Speaker 2And Kevin An iHeartRadio podcast.
Speaker 3Welcome to and That's what you really miss podcast.
Speaker 1Happy New Year everyone, Happy new year, Jenna.
Thank you so much for an incredible twenty twenty five.
It was a year of change, a year of transition for us.
But we are so grateful for everybody here.
You guys are the.
Speaker 3Best listeners and the best fans, and we can't believe you're still here with us.
Speaker 1So we're so grateful that you come back with us every week.
Speaker 2Brave of you.
We appreciate it.
Speaker 1Wow.
Wow, Yeah, happy.
Speaker 2This has been so much fun.
I'm glad to like have a full year of doing this.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Yeah, I mean it is.
Speaker 3There's it's been crazy, like finishing Lee, did you ever think you're going.
Speaker 1To finish the whole thing?
Speaker 3No?
Speaker 2And I also, I honestly felt like we did it so quickly.
Speaker 1It was really fast.
I went really really fast, wasn't it.
Speaker 3Because those shorter seasons at the end two really good.
I crept up and then you're just like WHOA.
But it's been really exciting to like do these new do this new format, and do all these new musical TV shows.
Speaker 1And movies.
Speaker 2I'm and get to interview so many new fun people that we never thought we'd have a chance to talk to about these things.
Speaker 1You know, Hairsbury really surprised me, like coming out the gate real strong.
You know, hairsprayce great.
What musicals are you looking for?
Do recapping?
Speaker 2Oh my god, even the ones I like historically have not enjoyed.
I'm just excited to like watch everything with like new eyes, a new appreciation.
I want to see all that jazz I've never seen it.
Oh yeah, I really want to watch that.
But like some of the classics, I have not watched many.
Speaker 3Yeah, I am not either.
We have we have some to get through, and we have some like not classics, but oldies that like we haven't done yet, Like keep talking about the newsies.
We have to do our like Quintessential Chicago at some point that's going to be a big one.
Yeah.
I'm also excited to do some more of these musical TV shows, like also the ones that are not naturally musicals but have done musical episodes.
Speaker 1Yes, very interesting.
Speaker 2Like the Flash musical.
Speaker 1Yeah exactly, That's what I was thinking about.
Speaker 3Did you have any good things that you discovered this past year in terms of media, Like, I know you read a lot.
I don't read a lot, So what what did you discover this past year?
Speaker 2Look, I had a slower reading year, but you were working.
But I read Stoner, which is like a classic by John Williams that some people have recommended.
I liked it.
It's very viby.
Not a lot happens, It's sort of sad.
The Ministry of Time was really fun.
It was not exactly what I thought it would be.
It's a light, easy read.
It's sort of like a good vacation read.
Love That Love That Martyr was also really really interesting.
I don't want to give away any of the plata, but I actually it was a very, very very solid reading here.
I liked everything I read.
I read The Safe Keep, which was also wonderfully written.
So a lot.
I mean, let's see TV.
I watched a lot of TV.
Speaker 3Yeah, yeah, you watched more than I did.
Speaker 1But we watched a lot of TV this year.
Speaker 2I think a lot of Look, I'm not saying you should watch heated Rivalry.
I don't know if watching gay boys have lots of sex as your thing.
Speaker 3But particularly but I always try something for one yet try it out.
I will say we just finished the Beast in me.
Oh happy race and clar Dings very good.
The tone is a little funny, It's like a tiny bit soapy, but like I stood, the writing was very good.
Speaker 1I really enjoyed that.
Speaker 3I also was very I got back into true crime just a little bit, like it dipped my toe back in a little bit.
Speaker 1And the trial of Karen Reid.
I watched the.
Speaker 3Series on it and then her actual like a pellet trial or whatever it came.
The verdict was coming out the day I finished it, and it was like I was like, what timing?
So it was really great.
I really enjoyed that.
What else did I see?
Speaker 1What else?
Speaker 2I watched?
The Diplomat, the Sea was great, Slow Horses was great.
Speaker 3Oh I I watched Severance for the first time this year.
Oh, very interesting Severance very Yes, loved it.
Speaker 2Did you prefer season one or two?
Speaker 1Definitely one, But I enjoyed too.
Speaker 2I feel like I've heightened anything was possible my obsession with Formula one.
