It's a lot going on.

All right, Let's first talk about the game.

Yesterday, Cowboys lose to the Chargers thirty four seventeen.

Actually they found out on Saturday they were officially eliminated.

If there were any any real chance, I guess mathematically they weren't.

But Philly wins on Saturday, Cowboys officially eliminated, and then yesterday they to the Chargers thirty four to seventeen.

So we usually talk about story of the game.

I think the story is very clear of this game.

But I'd like to ask you guys, what was an interesting moment takeaway?

Because that's really what these final three games are about, in my opinion, is can you glean something from what you see that gives you something that you're gonna be looking at going into the offseason, or whether that be good or bad.

Maybe that's a player.

What stood out to you from yesterday's game.

We'll start with you, Brian.

Oh, you didn't want to start with vit because.

Now we're gonna flip it up because you're over here on my left.

That's cool, that's cool.

Uh, you know what, I'll tell you this.

What I found very very interesting is that, like the Cowboys offensively, that thing was rolling in the first half of that football game.

And you know, this is where when we were breaking down the Chargers and talking about how they were going to probably play you, the Chargers really didn't have an answer.

You know, good for Nashadi and the offensive line coaches running back to everybody.

They kind of had a really good game plan coming out and put as many points up as they did on the Chargers defense was very surprising.

But then you get to the second half of this game and it was clear that the Chargers did a really really good job of making those adjustments and we kind of laugh about that, like halftime adjustments.

How do they make halftime adjustments in twelve minutes?

Well, what they do is they play you differently?

If I could, just if you just bear with me for a little bit, Derek, the way that they just think about the way that the coverages that they played on you.

The first half, you're feasting on their cover three, they play cover three, they play cover six, they play cover one in the first period, in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, what do they do.

Jesse Minner plays cover four, he plays cover two, cover one and cover three, and the order that's of the most.

To the least.

So he's getting killed by Dak Prescott who then and the receivers, they're doing a great job, they're running the ball, they're having some success.

What is jesse Minner doing the second half?

Back he starts playing cover six, cover three, cover two.

Fourth quarter he plays cover two, cover four, cover six.

He made adjustments along the way, and if you look at how Dallas, all of a sudden they went from having that kind of success And this is the kind of the chess match that you play.

And me and Voch were talking about it this morning on our program that you know, man, you'd love to have the ability to go in and just completely shut somebody down that way and that and the Chargers did a really nice job of that.

You know, the Cowboys rolling right along, but all of a sudden, you get a coordinator it's like, okay, I'm gonna throw some coverages at you early, and then he goes away from him, and then he comes back to him, and then he kind of goes away and then comes back to him.

So he's kind of trying to find a little bit of a rhythm for that.

So, you know, tip of the cap to the Chargers in the way that they played defensively, because I felt like the Cowboys coming out of the gate were right where they needed to be.

Just in the second half they couldn't take advantage or get back to or make their own adjustments to what the Chargers were doing.

And this quick watch real quick for you, just to give you guys some numbers on that.

And the first half Cowboys put up two hundred and eleven total yards and seventeen points.

They had a touchdown field goal touchdown in the three possessions they had in their first half.

Now they had one at there at the end, but it was going into the half.

That being said, look at the second half, they had one hundred and twenty nine total yards zero points.

It was a clear difference between what they were able to do offensive again the first half versus the second.

Watch basically what Brian was saying, just you know, saying in the English or whatnot.

They tried a little bit of everything, yeah, and then they ran a bunch of zonn Then they tried some zone blitzing, then they tried some man and then they said, okay, we can't let deep stuff happen, so they play some some deep stuff and they stopped you from doing that, right, and then they continue to rush for or just Russia, Russia.

Normal amount of guys could be three, four or five and then they just play zone on it.

That's basically what.

Yeah, it was what You're absolutely right about that because you talk about just looking at and the eyeball test.

When we went watching our watching the tape this morning, you could see how they were playing it, you know with the zone, and the Chargers were a big zone team right off the jump, about eighty five percent zone.

They play seventy six percent zone in the in the in the first, they play eighty five in the second, and then they play one hundred percent in the third and the fourth, you know, and they kind of got the game in hand and got control and then they said, Okay, we're going to play We're going to rush for we're going to play zone, and we're gonna make you have to try and drive the ball on us.

