News the dj has released thirty twenty thousand more items from The epstein, files And President trump's name is mentioned more.

Frequently we're going to tell you where and his.

Reaction let's get started with some of the stories coming out of THE kfi twenty four hour.

Newsroom forecasters warn some mountain areas could see more than twenty inches of rain in just two, days raising the risk of catastrophic.

Flooding The National Weather service has issued a rare high risk alert for flash, flooding with a floodwatch now in effect across the.

Region coastal and valley areas are already seeing steady, rain with stronger, downpours thunderstorms and dangerous flooding possible.

Overnight residents Near burnscar areas are being urged to prepare to.

Evacuate the news is brought to you by ruterhroo dot.

Com the mother of a nine year old girl missing for months In Santa Barbara county has been arrested and charged with her daughter's.

Death Ashley buzzard is being held without bail on first degree murder.

Charges Santa Barbara County Sheriff Bill brown says two people Found Melody buzzard's body in a rural part Of.

Speaker 10

Utah this couple had discovered the decomposed body of a deceased person off of the side adjacent To West Caneville.

Speaker 7

Road the cause of death was gunshot wound to the.

Head investigators don't have the, weapon but are linking a special spent shell rather casing found in the mother's home to what was found at the.

Scene it is rainy and it is a mess out.

There, flooding strong, winds and dangerous conditions are already.

Unfolding The National Weather service has some warnings and more information FOR us joining us now is Meteorologist Andrew rourke from The National Weather.

Speaker 8

Service good, Morning, Andrew.

Speaker 6

Good, morning all, Right so what can you tell.

Speaker 7

Us about what's happening right?

Now which areas are seeing the most dangerous conditions as this storm moves.

Speaker 6

Through the worst conditions right now are in Western La, county Eastern Ventura, county where there is rainfall rates approaching an inch per hour, already and into rain has.

Fallen as you go further east into the eastern section of the, county a little, better not going there quite, yet but still those roadways are awfully slick and slick and.

Dangerous but it's gonna get nothing a bit worse throughout the morning hours as that big atmospheric river that's Over Santa Barbara county now moves into and over the.

County we're going to see just rain all, day all morning long until the mid.

Afternoon and when it all said and, done we're going to have two to four inches of rain across the, flatlands and the mountains could see four to eight locally nine inches of rain just in the next ten.

Speaker 7

Hours so The National Weather service has issued a rare high risk flood.

Warning what makes this storm especially concerning compared to others that we've seen this.

Speaker 6

Season, well just the amount of rain this is putting.

Down this is a kind of a rare atmospheric.

River most atmosphic rivers are tilted more to the southwest.

Northeast this one's coming at us from the dew south, almost which makes it very dangerous because all of our all of our mountains are east west and that allows the upslope enhancement really to drive the rainfall rates up to very high numbers and rainfall amounts up to numbers we really haven't seen since twenty, ten maybe even two thousand and.

Speaker 7

Five so for people living in the what we call the burnscar areas or near creeks on, hillsides what are the immediate red flags for them that they should be watching for throughout the, day mostly listening.

Speaker 6

For if we issue a flash flood warning for the burn, areas the police will issue.

Evacuations you, know your TVs will, blare radios will play that you know we've issue flash flood.

Warning so you need just need, to you, know teach, shelter stay in your, house and just get.

Ready if you're a dinner burn area might need to evacuate farther away from the.

Area so those.

Speaker 7

Warnings they come through the, phone the television of course here on the.

Speaker 8

Radio is that, right, right that's.

Speaker 6

Correct if your phones will you've a blurt you now very nice technology and know exactly what's.

Happening and of course pay attention to local emergency officials and if they tell you to get, out just get out and get out and.

Speaker 7

Go so looking, ahead how long does this storm remain a?

Threat and what's the most important thing people can do right now to stay?

Speaker 6

Safe right?

Now this is this has turned into a two prong.

Storm we're going to Get we're going to get, rain pretty moderate to heavy rain through mid.

Afternoon this can taper.

Off we're gonna have a little low actually overnight and Into christmas, morning with another band of rain coming in Later Christmas day and lasting Into friday.

Morning what people can do, TODAY i heard the traffic report.

Today if you can stem not, drive that's just the best possible thing you can.

