#317 - BoardWalk Closures, D23’s Big Parks Reveals & MORE! | September 2025 Disney News Update
Episode Transcript
So just to keep the show very relevant, I want to make sure that we catch all breaking news that's happening in the Disney space.
And I'm just going to start with a couple questions for Derek here real quick.
Derek, any hankering Monday nights for a swim late at night or anything like that?
No, any.
Do you have any spray paint hanging around your garage perhaps?
Don't ask me, because apparently only one person in this group has their scuba license and it ain't just.
For clarity, this is not you correct, just 100% clarity.
Correct.
And like I said in our group when that story broke, the biggest shocker of that whole story is that restaurant actually had $10,000 on him to.
Steal.
I've never I thought it was 20.
I heard 20.
Oh yeah, you heard.
How do you know can the whole?
Listen.
Can we agree that that person probably worked for them or he knew a lot of info about that place.
He knew where the cameras were.
He knew where the money was.
There's, there's, there's a lot going on, man.
Derek is right, Jeff is the only one that is scuba certified of this of this group.
And you know what?
If you look at the forehead, it's not Derek.
It could be Jeff.
I'm sending you all the picture of my my thing right now so you can right now.
Now that got weird.
Oh, that picture.
I already have that one.
Hey everybody, and welcome to this week's episode of The DVC Show.
I am your host, Paul Krieger, joined as always by my wife, who's on Facebook at the moment, Amy Krieger.
I went to see the picture Jeff was talking about.
Well.
I don't know, I sensed the wrong.
Group Now Jeff and Dan are going to be wondering why they're getting scuba diving pictures.
We've got the one, the only Oh, I'm going backwards here, John.
Scary big fat panda with us.
Welcome home everyone.
Senior Sales Associate for the DVC resale market, Derek de Boer.
Hey now everybody, happy Monday.
And guy that might be in jail next week, Jeff Haslam, love everybody.
I never know what's going to happen in these shows anymore.
Neither do any of you though.
So that's kind of fun.
How we all doing.
It's been a little bit.
We've been to Alaska since the last time we've talked.
Yeah.
That was great.
Had a good trip with our moms.
How are you all?
You guys are good.
Yeah, we all kind of matched in our shirts tonight.
So we all coordinated that, I feel like.
Well, some of you.
I didn't get, I didn't get that memo.
It's.
Because you were getting out of your.
Well, this week we are talking all things Disney and BBC News update for the month of September 2025.
It's been a little while since we've all been together to chat through some news and we've had kind of a lot of stuff happen between Destination D23, Predestination D23, and going to chat through kind of our thoughts on some of the stuff that has come out as a result of all of that.
Before we go any further, this and all of our content is always brought to you by our Key Holder Vacations family.
But rather than give you our normal plugs like I usually do, I want to highlight two big things that we have coming up on the horizon.
First is our DVC Fan Oktoberfest October 17th through the 19th.
Disney's Old Key Jeff Resort is going to be the home resort for this special event.
And we have finally officially confirmed that we are doing a fireworks dessert party that Saturday night as part of our Oktoberfest weekend.
And it took a little bit to kind of put that together, little back and forth.
But we have officially locked it in and tickets are now on sale.
So head to our DVC fan Facebook group or the DVC fan Patreon community.
Links to those tickets are in those and I will put it in the description of this video also.
And I believe we are limited to 100 people total.
And I had someone reach out to me earlier today and say, is it OK if I buy 8 tickets?
And I said, do you want to buy 100?
So it sounds like we're going to do pretty decent and pack this place up and have a lot of people join us.
So it'll be fun.
Yeah, I'm excited.
I always whenever I see people over in that special because it's that little special area.
That was me.
55 for in France yeah I always think wow, that would be so cool so that's cool and the desserts look really fun because we chose the IT was kind of like the around the world so little yeah so little things from World Showcase like sticky toffee pudding from, you know, the UK pavilion and some things from Japan and there was a German 1 so little.
School bred School bred from Norway.
There wasn't any school bred option.
That's another $75 per person.
But there was some cute, it was really cute.
There was there was a couple, you know, different ones from different pavilions.
So I thought that was really neat.
And then just to have, you know, that that area to watch the fireworks.
I've not actually watched that show like I should, like I've always been really far away and doing other things, so I want to actually pay attention to.
It focus and pay attention to the show.
So Oktoberfest, we're excited for another weekend to meet all of you, our fans and celebrate this amazing community with you.
So again, head in the description of this video if you want to purchase tickets to attend.
And we're excited to celebrate with you.
And you'll believe that we'll have some more behind the scenes footage from Oktoberfest, just like we did for Summerfest.
Speaking of Summerfest, if you watch that show, you heard us announce that we were planning something even bigger for next year.
And that is a group cruise.
And we are super, super excited to have finally nailed down the dates for that event.
Our key holder vacations cruise is going to be July 20th through the 24th, 2026.
And a little bit of a change from what we announced previously, we are setting sail on Utopia of the Seas with Royal Caribbean.
It is like, no, I think secret that Amy and I are kind of addicted to Royal Caribbean, but one of the main reasons that we really settled on this itinerary and the ship and Royal is the amount of stuff that we can really do on board with you, right?
Fan community, yeah.
We just have so much more flexibility and use of the spaces on board than Disney is able to provide to us.
And so this gives us more opportunities to do things like, you know, possibly a live audience recording of our podcast or you know, have a cocktail party.
So we're really excited.
We're we're digging into the specifics with Royal Caribbean right now, but we do have that date and we have blocked some staterooms out.
So we are getting ready to launch selling, you know, that cruise.
And honestly, the price is great.
We did compare it to Disney to the same cruise that we were looking at and.
We did.
I just today I was doing a price in comparison for someone just as we were kind of finalizing the details and it was a family of two adults and two children that was looking to sail on this.
And I think their total price came in just below $4000.
It was like 3800 or somewhere around there or like 4200 might have been just above 4000 actually.
And then I compared the exact same wish sailing to that, and it was $7800.
And so like, you can tell just right there how much money you're saving with Royal Caribbean.
And let me tell you, Utopia is a crazy ship.
It is, Jeff, you've been on it with us.
You had a great time, right?
Yeah, no, it's great.
And I, I'm with Paul and Amy.
I'm addicted to Royal Caribbean as well.
Not that there's anything wrong with Disney.
Disney cruises are perfectly fine.
They're great.
They're great for kids.
But there's too many rules.
No, I'm just kidding.
We don't.
But it just gives us a lot more flexibility and there's nothing about this ship that's disappointing in my opinion.
Like, yeah, yeah, it is.
Utopia is the newest Oasis class ship for Royal Caribbean sails out of Port Canaveral.
So very convenient the you know, the port that it sails out that makes it easier for most of you guys to get to it.
And then also just gorgeous.
We love the Aqua show, so we're excited.
Aqua 82.
Aqua 82 The fact is the.
Fact that these divers are on like 50 foot platforms and diving into a ship is just insane.
So everything about it is is it's crazy the entertainment level that that Royal Caribbean brings to the ocean.
A couple other small details about booking this specialty sailing with us, you're going to be eligible to get a free special swag bag from Key Holder Vacations.
So a lot of branded merch, whether it be DVC fan, whether it be DVC resale market, rental store, all of our companies as part of Key Holder Vacations.
Amy mentioned it.
We do plan to do our first ever live in person recording of the DVC show.
I'm going to be scared to death, but making sure that all the logistics work out for this and making sure that I don't forget anything because it's not like I can just run back home that's like 15 minutes away.
