Episode Transcript

Speaker 1

Yo, what's up?

Speaker 2

And welcome to a brand new episode of The Hot Ike here on the John Roka Channel.

I am the titular John Roka.

John is always bye, the in Snider himself, Jeff Snyder, how are you?

Jeff?

Speaker 3

Hello, Johnny boy?

Speaker 1

What's going on?

Speaker 2

My man?

Speaker 1

So much to talk about here today, brother.

Speaker 2

We got some Star Wars news, we got some Marvel DC stuff, we got film news.

We had all kinds of stuff we're talking about here on the Hot Mic.

And this is our only show this week.

We did not get a chance to do a second show.

It wasn't much happening.

Speaker 1

Over the weekend.

Speaker 2

But now we're back at it and there's so much to copy here over the last few days.

Already talking to some trailers as well.

We're going in all kinds of stuff here on the channel and just or on the show.

And just a reminder, the stream labs, the superchats are open.

Sending your love, sending your support for us here on the channel, and keep it going.

Speaker 1

I put in a goal there for us to hit fifty superw We had fifty super chants of five dollars or more.

Speaker 2

Then I will reveal something that I've gotten recently from a source today from Avengers, and possibly even something else that I might reveal down the road.

So we'll see if Jeff as anything can reveal on the show as we go along.

But Jeff, we'd be remiss not to start with the Micah Parsons trade right off the bat here going to the Packers.

Shock of all shocks, he is gone from the Cowboys.

Speaker 1

Does this change the balance of power in the NFC?

Jeff Snunn, No, okay, why not?

Speaker 3

I mean, if it doesn't affect my fantasy team, I don't care.

I did not draft the Packers this season.

Maybe I should.

Maybe they're available in free agency.

If they are in your league, go check them out.

They're worth a flyer.

But no, I don't think that it shifts anything.

Obviously.

He's a great defensive player.

Yeah, probably the best in the NFL right now, and defense does win championships.

But you're only one of I don't even know how many guys are on defense.

John ten nine, eleven, Yeah, there you go, eleven.

I think it is Jesus Christ goes to show what I know.

Probably ten, it's probably ten.

Speaker 2

The Cowboys received three time Pro Bowl defensive tack with Kenny Clark in two first round picks, So that's pretty amazing.

Parsons agreed to a four year, one hundred and eighty eight million dollar contract with one hundred and twenty million of it guaranteed and one hundred and thirty six million in total guarantees, making him the highest paid nine quarterback player in NFL history.

That is massive.

Man, I'd love to get one hundred and twenty million dollars guaranteed.

That would be amazing.

For God's sakes, why don't they pay us out for talking about sport entertainment news like this?

Speaker 1

I wish they did.

Speaker 3

I really, you know, if only I had known and realized, maybe I could have been like the white stephen A.

Smith, even like Ryan Mascilla who's signing a deal with Barstool.

Speaker 1

Wow, that is shocking to me as well.

Speaker 2

But Ryan sliding down that path there that he wants to go down with barstool anyway.

All right, but we're talking about entertainment.

That's what we're here to talk about.

We had so much going on here, Jeff.

Speaker 1

We should start.

Speaker 2

I guess we should start with the big story, and that's Star Wars.

Speaker 1

Right.

Speaker 2

It was announced today that production is underway on Star Wars Star Fighter.

There you see the picture of Ryan Gossling there with a new kid who is going to be part of this movie and it's going to lead the way here from what I understand as being the main kid that people want to get their hands on.

Pretty amazing stuff here with what you got to announce today from Star Wars.

Flynn Gray is the name of the kid that you see there.

But not only Flynn Gray, we also get announced that Aaron Pierre and Amy Adams will be joining the cast, along with Simon Burd, Jame Westman, and Daniel Ings.

Speaker 1

That's for Star Wars Starfighters.

Speaker 2

So, Jeff, you look at these announcements, you look at this photo that started it all off.

Speaker 1

I mean, what does this tell you about the direction of this movie.

Speaker 3

Well, I'll fill you in a little bit more on that shortly, but okay with the past, I think this is a really good cast.

If I had told you months ago, or however long it was, Star Wars movie is gonna star Ryan Gosling, Aaron Pierre, Me and Goff, Amy Adams and Matt Smith, would you be happy with that?

Speaker 2

Ecstatic?

Speaker 3

I think you would be too.

And listen I know that there are people who have passed on this project as they do on you know, a lot of projects.

You know, this thing certainly made the rounds.

But at the end of the day, there's enough really talented actors in Hollywood, I think want to be a part of this franchise.

Right, it is still special to a lot of people.

And this is you know, as I think that the said today like a new adventure, right, you know, I like that this is a like they keep hammering home like this is a standalone thing.

Yes, you don't need to have seen anything else, et cetera.

So I I'm looking forward to Star Wars Starfighter because again, it feels like a movie made for people like me.

Yeah, want and appreciated Ryan.

I don't need to have seen eight zillion other Star Wars movies.

Yeah.

Speaker 2

I like the I like the way they announced it a black and white photo with the guy with the with Ryan and Skyler on a on a damn or sorry Flynn Ryler and Ryan and Flynn on a speeder in black and white.

There's already an immediate feel this is something different, This is something we haven't seen before.

Dare I say it has a little bit of a prestige feel to it to go black and white.

Speaker 1

And then you add, as.

Speaker 2

We were saying, as you were mentioning as well, this level of actors that you're adding here, both up and comers in Mia goth and Aaron Pierre, and veterans here with Amy Adams and Ryan Gossing and then a new kid, relatively new kid and fully Gray.

So you've got a good combination.

And you've got Matt Smith in this, You've got all these other actors in this.

So to me, this already feels much more important.

And clearly this is the next film.

If they're already popping out Mando Grogo in just a few months, this is the next film on the slate.

So do they do they feel that this was the strongest one.

Speaker 1

To go with?

Speaker 2

Is that why it followed up so quickly, right after Mandalori and Grogu?

Because we've been hearing about the Mangold film for much longer, We've been hearing about the Ray movie for much longer, But this one seemed to slide in quickly, Jeff and get its feet rolling, and it's already shooting starting today.

Speaker 3

Well, I think you know most of these things.

It comes down to the script, right and this, you know, like I think that they'd been working on this one for a while, maybe not as loudly as some of the others, but once you get a star like Ryan Gosling, like you put the pedal to the metal and you take advantage of that window if he's going to block off like six nine months in his schedule or.

Speaker 2

Something like that.

Speaker 3

Yeah, yeah, I think that is what tips it over the edge and goes from hey, this is a development thing, yeah, green light right right?

Speaker 1

What do you think about this kid?

Flyn Graham?

Speaker 2

I mean some some experience doing occasional TV shows.

He was on some show for like six or eight episodes there as a character, and he was recently on an episode of Wednesday for season two, but not really a well known name.

Had you heard this name being batted around?

And have you heard this name before?

What are your thoughts on this?

Speaker 3

So of the actors announced today, yes, I knew two of them.

Okay, you know, again playing the long game here, folks, And I'll prove it to you by explaining the code from our previous episode or whatever.

Yeah, do you remember that I gave a little numbered code.

Speaker 1

I don't remember go ahead and refreshment.

Speaker 3

I said it was one, one, three, five, six and one six one a for Amy Adams, one you know, another one very you know, then three letters and Amy five letters and Adams six Oscar nominations.

So that that's besides the point.

Speaker 2

Wow, crafty, Yeah.

Speaker 3

Amy Adams and and Flynn Gray.

It was funny because I was all I was told, actually, is that the kid's name was Flynn.

He was in like Flynn h And there are two kids named Flynn right that I could tell who would be age appropriate and like looked like they could potentially be the star of Star Wars movie.

But it was obviously this kid.

I just like just looking at the like his head shots, and like, oh, like this is a Sean.

Speaker 2

Levy kid, right.

Speaker 3

And he looks great.

He's a he's a good looking kid.

I mean imagine being this kid and having like your life change overnight, Like this is like a Harry Potter.

Yeah, you know, like he'll forever be this is will be the rest of his life.

He'll be the kid Star Wars.

So I think it's a huge opportunity for him.

That photo looks epic.

Yeah, and yeah, Amy Adams is gonna playing his mother.

Speaker 2

Okay, do you have any other information on Amy Adams and the character she might be playing, anything like that.

Speaker 3

Nope, I don't know anything else about it.

I don't know who Aaron Pierre is playing.

You know.

That was like a surprise to me today.

I was like, oh shit, I got Aaron Pierre.

Speaker 2

Wow.

Yeah.

Yeah.

I hadn't heard his name at all from any anything in the wind or any kind of speculation of everybody in the wind.

So it's a fascinating like he's going.

He's quickly on the ascent here, man, I mean Lanterns and now Star Wars.

Speaker 3

I mean, you asked him because he has such an incredible face, right him maybe being a villain of some sort of I'm not sure honestly, But you don't think there's any possibility he could be a voice, do you?

No?

I don't.

Yeah.

Speaker 1

I would feel weird about that if he was playing a voice.

Speaker 2

To be honest with you, I mean, I think you how many there's not that many black actors to get a chance to be part of Star Wars playing a voice.

I don't know if that's necessarily the great step for him.

And he's such a damn good actor and a good looking actor.

Why the hell would you say?

Speaker 3

That's what I'm saying.

But I had to ask because he was the voice in the Lion King movie, right, but everyone.

Speaker 1

Was the voice in Lion King.

That's a different situation.

Speaker 3

Right, No, I think it'll be live action.

I haven't heard anything in the contrary.

This is not me like signaling anything.

It was just an idea.

It was like, well, some of the I wonder if some of these people, or at least one of them, is going to be a voice.

Speaker 2

I wonder if him and Ryan are like partners on this whole situation, and what's going on with the kid?

Speaker 1

Like the are they are they guy?

Speaker 2

Are they like working together and they stumble upon this kid or they get they get handed this kid to be taken care of, because there's a lot of rumors that he's going to be this kid's going to be handed off to to Ray at the end of the movie.

And who knows how much of that is true.

But it could be that they're working together.

But the possibility, as you said, it could be that he's a villain.

And as you were saying last week, like the doors are opening in Hollywood now again to having people of color play villains, having women play villains.

Speaker 1

Like it's opening the door now to that again.

Speaker 2

So he just.

Speaker 3

Has these eyes that I can see like glowing from like behind like a black robe.

Yeah, he has a hell of a look.

So do you want to keep Do you want to keep talking about Star Wars?

Speaker 1

Yeah?

Speaker 2

If you want.

If you want to keep talking about Wars, you's got something else.

Speaker 3

Let's break the news right here.

Speaker 2

Oh okay, okay, I'm gonna what do.

Speaker 3

You got send?

Hold on?

You know, I'm gonna say it on the air before I hit the button.

Speaker 1

Okay, okay.

Speaker 3

No one has mentioned.

No one in the world has mentioned who is shooting this movie?

Speaker 1

Right?

Speaker 2

Cinematography a big deal recently with some films that have come out like uh Dune and The Batman Part two?

Who is the cinematographer for this?

Speaker 3

For the one knows who the cinematographer is, but I'm about to tell you because it is a fucking get and a half my friends, Are you ready?

Speaker 2

Yes?

Speaker 3

Oscar winning cinematographer Claudio Miranda Wow, just shot Top Gun, Maverick and f one.

Yes and one is Oscar for Life of Pie?

Speaker 1

Right?

Speaker 3

Going to be the DP on Star.

Speaker 2

Warst Wow, Wow, Top Gun Maverick, Only The Brave, Tomorrowland Tron, Legacy, Oblivion, Life of Pie.

It's quite a resume for Spectacle and F one of course, now moving on to.

Speaker 1

Do this movie, it's exciting.

Speaker 2

These are very strong people in these positions on this production, from acting to behind the camera Jeff and more and more.

It feels like this is gonna be probably the more important film than Mandalorian and Grogu That's what it feels like to me, because this feels like it's signaling a new direction for Star Wars, this kind of movie, don't you sense or is this gonna be like a Rogue one film where's a bit of a one off?

Speaker 1

What are you sense from this movie?

Getting this much talent?

Speaker 3

And that is what I like sort of wanted to get at.

Is that visually right?

If this is what they want to do, they want to take their visual cues from Top Gun Maverick.

Yeah, and F one like this movie might kick some ass.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I mean he Top Gun Maverick one point five billion or a little bit over one point five billion.

And then you look at F one right now, ahead of Superman.

F one has made more money globally than Superman.

Stick your domestic totals and shove it up your ding.

Dang, it's about a global box office and the global box office.

Speaker 1

F one is doing better than Superman.

Speaker 2

Who the hell predicted that at the beginning of the summer, And one of the big reasons is the cinematographer, So you know what I'm saying.

So this is an exciting thing to put him in in Star Wars, and it also makes me think there's gonna be a.

Speaker 1

Lot of aerial battles in space.

Speaker 2

There's gonna be a lot of space battles between the ships as well, So that's exciting all around, you know.

Now do you think this.

Speaker 3

Is this guy's in town?

Sorry?

I was just getting story out there.

This guy is an absolute wizard behind the camera, and I think that Sean Levy will certainly benefit from having him next to him.

Speaker 1

Yeah, yeah, agreed.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I mean, you know, Sean Levy, he makes good movies, you know, but a little lightweighted times.

You bring in a cinematographer like this, you bring in actors like this, there's a little more punch to come from Sean.

Speaker 1

Levy as a director.

Speaker 2

So you're right, it's what you want to surround him with to deliver the best possible movie that you can.

What else do you have on this?

Speaker 1

Anything else?

Speaker 3

That's all I got.

I got the cinematographers.

They're not good enough for you, Johnny, Hey, what do you need from me?

Speaker 2

Well, if we get the fifty superchets, I might have something more to add to this story.

Speaker 1

Possible from a source that I got.

