Speaker 1

What's up everybody?

Welcome to a Monday edition of The Hot Mike here on the soon to be John Roka Channel.

I've John Roka, joined us always by the insniders of Aire Snyder.

Speaker 2

Hello, Johnny boy.

Speaker 3

How are you, my man?

It's Monday morning.

Speaker 2

Uh.

Speaker 1

Anything happening to you over the weekend?

Anything fun to report?

Speaker 2

Oh?

I can't recall?

Speaker 1

Well?

Speaker 2

Thank you?

Speaker 3

Yeah?

How are you?

How are things?

Speaker 2

Things are good?

I was checking to see what the AMC screen unseen is today.

I think it's Relay.

Speaker 3

Oh okay.

Speaker 2

I would recommend everybody goes to after this podcast.

I saw it in Toronto last year, so I don't need to go.

Speaker 1

But it's nice.

Nice And speaking of which, speaking of movies, we are gonna be reviewing weapons a little bit later on in the show.

Speaker 3

It'll be a spoiler review, but we'll give you a warning.

Speaker 1

But we're gonna get into some news topics ahead of time as well.

Of course, we'll try to keep the show to an hour, since it's a more of a secondary show here for the Hot Mic.

But send in your questions, sending your thoughts and comments through super chat and stream labs, and we will get to them as quickly as we can near the end of the show, So send them in because we don't spend a lot of time here on the show messing around.

Speaker 3

So let's get to it.

Speaker 2

Man.

Speaker 1

Let's jump into this first bit of news here, and let's talk about this.

This broke earlier today.

This is apparently happening Noah Centennio.

Apparently there is a package being put together here with him attached to star and CISIW director John Mari Helando directing a Rainbow prequel movie from Millennium Media, and Rory Haynes and Sora but No Shravani are writing this particular film, and the sources say the plan is to shoot at the top of twenty twenty.

Speaker 3

Six in Thailand.

Speaker 1

Insiders also note that there is no deals in place yet, but lions Get is the front runner to land the package.

Speaker 3

So, Jeff, you hear.

Speaker 1

Noah Centennio, You think Black Adam, You think a couple of other things, not really that well known of.

Speaker 3

A name, but becoming a well known name.

Do I like this idea?

Speaker 1

Do you believe this is a thing that's going to happen.

Speaker 2

I do think it will happen.

I think it was kind of inevitable they had to move on from Stallone.

Speaker 3

Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 2

What the appetite is for Rambo these days.

Rambo never really did it for me.

Wow, I think this is a good news bad news thing.

I think this is good news in that jel Maari Hollander is super talented.

I thought it was absolutely terrific.

I like his earlier stuff as well, Big Game, the one with Sam Jackson where he's the President.

It's a fun movie as well, So I like Helander like an interesting higher Noah, Centennio, I don't get it.

I don't buy it.

I don't see it.

Not not a fan of of this.

Antennio as Rambo.

Speaker 3

You don't see it in the face.

Speaker 1

You don't see that little uh kind of the soulful eyes at all.

Speaker 3

You don't see any of that.

Speaker 2

Him and Stallone, I haven't seen like the craziness.

Speaker 3

Oh yeah, I.

Speaker 2

Need to see some crazy, I think.

And I don't know that I've seen that from Nope, I haven't watched his Netflix show to be fair.

Okay, is it the night Agent.

Speaker 3

Or is that a recruit?

Speaker 2

I mean they're all uh yeah, Listen, this is a millennium movie.

This is an Auvi Learner's specialty.

This is taking advantage of the rights.

Uh Mine's Gate a natural home for this movie.

Yeah.

I can't imagine it'll be very good, but you know what, I saw the last couple of Rambo movies and they were fun.

Speaker 3

Yeah.

Speaker 1

I like the John Rambo movie, and I know I got a lot of shit at Collider reviewing it and talking to stallone, which was a life highlight for liking that movie.

But I thoroughly enjoyed that film.

The Thailand won a little or Burma won a little less so, but I like the John Rambo one, especially the director's cut, which had extra twenty minutes to it.

Speaker 3

Yeah.

Speaker 1

I mean he was good in Warfare, but right there wasn't that big kind of crazy moment and stuff.

I have never seen the Recruit, but I did like him in Black Atam for the limited time he had in that.

Yeah, this is an interesting combo because Centennio is an up and comer, and you would think.

Speaker 3

With the how can I say this?

Speaker 1

The buzz that CECIW got and people were excited for this director, this is an interesting choice to move into Millennium, which is not really known for making the highest quality films in this type of thing, and the fact that Stallone's not involved.

This is a second franchise that Stallone is kind of being moved out of right the Rocky thing.

He was really pissed off about how Creed three went on without him and was posting about it NonStop, NonStop, And now here's Rambo moving on without his involvement.

So what are your thoughts on that.

Speaker 2

I think Stallone is getting.

I mean he's getting he's old.

He's an old guy.

Like, what are they have to keep making Rambo movies with like a seventy five year old Rambo?

Speaker 1

No, but I mean he's not even a producer on It's like he's nothing on it.

It's kind of surprised.

Speaker 2

That's a surprised that he's cut out.

You'd think that he'd have that they'd have him on as an EP just to have him show up and give him his blessing at the premiere or whatever.

Yeah, but you know, you probably don't want him if you're if you're obay learning, you're probably not looking to make a big EP deal with Stallone.

You don't need him if he doesn't, if he's not contractually obligated to be part of it.

Yeah, yeah, move on.

Speaker 1

I like this idea Rambo the young Blood because it will be a it will be a prequel series that could be a fun rate to approach it.

But you know, listen, you're not going to catch the magic of Stallone.

Bro Stallone is a is a once in a lifetime actor.

H and he's got a certain energy you just can't recapture.

But maybe, just maybe a Centennio has got something to show us on this that they saw in the auditions.

We will see or this becomes like something that soils the memory of Rambo even more because in bramb did do it for me as a kid of the eighties, I loved it.

So we'll see, we'll see.

We'll keep tabs on it for sure.

Speaker 3

And then what you want to say on that?

Shall we move on?

Speaker 2

No?

Nothing, I'm just say okay, you.

Speaker 3

Know hear anything?

Speaker 1

All right, Well, let's get in this one.

This is massive.

What do you think about this, Jeff?

This is a paramount deal.

Apparently this is like they land that Timothy Shallow may situation there with James Mangold and now boom here comes Paramount inking a seven year METEA RTEs agreement worth.

Speaker 3

An average of one point one billion dollars.

Speaker 1

Annually with a TKO group to become the exclusive home of all UFC events in the US starting in twenty twenty six.

This is a massive thing to announce right off the literally almost right off the bat of them making this purchase.

So your thoughts on this, Jeff, I mean, we're not going to talk to UFC and the fights and all, but like more a matter of the power of Paramount now under Ellison's leadership, to be knocking out two big deals right off the bat.

Speaker 2

You know what that smell is, Johnny, That's the smell of Jeff Shell.

Speaker 3

What what?

Okay?

Speaker 2

Go ahead, Jeff Shell is running Uh, you know the company with Allison.

Yes, and this is a Jeff Shell thing I can tell.

Oh, okay, he sees the value in live sports rights.

Yeah right, you know, I think you know, Peacock had the Olympics and everything.

I mean, they're paying as much for this as they are for the entirety of Paramount.

Speaker 1

Basically, that's insane, right, one point one point one point one billion dollars annually starting in twenty twenty six.

Speaker 2

And it's not like it seems like that's the going rate for you know, live sports and for a growing league like the UFC.

Speaker 1

Yeah, this is also a way to get goodwill with people and attract on new audience.