I'm going to have to make sure that I actually remember to bring all the crap that I need.
So that should be fun.
You guys can all Jeff.
Can always Jeff can always swim back for you home.
Yeah, he's.
Jeff.
He's shown what he can do with his school.
You all have seen how like amped up I get behind the scenes as I'm like setting up last minute before the show.
So you can only imagine what it'll be like on a cruise ship.
So that'll be fun to share with this community for the first time.
We are planning some.
We'll make sure that Paul has the drink package.
We're going to plant some additional key holder only gatherings and surprises throughout the ceiling for you.
And then we are in the works of trying to plan a pre cruise meet up at Walt Disney World also.
So a lot of things to be excited about.
It is a fortnight, it's a four night sailing and as Amy mentioned, heading out of Port Canaveral, it'll stop at perfect day at Coco Cay, which is Royal Caribbean's private island destination.
It'll stop at Nassau, Bahamas.
You'll just want to stay on the boat that day though, because that's going to be the day that we try to do some additional specialty events and then another sea day just to relax and kind of unwind and celebrate with this amazing community.
More details and all of the information that you're looking for is going to be on DVC Fan on the DVC Fan Facebook group.
If you are a member of the Key Holder Club, which is our new loyalty program, that information is going to be on there as well.
And tentatively we are looking to open up sales for this cruise at the end of September.
So the last couple days of September, the 1st of October, those are going to be the days that you are going to want to look out for.
Our DVC Fan Patreon community gets first dibs at Staterooms, then the Key Holder Club, our loyalty program, and then we will open this up to all eligible people that would like to sail with us.
So that was a lot.
I'm excited.
Yes, Derek.
Where you go just a second.
I just gotta say we joke about it a lot, but the amount of work that Paul and Amy have put into this thing and not only this thing, but Oktoberfest and everything else.
Like he he was on a cruise still awaiting word from Disney about the fireworks party.
Like, he couldn't even fully relax in Alaska because he still had paperworks to sign and all these kinds of things.
So I just want to present you with a trophy for doing all of your hard work.
What you got here.
He's not done painted yet.
But I have 3D.
Oh my God.
That I'll bring it to you here in the next couple of weeks.
It actually looks like Paul.
Yeah, I got a new 3D printer I've been playing.
Isn't it?
Thank you, Jack.
You printed that yourself.
I did.
Like you made a 3D.
3D Paul.
Wow, I did.
I'm excited to see 3D Amy.
Well.
Everybody's getting one.
I'll get one first.
Well, thank you, Jeff.
No, I appreciate.
That is amazing.
Wouldn't do all this stuff if I didn't love you guys, didn't love this community, so thank you.
And I just need to back up what he was going to say to two things.
First of all, of course, thank you, Paul, and thank you Amy for putting it together.
And also too, most importantly, for everybody out there, everybody out there listening, everybody out there watching, we wouldn't be able to do this stuff if it wasn't for all of you.
So, you know, if a, if a tree falls in the forest and no one cares, that's what we're allowed to do this stuff and come up with these crazy ideas is because of the response that you guys do and you guys have towards the DVC resale market, the DVC rental store.
You guys such an amazing community.
So again, thank you Paul for putting it all together and thank you for each and every one of you for being out there.
And my final parting thought was Jeff, nice try.
I saw that exact same figurine at Paddleship 2 weeks ago.
Well, it yeah, a testament to all of that.
It's just, you know, the the green light for this cruise was really given after the success of Summerfest this year and Oktoberfest.
We know it's just going to be as great of a weekend.
And big thank you to, you know, all the executives and stuff that work for our larger key holder vacations brands because they're the ones that makes make these decisions.
This cruise is not going to be cheap.
There is a lot of expense that's going to go into it to make sure that this entire crew gets on board that ship as well.
All of these events and you know that we are that we're going to plan to do on board.
So a lot of money going into this.
I know you're going to have to pay for a stateroom also, but you know, we are spending a lot of money to put this event on and it wouldn't be possible if they didn't see the return on all of it and, and, and see how amazing this community was.
So I'm excited, we're all excited and we've got a year to plan this thing.
So For more information, like I said, head to dvcfan.com, head to the Facebook group, head to the key holder vacations website, keyholdervacations.com.
There'll be a dedicated page for the cruise there and then we'll be sharing some more exciting details as we kind of firm up some of these other plans on board.
But it's going to be an amazing, amazing experience that you will not want to miss out on.
So there is your 10 minute plug for this week's show.
For those of you that just.
Have long.
How much I excited to see?
Derek out on a boat again.
He talks about going on cruises all the time, but I've.
Never.
How many years has it been Derek?
Oh my God, we're coming up on by the time this cruise happens, it's going to be like 9.
And I was thinking because I've been on over 100 Disney cruises, but the last time I was on a Royal Caribbean cruise, I swear to God it was the year 1985.
I was 13 years old, was the last Royal ship that I was.
That was the first ship they ever made, right?
I'm.
Sure did.
You have to pass on yourself.
Paul and I weren't even born yet.
It's now a restaurant at Disney Springs, the ship that he was on.
He's.
Been hiding in the basement of it.
Store is not still in their fleet.
But from everything I've seen, like I can't wait.
I'm finally ready to get back on a ship and I'm honestly even more excited because it's not a Disney ship so it's something brand new.
So I can't wait to be out there with y'all, including you, Jeff.
Well, people that hear that they don't want to get off the ship in NASA, we should give a disclaimer.
If you've ever been to Walmart, you've been to Nassau, so stay on board.
It makes for a great sea day.
It makes for a great day to enjoy the show.
I think one of the last times we were in NASA, Amy got off the ship to get her passport stamped.
I did.
She really wanted that.
And then it was like, Nah, I'm good.
Back on the ship.
Right back on the ship.
And I and I just got a text that our show will no longer be sponsored by the Nassau tourists.
So great job.
Great job.
All right, let's get into the news because I feel like people don't want to hear us ramble about a cruise this entire hour, although we could.
We may do a show about it though, coming up, so stay tuned for that.
I know we have a lot to talk about and Amy and I have a lot to share about Royal Caribbean, as does Jeff.
He's been on a lot of Royal Caribbean and cruise ships.
Yeah, we can teach Derek and Panda everything that there is to know about Royal Caribbean, so we might do that.
I'll.
Be meeting Derek at the Flow rider for sure.
Oh, that.
Oh yeah, that'll be that would be.
Great.
We'll have to sell tickets just to spectate that.
That'll.
That'll that'll pay for everything.
I don't even know what that is, but sure I'll.
Do it.
OK, so let's get into the news.
The biggest thing has happened since the last time we talked was Destination D 23.
Amy and I had the opportunity to head to Destination D 23 this year.
I was in steerage like Derek has sailed on all cruise ships in the past and was in had a general admission ticket.
So I was in the back of the the back of the room with our DVC fan contributor Carrie Crevel.
Big shout out to Carrie.
Could not have kind of covered this event without her.
She was like snapping away at pictures and getting pictures of things while I was writing articles while Amy was asleep at one point, I'm pretty sure.
But Amy, you had the opportunity to actually have a press badge for this event and kind of represent another.
Yeah.
It was great.
So I got to go as media for Beyond the Mouse podcast.
And if you've not heard of them, you should check them out.
Craig McFarland is one of the main people on Beyond the Mouse.
We've actually had him on our show.
We had like a DVC spotlight with him because he is a DVC member and we have been on their their podcast a couple of Times Now.