Speaker 2

And I don't even know if I'm allowed to say this, but I might get in trouble if I say this was make.

Speaker 3

You look bad?

You know, you could have come to me, my brother.

Speaker 1

Let me text you the story and then we'll see if we do it or not.

Speaker 3

By the end, you should you put it in the private chat.

We've got a good track record going here.

Speaker 2

I don't know people yelling at me over the over the fucking RDJ Ryan Reynolds thing that they completely concocted out of thin air.

Speaker 3

Where did this come from?

I don't know.

Speaker 2

We did not say Ryan Reynolds, We never said Robert Downey Junior.

Yet people took that and ran with it and created their own narrative on it.

Speaker 3

Pretty well.

It's madness, man, guys.

Get it get it straight here straight from the source.

We're giving you the juice unfiltered.

Why would you go to these aggregators who don't even know what they're talking about?

Speaker 1

Exactly exactly?

All right, there you go.

Speaker 2

So that's our Star Wars.

That's our Star Wars section of the show for now.

Let's move on to some other stuff, Jeff, and maybe take the temperature down a little bit before we heat it back up again.

Speaker 1

How about this story here?

What about this?

Speaker 2

We got ourselves a Sylvester Stallone situation going on here.

Speaker 1

It was just announced today that there is an.

Speaker 2

Actor cast as so as Rocky Balboa, Young Rocky Balboa.

That is Anthony Pallito, who portrayed al Pacino in The Offer, which is still a series.

Speaker 1

I need to fucking watch.

Uh he is?

Speaker 2

Now, you didn't see the Offer?

I haven't seen that.

Speaker 1

I gotta watch the Offer.

Speaker 2

He has now the starring role in I Play Rocky, the Story of the Making of Rocky that is being made by Amazon.

MGM Peter Fairley is directing this one.

But that is the guy there, Anthony.

Speaker 1

Hey Pallito, Uh, what do you think about this?

Speaker 2

Does he make sense?

This guy?

Does it?

Does he look like the rights?

Speaker 1

Uh?

Speaker 3

Alay this part as he has those hang dog guys, which Yeahino and and Stallone both have.

I find it imp I mean, these guys are like so polar opposites though, Like I can't like, I don't know how you play Paccino and the same guy plays Stallone.

But but I will say that this kid's good.

He was and you absolutely need to see the offer.

That was a good show for Paramount Plus and Miles Dell did a great job too.

Speaker 2

A lot of people people tell me this, but what do I mean.

I don't think Stallan's involved in this, right, Stolane has nothing to do with this.

Speaker 1

They're just doing this on their own, right.

Speaker 3

Yeah, this is like, you know, a way to take advantage of the rights and yeah, it's it's like about the making of the movie.

Yeah, and how he fought for himself, just like this kid fought for himself in real life.

According to the article.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I was just gonna say he asked them to audition.

Speaker 3

No one's thinking of you, but he was like, hey, let me put myself on tape.

All I asked was that you watched the tape and they were blown away.

Speaker 2

Yeah, yeah, that's exactly what you said.

That's exactly what happened.

And hey, listen, that's how you get things sometimes in the business of Hollywood, as you go and do unconventional things in order to get yourself in front of the right people.

And there it is, and so she's he's, uh.

Speaker 3

Okay, guys, let me tell you.

It's all these actors who are like kind of God bless agents and managers.

I work with them all the time.

But it's also like, wow, there are a lot of folks out there who just live at their beach house and don't really put in the work for their clients, and they just you know, they send it in and they're like, tell me, and then they don't hear back from it from weeks or months.

Yes, it's like, oh yeah, you know, I sent it around no bites, and it was like, you didn't do shit with it.

Speaker 2

Exactly.

Speaker 1

Oh man.

Speaker 2

So I'm excited about this.

I hope it works out.

I hope it's good.

But we'll see in the end what it ends up being.

Do you have any reservations about this thing, like any concerns about this thing at all?

Speaker 1

Like do we need the story?

Speaker 2

You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3

I mean, who's directing it.

Oh, Peter for I mean, I like, you know, I love the book.

I love Green Book.

People say I'm crazy, people say I'm racist.

There's like this movie didn't just like win Best Picture out of thin fucking air.

Okay, it's a really good movie.

It won the audience awarded Tip granted Life of Chuck, which is so watchable almost so you know, maybe we should stop treating that as like a big arbiter.

Speaker 2

I don't you know.

All Right, we'll see.

I'm excited about it.

I hope it works.

So I love the Rocky stories.

I love the story of this.

I don't know how much Stallone is telling the truth about this story, but it's still would be fun to see it on screen and see how it all what that's a great question.

Speaker 1

That is a great question.

Who plays Coppola's sister.

Speaker 3

You see Anna Kendrick playing Talia Shire?

Speaker 2

No, because she's not Italian?

Speaker 3

What the hell you've gotta be Italian?

Speaker 2

I think, so you gotta look Italian, got to be Italian?

Kendrick doesn't Kendrick.

I could see Kendrick playing Diane Keaton if you're doing The Godfather.

I couldn't see her playing Tally as Shire.

I see, there's got to be a you know, what about Rachel Sitton though I guess not.

Her eyes are too big.

Let's just say Rachel set But I don't think that's right.

Speaker 3

Interesting, not Italian?

Speaker 1

Yeah, but you know one of us?

What about Kristi Miliotti?

Speaker 3

No, actually she's not one of us.

She's actually not Jewish, Rachel.

Speaker 2

She's not.

Wow, Okay, what about uh?

Yeah, what about Kristi Miliotti?

You say no, you say no, you say yes, you say no.

What do you say?

Speaker 3

Then?

Speaker 1

I don't know if she would do it in this bill?

Speaker 3

I mean, who are the executives who would be?

Like?

I mean the director of that movie is what is it?

John One?

Speaker 2

Peter watch movie?

Speaker 3

Who directed Rocky Oh?

Speaker 2

John g Alvidson?

Speaker 3

Alton Right?

Speaker 2

Yeah?

God did Karate Kid?

So here are some suggestions from looking online.

People say, Sienna Shaw, Gabby the character of Gabby from the movie Thanksgiving.

I don't know who that is.

Victoria Hayes, area of Montgomery.

Interesting choices here, Addison.

Speaker 3

From this tiny indie movie.

Speaker 2

Weathers as well.

Let's move on to an indie movie that's this situation here, bethro Pascal Jeff, what are your thoughts on this?

This coming to us from Anthony Delsandro over there at Deadline.

Todd Haynes's gay romance De Noce, which shut down about a year ago, is being revived with Bethroo Pascal apparently circling the role.

According source of the Planet, is for this feature to get up and running in New Year in Guadalajada, Mexico, and a lot of that is being worked around the four time Emmy Nominators Actors busy schedule from now into twenty twenty six.

I mean, remember this was the production that was essentially fell essentially killed, possibly because of Joaquin Phoenix leaving just before they're about to shoot.

He was a no shan chev for two weeks prior to its unplugging.

Speaker 1

So what are your thoughts on this?

This makes sense?

Are we getting an announcement to accompany this particular film?

Speaker 2

What are your thoughts?

Speaker 3

I mean this surprised me, if only because he just entered talks to star in Behemoth.

Oh yes, Tony Gilroy.

It's like, I don't know what the status of that is because I know they've had some trouble casting some of the supporting roles.

You know, because people have to like basically learn how to play music or whatever.

It's so it surprised me in terms of like, oh, they can fit this into his schedule too.

But if it's for like Danny Ramirez, who appears to be a pal, Yeah, worked with him on Last of Us and they're both in the Marvel universe, yeah, it may just be like, hey, we can bang this literally bang this out in four weeks.

Speaker 1

Yeah, we'll see.

Speaker 2

But are we in a place now?

I mean, I feel like people are turning in Pedrol Man.

Don't you sense that that's the air right now.

Speaker 3

Out in the underwhelming summer?

I mean, Fantastic War, It's okay, Eddington, It's okay Eddington.

Divisive Materialists I thought was maybe the best one.

Speaker 1

That made a lot of money.

Who's thinking But no one's thinking of Pedrol.

Speaker 2

When you think of that movie, you're thinking of Dakota.

Speaker 3

I agree.

You know, I gave her credit in my newsletter this week.

So but like, you know, he's still one of the three leads.

You have to give him a little bit of credit.

And he's good in the movie.

I don't know, I just nope, But like movie, the movie did better than expected.

Speaker 1

Yeah, for sure, for sure, all right, so we'll see what happens.

Speaker 2

Maybe we're not we're not done with the Pedro Pascal being cast in everything situation yet just yet.

Here's this is one of some controversial stuff, Jeff, as if we haven't already talked a little bit of controversial stuff.

Speaker 1

But what's your thoughts on this?

Brian Singer.

Speaker 2

Brian Singer is apparently mounting himself a little comeback here and has shot a movie from what I understand, uh, that is going to be coming out here and the way it's described, it's a secret film here.

This is coming to us from Tatiana Siegu and Alex Ritman over there at at Variety.

He is uh he he shot this film with Oscar winner John Voyd as the leader of the film.

It's described as a period drama that resolves revolves around the relationship between a father and son in Greece.

In twenty twenty three, Variety understands that Israeli filmmaker YARV.

Speaker 1

Horowitz.

Speaker 2

I hope I'm saying that right is involved in the project.

One source who has seen the final company is not involved with the production, describes it as quote a really well made film with award season potential, but predicts that it's going to be a huge hobeed of controversy due to the subject matter.

The source describes the story as set in the Middle East in the late seventies or early eighties, at a time when Israel occupied Lebanon.

Speaker 1

Quote, it makes Israel look really bad and could be polarizing.

Speaker 2

Another source familiar with the project says, the story follows an architect looking for redemption.

So your thoughts on this, I mean, this is a far cry from red Sonia and clearly he's working with a certain side here, working with John Voyd.

What do he thought?

Speaker 3

You can't stop an artist from creating art.

So I'm not surprised that Brian saying or two years ago, it sounds like in twenty twenty three went off and shot a movie on the other of the world, seemingly in secret with John Voight of all people, like, you know, the fact that it is anti Israel to the extent that it sounds like it could be is surprising because I thought Israel like took him in, yes, you know, so that's that confused me and surprised me.

But like I honestly could just not get past the fact that that Tatiana like actually quoted a source saying this has award season potential, which made me like literally laugh out loud, like I'm like, I'm sorry, Wait a second.

Brian Singer number one, John Voight number two, and Anti Israel number three.

Yeah, I don't like this is gonna be a big awards Get me what you quote a source instead?

Something so absolutely insane.

Speaker 2

And a source close to the production.

What else are they gonna say?

It's a piece of crap?

Don't see it?

Everybody?

Come on, Yeah, I remember a singer as Jeff was mentioning for some of you may not know this, but in twenty nineteen, The Atlantic did a pretty scathing expose of singer and his alleged sexual misdeeds involving minors.

That's a fore add that to the fourth you know, the singer, of course is sorry.

Brian Singer has categorically denied ever having sex with preference for underage boys, and separately Fox fired him from Bahemian Rhapsody during production because due to his absences in chaotic conditions, and quite a few people have spoken about his actions on sets and his disappearing acts.

So I imagine the easiest way to get a film done is when you're the only person who is relied upon making it, you know, because then it works on your schedule at the studio.

Isn't necessarily standing over you watching all of this.

But yeah, I'd be surprised if this comes out it makes any kind of noise at all, to be honest with you, and I know that Hollywood is maybe moving a little bit toward the right and all of that is.

We see all these productions and things being announced, but I still don't think that means there's a there's a public for it or a backing for it financially in terms of within the public.

But we'll see, because I got a feeling, Jeff, we're going to get more and more films like this announced and possibly greenlit.

Will they actually lead to financial box office because you know, we've said this numan times on the show.

That's the only thing Hollywood cares about is is it going to make money?

And if it's going to make money, they don't keep making those kinds of movies.

Speaker 3

There's no way I'll make money.

Speaker 1

Well, I don't disagree with you, but the crazier things have happened I.

Speaker 3

Respect like the right audience.

Yeah, on the right way, I mean, and like I respect the church going audience, like the faith based audience.

Yes, I don't see this like fitting any of those like niches.

Speaker 2

I think what you said at the beginning is fascinating too.

I mean, he moved to Israel for years and apparently was pitching new Rus projects having to do with Israel.

So is this a situation where he's so mad that he can get any of these projects going?

So he made an anti Israel films as an fu I don't know, man, it's kind of interesting to see that.

Speaker 3

It beats me, all right, don't want to go to the movies to see the Middle East.

That's the other thing.

Speaker 2

Oh yeah, that's right.

Ask what, Siriana, how they did with all of that.

Well, let's what else do I want to talk about?

Oh, here we go, here we go.

All right, this is I want to bring this up.

Let's stay in the realm of as you said, faith, best base based stuff.

Let's talk about this.

This has been a bit of a big news.

But there's a contemporary Wizard of Oz series called Dorothy in works at Prime Video from Gwen Stefani Blake Shelton and creator Gina Matthews.

This is being developed over at Prime Video.

Matthews created and will produce under her Little Engine label.

It is supposedly a contemporary music, confused young adult telling of the Wizard of Oz, using the Yellow Brick Road as a metaphor for the challenges and chase the choices facing young adults today.

We know recently Gwen Stefani came out and it was a big faith based person all of a sudden and talked about the power of prayer and all this stuff.

And so we're a far cry from the punk princess that she was.

She's now settled down and very much into her religion.

There's nothing wrong with that.

We've all got a right to go on our journeys and all of that.

But who is clamoring for this?

Jeff, who is this for?

Speaker 1

And Wicked's about to come out and crush all this Wizard of Oz stuff.

So is this InMotion?

Speaker 2

Is this in motion to take advantage of this or is this just kind of a thing that's showing the As.

Speaker 4

The Wizard of Oz is backy, they're all over the sphere.

