna talk about how to set up a evergreen webinar funnel?
A do a quick demo?
Yeah, let's do
Shelleythat.
Okay.
JenI don't know why I thought we were gonna have like music or something.
We don't have any demo music.
ShelleyOh,
Jensad.
Let's just
Shelleydo applause.
JenOh my God.
So today we're gonna talk the software.
I wasn't scared.
You didn't warn me, I know.
I was just sprung it on you.
I was like, Oh So this is the software that I have.
This is by no means like what you have to use.
But I do like it because like I said, I bought it over almost two years ago.
It was a one time cost.
So the fact that I didn't use it, it's not like I've been.
Hundreds of dollars every month for something that I'm not using.
It's called Webinar kit.
And it's just the whole point of this is to create a webinar funnel.
That's really the only thing that it does to have webinars that are running 24 hours that you create a little opt in on your website.
And that's at webinar kit dot.
And so here is, this is the old webinar I'm not even sure that I would call this webinar what it's called.
But basically this is the nuts and bolts of how this looks When you go to set it up, you just put in your webinar details, like what's the name of it, what's the title, how long is it?
Do you want it to be active or inactive?
This was actually inactive as of yesterday, and I activated it for.
You can have an attendance sign in required.
So that means that not everybody can just hop into the webinar if they haven't already registered, protects you from having just anybody get the link and come in.
You can add webinar presenters.
What this is a place to put like my picture a little bit about myself.
If I wanted to, I could put my email in, I could put a picture of myself in.
I can also have multiple presenters.
I can add anybody.
And then this is really cool.
This is like you set up a webinar schedule, which means you can have it go a couple of different ways.
You can either do an A, watching it instantly, or just in time session.
So what that means is you can toggle it on.
Somebody says, I wanna watch your webinar.
You see it right?
Or you can make it look like you're presenting it in an hour and next Wednesday and time after that.
And you can set up different times, different time ones for that.
And so you have all these different options when you go in and you decide that you wanna have a webinar.
Now in this particular software, you either need to upload the video or you have to give them a link to the actual MP four, and that's what triggers it.
Being able to play without having to hit play without, I think that when I had this, when I had done this before, I couldn't get it to work and it was because I had a Vimeo link in.
Mm-hmm.
that won't work.
It has to be to the actual mp.
So in this case I uploaded it cause it was just easier.
And then one of the cool, there is a couple cool things about using actual evergreen webinar funnel software is that you have a custom registration page with a countdown timer, all that kind of thing so that you can really set it up with here's what it is, here's what you're gonna get out of it.
Register now.
And if you wanted to put a timer in for like how long before it would happen.
You could totally do that.
You can also create a thank you page where you thank people and there's a countdown to when your webinar will occur.
This is all automated.
You just kinda do it one time and then it'll just keep going and doing it, and then at the end, whoa.
Hey, hey there, Jen This is, you can also set and it started playing.
You can also set, and you've gotten to the.
Of the webinar and it'll automatically set it to replay, so then if somebody missed something, they can do it again.
It's also where you can also do a last opt-in for your handout.
You could also have a button that says Schedule a session.
Now.
It's very custom.
And then it shows when the replay is gonna expire.
So if people sign up, then they have access to the webinar for a week, and then that whole link will expire.
This stuff is really nice to have because you can really reinforce like how important the information is that you're sharing and how you can help people.
So then in, you can also set it up to, in this software and in other webinar funnel software, you can also set it up to ask questions.
Automated.
It's like a chat bot that's like, how do you feel about this?
These are different ways that you.
Automate when you start setting up offers and giving offers to people.
So you're getting people excited and in the chat you can toggle in questions and then capture the answers, and it tells you a little bit more about your people and how they feel about the different elements of the webinar.
You can also set it up to have poles.
Automate when handouts are available for people, so that as they're watching then they know when they can get, they can download the web, download the handout on demand in the middle of it simulate, chatting asking questions, all different kinds of things.