I think 3 and.
Two or three times.
I know Panda's been on the show.
Once I'm pretty sure.
More than that, like 3 times.
Like 3 times.
Yeah, yeah.
And so they are through like NPR Illinois, I believe, like community voices.
Yep, in the front row network.
Front Row Network and what's really cool about the broadcast, it is audio only, but they do interview a lot of really cool guests.
For example, they've had several like imagineers and you know, Disney legends and the day after we did our the second time with them, they interviewed Josh Gad.
So I'm just glad that we went first.
But they they do, they get some really cool stuff.
So big shout out to Craig and the Beyond the Mouth podcast because I got to go as a media for Destination D 23 and it was just a really cool experience to be there.
I got to do a cool little reception at Beacon Barrel, which was on opening day.
So got to try a lot of the things there and I'm really excited to go back that that lounge actually exceeded my expectations.
Just just really exciting, really fun food, amazing theming, just floor to ceiling.
You could spend, I feel like hours and hours in there just looking at the theming.
So really, really cool there.
That was actually one of the highlights.
But then I got to meet Jody Benson.
She came in and talked to the media people and I got to, you know, sit and just take part in the whole just destination D23 and just being there.
And for Paul and I, that was both of us, that was our first D23 events.
So it's a little different.
The Destination D 23 at Disney World, it's more like historic based and learning and and things like that than it is big announcements.
Whereas D23 in Anaheim is a little bit larger and it's a little bit more about those big announcements.
But that said, we got little, little announcements kind of peppered in there and it was just kind of a neat event to be at in the shopping.
You know, I, I can't not say anything about the shopping.
So Paul and I are both wearing things that we bought at the Destination D23 event.
There were a lot of money.
There were four really fun stores.
It was the whole thing was located at Coronado Springs.
And yeah, I, I had to restrain myself.
And if you're a pin collector, Oh my goodness.
There, there were people there that told me they were spending thousands on pins because there was just some very limited edition stuff.
So not my thing, but there was so much cool merchandise there.
So a lot of fun.
I'm super jealous of that hat, Paul, that.
This was a clearance hat.
It was like.
It was like a.
50% off like clearance hat so.
Sorry.
Hold on, I need to check my texts and said to see if you said, hey, Jeff, do you want one of these hats?
Yeah, no, that wasn't there.
I'd be barred from the event.
It would be a personal shopper for the future.
I did.
I did however get a new hat so really quick.
Before we move on, I want to shout out to Kim from our group.
Oh yes, this is great.
Oh yeah, I'm all set, that is.
You won't need, you won't need like a life vest for the cruise.
Now that'll keep you afloat.
Oh wait, there we go.
Now, oh, it lies.
Oh.
It's so cute.
Oh my God, that was.
One of the fans of the show, she was in town, she messaged me and said hey, if you're going to be around, I have a gift for you.
I heard you like Sorcerer Mickey, and very sweet of her so.
Very nice.
Next week on the Utopia.
Next week on Patreon.
Can you have like a video of you doing the opening of Fantasmic?
No no, no, save it for Utopia of the Seas.
You know where they dive.
He goes up on the 50 foot thing and starts doing like this with fireworks.
It'll be awesome.
Separate $10 paid event.
As Amy mentioned, D23, the big Expo, Anaheim, CA, that is every other year, that comes with a lot of big parks and resorts news and cruise line news and everything related to Disney.
There's a panel just dedicated to all of that and that's where we got a lot of big news and announcements last year.
I think people kind of went into this year, especially those since it's at Walt Disney World, those that we're looking for more updates here.
Really we're hoping for some more concrete news, some more details about some stuff here.
I would not say that they disappointed.
They, they definitely gave us some little pieces of information, but I think a lot of people kind of left it with kind of that mindset of, oh, we maybe expected a little bit more, but as, as, as Derek fell asleep during, during the presentation, it sounds like.
But overall, like the, the theme of Destination D23, as you mentioned, has always been more, you know, films oriented, animation oriented, really diving into the history of Disney or diving into the history of characters.
And so I think that this year's event really got back to the heart of what it was versus what we saw from like Destination D 23, maybe two years ago or even before that.
So it really got back to the heart of what this kind of event was made for.
It is a fan event.
It's really, you know, about the, the historical aspect.
I did get a lot, I felt on the movie front, you know, it, it obviously wasn't Parks related, but and and you guys at home didn't get to see all that because a lot of it were special previews and things that you weren't allowed to record.
But we did get some really cool like like sneak peeks and stuff of, of multiple upcoming movies.
So that was neat.
Yeah, really excited for Hoppers, which is the new Pixar.
It does look like it's gonna be great.
It's adorable.
Got some more Zootopia to information that came out during that weekend.
A lot of cool, a lot of cool movie updates and a lot of cool stuff.
There is a video up on the DVC fan YouTube channel where Amy did film what she could from kind of her experience over those couple of days.
And by the last day I got ridiculously sick.
And so we actually had to stay home and watch the presentations on a virtual presentation and we were planning on doing a live stream that day.
I'm pretty sure we were going to have Craig on.
Had to cancel all of that because I was sick and we were going to Alaska 2 days later.
So it was.
I believe Derek unfortunately, was ill too.
He's patient zero.
I'm pretty sure Derek.
Derek had.
Derek had the lovely vid, the COVID and then I got sick and then my mom recently tested positive for COVID.
So yeah, going around.
Thanks Derek.
Jeff.
Jeff, you never got Derek's fault.
Jeff, you understand?
Amy, my Amy's been sick for two weeks.
So I want to kind of do a speed round here through the announcements because we don't have a lot of them that came out of Destination D23 going to highlight all of the announcements.
And then I want to kind of go around the room, get everyone's thoughts on what they were maybe expecting coming out of this event and maybe what was one of the highlights of the announcements that that did come up over the course of the weekend.
First, one of the first ones announced was that Tron light cycle run was going to get a limited time overlay celebrating the upcoming film Tron Aries.
This actually has debuted as of a day ago or I guess four or five days ago as of the time of you seeing this show.
But it is going to be a limited time overlay that features these wonderful red lights throughout the ride, which is kind of the theme to the Neutron movie.
And it also so has a new soundtrack to the ride by 9 Inch Nails who does a lot of the music for the new Tron movie.
Also this for me personally, just to get my thoughts out of the way, I feel like I was most excited about this.
I don't know why, but like it's these simple overlays that you know they can do because you know that these lights are like Hue lights and you know that it's a soundtrack.
It goes back to like when when I think, I don't know if it was your random questions or Jeff random questions when we were asked like what song would you put on Cosmic Rewind?
You know how easy it would be to change the music on that ride or change something subtly to make these rides special for a limited period of time.
So I don't know.
I I was ridiculously excited about this for some reason or another, and maybe it's just me, but this is limited time.
They don't have an end date associated with it.
I would imagine maybe it'll run up to the holiday season, maybe into the end of the year, but no exact end date announced for that.
I think the thing that drew both Simone's a lot of concerned faces, but is also something that needed the most love was the fact that Carousel of Progress is going to receive its first update in over 30 years.
And this update will also include a brand new opening scene featuring an audio animatronic figure of Walt Disney himself.
And it's going to honor essentially the original version of this attraction.
The Imagineers did note during the presentation that the family story will evolve, but the heart of the show will remain intact.
So hopefully some of the futuristic technology actually moves forward into the future a little bit further as a result of the update.
People are already very concerned about the Walt Disney animatronic.