Did you see that today about David Zaslav and Dolan, Yeah, and Dolan being in the they've digitally inserted their faces into the Wizard of Oz.

Speaker 3

Is this not like oh weirdo.

Speaker 2

Shit, God save us from the fucking billionaires and the fucking multimillionaires.

You a dorks.

Speaker 1

You're all fucking dorks for gods.

Speaker 3

I mean it's dorks would actually respect the Wizard of Oh it's like, have I gotten sure I wouldn't suddenly put my face in it.

It's pretty unbelievable, but it was blurry.

We can't have blurr.

This is not a terrible idea, right, Like okay, tell me what the idea of Dorothy like a YA show like Archie, Yeah, and like Dorothy and Friends.

That's that's a potential hit.

Speaker 1

Yeah, but you know.

Speaker 2

It's going I mean, it's from a faith based company, so you know it's going to be about like pushing these faith based ideals and pushing these narratives about things to avoid the yellow brick road and all these things that you're supposed to avoid.

You know, it's going to be that kind of thing.

And I don't know, I always think that kind of stuff does more harm than good because you start to make those things that are bad, seem dangerous, and if they're dangerous, more people will go to words that then move away from that.

So I think this kind of stuff never ends up being positive.

Speaker 3

But every shows it is about characters along that same path, except they don't make the choice to go down, and they veer off the path and they decide to do something bad for them to get into the trouble.

That's called the chef.

Speaker 1

That's true, that's fair, that's every show.

Speaker 2

I guess you're right, but I will see.

But it does as I was saying, I think it does speak to the to the power of faith based stuff, of right wing stuff.

I think we're going to see more of this stuff being greenlit in Hollywood, Jeff.

Speaker 3

And you see this as a right wing TV.

Speaker 2

Oh yeah, please, Yes, it's it's Gwenn and Blake and they've talked about their faith based MAGA approach to things recently, and so yeah, absolutely, hundred percent, one thousand percent.

Speaker 1

This is what it is.

Speaker 2

And look, and again, this is art, and if people can create it and there's a market for it and it makes money, then you keep making that art because it's about making money.

Right, So I'm not saying this can't be made.

I'm just saying, be aware of what's being made here, and it's going to We're going to see how people respond to it and see what the numbers are.

And I'm not surprised that Prime Video is involved here, with Bezos owning Prime Video and where Bezos is leaning lately, and so I'm not surprised that they're opening the door to this kind of stuff.

We're going to see more and more companies start to invest or explore right wing, faith based type of stuff as mainstream entertainment.

I'm just believe that that's going to happen.

You know, you gotta you gotta please people, and if there's a if there's a market for it, you got to be there.

All right, Well, let me ask a question about the S and L situation.

I don't know, have you've seen people leaving.

Heidi Gardner leaving after eight years, Michael Longfellow leaving after three years, A couple of the writers have left, and the one guy that was brought on for only one season he's gone.

Speaker 1

Now the guy who's playing MANGIONI.

What are your thoughts on this?

Speaker 3

You okay, you sounded down in the last item, which wait, what out out the state of the world?

Would you like some gum drops?

Speaker 2

Nobody, because that's just that's just deluding myself that things are still okay.

Speaker 1

So don't I like to be in reality?

Speaker 3

Nobody forging out or anything.

Speaker 1

Look you see the size of that chicken?

Speaker 3

Yeah?

Okay snl.

Heidi Gardner is leaving.

Michael Longfellow's leaving as well as Devin Walker and e Muel Keem.

Those are fore cast members announced now, along with two writers, Celestial and rosebud Baker.

Longfellow, yeah, three years.

I really thought that he was being groomed to take over a weekend update.

Speaker 2

I love Longfellow, man, I'm sad he's He's the one that I Heidi is like, Heidi can go Hide's.

Speaker 1

Guys career ahead of her.

Speaker 2

The Longfellow I think needed more time to season there, man.

Speaker 3

I mean, you know, maybe he just didn't like it, you know, definitely not for everybody who lands it, right you you you have to accept it, you know, if it's offered to you and you do your three years or you know, I don't know, I guess they're on a yearly contract or whatever.

Yeah, A Longfellow like Late Nighter had reported that he had tested with one of the SNL writers, a female writer he'd tested for a weekend update, which made me think, oh, Colin and Michael are leaving if they're testing anybody at all.

Yeah, but you know, at this point, they haven't announced that yet, although they could be leading up to it as well, like it long you know, it's literally yeah, Walker and Emil wakeem like, you know those guys.

Then the three year guy longfellow than ID then it could be them.

I don't know.

Speaker 2

Yeah, well, she said recently on a podcast with Craig ferguson Who I miss on Late Night?

I fucking loved Craig on Late Night, he said.

She said that she admitted that things quote have gotten a little tough.

I will say the only thing that I've started to feel a bit lately is just sketch fatigue or idea fatigue.

At this point, after doing Growlings and SNL for so long, I'm like, I've written a lot of sketches and look, she's got that homes dot com campaign.

I think this is a person who is not going to suffer for work.

I think people want to put her in movies.

The Molly Shannon Kristen Wigg This is the Heidi Gardener path.

She could land on a sitcom.

She's incredibly talented and don't oh yeah, just called Heidi.

Just call it Heidi, right, It's.

Speaker 3

I mean, she could I could definitely see her like bring that back.

But I think she's funny.

I think she's talented.

The show is going to miss her, right, she had other opportunities.

Speaker 2

Yeah, and I think you know, Devin Walker, I saw in post like you know, it was fun, but it was also toxic.

Speaker 1

No surprise.

Speaker 2

A lot of black performers find SNL to be a little toxic because it's just not it's is It isn't really written for you know, it's not really a platform necessarily to get a lot of black sketches or black focused sketches out there.

Speaker 1

Keenan is the rarity and he has done that for so long.

Speaker 2

Tim Meadows, these are the rarity guys that come through and be a part, So I'm not surprised.

Speaker 1

But he also said that he's happy to be moving on.

Speaker 2

Emil was a little more or he said it was a gut punch, So that's a shame for him and his young career.

But hopefully longfellow can go to Jared Carmichael, right, because he's kind of a route, because he's got a little bit of that kind of energy as well.

So I'll be looking forward to see what he does down the road.

Speaker 1

All right, what else?

Speaker 2

What else you want to you want to get into some trailers?

Speaker 1

What's trailer stood out.

Speaker 3

To you this week?

I don't even know where you want to begin.

Speaker 2

Yeah, Bogonia.

Let's start with Bogonia that dropped today.

Speaker 1

Would you think of that?

Speaker 3

I mean, I think it's a pretty fucking cool trailer, like to see like Jesse Plemmons jumping on the table like that at the end.

The movie got good reviews, maybe not the greatest reviews today, Yeah, out of Venice, but it seemed to go over.

It seemed to go over a little bit better than Jake Kelly, to be honest.

Speaker 1

Yeah, j Kelly.

Speaker 2

The George Clooney film got some mixed reviews from people who saw it at the Venice Film Festival, saying that it's just Coloney playing himself for an hour and thirty minutes or whatever, a mid version of himself.

Speaker 3

I wasn't I wasn't expecting the best there.

I've heard Adam Saylor is really good?

Speaker 2

Right?

What what did you think of?

Where are the other ones that were dropping this?

Oh?

Speaker 1

That dropped this week?

Where is it?

Speaker 3

Woman in Cabin ten?

Speaker 1

Woman?

Speaker 3

I like a good murder mystery.

I'm gonna watch Thursday Murder Club tomorrow night Tonight's Thursday.

Uh yeah, I mean I think that looks fun.

I got the book.

I said it to my grandmother this summer because I'm a nice Jewish boy like that.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I thought that was a good one.

Speaker 3

Uh.

Speaker 2

What's the other one that dropped this week?

We had a teaser for Secret Agent.

I thought that looked interesting with Wagner Mora.

Speaker 3

Is your grandmother still with us?

Journey?

Speaker 1

My grandmother?

Now, both of my grandmothers have passed on.

Speaker 3

If they wanted the Woman in the Cabin and will Woman in Cabin ten?

Speaker 2

Yeah, there you go.

I like Kieran Knightley.

I liked the trailer, and I look I've come around on her.

I didn't used to like her in the early days because I thought she was too much up her own ass, But after seeing Black Doves, I'm kind of turning the corner on her and I like that like the years have seasoned her as an actress, and so I thought this trailer.

I'm like, yeah, I would normally not have been interested in this ten years ago, but I am interested to see it now and see what she could bring to.

Speaker 3

It without referencing it.

Do you know Mike here and Knightley story?

Speaker 1

Uh No, I don't think I do.

Speaker 3

I'll tell you after the episode.

I love to have been able to share it, but people aren't cool on the internet anymore.

Speaker 1

Yeah anymore?

Speaker 3

So where's this?

Where's this magical world.

Speaker 2

Where people were cool on the internet.

I'd love to know when that world exists.

What do you think of Nicholas Cage's Jesus horror film?

Carpenter's son?

What the fuck are we doing?

Speaker 1

Jeff?

Speaker 3

I mean, I don't know.

It's him and Noah Jupe.

I'm always that's the thing.

If you're like a real cage like me, yes, agehead, just a cage junkie, you're gonna see it.

But yeah, it's like a fucking cheap indie horror movie.

What do you expect?

Speaker 1

What are we doing?

Speaker 2

Man?

What are we doing?

Speaker 3

Like?

Religious horror?

Does this like oddly well?

Speaker 2

But it's to me it feels more in the vein of like the Winnie Pool horror stuff and the Mickey Mouse horror stuff.

I mean, what what are we doing?

I don't know where we're going with this, but you know Nick's Nick marches to his own drum always, Bro, what did you think.

Speaker 1

Of the Sea Sue sequel?

Rode to Revenge trailer?

Speaker 3

That's the greatest movie I've ever seen, dude, not best picture two years in a row.

Speaker 2

Bro, I had a heart on watching this trailer.

It was so damn good.

Speaker 3

This guy is so talented.

I don't know why Marvel and DC don't hire Joel Murray Hollander.

Speaker 2

This guy is absolutely built for Marvel or DC.

You're one hundred percent right.

Speaker 3

Director is amazing.

You know, no one, no one wants to listen.

I sent his reps an email after seeing Se Sue and I was like, yeah, he posted this guy because I'm telling you, I don't see this very often.

Speaker 2

Right.

What do you think of play Dirney the shame?

Black film?

What do you think of that trailer?

Speaker 3

Was black movie?

You know, I'm not like, I don't really get the whole Parker thing.

Oh yeah, Parker is a little before my heyday, but it looks like a fun movie to watch on Prime Video, just like we all watched Heads of State and G twenty and all these other fucking Amazon action movies that you know, you are enjoyable in the moment and you'll forget a week later.

Speaker 2

That's true.

Speaker 1

What about is this thing on?

Another trailer?

Speaker 2

A little more extended trailer here for this one from Bradley Cooper?

Speaker 3

And that said, really quick, back just back to the Amazon action thing.

You know.

I got someone told me that they read The Pirate, which is that Jason Momoa Pirate movie we talked about, and they said it's fucking awesome.

Speaker 2

Really yeah, okay, raid on.

Speaker 3

The Pirate chip?

All right, is this thing on?

I thought that looked good, but not yeah, like amazing or anything.

I don't.

Speaker 2

I don't think Will Arnett's gonna put butts in seats, but okay, but it seems like he's playing a.

Speaker 1

Version of Bradley Cooper.

Speaker 2

The hair is almost the same, the hangdog look and the energy.

Speaker 1

It's just Bradley Cooper directing the.

Speaker 3

Movie, playing him.

Speaker 2

Yeah, he's playing him.

He just didn't want to cast himself because he already did my strong You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3

I just like the idea of them like swapping like roles, like this would normally be the Will Arnett role.

I'm gonna play that role now, and you're gonna play my role.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I'll play the groove.

Speaker 2

It looks like Mark Maron almost in that get up that he's wearing, which I think is hilarious.

Speaker 3

Yeah.

Speaker 1

What about the Hamnet trailer Chloe Jou trailer with Jesse.

Speaker 3

But beautifully shot.

It's gorgeous.

M it's so delectable.

Speaker 2

Listen here, listen here.

That amazing to me.

I loved it.

Speaker 3

Yeah, I don't you know, I'm selling to Shakespeare book.

Let me know if you wanted it just I don't know.

It looks like a fucking kind of boring period piece a little bit.

Speaker 2

You think.

So a lot of people are talking about this being a dark horse for Best Picture.

I've seen that on the internet.

Speaker 3

I've seen those reports as well, and Variety is really pushing that narrative, at least right now.

I don't know if it's because it's like, let's choose a movie that's not gonna win and like like give it the front ridder status that nobody wants.

It's like the war horse or something.

I don't really expect it to be in the mixt to be honest.

Speaker 2

Okay, all right, I just didn't know if you had seen all of these it.

Speaker 1

What's another one that?

Speaker 2

Uh?

Oh, all of it?

Speaker 1

Did you see all of you?

Speaker 2

One?

The one with uh what's his face?

From Ted Lasso?

Speaker 3

Oh?

With Yes, I did, I did that.

Actually, I mean it looks like a nice little romance.

They look like believable leads together.

Speaker 1

Yeah.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I'm curious to see if that's if that's gonna be a good one.

Speaker 3

Uh.

Speaker 1

And there's another Nuremberg teaser.

Speaker 2

I'm a little concerned that they're only dropping teasers for this one, Jeff, and not full trailers.

Speaker 1

Are they just afraid?

Speaker 2

What's the situation?

Speaker 3

Really?

Let's get some character posters going a poster?

What?

Speaker 2

Uh?

Speaker 3

You can't fall Yeah, you can't really use the traditional marketing playbook.

Speaker 2

For a movie like Nurremberg.

