Speaker 1

You don't remember when I first met you and we have been here in show business, ag like Andrea Giant, And we was at some video shoot and I thought you was Andre the Giant cause you know, like niggas didn't have video, they didn't have video.

Speaker 2

You know, niggas didn't know.

Speaker 3

So I was like, Yo, makes sense, Yo, that's Andre the Giant.

I went up to you said you was like, nah, Pas, I'm fat.

Oh what up y'artist is?

Joe cracked it?

Speaker 4

Dun your boy, Jada know what it is that Joe and Jada show every show legendary, every show iconic.

Speaker 2

We haven't let you down yet, Today's guests.

Speaker 5

When you think of hip hop royalty and you think of somebody left their phone, north come out when you think a bar, when you think of camaraderie, when you think of loyalty, when you think it's standing ten toes down as artists, to fight for your rights even when it's not looking.

Speaker 4

Good, but just that you just stay down without further ado.

Speaker 6

Ladies and gentlemen, make some noise for the day lost song.

Speaker 2

What they're good?

First of all, brothers, Wow, believe it or not?

You know where we from?

We pay home and so in case I lose my Sectionnate, it's in.

Speaker 6

Case I lose my section, Nick, I need something to fall back, you know what I mean.

Speaker 7

That's a big deal.

Speaker 8

You guys out there don't know.

You soon you'll know.

And knows dead stock to you know what I meant, and they know they is.

And none of those came straight out the box.

There you go, yes, and they like a rim break.

Speaker 2

Now them is legendary.

Right now, let's go ahead.

Speaker 9

What I was gonna say is, believe it or not, we like to call this show the Rookies of the Year or whatever.

We try to play him humble to everybody before us, or god damn it.

We on fire and names keep flying through and I don't know, it's not enough time, it's whatever.

All I know is the second Daylight Soul was mentioned, the whole room was like, yes, it was.

Speaker 2

It was not even a discussion.

Speaker 9

It was like, oh no, we gotta happen, and that's not really happening for everybody.

You guys, I don't even know how to describe it to you.

You know, you guys are probably not really older than me, but you came in the game before me.

So I look up to you guys like you guys paid the way for all of us, Like y'all yond royal t h.

You're actually the first nice guys I ever listened to.

Everybody else was NWA, killer shit, fuck your moms.

This this that I remember selling jogs, playing pooles in my lawn.

Speaker 2

And I'm a.

Speaker 9

Buddy, buddy, buddy, and and so it's an honor for us to have you guys, because that's what this show is all about.

You know the reason why we got involved with the podcast, because it was like, people ain't telling this shit right, and then you got invalid people.

Speaker 2

Trying to make critique.

Speaker 9

No, no, like, who are you like trying to critique anyway?

Speaker 2

I'm not gonna do that.

Listen, day lost soul bro.

Speaker 9

It's a fucking honor and a half to have you guys on this show.

Speaker 7

Man.

We treated appreciate you.

Speaker 2

Truth love y'all.

I know we love you to.

Speaker 9

What I've just gotta I gotta explain it to you on the different explanations you guys are on a different level of explanation.

Speaker 2

I'm gonna go somewhere.

It's sad, but I'm gonna go.

You know, our brother.

Speaker 9

Passed away right, so we all know, we all know that when we die, there should be an outpour of love, right.

I tell my wife all the time, I said, Yo with fad Jo did give bread cause anybody who ain't never big a up, they're finally gonna be like, I'm a bigger mop Like let's say the truth.

Speaker 2

About this guy.

Right, But your man died and the outporn was legendary.

Speaker 9

And did it surprise you that he got so much of an outporn because even me, my shit was like teared up my message, Like I watched people who don't big people up big him and y'all up on another level.

Was that surprising for me?

Speaker 7

I don't.

Speaker 1

I wouldn't say it's surprising.

I mean, we've been blessed from the beginning to travel all over the world, so we know, and we're humble enough to see the effect we've had gracefully enough on people.

Speaker 2

It was just a blessing.

Speaker 1

And I feel like a lot of people they were rooting for us, like they was like, yo, man, y'all was going through your situation with that label and all that, and y'all got y'all your masters and da da da dah, and right before the finish line lost.

So I just think like it was that everyone was already in with us from that context, and so it was.

Speaker 10

Like, damn, y'all know, was for the underdog kind of Yeah, it was definitely overwhelming to see the everyone we came up with, everyone that just in the industry.

He come out and they had that same effect, you know what I mean.

It wasn't it wasn't fake.

Speaker 9

Yeah, one of the most outpouring of sincere love that I had seen in the industry myself.

You know, you guys are respect is that you know when you're a man of respect, when you lived on this earth, traveled everywhere, you wear and you guys are just men of respect.

You are you are you trailblazers, you pioneers.

You make whatever music you want to make.

And then finally there's a moment that unfortunately is it.

It's a sad moment, but it's a time where you go, yo, let's let's say what we.

Speaker 2

Think about these guys.

Let's let them know.

Speaker 9

That's how I felt from the outside.

And I know you was dealing with your brother.

You know that's blurry.

You know what I'm saying, Shawn, See here, big up Shawn Seed when Big Punt passed and that whole ship was a blur.

You know, no matter who's calling you or showing you love or whatever, You're like, this is crazy, you know what I'm saying.

But that that was beautiful to see.

Jada, you got your.

Speaker 2

I'm kicking it.

Speaker 11

Cavin Skot new album, No Doubt Brother that It is produced by Pete Rock coming out on the Massive Pill part of the Legend series.