Speaker 3

Look at Paramount.

Speaker 1

Look, let's be honest, right, Paramount has been leaning to a little bit red staid with the Taylor shared although I don't think a lot of Taylor shap shirt is just distinctly it's more like Purple State, the Taylor Sheridan stuff.

And now you bring in UFC, which so there's a certain section of the crowd that they're trying to bring in.

But they still have Star Trek, they's still got South Park.

So it's a good balance that you've got going on here with Paramount, and you're bringing more and more people into the tent, and what's a great way to have some goodwill with people who already have Paramount Plus, Oh, let's give you this as well on top of what you're getting already with our subscription service.

Speaker 3

So I think it's smart all around, and.

Speaker 1

This may be a way to revitalize UFC and make it more of a mainstream conversation like it used to be back when Connor was doing or before Connor, other people were doing it.

Speaker 3

It's not quite as.

Speaker 1

Mainstream now as it was before, so this could be a wise move to do it.

Speaker 2

Oh, it takes it right.

You gotta have stars.

I'm not talking about the cable network.

I think that you know, Paramount Plus being the home of all these macho shows too.

It's like, you have this young male audience.

Yes, it's time to serve that audience.

And I think that that is also a little bit of what UFC is about.

It helps define and Paramount Plus a little bit.

Yeah, and give that brand some identity.

Uh so, yeah, planning to write about that tonight.

Just you know, again, with between that and the Timothy shallow May deal and the south Park deal, it's like, yeah, clearly Ellison is coming in and eager to spread spread that cash around.

He's probably been planning this for a long time now.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I have to have been Yeah, you know, you don't make a deal with UFC overnight, but absolutely agree with you.

But it's it's fascinating because CBS used to be the network of old people, right, that's the that was the moniker on CBS for a long time.

But now you've got CBS probably still with that with some of their sitcoms that are like a little more of the safer sitcoms.

But then you move into Paramount Plus, it's a whole different thing.

It's got a different energy to it.

Your said, appealing much more to the young male demographics.

So they're able to serve both masters, the older and the younger.

So it's a smart move, you would say, overall, for what Paramount is doing.

So I'll be curious to see if these other shows, like The Agency, these more thought provoking shows, if they survive and if they get pitched and made with this version of Paramount Plus, we will see Tayler Sheridon, Taylor sherinon can only write so many shows, Jeff.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I mean agreed.

You know he's probably spread tooth in as it is.

Yeah, again, this can only benefit Paramount Plus.

I do feel like, yeah, it's a high price, but the prices is fair.

You're just the long term contract of it all.

Speaker 1

Yeah, absolutely, all right, We've got four hundred people joining his live Jeff, let's get into the meat of this of this show today.

Let's talk about this over the weekend.

You know you posted on your newsletter you didn't break it here on the how high you broke it on your newsletter that you had seen you'd heard from people who've read this Batman Part two script and that quote it was worth the weight, and the script is taking quote big swings, and you said that it had a Robin in the script and almost I don't almost Immediately James Gunn responded by the way that the original post on threads has been taken down by the person.

But James gun responded saying, guys, please stop believe in this nonsense.

I think six of us have read the script.

No one knows anything about the Batman too.

This is the hot bike Jeff, So please, what are what's your I know?

You responded back on Twitter saying a category that deny, But what more do you want.

Speaker 3

To say on this and what happened?

Speaker 2

I mean, are you sure it's six James or seven?

Speaker 3

Wasn't it four?

Who knew his plans?

Speaker 2

Eight?

I mean, that's the thing.

This is what I love about these These people say, oh, these people don't know anything.

If they if they know, it's just a guess, Like, yeah, listen, I know who my sources.

I know my source has been right about a whole bunch of stories that have been confirmed this week.

Yeah, same source as half the stories that's done the last couple of weeks.

So I know that Marvel denied that Robert Downey Junior was Doctor Doom.

Speaker 3

I remember that.

Speaker 2

I know that these people deny things that are true all time.

I know that if it doesn't serve their interest, and today is Monday, James Gunn will say this is nonsense.

It's not Monday.

That's not in his interests for the converment.

I mean, unfortunately, James Gunn has proven himself to be about as trustworthy as Lance arms Strong in my book.

I don't believe a word out of his mouth.

I don't care either way.

I mean, first of all, how many people were like, oh, it's probably not Robin, it's probably Dick Grayson or you know who, Like it could just be a technicality that he's denying.

I felt like the denial part of it was just like, don't believe any nonsense about like the general impressions that my source had heard about the script.

I don't like if they'd read it themselves, I think I they know people who have read it.

I think there are assistants who have read it, and assistants talk and things of this nature, and that is one of the things I was told unequivocally, Robin's in the script.

You know, for all I know, Matt Reeves and James Gunn are still fighting about what's in the script, right, I mean, you know, if this was Matt Reives's thing, I want to do Robin and do Robin Wright because literally not Robin write the actress.

Uh Robin, you know justice, because he's never been done justice on the big screen before.

Agree, and James gun is like, oh well, I was kind of planning on using you know, Robin and my Batman movie or whatever, like, who knows if these two are going at each other.

I mean it's hunky dory.

We all, you know, we all sing Kumbaya.

You can believe that if you want, I do not.

But yeah, to me, we haven't seen Robin since what the Chris O'donald Days, Like, what the fuck are they waiting for?

When I was a kid, someone was Batman and someone was Robin right when you were playing with your friends, one he had to be one, and one he had to be the other.

And it's crazy that he's We've gone this long with all these Batman movies and barely ever seen Robin certainly never gotten to good Robin, so I think it would make sense for it to be in the script.

I think Matt Read's set up things in The Batman that would potentially introduce Robin.

It passed my smell test, and I don't give a fuck what James Gunn says anymore.

This guy is the most annoying studio ed I've ever heard of, or met, or seen or anything.

I don't think it's winning him any fans.

I don't think it's winning the fans on the Warner Brothers a lot where I know people find him and his antics to be annoying.

Really, bro, your movie is maybe probably going to get to six hundred million dollars, right, take that w if we want to call it and shut up?

Okay, shut up, Go focus on reading scripts and making movies and TV shows, because it seems like you get paid a lot of money to spend a lot of time on Blue Sky and Threads.

Just don't like you don't need to weigh in on that little thing unless you feel like you need to.

I feel like you maybe didn't get the message of your own movie in that case, right, So much as oh, ignore, ignore, the negativity.

Bro, I'm just trying to fucking I'm just repeating what I hear at a dinner, Okay from someone who's in a pretty good position in the industry.

That person's garbage.

Fine, But for you to go on and say, oh, well, this is nonsense and basically, you know, ruin my reputation, use your platform to ruin my reputation, just like Searchlight did this week, which is total bullshit.

Speaker 3

Oh what happened there?

Speaker 2

The story?

It's just they don't These people don't care.

They're out to protect their asset, just like doomsday, right they that is what they care about.

They don't care about telling millions of people Jeff Snyder is a liar.

Don't believe Jeff Snyder or people fucking community notes on Twitter?

What does the fucking community know?

I work in the news business.

The whole point is that you don't know it's news.

So how is the fucking community gonna note me to death?

What fuck do you know?

It's fucking insane out there, and the way that just like the way that you know, I'm not some fucking nobody.

Speaker 1

Bro right, right, No, I know this, and this is what I try to tell people all the time because a lot of people who are who watch a show or who comment on social media, who literally have almost no contacts, they don't go and have lunches and meetings and drinks and dinners in town with people who are executives, producers, creatives, assistants.

Speaker 3

That's the thing.

Speaker 1

I've known Jeff a long time, and Jeff is really good at like sometimes finding these executives.