Speaker 1

Me is the Icamon poster.

Speaker 3

Paris Dickinson's movie Urchin or yeah, erkin Urchin's Urchin?

Speaker 1

Sorry, Yeah, what do you think of that one?

Speaker 2

Yeah?

Speaker 3

That looked okay, Yeah.

Speaker 1

I thought it's fine.

I think I might be in on that one.

Speaker 3

That kid's supposed to be good.

Frank Delaine.

Speaker 2

Yeah, but it says something that he's already moved on to to doing that stuff, doesn't it that he's already directing.

That's kind of amazing that he's already kind of opening the door to that as a young actor still on the come up.

Speaker 3

He's the kind of guy you should like keep an eye on for Bond if they don't go with a movie star like a guy like Frank Lane could come from out of nowhere.

Speaker 2

Oh yeah, I guess that's a good point.

Yeah, that could work.

Speaker 3

I could see that kid getting something big.

What else was god the lowdown?

Did you see that trailer with Ethan Hawk?

Speaker 1

Oh?

Speaker 2

Yes, that looked good.

Speaker 1

I was surprised.

Speaker 2

That looked damn good.

What did you think?

Speaker 5

Um?

Speaker 3

No, it looked interesting.

It looked, you know, quirky, like I would expect from Sterlin Harjo, the creator of reserv reservation Dogs.

Yeah.

Was Do we get a gaysy trailer too?

Speaker 2

Or I just saw that one this morning?

That one looks super fucking good man.

Speaker 3

I can't talk about it.

I stayed up till one in the morning last night.

I've seen half the show now I'm gonna watch the other half soon.

Shit it's a lot to be in gaycy Land.

Speaker 1

I need to get a I need to get a Peacocks I can't talk about it.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I need to get a Peacocks description or a Peacock connection because I saw that trailer and immediately wanted to start episode one because that look it looks really well cast, really well shot, and it looks like it's really going to explore, like how insane this fucking story is.

The documentary I watched a couple of years ago was amazing.

I can't bring myself to watch the tapes one because I just that dude's voice is going to creep me the fuck out listening to it.

So I don't want to watch that doc yet.

But this looked good.

This looked very good.

All right, Jeff, let's get and we've delayed it long enough.

Let's get to the James Gunn portion of the show.

What can we talk about here?

Going on from James gun with Batman.

He addressed this week that Chris Pratt will not be playing Batman.

He said, Chris Pratt Batman no.

As another thing, absolutely yes.

He also once again went in on the on the Batman situation being fluid overall about how he's approaching this whole situation.

He is saying, we'll have to see what we're doing with Batman and figuring that out.

So obviously we know what we know.

Sorry, we know some basics about where it's going with Batman, but we're also figuring figuring some things out, so everything is fluid.

Speaker 1

Your thoughts on this, brother, anything to say on.

Speaker 3

What is there to say that he's okay, he's not casting Chris Brade.

I didn't expect him to.

I didn't expect you you would repeat himself right after Guardians.

What's the other part.

Speaker 2

Of it that he said that the whole thing is fluid?

Speaker 1

Uh, and that he's.

Speaker 3

Still still fluid.

Speaker 1

Interesting fluid if he knew what he was doing and he made a big.

Speaker 3

Announcement, very interesting that things are fluid.

Speaker 1

Yeah.

Speaker 2

Man, So after this comment, because it's on screen rant and it's on YouTube, this interview did with him, to me, this feels like if you're still figuring it out and it's still fluid.

Speaker 1

Now, I know you could look at it on a macro level and go, well.

Speaker 2

You know, that's just what you say because you haven't put everything in motion just yet, so you don't want to say too much because you don't want to overcommit.

But he announced the Batman Brave of the Ball with the first announcement he ever announced to when he was head of more of dc So the idea that it's they're still figuring this out and that they have the basics down but everything is fluid, that to me is opening the door to more and more of this.

Uh, Pattinson being in the DCU happening, for God's sake.

Speaker 3

Never say never, Like, I don't know.

I'm just waiting for David's as lab to come put his foot down.

Speaker 2

I think he already has put his foot down, but he's but Gunn negotiated that they could slow roll that out so he doesn't look so he doesn't give ammunition to everybody who said Pattinson is totally going to be part of it, you know.

Speaker 3

So I don't know, I don't know anything.

Six people in the world know that thing.

Speaker 2

Did you see?

Colin Farrell was asked by Josh Horwitz if he's the seventh person to read the script.

Speaker 1

I thought that was great.

Speaker 2

That tells you that other people are laugh at that comment from James gun that only six people have read the script, even Josh.

If you have Josh Horowitz low key passively aggressively coming after you, you know that you've crossed that line into ridiculousness with one of your comments.

Speaker 3

And yes, we saw earlier, you know the clip that went viral with the person saying the interviewer at the junket being like, oh, Zoey, this isn't a question about Batman.

Yes, clearly that he even told don't ask such questions.

Speaker 2

That's my brother, Chris Killian over there comic book dot com.

Yeah, Chris is great.

I love his interviews, big, big champion of Chris.

And so that absolutely exposed what you were saying.

And I think Chris watches our show sometimes, so maybe Chris might have low key been reconfirming your scoop in his own crafty way.

So yeah, I know if people come after your brother, they have no idea how much how many connections you have on all this.

Speaker 1

It's so frustrating sometimes.

Speaker 2

All right, Oh, let's talk about your Kobe scoop.

Talk about this Kobe scoop that dropped over the weekend.

A biopic being made of about Kobe Bryant.

Speaker 3

Please Kobe, what the that was my two to four Anyways, I don't know which way it looked.

I was confused.

Yes, Kobe Bryant, big scoop, this was what I was been teasing for the last month.

Speaker 1

Yeah, and it was tough.

Speaker 2

Man.

Speaker 3

So I had JT's birthday dinner like breathing down my throat at five o'clock.

Yes, by four o'clock, I can tell you I had not decided whether or not to post it or not.

Speaker 2

Wow.

Speaker 3

Okay, and the fact that it was Kobe's birthday the next day a little bit maybe, But ultimately I felt like I had been fair to everybody.

Okay, you know, I feel like I had kept my word and kept at my end of the bargain.

And I honestly didn't think that all the trades would be able to confirm it so quickly on like you know that late on a Friday, right.

I think that was one reason I didn't hold it was because I thought, well, if I wait, like for a director to board this project, like by then it'll be in such good shape that the studio will want to like tell the trades about it, like oh, maybe I'm like, you know, sneaking this one past them.

But the trades all followed really quickly.

It was definitely frustrating to see like some of the biggest places like ESPN or you know, social or whatever it was, you know, crediting deadline or credit crediting variety.

But yeah, I think it's an in like leaving the scoopy bullshit aside, right, I think it's an interesting way to tell Kobe's story.

Before I talk more about it, John, what did you think.

Speaker 1

I love the idea.

I think it's time.

Speaker 2

I think it's you know, people have people Kobe's I'm gonna say this, preciation for Kobe has only increased as the years have gone past by since his death, you have people like Shaq and other people saying like, if you don't have Kobe in your top five, you don't know shit about basketball.

Like you're seeing a lot of people coming forward talking about the ferocity of Kobe Bryant, the talent of Kobe Bryant, the impact of Kobe Bryant, and so to me, I think it's a no brainer to make a biopic about Kobe Bryant.

Now are they going to deal with Kobe Bryant warts and all, especially around that rape acuzation and all of that.

Speaker 3

One It's not a biopick, it's not a biop.

Speaker 1

What did the articles say?

What did you say?

Speaker 3

You didn't read my article, Dad.

Speaker 2

Of course, but I can't.

It was a week ago.

What did you say on it?

Speaker 3

I said that this script with the Eighth Pick is about the two weeks leading up to the nineteen ninety six NBA draft.

So it has nothing to do with Colorado, It has nothing to do with Vanessa.

Speaker 5

It has nothing to do with the hell drop or crash.

Oh, I see, he's a teenager.

He's a kid, and he's like right, and all the hype that went with all that.

Right, So it's almost like airy focusing.

Speaker 3

On exactly, but he's not in the shadows like Michael Jackson.

Michael Jordan was excuse me, Jordan was in air.

He's definitely gonna have a much larger presence in this movie, like you know it will be an actor with lions and all that stuff.

The lead character though, because Kobe was famously famously drafted thirteenth and the movie is called with the Eighth Pick, so everyone's like, oh, with the eighth thick, Yeah, yeah, Kobe Bryant was drafted.

He was like, no, that's actually not what happened.

And that's why the movies I think it is interesting because it was about the Nets chickening out.

Now they claim that like he he like you know, bluffed ye, and they were like afraid to call his bluff because it was Cali Perry's first year there.

Yeah, as the coach of the Nets.

But the lead character is John Nash, the GM of the Nets, like you know, meeting with the with Jellybean Bryant and like talking about the terms of signing Kobe and ultimately they just didn't pull the trigger.

And it's like obviously a huge mistake that changed the course of NBA history.

He seems the game forever.

Speaker 2

But yeah, like I said, it's like air because that focused on son of Akaro, which is who Matt Damon play.

But you're right from your scoop obviously that Kobe is going to be a bigger presence.

But it's a way of using someone else into that person's story, right, like using Sonny to get into Michael Jordan's story, using John Nash, who was also general manager of the Washington Wizards for a while, to go into Kobe Bryant's story.

So I find that to be fascinating as well.

You know, yeah, people forget he was taken by the Charlotte Hornets first with the thirteenth pick and then traded to the Lakers.

Speaker 1

But yeah, the.

Speaker 2

Article said, you also said project is described having elements of moneyball, the social network, and as I said, air, it's it's detailed the pivotal process during which slightly different decisions could have changed the NBA's future.

What do you know about these people at Starthrow Entertainment, Ryan Stole for Religion of Sports, Gotham Chapra, Like are these I mean this is co founded religship with Tom Brady and Michael Strahan.

Speaker 1

So is this going to be very much a how can I say this?

Like a rising up of Kobe?

Speaker 2

A raising up of Kobe all over again, and this from an earlier time in his life.

Speaker 3

Again, I think it's a movie that yes, celebrates that he was great and that people saw it early on.

But you know there were obviously machinations behind the scenes.

Yeah, you steer him towards Los Angeles, and like, you know, his shoe contract was going to be worth a lot more if he was a Laker than if he was choosing net right, and that influences things like, again, what does it all come down to?

As we say every week, you're on that like money money, right, and Kobe gonna make a lot more money on one team than the other.

Speaker 2

Kind of love this idea.

Speaker 1

I always see what happens with that.

We'll see what happens with that.

Speaker 2

All right, Jeff, Let's move on to what we talked about focusing on the show here with we're gonna do a top five?

Speaker 1

What are we doing?

Top five?

Speaker 2

Our top five movies of the summer?

Is that what we're doing here?

Speaker 3

Yeah, sure, let's do it.

Let's do it.

Speaker 1

It's not a movie draft, right, we have because we have our top five.

Speaker 3

Movies, we don't need to always be competitive.

Speaker 2

You're always trying to win.

You won last time, which really work to me as I rewatched that too.

Speaker 1

That thing.

Speaker 3

Okay, so I really had six movies.

But if you'll allow me an honorable mention, I'll dish it out.

Speaker 1

Sure, go ahead.

Do you want to do it at the end or do you want to do your allomation?

Speaker 2

Now?

Speaker 3

I think I'll start at five and work my way down.

Speaker 2

Okay, sounds good.

Are you just going to save them all?

Or are we going one by one?

Speaker 3

We can go by one by one.

Do you have an honorable mention or no.

Speaker 2

I can throw in an honorable mention.

I'd get to that point.

Speaker 3

My honorable mention is going to be Weapons.

Speaker 1

Fuck off.

Okay, all right, what do you.

Speaker 3

Mean you think it's definitely top five or you think, like.

Speaker 1

One, Weapons is my number one movie of the summer.

Speaker 3

Oh wow, Okay, well, I really I really liked Weapons.

But you know, there are movies that I think I have revisited and will revisit maybe a little bit more often.

I don't know if it's like, you know, one of those movies where now that once you know, the mystery doesn't really hold up right to repeat viewings.

Speaker 2

Okay, all right, I.

Speaker 1

Think it does because of the performances, but that's just me.

Speaker 3

I see it again.

Don't get me wrong.

I think it's I think it's worth another viewing, but I just don't know if it's a movie.

I'm gonna keep going back to like some of the movies in my top five, And we.

Speaker 2

Should say, right like, summer movies are from May the first week in May to the last weekend of August, so we could technically qualify Roses and whatever else is coming out here this weekend, but I don't think they qualify necessarily for our list.

So all right, so you're not what's your number, that's your number five.

That's my honorable mention mention.

Sorry sorry, sorry, Okay, so that's your honorable mention.

Come back to me, Come back to me.

Hold on, let me see what I've got.

Oh yeah, mission impossible.

The final reckoning I would say is mod No Thunderbolts.

Right, Thunderbolts came out in the summer, right, so I'll put Thunderbolts in my honorable mention.

Speaker 3

That's that's worthy of an honorable mention.

All right, I'll go number five first.

Okay.

My number five is a movie I've already seen twice and I think does hold up to repeat viewings.

And it features maybe the best performance alongside Amy Madigan in Weapons that I saw all summer, Okay, and that is Jy Courtney in Dangerous Animals.

Dangerous Animals fucking rule.

Did you see it?

Speaker 1

I have not seen it yet, Dude.

Speaker 3

He eats that performance up.

He's a serial killer who kills like on the sea and feeds people's sharks.

Speaker 2

Wow.

I did see one scene where he kind of invites the couple onto his boat and immediately kills the dude, and she's just like an utter shock about what's happening.

That's a brutal scene.

Yeah, that's a brutal scene.

Speaker 3

That's how it opens.

Speaker 1

Yeah, who okay?

