Episode Transcript

[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome back to Talking Shit, where we are talking all sorts of shit, shit, freak that is today.

[SPEAKER_01]: We are talking about the penultimate episode of The Series Season 6 episode 13.

[SPEAKER_01]: Start spreading the news.

[SPEAKER_01]: I am just darling, and of course I'm not alone.

[SPEAKER_01]: As always, I am joined.

[SPEAKER_01]: by my co-host, who is secretly a millionaire and is definitely going to hand me an envelope with a check, which I definitely am going to cash and not return, Stuart.

[SPEAKER_01]: Stuart, how are you?

[SPEAKER_02]: I fucking wish.

[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm gonna say, [SPEAKER_02]: If I were sitting on $46 million and I could just casually just like, you know, hand out the envelopes to people like that would love them.

[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.

[SPEAKER_02]: But no, sadly not.

[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry, just the bus that bubble.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not.

[SPEAKER_01]: How much do you think Twilight gave was trying to give?

[SPEAKER_02]: I think you're about to say how much do you want?

[SPEAKER_00]: How much money is in your bank account right now?

[SPEAKER_02]: Like the dresses were like, I like says it all once.

[SPEAKER_02]: So they must have been like, I'm guessing design must have been worth a fair bit anyway.

[SPEAKER_02]: Plus it was more on top of that.

[SPEAKER_02]: So like, I don't know, maybe, I don't know, like 50,000 to something like that's way more than I thought.

[SPEAKER_01]: I imagine it like 5 or 10.

[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, either way, I mean, both are substantial amounts of money.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just thinking what would the designer and this of the mole?

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know what candidates are, like, obviously, but I will say in, like, the states.

[SPEAKER_01]: There's like there's a certain number is like 15 grand or there's some there's some magic number where you can gift it to somebody without paying taxes on it so like a lot of times is someone is like giving someone a substantial amount of money will give it and like that quantity I want to say it's like 15 grand, but I don't know.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think, I think we have some of the rules.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's kind of like, I don't know where they drift into like inheritance or whatever like that.

[SPEAKER_02]: I know that there's this rule with inheritance, he stuff that you give that providing your diet within the next seven years, then it's tax-free or something, because there's like, those people that are offloading wealth to their kids and then like doing it early.

[SPEAKER_02]: So I could really enjoy it kind of thing.

[SPEAKER_02]: Meanwhile, I'm looking at my parents.

[SPEAKER_02]: So, okay.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_02]: No.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_01]: Well, there's a lot going on this episode.

[SPEAKER_01]: It is.

[SPEAKER_01]: What did you think about it?

[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I feel like you, it was going to be a tear-jerker regardless because we are like getting so close to the end.

[SPEAKER_01]: But I do think there are a few moments that could get someone this episode.

[SPEAKER_02]: a few like this this one that I think is that I watched it immediately after recorded last week and I sobbed and then said to myself okay putting that away and I'm not thinking about it for a whole week because then I can process it I can come back to it rewatch it just before we record now and I'll be fine so yeah watch it about an arrow guy [SPEAKER_02]: and I'm so thankful that I left a good half now break between finishing it and did this.

[SPEAKER_02]: So that I wasn't an absolute puffy mess because I sobbed all over again.

[SPEAKER_02]: This one got me so much and it might be because I've got a similar thing at the moment with a friend moving away that I'm very sad about that is like hitting me but like the Dave and Stevie a bit all the [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's applicable to me, but it's also navigated so, so beautifully, in such a nice way that doesn't [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, sad for what it is, but it's also really empowering for them.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I really like the way in which they've done that.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, I'm really high on the subsides.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, yeah.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's a great one.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's obviously a great one because they are setting things up for the finale, which is next week.

[SPEAKER_01]: And they have a lot of loose ends that kind of have to tie up before they can do the big finale.

[SPEAKER_01]: So there's lots of good into.

[SPEAKER_01]: Let's recap the episode before [SPEAKER_01]: Stevie accidentally lets it slip to David that Patrick was trying to buy David house and shits Creek.

[SPEAKER_01]: And after a heart to heart, where Stevie questions, why David wants to return to New York City at all, David decides he doesn't want to be somewhere Patrick doesn't want to be.

[SPEAKER_01]: And they put in and offer on the Kate Winslet from the holiday, look alike, house.

[SPEAKER_01]: So cute.

[SPEAKER_01]: Stevie is also staying in Chitt's Creek with Roland to help set up the new motels, so at least he will have a friend nearby because of the rest of his family is off.

[SPEAKER_01]: Alexis prepares for her new life in New York by offloading some old clothes to Twyla, who lets it slip that she actually won the lottery years ago, and won $46 million.

[SPEAKER_01]: And she just does the job at the cafe to make her smile, which like, girl, girl.

[SPEAKER_01]: whatever floats your boat to Iowa.

[SPEAKER_01]: When Twilight tries to give Alexis some money to jump start her new life in New York City, Alexis abode lead declines, wanted to do it on her own.

[SPEAKER_01]: And she will be doing it completely alone.

[SPEAKER_01]: As Moira gets that diamond tennis bracelet from Tippie and an even bigger offer to appear on the sunrise bay reboot.

[SPEAKER_01]: She accepts and that means her and Johnny will be off to California where we will help [SPEAKER_01]: My rep has an adorable goodbye to the jazz gals and we're all like Ronnie with something stuck in our eyes because the show is almost over Stuart.

[SPEAKER_02]: I even run a ride, run a ride.

[SPEAKER_02]: This is ridiculous.

[SPEAKER_00]: I love my we're going through on a car.

[SPEAKER_03]: That was so sweet.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, where do you where do you want to start?

[SPEAKER_01]: There's so much to get through.

[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I want to do this start because I feel like they're the Patrick that I mean being the ending is what we should get on to towards the end.

[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe the whole just seen [SPEAKER_02]: the good boys of like Moira and everything, maybe that.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, stop that.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, the Moira goodbye to the jazz girls right where they are trying to be like, oh, screw sunrise Bay, you don't need them because Moira gets here's the rumor from Jocelyn about like, oh, they're moving forward with the reboot and Moira is trying to put her best foot, so we're put on a brief face and pretend like it's not affecting her.

[SPEAKER_01]: Ultimately, she lands the gig and it's incredible, like the fact that she went so high on what her demands were knowing they would reject her, then for them to be like, okay, you're worth it.