Speaker 3

On the come up.

Speaker 1

It establishes a strong relationship with them, and then eventually you've got this back and forth in conversations.

Assistants are in on everything.

Here's how it works with an assistant.

I was an assistant for six months as attempt.

Speaker 3

You roll calls.

Speaker 1

When you roll calls, you were on the calls with the with the director, with the writer, with the producer, with the studio head, and you are making notes and you think all those twenty year olds thirty year old sorry, twenty to twenty thirty year olds are not like talking about it at a bar with a bunch of friends the ship they heard you're out of your fucking mind.

Okay, no, they're all, yeah, they're signing NBA's but then they're was like, I just keep this under your hack, keep this on your hat, and then they tell what's going on.

So it's nonsense to think only six people have read this.

Speaker 2

Really, he sounds like Trump.

He just sounds like I mean somebody, yeah, wrong, wrong, wrong.

Speaker 1

People got mad when I said that, But there are Trumpian aspects to what he's really dude.

Speaker 2

I wish I could show you the image that I created for the newsletter on Friday that Jamie made me delete.

Jamie is the only person who got to copy of that newsletter because I sent it to him and he read it and he was like, listen, you can't.

Speaker 3

Jamie's saying you can't put it.

Speaker 2

Godes Y.

He does prevent me from making those kinds of mistakes.

But I was fucking pissed on Friday.

I mean, obviously, even I let it go on Friday night, John Right, I was like, all right, I'm gonna just fucking drop it and take the high road and keep my mouth shut and be the bigger man.

And then on Saturday morning, I woke up and I saw that Variety and Deadline had picked up the story because that's what they do on the week.

Speaker 3

Yeah.

Speaker 2

No, they didn't have to though, right, they do it on the weekends when news is slow and they pick up, you know, kind of frivolous stories that will drive traffic.

And I was like, so j Penske thinks that he's going to make money off my embarrassment or if I'm completely wrong, we'll call it a fuck up.

Okay, japens he's gonna make money off that.

No, I want to make money off Jay Penske's embarrassment.

And then I posted his mug shots for the world to see and got hit by a bus tomorrow, but got hit by a Penske truck.

Those pictures die with me because nobody else has them right, and now the whole fucking internet has them.

I hope it's worth it billionaire for that quick traffic.

Because we had to rub it in just the face that that.

James Gunn issued a complete non denial denial.

All he had to say is Robin's not on the script.

Instead, it's don't believe not this guy's nonsense or whatever the bug it was.

Yeah, it was on Twitter and say to my face, bro, you're fucking hiding behind Blue Sky and Threads and all these bullshit b list fucking platforms.

Come on Twitter and be a big man.

Speaker 1

Well, but what it is is that it's it's about playing to the crowd, and that's what he's doing.

Speaker 3

Right.

Speaker 1

The fans who don't know any better, A lot of the fans who don't know any better will side with him because James gon has done their Superman and he's they're worshiping him.

And in a way, it is like that, right, It is a very trumpy and maga type.

Now I'm not saying people are maga.

I'm not saying them.

I'm just saying the devotion that they have cult leader to cull member, whatever it may be.

Like, it's that kind of thing.

And so playing to the crowd is a standard tactic to do.

Like, oh, like we've seen over the last few years, screw the critics.

The fans speak the truth.

The fans know what's up.

The fans will tell you it's all of that stuff.

And you create division on purpose.

And it's the same thing happening here.

The last thing James wants is all his entire script to be leaked and all the story elements to either.

Speaker 2

By the way, yeah right, A six becomes twelve, becomes twenty four, becomes forty eight.

Guess what more?

People I know are gonna read that fucking script and I'm gonna fucking leak every goddamn fucking thing I hear about it because he's an asshole.

Okay, Matt Reeves doesn't behave like this, No, Matt Reeves.

I'm totally cool with no beef with Matt Reeves.

Well, James Gunn, you want to fucking damn's bro, what can you do to me?

You can't do fucking anything to me, whereas I can rip your fucking unifort versus apart.

So watch yourself, my friend.

Speaker 1

Well, I like this other comment underneath and said, it's kind of strange that you contradicted Daniel RpK about Ultraman being a villain in the Superman movie, and in the end he was in the.

Speaker 3

Superman movie, you know.

Speaker 1

And the thing is, you can backtrack and you can change, you can adjust no one's look.

Look, I know a lot of people came after James Gunn, and a little bit me too as well as like, I've got all the plans for Phase one, and then how many of those films are we going to see?

Speaker 2

What two?

Present?

The whole day of a fucking pony show that became a fucking jerk Ov shows all nonsense, right, James Gunn And.

Speaker 1

That's okay, Like it's okay to adjustin pivot and you know you don't thinks what's available, it's not available.

It's totally fair, right, But I think when you start to say things like nobody else knows anything, it's nonsense, as if somehow this is the only property ever in the history of Hollywood that has been on lockdown like this, You're insane.

All of this stuff gets talked about, all of this stuff.

There is no magic lock box that the script goes in and no one knows about.

Because if there's one thing about Hollywood, everyone, not everyone, but a lot of people got loose lips, and a lot of people in power got loose lips, and a lot of people And if you if people don't like you, they are gonna have loose lips.

Speaker 3

Like if you have a.

Speaker 1

Bad reputation in Hollywood as an executive, as a creative, there's gonna be loose lips.

Even though why stuff, It wasn't like he started, you know, assaulting women all of a sudden, and people.

Speaker 3

Were just like wait, what, No, there have been whispers, there been.

Speaker 1

Talks, people had known about it for years, and so those things happen in Hollywood.

Speaker 3

People don't like you.

Speaker 1

They will absolutely out your shit because they don't care and they don't So what you say to me, the Warner Brothers say, if I put two and two together, if he's not liked on the lot, then there are people who have access to the script on the lot who might be leaking stuff or talking to people, and then the information is getting out there.

Speaker 2

So it's just someone who's read the script.

And you're right, James, I don't know anything.

I never said I've read the script and I'm seeing it with my own eyes.

I don't know, Okay, I'm hearing and I'm hearing it from someone who's reputable, someone credible.

Someone has a reporter who I've just deemed credible.

Why because they have dozens of not hundreds of stories that have been confirmed.

So I mean, even if I didn't have that sort, saying Robin is in a Batman movie should be a fifty to fifty toss up thing.

You can just you could just guess that correctly, like this shouldn't be Like this is a fucking crazy thing to suggest.

Speaker 1

There's an angle you brought up that is fascinating too, Like if Matt Reeves and James Gunn are still negotiating about whether Robin's gonna appear in there in Batman Part two or not are going to be in his universe.

Speaker 3

You kind of blew that up.

Speaker 1

By mentioning that Robin is in uh the mac Matt Reeves script.

So now if Robin doesn't show up, Robin does show up and James Gunn, there'll be questions about it overall how this all went down, and if stuff gets leaked in some way, you know, you'll find out what the truth is about the Robin stuff.

Speaker 2

So, yeah, it's high time that we get a good Robin on the screen.

I don't know James Gunn has some big master plan for Robin, you know, I don't.

I don't know what it is.

I know he plays a big role in Braving the Bull.

But isn't that the Damian Wayne version?

Speaker 3

Yes, it's not.

It's not the Dick Grayson version.

Speaker 2

These are things I've learned after being yelled at all week version.

Why can't there be the Dick Grayson version?

Speaker 3

Could the original the og?

Yeah?

Speaker 2

I just you know, James gun Yan not a fan right now, buddy, not a fan, and it makes no sense to have me as an enemy, makes it just why would you do that.