Speaker 3

Can It was like a can midnight movie.

There's only like.

Speaker 2

Three of those, Yeah, right next to Midnight Meatrain.

My number five is Fantastic Four.

I thought it was a damn good movie.

Definitely holds up.

I've seen it three times now in the theaters.

I really enjoyed that movie.

It's not as strong on rewatches, but it's still but that sequence in space is still crazy enjoyable.

Speaker 1

So that's my number five.

Speaker 2

Uh, what's your.

Speaker 3

Number?

Four?

Is gonna be Splitsville?

Speaker 1

Oh I've not seen that.

That's out theaters now.

Speaker 3

That is the funniest movie that I've seen all year.

I think, yeah, that that beats Naked Gun and Friendship to me.

Just a really really good movie from Michael Angelo Cabino and Kyle Marvin.

I'm trying to be posting an interview with them tomorrow.

Nice newsletter for all subscribers.

I just think that those guys are like so funny.

Do you know anything about what it's about.

Speaker 2

No, I don't what it's I just saw a clip of Dakota.

Speaker 3

Johnson, Yeah, and Adrian R.

Jonah, Like, you know, Adrian john asked Kyle Marvin for a divorce and then he winds up sleeping with Dakota Johnson and it like sets off like this chain reaction of like polyamory, and you know whether that's the right way to go.

Speaker 2

Wow, I kind of like it.

Speaker 3

A lot of line of nudity.

Speaker 2

Well, Dakota loves that kind of stuff, right, Yeah, all right, So then my number four is How to Train Your Dragon the live action version.

I thought that movie was so much fun.

I couldn't believe how much I enjoyed it, couldn't believe how much of a great interpretation it was from animation to live action.

Speaker 1

I thought the kid who was casting the lead was really good.

Speaker 2

The girl plays she was fantastic, and Jared Butler get rare actor who voices the character and then actually appears on screen is the character as well, kind of like Katie Sakoff with Boka ten and Star Wars.

I thought you did an exceptional job, and I thought those special effects were absolutely phenomenal.

Just so believable with what you were seeing.

Man, it seems seamless.

So I really enjoyed the film and it put a smile on my face by the end.

Speaker 3

I think that dragon's right in front me.

Speaker 2

Hey man, it's about the suspension of disbelief, you know that, all right?

Speaker 1

What's your three?

Speaker 3

My three has a one in it, and that's f one.

Speaker 2

Nice.

Nice.

Speaker 3

This one was really fucking good.

It wasn't top that never good, but just a goddamn good time at the movies featuring a goddamn fucking movie star name Bradford and Damnson interest was really good.

The school, the music was really good, everything of it, like the visually fucking just top of the line, old school Hollywood production.

Speaker 2

Yeah, yeah, I've uh no, that's my number two f one is my number two hundred agree with you.

Speaker 1

I really love the movie.

Speaker 2

It's not my number one because I there are things that I think could have improved the movie in the back half of the movie, that they could have done a little bit better, So I kind of knock it for that.

And I don't like how Damson Interests gets sidelined as the movie goes along.

So there's a criticism with it, but it is a damn good movie, and I thought Kerry Condon like it a there's a crime that Carrie doesn't book more mainstream films.

Her work in Banshees and a Sheer and her work in f One, for work in the Marvel universe.

I mean, she's just a damn good actress and so seeing her play a role I've never seen her play before like this, I thought she was essential to the movie's success, you know, so really enjoy that film as well, and the racing sequences.

Speaker 1

We're out of this world and very believable.

Speaker 3

My three then, okay three, because that's like, we know you're two and one at this point.

Speaker 2

Right, yeah, yeah, you do.

My three is Superman?

Okay, yeah, I mean, I come on, you got to put it on the list.

It is such a good film and such an enjoyable film, and as opposed to Fantasy four, it's one that you enjoy more and more in multiple rewatches, and you really savor how good that film is and the populist filmmaking instincts of James Gunn that come through throughout the movie.

Yes, some of the jokes don't work, some of the writing is a little occasionally wonky, and you have big questions about the Joel stuff.

But corn Sweat is so bros and hand is so great.

It's just a it's just a damn good movie, and it's a perfect summer movie.

And it was just a little bit better.

It would have made number one, but it's three for me.

Speaker 3

Yeah, yeah, it is not on my list.

Speaker 1

What No.

Speaker 3

I liked Superman, but it definitely was not one of the best movies of the summer at number two.

Speaker 2

I have two together.

You know that's out on streaming.

I'm catching up on all these movies.

Very fair enough.

Speaker 3

Yeah, I think it's gonna play very well at home too.

I would like to see it again.

I just thought it was a really effective little body horror movie with Alison Brien Dave Franco.

It really helped that they play a real life couple.

It says some interesting things about codependence.

Just an example of like elevated horror that really works in my opinion.

Speaker 1

What do you think about people that use that term.

Speaker 2

Some people get really upset when you say elevated horror, Jeff.

Speaker 3

They get really upset.

Do they get twiggered?

Speaker 2

They?

I don't get I love using elevated or because it's fucking true.

But people do get upset about that nonsense.

It's it's it's mind blowing to well, I got to see together.

That's that's a great point.

All right, So what's your number one?

Speaker 3

What is my number one?

Okay, this is easy obviously if you've been reading me all summer.

It is The Final Destination blood Lines.

I mean literally like just a fucking great time in the movies, delivered exactly what you want from.

If you're buying a ticket to Final this Nation Bloodlines and you come out of their disappointed, there's something wrong with you.

Delivers exactly what it said it was going to.

Yeah, super entertaining.

I had an absolute blast, and that, to me is the movie of the summer.

Speaker 2

Wow.

Speaker 1

Strong statements that we're going to get something big.

Speaker 3

Watch out for signing Lapopski.

They still haven't signed on to anything yet.

Speaker 1

The Final Destination.

Speaker 3

Guys, haven't you made like two hundred million dollars?

Speaker 2

Yeah?

Well, I mean when you when you're a success like that off a movie like that, you can you can take a little bit of a break before you decide on what your projects, what your next project is, all right, So for you, it's find us in the Assasian Bloodlines.

For me, it's Weapons.

These are two movies of the summer here on the wait.

Speaker 3

Good good summer for new Line.

Speaker 2

Yeah right, goodness, gracious shout out to them.

All right, Well what else?

Oh yeah, one last thing, brother, we should talk about this.

What do you think about this?

Ridley Scott says he's got his next film, says the Battle of Britain is his next movie.

In a new interview with a Guardian and he says he knows his next film is The Battle of Britain at the project that he teased last year.

It is not the much lay Beg's biopick, which was supposed to shoot this fall.

Speaker 1

Jeff, we talked, We've been talking about ad nauseum about that Beg's biopick.

Speaker 2

But Battle of Britain is written by Joe Penhall and tackles a nineteen forty air campaign in which the RAF and the FAA defended the UK against the Nazis, With Steve McQueen's Blitz having already somewhat to explore this historic event, Scott isn't waiting to see how there's handle it.

He says, it's my next film, but he also said in the same interview that he is working on Gladiator three.

Jeff, do we need a Gladiator three for Fox's sake?

Well, what do you think about Battle of Britton?

Speaker 3

You definitely don't need a Gladiator three.

Please, for the love of God, don't turn the next alien franchise listen.

As for the Beg's I would kind of like to see a Beg's movie, right, But as far as really, Scott goes like, I'm just glad he's staying alive, staying alive.

Speaker 2

Get out.

Yeah, fuck, no more gummy bears for you.

Put the back down, Put the back down.

But what do you think about this Battle of Briton situation?

Are people clamoring for a World War two movie?

Blitz did not do well in the theaters?

Speaker 3

Battles anymore, battles in Britain.

Speaker 2

Uh.

Speaker 3

This has been a lifelong passion project.

I think for him it's been going for a while.

Yeah, and he typically accomplishes what he sets his mind out to.

He's still fucking really Scott, Yeah, I would imagine that if he is actually focused on making this his next movie, it will get done.

Speaker 2

Do you believe him when he said, also in the same interview that he turned down a twenty million dollar feet to direct The Terminator three Rise of the Machines, or do you think that's more?

Speaker 3

I believe him, he's really he's lying about that.

Speaker 2

It's probably Bridley doesn't like the smell of his own farts.

So I mean, I would not be surprised if he's saying this stuff a little bit.

And maybe some of the executives who are around are no longer even in the business to baby counter and how many executives come out and.

Speaker 1

Go, well, the director is wrong.

We never offered him that much.

That madness.

Most people don't want to take that on.

Speaker 2

So Ridley can say this shit, but there's no way to prove this shit is there.

Speaker 3

Doesn't know how to lie.

Speaker 2

My friend, all right, yeah, he said he he asked for twenty million because Arnie was getting twenty million, and he wanted to say he get twenty million from the studio.

Speaker 1

And when they said.

Speaker 2

Yes, this is his quote, he goes, I thought, quote fuck me, the director said.

But then he realized he couldn't do it.

It's not my thing.

It's doing a James Bond movie.

The essence of a Bond movie is fun in camp.

Terminator is pure comic strip.

I would try to make it real.

That's why they've never asked me to do a Bond movie, because I could fuck it up.

Speaker 3

I fuck it up.

Speaker 2

I don't know.

We'll see twenty million makes sense.

But Ridley likes to embellished show.

We said, I've never met a director who doesn't like to embellace Jeff, so.

Speaker 3

Yeah, I can forgive him.

He's a goddamn sir.

Speaker 2

Heh, he is, sir.

All right, anything more you want to talk about, brother?

Or shall we move on to the questions what you're feeling?

Speaker 3

I think it's question time.

Speaker 2

All right, let's do it.

That Shadow says I saw James Gunn say something like we'll figure it out when it comes to Batman, and I'm just at like, how do you not have an idea by now?

Speaker 3

Jeff, don't ask us, ask one of the six feeble.

Speaker 2

Yeah, re read the script.

Speaker 3

Hey, I'm I'm I've said my piece on what's going on.

Speaker 2

I agree, I agree.

Wiley Tom says I don't like Johnny Depp, but just watching Fighting Neverland for the first time, and it's it's the best I've ever seen him.

Speaker 1

Fantastic movie.

Speaker 2

Oh, I agree.

I think he's so good in that movie.

I really him and Kate are great in that movie.

Speaker 3

Listen, and I'll say Johnny Depp was good in Finding Neverland.

Sure, I'll go that far.

But if you're saying it's the best you've ever seen him, Wiley Todd, the best you've ever seen Johnny Depp was in Finding Neverland.

Speaker 1

Come on, what's your nomination?

Speaker 3

Donny Brasco or Edward Scissorhands like a normal person?

Oh my god, it's incredible in Edward Hands.

You think someone else could have played Edwardans Yeah, Jim Carrey could have played No, No way could he have played it?

Dude?

That is insane.

Speaker 1

No, I cannot tell you I have seizopcuz no.

Speaker 3

Way, Jim Carrey my performance off at that age.

Speaker 2

Oh dare you how Tom Cruise could have played?

Speaker 3

Oh?

Speaker 1

Tom Cruise adversia Hands would have been amazing.

Speaker 2

Put that up.

Speaker 1

Uh, let's see Dennis Hoffman.

What's up, Dennis?

Good to see us as Jeff?

Speaker 2

Do they actually make a matchbox car movie by the guy who directed Extraction?

Speaker 1

Why would he?

Wouldn't a director like that have more options?

Speaker 3

He's got the option to make money.

Speaker 1

Dennis, Yeah, Dennis.

Speaker 3

They're waving a bunch of money in a check and flag and they said, come get it.

Umm, hey, it's John Cena.

It's you get to every guy likes to like make a movie about fast cars doing crazy shit.

Speaker 2

Yeah.

Speaker 3

I don't know what kind of makes sense to me.

Why don't don't be so quick to dismiss it.

We haven't seen anything from me.

Speaker 1

Yeah.

Speaker 2

Also, not everyone can be Ridley Scott turning down twenty million dollars for a movie.

You know, you make your money where you can in this crazy business.

Cloud says, on a road trip to Chicago for my chemical romance.

Thanks for keeping me entertained on this drive, fellas, nice, enjoy my good what's out?

Speaker 3

Good life?

Up to you?

Speaker 1

Fantastic?

Speaker 2

The fourteen says my Hey, hep, Mike, remember the herschel Walker trade.

Speaker 1

This ain't it?

Oh no, it isn't.

Have you been watching the Cowboys doc?

I bet you do.

Speaker 3

I watched it.

I watched it.

It was great.

Speaker 2

I know.

I'm six episodes in.

I got to finish it.

It's so effing good, and I hate the Cowboys.

Speaker 3

It's not just the stories that they have though, it's the way that they're presented.

Yeah, I really liked like the music and like the graphics and like, I mean, Jerry is also just like a fucking gold mine.

Speaker 2

Talk about a guy who maybe fledges the truth a little bit, there's Jerry.

Speaker 3

Jones, but well, like you know, everyone's like, oh, I can't talk about that, I can't talk about I can't it, And Jerry was like, let's fucking talk about.

Speaker 1

It, no problem.

Speaker 2

I'm surprised they got so many of the guys from that era, Dave Wanstead, North Turner, Uh, the forty nine Carmen policy, Like, it was fascinating to see how many guys Jerry Rice, they got to be.

Yeah, if you're going.

Speaker 3

To make something like this, you got to go after everybody you can get.

I don't know why anybody would have, you know, backed out.

It's just like the Celtics, Celtic City.

It's like a definitive piece of work.

Speaker 2

Yeah, Johnny is Oh sorry, A j Honey says, as the industry changes before our eyes, what's the biggest concern regarding cinema for both of you?

And what's the most exciting thing regarding cinema.

My concern is AI, Well, get over your concern.

But because that is only going to get bigger that it does not, that's not going to diminish.

Speaker 1

What are your thoughts, Jeff.