Speaker 4

Some incredible features on it.

And what was it like just making this album, especially you know.

Speaker 7

But Dave not dead?

You know, how did it feel?

Speaker 4

What was the mistake I was you know for dudes that on understanding making the album, shoot them a little bit of the process and you know the feelings.

Speaker 1

Yeah, well it's like some of the music we had because originally we were suppolled to do this album called Premium Soul in the Rocks with Pete and prem Wow.

So it just kind of, for whatever reason, just never really got off.

This never never happened, But we had stuff in the can, some from Pete, a little bit from prem Peter from Master Appeal and NAS.

They came to us and it was like, yo, man, we want you to be a part of his Legend series.

We would love for y'all to do this, but y'all gotta have this album ready by this year.

So I was like, Yo, let's let's you know, let's do it.

So we saw what we already had kind of in the can.

The thing is that we had stuff from Dave, from other producers that we worked with, Super Dave West, we have some from Jake one Rock Cocaine Flow on the briand Dad album, stuff like that.

So we felt like, you know what, we can't just allow it to just be Pete and Prem.

We need to add and so we don't have to now take Dave's versus off and add.

Speaker 2

It to some other made up shit.

We didn't want to do this hard shit.

Speaker 1

Yeah yeah, man, But Dave he was with me, like seriously when we was making this shit.

He's right there with me, you know, and I heard him with me.

I like, Dave would always be like your merse, man, what you wrote is dope, But to put more of that bullshit on it, like he would say, like, you know, put that personality.

Speaker 2

And I kept him in my in my ear like that when I'm in the booth.

Speaker 1

And I was like, I can hit it harder and Sean C would be there and then he was like, nah, that was a good taken.

Nah, Nah, I could do it better because I just heard Dave telling me, now do it do it again and stuff like that.

Speaker 2

And I mean like just picking choices for uh different.

Speaker 1

Styles and for the album, like I felt like Dave was right there while I was right fuck you know.

Speaker 2

What I'm saying.

And I mean usually when he was physically here.

Speaker 1

We did a lot of that where me and Dave didn't have to be together, like we just so in sync.

And Dave was just such an ill nigga where like I would come in and then be saying my rhyme and he'll just put himself under the pressure listening to me in the booth and he'll just bang his shit out right there and then connect shit.

So the process was just like believe it or not.

For me, it wasn't hard.

It was just like I need.

I just knew that I was on one, like I had to prove like we can do this shit.

We're gonna do it for Dave, you know, and get it right, you know.

So that's how it was for me.

Like I don't know if niggas seen that Outsiders movie back in the day where the Matt dealing niggas like, Yo, we gotta do this for Johnny.

Speaker 2

I was like that for Dave, like we gotta do this shit for Dave.

So I was just on it like that.

Speaker 7

Nah.

Speaker 10

I concur Man for real, like it needed to have its presence, you know.

I think the record is it's therapeutic for everybody.

It's closure for a lot of us, and you can feel him throughout the record.

The whole cabin of the Sky idea to me is like he working on the record from up there, you know.

Speaker 9

Yeah, it's their name for like these albums when somebody passed, well, you say, pot hostumeus right.

I hate when they chopped ship up.

They get a free style from a fucking.

Speaker 4

Well you said the dude somebody I added to the ones he had Instead of this that way, they be jasaw positive people like.

Speaker 2

I'm gonna just keep it real.

Speaker 9

I never heard Biggie say a whack verse in my life, and they started playing with him.

They had like Biggie Christmas Eve.

Then niggas was just pulling out Ship from Victory verses and Ship they was just picking that ship on another level where I.

Speaker 2

Was just like, yo, this shiit like big wouldn't that did this?

Speaker 7

You know?

Speaker 2

And it's hard because you know, the fans they want anything.

Speaker 9

They want to hear this ship.

They want to hear what you got Dash, I mean somebody who did it?

Great Premo and Google their last album they had dropped together, The Gangstar that ship.

Speaker 2

I felt like Google was here.

I don't know if it came out five years ago or something.

Speaker 7

Yeah, Beet.

Speaker 9

Top, yeah, question, we got clips, we got Cardi B.

She definitely puts some ship out the park.

Yeah, and we got More Deep.

I listened More Deep every day that More Deep album is and it was just like really that ship, Yeah.

Speaker 1

You know it get me go.

But yeah, yeah, that's a good example of it's quality for us always over quantity.

You know, that's in y'all your whole life.

We try to, like you know what I'm saying.

We've always felt like, yo, we could marry ourselves to the right track.

Speaker 2

That's how I mean.

Speaker 1

Dave always approached music right circumstance.

We could do it like.

Speaker 2

I mean, crazy enough.

Speaker 1

We never even got to do one with y'all, but we was always like, yo, we gotta do joints.

We got to do one with the locks, like because we would have married the right ship, you know, not just to do it and then you'd be like, yo, I got to song with the locks, but the ship is bullshit.

That ain't us like when you like you guys don't work.

Speaker 9

Shock The thing I love most about y'all and something I tried to be to our whole career.

First of all, y'all got a lot of hits.

You don't get that catalogue out of this work.

Catalog is out of this world.

Number two is none of them sound the same.

I love that, you know.

I don't like to duplicate the recycle is somebody dead ass told me one time I'm in the studio like I should do leaning forward, lean.

Speaker 2

Back, Yo.

No, I'm telling you guys a flash.

Whoa.

I'm trying to tell you this is what they do.

They run with the same sauce.

This is what they do.

Speaker 9

They run with the same sort, They run with the same energy.