These are all the nice to haves that you don't get if.
Send people to a private YouTube video, but they're also very advanced and they take some time to set up that curated experience of a chat bot of that interaction.
What are the questions I would wanna ask somebody, at minute five or at minute 10, and how could I really generate excitement around that?
Is that really working or not?
You'd have to work with this for a while and test it.
This isn't really set and forget, this is, you set it up and then you're like, Yeah, that's not really working.
Or this really is, and then.
iterate on it.
And that's one of the reasons why it's advanced.
It's not necessarily for beginners.
Then you can also set up like all of your email notifications.
This is very similar to other webinar software where you're setting up all of the reminder emails.
You can even set up emails for, people who didn't attend or who only watched a certain percentage of it, and what actions would happen.
These.
Really nice tools.
They're very helpful when you're setting up, your webinar series and your webinar sequence.
They can be very complicated funnels but they can also generate a lot of really great results if you know what you're doing and if you spend some time kind of practicing it, I would not suggest just going out and buying, Evergreen Webinar funnel software without having.
A lot of webinars ahead of time.
Remember I was doing webinars, I was doing frequent webinars.
I didn't share this part before, but you know my, Hold on, let me get out of sharing my screen.
Then my dad died.
and all best were off and I of stopped doing everything.
So I told Shelley yesterday that I could tell by looking.
What I was wearing in that video, what my hair looked like, I was like, I know exactly when that was.
I know exactly why I stopped doing it, and it was because I was in the midst of a lot of grief at that time, and that's why now after two years of grief, I'm in a different place and I'm like, Oh yeah, I could probably go back to doing that.
So understand that these things take a lot of time.
Life can happen in the middle of it, and you maybe.
Finish it, and that's okay too.
you always can get back to it.
That's why if I were to do it all over again, I probably would've had email marketing in a private YouTube video, Cause I probably could have had that set up.
I could have done that in a day and kept it going.
And even in the midst of all of the life stuff could have had that going.
ShelleyBecause it's simple, cause it's easy, working with the webinar, like Jen said, there's a lot of experimentation, trying things out, seeing what works and what doesn't and adjusting it to your needs.
So that is great.
It's is great demonstration.
So what are the steps that people should take at this point?
JenSo I think that if you are interested in an Evergreen webinar, the first question is, have you had a webinar?
And so the next steps would be if you haven't had webinars, just start scheduling events.
Schedule 'em in event Bright, it's free.
You can set up a meetup group if you want.
You can do webinars on LinkedIn if you.
There are all these different ways that you can be sharing your information and generating sales.
Get practiced at that like practice, like having webinars get practiced at the whole presentation of it.
If you're not in front of the camera all the time, like Shelley and I are get used to the camera.
Get used to like talking to people and doing that.
That is your first step.
Then if you wanna start thinking about Evergreen marketing, Evergreen webinar.
The first step is really to just in, integrate it into your email marketing.
And if you have Vimeo, if you have, you private YouTube, you can do that.
I have all different kinds of software that I can upload a video and people can watch it later.
There's so many ways of doing that and, just track your results, see how it goes, see if people are watching it, see if you're.
Subscribers by doing that.
If you're putting on webinars and people are showing up, that's a good indication that that what you're sharing is lively and interesting and people love hearing from you.
And so then, going down the road of an Evergreen webinar might be for you and then you just keep tracking it and tweaking it and changing it.
But Shelley's absolutely right, it takes some.
This is not something that you can just, I'm doing this now have it just work.
Right?
You have to be willing to test it out.
ShelleyAnd a lot of people will use a webinar on their website that they direct people to.
If they're on a podcast or a guesting or if they're speaking somewhere or something, they'll just direct everybody to go watch my webinar.
You'll get more information and and then that's their funnel.
That's pretty much their entire funnel is telling people that it exists, getting people to go there and listen to it, and then it takes them on to next steps.
JenIt's just like any marketing it's both an art and a science and you let people into it.