There's been talks that maybe they're going to do something a little bit different with this one as compared to what they did out in Anaheim.
We shall wait and see.
Next biggest news, There was a huge presentation dedicated to the villains of Disney and we expected a lot of news on villains land as a result.
And we got some minor updates.
For most people, this is very like small details were announced, kind of what inspiration they were drawing from.
But Amy, you and I were kind of.
This is what I was most excited about, even if it was not a lot of information.
Yeah, because basically what they announced was kind of where they were drawing inspiration for the land, and that is based off of research trips to Paris and Barcelona.
And they're kind of drawing inspiration from the Art Nouveau and Modernism architecture.
And they're creating a new type of architecture that they're called calling conjured architecture, which they say is a style blending fantasy and history with bold jewel tone aesthetics.
We were in Barcelona last year and we fell in love with a lot of this architecture.
Yeah, I do think, you know, obviously I think a lot of people are hoping for, you know, what's the right, what are the rides going to be, what's going to be I.
Know they're going to open.
Open I think we're a long way off from that.
I don't think they know those things yet, but at least we're we're getting something.
Not to be an apologist here, but I am really excited just to think like what this land could look like.
I'm not even a villains person, but my goodness, I love that architecture in Barcelona.
You know, the, the Galdi type architecture, the, the like the Gothic quarter area and thinking of Sagrada Familia.
It is also very beautiful and it, it fits, it really fits the, the thought there.
So that's probably what I was most excited about, even if it wasn't, you know, a whole lot of information.
But yeah.
Next up and last that I'm just going to cover of kind of these what we would call the key larger announcements.
There were some small announcements peppered in throughout the weekend, but they kind of closed with this one.
I maybe have lost touch a little bit with the community and understanding how angered they were previously with the Cinderella Castle color scheme because it did not bother me as much as I guess it bothered a lot of other people because everyone is very, very excited to hear that the classic original color scheme is coming back to Cinderella Castle.
They are going to give it a fresh look with soft greys, creams, Blues, elegant touches of gold.
They've done a lot of extensive research, they say, and they're going to take the care to bring this castle back to its original look and feel.
It was always beautiful.
I didn't mind what it looked.
Like I like the 50th look.
I guess maybe they just want to kind of pull away from the 50th, but I don't know.
I like the the the community you all, you were much more excited about this than I was.
But again, I'm not maybe attached to something.
I've I've always said I'm not someone that grows attachment to something.
So when they say they're going to take away this and give us this new thing, I'm kind of like, that's fine.
This has run its course.
Say goodbye.
Let's get the new shiny thing.
But I I was not emotional when they painted the castle.
I guess unless they decided they were going to paint it back into a 25th anniversary cake.
Maybe I would have a comment or two about that.
But Panda.
That's, that's that's when it helps to be colorblind like me because I just don't care.
So I didn't even know what the difference in what the castle was for the 50th 1st, what it's going back to, because my colorblind is really, I can't see any difference.
So when you showed that picture, I'm like, oh, OK.
Like, yeah.
It's a lighter shade of grey.
I just got two things.
I am I am really happy about the castle I do.
I did like the little light pink, but I like the classic white and blue with the gold tones.
I even think the projections will probably show better when it's white and not that light pink.
Something I thought I was going to be upset with was the Walt in Carousel Progress, but I'm not.
I think it fits so good.
You know, the opening scene, we see a gear.
There's obviously a little space back there.
They're not taking away from it.
They're not removing a scene.
They're adding a scene.
All I hope and pray for is that they fix his face.
I know they can.
With a little bit of money, a little bit of more revisions.
I'm hoping we get that.
I'll be so happy for that.
And I think what better place to keep Walt than Carousel of Progress?
And it means to me we're not getting rid of Carousel of Progress.
Yeah, but it let it evolve.
Let's update it.
But let's keep it.
That's that's beautiful.
I read somewhere over the course of the past week that there were some recent new permits filed that were related to some new projection mapping and AI based technology in which they might be utilizing something of that sort to try to get the Walt look a little bit better.
That's cool.
It also worries me that like one day Walt's face is going to have the Windows error screen over top of it.
Like like runaway railway.
Exactly that.
Like I, I'm a bit, I'm a bit worried about that, but you know, anything is, is better.
And, and you know, we've heard through the Grapevine what the issues with, with the animatronic over in, in California was.
I mean, it was budget related more than anything.
And I wouldn't be surprised if we see him pull it in a year or so and say, OK, we're going to fix it and make it better.
Because a lot of, you know, that that is something to be a little bit upset about.
And that is where the concern I think for the broader community comes from is like, OK, it is Walt Disney.
Like you got to do this of all things you do.
There shouldn't be a budget and you got to do this right, so.
Apparently apparently time was a big thing too to get it ready for the anniversary.
So let's hope the Carousel of Progress 1 is better.
Yeah, take take 10 years and prioritize villains land.
That's fine by me.
I don't know.
Jeff, give us your thoughts on some of these announcements.
I'm most excited, honestly, for the Carousel of Progress.
Progress.
Just to echo what what Panda said, You know, it's we'd heard rumors that there's problems with the motors and that it was on the chopping block.
And the fact that they're going to invest some money into it, I think is great.
I'm I'm a fan of that.
As far as everything else.
Come on.
Like I can do the same Tron overlay with my hue lights in my loft.
Like yeah.
And I don't the castle.
I'm with Derek.
I'm not color blind, but I was never attached to one color or the next.
So yeah, I'm fine.
I'll go, I'll go.
But I'm not.
I'm not super about.
It new popcorn bucket.
Yeah, exactly.
We got some new popcorn.
I've heard anybody.
So the Tron thing started a couple days ago.
Have we even heard anybody talking about it yet?
What?
Are they going to?
Talk about there is some video.
I mean, no, no, no, hold on, hold on.
Come on.
Listen, I I watched a video on it.
Inside has changed a little bit too, and there's good voice over.
It was better than I thought it was going to be.
The one, the one big thing you could do to Tron that would be just a huge addition to the ride would be to have you blow through, blow through kind of the the Q loading area and do a second lap, like have it somehow somehow take off on a second lap through that area.
I don't know if logistically it's built that you could do that.
It's probably not.
I don't know.
But like, like to, to add that to a layer of this like to surprise you.
Granted, wait times would go through the roof.
Yeah, they already are.
But but yeah, that'd be so cool.
Because it does.
It is.
It's only about a minute, minute and three seconds something.
It is.
But then when you look at the time of other things, it's this, you know, rock and roller coaster is that long or less.
I.
Have another idea?
It's over like.
Yeah, call it Nort and do it backwards north.
I.
Shouldn't have laughed at that comment.
Nort for backwards Tron.
Not have laughed at that nearly as much as I did.
All right, Derek, give us your thoughts.
He's embarrassed that he laughed.
No.
I'm with and I'm with Jeff, like when you started off and Paul and you said, Oh my God.
The thing I was really surprisingly excited about was like I said, I mean they changed a light bulb.
So I mean it went from blue and it went to red and they're adding a nine inch snails, which which sounds super cool.
Like hey guys, we're adding 9 Inch Nails soundtrack to it.
What 9 Inch Nails song is 37 seconds long?
Because that's how long that run.
It's not like you're going to be able to sit and, you know, listen and really kind of get into it.
The ride is fun, but I think you nailed it, Paul.
Like, why not do something to really surprise people and extend it, you know?
And yeah, it's, it's super cool.