Trying to duplicate the last hit that's you got in your face, Now that stuff in you.

Speaker 6

Why when when yes, yes alone, but.

Speaker 2

I go through your catalog, nothing sound the same.

Speaker 9

I love that as a creative I love that because I'm like, all right, they're not chasing the same shiit same style.

I gotta take it back to a native tongue.

Right, how did that talk about?

No, you ran the era.

There's just no way around it, y'all.

Y'all was the most fire ship smoking.

Speaker 7

Oh y'all?

Speaker 2

Who exactly was in native tongue?

Speaker 9

Who came up with?

Yo, we'sh your old rock with each other.

That's crushio to hip hop?

Speaker 2

Yeah?

One day right now, it's missing.

It is missing.

One day I rolled up on at Africa's crib.

Africa was staying at it.

It was at Bay Ridge.

Speaker 1

Shout out to the Jungle brother Yeah, man, and Tip was already there.

I was selling a lot of crack to the Jungle Brothers.

But god gad, no family show.

Speaker 9

Okay nah, because I remember me on the plot listening to all that ship, you know, like it was it was that top.

Speaker 2

It was.

Speaker 7

So yeah.

Speaker 1

I rolled up to AB's crib and Sip was like, yo, app tell him what we was just talking about.

Speaker 2

I was like, what up?

Speaker 1

And he was like, yo, man, we got such a vibe together, Yo, when we make music, why don't we.

Speaker 2

Put our name under one name we call the native tongues.

Speaker 1

And I was like, IM with it, Like that sounds crazy because he was like yeah, like we don't we talk kind of like our language is the same, like we have this native kinship.

And I was like I'm with it.

I was like, yo, I'll go back and tell my name is y'all go back to it.

And that's what it was like they went the tribe.

Speaker 7

Best thing that never happened.

Speaker 1

Yeah, Like when I went to him, I was like and Dave and they was like, yo, we with it.

So we all just connected.

From that standpoint on.

Law was already coming around.

Latifa was just already coming around getting signed to Tommy Boy.

She would just come hang out with us in Long Island and like she was like a sister and became like a mother because she was so maternal and she could throw joints like she was just like so like he was like, yo, lot, gotta be down with this.

And so that was it right there, like and then people just start getting added all.

Speaker 12

Yeah.

Speaker 1

Africa was like mony and it was like never a question.

It was like half nose music.

If Africa's saying like we're gonna put money down and she's down some dead nice.

Speaker 9

I think she should have been bigger than she didn't and she got like only was dead nice.

Speaker 2

She was killing ship.

Yeah, she she definitely.

Speaker 9

I don't know what happened to where she should have come out with her own hits and projects and stuff like that, because we definitely as fans just waiting for Mony Love.

You know the Jungle Brothers man that was They even had the Girl Live House.

Yeah, man, you and my hunt Man.

Speaker 1

That's why I always say that, that's when he's doing In New York, he was doing track dates.

You just run up to Latin Quarters, you do one song you didn't jet up to like somewhere in Jersey, do another song, both to the Bronx.

Speaker 9

And he wasn't the only one doing that, brother, That was the Jitler circuit.

That was New York City Chicken Gitlan circuit.

Speaker 2

There you go.

Speaker 9

I do Young because I do White Plains and I do the FEVA in the Bronx, And I made twelve hundred that day.

Motherfucker wasn't paying shit ya.

That's realough why Flow Joe was number one.

I was getting five hundred dollars this show.

I was going Fairbille, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia.

Speaker 2

One day, one leap him when the ship was crazy on that.

Speaker 9

Now, yo, we made it through the starvation era right now, because that was depth.

I don't give a fuck how I seen, and I don't want him.

I don't want to quote me because I'm sure he's coming up here.

But you know, my idy l on cool j I heard him one time.

I don't know if it's true.

This might be you got a fact check, don't do that.

It might be a flag.

Speaker 2

But I heard him.

Speaker 9

Say he was doing like Arenus at his prime for like fifteen thousand, but he was the headliner of the whole, like Madison Squat.

Speaker 2

The money just wasn't dad like that.

Speaker 7

I mean, the ticket was like ten dollars.

Speaker 2

Ship like that right now.

You see the young boy NBA.

Speaker 9

He did a half a million fans them ballfuckers is paying.

You got to pay cause you I'm a sneak into Monica and Brandy.

I told him right, I'm sneaking in this ship to I'm telling you, I'm sneaking in this ship.

I told my wife, whoever's coming, I'm sneaking in, Yo, it's fat Joe let me like you see niggas in the back door.

Speaker 2

I'm sneaking in.

Speaker 9

I'm going in.

I'm like, yo, shot up the three of us like I'm doing that.

I don't even want to play with people with the tickets and ship like that.

It's musty.

I gotta go to Brandy Monica.

I'm sneaking in.

I told my whole family, Yo, look follow, he's real close.

Because I'm sneaking in and we don't actually have tickets.

We're gonna sneak in.

Speaker 2

Nah, them tickets is real.

Speaker 1

I just got my my wife like tickets to that show.

And then she realized that she had double book because she gotta do something with my door and take us someplace.

Speaker 2

And I'm like, yo, you got to figure that out because tickets is real.

Like, you gotta go that show.

Speaker 10

Don't sleep, but take your price on this red line into it's like to red line.

Sure, it's for certain people can't go.

That's why they make it a certain price.

Speaker 2

That's light.

Speaker 9

You go to a restaurant, you will see no black and Spanish people in there.

It's the prices crazy.

