Speaker 1

Hello, and welcome to Outspoken Plus.

It's your extra dose of the hottest influencer and pop culture news.

I'm Kate Torbert and coming up on today's show, Indy Clinton sparks debate about the toothberry, Laura Byrn and Maddie Jay, Welcome Baby number three, and the controversial AI photos.

Speaker 2

Of Liam Payne and Kate Cassidy.

Her first Sarah's Day.

Speaker 1

Has unveiled the fancy drinks her and her husband Kurt liked to drink at nighttime.

Speaker 2

And I was pretty interested to see because she and Kurt.

Speaker 1

Don't drink alcohol, and I'm all for having like a nice pick me up drink after I've put my son to bed to go with my meals.

I was like, Oh, this is going to be cool, Like I'm guessing it will be a fancy mocktail with maybe some fruit in it, some pomegranite.

However, I was really disappointed she got wine glasses out, put ice cubes in, and then mixed up some of her electrolytes that she's spooking, and I was like, is that it?

I think she realized how boring it was.

And then she got some sort of like collagen syrup out of the fridge and porter on top.

I don't know if that makes more interesting.

That sounds like something you drink in the morning before you do a workout, and not something that you unwine.

Speaker 2

Too at nighttime.

Speaker 1

I was like, God, is this how dire the hiro situation has gotten.

Off the back of that, I'm guessing failed campaign because it seems to be a lot of it's still available and they're now having to spook at us our nighttime drink.

Maybe they're like, God, I've got so many of these saschets left.

Speaker 2

We're going to get rid of them.

Speaker 1

One thing I did relate to that Sarah said, though, is the fact that Pheel's fancy to drink any drink from a wine glass, even if it's not wine.

Speaker 3

Yeah.

Speaker 1

I got a flashback on snapchat and it was like two years ago, and I used to drink my kombucher out of one of those Target Coop glasses at nighttime.

And I'm like, I have to bring that back because I think, especially having a young child, your nighttimes are so exciting now, like once they're in bed, you're like, fuck, yes, this is me time.

You need to romanticize those times.

Well, I've been drinking sodally.

I'm trying to get off coke zer or.

I spoke about it on another episode, but they're that good and I always have to make sure I have ice in my drink though I feel like it just doesn't seem like a treat if it doesn't have ice.

I am deep in my Coke zero era.

I hate saying the word era.

I feel like an annoying gens at it.

But we have been buying the slabs of coke no sugar in a can, and I feel like that is a game changer.

I can't have it out of the bottle now.

I saw a guy on TikTok rating the Coke zero experience.

Speaker 2

He rated the two later bottles as the worst.

Yeah, and it's true.

Speaker 1

They do not taste as good as the one point two five or obviously the cans or the smaller bottles.

Speaker 2

They really don't.

Speaker 1

But you were asking before about drink of choice, and I have to put it out there.

Amy has got me into the celsiest energy drinks.

Speaker 2

Where do you get these from?

I don't even know the brand.

Speaker 1

I have no idea where she got it from, but I've heard about it because Saffron Barker is a big fan of them.

She's always breaking them, and usually you can only get them in America, but I think Amy's found somewhere that sells them.

Speaker 2

She brought one over for me.

Speaker 1

It was a watermelon flavored one, and obviously, having a young baby, there's a lot of early mornings and I had one of these and oh my god.

Speaker 2

It put a pep in my step.

Speaker 1

I think it's important to point out that we don't drink, so that's why you're looking for something that's going to pepuli.

It's not coffee because we get headaches if we have it.

Well, that's not why I don't have mine, just don't like the taste.

I was talking a mile a fucking minute on this thing.

I was like, Wow, I feel on top of the world, but I don't want to become reliant on it.

I've only had one so far.

Amy must be deep in like beverage TikTok if that's even a thing.

Because she was telling me about this amazing energy drink that's like a Macha one from Stephen Bartlett's brand.

Well, this one has green tea extract inner and it's got no sugar, so it's supposed to be healthier than I suppose a monster, but it's still not great for you.

Speaker 2

It's still an energy drink.

Yeah, I was going to say, I don't know if any energy drinks are healthy.