I just I didn't.
I didn't miss a single race.
Speaker 3Wow.
Speaker 2I watched qualifying almost every single like I just I love it.
No matter where I am, I will wake up.
I will watch it.
Sometimes I'm my way to the theater and I'm watching it on my phone.
Adolescence was also so good.
That was unbelievable.
Speaker 1What a great show.
That was the show of the year.
Speaker 3I think just the craftsmanship of the show actually so good.
Speaker 2Yeah, I watched Task.
I thought it was good.
Wasn't like my you know, I still watch it when I have to come home and not talk, watching all day and not talk.
I'm just watching so much TV.
Speaker 1Sure, that's what you gotta do.
Yeah, very exciting.
Speaker 2Do you have any I hate to ask this, but resolutions, resolutions or goals?
Speaker 1No, I have none.
Speaker 3Respect this past year, I was like, all I want is like calm and what started?
Speaker 1How did twenty twenty five start out?
I'm not even gonna tell you.
It's just we know how it started out.
It was just awful for everybody, especially La.
Speaker 3Yeah, and so I'm not even I'm at the point where like in twenty twenty, you're like, twenty twenty one, it's gonna be the best year.
Twenty twenty she's gonna be even better.
We're coming out of this pandemic.
And then you hit like twenty twenty five, and then you're like, I'm forty this year, and my expectations have just I am done.
I have no expectations.
I'm not asking for anything, because usually I get the opposite.
I am just going in like, please let me survive.
Yeah, please let me make it through.
And if we do, that's a win.
Speaker 2Yeah, have a nice time with your family and friends.
Speaker 1That's what I'm talking about.
Speaker 3I don't have any relation work, I have no goals, I have no words.
I just have I am just I am driving to survive.
Speaker 2Come on, formula one, What about you?
Speaker 1Do you have any resolutions?
Speaker 2Not really.
I would say twenty twenty five was one of the crazier years for me.
It was sort of like.
Speaker 1Jesus take the wheel totally totally.
Speaker 2I was like, it was a lot of change and a lot of which was really exciting.
Yeah, I know it sounds bad, but it was just like a really fun like being very open to whatever.
And I feel like I'm still in that mode, like I don't know what's next.
Who knows.
I didn't think I was going to be living in New York.
Speaker 1Right doing a show that you did already and.
Speaker 2At the top of the year that wasn't even an option living in New York City and so like I've lived in la in London and New York in twenty twenty five, so who knows what's next.
And I'm just having a great time.
So I feel like being open, no expectations following, like I'm doing something I really I enjoy doing this with you.
I really love like doing spelling be as well meeting lots of nice people like career wise, doing all this theater has just been really fun and really refreshing and nice, and like living in New York has been great, and so it's just crazy open to whatever.
It also feels weird, like my whole family's been through like my yeah, like I've said before, my parents moved to Connecticut since the first time in over thirty years, almost forty years.
Actually it has been forty years.
So like, you know, there's a lot of change and who knows.
Makes me feel young again.
Speaker 1I love that.
I love that for you see six.
Speaker 2Brings I do have, like, okay, one resolution I will say maybe sorry.
Speaker 1Great, bring it on.
Speaker 2This is bad in all of that craziness, like moving around a whole bunch, reorganizing, like redoing a house, learning multiple shows.
Something had to get sacrificed and all of that, because I like, I've been super happy, really enjoying it.
The thing that has been sacrificed is like maybe me physically mentally killing it.
You like, physically, I've just been it feels like, you know what, you've been in theater rehearsals a lot more than I have, and things like that.
And when you're it's like one thing after another where you're just like, I just have to get through this, so I'm just gonna eat whatever I don't have time to.
Like, the thing that gets cut off is like this type of food I'm eating and yeah, yeah, fitness.
Speaker 1I get that, and you find it.
You'll find it.
Speaker 3It's also very hard to get feel motivated physically in freezing cold weather.
Speaker 1There's nothing less motivating.
Speaker 3In my world than like being in New York in the winter and being like, I should work out, I should eat something not warm.
Speaker 2Like it's also because like you're covered up in all these As soon as I catch myself with me, I'm like, but also yeah, yeah, yeah, so like I just maybe like cook a couple of meals, you know.
Speaker 1Yeah, it's it's a it's a thing to get into in New York.