Speaker 3

Good question.

You know, AI, obviously it's a concern, right, but I feel like it's a little blown out of proportion.

And it's also I don't know whose clamor what's the market for that?

Speaker 1

You know, like, uh, teenagers that's the market for AI.

Speaker 2

Yes, it's like.

Speaker 3

I don't know.

I just okay, let me think it's the biggest concern regarding cinema.

Speaker 2

I'll tell you I'll go first.

Then if you're still time to think about it.

I think it's the rising disrespect moviegoers have for the movie going experience.

That's my biggest concern regarding cinema.

There's always gonna be good movies, there's always gonna be great sound, there's always gonna be great screens.

Speaker 1

To show these movies on.

Speaker 2

It's the fact that more and more people go to the movies to act like assholes instead of respectfully acting like human beings and having courtesy for the fellow humans beings when they go to these movies.

That stuff is on the rise, and less and less families are going to go to these theaters because they're dealing with these people who act like assholes in movie theaters.

And that's gonna be the big concern I have when it comes to movies.

Speaker 3

I think it's the old guard.

Speaker 1

Oh okay, explain what do you mean by that?

Speaker 3

I think that the movie industry needs new leadership and literally the same people who have been in power since I got to town twenty years ago.

I think we got to get some new blood in there, because it affects everything.

It affects the kinds of movies that are being made, who's being hired to make them.

To me, I just feel like a general safety out there in movies.

I don't see people making movies like Requiem for a Dream.

You know, since Arenofsky's movie comes out tonight, I've been thinking about him a little bit lately, and just people like really like taking big swings.

We saw the Daniels, obviously, do it win an Oscar win a bunch of oscars for fucking everything everywhere?

Like, have you ever seen the press shots that those guys send out?

Speaker 2

No?

Speaker 3

Why they're fucking insane?

Okay, if you like, go look up press about the Daniels.

The photos that come up with them sometimes are like they'll it'll be like them with their eyes or one of them with their eyes closed, like they're just like goofing.

And I think that you need to be a fucking like people need to be a little bit weirder and be not less afraid to let their freak flag fly because we need it takes all kinds, We need all kinds of different artists.

We need fucking Vincent Gallows of the world, a weird person to bring up right now, But like, where's that person?

Speaker 2

How can you do that in a time when everything is being monitored and everything is being like, if you make anything that's remotely anti establishment, there's.

Speaker 1

A big fear and concern from the studio.

Speaker 2

So it's gonna have to be the independent distributors, independent filmmakers, independent film studios that are gonna be able to make those kinds of movies.

Speaker 1

So I hear you, I hear you.

Speaker 2

I mean you think A twenty four is really the place to go and do that kind of stuff, But there are other smaller studios that are popping up, or smaller distribution arms that are popping up that can make that happen.

Speaker 3

So some guys who aren't for me John, like Harmony Krinn.

Yeah, what the fuck is Harmony Karin doing making movies with like babies and like not in in thermal.

Speaker 2

Vision, Like, Yeah, I'm just like.

Speaker 3

Dude, this guy, even though he's not my cup of tea.

It's the type of original voice that independent cinema kind of needs.

Speaker 2

We used to have it, right, what Todd Haynes.

Todd Haynes salons.

We used to have these guys that put even actually.

Speaker 3

Get financing these days.

John Waters can't get financing.

Speaker 2

No, David Lynch couldn't get financing these days from the hip of his movies from the beginning.

Speaker 1

Yeah, it's harder and order for sure.

Speaker 2

AJ Haunting says again, Today's my twenty second birthday.

Happy birthday, Happy twenty two.

I've been watching you guys since twenty fifteen.

I started film school two weeks ago.

Thank you guys for inspiring me since I was twelve.

Well, I'll be damn.

Speaker 3

Jeff, Happy birthday, broke.

But what excites you about the industry?

Though we didn't actually answer this, Oh what excite Oh?

Speaker 2

Sorry, hold on, AJ, Well answer other questions, of course, what's the most exciting thing regarding cinema shit.

I guess that we're still getting new voices popping through, even though, as Jeff said, we may not be getting the most rebellious Adventurers voices.

We're still getting new voices popping through creating some interesting art that challenges us as viewers.

So I'm still glad that that's still happening.

So it's that's exciting to me.

Speaker 3

The system still works from like, you know, going making an indie and going the festival route and then being tapped to make your studio movie and like, I don't know, it's just even though the like windows have collapsed, and obviously a lot of shit has changed in terms of like distribution, yeah, the like development, Yes, it's changed.

But at the same time, like you know, spec sales are hot again, right, Like there's spec sales lately.

Things are kind of coming back or you're just settling the dust is settling after the strike.

Speaker 1

Right, I'll throw another thing out there.

Speaker 2

I kind of like that they're finding new ways to show these movies, having the Matrix at the Cosmopolitan whatever that place is in La.

I know some people get mad about The Wizard of Oz at the Sphere, but it's about finding new ways to show these movies that take advantage of the current technology, and that's exciting.

Speaker 1

I don't care what people say.

That's exciting to me.

Speaker 2

I don't have as much of a hang up on The AI and Wizard of Oz as.

Speaker 1

Other people do.

Speaker 2

I'm just happy that they're fucking screening Wizard of Oz, that people can still go and see these classic films and enjoy them.

All Right, So I'll say this on your birthday, motherfucker.

We better be the first interview you do once you do a damn good movie.

Speaker 1

Let me just put that on the table right now.

Speaker 2

AJ don't have us go through your fucking publicist or a fucking team.

You come on this show and you do the first interview the second you do a big Hollywood movie.

All right, Reggie Brown says, is it time we readjust box off is numbers.

Four hundred and fifty is now five hundred, five hundred and six hundred hundred seven to twenty.

Anything over eight fifty is like a million, and a million is back to being the rare number.

I think it means a billion is back to being the rare number.

Jeff, what are your thoughts on this?

Speaker 3

I don't know about all this Reggie Brown.

But uh, certainly there that the studios need to revise their expectations for these movies, especially now they can't count on China and adjust the budgets accordingly.

Speaker 2

Yeah, okay, fair point.

Just a reminder, you haven't responded to my private chat.

So if we get to a certain number, I will be uh, I will be releasing something.

Max Low says, are the Safti brothers on good terms?

Speaker 1

Currently?

Speaker 2

They broke up the team and have dueling sports films.

Is this sibling rivalry or still?

Are they still on bad terms?

Speaker 3

Broker, I would veto that.

By the way, do that elsewhere?

Do that on another show?

Speaker 2

Okay, fair point, fair point?

Maybe I'll do that on the truth.

Okay, sounds good.

What are your thoughts on this?

Speaker 3

If you don't mind, Are the Saffies on good terms?

I have no idea what the state of the Saftes relationship is.

I mean, and just because they're not making movies together doesn't mean that they aren't, like, you know, talking to each other.

A family functions, right.

I think it is a natural sibling rivalry.

I think that that that's only natural, and it's probably been going on for many many many, many years, so I have no idea, but I have no insight as to where they are now.

Speaker 2

Yeah, all right.

Thoughts on Cody Hunts his thoughts on Simon Kimberg's comments about how his Star Wars movies will have a ton similar to and or an Empire, a balance between epic and intimate.

Speaker 1

Well, here's what I'll tell.

Speaker 2

You that I would That would be the first time I ever thought that about a Simon Kimberg movie, a balance epic and intimate.

So if he can strike that balance in Star Wars, I'm excited, but I don't necessarily have confidence that that's what it'll be.

Speaker 3

Jeff, I didn't see and or I can't comment.

Speaker 1

Oh, okay, all right.

Speaker 2

Max Loss says are are a Big Bowl Journey in one bet after another.

DA Both are expensive with not much promotion late September releases.

I think One Battle after another has a way bigger chance to make money than Big Bowl Journey.

Speaker 3

Jeff, I think they're both doa.

Speaker 1

Yeah you do okay again?

Speaker 3

Can't wait to see one battle little after another.

It looks fucking great, but they clearly have no idea how to market it.

I don't know if it can be marketed.

Yeah, and I think it's all right.

Speaker 2

Jeremy Gould says, Simon Byrd is probably a voice.

He's a brit comedy actor from a show called The in between Ers.

Ah Star Wars likes a brick comedian voicing a drou great show.

Guys.

Speaker 1

Oh, that's very.

Speaker 2

Possible there, you know, maybe there's your voice, Simon Byrd in between them.

Speaker 1

Is it the Scottish guy?

Is that the Scottish guy?

Oh?

No, it's a different guy.

Speaker 2

Oh okay, I think I've seen this dude in something, but I can't remember what.

All right, fantastically a question, is there any scenario where Marvel's Secret Wars doesn't release or gets moved if Doomsday doesn't perform at the box office?

What are your thoughts on this?

Jeff, No, you don't think it's gonna move at all, no matter what happens.

Speaker 3

With I don't think it's gonna move.

I don't think they have to worry about Doomsday at the box office.

I think it'll be huge.

Yeah, I don't think that those movies will move.

Speaker 2

Okay, what do you there's been a there's been a movie added in twenty twenty seven before Secret Wars.

What do you think that's going to be a lot of people are speculating what that Marvel movie could be.

A lot of people think Blade, maybe Doctor Strange.

What are your thoughts?

Speaker 3

I think it could be Blade.

Speaker 1

Yeah, bladest possibility.

Speaker 2

I think, especially if you're gonna set up Midnight Suns as a team in Secret Wars, you want to start it out in a Blade movie, I would think, Uh, Jim Burton says, Yo, Jeff, what the what the fuck is life of Chuck?

First act interesting?

Second act doesn't exist.

Third act just wants to give you enough of a bump to get you the hell out of there.

Speaker 1

Flann again is better than this.

Speaker 3

It wasn't my cup of tea.

Speaker 2

There you go.

Speaker 1

I haven't seen it.

Speaker 3

So it was amazing how when people just fell to their knees and again, you know, some of it is that these directors cultivate relationships of the as as I have mine.

But it's really just like, wow, it's funny.

Speaker 2

There, take it away, take it away, take it yourself over back in a minute.

Speaker 3

It's funny.

I went to a collider screening this week of The Long Walk, and you know, Frosty hooked it up with some tickets, and he's like, so, you know, like if you're coming tonight, like I have to be able to interview you after.

I was like, no problem.

So the movie ends and I'm literally me and my buddy the first one out of the theater, and I was like, I got to do this interview, like okay, you know, I can't leave Frosty hanging.

So he sticks the microphone in my face and see's just doing his job and he's like, what do you think?

And I found myself being more positive than I really was, and so I can see how you know, with the early reactions they're always more positive.

It's like this, you know, first wave of positive reactions, Like when I got into the car and discuss the movie more than my buddy, I'm like, yeah, like, I guess you're right.

You know, I think I am more mixed than maybe I said on camera in the interview.

So I just thought it was kind of an interesting thing that happened where you know, of course, when somebody sticks the microhe am I supposed to say, well that movie suck, thanks for having me, Steve Bye.

I was like, oh yeah, yeah, it was Listen it was that and uh yeah, I liked it, you know, when it was maybe a little bit disappointing.

Yes, Jeff is a show confirmed?

No, No, I was just oops, there we go.

It's an interesting phenomenon.

You probably missed it while you're taking a dump.

Speaker 2

I had a lunch with Dan Merrell today in San Diego, and that won too many iced teas.

I just deposited there in the in the toilet.

Speaker 3

But yeah, Dan, I just I was sharing an anecdotete about how the real reaction to a movie comes in the car ride home.

Speaker 2

Yes, sure, you know.

Speaker 3

It can't just like And that's why when publicists asked me what I think of movies when I leave theaters, I'm just like, oh, I'm not ready to discuss it.

But I owed Frost to a reaction because I went he went to a Collider's.

I went to a this week, and yeah, I just felt myself being more positive than I maybe would be in print.

And you know, that's a chance to correct the you know, I mean, I'm not even my video footage is gonna, you know, see the light of day.

Speaker 1

Yeah, well that's why I do.

Speaker 2

I don't mind doing out of theater reactions because people don't necessarily like, hold.

Speaker 1

You to those reactions.

Speaker 2

It's when you do your reviews later, when you've had more time to think about it.

But you know they're fun to do those reactions, but no one should take them like they're the actual reviews.

Matt Sister McCall says and Jeffanie predictions for Dexter Resurrection.

Speaker 3

Is this the finale tonight?

I don't even know how many there are, and I don't Dexter.

I have no idea if this is the finale or nine, but yeah, I'm looking forward to it.

I'm into the show.

I like it.

Speaker 1

Are you sad that they canceled the prequel?

Speaker 3

Not at all?

I think it.

So here's the thing.

Yeah, I think that Showtime would love to have a second Dexter show.

Okay, they're gonna bring back this one for season two.

Yeah, season two of Dexter Resurrection, and it'll probably feature more characters from the past, like I wouldn't, you know, be surprised if Jennifer Carber Garpenter showed up or whoever.

So they'll have that show.

And then they won a second show, but they didn't want three shows, right right, And I do think that the second show will end up being a Trinity Killer show.

Speaker 2

Oh interesting, Okay, you know.

Speaker 3

They announced that that was in the works.

I think that that is the intention is to make that, you know, do a couple of months on the air with that one, and then you know, four or five months later you do Dexter Resurrection season two, whichever one comes first.

Who knows, maybe one sets up the other.

But you didn't really need original sin.

That kid was okay Patrick Gibson, but it was like, yeah, how much teenage Dexter do we need?

Speaker 2

Yeah?

Speaker 1

To me, I liken it too.

Speaker 2

The Wallander series, for those of you who've seen the Wallander series with Kenneth Browna, they try to do a young Wallander series and the kid they cast just it was just not the same magic in any way, shape or form.

And I dipped out after the second season.

I had a.