Speaker 1

I think we should put the call out to James Gunn to come on the hot Mic for an interview, like yeah, you know, let's let's have him on and then we can you know, I think James loves to battle.

Speaker 3

I think he enjoys the.

Speaker 1

Back and forth, and so coming out of troll, he's no wallflower, he's no lily.

Speaker 3

He can battle.

Speaker 1

So come on the show, let's have it back and forth, let's hear what the truth is, and then we could all come out of that situation with a little bit of more of understanding of what's going on and possibly even some more respect about the positions everyone was coming from in this kind of stuff, because I agree it was kind of a passive, aggressive, take a shot at you to try to kind of denigrate your credibility by saying a thing because.

Speaker 2

I know you guys think maybe I'm some big scooper or something.

I have fifty five thousand followers on Twitter and less than a thousand paid subscribers, Like this is a guy with how many millions of people on his platform?

Okay, you want to punch down, buddy, bring it on.

I'll punch up every day, all day long on your every movie at DC.

Like it's just I don't, it doesn't make sense.

Same thing with Nicky Fink, with Harry Knowles.

Go back through the start of time.

Bring these people into the fold.

You don't want to make an enemy of these people.

Speaker 3

Yeah, and Scoopers have been around.

I've said this.

Speaker 1

Scoopers have been around since the nineteen thirties with head of Hopper and all the people like they there, Scoopers have been around for him.

Speaker 2

I'm going to be doing this John longer than James Gun is gonna be running DC.

I'll tell you that right now.

Speaker 3

Probably probably one last thing I don't.

I don't.

Speaker 1

We've talked to James Gun a lot, but I want to talk was last thing he tweeted out here he said or put on threads.

People on line keep saying the Superman needs to make six to fifty million to break even and be a success.

Is that true or would you say it's already a success?

Huge fan of the movie, by the way, And then James responded, absolutely false.

Anyone's saying that, doesn't anyone saying that doesn't have an understanding of the film business, and we would idiots to make a first in a franchise film that would need to make that much.

Speaker 3

To be profitable.

Speaker 1

I Jeff, I find this to be a fascinating thing.

The six fifty I agree.

I don't think it needs to make six to fifty probably to break even.

But of course the original estimate was three hundred and twenty five million, but that was knocked down apparently for whatever reasons, tax breaks, whatever.

But like thinking that you're okay with it barely making six hundred, I think that's a little I don't know, man, I think that's a little crazy.

Yes, it did the job of goodwill, But I feel like a Superman movie in this day and age, you're making seven hundred, eight hundred million.

Speaker 2

I mean, I'm completely with you on the seven hundred to eight hundred range.

I think that this movie it's it's it disappointed my expectations, But I can see a world where James's argument is legit.

Okay, if it's right, I think it'll get to it's it's like five seventy or five eighty right now, let's just call it six hundred.

So you're getting three hundred of that and then you're getting another hundred right yeah, oh sorry, sorry, ut agent, So you're getting another one hundred from ancillaries, from you know, the value that it has to HBO Max and PVOD and merch sales and airlines and hotels all that shit.

Let's just call it one hundred.

So now you've made four hundred million, right, and you spent let's say it's two twenty five that's what they claim.

Yeah, and let's say it's one twenty five for marketing or one fifty, right, then you're at three fifty three seventy five for the spend you broke even you made money on it, right, right, and people seem to like it, including mister hater me, yeah, and me.

So that is sort of the cost of starting this universe off on the right foot or whatever.

I do think it will be profit.

But is this like a fucking win like where you can go on the internet and say whatever the fuck you want?

No, it's not.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I just cause everybody idiots are not like understanding the complexities of film finance as if like film finance is literally not the most confusing thing in the entire world.

Yeah, Okay, like it makes no sense.

It's all fucking smoking mirrors.

A studio count is like the most evil mastermind you can even think of in your head.

Speaker 1

Yeah yeah, I mean it's it's a fascinating thing because it doesn't seem to me.

Yes, it'll turn a profit, but it ain't gonna turn the profit that you want a film like this to turn, you know, And I think in the end that's what's going to kind of bite it in its ass a little bit.

But I mean, I think it's the international numbers are disappointing, you can't deny that, but it's offset by how well the domestic numbers went.

And it certainly has surpassed any other Superman movie domestically, so it has that feather in its cap.

But the fact that it's not going to crawl Man of Steel numbers at six seventy, I think is a little bit of a negative for it, and it's fair to call that out for it.

Speaker 2

So all right, Uh, I really wanted to spend time picking apart every fucking thing James Gunns said.

I could do it and have a field day doing it.

Speaker 1

Fair point, fair point.

Speaker 2

So let's just you respect me.

James Gunn and I'll respect you, Brad.

I don't understand the need to police the internet.

I'm trying to make a fucking buck.

If you don't want me to make a buck, get the trades to hire me again.

I'll go back to their ass for twenty grand a year.

Speaker 3

All Right, there we go.

That That ends the James gun Board of the conversation.

Speaker 1

Let's get into weapons here, Jeff, Uh, I finished watching it earlier today.

Speaker 3

Well, I went to go see it earlier today.

Speaker 1

This new film from Zach Craiger doing really well, speaking of box office, doing really well for its opening weekend at the box office, crushing Freaker of Friday, really crushing Fantastic Four, which dropped another sixty percent.

This one starring Julie Gardner uh and uh and uh Josh Brolin here and uh Ben mcwong as well in a really insane role.

And what a what a horror film, what a psychological horror film that I found to be really good with some fantastic performances from Josh Brolin from from Julie Julia Gardner here to carry the way.

Uh, Jeff, you've read the script.

I think you read the script ahead of time and you went to see it Saturday night.

So what are your thoughts on this movie?

Speaker 2

I really liked it.

Yeah, I thought it was pretty entertaining.

It wasn't It's not a masterpiece.

I think it falls short of being great because to me, it was a little tonally uneven.

Speaker 3

Uh yeah, yes, okay, it.

Speaker 2

Felt like it was sometimes like directed by a guy who used to be in a prominent sketch group.

Uh.

That said it was?

It was good, like you know, I like the structure, I like the cast.

I thought Amy madd Again was terrific.

I really she could be in line for a Supporting Actress nomination for this movie.

That's how good I thought she was.

Speaker 1

I agree with you one thousand percent.

Speaker 3

I didn't even know it was her.

I was in luck.

I was in a theater with only like three or four people.

Speaker 1

This afternoon, and I looked her up on the phone while I was watching.

I didn't know who was playing it, and I was like, wait, that's her, and just was blown away.

Speaker 2

He didn't look at her, and I be able to see this inside of her.

You have to give Zach Craiger credit.

This is like what Long Leg should have been, or you know what Nicholas Cage maybe hoped it was.

She was way better than him.

Speaker 3

Yeah.

Speaker 2

Yeah, the movie did fantastic.

I think word of mouth is pretty strong.

My friend had seen it the night before me, my movie buddy, and he had warned me, and he was like, I was not a fan.

You know, the movie's not about anything, and like, I didn't like this, this and this what.

I had tempered my expectations a little bit because of that, But I really really enjoyed it.

It's not Magnolia.

I don't understand like, oh, Skepta, it's not fucking Magnolia horror movies.

Speaker 3

I agree with that.

Speaker 1

Yeah, it's not like.

Speaker 2

Vicious, and I think it.

I think it works and it is.

It's creepy.

It gets under your skin.

It's not like scary, Yeah, well creepy.

Speaker 1

I think the symbolism and the themes in the movie I love that.

Speaker 3

I was.

Speaker 1

I spent some time in the last hour reading some people's theories about what it could mean and all that.