Yeah, man, you look around, you be like this, you a fucking clam.

It's one hundred and fifty dollars.

You're like, Yo, niggas ain't fucking this shit hit.

I'm going down the block like they ain't fucking with it.

I'm you, that's always been a gimmick, that Maryland report.

Speaker 5

Yeah it's always Maryland.

Speaker 9

Yeah no, but I'm telling you that's how I get down.

They outprice you so it'd be so much, it'd be so expensive that you be like, Yo, fucking I'm going over here, you guys.

Man, let me tell you something, man, I was so excited.

I was like a kid on Christmas today coming over here because I got daylight soul here.

Speaker 7

Now.

Speaker 9

I remember looking at Video Music Box and seeing y'all in the classrooms and seeing y'all, and I was just like, these guys are super legends.

Q.

Speaker 7

Tips one of my best friends.

Q Jim.

Speaker 9

I don't know if you know right, because you know no, No, I'm just saying, because you know, everybody got best friends, everybody got best friends.

You know, me and Tip we got a serious relationship for all these years.

Speaker 2

People don't know he might actually be my weirdest friend relationship because you just don't fuck with nobody.

You fuck with Joe Clack Yo, Joe's up Yo.

Q Tip is like you know you get him when you get him.

Speaker 7

And we all was like minded brothers.

Man.

Speaker 10

We loved each other even up to the very day.

Even Fight Patch, you know what I'm saying.

Fight was coming out on the road with us.

You know, he was our secret weapon when we was doing certain shows like Rock the Bells or whatever.

We got fight, but we got biz, you know what I mean.

So you know that's I mean this.

We was raised together.

Speaker 7

In this ship.

Speaker 10

You know, we stuck together.

You know, good and bad that's our music, no music.

We were family.

Speaker 1

Man, Me and this dude and Tip like we be in a chat every day usually talking like now like we would send records.

Speaker 2

We'll be having battles and the Jack Tip set it off.

Speaker 1

I'll throw something like a nigga you don't remember this one and mas be sitting on the sidelines.

Speaker 2

Also, he jumped in like we we bug out all the time.

Speaker 1

That's got a real studio on this Yes, we battery studios and it's brillion dollar.

Speaker 2

Bat got his batteries in his heart.

Speaker 9

Not no disrespect, not d block, not this this nigga has no No I'm just saying, listen, no, no, no, I'm not this in your studio.

Speaker 2

What I'm saying is, I'm not.

Speaker 7

Saying this show has been needed.

This show has been niggas has been beating.

Speaker 2

Listen to what saying.

Listen being looke y, I love y'all, worship y'all.

Speaker 9

Don't do that what I'm trying to say.

Speaker 2

You say that y'all.

Speaker 9

Believe he got the hit Factory and his fucking houses what like, you might as well just sign in the schedule.

Speaker 2

You going that ship.

You're in the hit factory.

He's not in his causet.

Like you don't go in this fucking refrigerators, pull out.

Speaker 9

Of die coke when you go downstairs.

You in a real studio.

Indeed, I can't believe that.

I never seen nobody have that in their house.

Nobody, right, not even like a Scott.

Speaker 2

Whist Man's Bubble Hill had a real studio.

You got the real ship.

Speaker 4

And that was the houses from he got off Eddie Murphy where they did party all the time.

That was the real study.

Speaker 7

I believe that anything.

Speaker 9

With Swiss, he got the Batman board yea, yeah, yeah you tip those on that l O Cool J song with Ross, He's like, Yo, what you got from me?

Come on, Joe, just talk that ship man.

Let's I say your first you asked me to come here some records.

Speaker 9

Now, now I gotta be on, you know, with my idol.

But I mean like he put me on the spot man shout out to Now.

Speaker 1

That's how that's our brother man.

He's he's on the new album.

He's on this draw we got called Dan the Sun.

Speaker 7

So yeah, like I won't talking about that.

Speaker 13

The features go ahead, let me I saw the feature Na Black Thought killing Little Mike the Crazy.

Speaker 14

Yeah, it's really about that came out with it.

If y'all important Metra, yeah, if y'all pull there are Chilli's some nice guys, every one of them came out Black Door yep.

Speaker 2

Warming.

Speaker 9

NAS's been spitting lately.

Birth no, no, no, no, no, what what you want me to say?

Yeah, I'm sorry, dog, you gotta you gotta get that one.

Speaker 2

You gotta get no.

Speaker 9

No, guys, let me his face under y'all.

Nobody's a bigger NAS fan than Fat Joe Bill Manic my favorite album ever.

I've actually credit him with most of my success from me studying him.

But in this Legend series, he found that flow where he just killing with the ship with big Al, the ship, everything, he just killing, you know what I'm saying.

Even though records that won the Gramby or whatever, it was still like a new Knaves flow.

Speaker 2

It wasn't that.

Speaker 9

Yeah, he's just been like going crazy on these songs with this Legend series right here.

Speaker 2

So you got all these streetes.

I mean, nobody gave you a hardtop.

Everybody just came through.

Speaker 15

No.

Speaker 1

No.

You know, we've never had a problem with asking we felt would be right for a certain track, you know, I mean, because we always had the mantra of like, yo, all you could do is say is no, like say no on to the next you know what I'm saying.

We've we've done that with certain people were like yo, all right, David Burne from Talking.

Speaker 2

Heads, let's ask.

All I do say is no, and he said yes.

It's like all right, well, so that's how it was.

Speaker 7

All the product what I say yes, I think would say no, yeah and uh and vice versa.