You see how it goes, you iterate on it, you make it better, and you keep moving forward.
That's
Shelleyright.
It's marketing.
Marketing's experimenting, That's right.
So, so yes.
If on
Jenmusic, Oh, are we doing more?
Ooh, I like this If you are interested.
Yes.
If you are interested in this lesson and other lessons like it, I highly recommend you go to course dot agk media.
Dot studio.
Shelley has created a wonderful course called How to Create, Publish, and Distribute Content Consistently.
Use coupon code Agk Saver, that is Agk Saver, all caps and you will get in for free between now and November 18th.
That was said, October now and November 18th, 2022.
That is how you can get into create, publish, and distribute content consistently.
The course.
That's right.
The course.
ShelleyYeah, absolutely.
Now, if you wanna know more about marketing and you wanna assess your own marketing, see where you're at in this whole experimental thing we call marketing make sure that you go to Jen's w the free marketing self-assessment.
Free marketing self-assessment, which will also get you on Jen's email list for wcb Women Conquer Business, and that's a great place to be.
All you gotta do is go to send fox.com/wcb.
That's right.
JenWe're so good at this.
We're so good at this.
It's almost like we've been doing it for about a year together.
It's.
ShelleyIsn't that exciting, It's very
Jenexciting.
Can't believe it.
Celebration.
Yeah, we'll have to talk about that too.
We have so much to do, Shelley.
So much work
Shelleytweaks other week.
JenAll right, so I wanted to share.
I have been searching.
Oh, so long have I been searching for a apper alternative.
I have tried so many on AppSu.
I did not like any of them.
I won't even name them.
They're all returned at this point.
and everybody had been talking about Pley, Pley this, Pley that.
I don't know why.
There were just some things that I found to be a turnoff so I wasn't really interested in it, like the name part of it.
I just, I just wasn't sure.
And I think actually the turnoff was this, it's a suite of products, so there's probably.
Which is what we're gonna talk about.
That's the one that is like a Zapier alternative, but there's also like subscription billing.
Why do you need that?
If you have Stripe, you don't ley email marketing.
Why would you need that?
If you have MailChimp active campaign, you don't at Ley Form Builder.
Why would you need that?
If you have Google forms or type, form or paper form, you don't need that email verification.
You might need that, but there's a lot of cheaper ways of doing it.
So the whole suite was really, I think what had turned me off.
Because if you go down and you look at the whole suite, it's pretty expensive to get like the ultimate suite, it's like $200 a month.
I'm like, Whoa, yeah, no, it's not gonna work for me.
I ignored it for a long time, but it just kept showing up in my feet as an altern.
Zappier.
That's really the thing I think that most people are talking about.
And that product is called Pley Connect.
Pley Connect, and that is the one that I have.
I actually ended up getting this.
I can show you.
And they have a lifetime offer, which is actually fairly attractive if you're like me and paying ongoing services for Zapier, which I am.
The whole reason I was looking for an alternative to Zapier is when I put a course up on App Sumo I built this whole complicated Zapier flow, and Zapier let me build the whole thing, and then I go to turn it on and they're like, Oh, you have to upgrade.
And the upgrade meant that I was paying like $73.
and I was really turned off by that because I was an early adopter of Zappier and I only pay 20 bucks a month So I was and at the time, App Summa was an experiment.
I didn't know if I would make the money, so I was really turned off by the whole thing.
So I ended up using Teachable, which is not my favorite platform, but they do bulk coupons.
It was easy to integrate with app.
Fast forward a year.
Now I'm ready to get off of Teachable cause we're not using it for anything except for this app, Sumo course.
And I don't wanna be charged another thousand dollars for a platform that I'm not using cuz I did all in thinking we were gonna put a whole school up there and we decided against that.
So I started researching Pad Connect and I was able to build the entire flow for App Sumo in here, which is actually a pretty complicated.
Flow if you don't have the right software to go with App Sumo, meaning bulk coupons, you have to be able to generate 5,000 coupon codes to send to App Sumo.