I like that there's multiple things that it could mean.

That people take it to mean certain things, and what the film is all about could be an allegory for this or that.

And Zach's come out and said, it's about him dealing with the sudden death of a very very close friend, his also his also his growing up dealing with a parent who's an addict to Those kinds of things are elements of the movie itself, and you know, and you can read all that into it, which I like to do, honestly, because I think artists do want to put messages in their films.

But in the end, overall, does it work as a film?

Hell yeah, it does.

And I really enjoy even the moments of humor and enjoyed that's my kind of humor that mixed in with the kind of horror.

But my only issues are a couple of story storyline elements to me that were convenient for what they were trying to get to.

But those are really like little things to complain about, because overall it's a damn powerful movie.

It's told episodically, which I think is what the Magnolia references are all about.

It's almost rationmon in a way, and I like where it ends up, and I see that the ending is divisive for some people.

Speaker 3

I love the ending.

Speaker 1

It was cathartic as f the ending.

I thoroughly enjoyed it.

And I liked how it built throughout and the shifting alliances, and that Julie Garner's character is not some wallflower or mouse that's unfairly victimized by what went on, Like she is a difficult person to like because she's real and she's honest, and she's got troubles and she's got a past, and so you have to kind of deal with what your feelings are about that as you're navigating that in the movie.

And Josh Brolin's heart as a really frustrated dad who was trying to find his son and kind of what he goes through to kind of get to the position that he's in by the end.

With Julia Gardner, and I thought Alden Ahnrch did a really great job, and June Diane Raphael who only gets a little a.

Speaker 2

Couple of everybody, the whole cast was good.

I was impressed by Austin Abrams, Yes.

Speaker 3

Oh yeah, he was really good in that role.

Speaker 2

Yeah yeah, Ben Duguang was good.

Speaker 1

Even the kid, which I found out today is the daughter of my friend's ex wife's friend.

I had no idea that her her son was Alex.

Speaker 2

Yeah.

I agree that there were some things like on an investigative level where I was like, you know, I think there'd be a lot more people looking, there would be a much bigger story, yes, and they'd definitely be checking that kid's test out.

But times, yeah, it worked for me.

The ending.

I did like the ending, like in terms of what happens, I just thought that, and I like the way it was shot.

But tonally it was like people were laughing.

You know, when when she's running and screaming, you know, uh oh really and people are like laughing, and that's that should be a moment where you're just like horrified and like you're like you can't wait to see them rip her apart.

And I don't know, it's just there were just moments of that where I was like, this has played a little bit too much for comedy.

Speaker 1

I think, yeah, well, you know, I don't want to spoil too much, but the stuff through the houses, I think it got a little Ferris Bueller esque.

Speaker 3

So I can see what you're saying.

Speaker 1

But for me, I was caught up in the like, you know, get it, get her, and I just was caught up in that, and I thought it was gutsy as hell to show what he showed with what happens, and that isn't something that you would normally see in a movie like that, And to see it that brutally done, I thought was fantastic.

Speaker 3

You know, I really enjoy Yeah I don't.

Speaker 1

I'm not seeing masterpiece in this movie, but I am seeing damn good movie that.

Speaker 2

Should be up.

I think I'm going to try to have a review tonight of it.

Spoiler.

I think I'm gonna go B plus B plus for me.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I would, Yeah, okay, B plus.

I mean I kind of want to go A minus, but a couple of those storyline things that's fair.

Speaker 2

It could be on the border, it could be in the border.

But yeah, it wasn't like an A grade, nor was it a B grade.

I I really I found it entertaining.

It was definitely a damn good night at the movies.

Speaker 1

Yeah, you guys, if you haven't seen it, it's we both I think we can both say we highly recommend it.

Speaker 3

You should definitely see it.

Speaker 1

And it's not as like scary as it's being pitched.

There are moments of humor that kind of say that again, it's disturbing.

Speaker 3

It's disturbing.

Speaker 1

Yes, it's a psychological horror, not a horror horror, and they do have the humor to like turn the steam off for a little bit before they turned the steam back on again.

And there's a lot of Again, there's a lot of commentary you could extrapolate from what it symbolizes and what it's supposed to be, So for you, you might come out with a whole different meaning of what the film is than from what other people have made it a school shooting allegory or commentary about you know, getting weaponized by a by a theology or whatever.

So there's so much that people have been speculating about it, which I think makes a great movie.

Speaker 2

Is that you inspired for Vokes conversation see then Imax.

Though, Like I keep hearing from people who think it's like too dark, and then I imagine that machine gun dream the machine gun, and they're like, what machine gun?

We didn't see a machine gun in the It was literally the projection is too dark.

Speaker 1

Wow.

Speaker 2

By the way, So when I was watching that scene with the dream and everything, kept thinking this guy would be good for elm Street.

Oh, I mean he's shown a willingness to do the IP thing because he's doing Red an evil and he was chasing clue for a little while.

Speaker 1

Well, the multiple dream sequences.

Speaker 2

And I realize I say this about probably like every other horror director that I see.

I mean, you could probably go out and get Ari Aster right now after a couple of flops.

But like, I don't know what the fuck new Line is doing with this ip.

They have to get going on a Freddy thing soon, and if you want to keep Craig ran House is the New Line guy, I don't know how you don't give him the movie?

Uh you know that built New Line?

Speaker 3

Yeah?

What about?

Speaker 1

What?

What do you think about now that you've seen the movie?

Does Resident Evil make a little more sense now?

Speaker 3

Or do you make it even?

Speaker 1

Is it even more confounding that he would make this kind of left turn into this ip because he came out with comments saying, I'm it's gonna be nothing you've seen before.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I mean I think Resident Evil.

To me, at least, I know it's not because when you look at the numbers, it's actually a very successful franchise.

But to me, it's like a B or C franchise.

I don't think I've ever even seen any of them.

Speaker 3

No, they're not that good.

I mean the first one was fine.

Speaker 2

Well, I know, I'm sure they're not good.

Yeah, actually make money, yes.

Speaker 3

Like seven installments or some shit.

You know.

Speaker 2

So maybe he's looking at it like, oh, this is you know, a way to put a freshman on a franchise I like, and you know, but it's not gonna have anything to do with the games or doesn't have any characters from the games.

Speaker 3

I think he's dealing with Alice.

Speaker 2

I think, yeah, there'll be another Originals set in that world.

It's not what I want to see from him, right.

Speaker 1

We'll see, we'll see, all right.

So that's that's anything else you want to say on it, because we didn't want to go to spoilery.

Speaker 3

So anything else you want to say on the on the film.

Speaker 2

That people save some for the review tonight.

Speaker 1

If I do one, Yeah, I'll probably have a longer review.

Solo out tomorrow at some point after I have seen.

I really want to see it again too.

I really enjoyed it, and I think Julia Gardner, I mean, this is a run.

It's not necessarily like strong movies with Wolfman and stuff, but she's showing that she can be a lead man and I like her.

Speaker 2

Oh for sure.

I really like it to I think she's a damn good actress.

I think she's gonna make a fantastic Madonna if they can get a real filmmaker.

Speaker 3

Yeah, oh yeah.

Speaker 2

It's gonna be perfect.

And I think she's I think she's hot.

Speaker 1

That scene, that scene with her and Alden Aaron Reik in the bar, that is a great scene.

Speaker 3

Okay, that is a great scene.

Speaker 2

I like this scene with Toby Huss and Alden Aaron Reike.

Speaker 3

Yeah, Toby's I love top.

Speaker 2

He's just like, why should I suspect this woman?

You know?

I thought he was really good.