And they did a really nice job with that.

I I I was so encouraged by what Dallas was doing too, and I think Dallas all year long has been capable.

But man, you see some of the things that happened in the red zone, the unfortunate you know, the fourth down play, we can get into that and you know that that that just that just give the Chargers credit for the way they played you right then, Derek.

I mean, you're in a situation where all of a sudden, you're in what they call that offset eye, whether you have a tailback and a full back and it's offset.

What did the Chargers do.

They saw that you had Turpin in the backfield as a running back, and what do they do.

They slanted their front to Hunter Lipke.

They slanted their front to the full back, thinking you're not gonna pitch the ball or hand the ball to Turping.

You're going to hand it here.

And they got to stop, you know, baskets beaten by Calwell.

Smith can't get down to make the block, you get a stop right there.

Those are the kinds of things that have been happening in the Dallas rely all year.

Good drives, it's penalties, it's blocking mistakes, it's things like that they keep you from winning football games.

There's been a lot of conversation about your offensive line going on.

Hey, man, I'm offensive line.

I come in here, talk about old line all day every day.

Man and Derek, I don't know if you was looking for something positive in that, but I'm gonna just take this, this moment of time that you've given me to talk to just flus the people on the internet.

Tyler Smith is one of the best offensive line in the league.

Man, Let's just go ahead and talk about it.

Yeah.

I think it's incredibly impressive that at the snap of your finger, drop of a dime, they say, hey, brother, can you go and play left tackle versus a dudes?

Some dudes?

You know what I'm saying quite frankly here, you know, Tuley and Mac there go play left tackle versus some dudes.

And for Tyler Smith to just jump up and be able to do it, that's fantastic on him.

But let me just say, there's a lot of people on the internet, and we even heard the head coach kind of talk about some things and allude to some things.

I don't know if this when you're second second, you good man, we can run day man.

Put Tyler Smith back in left guard, and let's just go on back to doing what we was doing.

Tyler Smith has built habits, and typically offensive line and old line coaches, we always talk about habits, doing one thing the same way over and over and over again.

I know there's a lot of people excited about Tyler Smith playing left tackle.

I just think that's because y'all down on guid and playing left tackle.

I don't want to make Tyler Smith worse on purpose, you know what.

I know what I'm saying.

I want Tyler Smith to be the best verge that he could possibly And what he does best is wrastle people in a phone booth.

Very athletic, very strong, very powerful.

He quick sets, he gets hands on you and you stop moving.

You saw Tyler Smith because he's very talented, so it looked like it worked a little bit.

But you saw Tyler Smith play tackle like a guard.

He was playing tackle with guard features and it worked a little bit, but you also saw some pressures kind of being given up.

You know, the edge player, whoever it may be, kind of get to Tyler's back hip a little bit.

So we had to turn fast on what he's normally used to turning his hands.

Inside, they have to be quicker.

Outside is more about timing, so you have patience and timing.

So you saw Tyler shoot for the hands a little sooner than normally he wouldn't be shooting his hands right.

So I just don't want people to say, oh, I've seen Tyler Smith play a good game at left tackle, and I've seen guiding play better games at left tacking west Talma Smith, I don't know.

I'm just we're just talking.

I don't want to mess up the continuity and move a whole bunch of spots.

I know I normally hate Kan, but that's only in context versus like better dudes.

I don't want to bring in a new left guard situation.

I like for the front of the pocket to be as top tier as it could possibly be, and as Smith, that's BB and that's Booker.

I don't want to then have to look for a new guard.

And then this this myth, this notion, this falsehood, this wizardry, that Guidon got to go play the other side.

He'll somehow be better at that, even though he's played a lot more reps in the NFL at left tackle than he's ever played at right tackle in college.

I know Derek probably wanted to be a small positive, but I'm fussing at people on the internet.

Man, we don't need to see a whole bunch change it offensive line.

Well, let me let me play devil's advocate here on now one.

What the devil say?

We don't listen, we don't, we don't give him no credence.

But but let me just play.

Let me just play the opposite side of this four if you're looking at it from the standpoint of what he did yesterday.

