Speaker 7

Yeah, typical customer time is just a single you know, just a single landlord that has an individual rental property for the most part.

Speaker 5

A single family odo.

Speaker 7

But we do have some clients that have several homes that are you know, constitutional investors now that really really big investors necessarily.

Speaker 4

I do want to talk a little bit about real estate today and specifically rentals, because man, I've been getting a lot of I get a lot of email about it and texts about rent and rent affordability and all of that.

Speaker 5

Of my studio with a deputy d to my right.

That would be your screen left.

Speaker 4

And by the way, what is happening with the studio cam.

Speaker 5

I'm just curious, no idea.

It looks like it's up, it looks like it's running.

It was, and then it went out.

Speaker 4

What it did is it went still and then it stopped running and it's black.

Speaker 5

So anyway, welcome to the show.

Speaker 4

Let's just keep going, Jen, you have a problem, Go ahead, Jen, let's let's talk.

What's happening Jen?

Speaker 8

Okay, So I was in a very bad domestic violence relationship.

I found this program which I thought was going to help me with ALC you know, drinking and fight.

Speaker 5

So you you were the victim.

You were the victim of domestic violence.

Speaker 8

Yes, I was a very bad domestic vine.

Speaker 4

And then and then you found a program to get out of your house and get safety.

Speaker 5

Yes, okay, And what's going on with that program?

Speaker 9

Okay?

Speaker 8

Well?

They all I needed was Medicaid to move in.

I moved in.

They started giving me donations like weekly.

I thought, you know, it was just strange.

Speaker 4

You know, so it's a it's a resident Let me help me understand, Jen, because I know nothing about this.

Speaker 5

So is this a residential program?

Speaker 8

Yeah, it's some type of residential program.

I thought it was for miss health.

Speaker 4

And how did you find out about it?

I mean you didn't just end up there?

I mean how did you find out about it?

Speaker 8

I found out from my friend Sean.

And what's what's.

Speaker 5

The name of what's the name of this program?

Jen?

Speaker 8

It's called well, it's been changed several times, but right now it's called the Better Living Program.

Speaker 5

The Better And what tell me?

You're telling me that Medicaid pays for this supposedly.

Speaker 8

Yeah, and they like, we have nurses that come day and night, twice a day, and we have to be there because I got kicked out of this program, I you know, and now I'm homeless again.

Speaker 4

Because oh wait a minute, So you're calling because you're calling because you were kicked out of the program.

Speaker 8

No, because I knew all of this stuff was going on.

Speaker 10

I have no idea what you're saying.

Literally, no idea.

Speaker 1

No.

Speaker 4

No, That's why I'm trying to Jen.

I'm trying to piece together your story.

Now, here's what I have so far.

You were a victim or are a victim of domestic violence, and you went to a residential program to help you, called the Better Living Program, and now you're out on the street because they evicted you.

Speaker 5

Is that right?

Speaker 11

Yeah?

Speaker 8

They because I went.

I went to my families for Thanksgiving and I came back and all my stuff was stolen and they again, why were you, Jen?

Speaker 5

Jen?

Speaker 4

I don't know anything about this program, the Better Living Program, but d maybe we can look that up.

The Better Living Program, And it is for Is it only for victims of domestic violence?

Speaker 5

Jen?

Is that what it's about.

Speaker 8

It's no, it's for anybody.

They have several houses, and it's like they get the homeless people that smoke spentanyl and that's all they do all day.

And I don't want to be around it, and I can't.

I seem to tell them about it, and they don't do nothing about it.

Speaker 4

Jen, But you're not.

You're not there anymore, right do you think?

Let me let me just ask you.

We got to really get to the bottom of this.

Why were you kicked out?

Speaker 8

They said?

Because I wasn't there for several days Thanksgiving.

Speaker 4

Days, Okay, because you went to see your family.

Speaker 8

Yeah, and so I stayed gone too long.

But everybody else can do whatever they want, stay gone as long as they want, basically not live there.

But I do it.

Speaker 10

And I'm why are they picking on you?

Speaker 8

I don't I don't know, I don't know.

Speaker 5

You know, I had Well, let me ask you something.

Speaker 4

Are you not allowed to come and go as you please?

In this program?

Speaker 12

Oh?

Speaker 5

D D What did you find out about it?

Tom?

Speaker 13

What I found is the Better Living Program is administered by more than one organization, and I have a list of five.

Speaker 14

Or six, maybe seven organizations.

Speaker 4

So it would be nice to these organizations that they feed this Better Living program well.

Speaker 13

I think there are beneficiaries of this Better Living Program funding and then they provide services to people.

Speaker 4

Okay, so Better Living Program makes referrals to them.

Speaker 14

And presumably pay the bills too.

Speaker 5

Yeah.

So it's and is it for people who are down on their luck?

What is it?

Speaker 13

Well, it's you know, it's hard to say, but it's There are several things that some of them are set up for mental health and substance use treatments.

Speaker 14

Some of them are what's.

Speaker 13

Called general well being, which kind of sounds like if you don't have another place to live, you get a free place.

There's another one for housing and senior support.

Speaker 4

So, Jen, do you know why you were accepted to begin with in the Better Living program?

Speaker 5

And who runs this program?

Speaker 1

Like?

Speaker 14

Where is it?

Where where do you live?

Where do you live?

Speaker 5

Oh?

Speaker 8

Okay, Well I was accepted because I have mental health issues because of my I have a lot of trauma from my you know, my domestic violence okay, and you know my kids dead.

Speaker 4

So Jen, Jen, did they say the reason you were kicked out of the program is because you missed too many days?

Speaker 8

Yeah?

Speaker 4

But what do they mean by that?

What do they mean by miss too many days?

Are there, classes, are there, sessions?

Are there clinics?

Speaker 8

I mean, I'm not getting no help.

It's so seen a psychiatrist that it seems to prescribe me more and more Marmaro Hills.

And now you know, I thought I had a safe place to stay and I come back home.

That's missing my shoes, my underwear, everything out of my room.

Speaker 11

That meant anything?

Speaker 5

Which one?

Speaker 1

Do you know?

Speaker 5

Which?

Which location?

Speaker 4

Well, I want to get to the bottom of this gen Which location of the Better Living program?

Speaker 5

Where you at?

Which location?

Speaker 8

Okay?

The location is on.

Speaker 11

It's two to.

Speaker 1

What is my interest?

Speaker 5

Speaker 8

It's not at it's Alamo A sorry, so.

Speaker 4

That's where that's where the Better That's where the program was located at two two seven one seven Alamo.

Speaker 8

Hi Tom Martine, you're troubleshooter three all three seven one three talk seven one three two five five Okay, so listen, Jen, Really, I'm not sure we can solve your problem, but we're going to look into it.

Speaker 5

You you say that you were at a.

Speaker 4

Residential program on Alamo Better Living program?

Did you see which one she was talking about?

Speaker 14

D Tom?

Speaker 13

The address that she gave us is to a single family residential home, so there's no there's no business organization associated with it on the internet.

Speaker 5

Okay, maybe she gave it the place is there?

Is there a better Living program on Alamo anywhere?

Speaker 1

Do you know?

Speaker 5

No?

Speaker 13

I did a keyword search for that address and better Living program and got no hits, but a lot of information about that residential house, so it sounds like they may be rent or maybe they own this house they use as a group called.

Speaker 4

Anyway, so she said she left and went to see family over the holidays and was kicked out.

So here's the deal.

What are you calling about now, Jen that you were kicked out?

Because I doubt that we're going to be able to get you back into that program.

Speaker 5

What are you go ahead?

Speaker 8

I don't want to go back to that program because there's so much fentonyl use I've said something.

I don't know what to do.

Speaker 5

So what are you calling about?

What are you calling about today.

Speaker 8

To let people know about this program?

This programs there's a man with that has one leg and he has no amenity.

He can't even get around.

They don't bathe him, they don't give him showers.

You know, I'm trying to think of what there's.

Speaker 4

Okay, Jen, so you didn't like the program basically, and you're saying they're missed.

You're you're basically saying they're mistreating people and there's drug use going on and all of that.

Right, So you want us to look you want us to look into this program.

I mean, we're finding it difficult to get information about this program online.

It's it sounds hazy.

We don't even know what it is really, I mean, we really don't even know what it is.

Who referred you to this program?

Speaker 8

His name is Sean.

Speaker 5

I don't I don't need to know his name.

Speaker 4

I meant like, was was it an organization that said, hey, Jen, you need the.

Speaker 5

Help of these people?

Speaker 4

I mean like, like, how did you go from domestic violence to this?

Speaker 5

Were you?

Speaker 4

Did you leave your home where you were being abused.

Speaker 5

And someone said, hey, I can get you some help.

Speaker 8

Yes, yes, that's exactly what happened.

Speaker 9

Okay?

Speaker 4

And then and then and then they they and they referred you to the Better Living Program?

Did the Better Living Program do an application with you?

Speaker 5

How did it work?

I mean, did you go see someone I've.

Speaker 8

Seen a lady named Desda.

Okay, but give it down to somebody named really and they're all related.

You go see their doctor and then you get your first money.

Speaker 9

Money.

Speaker 5

What do you mean money?

Speaker 8

They give you money.

They used to give us two hundred dollars a week, and they said that it came from the church.

Speaker 4

And the two hundred dollars a week was to be used for what for food and stuff?

Speaker 8

Food, cigarettes, anything you wanted.

Speaker 4

Okay, Now they don't say, Now, now, Jen, did you get to sleep at this program?

Then they gave you two hundred dollars in spending money.

But what about like sleeping and showering and all of that?

Was that done at the program?

Speaker 14

You have meal service?

Was their meal service?

Speaker 8

Yes, we had your own house that everybody had their room even okay, so.

Speaker 4

You got a house with meals and room or smokes and booze and whatever they wanted.

Speaker 5

And two hundred dollars.

Speaker 4

And that two hundred dollars you could spend anything you wanted.

You could buy cigarettes and liquor and all that.

Speaker 13

Yes, probably not liquor, because I assume there's some kind of drug and alcohol treatments.

Speaker 10

I don't that temetri.

Speaker 5

What did they do?

Speaker 10

We're talking about Denver, Colorado.

Speaker 4

Right, yeah, so let me get this straight.

So, Jen, this Better Living program allowed you to live there.

They provided meals, and they gave you two hundred dollars a week that you could spend on anything.

And you said that there were people there buying drugs and alcohol.

Speaker 8

That's all they did buy.

And you know, they don't provide meals for you.

You have to provide your own meals, the only thing, you know, even if you're disabled and you can't get up and down the stairs and feedures though they don't care.

Because there was a guy named Anthony that was there and I took care of him most of the time because he couldn't get around.

Okay, they don't clean them and even like this guy, thats the one like today.

Speaker 5

Okay, a ton.

Speaker 8

Of money off of our medicaid is what they're doing.

Speaker 5

So wait, so they collected your medicaid.

Speaker 15

Yes, now it's starting to make sense.

Yes, so our tax dollars.

Let's continue continue keep going.

Speaker 5

You're you're.

Speaker 4

How did you did you sign over your medicaid to them?

Speaker 5

No?

I didn't, Well, how did they get your medicaid?

Speaker 8

They asked for your Medicaid number, your birthdate, and and do.

Speaker 4

You know, Jen, do you know if they're still billing medicaid for you?

Speaker 8

Yes?

Speaker 5

They are and you're not even there anymore.

Speaker 8

I'm not there anymore, and they would make sure that.

Speaker 4

How do you know they're billing How do you know?

Listen, this is serious.

Speaker 5

How do you know they're still billing Medicare or medicaid for you?

How do you know that?

Speaker 8

I don't know exactly because they won't let us check our own now, so I don't know exactly.

Speaker 15

This whole thing sounds so sketchy.

It's crazy, Tom.

I mean, it sounds like they're robbing these homeless people.

That's what it sounds like they're robbing.

Speaker 8

What they're doing is I think they're you know, everybody that smokes that fentanyl that do need them the most, and they won't say anything, But I want treatment.