Speaker 1

Yeah, it was just like, well, tell me what you've seen that I haven't seen.

Come on, let's hear it, you know.

And I thought that was because sometimes we're like the police should figure it out, and it's like, really, I'm a human being too, I'm I've got the clues, and this is all I know.

Speaker 3

What do you see that I'm not seeing?

Speaker 2

Right?

Speaker 1

Come on, entertain me, you know.

And so I like that kind of stuff too.

All right, all right, well, so let's move off and then let's get into some questions here Jeff, as we're running out of time because we're only doing an hour on this show.

Jay man Is, who are play Jason Rightman on a new Jenner Ranison show.

Craig lesbian Letter and Dayton Ferris have all directed dramedy pilot for Apple in the Past or Will Apple Pull the Plug?

Speaker 3

I do know nothing about this, So at Jeffy, your thoughts on.

Speaker 2

If I'm her?

I go to wasn't she in the Nicole Hailofsenter movie?

Didn't she do one of those?

Speaker 1

Oh?

Oh shit, I can't remember that.

Speaker 2

Anyways?

Who would go?

Yeah, friends with Money?

I would go to Nicole Hlafsenter.

Speaker 3

Okay, there you go?

All right?

Speaker 1

Jordan Ross whine Hold, I like that name much.

Love guys.

Excited for Wicked for good?

Yeah, there was a feature that dropped on Friday profiling At jeff are you excited?

Speaker 2

I am again.

I was someone who's thought Wicked was going to be garbage last year, and it really had a great time.

It was delightful and impressed me.

All the performances were terrific, the production design was fantastic.

I am looking forward to the sequel and I don't care who knows it.

Speaker 3

Yeah, I'm looking forward to it.

Speaker 1

I wouldn't say excited necessy, but I would say I'm looking forward to it and hope to be entertained.

Uh, and thank you, Jordan Dan the Man, Hey, folks, Sadie is Gene Pirates six Transformers.

Sadie sink is Gene Pirates six are Transformers?

Speaker 2

Uh?

Speaker 1

Okay, anything you want.

Speaker 3

To say on that?

So?

Speaker 2

Uh?

I was that was Disney?

I might try.

I mean, you think you can get Pedro into a Pirates movie.

Speaker 1

At this point?

Man, dude, don't you want to give him a break for a little bit?

Do you want to announce another project of Pedro?

I feel like I feel like even Petro should pull himself out of consideration Transformers.

Speaker 2

No, I haven't heard anything.

Uh.

And Sadie is Gene Gray.

You know that.

I did.

I did hear that, although the source was skeptical of where he heard it from.

So I don't know.

Speaker 1

Sewn Arnes has any of the Planet of the Apes news.

Speaker 3

I like the last one.

Yeah, nothing's been announce right, Jeff, I have.

Speaker 2

Heard anything, And you'd think that Fox would be on that soon.

Speaker 3

Totally, totally.

Don the Man.

Speaker 1

The Man says DC versus Marvel after Secret Wars next up Fortnite.

No, Man, James Gunn is still in charge of Kevin Figy is still in charge.

Speaker 3

No effing way are they doing DC.

Speaker 1

Versus Marvel, because you've got to negotiate who wins and who loses, right, And it's like WCW versus WWE.

The owners don't want to have their top wrestlers losing to another top wrestler at the other company.

So how are you going to negotiate this?

So to me, I think we're a long way from that happening.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I mean I don't really see it.

Speaker 1

Yeah, thirty four speak to the creative difference Will and m Bay.

Speaker 3

Oh so the credit Smith?

Speaker 2

Yeah, i'mut.

I mean they say Michael Bay wanted to focus on the action, Will Smith wanted to focus on the comedy.

Uh sure or whatever.

I don't know who knows what the truth is on that one, but I'm sure that.

Speaker 3

Yeah.

Speaker 2

I also have a feeling.

I mean, I don't know, Like the upside of working in Netflix is that they're supposed to leave you alone and give you creative economy.

True, but part of me just thinks Will Smith and Netflix just want like a shooter, just like someone anonymous, to come in and make.

Speaker 1

You get that was available page Shutter says, my first chat on the Hot My Gay page.

Speaker 3

Thanks thanks for joining us.

Speaker 1

I hope for the both of y'all is much success.

Speaker 3

Well, thank you, thank you, Jef.

Speaker 1

Do you think that streamers are going away?

Do you think that Emmy Awards are going to be more better than Oscars in the future.

Speaker 2

I'll always be partial to the Oscars, you know, Like the nominees for the Emmys are great this year, especially when you think of the narratives in each category, like Hacks versus the Studio, the pit versus Severance, adolescents versus White lotus.

These are interesting matchups.

But for me, there's just too many TV shows right.

And I also can't see in the calendar in the way that like, you know, you could be talking about a show that came out like a year and a half ago, basically the way that the Emmy calendar is is set up.

I don't think that the streamers are going away.

I think that you'll, you know, continue to see Amazon and Apple.

Sorry, Netflix and Apple really dominate the Emmy nominations, but whatever, they just don't puote my boat.

Speaker 1

Michael McKenzie, it's been years since a purge.

When's the next purge?

Speaker 3

Next?

Speaker 1

Purge movie whatever, I didn't get Grillo.

Speaker 2

I think I'm good on Purge movies, but I do think that the Purge is right for parody.

So there is a movie this week or last week it was announced Monica Barbaraw Callum Turner are starring in a Universal Company I want to say, called One Night Only.

Speaker 3

Oh.

Speaker 2

It's set during the one night of the year where pre marital sex is legal, right, and so it's these two people scrambling to find someone to fuck.

Speaker 1

Wow, I feel like that's coming.

I feel like that's not far off from happening, right.

Speaker 2

I just think, like, you know, the one night you're allowed to do this, just like I think the binge on Hulu is like the one night when drugs are alcohol or legal, the one night where is a great formula.

Speaker 1

Right, because then everyone's trying to have sex with someone and it's like, well, now you there's a lot of choices.

Are you running out of time?

Are you being too picky?

Evan Dorlay hear me out was great.

Guards of the Galaxy success a bad thing to happen with Marvel Team up movies of new characters aren't received well, with those those films being the anomalies.

Speaker 2

No, the success was not a bad thing.

Speaker 1

To Marvel or James gone to be on.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I just don't think everything.

I don't think you can just point to Guardians of the Galaxy and be like, oh, well that works, so we can gamble on this because who knows it could be the next Guardians.

I mean that's sort of how the bit film is his designed.

You have to gamble and take those risks.

But yeah, Guardians is like a lightning in a bottle franchise.

Speaker 3

It's it's it's I can I say that.

Speaker 1

It's it's about timing, right, Thunderbolts came out at the wrong time, and Fantastic four coming out after Thunderbolts, not after Captain America four, you could argue was not the right time for that film to come out.

Speaker 3

So and even in a stack July maybe you could argue not the right time for that film.

Speaker 1

Jordan ross wineholds back against I'd loved Weapons, Amy Madigan, what a performance we agree with that thirty four Vigo, can you please find out who Denzel is playing in Black Panther three?

Speaker 2

Yeah, I have no idea.

I don't know that the comic books, right, so I don't know if there's some character that screams out if he's gonna end up being King Zulu or whatever the fuck it is another or if the rumors are true and there's something involving you know, Magneto.

I mean, Magneto has that helmet right exactly?

Isn't that made out of the metal that's in Wakanda?

Speaker 1

I don't know, vibranium maybe, matt uh uh yeah, Mattmakers, Mattmaker's studious.

Speaker 3

Is I enjoyed Jeff's rant?

Are you all on entertainment?