[SPEAKER_01]: Let's do it.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's like astonishing and I love her goodbye to the jazz girls.

[SPEAKER_01]: I love that they all have these like, I love New York shirt font, like support her, it's so cute and then the hug.

[SPEAKER_01]: The hug, Stuart, I feel like it is such a great example of Moira's journey in Moira's growth that like she initially like rejects the group hug and she's like, no, no, no, and then she's like, okay, just one and they all just come in for a big it's so sweet.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's so cute.

[SPEAKER_01]: I loved it.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's adorable.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think the whole way in which, obviously, they had been addressing up for Moira and like giving her a good bite, right?

[SPEAKER_02]: They didn't get her a cake considering she messed up.

[SPEAKER_02]: It was a great piece.

[SPEAKER_02]: The one that found left at the other episode.

[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, I think that this was just supremely sweet.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I think it was all had a moment where people put their foot in it and had to take back what they've said when they badmouth something to support you, only to really like not really mean it and have to like think about the reboot that was so funny, just seemed like how clever, just the complete [SPEAKER_02]: it does like a reboot anyway, it's rubbish.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it was adorable.

[SPEAKER_02]: All I have question though is, so Jocelyn kind of breaks the news to Moira about the reboot, but then Moira then gets the offer.

[SPEAKER_02]: So like Tippy was holding back and obviously from doing that, but are they [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, does that mean Jocelyn is really tapped into like, you know, media press release?

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, my assumption is that it's one of those things where there was like talks of the sunrise bay reboot and maybe nothing was actually confirmed yet, but Jocelyn feels like someone who's in like a bunch of mom groups and like just a little bit of a hot goss from those.

[SPEAKER_01]: And so she [SPEAKER_01]: Or I mean, it could be that they were going to go along with the reboot no matter what and that it was just a matter of, well, if we can't get Moira will move forward with whatever the other guy's name is who I'm forgetting right now.

[SPEAKER_01]: Well no, she was going to get ditched.

[SPEAKER_01]: That was in her contract.

[SPEAKER_01]: Was that she wanted him not there.

[SPEAKER_01]: And that that was part of the episode where she says like Tippy said, they want me more than they, they like, you know, my name will bring more to it in his heart.

[SPEAKER_02]: I love the fact that that's the case.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like, because the whole [SPEAKER_02]: point that some might be reboot is that it hinges on the fact that Moiris had this like big up taking terms of presence when it comes to the media, what would the crow sacrifice?

[SPEAKER_02]: wife.

[SPEAKER_02]: Why am I the girl?

[SPEAKER_02]: Three, that was it.

[SPEAKER_02]: Um, so like with that, if it was a form where they wouldn't even be having this conversation.

[SPEAKER_02]: So she should be the linchpin of these negotiations when it comes to network.

[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, get your diamond tennis bracelet girl.

[SPEAKER_02]: Um, the way in which she tells the family, though, was hilarious with Alexis, like getting [SPEAKER_01]: It's like, no, no, no, it's really good and I'm like, I love, I love Johnny's reaction to where he's like so excited for he's like, oh, this is going to like really like change things like this is going to be very difficult and they're like, well, we'll just have to be by coast or like we're power couple, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: Like, [SPEAKER_01]: it's, you know, a tricky commute is what he calls it.

[SPEAKER_01]: I adore that Johnny ultimately ends up that, you know, he's going to be in California with my rest supporting her while still working on his business.

[SPEAKER_01]: I love that for them.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think no matter what we would see this couple make it work obviously.

[SPEAKER_01]: But like I adore that he is able to be like I've made calls and now I'm going to be like setting up shop on the west coast until your mother's like done with this because let's face it if they're only doing like 12 or 13 episodes in this reboot it's not forever it's temporary it's a few months, you know, and then she'll be then they could go wherever they could go to New York they could, you know, seemingly move forever.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, exactly.

[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, the whole point of like, Johnny's setting up of everything is that, I mean, they're gonna be expanding out into different locations.

[SPEAKER_02]: So when they start East Coast, the West Coast, it really doesn't matter that much.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like I said, it's completely short period of time.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's like what, 13 episodes didn't they got green there?

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's not that much.

[SPEAKER_02]: Of course it'll get multi episodes, right?

[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, this is the best.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, obviously, we will be looking at like six seasons in a movie.

[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, it's going to be successful, obviously.

[SPEAKER_02]: Are we thinking it's going to be like this reboot?

[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be like the pit compared to ER, like slightly a bit gritier, maybe a bit more like, kind of realistic and not, you know, soapy and kind of like [SPEAKER_01]: Probably, but ultimately, Moira is still on it, so like you're gonna have some sort of campiness with her involved, yeah.

[SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah.

[SPEAKER_02]: But like, is still gonna be the same character, or are they gonna like just change the name and then just when it comes to the legality of it, be like, no, it's definitely a different universe, guys.

[SPEAKER_02]: You can't see us.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think they have because they're really so deep.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think they did it to the soapy trope of like how are they bringing her back to life because she died.

[SPEAKER_01]: Like right, she drowned.

[SPEAKER_01]: She threw up a demon and then like drowned in the toilet or something.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, what is so well you have rights is right.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, exactly lean on them.

[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah.

[SPEAKER_01]: I love this for Moira, I love it for Johnny, they're off to the West Coast.

[SPEAKER_01]: And they have to break the news to Alexis because she starts the day thinking, her entire family is moving to New York with her, she thinks me and David and Patrick are sharing an apartment.

[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm gonna offload some of these clothes to Twyla.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think also she just really values Twyla's friendship.

[SPEAKER_01]: So I think she kind of, this feels like in a very Alexis way to give someone a gift as well.

[SPEAKER_01]: a seemingly also while like taking some of it back while she's, well, she's at the diner.

[SPEAKER_01]: But I love this.

[SPEAKER_01]: I love the little conversation they have.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I love Alexis being the one to impart some wisdom in terms of it's nice to have money and maybe money can't buy you happiness, but it can buy you things that will make you smile occasionally.

[SPEAKER_01]: So like don't just hoard the money, like get yourself something that you'll enjoy.

[SPEAKER_01]: I love this conversation and it's so, so sweet.

[SPEAKER_02]: It really is.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I, I just, the way in which Alex just brings that kind of like wisdom and it's not just like treat yourself kind of thing.