The Carousel of Progress is is neat to have it because I always hope that rides like that are still there because I do enjoy being at my elderly age to say, Hey, you know what, let's go sit and let's go sit and watch that old man in a bathtub again.
Let's just do that.
So to to watch that.
I can't tell he's being serious or not.
I no, I I probably love that.
Dead serious.
That's the scary part I.
Really.
Do do we think at least change the one scene in there that's really, really uncomfortable?
The one where the the teenage daughter's changing and she's like, Dad, I'm, I'm not dressed.
He's like, who cares?
It's the neighbors.
We would hope so.
What in the actual?
I haven't seen it in so long.
With everything else they've changed, I would imagine.
When did?
When did?
Jeff and Derek escape the balcony.
And and, and Amy, I agree that it's neat.
I think everybody was having hopes that they would give something about villains land, but I'm trying real hard to get excited when they're like, and this is what we think a railing might look like.
That's all they said was that we could do a window sill like this.
What do y'all think about?
All right, Fiat 2.3, Thanks everybody for coming.
Like bye, bye.
Like what?
Like, yeah, it sounds cool, but come on.
They they could have given something, you know, they couldn't give some kind of meat to this something.
Yes, the overnights are neat, but yeah, I don't know.
They didn't even show the they know yet.
They didn't even show the original concept art as a part of this.
Because it's probably not even close.
It was gone.
Look at that.
And all we got was this kind of stuff, which was like pictures of villains with pictures of Sagrada Familia or.
That's the Gowdy Yeah building right there.
Other Gowdy buildings which again like love this artwork and this will be very cool if if this becomes what it is but like this picture in the lower.
That's the.
Lower left here.
I'm pretty sure I took that.
I know.
It looks just like just.
Like one that I have on my.
Phone.
From from earlier when we were there last year, so but.
Was was there any meat and potatoes on Encanto or Indiana?
No, they didn't mention the tropical Americas at all, no.
That's weird because that.
Or Monsters or Monsters Inc.
They didn't mention those at all.
Because that's established.
They're building that already.
You would think they'd give some.
But you've got you've got the big D 23 next year, so they probably want to keep the big announcements for that.
So you know, I kind of kind of get it.
I was hoping for work.
So when they to.
Me, that whole Valent villains announcement to me made it feel like, listen, we, we haven't really figured out what we're doing with villains land because we're too busy visiting other countries to get inspired by what villains land is going to look like.
So we're too busy traveling to really come up with a thing.
It, it does blow my mind in this day of age how much they travel to some of these places.
Maybe I don't fully understand the creative process, but in in today, when you have virtual reality, when you have enough everything that has been photographed and videotaped 75,000,000 times, I'm not entirely sure what the trip does.
There there was.
This is on a different topic, but similar They they announced the castle during there was a beyond the Spires.
So it was a panel about the castles and things like that.
And it felt like there was this build up where they were talking about the overlays on the castle and they talked about the, you know, show pictures of the 25th anniversary when it turned into a cake.
And then they did this whole spiel when they told the paper to with.
We thought we were going to get the Stitch Castle.
Again with Stitch and even Stitch came out and no.
And remember, we were like, they're going to announce that they're going to put the green lights back up.
That's what we thought.
Because it was like that was the build up of like, Oh my goodness, like that.
That isn't even like a huge thing.
I don't feel like, I know it's work, but it's not huge.
But like, that could have been something.
It would have gotten more of a reaction.
Out of me gotten a big reaction.
I think people would have been really excited about it.
I think people would book a trip to Disney that might not have been going just to see them.
100% hundred.
Percent And I thought that would be so like something that would be low.
I mean like yes it cost money to do but compared to everything else they put the dream lights back.
On got to be cheaper than painting.
And then they talked about the painting, the castle, and I was just like, oh, just really thought those dream lights were coming back.
So.
And for those of you who don't know, the dream lights are when the castle used to have the beautiful like icicle lights all over them.
It was gorgeous.
And now they've replaced it with projections instead.
Because because Disney listened to our guests and what our guests told us was this thing that you love so much, we're going to take it away.
We're going to take it away from you.
Maybe the new paint job is a precursor?
That is true, they haven't done the dream life since the castle was blue.
And this is my 1 so maybe.
Trying to be optimistic tonight, Yeah, trying to trying to find.
Positive.
Yeah.
So even if it's not this year, Disney, you still got, you still put them up next year.
I celebrate Christmas every year.
So we're going to pivot into some of the news kind of go around the horn again here in a second after I I kind of highlight a couple of these things things.
What was very weird this year was you knew that destination D 23 was on the horizon.
We were about a week and a half out from it and all of a sudden there's this big travel agent event and Walt Disney World goes, we're going to announce a bunch of other stuff right now.
And you're just kind of like, well, these would have been cool announcements of destination D 23.
So now I'm even more scared that that's either going to be a nothing burger or I'm really excited that a lot of big stuff is going to be announced at that.
So, and, and just a disclaimer real quick, I love you all because I love how real we are in this show.
Because I, I have watched people on videos get so excited about all these announcements we just walked through and act like they are the best thing since sliced bread.
And I don't know how they do it.
I don't know how what they, they live with themselves on a daily basis being that excited over, over some of this stuff.
And I, I love that we're able to be real human beings and have real conversations about all of this.
So.
Which is why we don't get invited to the events.
This is true.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Amy's.
They they probably saw that Amy made it into press and they were like, who let her in here?
That's the end of that.
So the week prior to week or so prior to Destination D 23, we did get some cool announcements.
One was the fact that we are getting something that I think most of us have asked why we haven't gotten for the past 10 years.
And that is the fact that we are going to get the Rainbow Caverns added to Big Thunder Mountain Railway.
A big thing from this announcement that came out after the fact that a lot of people are a little concerned about.
So the Rainbow, if you've ever done Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, railroad, we'll see some of these projection effects, some of these cool added layered effects that that really give the story more meaning and give the ride a little bit more fun.
That being said, there is a big climate climactic moment in which you are kind of going through, and it's the dynamite scene.
And there's a big question mark around that scene as to whether or not we are actually getting that here in Walt Disney World, Which I don't quite understand because it was only mentioning the Rainbow Caverns and there was nothing talking about that scene.
But hey, we're getting Rainbow Caverns, so you're going to get to go uphill, do all this colorful stuff.
Well, Derek, it'll just look like great.
I am.
Totally expecting the.
Explosion scene, as are we all panda but you.
Know we'll we'll see what happens derricks like I will I will write.
I.
Will write a nastily worded letter if we don't get like, look at that black bubbling water.
I don't know what that is, by the way, Paul.
I don't know if I'm in the.
Halloween mode.
But if you put that picture back for some reason, I was like, why is there a caretaker with a top hat sitting in the front like that?
And I just realized how stupid I am it I kind of see what you're talking about.
I do kind.
Of see it?
Oh, I thought so too.
Right.
It's like a it's a Haunted Mansion.
Thing.
OK, good.
I'm not moving on to the next big announcement.
Which was again just some more concept art, but we did kind of get a couple more pieces of clarity as to what is happened happening with rock and roller coaster, which is going to rain Rock star coaster starring the.
Muppets.
So first, we did see that tie dye panda.
That's tie dye.
We're going to get, we're going to get a lot of.
Rainbow stuff, I don't know.
Some cool new elements added to.
The guitar outside.
Glad they're keeping the guitar.
Me too.
Yeah, me too.
So.
The.
Storyline.
Really focuses.