Speaker 2

How dare an entertainment reporter try to entertain people?

We need to be dealing with just the facts, ma'am, one hundred percent of the time.

And if it doesn't come from deadline, don't believe it's.

Speaker 3

Not the facts, right, Evan Doiles?

Is Jeff?

Speaker 1

With award season getting closer, what contenders are you looking forward to and think could make some noise?

Speaker 3

Personally?

Speaker 1

It's Marty Supreme.

Speaker 2

I am looking forward to Marty Supreme.

I think that'll be good.

I'm looking for the Smashing Machine too.

Both the Saftes movies excite me.

Netflix has a really good lineup, although I saw one of the movies and it underwhelmed.

What else The Lost Bus?

The Lost Bus?

Speaker 3

Yeah, McConaughey, one, yes, yes, I.

Speaker 2

Think that's a fascinating story.

And again, if you're campaigning for Oscars and all you got to do is try out some firemen who saved a bunch of kids and homes in California, that's the academy.

They all lost their homes.

So it seems ready made to get a nominations.

Speaker 3

A good point.

Speaker 1

Just Scute says the this boxing match with gun is seeming more more likely with every new edition of the Hotbin.

Speaker 3

I don't know.

Speaker 2

He could be a good fighter, you know, James Gunn has a good physique and everything, but he can't he can't be better than Ouva.

I mean he had ten twelve years of fight experience.

I don't know if does James gun fight.

Speaker 3

I don't know.

I'll be honest with that.

Speaker 1

I don't know.

Speaker 3

Maybe he's a fighter, not maybe he's a lover not a fighter.

It's very possible.

Speaker 1

I mean thirty four Brogo says, what are the chances that a woman takes Figy spot not good?

Speaker 3

Zero?

Yeah, I would say ero.

Jordan Ross, why know?

Back again?

Speaker 1

Madigan in the drag at the awards ceremony equals wild.

Speaker 2

I don't think that sheould be in drag.

I think she'd probably just goes herself.

Speaker 1

Amy Madigan, Yeah, uh, my friend thought James the attict was shallow.

Speaker 2

May he looks just like a most Neroms looks just like.

Speaker 1

Shall What else would have seen Austin In?

I can't think of what.

Speaker 2

He's the kid with Brad Pitt.

Oh damn, he's in a bunch of stuff.

He's in that Ben Siller movie where they have to go off to college like Brad's.

Speaker 1

Oh, he's got a Harris Dickinson vibe to him that I like as well.

Speaker 3

Third of afore Girl.

Speaker 1

I believe way before MCU Sarafin is a beast at casting.

Is there anyone that you believe is a great casting and a sleeper who gets more attention?

Speaker 2

Actually?

I think the Weapons casting director I believe was Alison Jones, who is one of the best at it.

She hails from my hometown of Nita, Massachusetts, which until recently she did like freaks and geeks.

But there's a lot of good casting people, and you're gonna start to know their names after this year because this is the year when they're introducing the casting oscar.

That's true, that's true.

Casting director is probably gonna get down, and they got like mister Wonderful, they're bringing back Paltrow.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I was giving up for Mindy Maren.

She got me casting wind Talkers back in two.

Speaker 2

Okay.

Speaker 1

Francin Maisler trip theory says, well, who do you think or heard will be the TB two villain, the Batman two villain?

Speaker 2

I don't know.

Speaker 1

USh, Yeah, we've heard, Hush, We've heard mister Freeze.

Speaker 2

Those is the only two I've heard, So I don't know.

Speaker 1

Thirty four virgo chances of silver Hawks or a ThunderCats movie.

ThunderCats.

Speaker 2

ThunderCats is an internal joke among trade reporters at this point report on it like once every two or three years.

It's a ridiculous property.

What are we doing.

Speaker 3

That'll never happen?

Speaker 1

Thirty fours?

So will there actually be another House of Dragons spin off?

In the real reason that the series only appears every two years?

When will Dane Whitman appear in the MCU?

Speaker 2

This is written in another language.

What are you talking about?

Speaker 1

Well, yeah, they've been working on another Game of Throne show they're probably always going to work on a Game of Throne show to try to bring back and what have you.

But the reason that the season was cut is because of budget and now they'll be back with the Battle starting off the new season.

So, yeah, who's your riot?

I might have missed it, But what are your thoughts on Naked Gun might be my favorite movie of the year.

Speaker 3

What was your favorite jokes, last gag in the film?

Speaker 2

You did miss it?

Poo shoot you fucked up?

Son?

Uh?

I liked it.

I gave it a B.

I don't think it was like the most the greatest deck Well, maybe it was the greatest comedy years because there's been no comedies.

It was good.

Uh Oh, I know my favorite joker gag it was.

It was when there they go, you know, you can't fight City Hall and he's like, yeah, I know, it's a building.

Speaker 3

Yes.

Speaker 1

I want to think about him saying that he doesn't think there will be a second one.

What do you think about that, because, I mean, the box office wasn't that strong in the second week for it being out, So do you think Liam is trying to maybe negotiate in the press.

Oh, there won't be a second one unless they pay me a lot of money.

There won't be a second one.

I'm good with the one off.

Speaker 2

I don't really know that I see this as a franchise.

Speaker 3

Oh so you do think it might be a one off.

Speaker 2

I do feel like it's a one.

Speaker 3

Scott.

Speaker 1

I think if it was a bigger hit, I think Liam might be singing a different tune.

Speaker 3

Scott Millis is the mic.

Speaker 1

I never listened live, so I can fill my day with you and Christian's content.

Love all the insiding controversy.

Be well, Thank you, Scott, Thanks Scott, thanks for listening.

Later, Dan the Man says, why do Luke Cage dirty let him join the MCU.

Yeah, there's been all this talk about Kristin Ritter coming back, but what about Mike Colter Man.

Speaker 2

I thought Mike Holder was perfect.

I thought that was really good.

I'm all for Luke Cage coming back to the MCO.

Speaker 1

Shout out to show Cooker Man, Scott Mills.

Speaker 3

The hot mic is out.

Speaker 1

I always said that already.

Eric Kirby in here.

Hey John, I heard you met doctor Detroit on the Superman.

Cinephiles review fun old school movie.

Hope you guys reviewed in the future sometimes.

Yeah, that's probably a good watch along one to do on the show for the cinepal And speaking of which, it part three is out right now with me and Steve and Michael bog Will breaking down the final thirty forty five minutes of Superman nineteen seventy eight Superman so you can listen to it on the podcast.

Matt Simson McCall says, I felt weapons showed too much in the trailer.

Loved it though, Jeff, who in the business hates you the most?

And why love the hot mic?

Here's an orange?

Speaker 3

I have to say I disagree with this.

I reacted to all the.

Speaker 1

Trailers, watched all the trailers, and I still was surprised by a lot of the movie.

So I don't think it showed too much in the trailers.

But maybe some of you all put stuff together a little quicker before the movie, so you feel like it showed too much.

What do you think, Jeff?

Speaker 2

I mean, I do think it may be showed a little bit too much.

But it's a tricky movie because again, the first half of the movie I thought was a little slow.

Yeah, it had some pacing issues, and then things just go crazy in the third act.

I don't know if I would have shown all the kids jumping through the window and the trailers, because you know, when there's like ten minutes ago, Oh I still haven't seen that yet.

You're like, Oh, that's so, that's what happens.

Speaker 3

Fair.

Speaker 2

Who in the business hates me the most?

It's hard to say.

Uh, probably a fellow reporter, maybe John.

It might be John.

Speaker 1

I don't hate you.

I wouldn't keep doing the show if I hated you.

That's for goddamn.