[SPEAKER_02]: It is, it's a bit deeper than that.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's just that you can bring yourself the odd little like kind of treat that's going to meet you smile.

[SPEAKER_02]: there is almost this way in which Twitter hasn't told anyone.

[SPEAKER_02]: I imagine a lot of it comes down to the secrecy of the whole situation, right?

[SPEAKER_02]: But I think it also comes down to, well, here's a family who has lost everything.

[SPEAKER_02]: Money clearly doesn't buy you happiness based on all of them.

[SPEAKER_02]: So like, [SPEAKER_02]: Maybe it's more of a curse than it's a blessing.

[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you do find that with lottery when it's quite often, it's that their lives get ruined by it.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_02]: So I mean, she's seen how mothers reacted by all the snowmobiles it seems.

[SPEAKER_00]: say that the other thing like a thing to have multiple of like more than two like snowmobiles why?

[SPEAKER_01]: Why do you need a ton of snowmobiles?

[SPEAKER_01]: What reads?

[SPEAKER_01]: I mean at least they live in Canada.

[SPEAKER_01]: It'd be even more ridiculous if it was like you know I live in Texas and I own 10 snowmobiles.

[SPEAKER_01]: We joke that Twilight, you know, Twilight at times seems to like lack a little common sense.

[SPEAKER_01]: She's a little bit like off at times, but the smartest thing Twilight ever did was tell no one.

[SPEAKER_01]: That she was a lottery.

[SPEAKER_01]: Like to be able to keep that a secret and the fact that she goes, well, now that you're leaving, like let me tell you something.

[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, damn, Twilight, look at you.

[SPEAKER_02]: still intending to keep it a secret by that furniture, which I really look on a light dig as well.

[SPEAKER_02]: Because she's happy, why does she want to rock the boat?

[SPEAKER_02]: Like, she's got the traffic down, she's got the cafe, which she does seem to enjoy to the place.

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you absolutely do.

[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I didn't rename it Twilight's cafe coming down.

[SPEAKER_02]: No, twice cafe.

[SPEAKER_02]: No, twice cafe tropical.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, I'm picturing her just putting like keep the sign for cafe tropical and just add twilight's like above it in a different font the cheapest like inkjet print your own stickers of just her name Yes, laughed on the menu.

[SPEAKER_02]: I feel the top left of that logo [SPEAKER_02]: um, supremely tacky.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I love it because I ain't quite as just that kind of like she'll just get on with stuff.

[SPEAKER_02]: She doesn't need the fancy things, but yeah, I love the fact that this is the total tap.

[SPEAKER_02]: You'll treat to buy some things I'm going to bring us some joy.

[SPEAKER_02]: F in deserves it.

[SPEAKER_02]: Point has been throughout this entire series for Alexis mostly, but like for another like the family, I mean she's been there to serve them.

[SPEAKER_02]: She's done with Johnny's BS where when she had a like broken ankle like.

[SPEAKER_02]: she's had to put up with a lot of that crap.

[SPEAKER_02]: So like she doesn't have a tree.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know.

[SPEAKER_01]: And my head can and also we know now that like Johnny was terrible at like paying his tab, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: Like she had to like hound him to get him to pay.

[SPEAKER_01]: She makes a joke this episode about the fact of like Alexis occasionally will like forget to pay her tab.

[SPEAKER_01]: In my head, Canon, times that that has happened, Twilight has just like taken care of it with her winnings.

[SPEAKER_01]: Like, she is just like paid for it.

[SPEAKER_01]: I just, Twilight just feels like a very charitable person and that G, isn't looking to like be frivolous with her money or gloat about, you know, be braggadocious about the amount of money that she has, but that like little things here and there shall take care of silently to help people, especially people that she cares about.

[SPEAKER_01]: and it makes perfect sense for her than want to own the cafe and still work there because she enjoys it.

[SPEAKER_01]: Like, she enjoys the work.

[SPEAKER_01]: So why wouldn't she want to do that?

[SPEAKER_01]: I love Twilight's entire mentality on all of this and I love that Alexis refuses the money.

[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it is [SPEAKER_01]: Imagine us, like you would never guess Alexis would do something like that in the very first episode of the show.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's just such a huge statement on how her mentality surrounding money has changed.

[SPEAKER_01]: And she just wants to do this on her own.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I love that she says, but if you want to use it to like, come visit me like if you want to buy a plane ticket.

[SPEAKER_01]: That's so sweet.

[SPEAKER_01]: Like the fact I think Alexis is going to need someone like that like someone to be a rock for her beyond her family, obviously.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think she needs someone that can ground her in moments especially with her moving to New York City.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like toilet telling Alexis about the money was like a final test.

[SPEAKER_02]: Just how much has she its creaked changed Alexis?

[SPEAKER_02]: How much has she learned from it all?

[SPEAKER_02]: And I think the test was, okay, I'm going to tell you about this, how is she going to react?

[SPEAKER_02]: She's going to be angry because really like a solution that all her problems was here the whole time.

[SPEAKER_02]: um like toilet could have like given them a loan and they could have made the money back because all their connections in all the ways which they could have like gone out of it.

[SPEAKER_02]: So like there's that thing.

[SPEAKER_02]: Does Alexis ask for money like is another thing like that would be horrible if that had happened but it's a possibility and she doesn't do either of those things.

[SPEAKER_02]: She reacts so positively and encourages her to spend her money on [SPEAKER_02]: passing the test with flying colors and then to get extra credit, she then turns the money down at the end.

[SPEAKER_02]: It was so perfect and a fantastic way to show how much growth that Alexis has gone through.

[SPEAKER_02]: This isn't just in the sense of rejecting the money because [SPEAKER_02]: of like learning that money isn't everything.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's the gross, it's almost like seeing Alexis's confidence of just like, no, like I'll make this work on my own merit.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like she wants to feel like she's earned it, just like she did she with her education, just like she's done with her little business that she started up, like she's doing everything off her own back.

[SPEAKER_02]: So just because there's an easy option now, doesn't mean she's always going to take that easy option, [SPEAKER_02]: I'm so remarkable and I'd like to like the fact that it's still a portrait with humour in like just acknowledging that she will regret it immediately but still choosing the bad thing and then disolding onto the envelope and the pair of them joking about it like it was just so so so so so good.