Speaker 3

Girlfriend who's whose parents loved Wellander yeah at the time, and be like, you guys, want to watch some fucking Wolland It tonight.

Fucking Wolander.

Speaker 1

I just love his cell phone.

Speaker 2

No one else has a fucking ring like that.

Walland Matt Maker Studio.

I enjoyed the show earlier.

I enjoyed the show earlier with Steph on Christian Chandow.

You should steal her for your show.

And Steph was a lot of fun today.

So Bra so Bra.

Yeah, she was on the show.

Oh my god, he's the best.

We could ever convince her to be on the show.

We'd love to have her every once in a while.

For sure.

Speaker 3

I couldn't handle it.

I'd pass out.

Speaker 2

Drew Salazar says, loving the show from Austin Nice.

What are some classics that are overrated to y'all?

Speaker 1

Gone with the wind?

Speaker 2

It's always my number one answer to this question.

Speaker 3

I went the wind, Jesus Christ.

How about Mulholland Drive Bringer?

Daring to put Naomi Watts at number one of the twenty first century, which is only the kind of ravings, dark, raving, mad opinion that I might hear from one of the en house gentlemen outside of my home.

Speaker 2

I I uh am just shocked at that ringer listing of ranking Naomi Watson maul Holland falls.

There is nothing Noami Watch does in that movie that I haven't seen or doing ten other fucking movies.

Man, Daniel day Lewis, and there would be blood.

Speaker 1

That is the performance of the fucking century.

Currently.

A current century.

Speaker 2

It's madness to me they put that at number two.

And this is the problem now that I think I have with these lists is a lot of these fucking critics are pandering to be safe, like we gotta put a woman at the top, gotta put a black person at the top.

We got like, what's the fucking honest truth.

Daniel day Lewis is the fucking answer, and there's no question about it.

And it's madness to even consider anyone else as the number one choice.

It's just crazy to me.

We had the same thing happened when Variety just did this sixty What did they?

Speaker 1

What did they was?

Speaker 2

It was the best superhero I forget what was the superhero performances?

It drove me nuts where they had the listing of the show to enrage people, John.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I guess, but it's it's hearing is Yeah.

Speaker 2

The Ringer did it as well, the best superhero movie performances of the twenty first century.

And at number one they had Heath Ledger totally fine, number two, Hugh jackm movie number three, Willem Defoe number four, Tony Stark.

Number five was Angela Bassett.

But here's who they omitted from this list, Chadwick Boseman and Black Panther, what Margot, Robbie, Robert Patson, is Bruce Wayne this these are to me, it's crazy the decisions they make on all the Josh Brolin Astanos was an honorable mention.

So I man, it's madness to me on so many levels.

But whatever it is, what it is, man, all right, let's move on to Lobo.

Sorry if this isn't appropriate for the show, but you two have never been afraid to voice your opinions.

Speaker 1

What are your thoughts on Israel and Gaza?

Speaker 2

Go some no comment, go someplace else for that.

That's anybody who's trying to tell you they understand this situation, that it goes back to the fucking Bible, for God's sakes.

Speaker 1

You can have an.

Speaker 2

Opinion, absolutely, but you can all and I and I, but you can also say I don't know enough to comment on it.

And people coming after Alexander Payne for him saying that at the film festival I think is such weak saw ship.

The guy had you have a right to scream it from the rooftops, and he has a right to say I don't want to talk about it.

I don't know enough about it.

I don't feel I can have an opinion on it.

I think he has a right to do that.

Jeff, I don't know why people got upset at him.

You know, thoughts on the Savant trailer from Apple TV.

Jeff that Jessica Chess stain TROI we didn't mention that one.

Speaker 3

Uh well, it's hard to say when I've seen the whole show.

Speaker 1

Oh, okay, all right, I mean, are younger embargo?

Speaker 3

Yeah, it's good.

It's a good trailer.

Good trailer.

Speaker 1

There you go, Ray John.

Speaker 2

It's this first time I've watched the live hop mic so one in Sport.

Speaker 1

Thank you, Ray John.

Speaker 2

Also, any new info on The Housemaid or Ridley Scott's comments on his third Alien prequel.

Speaker 3

It's just what we need, more alien movies, more alien content.

We don't get enough.

Any new info on the Housemaid?

Uh yeah, I mean I don't know.

No, I don't really have any new info I saw.

I mean, is the trailer out there?

Speaker 1

I don't know.

I didn't see if the trailer's out there.

Speaker 3

I saw it at CinemaCon.

It looked good.

It was a good trailer.

I don't know if I've heard the best things about it.

But we'll see.

Speaker 2

Okay, thank you Ray John for sending your supportive but we appreciate it.

Speaker 3

Did you hear that Rajon Rondo Roca is the best fantas or flag football quarterback in the country.

Speaker 1

I did not know that, but no surprise.

The man is so intelligent.

Speaker 2

That's nuts.

Right.

So Smarty can read defense, has no problem, and he's a good pastor.

He's always been a good pastor.

Jeff Nia says, how is Mark Hamill in Long Walk?

Speaker 3

Jeff, he was good, but he just like you know, bark, He's not like you.

Might as well just be on a megaphone the whole time.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I, it's funny.

It's a good segue to announce that Adam Halavack and I are hosting a screening of A Long Walk here in San Diego next week next Wednesday.

If you're in San Diego, both Adam and I have tweeted out the link to get passes to come see the movie.

We are going to host a post screening Q and a discussion be about thirty minutes talking about the movie.

So if you want to hang out with Adam and I live, head on over there.

Speaker 1

To the links in our social media to see it, Lobo, how many?

Speaker 2

Also, how many Gaza war movies that we're going to get in the coming years like we got Holocaust movies.

I don't know, depends on how many they want a green light.

Speaker 3

That many, because not a lot of people would show up to that because that's that period.

Speaker 2

Lobo says Roca.

I was reading about Chavez Ravine.

It could be a Chinatown esque movie.

What Latino director would you want to make it?

Del Toro in Nerito quot on probably quote on And there's a fantastic plays that have been done.

Speaker 1

Was it culture?

I think Culture Clash is the name of the group.

Speaker 2

Like years and years ago, I remember they did a whole play on the distant the removal of the Mexican residence in the Chavez Ravine area, the Chicano Residence area to make room for the Dodger Stadium.

It's pretty brutal story.

So yeah, absolutely, I could see it being a movie down the road.

Max Laws has any thoughts on the anniversary of trailer with fieb A Dinah war any good buzz.

He's a good actress in my opinion.

I didn't see it, Jeff.

Speaker 3

I think it looks good.

Yeah, anniversary.

I'm looking forward to that one.

That's one with Diane Lane and Kyle Chandler and Jon O'Brien.

Oh okay, I like those kinds of domestic thrillers.

Be careful who you let around your family.

Speaker 2

Speaking of which, what do you think of Remicka de Morn's comments going after the the hand rocks?

Speaker 1

The hand the rocks, I.

Speaker 3

Mean, don't don't choke over there?

Speaker 2

But right?

Speaker 1

She said she was insulted by it.

Speaker 3

Insulted Why she should be flattered that's that her movie was deemed worthy of a remake.

Speaker 2

Hold on, I thought you knew, so let me bring it up here.

Speaker 3

Yeah, sorry, I don't.

All I knew is like when the movie would be coming out, like a betrayal.

Speaker 2

Uh to see this happening?

Speaker 3

Uh?

Why?

Speaker 2

She said that no one from the new cast or crew reached out to her about redoing the legendary film.

She said, nobody.

I found out about it, and I kind of joked that I was perturbed.

It felt like a betrayal, like how dare you has somebody else playing that part.

She's not boycotting the movie, though, she says, I'm actually kind of curious to see it.

To see if they can live up to what we did.

Speaker 3

So there you go spoiler alert.

I don't think they will.

I hope that they do, but I mean, the hand that rocks the Cradle is like a fucking perfect thriller.

It's so good, all right?

Speaker 2

That Shadow and Jeff any video game at Adaptation News.

Speaker 3

Do do doute no white video games.

Speaker 1

I don't know, Eldon.

Speaker 2

How about that elden ring situation with Alex Gord one hundred and sixty pages.

Speaker 1

Just get them to make him, let him do the movie.

Speaker 3

I like it, dude, He's committed, he's he has a vision that's honored.

Speaker 2

The man's true.

Doug Developer Award season is upon us.

I hope we get some close oscar races this year.

I'll share some famous close races, and y'all tell me which performance you prefer.

Here we go, uh Goodwill Hunting Robin Williams versus Uh Burt Reynolds Boogie Knights, Jeff.

Speaker 3

It's a tough one, but I think that the right guy won.

I think that Robin Williams deserved it.

Speaker 2

I'll agree, And you'd be foolish to give it to someone who's just shit on your academy.

Uh, Denzel Washington from Training Day, Russell Crowe a beautiful.

Speaker 3

I think the right guy won.

I think Denzel was amazing and Training Day and he caught a lot of shit for being on that ringer list as high as he was, but he is amazing that Yeah, agreed.

Speaker 2

Sean Penn Mystic River over Bill Murray lost in translation?

Speaker 3

Is that my oscar in there?

No, it's not Bill Murray.

Sit down.

This was Shan Pen's to win.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I'll agree with that.

Speaker 2

I think the better question is Mickey Rourke and the wrestler.

I would have taken him over Sean Penn and Milk.

But in Mystic River, Sewan, listen, some performances are so nakedly trying to get the oscar and then you just have to give in.

And this is absolutely one of those performances, kind of like Sandra Bullock in the Blindside, where you're like, just give him the oscar for God's so they.

Speaker 1

Can just stop already.

Speaker 2

Yeah.

Fantastic says Top five Summer movies Weapons number one, Final Reckoning, number two, Fantastic four, number three at number four, Nice Choice, and number five Thunderbolts.

Speaker 3

I'm really pissed that I haven't seen sketch and then I'm probably not gonna see it on the big screen.

Speaker 1

Yeah.

Speaker 3

I think there's literally one show time here in Los Angeles.

Speaker 2

It's lost.

The Little Yankee says, last star Fighter, making man do and Grogu meaningless one Kie, your commanders better squashed Dallas now while my giants battle him for last place.

I think the Cowboys is gonna be fine.

Man, don't find somebody else to come in that spot.

I just think they've they've got too much talent.

Speaker 3

The Cowboys be edited this year, though.

Speaker 2

Huh oh Yeah, n FC is competitive, Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1

Alise, he says that, guys, what is your top performance of the twenty first century?

Speaker 2

I'm sure it's not MEI wats from All all and dry, But if you had to choose a second to that, is it cheating to pick Gollum from Lord of the Rings?

Speaker 3

Thanks, It's not cheating.

I mean that is a hell of a performance, no doubt.

Yeah, Andy Serkis, I agree with Roga that you know, it's hard to deny Daniel da Lewis's work and there will be blood.

I think that is a tremendous performance.

I really think that Casey Affleck's turn in Manchester by the Sea is like some of our things like that.

It's like Brando esque shit bro that.

Speaker 1

Is a great point.

Speaker 2

That is a great points the I love him in that in that movie.

Damn, that's a great choice.

Speaker 1

Cody Hunt says I did not like Friendship.

Speaker 2

I like Tim Robinson shticking doses brilliant sketch for him, but in a ninety minute movie, no thanks, just got annoying.

Speaker 1

I have to say I agree with that.

Speaker 2

I think Tim is good in doses too much Tim, and I don't want any more like Nathan Fielder too much Nathan, I can't do it.

Speaker 1

Yeah.

Speaker 3

I think he's like the wacky sidekick in a movie, but I know he's like a lead in his own movie.

I did laugh out loud at Friendship a fair amount, but it did peter out as the movie went on.

I don't think it sustained its concept for ninety minutes.

It runs out of gains.

Speaker 2

Yeah, half Jeff Jesus Christ told on I'm just so mad you got me going on this now?

Yeah, Nomi wats they're putting on me Watts.

This is my clear they putting on MEI Watts over Daniel da Lewis over Philip Seymour Hoffman in The Master over Camp, Kate Blanche and Lydia and Talk.

Speaker 1

She's better in Tar than Ami wats Is in Mahome.

Speaker 3

For sure.

I don't get why either of those master performances are there.

Speaker 2

Really, Oh, how dare you?

Speaker 1

How fucking dare you?

Speaker 2

Man?

Speaker 3

I mean I could see them in the top one hundred and one, but the top ten now they put.

Speaker 2

Tommy Wats over Harvier paa about them as Anton Sagor in No Country for Old Men.

Speaker 3

They're trolling me with the very first entry on the list.

You remember who it was.

Speaker 2

On the list?

Oh who was one O one E g?

Speaker 1

It was, yes, Kevin Garnet and uncut Gems.

Speaker 3

Okay, it's like this isn't a serious list, Like right off the I feel like that's like the signal like, hey, don't take this too seriously.

Speaker 2

Yeah yeah, I mean he you're putting Amy Wats over Heath Ledgers, Joker Denzel and training Day Eisenberg.

Oh my god, in the Social Network the fuck out of And of course you gotta throw Kirsten Dunst and Mela Sometimes film critics are their worst fucking enemies.

Speaker 3

With like, what the fuck?

Speaker 2

Yeah, you're gonna put Chris Kirsten Dunt's Melancholia performance over DiCaprio in Wolf of Wall Street over Christolph Waltz is Hans Landa, I mean, Gloria Glory.

Speaker 1

Get the fuck out of here.

Speaker 3

This is a crazy This is the only led crazy people make lists these days.

Speaker 1

It doesn't make any sense.

Speaker 2

I mean, Tony Kollet's Hereditary I would put over that fucking Magnolia performance or whatever it was.

Speaker 1

So yeah, madness, utter mess.

Speaker 3

Everybody can make their own list, right, and everybody does.

There's a zillions of these lists across the internet, and I can make my own.