Or let's let's first say, when you say you don't want to see change all these changes, if they were in heading into a playoff.

Run, I agree with you.

Sure you're heading into an off sin.

You're playing some games to get you ready for an offseason to then prepare for next season.

And my thought is if they're doing this, they're doing this because they're thinking long term.

Now take that from the standpoint of how he played yesterday.

Okay, yeah, he may not have been great yesterday, but he was pretty good.

When I've seen him at left tackle in the NFL, he's been really good.

And if he has an entire offseason in order to prepare himself, which again in this game, he had very little time and reps in practice to prepare to play left tackle and played it against, as.

You said, some dudes and was pretty good.

My thought is, if there is any doubt that Geiden is going to be your left tackle of future, whether that be because you don't know if he's going to develop to the point where you want him to be, you don't trust him from the standpoint of injuries and health, whatever the case might be, is it a better option for you to get somebody who is a stalwart, a rock, a guy that you can consistent he played all season this year, hurt, a guy that you know is going to be there, Put him at left tackle, Let him be your left tackle, because I think we all agree it's easier to go out and find a guard than it is to find.

A tackle, especially a left tackle.

So if you can lock down that side and then you hope you hope that Guidon can adapt to maybe the right side.

Are you not better off in a scenario like that than going into the off season thinking I don't know what's going to happen at my right tackle position, and I don't know how much I trust my left tackle.

I hate it even more long term, like I hate it the worst long term.

If you're saying that we're just gonna do this for a for a couple of games, then fine, But long term, I never want to turn an all pro into a fringe pro bowler.

I never want.

He's one of the he is.

He's probably, like Win healthy, right, the best guard in the NFL.

Yes, he might come getting Booker, come getting book on his.

Way to Booker might be the best offensive lineman you've got book on.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying.

Book might be coming to get him.

Tyler Tyler, Tyler Smith, I do it all the time.

Tyler Smith went healthy, could be the best guard in the league.

I don't want to lose that for a top eight tackle, for a top nine or so tackle, I don't think.

But are you better?

Are you better as a team though, Like I hear what you're saying.

Sure from an individual standpoint, and I heard.

I was standing there when Tyler talked in the locker room last night, and he was like, you know, they were asking me, like what about this if this is gonna be a long term thing, and he said something really interesting.

He said, you know, I do what's bestial team, blah blah blah.

And then he said, you know, but I'm a smart player too, and so you know, I know what I'm being paid to do.

And so we'll have those conversations when they come.

I think Tyler's making it clear, like, Okay, if we're gonna talk about this, there's a lot of things that have to be considered, Like, am I'm the best, I'm one of the best, if not the best guard.

You're asking me to move to tackle?

What does that mean for my career?

What does that mean for my ability?

I'm gonna do what the team wants us to do to help the team.

But so I think I get it.

I think Tyler gets it, but still like it's just not better for the team.

I think where the I think where we disagree and not me and you, but like me and everybody, And I think I think people like Tyler Smith at left tackle more than I do.

I just I just kind of see some of the warts.

I see him loudly, and I just I look at nothing, but I study offensive line all day, so I just see his warts at left tackle.

Plus, I think people trust like TJ.

Bassmore than I do, or they trust the idea that you can go find a backup guard more than I do.

To where my trauma is.

Boy, we had to deal with Connor Williams and some other miscellaneous guards for a while, and we're finally powerful at both guards and center.

I don't want to mess up front of the packet.

Plus, you know, talking about what's what's best for the team, I think Dak will tell you.

As long as A and B gap straight, I can live with nonsense on the outside.

Dak's been playing please.

I was gonna say, isn't but isn't it easier to hide your weak link at guard than the hide a week link at tackle?

Because I think what we saw as a season went on this year, teams started taking advantage of the fact that they knew you were strong up the middle.

They start taking advantage of your of your your tackle.

I think that's because Shoddy has made the decision to leave those guys on the island.

For the most part, I think it's really harder when a guard is by themselves, because if you're a tackle, you can get tight end help, you can get running back Chip Hilp.

If you a guard and you and b gap with some dude and be gap, there's no combo guy because that dude got an edge in the center is when.

He roughly you roughly called him last night at about sixty five percent by himself went on average.