Speaker 2

Sure.

Speaker 3

You pissed me off.

Speaker 2

Sometimes read Yeah, I have I have no idea.

Maybe it's maybe it's search light now.

Speaker 1

Yeah, well I always I may get mad at you, but we always talk it out, and that's important.

Speaker 2

Inline haters take a number.

Speaker 3

That's right.

Speaker 1

I put you right.

I might have watched your reaction probably was too high.

Speaker 3

Lol.

Speaker 1

Whatever happened to the Metal Gear movie?

I know Kajima wants to start making flakes?

Speaker 2

M Yeah, I don't.

I don't.

I think that's a development thing, you know, metal Gear solid?

Do I really see them pulling the trigger on that?

Not?

Really?

Speaker 3

It seems like, yeah, I been of a stretch.

Speaker 1

Samo says, better Shot nominated for Best Picture, Weapons or Sinners oh, I would say Sinners.

Speaker 2

I'll say Sinners has the better shot.

I think Weapons is probably the better movie.

Interesting a tough decision, but I think Weapons was just a little bit more effective.

Speaker 1

I still I think I think I just saw it today, so I'm gonna need to ruminate on a little bit on it.

I'd say I enjoyed Sinners, maybe want to go back to the theater watch it multiple times.

Speaker 3

Weapons.

Speaker 1

I think watching it one more time will be fun.

Speaker 3

So I don't know.

Speaker 2

Well, so, like you know, sam O, that's who Warner Brothers needs to be betting on.

Okay, you lost Chris Nolan, tough one move on.

Yeah, you do whatever you can to bring back Coogler and Craigor.

These are your guys.

Speaker 3

Now, Yeah, that's that'd be a smart move, Mike says, Jeff.

Speaker 1

You heard anything on Werner Herzog's Bucking Faster starring the Mars Sisters, Any update on the trip and Daisy biopack?

Speaker 2

No, and No, I haven't heard anything about Bucking Fastered that was all Germans.

It would probably be pretty weird.

Speaker 1

Yeah, it's a little Erner Hertzog and the Mars Sisters Rooney Tunes.

I don't know, I don't know, Tim says Johnny Boy.

I noticed the Supergirl's release date is sangwiched in between Toy Story five and Dominions movie.

Seeing how family movies are strong right now, should d S consider changing the date?

I would say so.

Speaker 2

I would say so too.

And in fact, I think that this past weekend gives them, should give them the confidence to say we're going to move her to August.

Speaker 3

Yeah, it can stand on its own.

Speaker 2

Yeah, yeah, that's what I might do.

And then, because again suit As have abandoned September, yeah, let it run from August in September.

Speaker 1

Samuel says, I think Marvel making as is making a mistake keeping Superman in July.

Juli's worthy state next year.

A lot of people think it's gonna move, Jef, He's gonna move.

Speaker 2

Is a Supergirl we're talking about?

Speaker 3

No, No, spider Man.

Speaker 2

Oh, I don't, I don't know.

I don't know.

But speaking of Spidern, have you heard of anything, John, anything new on that one?

Speaker 3

No, I haven't heard anything.

What about you?

Have you heard something?

Speaker 2

Well?

We keep hearing these things about how like there's like this villain that no one knows anything about.

And what I mean, you haven't heard anything.

Speaker 1

I haven't know.

Have you heard something in the wind?

Speaker 2

I heard something.

I don't know if it's true.

I have no idea I would.

I would wait to see if Jamie is is going to stop me from doing I'm saying this.

I don't know if this is true.

I haven't vetted it at all.

Okay, picked this up as as as the truth.

But remember we'd heard about like villains, and we were talking about like redheads.

Right, We're talking about Nicole Kidman.

We were talking about Sarah Snook, Yes, things like that.

That.

Well, I don't really see anybody taking that role that we were talking about, right, Okay, So I think that there is a role for like a woman who's around fifty.

Okay, I heard a name.

Okay, what the fuck?

What the fuck is this thing with Jeff from Jeff Snyder character?

Speaker 1

Wait?

Speaker 2

What what this thing?

Speaker 3

Come on?

Hold on?

Uh chacter character?

Speaker 2

Or I heard an actress?

Oh okay, Okay, I'm gonna say it's because Jamie hasn't stopped me from saying anything yet.

Uh, all right, here's the name.

She's she's already talked about taking Marvel movies for the money.

She has a role already in the MCU, but it was like a voice roll and no one knows it was her.

What if?

What if Carrie Kon is the villain?

Speaker 1

Ooh, I absolutely love that idea.

Speaker 3

Now she was Proxima Midnight.

Speaker 1

Yeah, but like it wasn't like something that was like, oh, really noticeable and it was totally carry coon.

Speaker 2

No one fucking knows it's Proximate Midnight.

Speaker 1

Right, So maybe this is their way of being like, look, we weren't going to pay you extra for coming back to do Endgame.

And maybe that raised enough of a stink with that Tracy Lett's interview that they're like, well, let's look at her, and she's on a high right now with gilded age.

So I would love that because Carrie is such a damn good actress.

Speaker 2

Man, I don't know if it's true.

Okay, it's coming from a third party.

Speaker 1

Okay, but you wouldn't bring up unless, right there was something about it that feels true.

Speaker 2

Well, I because I can see Marvel going back to the well and being like, listen, you're a hugely talented actor.

Who want you in this universe, but we don't just want you to be like a voice in a movie from ten years ago, you know, like we want you to have a real role where you can act or you know, a larger role later in the in the universe.

I don't know, but that is the name that floated up this weekend.

Speaker 3

Wow.

Wow Wow.

Speaker 1

I like that Carrie Coon in Spider Man.

Speaker 2

Wow.

Speaker 1

I wonder who she'd play.

I wonder who she'd play.

Interesting.

Yeah, Jeff put this up there, but I don't know who this is, and I don't know what this is all about and if it's true or not.

So I'm going to delete the comment because I don't even want to.

Okay, I just reached out to Christianity to do that.

Speaker 3

Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 1

Some messed up people attention then because Bobby and Daddy didn't love him long enough.

Now, if it turns out to be true, then my apologies.

But don't drop it.

Speaker 2

In the chat like it's any kind of a thing.

Speaker 3

That's not the way to do it on social media anyway.

All right, So I think that's everything.

That's all.

Wait, one more.

Doug developer says the weapons trailers.

Speaker 1

Were misleading by saying every kid went missing when actually one kid returned.

I'm sure they believed the whole class missing would be a lot scary, and revealing that one kid returned would hurt the mystery.

Speaker 2

Someone just messaged me, by the way, though, and just said the carry coon thing tracks and that she's working on a secret project right now.

Speaker 3

Hey, I love it.

I love it.

Speaker 1

She deserves all the DC.

I'm gonna really ms James gone off big time.

Speaker 2

Uh yeah, I you know, let me.

I don't know.

Maybe I have to make a call about that after this.

Speaker 1

Okay, do it protestas Hello, Hot Mike.

Speaker 3

Excellent show.

Speaker 1

Uh yeah, a lot of we're talking about sketch.

It's gave a quiet little fandom, Sketch, the Tony Hale film White, a little fandoms.

Speaker 3

Speaker 1

All right, that's it, brother, nothing else.

We have no more streamline, no more supertchre.

Speaker 2

Let's time stamp.

But when did I say that?

Three minutes ago?

Six yeah?

Speaker 1

Yeah, yeah, well yeah I'll clip it out and make it a short, so you.

Speaker 2

Know, yeah, we're gonna say six take this one day.

Well no, I don't even go there and then yeah, if the trade picks it up in the next hour or two, well we'll know where it really broke.