I don't do ventanyl, but I drink, you know, so were.

Speaker 5

There people Here's what I want to know.

Speaker 4

Were there people living at the house with you that were smoking fentanyl in the house?

Speaker 8

Every single house a bit.

You guaranteed everybody does it except for.

Speaker 5

No, I mean do they do it?

Do they do it in the house?

Speaker 8

Yes, they do every day, all day.

And I've said something because I don't like, you know, I don't want to be around it.

I don't like it at all.

And there's even a social worker that works for their stakes that lived in this house and they're trying now the house.

Speaker 4

You're talking about how many people?

How many people lived in this house?

Speaker 8

Okay, so there is me that they stuck in the basement that is unfinished and has no insulation.

So I'm freething down there.

Speaker 4

Okay, but just tell me how many man, God, you tell me stories.

Speaker 5

I need to know, like sax and how many people.

Speaker 4

No, that's okay, Jen, How I mean you may have on you may have uncorked something truly bad.

I mean you may have opened the can of worms here, I mean the proverbial can of arms.

This is this sounds and by the way, this shouldn't surprise us.

Speaker 10

City around.

That's what it sounds like.

Speaker 5

I know.

Speaker 4

It's it's just that you heard what happened in the state of Minnesota and how billion bucks a billion bucks the Somalians used.

Speaker 5

Yeah, so I.

Speaker 8

Mean they have about seven different houses.

I don't know how many people reside in those houses.

Speaker 15

You know, I don't want to blow I don't want to blow the roof off this, but we got to get someone in there.

We got to we're out how to get someone into this system.

Speaker 5

No, what we need to do is.

Speaker 15

Start looking into it.

We really didn't even care.

Let's let's go that next step.

Do they even care?

They're probably funding this to some point.

Speaker 4

No, no, no, Mayor Johnston doesn't care.

In fact, he tells people, come to Denver and we'll get you a home and we'll get.

Speaker 5

You whatever you need.

Speaker 4

This part of guy's a complete he's a complete idiot.

Let's find out we really seriously, Jen, you did a you know this is really important this phone call.

Speaker 15

Can you mean already get us some pictures without getting caught?

Speaker 10

Well, she was not there anymore stuff.

Speaker 4

They kicked her out, and they probably kicked her out because she was making noise about this.

She's trying to she's trying to get off of drugs and alcohol, she's trying to live straight, and they kick her ass out of there because they don't want somebody who's going to complain about the drugs.

So hold on, we got more coming up.

I'm Tom Martino three three seven one three talk.

By the way, the guaranteed loess price for furnace replacement.

Speaker 5

Yes, you heard me right, you need a furnace.

Speaker 4

The guaranteed loess price renew Home Innovations dot com.

They guarantee it.

Call them three oh three nine zero four two thousand.

Go with a sure thing Denver's Best roofer Excel Roofing dot com.

You don't pay a cent until you're content.

Time for an insurance check up free, no obligation.

In comparison, call Compass Insurance paying too much your coverage at dozens of insurance companies find out now three all three seven seven to one help.

You'll think you're his only customer when you choose Frank durand the real estate Man dot com to list your home with Remax Alliance three all three nine two zero sixteen twenty two.

Hi Tom Martine here, Well, I found some information online here and we're gonna have Deputy D check it out.

But here here's the rundown.

Here's basically, we get a caller who says that she was in this program and they were taking her Medicaid and it was called the Better Living program.

And she said she lived in one of the houses and everyone there smoked fentanyl right out in the open, or they drank and they were actually given spending money every week to spend anyway.

They wanted two hundred dollars a week.

So are you telling me, Jen, that people in this better Living program would get their two hundred dollars, go out and buy fentanyl and come back to the house and smoke it right out in the open, yes.

Speaker 8

Or they'll go in their rooms or this new house with the garage.

But then this guy shrink.

He's like nobody.

He's a spittinal user.

Speaker 9

The lady that's.

Speaker 8

Like in charge of he's not the owner of the house.

But that comes in.

Now we get gift cards and it's only half now because they got in trouble.

Speaker 5

I get again, what do you mean it's only half?

What's only half?

Speaker 8

So now they don't give us hash anymore.

It's been on for a couple of weeks.

Speaker 5

How they how'd they get in trouble?

Speaker 8

I don't know.

That's what she said, that they have to cut it in half because the state law only allows us to have twenty five dollars every other day.

Speaker 10

Does everybody there turn over their.

Speaker 5

Every other day.

Speaker 8

Yes, everybody turns over their medicaid for them them.

Speaker 4

And by the way, the Better Living program, from what I can find here, is associated with First Priority Institute Better Living, a facility providing comprehensive outpack and residential treatment for mental health challenges and substance abuse disorders.

But if they're treating substance abuse.

And by the way, guys, you can bet your life that TV reporters right now are copying down all this information and they're going to have an exclusive because that's the way it works on this show.

Speaker 5

We always break stories first.

Speaker 4

But anyway, this place is being listed at fifty eighth Avenue East, fifty eighth Avenue and they have a phone number here a deputy d Did you look at the link I gave you?

Speaker 5

What do you think?

Yeah?

Speaker 13

In the meantime, Jim, you know, I thought you were called.

We'll definitely look into it and thank you for bringing it to our attention.

But in the meantime, what are you doing to improve your own lot in life?

What are you doing about your own treatments.

Speaker 14

Your job, you're housing your hold on your family situation?

Are you working on that too?

Speaker 5

Yeah?

Because we do want to help you.

Speaker 8

Well I don't.

Unfortunately I don't have a mom anymore.

She passed away, and I don't.

My baby's dead was murdered a while back, my god, mental health challenges myself.

Speaker 4

Wait so your baby, hold on, your baby's father was murdered.

Speaker 8

Yeah, in two.

Speaker 11

And so I had you know I.

Speaker 4

And where where was he murdered?

And was he in Denver?

When he was murdered on twenty ninth?

Speaker 16

And we.

Speaker 4

Okay, so listen, So then you got then you hooked up with this one.

I it was a guy that would did domestic violence and abused you.

Speaker 8

No, this is this was just recently.

This is years after I hadn't no Jillie Rich's murder trial and all of that, trying to get my kids in a safe place.

Speaker 5

And how many kids do you have?

For God's sakes, how many kids do you have?

Speaker 8

Are you four kids?

Speaker 5

And how old are they?

Speaker 8

My first one is twenty eight, my second one is twenty five, twenty one, and I have a nine year old.

Speaker 5

Well where's the where's the nine year old?

Speaker 8

He's with my daughter?

Because I was struggling.

Speaker 5

You take good?

Speaker 8

He good?

Speaker 5

Okay?

I had jen Jen Jen I that is very smart that he is with your daughter and they're taking care of their brother.

Speaker 4

So listen, here's the bottom line.

You may have You may have opened, like I said at Can of Worms.

You you told us about this program, and we're going to look into it.

But have you ever heard of this location that I gave out?

I just saw if you heard of the Better Living program?

Okay, and it was on East fifty eighth Avenue.

I'm going to give Dmitry this phone number to call them and see what the heck's going on.

Mark, it doesn't surprise you at all you say that our tax dollars are going to help people.

Speaker 5

Buy fentanyl.

Speaker 8

I mean, you know they allow this person some just some random person packed up my room and you know I had jewelry and there are specials in there, you know, PaperWorks.

Speaker 4

But do you think you are kicked out because you were making noise like blowing the whistle?

Speaker 17

Yeah?

Speaker 8

Kind of because before we had it and she said, I'm too smart, real good, and I am very smart.

Speaker 5

You know I'm right.

Speaker 4

I'll tell you what d do you mind?

I'm going to give jen hold On Kashena is going to get some information from you.

We're gonna have Deputy d call you, and I want him to call this facility.

Speaker 5

Did you hit my email yet?

Speaker 14

It hasn't come in yet, but keep in mind is really slow.

Speaker 5

Goodness.

Speaker 14

Okay, but Tom and I'll oh, no, I just got it.

Speaker 5

You take it in.

Speaker 13

Hey, look, oh gladly, seriously, sincerely call them.

But the part of this call that bothers me that the most is we haven't heard a single word about what Jen is going to do.

Speaker 5

That's what we're going to do.

Speaker 4

We're gonna help her find a good facility, a real one.

Speaker 5

Hold on Jen.

Okay, No, you're right, d that that you're right to should be our primary You're absolutely right, But we also have to try to shut down this program.

And by the way, as I said TV reporters, I know you won't give us any credit for breaking the story when somebody called my show, but I don't care.

Go out and.

Speaker 4

Bust these people, Okay, the Better Living program where people are sitting around, uh, take their medicaid and smoking fentanyl.

Speaker 5

Right out in the open.

Speaker 4

If Jen is telling the truth, that is now Hold on, Jay, you have a comment on the electrical code.

Veronica, you need legal advice.

Hi Tom Martino here three three seven on three talks seven one three eight two five five J What is your comment on the electrical code you were calling about?

And by the way, behind the scenes we are looking into the Better Living program.

I wonder if they're all right now hustling to throw away all the drugs and hide them or was it all just a fantasy.

Uh okay, go ahead, Jay, What is your comment?

And I take it as from the other day you were calling, Uh what what is the context of this call?

Speaker 18

J h real quickly par It's that I just want to know.

Do you know how to get a hold of nine Wants to Know?

I heard something about a better living program.

I want to tip them off to.

Speaker 5

Yeah, yeah, right.

I think they listen.

Speaker 4

So and by the way, I don't even think it's called It's not called nine Wants to Know anymore.

They did Steve.

I believe Steve say you're Steve on your side or something.

But I hope, I really hope some of these young TV reporters, seriously, I hope they take leads from this show because it would do do good.

I want who cares right as long as it's exposed.

Speaker 5

So Jay, go ahead, off.

Speaker 18

Your coattails, thank you.

In conversation regarding bathroom venting yesterday, because I'm doing some some bathroom Yeah Fan replacements, and I was told, not joking you at all that now the new code is the bathroom fan can never shut off.

Ever it runs twenty four to seven.

Speaker 5

Wait wait, wait, wait, they said that's code.

Speaker 18

That's new code.

Brand new.

Speaker 5

Oh come on, yeah, listen to this, well, listen to this.

Speaker 4

Means is this commercial residential?

Speaker 18

This is residential?

Speaker 5

Is this Colorado wire?

Speaker 18

Colorado, California?

A couple other places are adopting this.

Speaker 5

And I don't believe it.

Speaker 18

It runs at real slow speed.

It's wired, That's what I'm wondering.

Is this really going to stick?

So it always runs at a very slow speed.

And then when you walk in, you have to have either a motion sensor or a humidity spenser that connects it to a high speed when it reaches once it sees somebody in the room.

Speaker 5

Oh, come on, I know that.

Are you sure?

Are you?

You're not?

Just Josh?

And as you're sure of this, oh I'm not.

Speaker 18

Yes, I guarantee you.

I was told this, I'm very serious by a very real licensed electrician.

Speaker 5

And is it a new code?

Speaker 1

Is it?

Speaker 5

When?

When does it become effective?

Speaker 18

Supposedly January first next year?

You have to wire everything.

Speaker 4

Sanuary of next year, meaning this this like in a in a few weeks here.

Speaker 18

Yeah, that's what he told me.

Exai.

But you cannot put a regular switch on on and off.

Speaker 7

Hey Tom, this is Sean with Denver Real Estate mogos.

We're pretty up to date on all the new laws.

I've never heard anything like that.

Speaker 15

Yeah, so I've never heard anything like it.

And I'm looking left and right.

I can't find one damn thing about it.

Speaker 5

Yeah, that's what I'm looking to Mark.

Speaker 18

I looked up some wiring diagrams from New Town and some of their fans show it being hot wired.

Speaker 4

And then, well, they they might be, but that doesn't mean it's code that they have to be.

Speaker 18

Yeah, but well, they would never want you to hotwire.

Speaker 10

It's almost it's almost the opposite you.