Do this rain is absolutely treacherous on the, roads and we just don't you, know have less cars on, it the better and they just make it all safer for.

Speaker 7

Yourself, Okay so if you don't see rain immediately in your.

Neighborhood like this morning WHEN i was driving, in it didn't seem too bad for, me BUT i know you, said it's going to grow throughout the.

Day so everybody just keep an eye on things where you.

Speaker 8

Are is that, Right that is?

Speaker 6

Correct, yes they stay, alert pay.

Attention.

Speaker 8

Excellent thank you so, Much.

Speaker 7

When we come back is a lottery, ticket the ultimate stocking.

Stuffer while With powerball, soaring the odds and the dreams are.

Rescued today's talkback, question what's your Favorite christmas?

Tradition hit the talkback button on the iHeartRadio app and we want to hear from.

Speaker 8

You six oh.

Five it's handled on the.

Speaker 7

NEWS a federal grand jury has indicted four people in connection with the suspected terror plot plan For New Year's eve IN la AND.

Oc we're gonna have details on those charges right.

Now The Christmas eve powerball jackpot is pushing an estimated one point seven billion dollars after no one hit all six.

Numbers joining us Is Jim ryan FROM Abc news with a look at all the, frenzy the, fantasy and what happens if lightning actually.

Speaker 8

Strikes good, Morning.

Speaker 5

JIM i think the chances are getting hit by lightning better.

Speaker 8

We get involved, him.

Speaker 5

Of, Course and that's what it's all built.

On it's built on on, hope, right you, know a dollar and a.

Dream there you.

Go still your odds of winning are one in two hundred and ninety two point two.

Million right, now the jackpot has grown to one point seven billion.

Dollars that's still quite far from a record two point two BILLION i think was the record last, year so a little ways to.

Go but it's been months since anyone picked the right six, numbers and maybe somebody will do it tonight on This Christmas.

Speaker 8

Eve oh to, dream it would be.

Amazing what are?

You what are you seeing right?

Speaker 7

Now are a lot of people rushing to grab tickets this sort of a last minute like pre holiday.

Speaker 5

Gift well, YEAH i mean they fed right into a, stocking don't, They or right into your wallet if you want to keep it out to.

Yourself but, yeah there seems to be a billion dollar, barrier and once the jackpot passes that one billion dollar.

Mark the people who run lotteries say that folks do rush, in so you're likely to see some lines out the front of convenience stores Around Los.

Angeles is people run in to get tickets because they, think you know, what Maybe i'm going to.

Win of, course the more people, play the lower your chances of winning, individually, right so it kind of flies in the face of.

Reason BUT i mean winning the lottery and dreaming about this stuff is really about reason.

Anyway it's about just.

Speaker 7

Hope, Okay, so as you, mentioned the odds here are pretty, dismal but people love to keep.

Playing what is driving that surge in ticket, sales especially right, Now.

Speaker 5

Well simply the chance that they might.

Win so what if you?

Do what if you win that one point seven billion, dollars what's the first thing you?

DO a lot of people Say i'm going to quit my job And i'm going to buy A Rolls royce and sell my house and buy a, mansion et, cetera maybe get an.

Island, well the first thing top of mine should Be i'm going to hire a team of financial, experts people who can help to manage this.

MONEY i, mean one point seven billion dollars is a Huge well let's say it's not even.

That let's say it's a million.

Dollars that's still life changing, money and you need to find people you, trust not your brother in, law not your, uncle but a team of impartial specialists to kind of manage that, money make sure you don't run.

Out because some fairly high proportion of lottery winners end up losing all their money and going into, Debt.

Speaker 7

Heather, so you, KNOW i in my, MIND i picture it, like, well IF i spend twenty dollars on, tickets Then i've got a better shot to, win or IF i drop one hundred dollars on, Tickets i've got a better shot to.

Speaker 8

Win but in reality is that really?

Speaker 5

True well not, REALLY i, mean because it's it's all random, anyway you.

Know and so whether it's your one hundred tickets that you've bought in hopes of hitting the right, numbers for somebody else buying one hundred, tickets it really doesn't matter because your odds stay essentially the.

SAME i suppose if you're let's, see the odds are one in two in a ninety two, million you buy two, tickets does that mean your odds or suddenly one in one hundred and forty five.