Speaker 1

Well.

When I worked in breakfast radio, I was one of the few people who didn't drink coffee.

Speaker 2

My little treat would be at.

Speaker 1

The end of a shift, so I would start at I'd have to be in there at four am, and because I only did it part time, I could leave at nine and I'd be driving home when everyone else was driving to work, and I would stop at the little bakery at Brighton and get myself a Lentil pie, and that my treat.

If we're gonna say coke zero frozen cochd nah, I can't drink coke zero in the morning.

Speaker 2

It just seems wrong.

Just a warning.

Speaker 1

If you are listening to this podcast out loud with little ears, I think you should pop some headphones in because we will be discussing the magical world of the tooth Fairy.

Indy Clinton has sparked debate about how much money kids should receive from the tooth Fairy.

The TikToker rage baited her audience by pretending to give her son one hundred and fifty dollars for his first tooth.

So, if it was clear from the get go, Indy was taking the role of the tooth fairy very seriously.

Yeah, I really like this As a new parent, this is something that I can't wait to do create those magic moments.

And Indy said that while she has been Father Christmas and also the Easter Bunny, she's ready for this new role.

And she definitely did put a lot of effort into it.

So she created a whimsical fairy character called Opal, and she bought this cute little fairy jar which she filled with blue glitter for the note and money to go in.

Speaker 2

It was all very.

Speaker 1

Wholesome, but her biggest concern was what she was going to do with the tooth afterwards.

So her fairy character Opal was going to use it as a wheelbarrow for her fairy house.

But as for Indy, she had no idea what to actually do with it, and Big Ed had a suggestion of his own.

He said, just throw it in the bin.

Now that I have a baby, I'm like, I could never throw any of his teeth in the bin, and it kind of makes me feel bad for calling our mom out because on the podcast before we've spoken about the fact that she was a dental therapist for forty years and she was very strict about what we could eat.

We were never allowed to drink orange juice soft drink.

We only had soft drink on the weekend, which now say things like we're rebelling and having it every day.

Anyway, when it came to our teeth, I think she talked you and I into saying, oh, we want to keep our teeth.

So the tooth fairy actually never took our teeth.

She left them, but Amy was like, no, I want the tooth fairy to take them.

We had this book growing up about how the tooth fairy would take the teeth and build a castle out of them, so I think Amy wanted to help the tooth fairy with her castle.

However, when we were old, we discovered that Mum had kept all of our teeth, including Amy's, in these like girkin jars in the back of the pants.

So I have to defend mum our teeth because we chose to keep them, they were preserved in nice little boxes, whereas because she had to hide Amy's teeth, hers were the ones in a girkin jar filled with water.

Speaker 2

But couldn't she have just hid Amy's in a box somewhere else.

Speaker 1

I think she was afraid that she would find them.

Imagine searching in the pantry looking for girkins of being like, ah, well, kin's teeth is so little as well.

I mean, Indy almost lost the tooth during the filming of the videos.

Speaker 2

Things.

I suppose you don't want to be burying them in the backyard, Like that's going to be a bit creepy.

Speaker 1

So I'm so confused why would you bury them on?

Trying to work out what you do with them?

I'm thinking, like when your pet passes away, you bury them, and.

Speaker 2

Like teeth kind of fucking odd.

Speaker 1

I'm sorry, just throw on the bin.

If you're going to get rid of them like that, you bury them.

They probably think there's a murder that's gone on.

Speaker 2

That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 1

I'm just trying to work out, like what would you actually do, Like what are you supposed to do with them?

Can parents send in and say what they've done with their child's teeth?

Because I'm very intrigued getting back to this story.

Though Indy really does have ticked down to a fine art.

She is fantastic at drawing an audience in so she started the video by shocking her followers with just how much Navy would apparently be receiving for his first tooth.

Let's have a listen to what she said.

Speaker 2

One hundred and fifty dollars was a good amount, but he's first two.

Speaker 1

At all in a moment.

Oh so this was at the start of her video, and I pretty much ran to the comment section, and as expected, parents were losing their mind.

So one follower said how much is the tooth fairy giving in capitals, which received over eight hundred likes.