[SPEAKER_01]: Especially because not only does she turn down the money, but when she finds out that her parents and David are not going to Newark with her that David will be staying in shit's Creek which we'll talk about and that her parents are going to be in California.

[SPEAKER_01]: It would be so easy for her to say like when her dad says oh so I guess you'll be coming with us Alexis to California it would be so easy for her to say yeah of course and also like again pointing out that [SPEAKER_01]: It's not like her parents are moving to like Minnesota like or somewhere, you know, like they're moving to presumably Los Angeles, which is another massive city, she could easily get that sort of work in that city like New York and LA in terms of job opportunity for the field that Alexis is in.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, similar, but, you know, she says the like PR and like marketing for, well, at least like populations for an act for us that's been doing for our mother, like it transfers so well to that place.

[SPEAKER_01]: And she also has the safety net of Moira being there, too, so she could theoretically.

[SPEAKER_01]: you know, have connections there, networking, whatever.

[SPEAKER_01]: The fact that she still turns it down to do, to forge her own path to like, you know, find her own way in New York is so remarkably admirable.

[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it's, she's just showing her independence.

[SPEAKER_01]: And she's always had a little bit of an independent streak, like we've heard the stories of like the travels that she had.

[SPEAKER_01]: But she always had the safety net of money and connections to back her up.

[SPEAKER_01]: And she doesn't have that now.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's very much think her swim on her all on her own back.

[SPEAKER_01]: And the fact that she is still wanting to go to New York alone is so admirable.

[SPEAKER_01]: Like she really is like, you know, she'll have it all.

[SPEAKER_01]: And Moira congratulating her.

[SPEAKER_01]: Like, Moira is the person who didn't have Alexis's cell phone number.

[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, like, the fact that she's just like you take that ember of independence and you keep it burning because you my darling are destined to be on fire.

[SPEAKER_01]: Like, come on, you know, it's so perfect.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's so good.

[SPEAKER_02]: Moira had some really kind of great lines in this episode.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like I felt like she was really kind of like underlining some really pointed moments with great poetry or was like, what's it she says to the Jessica, um, you've helped me find the beauty in the big collet, which is just like, [SPEAKER_02]: I did have to look up, you call it, not gonna lie.

[SPEAKER_02]: Of course you did, because I wanted to know whether it was actually a backhand, it's caught compliment kind of thing, but no, because it's just like country life and it's so true because she has found the beauty that we call it.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it did take her to get to the point where they have to leave her to the, you know, smile will laugh and they're in need.

[SPEAKER_02]: But it's true and the way in which she kind of like underpins out with Alexis's thing and like kind of really kind of marking it and like saying that she's going to be on fire.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's absolutely true.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think they have the out like the utmost faith in Alexis in doing this or on her own and I love the fact that she's chosen to do it in such an independent way.

[SPEAKER_02]: However, I will just say I have a slight head cannon.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's also an aspect of it.

[SPEAKER_02]: Well, because we've established like, it's quick is Eastern Canada, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[SPEAKER_02]: local, it's local to like the toilet of is it?

[SPEAKER_02]: Local for her to go back and see David and Pat tricks, TV and everyone.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think there is a slight aspect of that, and I feel like...

That's true, it is a very, like a shorter plane ride to Toronto, wherever it's close to.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's true.

[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, not entirely, not entirely coming in the pen, but I kind of like that because it's like independent enough, but still I think there's still those like strong roots to people that she loves, which is she's still going to maintain and I feel that this is going to be like we never see or hear from Alexis ever again.

[SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[SPEAKER_01]: She's not going to be going to New York with David because he is staying in Shits Creek.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I love how he comes to this decision where he has a conversation with Stevie.

[SPEAKER_01]: She tells him right out the gate like, I'm not moving to New York.

[SPEAKER_01]: Like, what are you talking about?

[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I'm staying here with Roland.

[SPEAKER_01]: Like, we're setting up the branches here.

[SPEAKER_01]: And she lets it slip the Patrick in the house situation.

[SPEAKER_01]: I also have a feeling that this was a very intentional slip because when Patrick, when David in Patrick talk later in the episode and Patrick says he was going to keep it from David until after the wedding because David gets overwhelmed.

[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like Stevie would have known that and I think this is Stevie just not I don't want to say I'm an impulation, but more so like giving David some information that would may sway him in a different direction and I can see that as well yeah like especially when when they do have the conversation sitting in front of this adorable cottage like [SPEAKER_01]: I think to see a house that could be yours, you know, that could really, that could be real and yours and you could live here and to know that the person that you care most about.

[SPEAKER_01]: when out of their way to try to get you this house, I think like makes it, it's that much harder to turn it down.

[SPEAKER_01]: Especially because I love Stevie being like, why do you wanna go back there?

[SPEAKER_01]: Like, what is in New York, that you so badly wanna return to?

[SPEAKER_01]: Cause the friends that you invited from there?

[SPEAKER_01]: They're not coming.

[SPEAKER_01]: They're not coming to your wedding.

[SPEAKER_01]: Does that not prove to you that they are not actually your friends?

[SPEAKER_01]: I love this.

[SPEAKER_01]: I love that it is Stevie and David having this conversation.

[SPEAKER_01]: That is kind of what gets David to turn his mind around because I think [SPEAKER_01]: We could have seen it be Patrick and David, where Patrick says, I don't want to go, please don't make me move there.

[SPEAKER_01]: But I like that it doesn't happen that way.

[SPEAKER_01]: Because Patrick is willing to go there.

[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't want to, but he would for David.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I like that.

[SPEAKER_01]: That's not the reason that David kind of ultimately decides not to go.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, because I feel like Stevie is doing this really fulfilling the role of being like best person at this wedding and like kind of being just a great friend is just taking a bit of a bullet there of awkwardness, whether it be like kind of just gently nudging towards the direction kind of thing of probably having a suspect feeling, so just like I don't think [SPEAKER_02]: be the one.

[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm going to kind of expose them to some information that it's going to find out anyway.

[SPEAKER_02]: I can do it by mistake and just prompt that reaction a little quicker because the timing is going to be better because it's not going to go too far down the line.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I totally subscribe to that kind of headstand that's TV is putting a couple of strings here and they're like kind of doing that.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I think doing so in such a virtual way because like [SPEAKER_02]: had Stevie Nought, I think this could have been one of those situations that [SPEAKER_02]: Boyls over and gets to a breaking point and then becomes a bit difficult to navigate whereas now it's like, you're making the decision at the point in which you can make a decision.