Million it's still pretty, low you.

Know but, YEAH i mean that that's part of the reasoning or rationale that people have as, well that they start, Thinking i'll buy two tickets and double my Chances i'm going to win this thing.

Speaker 7

Tonight oh, well, okay here's the biggest, Question, jim what are you doing if you, win are you buying a?

Speaker 8

Ticket and what do you do if you?

Speaker 5

WIN i, haven't but others have bought tickets on my.

BEHALF i GUESS i.

Have in one, WAY i did pay two.

Bucks we have a little pool.

Going maybec radio does and maybe we'll.

WIN i think we got sixteen dollars this last, time and that was just dump back into buying the next set of.

Tickets so what AM i going to?

Do you know?

WHAT i THINK i would keep, working but maybe work for, free just BECAUSE i like.

Speaker 8

It, oh it's.

FUN i love.

THAT i love that in some.

Speaker 5

Places it's some states you can keep your name.

PRIVATE i was talking With ohio earlier this, morning and there you can stay anonymous if you want To, california no such.

Luck if you, win your name is out.

Speaker 7

There, Heather, YEAH i don't like that aspect of it for.

Sure and also there's the idea that if you buy it as a gift for, somebody do they owe it you?

Speaker 8

Something do you have to then give?

Speaker 7

IT i MEAN i would think you would share it with whoever got it for, You but there's that tricky.

Speaker 5

SITUATION i don't think there's any, Requirement so you, know it's PRO i think IF i, Had, yeah IF i had one point seven billion, DOLLARS i Think i'd give away some of it to.

Speaker 8

Somebody, OH i THINK i would.

TOO i love.

IT i love just.

Speaker 7

Daydreaming Jim, ryan you are one of my favorite people to talk to IT.

Abc you always have the best stories and such a calming and helpful, demeanor and it's such a joy to talk with.

YOU i hope you have a Wonderful christmas.

Speaker 5

And you, too make it a nice.

Holiday thank.

Speaker 7

You all, RIGHT i want to ask really, quickly uh, kono what are you doing if you win a billion?

Speaker 8

Dollars if you buy the if you win the lottery?

Ticket you want to hear like seriously that it's it's real.

Nerd it's a real nerd.

MOVE i WOULD i would honestly invest to make my.

Speaker 13

Money just pay me a salary even more own, so like my dividends would pay me a salary.

Speaker 8

So we never see you, again is what you're.

SAYING i think it would work BECAUSE i don't have.

Speaker 7

To, okay there you, Go, michelle you oversee THE kfi lottery.

Pool what are you going to do if you win?

Individually and, like what would you?

Do like you oversee all of our lottery.

Situation what are you doing with the?

Money i'm just buying.

Speaker 14

WHAT i buy tickets and then like WHEN i have we buy a set amount of tickets every week just because everybody puts in the same.

Speaker 8

Amount at the beginning of the.

Year it's forty dollars for the.

Speaker 14

Year it gets you all The powerball And mega drawings for the, year so it's a pretty good.

Speaker 8

Deal but when we, WIN i just take that.

Speaker 14

Money if it's less than one thousand, dollars which it usually.

IS i think the most we've won is like two hundred and fifty one dollars in one little, thing AND i just buy more.

Speaker 8

Tickets but what do you want to do?

Speaker 7

Personally if you win a lot if you win a billion dollars from.

Speaker 14

The, pad, well if we win it in the, pool we're obviously splitting.

It, Yeah i'm not running away with your.

Money, no, no, NO i would buy another.

House i've been living in the.

House we've been living.

In we wanted to stay there five, years we've been there Twenty, wow there you.

Go so, YEAH i would buy a, house buy a new, car and then maybe buy.

Speaker 8

A farm where it could have lots of foster.

Dogs OH i love.

Speaker 7

That, see that's WHAT i wanted to get.

AT i was, like where are those animals in?

THERE i know they're going to be in there.

Speaker 8

Somewhere, OH i love.

It, WELL i KNOW i certainly would be buying.

THINGS i would.

Speaker 7

LIKE i feel LIKE i want to pay off people's.

DEBT i would pay off my.

DEBT i would buy people.

THINGS i would want to help other.

People the billion, dollars there's so much you could, do so.

Speaker 8

Much you could.