Speaker 5

You.

Speaker 15

You would think a lot of the people that want to save electricity and stuff, they wouldn't want the fan on.

Speaker 5

All the time.

Speaker 18

Said, I'm not joking some of that.

You can look up for something.

Speaker 5

That's not true.

Speaker 10

We are looking at it.

Speaker 5

We are looking it up.

Speaker 4

You look at Jaye.

Do you believe everything you hear?

Didn't you go and try to look it up?

Speaker 18

Oh no, I definitely ip you guys a lot, but things that were you guys.

Speaker 5

Well, guess what.

I looked it up and it says that hold on, I said.

Speaker 4

The International Residential Code IRC, used for the most building codes in the US, requires mechanical exhaust fan ventilations.

In new homes, they require the fan the minimum exhaust airflow must be a certain amount.

Some codes allow for lowest continuous exhaust rate if the fan runs permanently.

Speaker 5

It doesn't say it has to, but if.

Speaker 4

It runs permanently, there is a minimum CFM they require in multifamily or tightly built homes, whatever the hell that means.

With tighter envelopes, there is an increasing emphasis on indoor air quality amending, and some are wiring fans to run all the time.

Speaker 5

But I see nothing that would require it.

Speaker 4

It says here In fact, continuous operation is a recommendation and not part of the standard national codes like the IRC or the NEEC.

Speaker 5

So you heard you got bum information.

Speaker 18

Bro in municipalities like Denver and everything in California, most of Colorado.

Speaker 4

Well you're you're wrong.

What can I tell you, Jay, You're wrong.

It's not requiring that.

I mean, that's what I'm finding.

So find me the code.

How about that.

You find me the code, and I'll believe you.

We got I really do.

I really mean that, by the way, I find me the code, and I want to publicize it if that's true.

But everything I'm seeing here.

It's not true.

We also have the iHeartRadio app.

We have our over the air audience, and then we have our podcast audience as well.

Speaker 5

I should say, Mark, let's get on topic.

Speaker 4

And then we're going to go to Randy.

He's on the phone and anyone else who calls.

But what topic are we going to talk about?

Because I brought up a lot of information on rentals.

Speaker 5

Who do we have.

Speaker 10

We've got all kinds of great people.

Speaker 15

Brad O'Brien, attorney at law, and you know Bradson all the time.

Speaker 10

We have Sean Gillian.

Am I saying that right, Sean.

Speaker 7

Gilliland, but it, oh my gosh, I've been called Gillian.

I've been called I've been called everything.

Speaker 5

To kill a land it's Gilli right man.

Speaker 15

And then Tasha Dunbar that they both work for Denver real estate moguls.

They've been talking about how many people you guys have been saying off air, how many people are pulling out of this market with Reynolds purely because of all the changes?

Speaker 19

Right, Yeah, we have a lot of owners that have called us and want to sell properties because they don't want to deal with all the new laws.

Speaker 10

They just want to get out and Brad, you deal with You.

Speaker 4

Give me an idea, Tasha, Tasha, give me an idea of one of the laws that would comes up a lot that people don't.

Speaker 5

Want to deal with.

Speaker 19

So Denver landlord licensing is one they just fiil.

The government push on that and.

Speaker 5

Then and what is that all about?

What is it?

What do they require?

Speaker 19

So they have to do an inspection and then if whatever doesn't pass, they have to fix that, and then they have to renew it every couple of years, and if they don't, there's haf de fines associated with that.

It's not necessarily a bad thing to have properties that are in good condition.

I think it's more the feel that the government control.

And then the next one would be the non renewal law that they just put in place.

Speaker 5

Where talk about that.

What is that about?

Speaker 19

Yeah, So if a tenant isn't a property and you know they pay their rent their quote unquote a good tenant, you have to renew to them.

And the only way to not renew to them would be under a certain you know, there's a certain stipulation you're selling the property of family members moving back into the property if they've been late on payments.

But the consistency with that is you have to serve a demand three times and if they fulfill the demand, then that's not even a qualifying factor.

So if I mean basically you're forced into renewing, and we have a lot of owners that don't see eye to eye with certain tenants.

We had one that put in over twenty thousand dollars of damage and.

Speaker 4

Work for way way Wait, wait, is that wouldn't be a reason to get rid of a tenant if they damage the property, you still have to renew them.

Speaker 19

Well, you have to send certain forms to them in order to do that.

So yes, there's just a lot of hoops to jump in order to do so.

Now you can't just say I don't want to renew to you and we'removing on.

Speaker 4

Okay, Brad O'Brien, are you getting a lot of increase from landlords or would be landlords.

Speaker 20

Well, the recent changes in law have made it really tough for landlords to get rid of tenants and whenever they're in court more often, and if they get in court, it's more expensive, so it's just tougher to be a mom and pop landlord.

Speaker 5

Now yeah, and also.

Speaker 7

It's you know, it just costs everybody.

You know, it's going to raise the cost of everything.

Speaker 5

Well, of course, of course it is.

Speaker 4

I mean, whenever the government gets involved, it's going to raise the cost.

Speaker 5

Now, Tasha, I heard you talking.

Speaker 4

About something else off air that I think was a really something about fees or costs and disclosures, and I think I was thinking we should be talking about this on the air.

Speaker 5

Do you recall the discussion I'm talking about?

Speaker 21

No, I don't.

Speaker 4

Okay, Well, it was like maybe less than an hour ago.

I heard you talking off the air about having to advertise certain fees or there were ways that.

Speaker 21

Yeah, sorry about that.

Speaker 19

Yeah, So the new laws require you to have the fees very bold letter in your lease, so there's no weird fees associated with like hidden fees, which we've never done as a company, but there have been other property managers that have like admin fees and everything like that.

Speaker 5

So now, yeah, Or you see.

Speaker 4

A big sign outside of a big building saying, you know, two bedroom condos twelve ninety five, and then when you get in there you find out there's a whole bunch of other fees on top of that, making it more like sixteen or eighteen hundred bucks.

Speaker 19

Correct, yep, So they've changed that, which again I don't think necessarily that some of these things are bad, but again yes, we're it's just creating a lot more work.

And then there's they did away with if you can't charge utility fees, so that this is a big one, is that if you have like we have an eight plex, so they're not on separate meters for water, they're not on separate meters for the boiler system.

So what thing have always done is separate per unit.

There's eight units in there, so we divide the whatever that bill is by a add it to the tenants leap port to pay with rent.

You can no longer do that anymore.

So no, no, So if it is not a separate meter, then you cannot charge the tune a fee for utilities any longer.

Speaker 21

And the problem is, well, then.

Speaker 4

How does a landlord collect for them then so or do they have to build it into the rent.

Speaker 21

They have to build it into the rent.

Speaker 19

The problem is though that they the laws take effect in the middle of the year, so we renew ninety percent of our leases in June, and now this takes a fit effect January one.

So we have owners that if the tunant aren't willing to sign a lease saying hey we're transitioning over to where it's a one rent payment, they're going to be out thousands of dollars for six months, and how we can then integrate that into their new lease.

Speaker 7

These are all things that the government doesn't think about time when they pass these laws, or they don't care.

Speaker 4

Okay, so Brad O'Brien, you know what she's talking about.

Right, So in other words, they can't divide up the utility bill.

You cannot charge utilities unless it's a separate meter.

That is an absolute law right now, or it's going it's going to be January first.

Speaker 20

Yeah, this has this has to do with House Bill ten ninety that we talked about when I was in here about two months ago.

Yeah, where service providers now starting January first, have to in bold on the first page of their you know, advertisements or contracts, state here's what it's going to cost to you consumer in one number for this transaction.

So the for leases, I guess it's an annual number.

Speaker 5

And so you can't have.

Speaker 20

Utilities costs which change on a monthly basis.

You can't reduce that to one number for a year.

So the way to resolve that would be landlord just have to build that into the base leaves or have the tenants pay the utail to dress.

Speaker 4

How would you even know?

How do you even know how to build it in?

That's what I want to know.

I mean, guys, you manage properties.

I mean, you're going to have to estimate high so you don't get burned.

If I'm a landlord and i have eight tenants and I'm not allowed to charge individually, I'm not allowed to divide it up.

I have to kind of estimate what I'm going to be paying in utilities, am I?

And just charge more rent.

That's the bottom line.

Speaker 21

Right, Yeah, that's exactly it.

Speaker 19

And then the problem is is that, yeah, there is no way, I mean, you can get an estimate, but there's also no incentive to the tenant to not leave their light on all day long.

Where before it was like we could send them and say, hey, the utility bill was this, you know, just keep an eye, or they got a bill that was like oh man, it went from fifty dollars to one hundred and fifty.

Speaker 21

I need to try right off the lights.

Speaker 19

But now, I mean there's no incentive for them to have any sponsibility.

Let's turn the acon and open up the window, you know.

Speaker 1

And that water.

Speaker 5

I bet water is a big part, a big thing.

Speaker 20

It can run up the bill on correct, Yeah, more the electricity.

Speaker 5

So wait a minute.

Speaker 4

So so landlords to get around this would have to put in separate meters, is that right?

Speaker 21

Correct?

Speaker 19

So unless each unit has their own meter, which again I mean you're talking thousands and thousands of dollars to do that for especially some of these older places.

I mean, we have one that we're looking to take over that as a forty units in it, and the owner is like, I don't even know what to do with this.

Speaker 21

I am losing.

Speaker 19

And if the tenant won't voluntarily sign this addendum and their lease doesn't renew for another six months, eight months or whatever, you're out that money.

Speaker 4

So so then once they renew, their rent is obviously going to go up because utilities will be included.

Speaker 5

Correct.

Once a tenant.

Speaker 4

Hears utilities included, they're going to run the hot water all day, or they're going to run the heat.

They're going to grow soap, or they're going to turn on the air conditioning and open the door they want, they don't care.

Are in fact, some landlords used to do it by square footage.

Speaker 19

Yeah, yeah, we have all different formulas.

I mean we managed I think this is affected at least thirty of the properties that we manage, and so we had different formulas.

Speaker 21

Yeah, some were on square footage.

Speaker 19

If they were all the exact same square footage, all with like one occupant or something like that, it was by you know, just that.

So there's definitely different formulas, but all have been you know, fairly divided.

Speaker 4

And for those listening, Brad, what's the name of this house bill?

Speaker 5

They want to look it up.

Speaker 10

It was House Bill twenty five, ten ninety.

Speaker 4

And it's more than just affecting landlords, right, Brad, it's affecting any service provider or Yeah.

It's this transparent pricing basically what editions.

Speaker 14

Apparently it applies to restaurants.

Speaker 5

I don't know how, but if so, they're.

Speaker 4

Not allowed to advertise unless the advertised price includes everything.

Speaker 10

Right, and except for sales tax.

Speaker 20

Yeah, and you can put some caveats, like you know, I guess suppose if you're a plumber, and you could say this is what I'm estimating for this job that you called me on.

If I find something different that's outside this scope, that'll be a separate charge.

Speaker 4

So you can put in some disclaimers.

But a landlord is screwed the landlords.

It sounds like guys landlords are really getting screwed by this bill.

By the way, Randy wants to give us a follow up and when we come back, I'll talk about that he hired high Planes Contracting to build a deck.

There were problems and he wanted to get this fixed, and we'll see what happened with that.

Hey, I'm Tom Martino with Mark Major.

We're here solving problems, answering questions, taking complaints, and man, I'm telling you people don't don't understand this law and what it's.

Speaker 5

Going to mean.

We'll talk about that coming up.

Speaker 4

Randy, you called yesterday High Planes Construction or High Planes Contracting or whatever to build a deck and there were a few problems.

Speaker 5

There were a few.

Speaker 4

Heads and heads of screws, mushrooming, and it really wasn't that big a deal as I understand it.

There were a few planes that needed to be replaced, and we called Todd.

Speaker 5

To see what's going on.

He used to be on the referral list.

Speaker 4

Full disclosure, he hasn't been on the referral list for a long time.

But Randy, what is the bottom line.