On the iconic Electric Mayhem band, a lot of people kind of wondered like what the what the overall storyline of this ride is going to be.
So essentially, the Electric Mayhem is set to perform the biggest concert of their careers.
But there's one small issue.
The band has disappeared.
Meanwhile, over at G Force Records, guests are treated to a backstage VIP tour.
Inside, they'll find a recording studio.
It's been transformed into a vibrant, muppetized space.
So they're keeping kind of that recording studio feel.
There are some Penguins that definitely look like they're going to be coming over from Muppet Vision.
So hopefully some of those same puppet animatronics are going to be coming coming over and being a part of this.
And yeah, that was that was about it.
Two pieces of concept art, a little bit information about what this ride looks like.
No exact date or timeline.
We just know 2026, which means that they're not going to have a lot of time to do a lot of changes to this ride.
So more more to come soon, I guess on what that is going to look like.
And the last piece of information that came out of this kind of news blitz that happened before D23 was that Zootopia Better Zoogether is opening on November 7th.
But yeah, that's the tree of life.
Yep, and this is the new tree of life.
Show that replaces the tough to be a bug show that used to be inside the Tree of Life.
There's a lot of details here that I'm not going to bore you with.
We now have a slick talking wolf named Heidi Howler that is going to be a part of this.
Heidi Howard, I believe, is kind of the person that will be leading us on our journey.
Also part of this announcement, Nick Hops and Nick Hops, Yeah, geez, I just reversed their names.
Judy Hops and Nick Wilde are going to be doing some meet and greets right outside the Tree of Life area here.
But, and I think they told us that we were going to get some fun glasses that were going to new, new glasses that replace the bumblebee glasses that are going to be a part of this.
Jeff, what are you excited about?
I actually love Zootopia.
It's one of my favorite.
Movies, I just watched it again the other day.
So that one, I think it's going to be interesting how they fit that into the Tree of Life story, because it's tough to be a bug.
You know, you were going into the anthill and being shrunken down to Ant size and that was the thing.
So I don't know how they're going to pull that off, but I am excited about that.
The animatronic of the guy out front, the leopard cougar thingy, the police guy, I think looks amazing.
I think it's going to be fun.
I'm excited for that one a lot.
Muppets.
I'm cautiously optimistic.
I like you guys said, I love that they kept the guitar and then they're keeping kind of the general theme of it.
They have to go in and do more than just put up new cardboard, though.
Like Universal has already set that bar so high with their dark rides that it just can't be more of the same.
So we'll see how that shaped out.
As far as Big Thunder goes, I love that ride.
I don't care if there there was no lights, like whatever it's it's a great ride.
So the fact that they're throwing some rainbows in there and maybe maybe not on the dynamite scene.
Yeah, OK, whatever.
I'm it'll just be nice to ride it.
Again after it, yeah.
And they're replacing the track, so.
Maybe I won't need to go to the chiropractor after every ride anymore, so that's good.
Maybe you think that's a herky jerky.
Big.
Thunder.
Oh yes, I do.
It's not at all and.
I'm not the only one because they.
Replaced the whole track.
I don't think it is either Derek, but.
Derek, anything catch your eye out of these announcements?
I'm excited about all of it.
I am I.
Mean, I, I know it's not, you know, details on a whole new land or whatnot, but I'm super excited about replacing Aerosmith.
Like anyone that's like, oh, I'm going to miss Aerosmith.
Like, come on, no, you're not.
You're not going to miss it.
You're not going to miss the scene, the racing through LA, all, you know, on drugs, going to try to get to the gig on time, all of that.
It was so outdated and need to be replaced.
So I think it's awesome.
So I think it's going to be fun.
It's going to add that.
I think Jeff is 100% right.
If I go through and everybody sees those same street signs, the same cardboard street signs that you think the Hollywood sign.
Don't do that and you can make that pre.
Show so great because the pre show right now honestly it's terrible it was cool at the time what it was but my God yeah replace it with The Muppets make it fun.
I'm all about changing that ride I think it's great I love Zootopia like Jeff said I think it's such a great great movie it'll be fun to be able to to see that one too as well and big Thunder.
I love that ride, so I I miss it because that ride is one of the rare ones that I feel is worth the wait at least like maybe 45 minutes.
I mean, I wouldn't wait more than that for it, but I feel like that ride is so great that I'm so excited to have that ride back, whether it comes with Bubbling Caverns or like Panda said, the Hatbox guy at the top of the lift, who knows what's going to be there, but yeah, I think it's going to be great.
I love all of these.
I'm excited.
Panda, what excites you?
Listen what Jeff and Derek just said.
It was like I was speaking.
So yeah, the claw Hauser animatronic.
I'm excited about that.
Muppets.
Yes, stop with the cardboard.
Put the, you know, Statler and Waldorf in the balcony up on the wall somewhere.
Let me see them talking as I'm going the the chef with the cannon, put him somewhere.
Give me some animatronic as I'm going give me an animal on a drum.
Just, you know, something not cardboard, but yeah, it's I agree exactly with what they just said.
I do want the explosion scene just because I thought it was really cool, but I love Thunder Mountain.
I can't wait.
Ditto.
Lady of little word.
I mean, I do.
I do feel the.
Same way, you know, I, I actually miss tough to be a bug a little bit, but when's the last time we went in there?
So I can't really say that I miss it that much because I hadn't gone in there in probably years.
So excited to have something new, something updated.
And also, I'm not the biggest Muppet fan, but I was getting kind of, you know, felt like what Derek said, that rock and roller coaster was starting to feel really outdated.
You know, like like the the Hollywood sign and stuff.
It's all that like neon, you know, black, like glowy, like that just feels, I'm really hoping that they really changed it up in there.
I my hope is that we we don't recognize it.
You know what I mean?
Obviously the track is not going to change, so really change those visuals up for us.
But yeah, that's, I love Big Thunder.
I was so sad.
I thought I forgot it was closed during the Halloween party.
I was going to go ride it by myself and it was really sad.
Walked over there.
I can't walk over there.
Well, a couple other.
Go ahead, go ahead.
You sure?
Yeah.
I'm moving on.
It's just some rambling rambling Muppet thought.
That I had we OK, that's what people TuneIn for.
Can those can those cause?
Panda mentioned, you know, the 2 old guys that are on the balcony, are they in that same Muppet world per SE?
So could they be with everybody else?
Like, because the thought of them not using them, like after you finish your ride and pull in and having them make like, you know, cranky jokes about oh, look at all these people look how sick that guy looks or like whatever it is.
Or use them.
Yeah, exactly.
Yeah.
Oh.
My God, that is such.
A no brainer.
There's so many great characters that you could make that whole area so much fun.
So don't make it in a in a back alley with the chain link fence, you know, make it cool and filled with Muppets.
So yeah, Yep, thank you.
And it it is.
It is part of that.
It is part of that world.
They've watched the Mayhem Band perform in The Muppet Show, which is actually getting a reboot.
Did you hear that The Muppet Show is getting rebooted?
Oh, I did not hear that.
Really exciting future for The Muppets.
Seth Rogen doing something very.
Classic, I hear.
Cool.
OK, speaking.
Stop.
Stop trying to.
Recreate now.
Did you guys know that Guardians was supposed?
To have a big animatronic of that alien dude that eats the planet and when.
I never knew that until this week.
That's what you were supposed to be going around.
Instead of the projection earth and moon.
There was supposed to be a big Yeti sized dude in there.
We got raw so.
Yeah, we got.
We got mugged as you.
How did you?