Speaker 3It's different.
It's a different vibe and a different feeling, and I'm it's so, it's so hard.
This next year year is the year of the Horse in the Chinese zodiac.
Speaker 2By the way, what does that mean?
Speaker 3So it's it's usually associated with energy, freedom, and momentum, it says this next year, so specifically, twenty twenty six is the year of the fire Horse, I guess, symbolizing a combination of the horse's free spirited nature with the passionate and dynamic element of fire, which can lead to a year of bold action, change and progress.
We love that.
So this period is expected to be energetic, with a strong push for innovation, self expression, and taking leaps of faith.
Speaker 2Well see, there you go.
Speaker 1A leap of faith.
That's for you, and you're.
Speaker 2I feel like that's continuing what I've been doing.
Speaker 3This could be a good time to make a change in your career or your personal life and take a risk or pursue a long held goal.
Speaker 1This year's energy may feel.
Speaker 3Restless or charge, so it's a time to harness that energy rather than being overwhelmed by it and being prepared for rapid developments and a strong push for innovation and self expression in both personal and global spheres.
Speaker 2I feel like you have like so much momentum going with, Like there's lots of exciting things happening with Asian American Girl Club.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Yeah, we haven't even talked about that.
Speaker 3So I'm working at a company called Asian American Girl Club that was founded by our friend Ali Mockey many many years ago as a with an Instagram post and a logo and like a T shirt for a sign of friendship and belonging.
But this year we've had some really cool developments and I've come on board in a more official capacity.
But one of the most exciting things that we're doing is I'm podcasting.
More so, I'm producing and hosting a new podcast called Undefinable for Asian American Girl Club.
And it's me and my friend, another actress friend Kara Wang, that are hosting it, and we're just chatting with amazing, amazing trail blazers from the community and friends and then sometimes it's just us.
But we're really doing this for the Asian American girl community that's already been there for us and you know, there for the company, and so it's just another way to reach everybody and to really.
Speaker 1I don't know.
Speaker 3Podcasting is just one of those things that I guess I'm I do all the time now, but you're good at it.
Speaker 1But it's fun and it's different and and so.
Speaker 3You guys should go listen to it.
It airs in January, so keep a lookout and we'll share more as more details arise.
But yeah, it's been really fun to pivot a little bit.
I do feel a little bit like Tita conch Hang where we are like, oh, she'd be like doing something like running a company or doing all these things, and I'm like, oh, Tina.
Speaker 2It's very impressive to watch you because like you're really low key and cool about everything you have to do, Like you're one of the busiest people I know, but you make it look so easy and like, oh, that's very kind, not fussed about anything, you know, like you don't ever want to make anybody's problem.
But you you know, people don't always see behind the scenes of what goes on, what it takes to especially do what you guys are doing with Asian American Girl Club and like building like a real yeah we're a.
Speaker 1Free revenue and play startup now.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, exactly.
So it's just very, very exciting.
It's very fun to watch you do this, and it's inspirational.
Wow, And so I'm glad you're you know, getting to share all that with your friends and coworkers.
Speaker 1Yeah, oh my god, you're the horse.
Everybody, Yes, the horse.
Let's go.
Oh it's crazy, it's so crazy.
Speaker 2So I'll go buy some Asian American Girl Club March.
Speaker 3Yeah, we've got a little bit, We've got some hero products, but we really are evolving into like the production space and podcast space and media space, you know, amplifying our voices.
Speaker 1So it's very exciting.
Speaker 2There's no better people to do it than the people who have literally been on the inside of the entertainment business like this too.
Speaker 1Yeah, it's fun.
Speaker 3It's like a different way of telling the same stories that we were commissioned to tell as actors, and now we're just taking control of it.
Speaker 1A little bit more.
So it's been fun and enjoyable, and so we hope you guys go over.
Speaker 3And listen and share with your friends, and you know, you know the deal you listeners out there now.
Speaker 2And it's a trusted source, you know, it's like they know you guys know what you're talking about you've lived the life from the experience.
Yeah, and it's just it's nice that it's coming from you guys, for you guys.
Speaker 3Well, we hope you guys have a wonderful new year and a good start twenty twenty six and we're happy to kick it off with you.
Thank you for an incredible last year and we look forward to the next one.