Speaker 5

Did he ever get to you?

Speaker 15

No, sir, okay Ford answer Kelly, what did Todd say?

Speaker 10

If you can hear me in there is he's simply just.

Speaker 5

Not coming on.

Speaker 10

I don't understand it.

Speaker 15

We never had a problem with him or his company for so many years.

Speaker 10

It's crazy.

Speaker 5

And the thing is this isn't even a big problem, even a big one.

Speaker 15

And it's almost like he's pissed that we're calling him now after he promised me he would have this done in two weeks.

So I don't know why he's digging in on this.

It makes no sense, and apparently he doesn't want to do anything.

So why don't you do me a favorite, Kelly?

Try him one more time right now, would you?

Speaker 5

And then what we'll do is we will we will walk you through the steps of small claims court, find out the cost of replacement of these planks, and just go after his ass.

I mean, I don't know what else to do.

Speaker 4

And by the way, he wasn't I want to make this clear too, he wasn't kicked off the referral list.

Speaker 5

He went off the referral list on his own.

Speaker 10

That's right, probably six months ago.

I don't remember, not even Mark yeah, two months.

Speaker 13

How many planks are we talking about that need to be replaced?

And how much do they cost?

Speaker 18

One hundred and thirty three a piece of sixteen foot long and there's probably, oh maybe sixty foot work.

Speaker 15

We might have Todd coming on hold on to sell them, all right, hold on, So so we'll figure this.

Speaker 10

We'll find out real quick here in a minute.

Speaker 15

Okay, hey, hey, listen, I want to tease something coming up.

You might want to recap it, but basically here's what happened.

In fact, I'll let you hold on.

Kelly, SKay, what tell me?

Speaker 5

Tell me?

Speaker 10

Well, what did Todd say?

Speaker 5

Kelly?

Speaker 22

He's not going to come on, And he says he'll contact Randy off Air.

Speaker 15

Okay, Randy, let us know if he contacts you today.

Speaker 5

Please.

So now I will say this.

I want to say something.

It might be a minor problem.

Speaker 4

Okay, it might be it is and he says, like like sixty feet worth of and they come in sixteen foot lengths.

Speaker 5

Okay, look, a few planks have to be replaced.

It might be a small thing.

Speaker 4

But really I think that if somebody gives a word, they're going to fix something.

And they don't even if it's a small thing that is an indicator of a big thing, because if you're not righteous and little things, you can't be righteous and much.

Speaker 5

I mean you can't be I mean, if you.

Speaker 4

Can't do the little things right, how can you expect them to do other.

Speaker 5

Things right now?

Speaker 15

Well, and what I'm more irritated at than anything is Randy the caller actually had a few other issues, wondering if the way they installed them would avoid the warranty.

And I spent a lot of time dealing with Todd, and Todd assured me once again that he would have what everybody agreed to done in two weeks.

And it just comes and goes, and he doesn't call the guy.

Speaker 10

He doesn't call me.

I emailed him again last week.

Speaker 5

There must be some going There must be something.

Speaker 10

Going on to something going on with high planes.

Speaker 15

Now I have no idea what, but there has to be for how many years no issues?

Speaker 10

And We've seen this so many times tom over the years.

Speaker 5

I know it.

Speaker 4

We're a business all of a sudden goes crazy.

You remember once a long time ago, we had a solar guy that went nuts.

Speaker 15

He was great and then went nuts three years Solar mart and then all of a sudden.

Speaker 10

Oh my god, they went to hell almost in a week.

Speaker 5

But what is it.

Speaker 4

It's almost like they get a problem, they get behind the eight ball, and then they start caving in.

Now, now, this is why we monitor people on the referral list, and we love when people give us feedback.

Speaker 5

It's very important to us.

Speaker 4

And by the way, just as a plug to referral list dot com.

I was the first list ever, Mark and Suzanne.

Speaker 5

And I now run it well.

Speaker 4

And I'll tell you this, we're the only ones that truly police their list, the only ones truly if we want to be truthful at this, we're the only ones that do it.

Now, Deputy Dmitri called on the facility.

I think here, let me recap this and then mark that other thing you were going to talk about.

Well, keys again, but let me let me do this one.

Since Dmitri called on it.

Says she's a victim of domestic violence and went to a residential program called the Better Living Program to help her.

She said her Medicaid paid for the program.

She was then kicked out because she was complaining about conditions, and some of those conditions, she said, were like people smoking fatanyl out in the open by using their spending money that they get from the program to go out and buy drugs and alcohol, et cetera.

So, Deputy d we tried to track down the Better Living program.

Speaker 5

Is that the right number?

Were you able to track them down or not?

Speaker 13

Yes, Tom, I did get in contact with First Priority Institutes for Better Living, which is the program that it sounds like Jen was enrolled in, and I spoke with a lady over there just a few minutes ago.

She said that our caller is completely mistaken because First Priority Institute for Better Living offers only online courses and online treatments, so they offer online di classes.

Speaker 4

And she was living in had nothing to do with the Better Living program.

Speaker 13

Said, First Priority Institute for Better Living does neither.

They neither operate, you know, residence programs, nor do they fund them, nor do they fund or have any contact.

Speaker 5

With any You don't think like that.

Speaker 15

Do you don't think she was fabricating actually living somewhere.

Speaker 5

No, she was just confused.

Speaker 13

And also I looked up the address that she gave us.

It's a very nice single family of residence in Aurora.

Speaker 14

So there's absolutely no organization.

Speaker 5

I wonder, I wonder if there's two different programs.

I wonder if there's one that provided the residential part.

Speaker 15

She said the name change numerous times.

There's something weird at the beginning.

Speaker 5

But okay, so d do you believe these people when you call them?

Speaker 1

Oh?

Speaker 13

Yeah, I mean I looked up their website.

They're very transparent.

They have pictures of their of their therapists, and all they do is online services.

Speaker 14

That's it.

Speaker 5

Okay, So.

Speaker 4

Uh they he said, they only do online.

They have nothing to do with this program.

They don't have any idea what she's talking about.

Did they talk about the allowance of two hundred dollars a week or anything like that.

Speaker 13

Oh, it never got to that because they don't do anything like that.

They don't pay people.

Let's get her back.

Speaker 4

Let's get her back on to figure out if she can figure out what the hell program this house was.

I mean, really, even if she has to go buy the house again and make sure it's the right address.

We do have some techs that are coming in up for them, and Sean Shaun Gilliland and Tasha Dunbar with Denver Real Estate Moguls there they're managers, property managers.

So we are going to have some discussion on that, so stay tuned.

Jen called earlier and said, listen, I was part of this program after being a victim of domestic violence, the Better Living Program, and this house I was staying in had open drug use.

They were smoking fatanyl and they were drinking.

Meanwhile, they're taking our medicaid we live there end up giving us spending money, and people are using this spending money to go out and buy drugs.

And she kept mentioning the Better Living Program.

So we contacted the Better Living Program.

Deputy d You called them and they said she must be mistaken because why well.

Speaker 13

The First Priority Institute for Better Living is an organization that offers online counseling only, and the three areas that they treat with DUI classes.

The second one is for ADHD and another one for autism.

I believe, and everything is done online.

They have no inpatient services and furthermore, they don't fund any such locations they and I believe them.

I mean, this woman had didn't sound like she was bsing me.

And by the way, everything she told me on the phone was confirmed by a quick visit to their website.

Speaker 4

So here's what I want to know, Jen, Is it possible you were part of another program or the house you were living in the house you were living in was not Better Living, it was somewhere else.

Speaker 12

So Okay, they've changed their names several times, like there's been two other names, and I honestly don't remember those days.

This has been the third changing.

They were on scourn Dale Drive.

Speaker 11

And it sets the bills.

Speaker 12

Was the first owner.

I don't know she's still the owner, but I know she has stepped down, her and her husband and his nameless yet.

Speaker 4

Okay, so hold on a second.

So you're talking about the house you were living in the house you were living in.

That address you gave us doesn't check out?

Was it was it a house?

How big of a house was it?

And was it in Aurora?

Speaker 9

Yes?

Speaker 12

It was an Aurora and in south it was the Southlands.

Speaker 4

It is in the Southlands area, the South Winds area of Aurora.

That's that.

They are big houses there.

And it was a group home, is that right?

Speaker 8

Yeah?

Speaker 12

Yeah?

Yeah, I mean it was too home sleep all the size like.

Speaker 9

The stream mission.

Speaker 4

We need we need okay?

And that address, you remember the address she gave us.

Speaker 13

I have the address, but I'm afraid to tell you what it is because she may be mistaken too.

I'm looking at a photograph on redfin of a very nice house.

Speaker 5

Was it a very nice house?

Jen?

Speaker 12

It's on the corner, It's on the corner.

Speaker 5

Right there.

She's describing the house accurately.

On the corner.

Speaker 13

It's on the corner, it's light, grades got a three car garage.

Speaker 4

Is that it was the owner of that house, the one renting to you?

Speaker 5

Or was it?

Were they renting it and then using it?

Do you know?

Well I just paid for.

Speaker 12

They were just paid with my medicaid.

Speaker 5

I can't they were taking your medicaid.

How many people live there?

Speaker 12

There was Chelsea, which she's a social worker.

Speaker 5

Just just tell me how many total were living there?

Speaker 12

There was one?

Speaker 9

Two?

Speaker 5

Okay, six of you.

Speaker 13

It's a five bedroom home and it's thirty eight hundred squer feet.

Speaker 5

So was it a five bedroom home?

Jen?

Speaker 9

It was?

Speaker 8

Okay?

Speaker 12

There is the master bedroom up stair.

Speaker 4

Okay, listen, No, I can't go through no, no, no, no, don't don't.

Speaker 5

I don't want you going through it in your head.

We can't do that on the air.

Speaker 4

So basically, I think you got the right house.

And we just can't figure out who ran this program because we don't know who to contact.

Speaker 5

We really don't know who to contact, and.

Speaker 15

What are we trying to accomplish even if we contacted him?

Speaker 4

Mind, well, I want to I want to find out about the program where people are given spending money to go out and buy drugs and smoke while they're on a program.

Speaker 15

And that books, it's possible someone just rented the house and sub rented out all these rooms and collected money.

Speaker 5

Jen.

Have you been when?

When were you kicked out?

Jen?

Speaker 8

I was kicked out.

Speaker 12

It was two weeks ago.

Speaker 5

Where do you live now?

Speaker 9

Thanks, kiddy?

Speaker 8

I have nowhere to go.

Speaker 5

Well, yeah, that's one of the reasons she called.

Speaker 4

She was kicked out two weeks ago, but she had nowhere else to go.

Speaker 5

But you do have medicaid, right, yes?

Speaker 12

And I knew something was going on and I mentioned something earlier about it, but they said I was too smart for balkit.

Speaker 5

Okay, can you you can still use your Medicaid to get into another program?

Speaker 1

Right?

Speaker 12

Yeah, I've been trying.

I plugged the well Power program time.

But it's just a history, you know, So I don't have.

Speaker 5

The funds car.

Speaker 1

And a.

Speaker 12

You know, they're struck.

They're just struggling.

Speaker 5

Okay, I don't know what to do.

Speaker 4

If you get the name Jen, if you can, if you drive by there, are they still Are they still there?

Speaker 5

Now?

Speaker 23

Do you know?

Speaker 5

Are they still in that house?

Speaker 9

There?

Speaker 12

Yes, they all reside in everything going ause.

Speaker 4

Wait, so that that house right now that you gave us the address to, they're still there.

Speaker 5

Jen, We should have somebody swing by that house.

Speaker 4

I mean, Ken, you're telling me that this is a home that's supposed to be given giving mental health help help, and the people are openly using drugs and alcohol exactly.

Speaker 12

You know, they promised me.

Speaker 5

And medicaid and medicaid is paying for it, and medicaid is paying for it.

Speaker 12

Yes, yes, how.

Speaker 10

Much medicaid did you get?

Speaker 11

I don't know how much medicaid?

Speaker 9

I get.