Learn that I read it.
On a thing somewhere on the.
Interwebs.
Then it's.
Got to be so right, we're supposed.
To get Rocket and Groot, two were supposed to.
Be animatronic and appreciate that very end of that ride.
'Cause that ride is so much fun that you pull around and then you're like, couldn't they have sprung for something like it just feels so empty, like when the ride is done, you know?
But that's OK.
Yeah, a couple other pieces of small.
News that.
That have come up over the past couple weeks.
I'll jump around through these a little bit.
Nothing too earth shattering here.
One that I want to just dive into with you guys a bit more.
First up, DVC condo association meetings have reverted back to once a year.
It's going to be a once a year meeting that happens in the December time frame.
So that's typically when they have their big member gathering.
If they have anything to announce, they announce anything.
Like last year we were able to go over a couple days before Polynesian Island Tower opened and see that for most people, you're never going to know that these quarterly meetings existed.
If you were the one or two other people that were there with Jeff Haslam, because we sent him once or twice, that was about all that was in attendance for these quarterly meetings.
The one thing that I will say was that the quarterly meetings were nice from a member perspective because they put members in front of executives more often.
And I think that needs to happen because a lot of stuff that, and Jeff, you can speak to this more, a lot of stuff that came up during those meetings, sometimes they would just go, oh, huh, never even thought about that.
Or I'm surprised that that happened.
Or like, it's, it's just like they're oblivious to it because they live in their little world.
Yeah, the often times they had no earthly.
Idea what was going on and you know you kind of don't expect them to I mean they are executives for a reason that they have a bird's eye view that they leave it to the managers and the underlings to kind of do the day-to-day operations.
But some of the stuff like, hey, you know what, we would really like more freestyle machines if you're going to sell us these mugs and they were like, what's a freestyle machine like it was, it was very.
Disconnected for sure.
I'm not sad that the quarterly meetings are going away.
That way Paul doesn't make me go anymore.
Agreed.
It was just.
Too many.
It was fine, it was great.
It was just, it was a.
Lot.
In fact, I totally blew off the last one because I forgot it's OK.
So there was.
There was definitely one or two people that wondered why we didn't go, but there was nothing to really.
It was strange to have one of the executives come up.
To me and say, hey, you're old key, Jeff.
And I was like, really?
Oh, they do.
Watch the show.
There's a Monday.
Morning meeting at 10:00 and.
And it's just an hour long breakfast meeting in which they have a continental breakfast and everyone sits down and watches our weekly show.
You would be surprised that's not happening.
That does not May.
Not be that may.
That may.
Not be a joke that that does not happen, but I will tell.
You it It has been funny to hear how many of the people working, I think they're the Asas or the people that work.
We've had people stop us like by.
So many people say that like I got this.
Job and I knew nothing about DVC and I watched your show for the next week and a half and it helped it helped me know what I'm talking about on a daily basis like that has happened multiple times so like that that is equal parts awesome and.
Concerning, yeah, I mean DVC if you want us to put together.
Like a training packet for you.
We would be happy to do so.
Like we we can definitely talk and we won't mention the words resale or rental or any of those words that you don't like us to mention.
We can be quiet about that on an exchange is to come to the cool events with the rest.
Of the influencers, that's all.
Yeah, yeah, speaking.
Of cool events the The Boardwalk Meet and Treat is back for Halloween 2025, so there's a handful of dates.
Full Article up on DVC Fan October 13th, 14th, 27th, 28th This is at Disney's Boardwalk Resort.
Change of location.
This year it's headed over to the Convention Center at the Boardwalk.
In prior years it was actually at the Atlantic Dance Hall, but this has typically been an opportunity to.
Another thing.
We were hoping because of all that, there would be.
Boardwalk News and we got no Boardwalk news, but Amy and I have gone to this in the past.
They've got some cool character meet and greets as a result.
It's a nice free event for me.
Grab some.
Candy, grab some.
Treats.
They've had popcorn in the past, they've had some glow in the dark bracelets and stuff.
Just a cool little free event for anyone's that's there.
During those specific dates, you just have to have a resort reservation and you don't have to RSVP.
You just show up.
It is from 11It is from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Eastern Standard Time On those dates.

Jeff, I wanted you to speak to this one because we were both there together most recently, but something very surprising and Derek can maybe say this better than any of us.
So I'm going to go to Derek real quick.
Derek, what does Disney usually do?
They they listen to us?
Is that correct?
Or what do they do?
We listen.
We listen to our guests.
And what our guests told us was now queue whatever thing they took away or changed early entry is ending at Disneyland.
Resort and a new free Lightning Lane perk is coming in 2026.
So the 30 minute early theme park entry is no more.
Which for those of us that go there but that are not regulars to Disneyland, that 30 minutes was money.
That 30 minutes is when we could accomplish half of Magic Kingdom.
It felt like you could do.
A whole lot.
You could at least wipe out Fantasyland and get a get a lot of those dark rides out of the way.
So that ends January 4th, 2026 starting on January 5th, 2026.
And this is even better in my opinion.
Any guests staying at a Disneyland Resort hotel gets one complimentary lightning lane entry per guest per stay.
That's one lightning lane.
That's not an entire day of lightning lane multi pass.
That is 1 lightning lane for something that I'm most certain that a lot of people are going to buy for the entire probably already if you're yeah, if you're.
Staying at a Disney hotel for the most part.
You know, obviously there's some locals that stay once in a while, but if you're going into the parks, you're staying at the hotel, you're probably already buying the Lightning Lane multi pass.
So yeah, so that one Lightning lane per day isn't really giving you a whole lot that you're not already paying for.
Jeff's already got his curmudgeon on his shoulders.
I'm going.
To give him a couple minutes for this.
As a long time Disneyland fan.
And I talked to Carrie about this, who's a Disneyland local.
We were messaging back and forth about this the other day.
This out of anything else, in my opinion, that Disney's done in the last 10 years, This is the most disconnected, ridiculous decision that they have ever made.
And I'll tell you why.
Going to Disneyland is a very, very different experience than coming to Walt Disney World.
We all know that.
We've talked about that, how Disneyland is a much more intimate, much more, you know, more accessible.
You can bounce back and forth much easier than Disney World where you have to take two monorails, a sky liner and a boat to get around, right?
The only thing that was attractive about staying at a Disney Resort hotel at Disneyland were some of these perks.
You're talking the Disneyland Hotel that costs five $600 a night.
Grand California that costs north of 800 a night in the summertime.
Even the Pixar Hotel is up above $500 a night now you get nothing.
You get nothing but A1 free fast pass that as you guys said, people are probably going to buy anyway.
I don't get it.
You can stay at the Best Western Stovalls Inn with a breakfast for free for about $1.50 a night.
You know you can stay at one of the nicer like the Sheraton for a couple $100 a night.
There is no reason at all whatsoever in my opinion to stay at a Disneyland Hotel resort anymore.
And coming from ADVC point of view, I don't see any reason to stay at the Disneyland Hotel towers anymore.
Especially when you factor in, you know, the transient tax.
Because it's cheaper to literally stay anywhere else and be closer.
Like if you're at the Tropicana, if you're at the Best Western, you are such a much shorter walk than you are from Pixar Pier or the Disneyland Hotel that I don't understand why anybody would stay there anymore because there is nothing for you.
You get no perk, you get nothing like the the.
IT was almost like they should have just taken it away and not given the fast pass because everybody's already.
Going to be doing it.