Speaker 16

Now the people as as your people, Yeah, it's be those those niggas and they freeze like you be like, yo, can you get a nom Them niggas act like they turned stone, like if you can't see them and ship and.

Speaker 2

It be like A I ain't gonna lie.

I ain't gonna lie.

Speaker 9

I chase Smaxwell for about ten albums.

I finally gave up.

He told me, yeah ten times we never showed up.

Yeah, he's the one guy never showed up a fat Joe and I love him.

I love Maxwell, but he's one of the guys who avoided me.

Speaker 2

But you know, I used to ever have to do that, Like I mean, like I wouldn't normally go to six ball all the time.

Speaker 9

Though I diss people all the time for not coming through.

No, it's just sometimes I don't want to do it.

Like sometimes you know, I say yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, none, it turned around.

I'm tired, man, this ship forty degrees.

He ain't really working.

I ain't coming out the crib.

Speaker 7

Fuck that.

Speaker 2

No, Yo, your business?

What's crazy?

Speaker 7

Like that business?

Speaker 2

But like Yo, I'm right around a quarner.

I'm running a nigga be in Maryland.

Speaker 7

Yo, your pis.

Speaker 17

Yo.

Speaker 2

Let me say biz Mark.

Speaker 9

He did my favorite hip hop song ever, my favorite hip hop song evers, the Vapors and the story of my life.

Speaker 2

You know, I was a bomb fucked up projects.

They used to laugh at me.

I used to tell them.

Speaker 9

Then I started coming around with the beam of the bends playing the vapors.

Speaker 2

So I played.

But I'm surprised I'm not dead from being obnoxious.

I played the vapors so.

Speaker 9

Fucked the line one mile per hour.

Through my projects, like maybe twenty times a day.

Speaker 2

I just drive around the product.

We caught the vapor, the vapors, one.

Speaker 9

Mile per hour.

Speaker 2

That's my favorite song of all time.

Ah, biz man, what a beautiful flag.

Speaker 6

Speaker 2

Andre the Giant cause you know, like niggas didn't have video.

Speaker 7

They didn't have video.

Speaker 3

You know, niggas didn't know.

So I was like, yo, makes sense, Yo, that's Andrea Giant.

I went up to you, said you was like, nah, pas, I'm fat.

Speaker 10

I was like, oh.

Speaker 2

Hey, hey, G's one of my lyrical hero like c aged.

He was so slim.

I was like, don't was like a giant.

Speaker 15

You know.

Speaker 2

I used to I used to stop a.

Speaker 9

G That's that's hilarious.

I used to stop ag all the time.

And I used to force him to say this wine he had this why I'm saying.

So she salls down by the sea, Sure, how much wood can the wood chuck?

Every time we pull up to a show and there's ten thousand people ready to go and say, Yo, hey, g tell me, why tell me.

Speaker 2

I was just so fascinated.

Speaker 9

I couldn't believe that he even said this ship like I used to I used to arrest They'll set out to a g man, my brother.

Speaker 2

But you thought I was all Ja the giants.

Speaker 9

How fat Man Scoop to this day thought I was somebody and I never told him I wasn't the guy fat Man's scoop said that he saw me battle some guys.

Speaker 2

He died digging you with somebody else.

Speaker 12

Yes, I'm sorry, Sorry, I love it school god, Yo, flat whoa though this scoop?

Speaker 2

Yo, fat Man?

Speaker 9

You know how you just said you thought I was all Jada giant fat Man the scoop at a store like that.

But he come up to me, Yeah, I've seen you battle ten guys.

You had a bottle of scope, and I'd be like, you're like that shit was dope.

I mean, to the day he died, he told me this story.

It was not me, And well, I think I told you that one time.

Speaker 2

Chaw See.

Speaker 9

He always thought I was this guy that he met battling like ten guys with a bottle of I guess his shit was like like listerine, split it out like some shit, and he would be like, yo, man, that was the illy shit.

Speaker 2

Ever that I ain't know how to tell him your school.

It ain't me like I'm whoa thirty years for thirty years, I didn't know how to tell him.

Speaker 1

It wasn't dain story.

You tell everyone why you standing right next to him and you can't.

You can't do nothing recipees fat man, because we lost a lot of good ones.

Speaker 2

Man.

Speaker 9

And that's another thing we coming of age, not that we gotta die.

You know, he say, trying to make a shit make you live one hundred and fifty years?

Speaker 10

I do.

Speaker 7

You don't want that.

Speaker 2

You don't want to live one hundred and fifty Anybody you know gonna be not if they don't get the ship.

They can't get it.

Is it possible for anybody you know they lived the world fifty If everybody you know to even go to James.

Speaker 7

Yo, oh man, I'm tell y'all, I'm watching my own show.

Speaker 2

Yo.

I love y'all niggas.

Speaker 9

You know, we try to do this shit.

You know we're crazy if we flies, this is dope.

And then he got his jokes.

It's like, Yo, you get it on your way home.

Sometimes I go home, I watch, I say.

Speaker 2

Yo, this thinker this me man.

Speaker 9

I didn't even I didn't even catch that ship.

That's why he's top five dead all alive.

Quittyes, fuck nigga be saying shit, I don't catch it.

On the show I watched, I said, Oh, I gotta get Jada.

I got get him this this guy, you're too witty.

Speaker 2

I can't pick up on the spot.

Let's talk about this for a minute.

Speaker 7

As we all been through.

Speaker 4

So ship with the label shut stay down in that battle, I know, always discouraging that.

Times he's ready to say, fuck this ship, we can't win.