Speaker 14

Well, that's weird.

Speaker 12

They don't give us our medicaid that we can't check the bill.

They give us our milk.

Speaker 10

I don't even know what that means.

Speaker 14

I know what that means.

They open all the mail.

Speaker 5

They don't know.

Speaker 10

I get that.

But how does she not know how much medicaid she gets?

Speaker 13

Well, the only way she knows to see what these checks are that the treatment facility gets okay and they intercept the checks.

But I'm not surprised to hear any of these.

I mean, these homes are all over the place, and they're very shady.

Well, I should say they're shrouded in mystery.

Right, they're trying to keep a low profile.

These are very country we sure.

Speaker 4

Like like we heard about like in Minnesota, Like we hear about this all the time.

These social programs are wrought with fraud.

I mean it shouldn't surprise us.

Uh Mark said that earlier.

It shouldn't surprise us that a program in Denver or an Aura whatever in Colorado is fraudulent.

Speaker 15

It should I would like to say this since you invoked Aurora, Aurora is doing a lot better.

Honest to god, Aurora is at least trying.

Speaker 13

I agree.

Look, they impounded over what eleven hundred vehicles.

Speaker 15

Yeah, they let me tell you, you drive around without insurance or a license or anything.

They're going to take your vehicle.

They're going to sell your vehicle.

They're solving the problems absolutely.

Well, that's good.

Edwards, You've been waiting a long time about your sewer backup?

Speaker 5

What's going on?

Edward?

What's happening?

Speaker 9

Hey to I'm about a month ago.

Speaker 24

I had a two weeks backup on my property.

Speaker 9

Now I called.

Speaker 24

One of the big advertised companies they always advertise on TV.

Right who I called one of them?

Speaker 9

And they came.

Speaker 5

Out, Who did you call?

Can you tell us?

Speaker 9

I don't really want to mention any names.

Okay, advertise a lot on.

Speaker 4

TV A big Okay, that doesn't mean much to me, But go ahead.

Speaker 24

Now, I don't know if it'd be good to tell their name or not, but well.

Speaker 5

Okay, go ahead, No, no, it's okay.

You don't want to mention them, go ahead.

Yeah, they gave you a price.

Speaker 9

They came out, they gave me a price.

Okay.

Speaker 24

Now I checked around.

I had another guy, Mom and pop guy come out here.

He did the same exact thing that they would have done.

Okay, nothing more, nothing less.

You did a good job.

Speaker 18

One day.

Speaker 24

He had everything fits the whole service line.

Okay, he had an inspection in the street, and it was a third the price as a big company.

Speaker 9

That app chan because all the time, and I'm.

Speaker 24

Not talking about a ten or fifteen thousand dollars difference either.

That's why I thought it's important word to call you word.

Speaker 4

Of course it's important, of course it is.

It shows the importance of shopping around.

But here's what I'd like to know.

The first company you called, oh, how much was the estimate?

Speaker 9

It was over thirty thousand, over.

Speaker 5

Thirty thousand dollars.

Speaker 4

And the second company that fixed it, how much did they charge?

Speaker 24

Eighty nine hundred eighty nine hundred.

Speaker 5

Okay, that is really good.

That is really good.

Speaker 15

Now, why won't you give the name plumbing would have been cheaper than the eighty nine what's that?

I bet I know a company that would have been cheaper than the eighty nine hundred, But I mean we'll never know it.

Speaker 24

Yeah, that may be, but I just wanted the public to be aware that they're always average.

Speaker 5

Well, you're on TV, the public, the public.

Listen.

Speaker 4

You keep saying that you want the public to be aware, but you don't want to give the name of the company.

So what do you make in the company aware of that there may be a company out there that's charging.

Speaker 5

A lot of money.

I mean, give us the name of the damn company.

Okay, never mind, I'll see Edward.

Speaker 4

Take it easy, Edward, you're doing a you know, hey, I want to call and warn you that somebody's charging a lot of money, but I can't tell you who they are.

Okay, thank you, Edward.

We appreciate that very much.

Three h three seven one three talk seven one three eight two five.

Speaker 16

Wow.

Speaker 15

All right, you can't make up what I just learned from my Walmart insider.

Speaker 4

So we're going to have a follow up on that.

Smart you want to tell us.

Speaker 5

Okay, well, we're going to talk about it.

Speaker 4

But I want to also know about this other thing you were going to tease.

Speaker 15

Why don't hurts over this bathtub thing?

I cannot believe what I.

Speaker 21

Was just teasing two hours Mark?

Speaker 5

Yeah, but what's the other team about?

Speaker 1

Mark?

Speaker 24

Was?

Speaker 15

We had a guy call up and basically said I was going to have my truck wrapped.

I gave this guy a thousand bucks and he wanted to use cheap quality rap and I decided not to use him and I wanted my money back.

The cops ended up involved in this deal.

And the guy that owns the rap business.

Speaker 5

Oh that one that one hold on?

What was the guy's name?

I want to bring up the call mark of it.

Speaker 13

So the call came in on November eighteenth.

Our caller's name was Matthews, Yes, and he here's what he said.

Speaker 4

He found a guy Anthony Yorke on AMG Customs Professional Vinyl on Facebook marketplace to wrap his car one thousand dollars deposit to uder material and he said it was supposed to be either three M or avery, but he found out that it wasn't, so he wanted his money back and he said he and Matthew claims he gave his money back.

Speaker 5

Matthew claims, I mean Anthony.

Anthony claims, I'm sorry.

Speaker 4

Anthony claims he paid eight hundred and sixty dollars to a deputy and that deputy paid Matthew, so he claimed he paid back the money.

Speaker 5

Mark.

Speaker 4

Did you look at the bodycam footage?

Speaker 21

Yeah, we looked at it, Tommy.

Speaker 5

Okay, he claims.

Speaker 4

Anthony claims we could destroy his business if he could not prove what he was saying, and he said the bodycam footage would show him counting out the money and that Matthew was lying.

Speaker 5

We'll talk about it coming up.

Speaker 5

Have to run anxious ass as you can.

Speaker 2

Shooter's gonna help come.

Speaker 3

Man six is the Troubleshooter Show, No, Tom Martinez.

Speaker 4

Oh my goodness, do we have a lot to talk about?

Oh my goodness, Oh my goodness.

Okay, first and foremost, we have a number of follow up Okay, which one do you want to do first?

Before we take We'll take Chris's call, who has a comment on sewer estimates by the way that we talked about and how people can get a variation and estimates.

One guy said he called a company who estimated thirty grand, and he had a smaller company come out and do the sewer repair for eighty nine hundred.

So let's take Chris's comment first, and then we'll go on.

And these follow ups are major people.

And I'm really interested in that bodycam footage that I'll explain in a minute.

Speaker 5

Chris, go ahead.

What is your comment on sewer estimates?

Speaker 4

The guy said that he was able to get the job done for a third of the price.

Speaker 18

I was wondering if you gave it your spiel about big company versus little company?

Speaker 5

What spiel?

Well, okay, here's.

Speaker 4

What I say about here's what I say about pricing in general, there are companies that can do jobs cheaper and their one job away from bankruptcy, meaning that if they have a problem, they can't stand behind it.

Speaker 5

Blah blah blah.

But hold on a second.

Speaker 4

But there is something else I say, and that is I don't believe.

I don't believe in price gouging either.

And I love the guaranteed lowest price.

I love when you have both, when you have the guaranteed lowest price and it does come from a company that can stand behind things like I advertise renew home innovations.

Okay, they give the guaranteed lowest price on furnaces and they will stand behind jobs, and they are big.

Speaker 5

Okay, so they say the guaranteed lowest price.

Speaker 4

But I don't think that price is everything, Nor do I say that price indicates quality.

So on a sore repair, when you have Europlumbing Mark that'll do a job for pennies on the dollar compared to a bigger company.

Speaker 15

They specialize in water heaters, house re pipes, in sewer line repair meaning water or sewer repair.

Speaker 5

Yeah, they make three areas.

Speaker 15

They own all their equipment.

That's just what they do.

Speaker 4

Yeah, So I do believe that there is an advantage to a bigger company, but that doesn't mean you should subject yourself to price gouge.

Speaker 10

What were you going to say?

Speaker 5

Yeah, go ahead, sorry, Chris, that's all right.

Speaker 16

This is what you also usually say.

Speaker 18

Let's say I have a big company that does ten million in sales a year.

Then I have another company, a smaller company does a million dollars.

Speaker 1

In sales a year.

Speaker 17

I get from both of them.

Speaker 18

Of Course, the bigger company is going to be more because they have more overhead, they have more trucks, and more insurance for everything.

Speaker 5

That's right, that's right, that's right.

Speaker 18

Well, that's why I wanted to explain to people.

Sometimes when you call the big guys, they got to charge the more because that's what it costs.

Speaker 5

That's true, Chris, You're absolutely right.

Speaker 4

Sometimes just the cost of doing business, or the fact that they're owned by a big private equity company that wants return on investment.

Speaker 5

You're right.

Speaker 15

I'll give an example of something that's a complete opposite.

Speaker 10

Plumb Line Services.

Speaker 15

They have a ninety three dollars yup clean clean your sewer liner.

It's free for ninety three bucks, and nine out of ten times if not more.

It's ninety three bucks to get it clean.

What they're banking on and the reason they do it for ninety three it's no.

I mean, it shouldn't be that crazy.

Occasionally you're gonna have a tree into a sewer line and that turns into a big repair.

Speaker 10

It's just a great way of average or.

Speaker 5

They want you to be.

They want you to see what they can do.

Speaker 15

Wait, yeah, I agree with all that, but my point in bringing that up is a smaller company could never a father insane point that's right, could never go out for three hours for ninety three bucks and pay their mortgage, let alone make any money in their company.

Speaker 4

Now, Mark, and why do you think fix it twenty four to seven?

Speaker 5

Does that thirty nine dollars?

Extreme?

Speaker 15

Name exact reason they want to get into the house.

They want to show you what a great company they are.

And once again, a mind pot would be crazy to go out to your house spend two hours cleaning your furnace.

We've heard of We've heard people literally call the showtime where they have taken parts of their furnace because they're so dirty, bring them to a car wash, bring them back assemble it.

Put that no breakdown guarantee.

A mind pop could never do that.

There's not enough employees.

Speaker 4

You're right, So there's good and bad with everything in life.

Nothing is as good or as bad as people say.

Ever, now here's here's the bottom line.

I need to talk about this Walmart thing.

This is because I'm dying of curiosity.

Here here's what I want to know.

First and foremost.

The call came in and Ryan said he bought a claw tooth tub, a claw foot tub I meant from Walmart, and they delivered a white tub, but he ordered black.

They made two more attempts to correct the problem, but the tubs were still white, and he was sent and he wanted he sent him back.

Okay, he wanted a black tub.

Speaker 13

Now, may I clarify something you said?

Go ahead, So the tub is supposed to be white on the inside and black on the app.

Speaker 4

Okay, Well, okay when he called, I didn't know that, but okay, So in other words, he wanted a black tub.

Speaker 14

Outside, yeah, okay, and white on the inside.

Speaker 10

Okay, it doesn't matter.

Speaker 5

But by the way, but I don't know.

Speaker 4

Look at all I know is what he said.

He said he wanted a black tub.

Okay, I get it.

I get it, and I think what happened was somehow he said they got it wrong.

Bottom line was he's being charged for two tubs.

Speaker 10

Let me jump in.

Speaker 15

So while this is going on yesterday, Dmitri's working on it, I'm working on it.

I literally start looking at the that he sent us a picture of there's a five hundred pound tub sitting on his porch, no joke, still in the box.

So I'm looking at all the different numbers on the box and I start doing research and I look it up and no matter what I look at, it says that is a black.

Speaker 10

And white tub.

Period to end a story.

Speaker 15

So I actually email this guy some information and I ask him, I said, is this possible the apparent off white or creamy shade visible in the outside of your unboxed photos is most likely the plastic wrapping and other things under it.