If you look at Geydon eighty steel, it's in the eighties, it's like it's like eighty five eighty eight percent.

So it's strange.

They helped Tyler Smith at left tackle more than they would help.

Still, but that's also because he's probably had less Again, he's had less time on task.

Sure, like the amount of time he.

Got to get ready to play left tackle against some dudes.

They were like, we're gonna have to help him out a little bit.

But it was still better than saying, let's roll out somebody else, whoever else they would have put out there.

I think your best lineup is with getting their left tackle and don't move to to an opposite side.

I would rather Tyler Guiden play left guard than right tackle, because play guard.

Because I asked, that's what That's what Nick said too.

I was like, can he play guard?

He was like, he's gonna get those those shorter guys will get under him and drive him.

But the sighted this is so difficult, Like changing sides is so difficult.

If you boxing one stance, all right, just flip your stance that while somebody's going on.

Not a lot of good boxes out there that can do that.

By the way, that's a hard thing.

That's not a lot of them.

That's not very rare and hard thing to do.

Switch up.

I think the bigger concern is really the health of Guidon.

That's the thing that it is about health.

I think this is I think that maybe they're thinking long term, that that we have a guy that might be through his first couple of years in the NFL, might be an injury risk.

And so if that's the case, then I can understand them moving Smith.

But me, I've seen I've seen good enough from guydon this year when he's been available.

Did I feel feel like he's fine, He's fine out there, and and to me, you know, Nate Thomas to be honest with you.

But if Nate Thomas is healthy, I'm playing him at right tackle.

And okay, if Dak's not gonna play.

If if Dak's playing, you know you probably need to keep everything the same.

But if if it's if we're going to see Joe Milton playing these games, these next two games, then by all means, let me see Nate Thomas at right tackle, just because I know my last view of him against Arizona wasn't very good, but maybe it'll help me have a little bit better understanding of the player.

Then.

But they could very well be making this move with Tyler Smith because they just don't trust the health of Guidon and quick that could be the issue.

Real quick with Guidon.

He has missed four different iterations of time, but a total of seven games over two years.

So it does start to I would think it starts.

It's got to be.

It's starting to kind of creep it to my mind, like man he does.

And again I don't.

I don't even love the term in prone because I think in NFL everybody's injury prone because in any given play you can get hurt.

Like that's the nature.

It's a violent game, that's a part of it.

But missing multiple games, right, But it's a guy.

Bill does get into your head like, man, he's missed a lot, and there've been and it's not just he had this one period where he missed seven games, or he had two periods where he missed four and three games.

It's been four different iterations where he's missed a total of seven games.

That has a way of your mind is saying, maybe we just can't trust he's gonna always.

Be He might not be available the rest of the year, is what they're telling you right now.

That's why it's Tyler Smith's playing over there at left guard too.

They it might be a situation.

They don't they saw what identity did in that Minnesota game, and they Nate Thomas, you know, he was banged up with the shoulder.

But maybe they're Nate Thomas is a rookie too.

I mean, you know, I think some of these offensive linemen, you've got to give them a little bit of an opportunity.

I feel like that they could develop under this coaching staff.

I feel like these offensive line coaches are pretty damn good.

Yeah you know that that that to me is not the concern that the concern is guidance, health and do I really want to move Smith.

I think I'm moved to watch on this one.

I don't want to move him.

I think I think he could be I think he's an all Pro guard and he's a almost Pro Bowl type tackle.

That's just but maybe with more time on task.

We've seen him do that.

He stepped in for Tyron Smith that one year and was good.

But I just think you're taking it out of his element, which he is one of the best in the league.

At one last thing, we can move on and take a break out promise.

I think this is only a conversation because people are thinking about using assets, right like, Hey, you know you're moving Smith over here?

How do you you can find a guard?

You can find of this and that?

Honestly, how I feel about how Dak handles tackles, how this offense can help tackles, and how bad the defense is.

I don't want to spend no money on offensive line.

I'm fine with guiding their left tackle.

If Terren still take a take a take a pay cut I've seen in this offense, still be fine.

What you look at me for I'm trying to see where you're going with this.

I've seen this offense still be a top five offense with Terren Steel at right tackle, with Nate Thomas playing tackle, with Tyler gut And playing tackle.