[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, it's tough, but it doesn't, I mean, it kind of goes against a couple of people's expectations, but as we've seen in the episode, that's happening left and right, what with my rest changing plans, what with, [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, even like David finding out that Stevie isn't necessarily leaving, like that, a lot of these things change as a lot of people's perceptions.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I think all of that combines just forces people to kind of reconcile what it is they truly want, because I think a lot of it is David's [SPEAKER_02]: thinking that, well, everyone's leaving, so we must do the same kind of thing.

[SPEAKER_02]: We have to we can't be left behind.

[SPEAKER_02]: And so yeah, I think that is a great way of doing it.

[SPEAKER_02]: I was really worried what it did happen.

[SPEAKER_02]: But that was also a little, I don't know.

[SPEAKER_02]: I kind of wish there was a little [SPEAKER_02]: fixed without it being a bad thing, because I think it had Patrick been involved.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think it would be that awkward conversation you mentioned.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think that's where I land too.

[SPEAKER_01]: Like, of course, I always want my Patrick, but I like that it's more like passive or it's more that we find out that Patrick has done something so lovely in wanting to buy this house for him in David behind the scenes and that when they do ultimately have the conversation between David and Patrick that [SPEAKER_01]: Patrick doesn't want to live in New York City, but he understands why David does and he understands like good for the business, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: Like, he does understand it.

[SPEAKER_01]: I like that he points out it's just hard to want to live in a place you've never even visited.

[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know, it's really hard to even picture your life there.

[SPEAKER_01]: It is so vastly different from shit's Creek that it would be it's difficult to imagine his life there.

[SPEAKER_01]: And [SPEAKER_01]: You know, it takes TV saying David, you have nothing to prove to anyone, like, and if even if you did want to prove it to those old friends of yours, number one, they're not your friends, number two, you've won.

[SPEAKER_01]: Look at this house.

[SPEAKER_01]: Look at your soon-to-be husband.

[SPEAKER_01]: Look at the relationships you've built with your family.

[SPEAKER_01]: like you have one, you don't have to prove anything to those people.

[SPEAKER_01]: Why are you trying to blow that up just to prove something to someone when realistically it's just kind of cause a strain, both on the business, on your relationship, like all of those things and [SPEAKER_01]: I'm usually not one for the move Patrick makes here where he buys a or he's at least attempting to buy a house without really having a discussion with his partner that is a bold and dangerous move in my opinion I guess it helps that he didn't actually go necessarily go through with it right like he just went up to them and was like hey if you ever want to sell like let me know, maybe he would have eventually.

[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like it was pushing too much like it kind of found out all the parameters and didn't go ahead and like, yeah, yeah, I think I should put paint like pen to paper, I think now they've been like, oh, [SPEAKER_01]: That's because that's like a, it happens in the office like Jim does that for Pam with his old his parents old house and like that always was like this is a step you've already bought the thing like you're really taking a risk here on the person liking it and like a.

That's right.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, seriously, um, but yeah, the fact that Patrick doesn't actually like you like you said Rassignity contracts or anything like that.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think it all ultimately works out.

[SPEAKER_01]: I love the way David Tells Patrick that he does want to stay is by blindfolding him and bringing him to the house.

[SPEAKER_01]: I love this whole thing and I think [SPEAKER_01]: David and Patrick need something more key, like low key.

[SPEAKER_01]: Like, and I think the thing is, if Alexis is going to live in the city, go visit, like you have a reason to go to New York City now, and it's to visit your sister.

[SPEAKER_01]: And like, if you eventually do want to set up a branch or franchise or whatever and set something up in New York, you can, but it doesn't mean you need to uproot your entire life.

[SPEAKER_01]: to follow someone else because that's what you would be doing instead of establishing something of your own.

[SPEAKER_01]: And while I think Patrick would move to New York City, if push came to shove, I don't think you would be happy there.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that would really cause a strain.

[SPEAKER_01]: So I was just...

[SPEAKER_01]: I was very happy to see David turn this down and for the reason he turns it down to, it's his own decision, but it's pushed along by Stevie rather than Patrick, which I just think is like a very interesting swirv and where I think most shows it would have been Patrick.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, and it would have been so much mess here.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm glad of it not being messy.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like I said, the only reason I kind of wish that Patrick was a little bit more involved is because I don't know if I felt like a initially Patrick felt a very passive in the whole situation.

[SPEAKER_02]: But I think it is a great way of showing that Patrick really does just love David and will [SPEAKER_02]: in just something that he's not sure about.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that's a good grade.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like Patrick's not certainly against going to New York.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's just an unknown.

[SPEAKER_02]: I like I know we've been there.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like I don't know if I want to live there.

[SPEAKER_02]: But we'd do it for David.

[SPEAKER_02]: And so that was very sweet.

[SPEAKER_02]: But just felt very passive for me.

[SPEAKER_02]: So I was just like, this is Patrick.

[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he'd like he goes out and knocks on people's doors and asks them to sell their home if they were like, like, that's [SPEAKER_02]: But the way in which, oh, I mean, the gesture of it, it's like because David has expressed interest in the place so much and like to go out and actually do that, it's so incredibly sweet.

[SPEAKER_02]: And the way in which Stevie acknowledges when David is like, who does that?

[SPEAKER_02]: It's [SPEAKER_02]: never related more to Stephen my life because it's like sometimes I am just in a war of people that do really thank one of thankless like he's gonna get thanked for it but like you know really sweet gestures like that like [SPEAKER_02]: People, sometimes people can be really lovely with things.

[SPEAKER_02]: And that kind of forms your heart a little bit.

[SPEAKER_02]: And Patrick's one of those people that just does it, I think, out of his nature, it's just his nature to be a very sweet, giving and loving person.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, which one of you explains why he's attracted to someone late David, because opposites are attracted.

[SPEAKER_02]: So maybe it doesn't matter.

[SPEAKER_01]: And really, as the David can really, yeah.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but yeah, I just that whole acknowledgement was just adorable as well.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I love the fact that it isn't again, like we took my lesser shows.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think in other shows there would be like a weird hostile dynamic between Stevie and Patrick over claim of David and we've never had that we've always had this almost like Stevie championing.