Another said, I'll whip my teeth out and you can be my tooth fairy for one hundred and fifty dollars.

What do you think the going rate for a child's tooth should be?

Well, not one hundred and fifty dollars.

Like growing up, we used to get one dollar for our teeth.

That was the going rate.

I remember hearing some kids got a note like a five dollars and a ten and I was like, what the hell I mean?

I suppose thirty years on with inflation, maybe it should be a five dollars zero.

Speaker 2

I've got no idea really.

Speaker 1

I saw in the comment section there was a teacher who was suggesting that parents should make.

Speaker 2

Sure that they tell their child that each child has.

Speaker 1

An individual tooth fairy, so that's why they are differing amounts of teeth.

I mean, you'd probably be like, why have they got this cheap ass tooth fairy that's given me?

Speaker 2

Fuck all?

Speaker 1

Yah.

School makes it so difficult.

And social media, I mean it's the same at Christmas time and also Easter, how people just go so over the top.

At least with Christmas there is the buffer of the six week holiday break where kids have probably forgotten what they got.

Speaker 2

For Christmas by then.

Speaker 1

Now, I do want to point out that Indie hasn't totally lost her mind.

She was, in fact rage baiting her followers because in the video she pointed out that she was just joking and added a five dollar note to the jar.

She also said in the comment section that she convinced herself out of giving one hundred and fifty dollars and decided to spend it on getting her nails fixed instead.

She did almost get sprung in the act though, when she was performing her role of the tooth fairy because because when she was creeping into Navy's room to retrieve the tooth, somehow Netflix started blaring on her phone on no So bad Batchela Power couple Laura Byrne and Mattie J.

Have welcomed baby number three, a beautiful girl called Poppy Pearl Johnson.

I feel like this name was very on theme, particularly with their first daughter, Marley.

Speaker 2

May like the two m's.

She's got the two piece.

Speaker 1

Their middle daughter, Lola, though she didn't get an l middle name, she is Lola Ellis.

There's a lot of el's in Ellis.

It's clearly like very cute.

Speaker 2

See names now.

Speaker 1

Days prior to the official announcement on Instagram, Mattie J.

Speaker 2

Teased his followers that Laura was.

Speaker 1

In labor, so he uploaded a video of him performing this jokey interpretive dance to apparently distract her from the contractions.

It was very Megan Markle of him to do so because he filmed it whilst he was in the hospital room.

I mean a little bit different because Megan was in labor, But I see where you're coming from with that Baby Mama dance isn't the same song though, No.

He also shared a photo of the dreaded leather fold out hospital chair that most fathers have to sleep in and wrote, so old Fox.

Speaker 2

We meet again.

Speaker 1

But following those posts, it was pretty much radio silence, and I noticed in the Life Uncut Facebook group there were a lot of listeners who were growing increasingly impatient and saying, oh my god, Laura feels like a friend.

I want to know what's going on.

I hope she's okay.

I hope everything's okay.

So on Saturday, Laura and Maddie Jay finally broke the news, writing third time really is a charm our.

Sweet little Poppy girl is here and we are truly and utterly obsessed with every interview Poppy Pearl Johnson, Welcome to the world, precious one.

The other comment section, of course, blew up, and Laura's co host Britt wrote, there she is utter perfection and Poppy is key too.

I found the announcement a little bit anti climactic because Mattie Jay already dropped the baby name on his podcast weeks ago.

Well it wasn't actually even on his own podcast, it was on the Stellar podcast Something to talk About, which was even odder.

Yeah, I mean, Laura has spoken a lot about how with baby number three, she hasn't really been reveling in how magical this experience is because she's been so distracted with looking after her two other kids and making sure all their work is done, because she's worked right up until her labor.

So maybe it's just like a case of they got so used to using the name that it's just slipped out, and they're like, we've got to run with it.

I mean, I was in a similar situation with Jack's name in terms of with family and friends.

Speaker 2

I was just telling everyone his name.

Speaker 1

But well, he said during this interview with Stella, We're absolutely excited and cannot wait to meet this little girl.

Poppy and Laura only found out about the slip up when a follower asked her during a Q and A whether she punched matt in the ovaries for revealing the baby name, and she responded saying he did fucking what.