Are you positive it's not black?

And he replies the caller Ryan, absolutely not.

Now why do I bring that up?

Let's ask Ryan Ryan?

What did we find out?

Speaker 25

Yeah, So what we found out is that indeed, if and like contractor didn't do it, nobody did it.

There's like five layers of wrapping.

There was clear wrapping.

There was a white blanket and all of this around it, and if you got through that, it is indeed outside it black.

Speaker 15

And just out of curiosity when I sent you a very detailed email saying the reason it probably appears white is because of this.

You didn't even look yesterday.

What made you finally look.

Speaker 25

What made me finally look is is I spoke to Dmitri again and he spoke with your buddy from Walmart, who said they've had this issue before.

Speaker 14

Yeah, hold on, hold on, hold on.

Speaker 4

Here's what I want to know.

When did in order to check it?

Did you have to unwrap the whole thing?

Speaker 5

Ryan?

Speaker 14

This morning?

A little bit ago?

Speaker 5

Okay?

Speaker 13

I said, Ryan, can you please carefully cut through all of that wrapping and and you know, look at the bathtub itself without the wrapping, tell us what color of the exterior is?

Speaker 5

Okay?

Speaker 14

Did?

Speaker 13

And it turns out that it is actually a correct bathtub.

Speaker 15

And I think that, Ryan, how many bathtubs did you receive you thought were wrong?

Speaker 10

Three or four?

Speaker 1

Three?

Speaker 25

And here's here's the crazy part.

Is when our contractor said, hey, this is a white tub, and you know, I looked at the outside and it looked white.

When the other two cut tubs came, we asked the freight drivers like, hey, we you know we received a white one.

Can you please open up the box?

Speaker 10

And they didn't look where the tub is?

Speaker 5

So what was making you think it was white?

Speaker 10

He just said that.

Speaker 5

It was wrapped in white stuff.

Speaker 15

Okay, Yeah, here's the big blanket.

Speaker 9

All white.

Speaker 15

Brian, here's the good news for you.

And I don't want you to bring his name up.

Well, I don't care if we call him Brian.

Brian's going to get you the refund you have coming, even though this wasn't Walmart's issue whatsoever.

Speaker 25

So okay, So I actually I actually spoke spoke to him.

Speaker 5

Yep.

Speaker 25

And because because there's there's a myriad of issues, that was our bat on, you know, the contractors of mine not cutting through everything.

We're calling up Walmarts.

But the bigger issue is we're still being charged twice and we contacted Walmarts seven times to pick up the tough.

Speaker 10

And like I just said, they're going to handle that.

Speaker 5

Yeah.

So I'm great.

Speaker 25

We appreciated Mark that you had a great contact at Walmart to finally, you know, get through this.

Speaker 10

I still want to post some to you.

Speaker 15

I literally spelled out exactly what exactly what ended up being.

Speaker 5

Oh wow, so does Mark get your dinger?

Speaker 10

Oh my god, of course he does this this dinger.

Speaker 5

Everyone gets the dinger.

Speaker 10

Brian, you get a d You get a dinger, gets a.

Speaker 5

Mark gets a dinger.

Dmitri gets a dinger.

Speaker 10

You all get a danger Dmitri bendo what.

Speaker 5

This is a crazy story, guys, It's not.

Speaker 13

As crazy as the badgecam video story is going to be in a few minutes.

Speaker 4

Now, this is another story.

We got to take this break and come back.

Hi, Tom Martino, you're troubleshooter.

Three oh three seven one three talk three oh three seven one three A two five five Listen.

I'm a registered investment advisor representative.

The state listens to my show.

I'm held accountable for what's said on this show.

And I want to bring something out, and I promise you.

I love annuities.

I love Joe Keiano, I love Jordan, I love the company.

Speaker 5

They're great people.

Speaker 4

But you should never, and I'm telling you this, you should never have an annuity grow for thirty or forty years.

Speaker 5

You would do yourself a disservice.

Any indexed fund, any ETF index fund, just sitting there will outperform an annuity every single time.

Now, once you grow your money, if you want to go to Joe and Jordan and buy an annuity, you will have guaranteed income for life.

I bought an annuity.

Speaker 4

I had an accumulation of money, and I bought an annuity because it's a good thing to do later in life.

You should never, as a young person, put five thousand dollars away in an annuity and let it grow.

I'm going to I can give you a comparison.

But I'll tell you what for twenty years.

If I put one hundred grand in an annuity for twenty years, do you know what I would have in a fixed indextinuity At the end of twenty years, I would have two hundred nineteen thousand dollars.

How much would I have in an S and P five hundred indexed fund, an ETF that I left alone and never touched.

Speaker 5

I would have six.

Speaker 4

Hundred forty thousand dollars six hundred and forty compared to two hundred.

Speaker 5

Am I saying annuities are bad?

No, I am not.

Speaker 4

But I am telling you you should never let them s for thirty or forty years, and you should never do it as part of your whole financial plan.

Speaker 5

It's not made for everyone.

That's just a fact of life.

Speaker 4

I want to tell you something else.

There's nothing wrong, nothing wrong with them at all.

I want to make that clear.

But when you hear I just want you to know this, and I'm telling you personal experience.

When you hear about the bonus is going.

Speaker 5

In, there's nothing wrong with that, but that bonus you pay for because you get less of a percentage of payout.

The more the bonus is so if you get a big bonus going in, you have more money working for you, but the payout is less than if you have less of a bonus.

Now why am I doing this?

Because I am bound by law to do it.

Speaker 4

I cannot and will not let certain things fly without explanation.

Speaker 5

That is the explanation.

Speaker 4

Okay, I'm sorry, but I'm a registered investment advisor and that's what I have to do.

Okay, I'm sorry I let things fly, but I just want to clarify I am not Just to be clear, I am not saying there is anything wrong with it whatsoever.

Speaker 5

Okay, nothing wrong whatsoever.

I just need you to put it in in uh what do you call it?

In perspective?

Now we have a follow up of bodycam footage?

Do we have who saw the video?

Mark?

Speaker 13

Did you see the video was dropped off at the studio?

I hope you've had a chance to take a look at it.

Speaker 22

I can give you a little bit of a recap on that.

Speaker 4

Now I want to recap the story.

And then you capped the video.

Speaker 5

Okay, So Matthew, a consumer called us and said that he wanted his money back.

It just spoils down to.

Speaker 4

That from a guy that he didn't want to wrap his car anymore.

The guy said, okay, he would give his money back.

In fact, he claims he did give the money back.

He claims that he counted out the dollars.

Speaker 5

He counted them out in.

Speaker 4

Front of a deputy, and the deputy took the money and gave it back to the consumer.

He said the bodycam footage would clearly show this.

In fact, he went one step further and he said, if you look at the bodycam footage and I'm lying, you can ruin me and you can ruin my business.

Speaker 5

Matthews the consumer.

Speaker 4

We told Matthew and we told Anthony both.

Anthony is the vendor with I believe it's AMG Customs.

But they both claimed the body footage would vindicate them.

Okay, so what happened when you looked at the bodycam footage?

What happened?

Here's what I want to know.

Who looked at it?

I didn't look at it.

Mark's not there.

Mark did look at it?

Did Mark look at it?

Speaker 22

Mark Hues had to step out?

Speaker 5

But I did look at it.

Speaker 22

And so I can kind of give you a little bit of a recap.

Speaker 5

If you'd like okay, go ahead.

Speaker 22

So there were two videos attached to the bodycam footage.

Speaker 5

The first one was.

Speaker 22

Just a basic kind of stop in a parking lot and it looked like Matthew was parked off to the side and him and the two sheriff deputies were talking.

And then the second video was actually at Anthony Yorke's house, which is where he does business out of and they went up and tried to get him out of the house, knocked on the door a few times.

Eventually he did come out of the house.

They asked him about the thousand dollars.

Speaker 5

Now, wait, you can hear that.

You can hear that.

Speaker 22

The audio is very very iffy, but you can make it out.

Speaker 5

Okay.

Speaker 22

He asked him about the thousand dollars, and Anthony said he and Matthew had an agreement that he needed more time.

And at that point the sheriffs were kind of well, there's not much more we can do if he's saying that you had an agreement, blah blah blah.

Speaker 21

So they went back to.

Speaker 22

Matthew, talked a little bit about it in the street, and nothing really got resolved.

Speaker 13

So there was no video of Anthony counting out the money.

Speaker 14

To the sheriff.

Speaker 22

No, thank you, said, he came out very briefly on his doorstep talk to the officer, said that he did not have the money and that him and Matthew had an agreement or from what And again this audio was very not great, but from what I could gather, they had an agreements according to Anthony, and that he needed more time.

Speaker 5

Thank you, Kelly.

So didn't they count out the money or not?

No?

Hey, liede.

Speaker 13

He sounds like, yeah, there's some kind of as miss.

Speaker 5

Oh, Matthew, I want to know Matthew are you there?

Speaker 26

Yes, sir?

Speaker 5

Okay, So is Anthony gonna did we try to get Anthony back on uh that?

Speaker 9

I don't know.

Speaker 5

I'm going to call him right there?

Speaker 26

Oh yeah, you can Okay here on the video, Tom, you can hear on the video they asked him about it and he said nope, he could take me to court.

Speaker 9

You can hear that on the video.

Speaker 5

So basically, this guy is an absolute liar.

Speaker 4

Yeah, I mean, man, he absolutely said you would see it in the What did he think we would do?

Speaker 5

Not look at the footage?

What did he think?

Speaker 14

Yeah, it's kind of weird.

And furthermore, Anthony.

Speaker 26

All the sheriff.

They said, I was the only one that had asked for the video so far, so he didn't even try to get the video.

Speaker 27

I think I was the only one that requested it.

Speaker 5

What's that?

Speaker 27

I think we also going to recall that Anthony in the beginning had said that he had counted out the money on the hood of the car and had video of it.

And then once he provided video to us, it was.

Speaker 5

I thought he said he counted out to the deputy.

Speaker 14

Yeah, Anthony said him.

Speaker 27

The video that Anthony provided us was just his driveway and the officers walking away.

Speaker 13

Yeah, that's the one that Tom stared at for a long long time.

But Anthony previous prior to sending us that video, Anthony said, I made a video myself of me counting out the money.

You can see it in the video.

I put in an envelope and handed it to the deputy to hand to Matthew.

And then when he did finally send us a video, all it was was like a like a door security cam video of sheriff deputies walking away from his from his front door.

Okay, there's a huge disconnect between what Anthony told us several times and what we actually witnessed happening several times on videos.

Speaker 22

And also, I just tried to call Anthony and it's going straight to voicemail.

So he's either listening to us or he's not going to pick up.

Speaker 10

And Matthew correct me.

Speaker 22

In the first video, didn't the SHARE's deputy say something about they've had complaints about this before from others?

Speaker 26

Yes, they said, as soon as I gave him the address and the name and I described Anthony to them.

She looked at the other officer and she kind of chuckled.

She said, I don't want to tell you this, but you can hear it on the video, the first one.

She said, we've been to this house before for this same type of deal.

People want their money back.

Speaker 9

And he won't give it to them.

God, you can hear them.

Speaker 26

She says that on the video that you can see on the body cam that's on the first one, that's only like two or three minutes long.

Speaker 4

All right, Well, this guy we got to let people know about it.

He's a psychopathic liar.

Speaker 5

I mean, the guy's a liar.

Speaker 14

There does appear to be.

Speaker 5

I came right out, what other words you have for well?

Speaker 13

My word is there's an apparent disconnect between what Anthony told us and what we viewed on.

Speaker 5

Several Well, that's right, there's a Discannank.

I'm glad you mentioned a Disconnank.

Well, I'm unfeelingly polite.

We we have more coming up on the Troubleshooter Show.

All right, So bottom line is this is Matthew was telling the truth.

Matthew never got his money back.

Anthony York.

It has to be crazy, Anthony York said, he and I can quote him.

Speaker 5

He said, if you see that I'm lying.

You can ruin me, you can destroy me.