At the end of the day, I'd rather those dudes play tackle.

I know, because it's Cowboys, we hyper focus on Cowboys.

It looks terrible.

It's good teams with bad tackles all across the league.

I ain't putting no resource in the offensive line anyway.

So all this vice, can we find a guard in the third?

Do we spend a one on a tackle?

Do we how do we find man?

Once I will keep exactly what we have right now.

This is not an emergency.

Keith Smith at lefguard, spend everything on defense, money and picks.

That's how I'm gonna say this, and then we're gonna go to break.

I think there should be a little bit of credence and put into what happened with this offense as the season started to wear on.

I think we made there.

Maybe some some bias step from early in the season, we thought the offense was playing at an extremely high level.

If you look at it over the second half of the season, offense hasn't been as great as it was in the first half of the season, and I would I would.

I would say at least part of that is due to the fact that those tackles have really, really been a significant problem for the Cowboys.

We'll talk about that when coming.

Because I could spend twelve million dollars on a pass rush.

I want that thirty million cat up.

I ain't got time to spend or I'll spend twenty million on the rusher and maybe ten on the right tackle.

I want to send the whole thirty to get that one dude.

This I rate up there because I can't say because we're on the break.

I want to hit all the buttons on that contract, on CD contract.

I want to go in debt, sell the crib, sell the crib, and I want to get all the dudes on defense.

I can I know that Terror steel or look even if it ain't Tear steel erase Terror Steele, Nate Thomas at the right tackle, Damn haw kim I, Dannity at right tackle.

I don't care put one of them can't say a right tackle.

So that I can put every single thing into my dad defense man.

And it's your belief that if your defense is that great, if my defense is that good, I can deal with whatever you just come from the right tackle, because.

I know I got a top five offense.

Even when my our tackle has been bad all year, our tackle has been bad, and our past blocking situation has been bad all year, You've still been able to put points up.

I've seen what elite defenses do.

Man.

I was watching the Vikings player against the dag Joint.

I said, Man, the Giants would have put fifty points on this, but them people at the Vikings ain't gonna let that happen.

Man, it's this one.

Coach that might get fired.

They lost to some team that be real good at defense.

Boy, I was like, damn, boy, if they fire him and I get that dude and bring him up in here and I spend all the money on defense.

Look what the Patriots doing.

That what we thought about Abra flus Man.

I ain't never said that about No, damn Eba flues Man.

Look at what the Patriots depend up with all their money on defense, and look at what they doing.

Oh yeah, da, I agree with you.

From the standpoint I would go.

I would be like, I am remaking this defense in one offseason and whatever that takes, That's what I'm doing because I feel like I got too good offense not to give them the support the data.

I'm with you.

I'm with you until it comes to legitimly going and spending money.

And I hope the general manager in the front office I hope they I hope they do.

I'd love to be able to say Derek that you know what, they're gonna go in there and they're gonna they're gonna they're gonna go get some legitimate guys.

They're gonna go find an edge rusher, They're gonna go maybe find a corner.

I'd love for them to be able to work the draft on three days of the draft and sit here and talk about flexibility with those first two picks.

Yeah, they've already feel I don't.

I would not feel great coming in here and saying, oh, they're gonna take this guy and this guy, Well, how about some flexibility, you know, if if you go out and do what you're supposed to do.

And I'm not talking about sign your own, which they're very very good at, you know, I'm not talking about bottom fishing, well occasionally they'll be good at that.

I'm talking about legitimately go out and evaluate, lean on your pro guys, and go get you some guys.

Imagine if you could go into the draft and with those two first round pick, you really could say you have flexibility because literally, because you literally have already taken care of all your holes in free year.

There's no question.

And then maybe even the possibility of trading one of those picks and getting more picks, yeah, because you can, you could back I wouldn't be opposed to backing up our first first round pick, not the Green Bay one.

The one that's probably going to have the most value to you right now is your own pick, which is right now at fourteen, it's at thirteen.

Yeah, Minnesota winning last night kind of yeah, it puts you in a better.

Spot thirteen and twenty one.

If do some of that, you see, if you don't have flexibility, then you can't make that you're gonna well we got to stand here and pick you know why, because we didn't sign anybody in free agency, and we just tagged pickings.