But for ya to just stay firm and roll it out?

What was that like for this because.

Speaker 2

People were outside, they don't know how to scale his tip faults?

Speaker 7

Yeah, you know what I mean.

Speaker 2

Yo, it's wold.

I mean it's almost like I really don't want.

Speaker 7

To touch on it.

Speaker 18

But no, no, now you because less enough bring I'm away reaching the science this show and ms for the youth behind us to.

Speaker 1

Pick up on what we went through, it'll be a level of like you, young, someone gives you this opportunity.

Speaker 2

You never had anything, so you really don't know.

Like what they're giving you is like this little piece of bacon from a table back.

Speaker 1

God fucking seven thousand pigs you can slaughter and half for your own.

Speaker 2

So when you start learning, all right, cool, You learn, and you you hopefully negotiate, and you have people in.

Speaker 1

Your corner, and then but then you then realize that the nigga was negotiating for you.

Speaker 7

He's down with that nigga.

Speaker 2

Maybe that type of stuff.

Speaker 1

You start learning and standing and it's long the job training like any other learning on the women.

Speaker 10

Yeah, so as we've learned it, you know, you know, throughout the process, I start to learn like everybody's cutting the deal.

The deal is happening based on the value, not what we actually have.

So everybody want this deal to close so they could get it to get they cut.

So you did say and keep You get advised to do things that if you was advised a certain way, you might say, well, maybe I don't want to take the publishing deal.

I may want to keep my publishing and y'all keep that money.

The way they describe it, yes, today they describe it to you like you almost got to take you or you're not gonna say no, you're just not aware of what's that long term, you know.

So once you start to grow and learn this whole what this whole thing is all about, you have a lot more discernment, and then you you start to catch these things.

You read the contract, you learn more things here it is tommy boy.

I mean, we was in unprecedented situation where if a label folded, so did the bands too.

The group's gone too.

We've been able to hold on and move on and do things and let alone do more partnerships.

Why would I go back into an eighty nine deal?

Why would he even present me a deal like that?

How About it was already this, but you even present a deal like that?

Speaker 7

How About?

Speaker 10

But I give him, I give him grace because that's what he knew, that's what he learned, and that's what they tried to continue.

But you couldn't continue that with us.

Speaker 19

And I'm sorry, I just want to say, like, yo, it's not even like so nefarious where it's like someone is trying to do wrong by you, like they actually think they're doing right by you.

Speaker 2

You know what I'm saying, Like, yeah, man, like you know that's my nigga.

That's my nigga.

He didn't come with my back door, but I have a men felt like that.

Speaker 9

I have a mentor.

Many years later, his name was rest in Peace, jail Riding.

He's a billionaire.

He was a billionaire.

He passed away.

Speaker 7

Well.

Speaker 2

He always told me that everybody has to make money in order for you to be successful.

Everybody got to make money, not work for you, not be beneath you, not be this.

Everybody should be a business partner in a way.

And since he taught me that, I've had no headaches.

Everybody's happy.

Speaker 9

You pull up to my sword, the nigga driving a Ben's truck with Rolex on, everybody's happy.

Speaker 2

And that's how you eliminate that the problem is these guys they take advantage of me.

Speaker 9

Now what they do is, look, we can't bite the hand I fee just we should always salute the person who helped change our life.

Now if they still fucking you ten years later, fifteen years later.

So basically the way the game is they grab you young, you feel and they feel like they're doing you a favor.

Speaker 2

Yeah, if you're successful, as you're getting a little bit older, you're starting to learn the business.

Speaker 7

Right, But they don't get mad at me because I learned the business.

Speaker 2

No, but that's gonna happen.

Speaker 7

Ever, don't get mad at me because I learned my value.

Speaker 9

And so that's what's happeningtill what I'm trying to explain.

On your side, you're learning the business, and they keep renegotiating after they're making tons of money for you to get back to where it originally should have been fair.

So you always behind yeah, right, And then these guys they live in extravagant lifestyles.

They're fucking malleble.

Speaker 2

They are.

Speaker 9

They're no war in the water.

They this and this and that, and they're eating off of our pain.

Yeah, because our music it's pain.

So we we out here telling our story shit we went through and they overhere having a sweet life.

You understand, and refuse to see that.

Yo, maybe this is my number one guy.

Maybe y'all should make it fair and even like, I've never been like that.

Fat Joe has never been like that, So fat Joe.

If I have an artist recently, I had an artist maybe two three years ago.

Last artist, I doubt, right, young lady, I might have spent a million and a half out my pocket because I still think she should be a star.

Right, But when she told me, Yo, Joe, you know you're too busy with podcasts and this and this and that.

You know that I gave up papers in one second.

I'm not the oppressor.

I never understood the guy who was like, Yo, you can't go nowhere, you can't this and this and that.

It never been my style.

So it's pretty you know, disgusting that you guys have to fight like that, you know what I'm saying.

So to say you have to throw a mountain on your back, yeah.

Speaker 1

I mean they at one point was trying to do what they need to do in terms of Look, I got this label back.

Speaker 2

I guess the intention all along was to have it acquired.

Speaker 1

So we were putting a wrench in it being acquired without mess because we were arguing.

Speaker 2

But we was only trying to get what was fair.

Speaker 9

So we should have figured it out.

Don't know, not your fault.

They should have figured it out.

And to your your thing.

I just did a deal, right, don't want to brag about deals or whatever.

And I'm gonna tell you a story, right.

I don't owe nobody, no money, nobody, I don't owe nobody no money.