[SPEAKER_02]: to them because Steve wants David's happiness and also I think Steve just like Patrick like on shocking like yeah which is always a great thing to have like I never come away from any of these relationships in the show and be like oh that's a bit I don't like that vibe but uh very rarely I mean like when it's lost I'm mutt related like that's a long time ago now [SPEAKER_02]: It's just so supremely sweet, and yeah, I have Dan, let me just, you see the tears swelling the whole way through.

[SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't single tear at one point.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like, like, cough, like, it's outrageous.

[SPEAKER_01]: I love like the idea that you watched this episode twice in both times.

[SPEAKER_01]: You ended up like sobbing about it.

[SPEAKER_01]: The finale is gonna hurt your feelings.

[SPEAKER_01]: And then the finale is gonna wreck you.

[SPEAKER_00]: You won't be able to recover.

[SPEAKER_00]: You're gonna have to give yourself even more.

[SPEAKER_00]: Time.

[SPEAKER_02]: Well, this is the thing.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, do I want it immediately?

[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I've already done it.

[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to.

[SPEAKER_02]: Some people stay.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like, yes, the thing is we record this.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's like hand watch at it.

[SPEAKER_02]: do I do the crazy thing and watch it just immediately before we record the next episode and just turn up to here.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think you should.

[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think I should.

[SPEAKER_00]: It would be funny.

[SPEAKER_00]: You'd be unwell.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is like, what was I, what was I watching?

[SPEAKER_00]: I can't remember what I watched.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, I am unwell.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't even think I was messaging you.

[SPEAKER_00]: Was a shit script.

[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.

[SPEAKER_02]: I was thinking of a particular episode of succession.

[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe when you were like, almost like, [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that episode did wreck me, but I think it was something more recent.

[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, I think you got to watch this one in the media after, but anyway, that's for next week's discussions.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think you're ready to get into some feedback for this week's.

[SPEAKER_02]: So I think I'll do yeah.

[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so we got an email from Kim.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so glad we made it to this episode.

[SPEAKER_01]: These last two are top favorites of mine for the entire series.

[SPEAKER_01]: I love that they have David find out about the house from Stevie because it shows how Patrick was just going to let it go and move to New York to make David happy.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I like that after realizing he doesn't want to leave Stevie and he has nothing to prove to his New York friends.

[SPEAKER_01]: David is the one to put the offer down and surprise Patrick.

[SPEAKER_01]: Alexis shows major character growth by turning down twilight's money, huge step for her, and sunrise Bay is happening for Moira.

[SPEAKER_01]: I love the moment she has with the jazegales for she lets them know how much the group has meant to her.

[SPEAKER_01]: This episode has so much goodness, and I bet you will struggle finding a disgruntled pelican on this one.

[SPEAKER_01]: I can't wait for [SPEAKER_02]: Reading.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's absolutely good for that.

[SPEAKER_02]: I do want to say the pointing out of like the New York friends as well.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like that bit with they really acknowledge it and you see how raw that trauma of just, you know, that friends who aren't friends or like just horrible people and just seeing that still affect David and [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, come out with that conversation with Stevie, and then to still be a shit back to Stevie and ask about what the other is.

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god, he's like maybe it's the farm, and she's like, I'm dead.

[SPEAKER_00]: So good.

[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, it was, it was, it was, it's a great episode.

[SPEAKER_02]: The whole disgruntled pelican though.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's better than until now.

[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the other one is to how, how are we giving it a simply the best also?

[SPEAKER_01]: Like, like, both of them are going to be difficult because some of the best there's too many options.

[SPEAKER_01]: And disgruntled pelican.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, two, two really sucks.

[SPEAKER_01]: Is there someone who says we'll talk about it?

[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.

[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.

[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about our email from Olivia.

[SPEAKER_01]: Hi, my name's Olivia, and I've been binging your podcasts for the past few months.

[SPEAKER_01]: Even though I'm binging I'm only half way through your season five commentaries, but I noticed that your podcast is sadly about to come to an end, so I had to send it an email.

[SPEAKER_01]: My gosh, Olivia, we'll hope you're listening to this in the future.

[SPEAKER_01]: First of all, I've absolutely loved listening to you talk about one of my favorite shows of all time.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's been a treat to hear people have similar or different opinions [SPEAKER_01]: I've watched the show upwards of 10 times consecutively and it's not get, that's a lot.

[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I wonder if it's a bedtime show because I feel like I call things a bedtime show.

[SPEAKER_01]: Like when you're going to bed and you want to put on something that you know, isn't going to give you nightmares, it's going to like little you and to sleep that you kind of already know by heart.

[SPEAKER_01]: So it's like, you know, it's just on the background.

[SPEAKER_02]: You just drift off and have dreams of Bob jokes and Patrick and blue shirts, you know?

[SPEAKER_01]: Um, exactly.

[SPEAKER_01]: Um, it has topped your jokes, punchlines, and running gags all while being so full of heart and keeping a clear direction throughout its six season run.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm an avid sitcom watcher and shitsqueak has some of the best character rating I've ever seen in a comedy show.

[SPEAKER_01]: When I'm finished with this podcast, I'll be hopping over to Jess's community episode on pilot season, uh, one of my other favorite shows.

[SPEAKER_01]: If you two decide to tackle another comedy after you tackle the cones, of course.

[SPEAKER_01]: I know Barton Rack is high on the list, but I personally recommend the good place.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's an even quicker watch than shit's Creek and my favorite show of all time, even above our beloved shit's Creek, far to compare the two because they're so phenomenal in their own right, but the good place takes the cake for me.

[SPEAKER_01]: Stuart, have you seen the good place?

[SPEAKER_02]: I have shout out to a show like the good place that stopped the landing.

[SPEAKER_01]: You went to end it.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they knew when they come to a close.

[SPEAKER_02]: You went to end it and also had one of like, I know it's the best endings.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_02]: So, so great.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the good place feels like a show where it's like, is there a single person who does not know the end of season one twist?

[SPEAKER_01]: Like, is there a single person out there who actually is somehow unspoiled by that [SPEAKER_02]: It was great.

[SPEAKER_02]: There's a video of them being like, I think it's on E.

Cheedy and it's almost got the guy's name.

[SPEAKER_02]: The one at Tarny Marries.

[SPEAKER_02]: Jason, yes.

[SPEAKER_02]: And they're being told about the twist.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.

[SPEAKER_02]: So so good, yeah.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's so funny.