Two sure, but it said the Ringer wields much influence in the movie space, and you think that a publication like that or Rolling Stone Variety would take that responsibil ability a little bit more seriously and.

Speaker 2

Not let agendas get in the way of their rankings, because it's clearly that they did.

Speaker 3

It might be and who they allow to edit these things.

Speaker 2

Thingers mcnawis is one of the top three fall movies you guys are looking forward to.

For me, It's Delivered Me from Nowhere, tron Ares, Avatar Fire and Ash, Jeff.

Speaker 3

John, I can't give it up.

Where are the editors?

Why doesn't an editor and step in and be like, guys, are we sure we want to do Naomi Watson number one?

Are we positive?

Like I'm not out of a VTOL year, Like, what is going on in these publications?

Go on?

Speaker 2

Next question, isn't it shrown fantasy?

Who's the editor of this set?

It doesn't sean have the final say at the end.

Speaker 3

Like a problem with who has the power of these publications?

Speaker 2

Yea, they should have they should stay.

They should not be able to cop out with the Ringer staff.

Fuck you you got strong opinions and you want to do these rankings, then you need to name people and then yeah, name names, Say who was the final decision?

Speaker 3

Yeah, blame or who to credit?

I like Miles Surrey over there, I'm sure he was involved, but yeah, yeah, I Hey, I offered the Ringer of the Kobe scoop, but nobody gets back to me.

That's the problem with editors right there.

Imagine if someone if you were like an editor, and somebody offer you that scoop, I'd listen.

Speaker 2

Yeah, hear them?

Ount craziness top three fall balls.

You're looking forward to Jeff, do you have any.

Speaker 3

I'm looking forward to both Safty movies.

I can say that much.

Speaker 1

Yeah, Mashing Machine and uh, I'm.

Speaker 3

Sure there's other exciting movies coming big.

Oh, I'm say it for the Big ol okay k Biggie.

Speaker 2

Oh yeah, hers that no trailer yet, we were waiting for that trailer.

Yeah, I would say Predator bad Lands.

I would say tron Aries.

I agree with that, Avatar, come on, those are just movies I watch.

And the Springsteen film.

Speaker 3

Yeah.

Speaker 2

I would put the Springsteen film in consideration for that.

Thank.

Yeah, I hope that's I hope that's fucking good.

Speaker 1

All right, Where are we at here?

Speaker 2

Okay, Nathan Drake any buzz for black Phone two looks

Speaker 3

Oh?

Speaker 2

scary as lock?

Speaker 3

I didn't really care for the Black Phone we saw together.

Speaker 2

Oh, I couldn't believe that.

I thought we were bonding, and then Jeff said he hated and I was like, god, damn.

Speaker 3

I didn't hate it, but it was like a c for me.

Speaker 2

Salascali says, any chance of Ape Caesar trilogy on the Cinophiles, Yeah, I'm sure at some point.

Speaker 1

We'll get around to doing those.

Speaker 2

We're currently doing Jaws for those who don't know the nineteen seventy five movie There Jaws.

We are breaking it down.

It's gonna be our first, our first ever four party between the two of us.

So we're up to part three dropping on Friday.

That shadow says, who's a better director in you guys opinions?

James Gunner Matt Reeves.

I like Reeves way more.

Speaker 1

His apes movies were damn good, and his Batman.

Speaker 3

Were just setting us up.

I feel like, get yourself like, that's bait, mate, that's bait right there, mate.

Speaker 2

Well, I'm happy to answer.

I definitely think Matt Reeves is the better director.

I think James, but I think James Gunn is the more populist filmmaking director.

That is what I would say.

Speaker 3

I agree that matt Reeves is better.

Speaker 2

One's an odd tour and one's a populist filmmaker.

Nathan Drake, what what did you think of the orgy scene in Peacemaker?

Jeff, you don't watch Peacemaker, so he can't comment on it.

Speaker 3

Brona watch real orgies.

I don't watch these comic book orgies.

Speaker 1

Aaron Mansfield.

Speaker 2

As far as really, Scott goes like, I'm just glad he's there.

Speaker 1

You go, people laughed at you joke.

Speaker 3

You're laughing because you know it's true.

As far as really guy goes.

I'm just saying, right.

Oh, I see.

Speaker 2

Nathan Drake, I think Arnette will get a nomination for is this thing on?

Speaker 3

We'll see keep treatment?

Speaker 2

Uh Uh Nathan Dree Cowboys dog is amazing and I hate the Cowboys Lol.

Yes, agreed, Nathan worst Aeronofski movie Mother or Noah?

Oh, definitely Mother.

I enjoyed Noah.

I don't care what.

Speaker 3

Anybody Moah's good.

I like Noah.

Mother was unbearable, Yeah, wasnbearable.

Speaker 1

Noah has good performances from Russell and from Jennifer Conley.

Uh.

Speaker 2

And Ray Winstone actually playing a damn good villain as opposed to how he played the villain in Black Widow.

Speaker 3

So you know what I heard this week?

John?

Speaker 1

What'd you hear that?

Speaker 3

Nothing beats a jet to holiday.

Speaker 1

I'm just supposed to be doing something terrible in the background when that happens.

Speaker 2

Uh.

Kyle Wilson says more to combat predictions, moneymaker or noney make money maker?

If you mean five hundred and six dred million dollars, No, will it make it double its budget, probably Jeff money Maker.

Speaker 3

I think it looks good.

I think they spent money uh on this, like and they were emboldened by the first movie.

This one looks way better like.

The first one was like an appetizer leading up to a fucking tournament.

This one's hopefully gonna get fucking crazy, and I think they're having fun with the marketing.

Speaker 2

Ali Smithy says, shouldn't Ernie Hudson be offended by the hand that rocks the cradle?

Speaker 3

I was waiting for this comment to come up because I did feel it a little bit alan in the back of man when I said, oh, this is a perfect thriller, I was like, maybe not perfect.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I'm gonna say maybe.

Speaker 3

A little problematic in one or two spots.

So maybe is the answer to your question.

Maybe he should be Waynelton.

That's what Ernie Hudson would say, John to that to the remake, No.

Speaker 2

Yeah, exactly, Uh, surprise motherfucker.

Wayne Edwards says weapons and F one.

Speaker 3

He does not say surprise motherfucker.

Speaker 1

That was a dexter reference.

Speaker 2

I thought you would appreciate that, folks.

Wayne Edwards says weapons and F one were my two favorite summer films so far.

I had so much fun with both of those.

I still have a few to see.

Hey, Jeff, is the level of body horror together below or above that in the substance?

Good question?

Speaker 3

The difference it's kind of different.

Yeah, probably not as crazy as the body horror in the substance.

Speaker 2

There you go.

Yeah, I'm gonna find out soon.

All right, let's move on to these stream labs.

Sam Will says, have you all seen Mark Maren's latest stand up special?

Thoughts on him calling out Joe Rogan and his buds?

Yeah, I saw that, but I think he's going a little far now, going after Bill Maher as well and all of that.

It's like it's coming off like old man Matt at the young people type of thing.

And I think he's a great voice, and I appreciate him being on a certain side of these things politically, but I also think it's getting a little annoying.

Jeff your thoughts.

Speaker 3

I respect Maren as a comedian, but I don't think he's that funny, which is kind of why I listen to comedy.

It's to laugh.

And yeah, I just don't he's humorous.

He's a he's a humorist, but he doesn't really make me laugh.

Speaker 2

Jeffery says, Hey, guys, Jeff, you reported back in October of twenty twenty four that Sam Raimi was in final talks and direct Doctor Strange three.

Could this be the film release in twenty twenty seven?

Any development?

Since who's the writer?

Is raymy free?

Speaker 1

Now?

Since this new horror film has already finished.

Speaker 3

It's a good question what is Sam Raimi doing next?

I guess we'll find out.

I do think that, you know, when you look at all the movies that are have or that are actual candidates to have another movie outside of like the new stuff that we know is coming x men, et cetera.

Right, Doctor Strange two was the most successful of all those movies, and so it's only natural.

I mean, Thor's getting like how many fucking movies?

Like, yeah, it makes sense that they would make a third Doctor Strange movie.

Speaker 2

That's true, That's true.

Speaker 1

All right?

What is the next one here?

Speaker 2

Tim says Johnny buy how is the box office slit between split between Warner Brothers and Apple for F one?

Oh?

Speaker 1

I don't know.

Speaker 2

I don't know what deal they have together.

Jeff, do you know what deal Apple?

And Warner Brothers have over this a split of the box office.

Speaker 3

I mean no, but I imagine that Warner Brothers is just getting paid a distribution fee.

Yeah, but I mean so I don't know, like who who handled the marketing rights Apple.

That's That's what I'm a little bit unclear about.

Speaker 1

Yeah.

Speaker 2

So right now F one is at six hundred and seven million worldwide.

Superman is at six hundred and six.

Speaker 1

That's fascinating.

F one is beating Superman.

Nobody fucking predicted that.

Speaker 2

Uh, Doctor Kmitt says Jeff.

Should they remake Species, the Natasha Henstritch film?

Yeah?

Speaker 1

Could she become an influencer slash mon?

Speaker 2

And what if they make it a not rated release like Terrify or Toxic Avenger?

Speaker 3

An unrated Species is actually a pretty cool idea.

If I had actual power in this town, that might be something worth exploring.

If they did remake, it'd probably wind up like with Sydney Sweeney or something like that, right, signing up to that.

Speaker 1

In a heartbeat, maybe tomorrow weaving.

Speaker 3

Eventually they all reachmorrow.

Speaker 2

It will.

I mean, she's got two films out right now streaming, and I've heard nothing about no buzz at all.

For these films.

Samuelsa's NFL starts next week.

What team on the NFC and AFC side you got playing in the Super Bowl?

Well, I'll say this, I thought the Packers were dark horse already them getting Micah Parsons.

I think they're absolutely in pold position for the Super Bowl coming out of the NFC, AFC maybe the Bills.

Speaker 3

What do you got, Jeff, I got the New England Patriots.

Speaker 1

The funk out of here, Drake May.

Speaker 3

Rake May going to the Super Bowl, and I don't even know who's in the NFC.

I'm thinking about the.

Speaker 1

Drake may might not even finish the season.

What are you talking about?

Speaker 2

That?

Speaker 3

What?

Speaker 2

Teddy Rabel as his coach?

Yikes?

Uh Ri E.

Papermaster says, have you not realized that going on Reddit and reply to these losers bitching about you makes you just like Gun?

Speaker 1

By doing that, you are gunning it if you keep this.

Speaker 3

Hold you last week, James Gun and I have two signs of the same coin.

Speaker 1

That's true.

Speaker 2

You did say that there were more You guys are more similar than people might think.

Speaker 1

Uh, do you really want to support I'm not going to answer the last or ask the last part.

I want to hear it, he says.

Speaker 2

If you keep this up, they'll all be quote, they'll all be hashtag gunned down in an instant.

Speaker 1

Do you really want to support gun violence?

Do you and end violence?

Speaker 3

I don't even know what that means.

Speaker 2

That's why didn't want to read it.

Settle, it's good because that's what we do here.

Speaker 3

We don't censor ourselves.

Speaker 2

That's true, we don't, Uh says.

Have you guys seen the trailer for the Carpenters on with Nick Cage's thoughts.

We talked about that already Seattlekyo earlier in the section of trailers.

Speaker 1

Looks interesting, but I don't.

Speaker 2

Know what they're doing with this.

So it's Matt and Wayne Edwards.

Thank you, Wayne, he says, hello, gents.

After hearing your speculations about the plot for Doomsday, it reminded me of an amazing Doctor Strange Doctor Doom's story called Triumphant Torment.

Doctor doom enlists the aid of doctor Strange to save his mother's soul from hell.

Oh I remember that storyline, right, Jesus spent a long time I thought about that one.

I don't think that's what's going on here, but it could be something down the road because they're not getting rid of Doctor Doom anytime soon.

No, all right, Eric Kirby says Jeff Any news on the next Hunger Games movie, Any thoughts that direct about that director's overall films?

Speaker 3

Who is Francis Lawrence directing it?

Again?

Who is it?

Speaker 1

I'll take a look real quick.

Speaker 3

I like Francis Lawrence.

I like the Hunger Games franchise in general.

I didn't I didn't see the one with Zegler.

Speaker 1

Yeah, the most recently yet.

Speaker 3

Uh.

People, Someone in the chat mentioned Danny Ramirez is in the new Scarface move film.

Technically, he's in a scarface in the Scarface movie because that project has been in the works of the Universal for a long time.

But the original Scarface is based on a book that is in the public domain, and that is what Danny Ramirez is adamting.

Speaker 2

Good point.

Uh, that shadow says way were TV show trailer thumbs up or down?

Speaker 1

I don't know what Wayward it is.

Speaker 3

It's the Tony Collette show about I watched the first episode again.

Everything's under embargo.

I don't know why they.

I mean, embargoes are the worst.

Dude, you should be rewarded for watching a show.

Speaker 1

Oh, they wouldn't give it to you, Eddie lady, I said.

Speaker 2

Any rumors on what MCU movie is between Doom and Star Wars, I'm sorry, Secret Wars.

Speaker 1

We talked about it.

We expected it could be a Doctor Strange or Blade movie.

Speaker 2

It could be there.

Speaker 3

I just don't know what else could possibly be.

Speaker 2

Yeah, yeah, so we'll see, all right, anything more?

Speaker 1

Or shall we rather?

I think that's everything.

Speaker 2

We didn't get to the fifty five dollars super chat, so I'll have to keep this.

Speaker 3

Why not, let's go back and get it.

What do you mean we got time.

Speaker 1

We'll go back and get what.

Speaker 3

Oh we didn't get to the fish.

Speaker 1

We didn't get to it.

Speaker 3

Yeah, and they don't get the scoop.

Speaker 2

Speaker 3

Speaker 2