Speaker 7

Do THE chp says it'll start it's Annual christmas time holiday enforcement period at six o'clock.

Tonight that's when all available officers will deploy to catch drunk or driving impaired.

Drivers if its're a county man faces a long prison sentence after pleading guilty in one of the largest ventanyl cases in recent county.

Speaker 8

HISTORY a new.

Speaker 7

Research suggest eating high fat cheese every day may be linked to a lower risk of.

Dementia oh, well in that, CASE i am doing.

Great but researcher stress it's not an.

Association there's no, proof and it's too early to call cheese a brain.

Speaker 8

Healthcare all, right that's.

Speaker 7

Fine today's talkback question what's your Favorite christmas?

TRADITION i see a few of the talkbacks coming.

Through hit that button on the iHeartRadio.

App we would love to hear from.

You then at six oh, five it's handled on the.

News Nor ad is getting some help from a controversial source to Track santa this.

Year will tell you what they're using in what might put them on the naughty.

List one of the gifts you can give your kids this holiday season is the gift of an.

Education college money is already waiting for millions Of california families and many don't even realize.

Speaker 8

It joining us now is no.

Speaker 7

Alignment Assistant Deputy director of The ScholarShare Investment board to explain why parents should claim Their calkids scholarship accounts as soon as possible and how that money can.

Speaker 8

Make a real difference for their.

Speaker 7

Future Okay, Patrick for the many parents who may not know WHAT calkids, is what is it and how can they check their eligibility right?

Speaker 3

NOW calkits is the nation's largest child development account.

Program it represents a two billion dollar public investment from the state Of california providing scholarships for higher.

Education so we provide scholarships for newborns and for public school students that can be used eventually for college and career.

Speaker 7

Training so a lot of parents will assume that scholarships require some sort of application or income, limit or even an application.

Speaker 8

Fee what makes Cal kids different and easier to access in that?

Speaker 3

Way, Hether i'm so glad you asked that.

Question so sixty percent of all public school students In california and about seven to ten of public school students In Los Angeles county already have A calkit.

Scholarship the concept was the state wanted to create a program that money would already be dedicated in their, name and so, this in, fact is the easiest scholarship in the state Of.

California there's no essay, requirement NO gpa, requirement no letters of recommendation.

Needed all students need to go and find their Cal kids account is what's called A Statewide Student.

Identifier it's a ten digit number that every public school student, has THE, ssid and so they can take that statewide student, identifier go on our website again it's Cal kids dot, org and figure out if they have accounted.

Scholarship and then for the, newborns this is the baby's first.

Scholarship so every baby born After july one of twenty twenty two in the state Of california has already been granted their first, scholarships and they the parents just need to put something called the local registration, number which is a thirteen digit number found on the birth certificate to go and claim their babies for.

Speaker 7

SCHOLARSHIP i have a five twenty nine account set up for my.

Daughter how is this different than the five twenty nine, program.

Speaker 3

Great, question it's.

Related so, AGAIN i work for The Scholarshire Investment.

Board we administer both the calkits program and the scholarship five twenty nine.

Program SO Caw kids is designated more as a one time scholarship with the idea that there's been a lot of research out there that has suggested that children that, see you, know a little bit of money designated in their names are more likely to attend higher education than children that didn't have any accounts.

Whatsoever the studies show that children with five hundred dollars are even less are three times more likely to attend college or career training than children that didn't have it.

Whatsoever but in this process we also encourage families to continue saving on their own through the scholarship five twenty nine.

Speaker 7

Platforms so what happens if they don't claim this money right?

Away does it get recycled back into the.

Speaker 3

Program the money will get recycled back to the, program so students can use the funds until age twenty.

Six we want to encourage families to claim their account as soon as.

Possible you, know the more families see that this the scholarship fund, exists it'll help with family, planning you, know talking about again saving for, college looking at different scholarships that are out, there you, know pointing back to their, research you, know recognizing.

Them an account exists in your.

Name has, fundamentally you, know supported development of children across the country and especially in increasing college access.

Rates and so cal kits was designed to support.

Speaker 6

THAT i.

Speaker 7

Know the scholarships are worth between one hundred and seventy five and around fifteen hundred.

Speaker 8

Dollars what is that based?

