Choc-tops and Cassata Teaser - series coming mid July 2025
[00:00:00] Santo Cilauro: So was there any bit of the cassata you didn't like?
[00:00:02] Carlo Zeccola: You know that red bit that looked like fish roe?
[00:00:06] Santo Cilauro: I love that, that was my favourite bit.
[00:00:07] Carlo Zeccola: What was it?
[00:00:11] Santo Cilauro: This series, Choc Tops and Cassata, takes a peek into the way Italian migrants got their fix of movies, from the end of World War II to the advent of SBS in the early 80s.
[00:00:21] Elisabetta Ferrari: There were about 16 Italian language cinemas.
[00:00:25] Santo Cilauro: Did they all show the same bad movie?
[00:00:27] Elisabetta Ferrari: I think they all did. In fact.
[00:00:28] Gus Berger: I think if it wasn't for Greek and Italian cinemas, we probably would have lost them all.
[00:00:32] Antonio Zeccola: When they came, they didn't want one cassata, two cassata. They wanted a box full of cassata's!
[00:00:37] Santo Cilauro: Sergio Leone's calling.
[00:00:38] Jan Sardi: Sergio Leone's calling.
[00:00:40] Santo Cilauro: Homage.
[00:00:40] Jan Sardi: Homage everywhere you see homage is, you only steal from the best as you would know Santo, right?
[00:00:45] Santo Cilauro: Oh, me? No, of course not, I would never do that!
[00:00:50] Mark Nicholls: Am I the token skip again in this conversation?
[00:00:52] Elisabetta Ferrari: I know, I know.