Speaker 2

And if I owe you money, you've been paid and not.

I don't know about it.

But I did this deal and they all.

Speaker 9

Made me sign like fat Joke twenty twenty five is a crackhead that when I do the deal, they automatically get their money.

They can't even let Fat Joe write to check to them or do the wire to them personally.

Speaker 2

They want that letter dick.

First off, rectly, yah pay to connect, but I signed up.

I don't have a problem.

Speaker 9

Oh you want to get paid, no problem.

You want to get paid.

You want to get paid.

You want to get paid.

You got You're deserving, You're deserving.

You put in work for the deal.

Speaker 2

But tell you the.

Speaker 9

Truth in the back you know more my morals clauses Fat Joe.

I felt the little back at this that you know me.

Speaker 2

I ain't no bomb.

Speaker 9

I've been around thirty years.

I do business with everybody, but you want your money off rip like direct to consumer.

I was like, you know, I felt the little ways.

You know what I'm saying, but it ain't nothing.

But at the end of the day, they knew we want to sell a shit.

It's worth one hundred million dollars two hundred million, give they lot, sole they shit and move on.

Speaker 10

Well, needless to say, Tommy boy sold the company to Reservoir Media, which they all bought.

Tommy Boyce's problem and the problem that was with us, they worked out fairly.

Speaker 7

Right off.

Speaker 2

I got jerked from my publisher.

Speaker 9

The man gave me fifty thousand dollars, told me, yo, you Latino like me, I'm gonna take care of you.

Jelly bean beneath it.

Oh, the man never gave me a dollar.

This shit, yo, this this this nigga dame come up crazy.

Yeah, yeah, whenever the's jerking or I got a brother right now?

Speaker 2

Wow?

Speaker 9

Speaker 2

Rich.

Speaker 9

We spent a year and a half brainbusting every yo's l e s straight, his young lord straight.

Speaker 2

It's like to do a deal.

Speaker 9

But this guy sells his ship for one hundred million, this with no accounting, no nothing.

Speaker 2

I'm like, I'm like, how does man been jerking me for so long?

Speaker 9

And then he could sell the catalog do All type of ship to just They won't allow us to do you you understand what I'm saying.

Speaker 12

How did these people get this is a delay.

I'm gonna tell you.

You me for so low with your sound, Greg, What the fuck?

Holy moly?

Speaker 2

This fact make what ye can't give me a better?

You know you want to know what's crazy?

Speaker 1

Is?

Speaker 2

Yo?

Speaker 18

Yo?

Speaker 2

I'm laughing like this off my house.

Speaker 1

Really, you lie.

Speaker 7

I'm watching these niggas at the Grandma five, but just like this, Yo?

Speaker 10

Yo?

What is this?

Speaker 7

Yo?

Speaker 15

Da?

Speaker 7

I don't give much honest, this shit is real.

Speaker 9

You give me one time sounded one time?

I get into a lawsuit with this guy.

The people suit me had the nerve to think I'm cool with him.

This guy jerked me for at least twelve or fifteen million or something.

He's a number one sort, but he's nowhere to be.

He's now I go online to the federal court.

This is a lawsuit and the man saying about this toy, he's standing beard me.

He says, Hey, Joe, I looked at this dude, I said.

Speaker 2

You said, how to me?

Speaker 9

Some of these guys are spineless where they don't even care they robbing, they don't care.

They'll look at you like yo.

This shit crazy.

But the more to the story is, you know, one day this.

Speaker 7

Anyway, I can't even say.

Speaker 9

Finally I got ship back fifteen years later whatever, But you know, one day I'm in a restaurant and they tell me that's Jellybean's.

Speaker 2

Kids or not the kids not?

The kids don't hurt, can't take gigs.

Don't it that the devil in me.

Speaker 9

With sitting there eating looking like I'm knowing that my kids sacrifice for those kids looking like Bippy non Stock and they up here some billion dollar restaurant, this, this, that, and they're like, yeah, those kids, And I'm like, I had to really find God and seek the Kingdom.

Think that spot the Kingdom back.

I seek the Kingdom on that one.

And no, I'm not threatened nobody.

Speaker 2

I had nothing to do with that.

But I'm just saying like, you gotta be very careful out here in these streets and they'll come back to you at some point.

Speaker 9

YEA, yeah, it come back sooner or lady, you think a motherfucker there, motherfucker rob I'm watching the series under Murdout, the lawyer from he killed his family.

But listen, the man was representing the man in a wheelchair, never walk again.

He wins the shit for eight hundred thousand, never pay him.

He representing ladies that died and their famili's blind now and this and all them lawsuits kept.

He kept the bread eight hundred millions million.

At the end of the day when they come to him, guy's fried.

This guy tried to kill his family for this shirt.

They don't give a fuck.

Speaker 2

They don't that that's nuts.

Speaker 7

Were gonna get a cabin in scott don't.

Speaker 2

I mean we would love to.

I mean, you know, one big show definitely, definitely, because we.

Speaker 7

Just acting we can pull it off with our question.

Tell you the truth.

Speaker 9

It's the only thing that I've ever been involved with in hip hop that never been no function.

Our crew we always loved each other, we always support each other, but no function, you.

Speaker 2

Know what I'm saying.

So, so that's like you know what I mean.

I would be down with that one million percent, that's a billion percent, you know, with all groups, that'd be crazy.

Speaker 7

I've seen that.

I'm not seeing that.

Speaker 1

I just love to see dudes who can you know, regardless of the age or whatever, man you know how to command the stage and do what they need to do.