Speaker 4

I'd be crazy to come on the radio and lie.

And that is Anthony York of AMG Customs Professional Vinyl.

Speaker 5

He is, He's a lunatic.

Speaker 4

The guy came on the air and said that the bodycam footage will clearly show me counting out the money and that Matthew is lying.

I mean, this is unbelievable to me.

You know, Matthew, you should go back and get copies of this show on YouTube where he was on, and you should take this guy to small claims court.

Speaker 5

This guy is crazy, is he?

Speaker 26

Yeah?

Speaker 9

Yeah, that's all I want to try to don't.

Speaker 26

I don't know how much you got to pay at small claims.

You know it's a thousand, you know.

Speaker 4

It's fifty bucks or something.

Here, here's the weird part about it.

Here's the weird part about it.

All he had to do was say, I don't give refunds.

I'm not going to refund your deposit.

I mean there was no mandatory refund here.

You put down one thousand dollars and changed her mind because she didn't like the material.

And you could have gone back and forth all day long.

He could have said I never promised three M.

You could have said he did.

He could have said I'm not going to give your money back and that would have been it.

But he didn't do that.

He went one step further and he said I did give your money back or something, right, I mean I not no, excuse me, excuse me, all but one hundred and forty he was keeping.

He said, one hundred and forty he was keeping for shipping, for shipping back to the manufacturers.

Speaker 5

Right.

Speaker 26

Even then, I have email from him that says I got all one thousand for you.

How do you want me to give it to you?

And that's the whole ze Venmo thing came about.

And then he gave me an excuse, well, I can't get the electronic transfer.

Speaker 18

I'll meet you at the police department.

Speaker 26

And that's that's where it went south, and that he would never meet me.

So that's the night that I took the sheriff to.

Speaker 18

His house, his house, m man.

Speaker 4

And the body footage, the bodycam footage.

You knew it was going to vindicate you, right, absolutely absolutely.

Have we tried to call Anthony back, Yeah, Kelly just tried to call him.

Speaker 14

And it keeps going to voicemail.

Speaker 4

It's seven for I think we should tell him that.

I mean, he said we could ruin him.

He gave us permission, He said, you can ruin me.

Speaker 4

Martino You're troubleshooter three all three seven one three talk seven one three eight two five.

Speaker 5

Five welcome to the.

Speaker 4

Show we are here to help you solve, problems answer, questions take, complaints as we've been doing for forty five.

Years And i'm telling you it never ceases to amaze me the problems we get on this, show, like for, example the problem where the bodycam footage told the story AND i want to set this.

Up, Okay, Basically matthew gave a thousand dollars deposit TO Amg Custom Vinyl anthony AT Amg Custom vinyl to do a vinyl wrap on his.

Car after paying the thousand dollars, deposit he said he didn't like the vinyl Material anthony, ordered so he wanted a.

Refund matthew says he was tired of waiting for his, refund so he took the sheriff's deputies To anthony's house to collect.

Speaker 5

It, now this is where the story gets.

Speaker 4

Weird he claims he counted out the money in front of a deputy and the bodycam footage would actually show.

Speaker 5

It, okay he.

Speaker 4

Said he counted out the money And matthew said he did no such.

Thing they both agreed the bodycam footage would tell the.

Truth so we ordered the bodycam, footage and the bodycam footage clearly SHOWED i didn't see.

It, So, kachina what did the bodycam footage?

Speaker 22

Show, so LIKE i, said on the first, video it showed just in the parking lot of them actually preparing to go To anthony's.

House and that was when And matthew correct me If i'm, wrong but that was when they kind of snickered and said they had been To anthony's residence.

Speaker 5

Before.

Speaker 22

Then the second video actually is just the two deputies Approaching anthony's, house which is also where he does work out, of and he you, know they knocked a few.

Times he didn't come at.

First eventually he did come.

Out the deputy talked to him and basically he, SAID i do not have the.

Money anthony Or matthew AND i already have an agreement THAT i needed more, time and so that's where we.

Speaker 4

Are that's, it and it shows nothing about money being.

Speaker 22

Counted, nothing no money it, actually he said that he did not have the money and that he And matthew said that he would have more.

Speaker 4

Time, Okay so basically then when we had him on the, show he, said the footage would clearly, show he, said would clearly show.

Speaker 5

That he refunded the.

Speaker 4

Money, right he, Said that's what he, said it would clearly.

Speaker 5

Show and it did.

Not, okay bottom, line it did.

Speaker 4

Not in, fact it was just the opposite and it showed nothing of the.

Speaker 5

Sort so here's what people are.

Speaker 4

Wondering what do we do, Now, well here's WHAT i wanted to, mention and this is WHERE i want this tape of when he was on the.

Speaker 5

Show So dragon was able.

Speaker 4

To get the audio of the day That anthony was on the, show AND i, said, look this body cam is going to tell the truth and go ahead and play What anthony.

Speaker 16

Said if it, Doesn't i'm the, liar then you can just ruin my whole.

Speaker 5

Business, wow we think about this.

Speaker 16

Guy If i'm the, liar then just ruin and just, say, hey this business is a.

Scam If i'm not the, liar then you put him on blast and give me more.

Business that's how it.

Speaker 4

Worked so what do you make out of?

That he was claiming that he is going to prove he's telling the truth or we can ruin.

Speaker 5

Him isn't That what isn't?

That how you you?

KNOW i, Mean, dragon how do you interpret?

That how do you interpret?

That?

Speaker 27

Yeah if the video proves that he did not give the, money we can ruin his business.

Speaker 4

And deputy D this whole thing seems troubling to.

Speaker 5

You i'm looking at.

You you seem troubled by.

Speaker 4

It oh you don't like the idea that this guy was out and outlying like.

Speaker 13

That, YEAH i, mean especially since he was doing it so fluently and, fluidly you.

Speaker 5

Know.

Yeah, so, uh here's WHAT i want to.

Know what About?

Mark you you called in with a, Comment go, Ahead, mark what is your?

COMMENT I I?

Speaker 9

Tom, yeah theory on?

Speaker 20

This matthew had mentioned that the police had been out there, before possibly for another.

Speaker 24

Refund maybe he's referring to that refund.

Speaker 5

Video, no he clearly.

Knew he clearly knew we were talking About.

Matthew we had them both on the air at the same.

Speaker 4

Time, yea, exactly they were both on the air at the same, time and all of.

Speaker 5

That just.

Speaker 4

Because you want to you want to try the, best you want to find the best of this, situation because it's shocking to think that this could actually, happen that somebody could come on the radio and actually lie like.

That Just anthony York, Is anthony york OF Amg Custom vinyl came on in the err and, said If i'm, lying you can ruin my.

Business but If i'm, not he, says then you need to basically call Out matthew and then give me more.

Business didn't he go on to say, that, Right, so so basically he was saying he was telling the, truth and the bodycam footage would show him counting out eight hundred and sixty.

Dollars by the, way he was keeping one hundred and forty for.

SHIPPING i didn't know what to.

BELIEVE i, thought Is matthew mentally?

Speaker 5

Ill or is this other?

Speaker 4

Guy because they're both telling opposite.

Stories, So, matthew what are your plans from?

HERE i think what you need to do is you need to take this guy to small claims, court although he's a, liar SO i don't know what's going to.

HAPPEN i, mean if there's a, judgment he's going to try to evade the.

Judgment he obviously has no, uh.

Scruples you, know what do you?

Speaker 26

Think that's, yeah that's my next that's my next plan, is, uh get in touch with The Jefferson county courts and see WHAT i need to proceed with on take him to the small claims court for my.

Money but it won't get my money.

Back but you, know he'd have to go to.

Court even if he goes to, court he might not even go to.

Speaker 5

Court you.

Speaker 26

Know that's that's up in the air.

Speaker 14

Too.

Speaker 5

WELL i doubt he'd show.

Speaker 18

Up track record is, well.

Speaker 14

If he doesn't show, up you get a default judgment.

Speaker 5

Automatically, yeah BUT i don't even know how do you collect the?

Judgment did he own the house you went?

To do you?

Know did he own that?

Speaker 18

House that's that's WHAT i don't.

Speaker 26

KNOW i don't know if it's a rental or if it's a house that he.

Owns i'm not sure on.

Speaker 4

That, hey when you take people to, Court, dimitri do you do an asset check of any kind to see what they?

Speaker 1

Have?

Speaker 13

NO i, mean so far all my cases were small enough OR i don't have to worry about.

Speaker 5

It and their businesses, too, right their?

Speaker 14

Businesses?

Speaker 4

Yeah, Yeah So, matthew keep us informed on what you're going to.

Do we're going to revisit, this and it's just to me un.

Believable it's just.

Unbelievable.

Katrina i'm sorry you had to wait so.

Long what's going?

Speaker 9

On?

Speaker 4

Now you bought a you're a single mom with a sixteen year old, daughter and you bought a USED.

Speaker 5

Rv now tell us the.

Story go, Ahead.

Speaker 11

Katrina this gentleman asked it as if this was HIS.

Rv they told me that the last time that we used it just wasn't very long.

Ago everything worked, fine And dave and, SAID, I i'm, SORRY i had no.

IDEA i know the roof air, works everything works done in the, CAPER i have that.

Impact and as soon AS i started asking questions about everything that didn't, work they they they blocked.

Speaker 5

Me and hold on, now how much how much did you pay for?

Speaker 11

It eight thousand?

Speaker 5

Dollars and and you, uh after you paid the, money you can't get a hold of him.

Anymore that's.

Speaker 11

Right they blocked.

Me SO i started doing some research AND i found out the gentleman's name Was Sparky yonko and that he has five spots at The Rocky Mountain storage In, brighton where he continuously sells r, v's and none of them are sold in his.

Name he's selling AN rv that belongs To Donovan Christopher.

Speaker 4

Anthony well who signed it over to?

Speaker 5

You was it this woman that signed it over to?

Speaker 11

You him and this woman which they presented himself as man in?

Speaker 5

Life and what was her name?

Again her first?

Speaker 11

Name tela t e i L a.

Speaker 5

T e l I A.

Tilia, okay and so till you was selling he was selling it for Two, well he.

Speaker 11

Was selling it as if they were a married.

Speaker 5

COUPLE i don't know what that.

Speaker 14

Matters he.

Speaker 11

Has, well they were, saying you know this so long says we just used it when we.

Speaker 5

NO i get.

IT i get.

It But, katrina let's let's get right to.

It what's wrong with?

It was there a title?

Involved?

Speaker 4

Yeah you know she bought, it but now she's upset about it because apparently they misrepresented.

Speaker 5

It so hold on and we'll come back to that.

Speaker 4

STORY i got to figure out how they misrepresented it and if you can do anything about, it because you may have purchased it as.

Is hold, On I'm Tom martino three oh three seven to one THREE a two five, Five go with a sure Thing denver's best Roofer Excel roofing dot.

Two Hi Tom martino here three three seven one three talks seven one THREE a two five.

Speaker 5

Five So, katrina let's get right to the problem.

Here, then what?

Speaker 4

Happened did it turn out to be a BAD?

Speaker 5

Rv what's wrong with THE?

Rv, well.

Speaker 11

Sir in addition to THE rv having many many issues that they said were not, issues this of the title is not in their, name so they did not sell a vehicle that belonged to.

Them AND i believe there's some broad involved.

Speaker 4

There wait a, Minute wait a, minute so hold, On so you don't have good title to this.

Speaker 5

VEHICLE i have.

Speaker 11

A title that is in the name Of Donovan Christopher.

Speaker 5

Anthony, okay who signed it over to?

Speaker 11

You This anthony or the sparky, Yanko and he's represented himself as if he was This Donovan Christopher.

Anthony.

Speaker 4

Okay so This Donovan Christopher, anthony who supposedly owns THE.

Speaker 5

Rv did you talk to?

Speaker 11

HIM i have called and tried to get in touch with, him and what?

Speaker 5

Happened?

Speaker 11

Maryland they they live In.