And then you have to be able to process them quickly.
So if people try and scam you and put the wrong code in, you can reject them and then the right code means that they'll get access to the product.
This is something that most course platforms, which is what we're developing, don't have We couldn't use it with Member Vault.
We can't use it with Ghost.
We need to have this complicated flow.
You couldn't do it with podium.
Most platforms you can't do it.
You could do it with Teachable, you can do it with Thinkific.
They're both fine platforms, but for other reasons, we didn't want to go with it.
So I've been using Zach, I've been using Ley.
To do this complicated thing, which is like if there's a new row in this spreadsheet, do this Check for this, check for that.
Also, that I can ultimately get somebody into Member Vault if they do the podcast planning checklist.
So Pley Connect did that and it worked really well.
I have no complaints about that.
So then I was like, Okay, I can buy this.
Pley is very similar to Zapier.
It's how you take two apps that don't talk to each other and make it so they talk to each other.
It is a little more technical in some ways than Zapier.
Some of it can be very simple, but if you wanna do some kind of tricky things, You can do it with Ley, but you do have to have a little bit more technical knowledge.
And at times it's more technical knowledge than I have so I get a little nervous.
That's because, yeah, so it's not necessarily always for the novice person, but.
It will do some things and because they have a lifetime payment, you could probably find somebody to help you with some of these things to build out some automations for you, and then ultimately save money cuz you're not having to pay.
Every week or every week, every month for Zappier or annually.
So that's a really good deal.
So the steps, if you wanna look at whether or not you want probably connect, you wanna make sure that all the apps that you use are available on there and that you're able to make those connections.
The good thing about it when I was testing it out and checking it out, was that I was able to build my entire.
Redemption flow and test it and make sure that it works, which was not something I was even able to do in Zapier.
I could test it, make sure it worked, and then decide to buy.
So they gave me the opportunity to really like, check out the product, do things, make sure that I could figure it out, which with the other automation flow things that I was trying to do from App Sumo, I couldn't even figure 'em out.
you know, I was trying these other tools and I'm like, I don't know what you're even talking about.
So if you use Zapp, Leys very similar, and you can do some really advanced things with it if you would like.
All that said, you can go, let's see what the pricing is.
You can go all in on their lifetime for Ley Connect if you're looking for an alternative.
And it goes from you can do, they have a monthly, oh they have a monthly that starts at $0 and then goes up to, what was that, like $50?
Mm-hmm.
And then you can do Lifetime, It starts at $250.
And I think the top is like $700.
Which if you're like a massive appier user is actually quite a steal, cause their Zapier can be very expensive.
So that is Pley.
If you've heard about Pley out on the web like I have you might wanna give it a shot.
Take a look.
There you
Shelleygo.
All right, let's do some inspirational moments here.
This is a little poem by Aaron Hanson.
And for those of you who are.
This was an advanced show today.
We get in, we got into some technology and some some bigger, flows and some bigger funnels, some tech that maybe was a little bit scary for you and you're like, I can't do all that, that, that's not for me.
So this poem is for you.
If that's how you are feeling, there is freedom waiting for you on the breezes of the sky and you.
What if I fall, Oh, but my darling, what if you fly?
Indeed.
JenOh, that's
Shelleybeautiful.
Yeah.
Give things a try.
You may fly
Jenright?
Thank you.
I needed that because at the end I was like, Wow, this has been very technical.
I felt it too.
Yeah it's a more
Shelleyadvanced marketing techniques, but you can get there if you're, if you've started with the simple and you conquer those things.
as one does as we do.
you're ready for the next step.
Don't get too comfortable with, Oh, I got this down.
This is easy now, and I'll just stay here.
Thank you.
No, what's the next step?
What else can we do?
JenKeep trying.
Keep scratching, keep rolling.
Thank you.
All
Shelleyright.
So thank you all for being here with us, for checking out our show.
We appreciate you and not every one of these shows is this technical, so make sure you tune in again next week.