Speaker 3

On, Yeah so it's set up into two different.

Structures so for newborns and young.

Children every baby born in the state Of california After july first of twenty twenty two is automatically eligible for this, program and we give them up to one hundred and seventy five.

Dollars so if any listeners are out, there know if any baby born in the state in the last three, years they can raise their hands because they know someone that's already part of this.

Program and then on the student, side we give between five hundred to fifteen hundred dollars for public school.

Speaker 7

Students so remind everybody what they need to do to claim this scholarship.

Speaker 3

Money it's super easy to check if you have a calkids.

Account all you need is that ten digit statewide student identifi.

Er go online to www dot calkids dot org claim your account.

Now so we encourage you to claim it as soon as.

Possible but ultimately the funds are used when you're ready for college or career.

Speaker 7

Training every little bit helps when it comes to paying for.

College to know and thank you so much for is reminder and great.

Information.

Speaker 3

Wonderful thank you so much mother for having.

Speaker 7

Me all, right it's time to get in your business with Bloomberg.

S Denise, pellegrini good, Morning.

Speaker 8

Hey good, Morning.

Heather how are you doing.

Good we're all just trying to stay dry over.

Speaker 7

Here it's kind of little, rainy, yeah all, right let's talk About oh, sorry go.

Speaker 8

Ahead, no just we might get some more snow.

Here oh.

Wow oh, yeah That New york is so beautiful in the in the.

Snow, yeah, visit come have dinner with.

YOU i would love.

Speaker 7

That let's talk About waymo updating software after that power failure failure in The San francisco, area, right.

Speaker 6

YEAH i.

Speaker 15

Know and that was just so, crazy right to see all Those waymo taxis just, stopped and they're supposed to be so smart and they do all these amazing, things and then they just look so you, know it's so pathetic during a power outage to see them just sitting.

There Way most been explaining how it.

Happened apparently the system got a little.

Overloaded so they now say they are strengthening their animated software to better handle power.

Outages after those self driving taxis froze all over the place during the power outage last.

Weekend company taking steps to integrate more information in its software about the context heather of regional power.

Outages And i'll let the, vehicles they, say navigate the intersections more.

Speaker 8

Decisively that would be.

Speaker 15

Helpful weimo also working with the mayor on emergency response protocols and updating its first responder.

TRAINING a lot of these tech, companies you, know they look at these problems as you, know a reminder that they need to improve in a way to get, better and they're certainly doing.

Speaker 8

That it's very, pressive all.

Speaker 7

Right so what do you mean a crazy day for gold and?

Commodities?

Speaker 14

What?

Speaker 8

Okay what's going on with?

Speaker 15

GOLD i mean if you own any gold, jeweler even just a ring or a chain or some, EARRINGS i mean that whatever you've, got just the pure value of the meltdown value of the gold is worth seventy percent more than it was at the beginning of the.

Year what do you buy that increases in value seventy percent in a?

Year so the gold mania is just absolutely crazy right.

Now we've had gold hit what more than fifty new record highs this, year and we could see even more between the end of the.

Year we have another high this morning for, gold, palladium silver as.

Well escalating tension In, venezuela worries about political instability in THE, us expectations for MORE us interest rate, cuts concern lurking about, inflation and a lot of buying by ETFs and central banks around the, globe just all driving gold prices.

Higher we even't had stories about people small businesses who make payroll every month by hawking their gold chains and then getting them out of.

Hawk they can get so much money just cash flow by bringing these gold chains.

In it's just crazy.

Speaker 8

To look through my jewelry drawer and see What i've.

Got you can sell.

Speaker 15

On, eBay but or you could just keep it because stuff is beautiful and it's probably going to go even higher next.

Speaker 7

Year, Okay so let's talk about spending YOUR fsa money before employers get what's.

Speaker 8

Left what's that, about?

Speaker 15

Right, Okay so as you, know if you have one of those accounts and you guys were talking about that kind of stuff, Earlier americans leave more than four billion dollars in those flexible spending accounts each year on the.

Table that money goes back to your employer if you do not spend.

It and remember you can buy things like air, purifiers band, aids you, know over the counter, medicines and those are ALL fsa eligible and it's super easy if you do it at like you, know A, cbs one of those chain, drugstores which actually marks IT fsa eligible on your.