MARYLAND i haven't gotten in touch with them.

Yet but, well because he like this constitutes fraud and?

Speaker 5

Death, yes if in, Fact, well on your title right?

Speaker 4

Now whose signature is on?

There the title signing it over to?

Speaker 11

You Christopher.

Speaker 5

Anthony so it's Not.

Donovan Christopher's Christopher.

Speaker 9

Donovan the title of.

Speaker 11

The title says Owner Donovan Christopher.

Anthony so It's Christopher Anthony.

Speaker 5

Donovan, well what's the last.

Name just give me the guy's last name that owns THE.

Speaker 1

Rv.

Speaker 11

Donovan, okay got.

Speaker 5

It so It's, chris It's, christopher got?

Speaker 9

It?

Speaker 5

Now here's WHAT i here's the.

Speaker 4

Thing it's not unusual for people to get a signed title and to sell something and jump title and skip.

Title now it's not supposed to be done that.

Way but if he had a sign title and then he signed it over to.

Speaker 5

You he's allowed to do, THAT i, mean excuse.

Speaker 4

ME i shouldn't say.

That he's not supposed to do it that.

Way but at least in other, words it's not, stolen or we don't think it's.

Stolen so what do you?

Want you're trying to get a, refund but you can't get a hold of this guy, Right.

Speaker 11

WELL i can get a hold of.

HIM i have several texts and voice messages from him telling me to kick rock to.

Speaker 4

Kick, okay so you do have a working number for This Christopher.

Speaker 5

Donovan excuse, me not For, christopher but For.

Sparky, yes, okay So sparky, okay all, right, Okay sparky is the one that sold it to, you and it was.

Speaker 4

Owned by a guy in Back, Easton.

Maryland so WHAT i need to know is, this if the title was in good, Condition let's just say the title is really signed By Christopher donovan and you bought.

It are you trying to complain about the title or are you complaining about THE rv?

Speaker 5

Itself?

Motes, well because you may.

Not here's the.

Speaker 4

Problem you may not be able to do anything about THE rv.

Speaker 5

Itself THE rv itself is as?

Is most?

Likely did he sell it as?

Is you have a bill of sale that says as.

Speaker 11

Is absolutely not sor it says.

Life did he sell it?

Speaker 4

On did he sell it with a?

Warranty did he sell it with a?

Speaker 11

Warranty he told me that everything worked fine in.

Speaker 5

It, okay but that's not a.

Speaker 4

Warranty WHAT i need to get at is is how much is wrong with THE.

RV i want to take one thing at a.

Time we got two things going on.

Here we got the title and then we got THE rv itself and if you want to live in.

Speaker 5

It WHAT i want to know right?

Now are you driving it around right?

Now?

Speaker 11

No not at.

All, NO i can't do.

Speaker 5

That do.

That it doesn't, Drive it doesn't.

Move where is?

Speaker 1

It?

Speaker 11

Oh, well WHEN i tried to bring it from the place THAT i bought it In brighton To loveland Where i've been, Staying, yeah it was blacking several courts of transmission.

Fluid it was engine.

Speaker 5

Oil so it's not drivable right, now it's not.

Speaker 11

Drivable it is sitting BECAUSE i did not want to use it because of the things that that are wrong With.

Speaker 5

So where is?

It sitting right.

Speaker 4

NOW i just see to where where is it sitting right?

Speaker 11

Now at a friend of mine's?

Speaker 4

House, okay, good at least it's not at that storage.

Speaker 5

FACILITY i wanted to be sure of.

Speaker 4

That so it's at your friend's, House but you don't know what condition it's in right.

Now it's possible that you could still use it and live in.

It i'm just trying to figure out what to do right.

Speaker 11

Now the refrigerator doesn't, work the heater doesn't, work the air doesn't, work the.

Speaker 4

Dash Air, Katrina, katrina there's a very good possibility that we may not be able to do anything about.

That, Okay i'm GONNA i will.

Try we will try to.

Help what were you going to, Say?

Speaker 13

TOM i think that the first problem is probably the most important one That.

Katrina hang on a.

Second have you been able to title THIS?

Rv have you attempted to get a title transferred into your?

Speaker 1

Name you?

Speaker 15

Know?

Speaker 13

Tom if she attempts to do that and the title transfer is refused Because sparky didn't have authorization to sell THIS, rv then she might have recourse through the police.

Department she might be able to call The Brighton police and file a report that this dude sold me a STOLEN.

Speaker 5

Rv, right but, okay that's.

TRUE i think you'll get her.

Far but it's the first but it's it's one.

Step but here's the.

Thing this woman's out eight.

Grand how did you pay the eight?

Speaker 11

Grand part of it was in cash and part of it was through one of the.

Speaker 4

Apps then, okay so you can't get your money back because it's.

Gone so we have to try to make the best of this.

SITUATION i, MEAN i doubt that this sparky guy.

Speaker 5

Is going to come through and fix it for.

Speaker 4

YOU i, mean you know the fact that he claimed it's like buying a used.

Speaker 5

CAR i, mean it's a.

Speaker 4

PROBLEM i don't know if we can find even find This.

Sparky Is Sparky yanko a real?

Person but, okay, okay, Okay so do you want to try to call, him this sparky, Guy.

Speaker 13

Well i'll be happy to BUT i still think her best option is to find out if he called the previous.

Owner And i'll be happy to call the previous owner if she wants me to find out If sparky actually had legitimate title to THIS, rv and if, not then call the police because they you, know if they charge him with whatever felony he may have, committed then his first step would be trying to try to make the victim hole just to just to escape prosecution or at least get lenient.

Sentencing, oh, man, like we'll never Get sparky to Read we're not.

Speaker 5

Again we may not Get sparky to do.

Anything we'll never get SPARK i don't think that's the real.

PERSON i don't think that's his actual.

Speaker 11

Name it is his.

NAME i have looked him.

Speaker 5

Up oh, Really, okay, interesting.

Speaker 11

Yep and he is at a church In.

Speaker 13

Henderson i'd be happy to call to call him at work if that's where it comes down.

Speaker 14

To if you want to send us.

Speaker 13

His contact information and a copy of that title and, whatever can you do?

That can you email that over to us And i'll follow up.

Immediately in both sides of the, title, Please oh what state was the title?

In was it From virginia or was it A colorado?

Speaker 5

Title, no it was From.

Speaker 11

Colorado and the gentleman's address was a little to an.

Address, okay, yeah send.

Speaker 14

Us please send us a scan of both sides of the.

Speaker 13

Title whatever other paperwork you may have done with Mister sparky And sparky's contact, information including the church where he, works And i'll immediately follow up on.

Speaker 11

That, Okay i'll do that right.

Speaker 5

Now, okay all, right, Uh and we're gonna do what we can to help.

You but this is a this is a tough.

One this is really a tough.

Speaker 4

One THREE o three seven one three talks seven one three eight two five five.

Speaker 5

Speaker 4

Go with a sure Thing Denver's best Roofer Excel roofing dot.

Speaker 18

About five years, AGO i had the company that was on your referral.

Speaker 5

Name but let's See.

Brian, Brian let's See brian years.

Ago let's See brian advanced mud?

Jacking was that?

Speaker 14

It that's it.

Speaker 18

EXACTLY i had them out to mud jack my front.

Speaker 4

Steps, yeah he did a great.

JOB i think it Was Brian schlomer or something like.

That, Anyway, yeah is?

IT i don't even know is advanced still.

Speaker 18

Around i've tried to get a hold of them AND i.

Speaker 24

Can't.

Speaker 18

Huh JUST i, mean it goes through to the trail, message BUT i don't get a call.

Speaker 5

Back BUT i was looking it.

Up, okay, anyway tell me what's going.

Speaker 18

On he came out and did.

It everything was, Okay it wasn't.

Great then like two and a half years, later the steps started falling, again even after giving me a twenty five year warranty on.

Speaker 4

IT a twenty five year.

Warranty, yeah, okay how old is the?

GUY i mean a twenty five years twenty five year warranties are, ludicrous and fifty year warranties and all of.

THAT i, mean it's the warranty is the life of the.

Company but in any, case go, ahead you got a twenty five year.

Speaker 5

Warranty, yes did you?

Ever did you ever question?

Speaker 1

THAT i did.

Speaker 5

Not, okay go.

Speaker 18

Ahead the only thing you're guarantees a crack and it won't get.

Stolen SO i let it go with.

Speaker 9

That AND i called it back out like.

Speaker 18

Two and a half years later because it started sinking.

Again and he came out and.

Speaker 5

OKAY i did find.

It THEY i still.

There they have an active web.

Site, okay go, ahead keep.

Going i'm.

Listening go.

Speaker 18

Ahead, YEAH i call him back to come out and check it.

Out he came, out checked it, out and they called me and said that he could come back and repair.

It but it was going to cost three hundred and fifty dollars more for him to do.

Speaker 5

It and why would it cost three to Fifty by the.

Speaker 18

WAY i have no, idea that's just what he wanted to do.

It and WHEN i called back and, questioned you, know why is?

This you, know even the five year wards you would have covered.

Speaker 5

It but uh, okay so so, Okay so what about what did it cost the first?

Time?

Speaker 4

Uh six fifty, Okay and so he was going to charge you half of that to come back and fix.

It, yeah, Okay so what happened did you?

Say did you SAY i have a twenty five year?

Warranty?

Speaker 18

YEP i told, HIM i, Said i've got the wards he.

OWNED i, said what any and what.

Speaker 5

Say what did he?

Say left?

Speaker 18

Fifties so.

Speaker 5

Did you actually talk To?

Brian did you actually talk To?

Brian?

Speaker 18

Yeah, YEP i talked to him two different, times once in, person once on the.

Phone, yeah and, uh he's just three fifty is what it's going to cost for us to repair.

It and you, know LIKE i, said the jobs that they did prior to the steps were were brought up tonight's and.

Level but the patchwork looked like a five year old was silly play filled it.

Speaker 14

In it's.

Speaker 5

Terrible, well THEY i never knew them to do.

PATCHING i just knew them to do, lifting.

Speaker 4

And THEN i know people would have it lifted and have other people patch in any, Case so what where do we stand?

Speaker 5

Today did you ever have it done or?

Speaker 1

Not?

Speaker 18

No and that's WHAT i was calling now to see if you have another company other than.

Speaker 5

Him, well i'd like to find out.

First i'd like to call and find out why he is not honoring his.

Happy so he, SAYS i am on site for every job our crew performs to provide you with the highest level of, accountability AS i would like to earn your complete satisfaction.

Speaker 5

Anyway SO i think we should hold him to his.

Speaker 18

Word he, WAS i, mean like you, said very pleasant, gentleman.

Speaker 5

You, know But i'd like to know his.

Explanation i'd like to know his explanation about the.

Speaker 4

WARRANTY i don't have that warranty in front of, me SO i don't know what he.

SAYS i, mean honest to, GOD i don't have.

It do you actually have the?

Speaker 18

WARRANTY i would have to look at the, paperwork.

Speaker 4

Because to be honest with, You i'm going to be straight with, you, BRO i never remember him offering a fifty year warranty.

EVER i never so i'd have to see it to believe.

It now they do what they, do say one, satisfaction blah blah.

Blah But i've never seen a fifty year.

Warranty i'm not saying you're.

Lying i've just never seen it.

Speaker 5

Before so do you actually have a certificate that says a fifty year warranty or something on your invoice that says a fifty year?

Speaker 18

Warranty it's a twenty five year.

Speaker 5

Warranty, Oh i'm, Sorry i'm sorry twenty.

Five go, ahead and do YOU.

Speaker 18

Kachina, okay, good he's, online so let me JUST i, mean he's on on the.

Internet if she needs the, NUMBER i think though that she probably found.

It in any, case it's advanced mud.

Jacking AND i don't THINK i swear to, GOD i don't think we've ever had a complaint about him.

Speaker 5

Ever this would be the first.

Speaker 4

One and the complaint, is you, know he did the, job but now the, warranty so it's a warranty complaint after all these.