And he's seen some success in the last year from that, Like he went and took a chance on a pickings.

He went out and gave up the picks to get Quinn Williams, I think, and he saw good results from it.

I think that may and bold him.

And let's not also forget there was a time, Brian, you were around here.

There was a time when Jerry used to be really aggressive in for you.

They don't yeah, people used to call him records like I remember that year, Brian.

You may know the year when they went out and got Anthony Henry Marco Rivera.

It was like they went out of the first day, the first day of free agency.

They were like, line them up, we're.

Getting this guy this twenty seven million dollars.

Jerry used to be that guy, so it's not like it's unheard of for him to do that.

I think over the years he had been he had taken so much criticism for that and it hadn't always worked out that Maybe I think he went the other way and he violently slung swung back the other way.

But but I wouldn't be shocked if this becomes a year he says, you know what, I'm going back to what I did before and let's see what happens.

This is.

This might be a response on me to say, but I believe it.

I think he hears the fan base.

I really do came is.

I think he really legitimately.

You now have so many different platforms where people have opportunities to talk and stuff, and you the fan base really really really gets involved, and I think that he's hearing what the fan base is saying about, you know, being a fan the thirty years and all that.

I think that really does affect him.

I think these is this is one of the things.

I think his age has something to do with it.

But I think the fans have, honestly this displeasure.

Yeah, it's not always show up in the ticket sales, but don't worry about that, because Jerry and then we're gonna make money.

You can say, oh, well, don't buy tickets and don't buy merch.

That's that's don't worry.

It's they get TV money.

That's where they that's where they pay everything off the TV money.

That that's not going to stop.

So But but the fans, the fans are, they're they're they're concerned, and I think that I think the front office, the ownership has heard the fan base and what they've said, and and I would not be surprised, like you said, Derek, of him taking a completely different approach.

If they don't take a completely different approach this time next year, you guys are going to be talking about this team in a way of like, well they they once again, they underachieved, They didn't do what they needed to do.

You know, I think there needs to be a big, big swing in it.

At and T Connecting Changes Everything.

Welcome back, final segment of the break Life in SWBC Mortgage Studios at the Star.

Okay, so let's talk about Matty Raflus.

He did this week.

They made the decision that they were going to move him to the booth for the benefits of being able to actually call excuse me, call the defense from up there, versus being on the sideline.

Was there any noticeable difference, not necessarily in the results because we saw the results the results of the results, Yeah, but did you see any different and maybe how it was being called, how the progression of how it's being called throughout the game.

It was kind of crazy because Zach Wolschuk and I were sitting there in the box.

I didn't know if you noticed on your end of the press box, we're down on the radio side.

It seemed like to me they were kind of struggling a little bit getting guys on and off the field.

It was a little bit of a maybe a little bit.

Of indecision from what was being set upstairs to what was going down to coach White Cotton or whoever was responsible for the substitution pattern.

But they were on and off a little bit, not with the same kind of zip that you normally have.

I was worried about some twelve men situations.

Honestly, was worried about burning some timeouts.

It just didn't seem as clean, a little bit clunky.

Maybe the first time out that was a problem, but they were having some problems saying Okay, we're gonna get and what the charges do to you is Chargers got into twelve different unusual looks.

Twelve unusual.

What I mean unusual looks is number sixty four reporting eligible.

Okay, they do that twelve times, you know, so you have to kind of be ready to be able to match those things.

But it was a little bit.

It wasn't as clean as maybe we've seen some in the past.

Flus did a lot different.

He made attempts, yeah he did.

It ain't worked, though, man, it ain't.

It ain't work.

And you know, I think I think sometimes I come in here and I'm so anti Flues that it takes away from like the players sometimes or whatever.

I think there were a handful of times in this game where Flus did put players in the right position.

Yes, sir, players didn't make a play.

Me and Brian talked about it earlier.

The big justin Herbert Run, I'd never seen Flues die some up so beautifully slant up front.

Kennan Murray runs over.

You get an anchor guy pulling the dude, and marriage just go right off the butt.

But Murray got to make the play there.

And then after justin Herbert Run, somebody got to run up and catch him and make tackles you know, Rebels having a hard time, but he's young.

