The Trump administration is preparing to garnish the pay of student loan borrowers in default.
According to an email from the Department of Education, beginning the week of January seventh, roughly one thousand borrowers who are in default will receive notices informing them of their status.
The email didn't contain any details about the nature of the garnishment, but the number of notices will increase monthly.
The Trump administration began enforcing its repayment efforts earlier this year, and mark the end of a five year reprieve on student loan repayments in May.