Speaker 2

And all niggas sit in here and know how to do that.

Speaker 9

I think, like, let me ask you something, right, because I thought about this the other day.

Other than jay Z shout out the rock Nation, we in the building.

Yeah, other than Jay's see I even see Na's work, right, could we ever just say, yo, we don't we don't want to tour, like it's been a long time since I know what comes on at seven o'clock on ABC?

Speaker 2

What comes on at eight o'clock on ABC, nine o'clock on ABC, or something like?

Is there ever a time?

Speaker 9

Because Smokey Robinson in them is eighty five, Patty Labelle's eighty one.

Speaker 1

We did a show, ree, Yeah, we looked at a drummer.

Speaker 2

Someone I'm like on that that free space ship.

Speaker 1

George Clinton, like I I can rock until it's over, like Rolling Stones and Autumn, Like I love just going to our show age out.

We got generations there, like Black Don't Crack because when we rocked, when we first started, we were like eighteen, and it were like thirty years old.

Thirty year old people into like our music, you know what I'm saying.

And ten years old, you know what I'm saying.

Ten years old like now, like when we be at our shows, there's be generations there, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 9

Like, I'm gonna tell you what's crazy.

The other day, I went to Cats Delhi and I met a brother.

He was like seventy years old.

He was like, y'all watch you grow up.

For some reason, I ain't know him and I'm good with it.

By and the man starts showing me pictures of my uncle failed that passed away.

Speaker 2

My aunt Barber.

I knew you.

He no the fam.

So he was like, yo, I was there.

Speaker 9

You know, I'm from Washington, I'm from this.

This this is crazy because I'm fifty five now.

He was like, ain't too many gonna come up to you and tell you how they watch you grow up?

I watch you grow up.

Speaker 2

I said, all right, man, thank you.

Speaker 15

This.

Speaker 9

I call my aunt immediately, you know what I'm saying, called Thiet Barbara.

I was like, Yo, I met this guy that.

She was like, yo, come up to me to worry about it this because I didn't get his name.

Wait, it's crazy because I'm at the age now where people either gone on or they're the last thing they thinking about us.

Speaker 7

Fat Joe.

Speaker 9

You know somebody seventy five or someone who watched me grow up if they hit babe, We're not even talking.

I'm not talking about that.

What I'm saying is it's hard to find somebody watching grow up.

Yeah, right now it's kind of bugged out.

And again, man, huh, I want to hear some music.

Speaker 7

You got a chance.

Speaker 2

I'm ready.

It's daylight Soul in this motherfucker man.

Speaker 2

Word about it.

Yeah you stop.

Speaker 7

Speaker 9

I just don't drink, man, but don't start well, I don't drink, but I thought about getting drunk recently.

Speaker 2

I said, Yo, maybe I sled James open there.

James look good, top.

They've been a while since up there high on the street.

You know what I'm saying.

Let me go touch that ship, you know.

Speaker 9

And I used to get drunk and end up in people's cribs and ship like that.

I don't give a fuck when I'm drunk.

You could gasp me into anything.

They'd be like, yo, I mean Nigga's house part He's like, y'all fat, Joe's dangerous.

Speaker 7

Sitting on like.

Speaker 2

No, I'm telling you it's not good for me.

It's not safe to end up in the stranger's house drunk with a pharaoh.

Speaker 9

This is why I'm trying to tell you, Joe, that's just or that no A suspends.

Speaker 2

We run it all day, dude.

D long eye Lad, Long Eye Lad.

Speaker 17

It's the purse for the team here, the clean up the turf and the word of the dreams, the change the regime and the lead that we lay with the words that we spray with a way that we teach y'all to run it back with the palms, with the dice and the size that the slice, with the plate and.

Speaker 2

The weight and the height and the forms with the price, with the men of a mice.

When we on the price of the mice, never that that's a.

Speaker 20

Wrath on the line and the math of the signs that we make me the ca that we stacked on a grind on a run or a coin, and the one from the vine of the grape where you heard on the cat man.

It's the stain that we hang on our neck like a chain.

It's the piece of the pain at the least.

It's the lane that pro closed, that was dying in the side, with the rock cold cage, with the brain on the track.

O.

We're doing with the new and you beg for the bruise that we stirred and we heard that.

You don't have a clue how it's made.

It's the boon to the bat like the full and the pain that put through the sons of the feet.

And we stay on our toes, on our feet exposed to the car to the cree.

Speaker 2

Because our ears in the street and our minds in the stars.

Man, y'all know who we y'all talk.

Speaker 7

You won't be photograph or what if I have to run through half of your crew.

I'm only trying to get smarter like fipercenters at Follom and Haller repped the bottom, run it back, not the bottom.

Speaker 22

Like the bottle of snake.

Why would the snake still in it?

We sip to see if it takes top of the filling.

I'm speaking the builders ghetto ten and mister militants, no suburban your privileges.

Speaker 2

Running back from the rap.

Speaker 22

It's no wonder that there's the magic number and needed that number that's full.

The fourth feet to the fourth is easy top member the fourth foogie who meet a fantasize musically.

Speaker 7

When it's suiting you?

Speaker 2

Because wilds is the eighties, nineties and thousands.

How it would sick?

How did this slip?

Speaker 22

That was just those gott and scissors with most powerful hits Leon Thomas Shaboozi with the cuntry rap on these black artists on top of the truck, somethings wrapping running back not only the other only black, No start with that.

The problem hatch probably with NASA back in ninety nine.

In fact, what's now the pride from getting dimitd back?