You kind of expected, you know, your linebackers get get injured.

But you can say what you want to say about those guys in the first place.

I think I think Flues made a lot of attempts.

But at the end of the day, what what goes back to this is that Justin Herbert is the most sad quarterback in the NFL.

You ain't touch them.

You ain't touching you know what I'm saying.

So it all goes back to Flues and hey man, we we're gonna we're gonna talk about new coaches.

At at some point we talked about a lot of the break.

Boy, they gonna knock their ruin the rule out this year.

Boy, I hope, but uh it just ain't work out.

Can I say something positive though?

Yeah, go for it, hey man.

Pereon Winfrey was active.

Yeah, I saw that.

I saw that video.

He did a good video.

It was a nice little put together thank you.

You know, Perryon was a guy that me and Brian would watch in training camp, and there was a couple of characters in the chat that wasn't fooling with it when we were talking about it.

But he was a guy that was one of your best guys.

Like even when Osa was playing, it was like, hey man, Peyon's just making some more plays.

Him and Solomon Thomas are making more plays than your first team tackles or whatnot.

And Perryon finally got his opportunity yesterday.

And it could just be fresh legs and everybody else tired, but he was flying around.

He was flying around, he was coming off the football.

And one thing that I was really interested to see was like his technique and things right because coming out, you know, coming out of Oklahoma, he wasn't technique guy in the league.

For his first run with the Browns and all those teams, he wasn't technique guy.

He goes to the us f x L and he still kind of runs down the middle of people because he's good enough to just run down the mill of people.

But what I was really impressed to see with Winfrey last night or just this morning to watch a film was his hands are very active, very powerful in the middle, and when it's time to run sideline the sideline, he's giddy upping.

So I don't know how they're gonna keep perry On a part of this this you know group of guys or whatever, Like there's a lot of tackles in his group, but he gives you some you know, versatility where he can kind of play outside a little bit.

Or if you're gonna keep running these five man fronts, then maybe you'll have more more more room for more tackles moving forward next year.

Maybe the next guy, the next you know, coordinator would like to use some more looks.

But perry On definitely, uh, definitely impressed me.

And that's something I'm gonna do moving moving forward with you know, we're gonna come here on the break.

We can always talk about seedy lamb and pigs and all that, but I anticipate there's gonna be a bunch of young guys playing and just getting ready for a draft season.

Hey, I'll tell y'all what I thought about Phil Mouffa if he plays about Hey, Josh Butler is active this week, do we still need corner?

You know?

Does he change anything for you?

But perry On Winfrey is the guy this week that I will say how he how he affects draft and all this kind of stuff.

I don't think you need to be looking at tackle at all, Like even seventh round because you got a bunch of guys now that I feel like I can't play.

I will say this tomorrow.

I'd love for you guys to give us a quick breakdown on two young players that played a ton of snaps this last game, Revel and Shmark James.

Both of them played Smark James played more than any other linebacker this week.

And now part of that was because they lost over shown, but I would love to hear.

From one worry about with you with him with and you talk about the injuries and stuff like that, and it's unfortunate that that he couldn't get through the game, you know, playing that way.

But yeah, but real quick, before we end the show, I'd like to get an assessment on Diggs, who returned this week from his injury.

Sure, what what do you see from him?

What were your thoughts on his play?

Let me take this first off.

And I was pulling this up because I asked somebody in the organization.

There was a lot of questions.

I know Vatch was fussing with folks on Twitter this morning about the tackles and I was kind of wondering some things looking at the tape this morning about digs and the big question was was Diggs responsibility And Derek, you're in the locker room afterwards, Diggs is saying it's cover too, asking what happened on the play, He gets it's covered too, and they don't go he doesn't go into any more detail.

Well, talking to a couple of different people in the organization the touchdown play, yeah, it's the wheel route that you get.

And I was told that's his responsibility.

And what I was told was he's supposed to be the outside leverage when the motion comes across and sink sink in his spot if if nothing comes out in the flat.

He didn't adjust to the motion initially, so the defense was compromised when he didn't adjust to the motion.

So that's on him, and whether it's a somebody at Dallas Cowboys dot com, one of the great reporters we have here, a Jane Slater something.