[SPEAKER_01]: It is one of the better sitcoms in terms of, in my opinion, of weaving comedy and drama.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think like it really, it excels at that.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, truly amazing job on the podcast.

[SPEAKER_01]: You two in your guests have brought me so much levity.

[SPEAKER_01]: I almost read that as levy.

[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, but what I really needed it, best wishes and warmer, it's more of a regards Olivia.

[SPEAKER_01]: Well, Olivia, in the future, we hope you've enjoyed the rest of the ride, and I don't know how long it'll be until you get to this place, but we'll definitely have an announcement on what we're doing next.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm so happy you also love community, because Josh regular and I covered it all on community building.

[SPEAKER_01]: If you want to listen to that, I don't know if you have.

[SPEAKER_01]: But if you haven't, go listen to that because he had never seen community.

[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, and that was a really, really fun time for me because I adore the show community.

[SPEAKER_01]: Um, so yeah, go check that out as well.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_02]: Definitely.

[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my gosh.

[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.

[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get into the tough stuff.

[SPEAKER_01]: We have some ratings.

[SPEAKER_01]: We have to do and I do.

[SPEAKER_01]: I truly don't know how we're going to do it.

[SPEAKER_02]: Have to do.

[SPEAKER_02]: Do.

[SPEAKER_02]: Have to do this.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's our podcast.

[SPEAKER_01]: What was this?

[SPEAKER_01]: It's our podcast.

[SPEAKER_02]: We have to run people.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's reductive jazz.

[SPEAKER_02]: Why do we have to do this?

[SPEAKER_01]: I don't even know how to do this because like when it comes to the simply the best I honestly could give you arguments for so many people like like I mean Stevie for for telling having the conversations with David and like making and see the light of like New York City David for coming around on the whole thing and staying in Chitts Creek, Patrick for the whole house thing like Moira for getting this like dream job and knowing her worth [SPEAKER_01]: You know, Johnny for making this sacrifice to go to the West Coast and set up shop there rather than New York City Alexis for being just like bold and adventurous and independent and a toilet for winning a butt load of money and not telling a single soul like there are so many people you could give it to that I am truly at a loss, it.

[SPEAKER_01]: It feels like a slight to not give it.

[SPEAKER_01]: You don't even need to give it to one and then knock it into someone else.

[SPEAKER_01]: It just feels like it.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what to do.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what to do.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's so hard.

[SPEAKER_02]: Can we?

[SPEAKER_02]: If we give out multiples, I think it reduces the whole like being top winning points kind of thing.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_02]: So bold idea here.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I haven't pitched this to you before.

[SPEAKER_02]: So like, focus on this live on the world.

[SPEAKER_02]: How about we give out a three point, a two point or at a one point of the MVP?

[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I love that.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think we have to.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think that like this is a very special case scenario where we are nearly at the end of this, you know, and like we have never done this, but I do think, and I think we're gonna have to do this next week too.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just saying right now.

[SPEAKER_01]: I just think there are like too many good character moments for too many of the characters to like, it's unfair to then not.

[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so, [SPEAKER_01]: Simply the best we're going to have learning of a three point or a two point or and a one pointer, um, so how do you want to start.

[SPEAKER_01]: Do you want to start low to high?

[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.

[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.

[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.

[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.

[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.

[SPEAKER_01]: Listen, I have a document and I will update the document.

[SPEAKER_01]: I have a spreadsheet and I will update this spreadsheet.

[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, I think we should go.

[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm out because I need to keep the reveal that way.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, to think about it up front of who we give them the top one to you see they kind of are those ones.

[SPEAKER_02]: This is so tough.

[SPEAKER_02]: Why have we done this to ourselves?

[SPEAKER_01]: No, I think I think, okay, let me think about this because I think I know who I'm going to.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think I know who I'm giving the three points to.

[SPEAKER_02]: Um, okay, okay.

[SPEAKER_01]: And then.

[SPEAKER_01]: I know who, I know who I want one person to get points.

[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't know if I want them to get two or one.

[SPEAKER_01]: Is my profile?

[SPEAKER_01]: And then the last one.

[SPEAKER_01]: See, even if it doesn't get this three of you, I'll let you get there so many of them.

[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, no, no.

[SPEAKER_01]: OK, all right, all right, all right, all right.

[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like let's do that.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to go with my God.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm saying, I've done it, I've ridden down every now and then.

[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, my, OK, all right, all right, all right.

[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.

[SPEAKER_01]: All right.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think I've written mine down.

[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if I'm solid on it.

[SPEAKER_01]: But here we go.

[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'll review my one point first.

[SPEAKER_01]: And like I will say, there is a bit of, I'm trying to think about what the term is for it.

[SPEAKER_01]: There's a little bit of like a legacy situation here where I feel like throughout the series, this person hasn't necessarily gotten a ton of points.

[SPEAKER_01]: Because there's just so many incredible characters and people that get more meaningful storylines.

[SPEAKER_01]: But for the legacy of it all, [SPEAKER_01]: I think, 12 is a fantastic character.

[SPEAKER_01]: I love her friendship with Alexis.

[SPEAKER_01]: Her generosity in a trying to give Alexis money and imparting this wisdom on her and being a really good friend.

[SPEAKER_01]: And honestly keeping her mouth shut about $46 million throughout the entire series is incredible.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I think for that reason, she deserves at least one point.

[SPEAKER_01]: And so I'm going to give her that one point.

[SPEAKER_02]: Same.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I said, I don't think that she's like the seventh of like talk to her point, but like this is absolutely repaying to either for all the times that we've ever looked at because she only has [SPEAKER_02]: small moments in the show and it's so often overlooked while they're being some of the funniest lines like and just being just an absolute sweetheart and like you said keeping them about $46 million, I would scream from the rooftops if I'd want a scratch card and one like [SPEAKER_02]: and 10 bucks.

[SPEAKER_00]: Like I would be like, I'll tell everyone.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a winner, baby.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_02]: I will say eat the rich.

[SPEAKER_02]: Except for Twyla.

[SPEAKER_02]: Twyla gets the pass.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, the totally, even though she is hoarding wealth and she really should be invested into you know how can you She secretly is again, my head canon is that she is secretly very charitable She she's picking up the the town council deficit like she's putting in stable ramps when and doing the Child, she's solely responsible for keeping the economy of shit's creep going She's the reason why they can have both Bob [SPEAKER_02]: Roland, Ronnie, and Moira employed for a town council ship for what seems to be 20 people in this little time.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, exactly.