And then later that night they filmed themselves in bed while Laura questioned Mattie Jay about it, and initially he kind of denied it in a joking way, but they both ended up having a laugh and Laura suggested that he obviously just.

Speaker 2

Let it slip.

Speaker 1

Well, she's got something else to be annoyed at Mattie about, because on one of the most recent episodes of Life Uncut, the one she filmed just before she gave birth, she spoke about how this time around she was going to.

Speaker 2

A private hospital.

Speaker 1

However, it turns out that matt is the one that takes care of all of the private health insurance, and she kept asking him, Oh, can you send me this form I need to submit it to the hospital, and he kept kind of putting it off, and it turned out that he had accidentally let their private health insurance lapse back in February.

They'd send him all these emails saying you need to pay now or we're going to cut you off.

Well, because you need to have the private health in place, I think for a year in order to be able to use its benefits when you were pregnant.

Speaker 2

Also just cut off.

Speaker 1

Because they weren't paying for it, so it's not even like they were paying for a lower level of coverage, like they.

Speaker 2

Had just stopped paying completely.

Speaker 1

And then britt Hockley's like, oh, maybe cut this out if you don't want it going out there.

But hang on, weren't you guys ambassadors for Booper, So it turns out that they were ambassadors.

So I don't know whether through this ambassad a deal they signed them up and then it got to a point in February where they maybe it wasn't contra anymore and that'd just start.

Speaker 2

Paying for it or something.

Speaker 1

I don't necessarily think that you get health insurance as a contra.

I feel like there would be some legalities around it.

I think they're probably just paid by Boopa the b in the ad.

Well, even if that's the case, it's a bit awkward that they're promoting this private health insurance that they don't actually have.

Well, I am very intrigued to hear how they're going.

I hope that Laura does return at some point when she's ready to do an interview, because she said that she's expecting the worst but hoping for the best.

Now that is the wise words of someone who has previously had two other children.

Yeah, what's interesting because she hasn't set a return date on Life on Cut.

She said that, you know, who knows, she might be back in three weeks.

She might be raring to go.

Well, Mattie j is replacing her on the pickup, which was an interesting choice.

I thought maybe it would have been Keisha.

Well, Keisha's feeling in for her on Life on Cut.

I mean, I suppose Mattie Jay is pretty ambitious and he has been on radio before so and he's got his own podcast.

I thought it was a bit odd though, because I thought he might be at home with them, because there's three kids at home back.

Then again, they do have Mattie Jay's mum living with them, so I'm sure there will be a lot of support around.

Almost a year on from Liam Payne's tragic death, his girlfriend Kate Cassidy has generated headlines for sharing a series of AI generated images of the couple.

In the photos, Liam is embracing Kate at a recent event she attended.

In a caption to her nine hundred and fifty six thousand followers, Kate wrote, AI is a blessing and a curse.

She then shared a video of a box filled with letters, postcards, and polaroids from Liam and captioned it tomorrow is not guaranteed.

I think it's really important to point out that Kate Cassidy did not actually create these AI images herself.

They were created by a fan.

Now In response to the AI photos, some one Direction fan said that they felt uneasy seeing the photos, whilst others said that it's unhealthy for her to share them, and the media were very quick to jump on this story, so they reported that Kate was paying tribute to Liam almost a year out from the anniversary of his dea death.

There was a lot of noise around the fact that she had shared these photos.

I mean, I personally didn't think it was a big deal.

I followed Kate, I saw these photos pop up.

I thought that's a nice way for her to feel connected to him.

Speaker 2

I mean, it's all.

Speaker 1

Stemming from the fact that Kate has been receiving a lot of negative attention for the way she has chosen to mourn her boyfriend, which I just don't understand, Like everyone mourns things differently.

She is coping the best that she can.

I personally really enjoy seeing her journey with it because it is quite rare to see someone in the public eye so openly talking about their journey with grief, because often you just see the person at the funeral, you then see them a couple of years later.

They seem to be handling things well.

But she often speaks on her Instagram about how she's dealing with it and the way that she and the ways that she's coping and keeping Liam's memory alive.