Diggs is a guy that always tells everybody, I just don't feel comfortable playing cover too.

And they did talk about that with him lest yesterday and they did like, yeah.

He just does it, but you know, he's also got to be able to play man coverage.

And there was a couple of times where he was within three four yards of a guy and it's like no jam, no nothing.

He you know, maybe he's a little gunshy.

What happened to him?

Remember what happened in the Chicago game early in the year where he goes for the jam, he slips, he falls, and now it's a it's a big touchdown.

So his ability to play up on guys, he's got to redirect.

I mean, he's got to be able.

And there's a couple of times where routes were run across the field.

This was big for the Chargers.

They really did believe that they could bring a motion guy and then run the route across the field and make the Cowboys have to chase.

And they caught him a couple of different times doing that and we're able to make some place.

But Diggs has got to be If Diggs does not get his hands on guys, it is very difficult for him to have to cover playing man coverage.

But the cover two stuff clearly with mconkey, the will the wheel route, Uh, then that was that was on him.

He's got to play better technique.

He did and it compromised the defense.

I think he's lost a step yeah, which is interesting.

Jerry Jones last week when they was talking to him on the radio one oh five three, the fans, uh, it was like, hey, man, dig say he's healthy.

Shanty says he's healthy, Jerry Jones, you say that he's not healthy enough.

And Jerry basically said, well, he's healthy, but he's not healthy enough to make the plays that he makes right to go against scheme and make the plays.

Basically, how I interpret that.

You know, Diggs likes to gamble.

Sometimes if he should be looking at a receiver, he'll look at the quarterbacks.

Sometimes he'll peek in the backfield.

I don't think Diggs can do that anymore.

I don't.

I don't think.

Diggs has the ability anymore.

And it could be him trusting his own body or just whatever whatever.

I don't He looks a bit slower.

He seems to be a slower player.

And I don't think he could be a guy that can gamble anymore, or that can keep his eyes on the on the quarterback when he should be getting But.

Is he the same player if he doesn't do those things?

Because I think what has made him the player the best version of himself is the fact that he does take those chances, and because he can turn, even though he'll get beats, sometimes he can turn some of those into big plays, turnovers, returns, whatever the case might be.

Is he the same player without that?

This is the problem and yesterday and and I think it's not playing.

I think this is the issue.

I do.

I don't think he's completely I don't think his technique is very very good.

I don't think he has the foot quickness, and he's off balanced a lot, and when he has to turn, he catches himself kind of in between techniques.

It's like, oh am I supposed to, oh am, I, oh, I'm you know, he gets caught in that ability.

Do I plant?

Go, do I step?

Do I drive?

How do I?

You could watch him play yesterday and it's just really wasn't as clean.

We've seen him in the past have really clean footwork and be able to kind of get in and out of breaks and do what he needs to do.

Yesterday was a guy that was kind of like he was.

He was like a baseball pitcher that was normally pretty good throwing the fastball, but then he couldn't locate the fastball?

Is that?

And he was struggling trying to get back into that feeling of how he needed to play.

It was gonna be a tough game for him, but just because of the time he's been off, and he really hasn't been healthy the whole season.

Yeah, could a lot of that be because he's been off and and I'd expect that with time on taskill I I.

He's running out of days.

They're gonna make a decision, I mean about him and when they when the season's over.

It's just nice to see him play, but he's I don't think he's the same player.

I was hopeful that the time off would help him kind of heal up and be better.

He's still struggling with a little bit with his footwork and the way he's playing with the balance and how to turn plant drive, all those things that that that kind of pro been problems for him because he's not been completely healthy.

It showed up yesterday Roal fans.

Last thing, Brian, that you know, just a source that you may talk to in the do you think that those people would go to the Jones and be like, there's a lack of accountability here, like, hey, this was his job.

He's publicly saying this, This this, but in real life, he should be like, yeah, that's on me.

I probably should have done X y Z.

Do you think that the lack of accountability would play into whether he's here next.

Year or not.

I think that.

I don't want to put words in people's shops, But you're asking me a question, which is a fair one, assuming I think if I ask people, I think there's some people that would and this is just me, just the people I know.

I think there's some people that would probably say it's best for him to go get a fresh start, maybe us to get a fresh start as well.