Anyway, it's just, it's just a nothing and there's no way in my opinion is that this is for a guest benefit.
There's nothing for guests here.
This was a cost saving.
They didn't want to pay the labor to let people in 1/2 hour early.
And Paul is exactly right.
You could do all of Fantasyland or all of Tomorrowland in that half hour because it's not just 1/2 hour.
It's 1/2 hour.
Plus the time it takes for everybody else to filter in to go through all those rides, it really felt like more like 90 minutes to 2 hours before you really start to fall.
Fill those lines like, you know, fill up.
So I don't know.
I am I'm blown away by this.
Somebody needs to get fired on this one because that is the worst decision that they have ever made.
Yep, and it and it takes away that.
Say it again, Panda.
Froze.
Say it again, Panda.
He's definitely.
Like an.
Excellent chew chew.
He's talking to us.
He.
Does.
Yeah.
He's just talking.
Away on the other.
On the other side there.
But well, we'll come back to whatever Panda thought.
Whenever he rings back in in a minute or two, I'm sure he'll come back.
But last but not least, moving on.
Yeah, he's absolutely gone.
Now moving on to one more thing.
We have our biggest lover of Boardwalk himself, Derek, on this call.
And as Amy mentioned a couple minutes ago, we kind of felt that something was going to be announced for Boardwalk just based off of the fact that we keep hearing about things closing over there.
And the most recent announcement of something closing is the fact that the Promenade Fine Art Gallery at Disney's Boardwalk is set to close.
This announcement was posted on social media.
They have indicated that they will be moving and having a grand opening party at their new location, but they said they're waiting for Disney to make the official announcement of like where that is or where they are going.
But they will be closing as of October 31st.
That means just another thing on that side of the boardwalk.
You're you could just bowl a bowling ball right down that side of the boardwalk and you ain't going to hit anything.
That's almost this coupled with the fact that the meet and treat went to the Convention Center, made me think that, like, dancehall was going and we were going to build something bigger on that dancehall space on that far end of of this resort.
But Derek, any thoughts on your beloved, beloved boardwalk here?
Yeah, it should probably take me about 30 minutes.
Or so to get through them all.
No, it's just, it's horrible.
It is so depressing and so sad.
And it's funny.
When I knew that we were going to talk about this, we actually wound up going last Wednesday night to Flying Fish to go have dinner with my son Owen's girlfriends who were in town from girlfriends parents, not my son's girlfriends.
But so we went to, he's going to be like dad.
We went to Flying Fish for dinner and dinner was, it was better when I went with Jeff like a year earlier, but it was fine.
But it was walking out of the boardwalk couldn't have been more depressingly comical because knowing that that art place was closing, which yes, did I go there and buy, you know, $4000 original pieces of art?
No.
But you know what?
It was like a rite of passage that every time on your way, you check in, you walk out, maybe you have a drink and you walk in, walk through the art gallery, you look at pieces and say, Oh my God, I love this.
Which one would you buy?
And of course, you don't really buy them all, but it was just a neat different place to have knowing that that was going away.
Then we went into Screen Door and I couldn't believe how much Screen Door has changed.
It is so empty.
It used to you used to walk in that front area and you'd have so many groceries, like it felt like a little cute grocery store like with a street door on it.
Now it's all modernized and all the shelves just seem so empty.
And I took a picture and I'll see if you can see it and I'll send it to Paul so he can put it on there.
It just personifies how sad it looked.
And in fact, the lights halfway, it's like the boardwalk was legit cut in half because the little drooping bulb lights, the Edison bulb lights went all the way down towards that, you know, cake bakey shop when those were all on that whole part of the boardwalk for a good 30 minutes.
They didn't even turn the lights on.
It was like the weirdest thing knowing that big River's gone, knowing that the art gallery is going away, knowing the Jelly rolls is gone, knowing whatever they're doing with Atlantic dance.
There's just so much potential.
And it makes me as a boardwalk owner for 20 plus years, make me so sad because there was nothing better than going to eat on the boardwalk at whatever those restaurants are.
And you come out and the place was alive and it was vibrant and the music was on and there's, you know, entertainers and the carnival games were there.
It was just so depressing.
So I hope they get their excuse me together and start announcing some stuff to bring the boardwalk back to what it should be.
It's it's such a fantastic resort.
So that's all.
Rant over.
Yeah, that that the resort at.
Least it needed news and it needed news out of destination D 23.
And that's where like when we kind of made our predictions of what was going to happen, that's when I was like this, something has to come out of this event, like about Boardwalk and I, I felt like we were kind of setting ourselves up for that.
Then they had like the the jazz band playing during the food presentation.
Now, little did I know from the beginning of it that it was the band that is actually playing as part of Jollywood Nights.
But I was originally like going, Oh no, they're going to announce the jazz club that's been rumoured for, for Jelly Rolls that everyone wanted to replace Jelly Rolls.
And I'm like, no one wanted that.
So I hope they got that message at least to kibosh that idea and go back to the drawing board.
Maybe we'll get something at the condo meeting.
In December, probably not.
I want I want the condo meeting to be 100.
Percent dedicated to Lakeshore Lodge.
I want them to spend an hour and tell us what they've been working on for two years and what they're building over there.
I doubt they'll even do that, but I mean, you look at you look at the boardwalk.
Space.
Logistically.
A little bit and I could see a scenario where they expand Big River Grill into the screen door to give them some more seating there and come up with a new restaurant idea, move the store into where the art exhibit used to be, which that was a cool place to pop into.
But one of those, the tables caught my eye.
I can't remember.
It was a Little Mermaid table or something.
And it was like $15,000 or something like that.
And I was like who?
I'm in a shop that I'm not supposed to be in.
I didn't.
I did not know the idea.
But.
You know and and give that whatever is going to replace Big River Grill more space.
But then you've got the Atlantic dance hall question mark.
Yeah, I don't know.
They've got to be planning something.
I just I would rather sooner than later because I'm bored and and and a.
Resort of the magnitude of the boardwalk.
I'm sorry, don't save these announcements for their typical
Wednesday 2Wednesday 2:00 AM press announcement that goes out, you know, just out of nowhere.
Don't cause on an airplane.
Yeah, or don't save it until like the next.
Travel agent convection, you know, coming down and look, we're going to show you over and take it, make it a big deal.
That resort is so special to so many people that have so many memories and they're slowly removing and they're not even offered.
Like, yes, have have I given crap to, you know, replacing ESPN with a cake bake shoppie all the time?
I do.
I still don't think that that was the best choice for it to go there.
But my God, I think we're going on two 2 1/2 years that big River's been closed and nothing, not one announcement in over years.
And my son's girlfriend's parents stayed there for a week at the Boardwalk and they're like, again, that old mantra, why the hell does this resort not have a typical quick service place that we could go to get for everybody?
You had to go to the deli every morning or you had to take out a second mortgage to go eat at the cake bake, shopping for breakfast.
You don't have that many options there with so many people.
It's just madding.
Madding to me.
All right, Sorry.
I I love it when we poke the bear with David.
Like I love how it's going off.
We're going to have to wrap this.
Show up because.
Derek's all fired up and we have to calm him down for two other shows we're about to film tonight.
So Panda, wrap this up with whatever random thought you had earlier that we made-up words for while you disappeared.
I don't even remember I was.
Going to say something and then the Internet went poof and I, my brain has gone.
I agree with Derek and Jeff.
The boardwalk I don't get.
I have no idea how they survive without a quick service.
Yeah, well, as always, we want to know your.