She often posts these little signs that she sees from Lim, and as someone who is a big One Direction fan, I feel comforted in seeing them.

Speaker 2

So she always.

Speaker 1

Sees the number four four four, which she says is an angel number, so it shows that Lim is her guardian angel.

She also often sees formations of clouds in the sky that look like his signature tattoos.

And it was quite sweet because last month, for his thirty second birthday, she commemorated it by baking a cake and writing happy birthday, Liam, I know you still have the biggest sweet tooth in heaven.

The thing that is a bit uncomfortable is there are a lot of One Direction fans who don't like her because they blame her for Liam's death, because she did leave Argentina a few days before he died, and I keep saying why weren't you.

Speaker 2

There for him?

Speaker 1

I mean talk about victim blaming the woman's had her boyfriend die tragically.

I mean she's only twenty five as well, which blows my mind and The thing is a lot of people are saying, oh, you're only speaking about Liam to stay relevant.

It's like, no, she's talking about him, because if she pretended like her life just went on, she'd also be accused of just using him.

I mean, this is the difficult thing.

TikTok is a place where people just spread hate anyway, So if she wasn't posting about him and it had moved on and was getting on with her life, she would be trolled for saying how heartless she was and that she didn't really ever care about Liam.

And now because she does share about how she's dealing with the grief, it's that she's a clout chaser, so she couldn't really do anything other than not post online.

But her job is as an influencer.

She has to earn a living, she has to make money.

Liam Payne's son was given the inheritance.

She hasn't got any inheritance, and so it sounded like Liam was quite close to popping the question to her as well.

So, I mean, it's very heartbreaking for her and it'd be very difficult to move on now.

She did hit back at the negative comments surrounding the AI images she posted a video to a one point seven million followers on TikTok.

Let's have a listen to some of what she said.

Speaker 3

I've said it once before, and I'm going to say it again.

Please stop judging the way people grief.

Over the past few days, I've seen so many posts, so many news articles, even kind of in a way, bashing me for finding comfort and peace and seeing photos of me and Liam created with AI.

None of you have ever been in my position, and hopefully you never will be, so please please kindly stop telling me how to grieve and how I should be finding comfort and what I shouldn't be finding comfort.

In grief is so different for everyone.

There's no right or wrong.

Grief is not linear.

So this is the message for anybody out there who is dealing and navigating through grief.

I want you to know that do whatever it teakes for you to get through your d's just that little bit more peaceful.

Speaker 1

Kate went on to say she appreciated the fans who made the AI edits and that she hates seeing them getting criticized too.

She also said she understands that people all over the world are still grieving her boyfriend's passing and it's a testament to the huge impact he had on the world.

I think we forgot to remember that grief doesn't necessarily look the same for everyone.

This is a twenty five year old woman who lost her boyfriend in the most shocking and public circumstances.

I just think if this AI image brings her some comfort and peace, then.

Speaker 2

That's all that matters.

Who are we to judge how.

Speaker 1

She's dealing with this, And she's not the only person who's lost a partner that shares this type of content, Like there is a niche for widows and people who have lost partners to share how they're grieving and going through the process, and then it creates this community where they can connect with other people who have gone through the same thing.

I think my only worry about these images is that perhaps they could be causing her more pain because it is showing how her life could have been because these are photos of her at recent events, and she's probably thinking, Oh God, I just wish Lianne was at this event with me.

Yeah.

There's been a lot of discussions about how AI is being used and can potentially be used in the future to keep people's memories alive.

I find it all a little bit creepy to be honest, Like, I still remember on Neighbors when Margot Robbie was playing Donna and she was married to Ringo.

Remember that, Oh yeah, and he died in a car accident and she kept playing his voicemail back over and over again and listening to it.

Speaker 2

I still feel sad thinking about that.

Speaker 1

And it's just really or unsettling to think about how far AI technology can go to keep people's memories.

Well, it would already be so tough for Kate Cassidy because her boyfriend was in one of the most famous boy bands.

Her algorithm would be on TikTok, would be full of content of him.

There's in so muge of him.

There's so much vision of him around.

Speaker 2

Yeah.

Speaker 1

Well, I think that is all we have time for today.