[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.

[SPEAKER_01]: Do you want to make your reveal for your two pointer?

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, middle of the road, safe to pin the bull as always.

[SPEAKER_02]: I've got to give it to Stevie.

[SPEAKER_02]: Without Stevie, [SPEAKER_02]: the whole David and Patrick thing doesn't happen.

[SPEAKER_02]: It goes into such a more complex and difficult conversation.

[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like she's not fully deserving of the full three because the pony tail and the tucked in shirt was just an absolute betrayal of her roots.

[SPEAKER_02]: I really hated it.

[SPEAKER_00]: I was really hate it.

[SPEAKER_02]: Do not like it at all.

[SPEAKER_00]: I was like Stevie, what are you doing?

[SPEAKER_00]: Stop it, take it right now.

[SPEAKER_02]: I was like David, yeah, rightfully shame her for that.

[SPEAKER_02]: But no Stevie, again, like similar to Twyla.

[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like this is Steve is often overlooked.

[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like we need to give her a flower as whenever she's doesn't have enough them.

[SPEAKER_02]: She hasn't quite had the season that she has had previously, but she's still been there.

[SPEAKER_02]: She's still such an important character, and that there is so much support that she gives David, [SPEAKER_02]: and seeing the way in the witch that friendship has blossomed and the way in which she's always there for David and they are still just the most awful people together in the most loving way.

[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, I have to go with Steve, I think.

[SPEAKER_01]: This is so tough because I will say like I had three people battling for my two points.

[SPEAKER_01]: I felt like for three points, I was like, I feel like there's one person who kind of stands a bit above the rest.

[SPEAKER_01]: But for the two points, three different people, I think we're battling, for it.

[SPEAKER_01]: And Stevie was one of them.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm still waffling.

[SPEAKER_01]: And ugh.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think ultimately I am going to go with David and stevia again, stevia was one of my options.

[SPEAKER_01]: I just and I respect all of your opinions on like, she makes this happen in a way like she is the catalyst for David deciding to stay and should streak.

[SPEAKER_01]: But I also want to reward David for like the journey that he's taken to get here where he doesn't care what his old New York friends think anymore where like and and also just like he has to tell his family he's not going with them right like he has to tell his sister I'm not moving in with you I have to make this decision and.

[SPEAKER_01]: to like, again, he's not the most selfless character.

[SPEAKER_01]: And so for him to realize like, even the Patrick would move with me, I don't want him to have to do that because he doesn't want to do that.

[SPEAKER_01]: And like putting someone else before himself, like, is like, kind of new for David, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I just, I want to reward it because I know it's difficult for him and I think it's very it'd be very easy for him to return to New York where he fits in a little bit better, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I don't think he doesn't enjoy life and shit streak.

[SPEAKER_01]: I just think he misses the hustle and bustle of New York City.

[SPEAKER_01]: Um, so couldn't be me, but I do want to reward David, because I think what he does is very selfless.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't think we get to see that a ton from David.

[SPEAKER_02]: who say that one piece out, what is this, Lamous?

[SPEAKER_02]: Funny is lying to the whole episode.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think that you said he had to take three slices when I come from a family of four, like I know that if you get a pie, a pizza pie, it's eight slices.

[SPEAKER_01]: So each person gets two.

[SPEAKER_01]: And David took three, and I adore him for it.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_02]: So funny.

[SPEAKER_01]: Lamous is so good.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's so good.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I get the reference now, because I've seen Lamous.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm really good.

[SPEAKER_02]: See yeah, three points, he's very fast.

[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I think we say on three.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.

[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, one, two, three, I like it.

[SPEAKER_01]: Alexis, yeah, yeah.

[SPEAKER_01]: She had to, the thing is, is like, I feel like while, if we're looking at what all these characters are doing, [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe David jumps over one hurdle in like the being selfless for Patrick sort of a thing.

[SPEAKER_01]: Stevie jumps over one hurdle of like getting David to see clearly that he belongs here not in New York.

[SPEAKER_01]: Alexis is both [SPEAKER_01]: You know, selfless when it comes to twilight and the money, selfless when giving the dresses to twilight, and then bold and independent in choosing to move to New York, when the rest of her family has now said, we are not going to New York.

[SPEAKER_01]: Like, she knocks down every single barrier that has put up in front of her, this episode.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I just don't know how it really could go to anyone else.

[SPEAKER_01]: The three points I mean, you know, she's so deserving of it.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I completely agree, much like with Stevie, I feel like Alexis had maybe more focus last season as well, like I feel like this season has obviously been, it's been some funny episodes, like she's been the butt of jokes, what with the whole kind of rebound situation and post-break up-to-head stuff.

[SPEAKER_02]: but I feel like this episode really was a celebration of Alexis and the amount of growth she's had I'm really giving us a chance to reflect and acknowledge how far she's come yeah like it's so [SPEAKER_02]: It to be proud of a fictional character, but I'm genuinely so proud of Alexis, it's just, yeah, I feel like of all characters, she's absolutely deserve an of them, uh, this way.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, I was for the disgruntled Pelican, here's the thing.

[SPEAKER_01]: I grew up in a room.

[SPEAKER_02]: He was in a room.

[SPEAKER_01]: He was in a room.

[SPEAKER_01]: He stole the cinnamon buns from note.

[SPEAKER_02]: I've got my out.

[SPEAKER_01]: I've got my out, but here's the thing because I agree, like, you know, he's there.

[SPEAKER_01]: He's still sending bonds.

[SPEAKER_01]: He's like going to bring them back to the dealership to get a better deal.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like the truck or something.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_01]: But like.

[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think I would put forward a motion to not have a disgruntled if we're going to then if we're going to give out six points of peace this episode.

[SPEAKER_01]: I don't necessarily think we should be negating anyone when like there is no one that I think deserves that even Roland who steals the cinnamon buns.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like really that's not enough for me to be like everyone's cinnamon buns has a guest ever had a cinnamon bun probably not.

[SPEAKER_02]: No, even the whole rose family stole them when they found them.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, and we did.

[SPEAKER_02]: You know why is that?

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_02]: The only thing I would say about the whole like Ren's situation is...

[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, car, and like that, I was a bit like kind of worried about because I was, this is the same mindset I've had to join the, I'm more like, you're setting up a business and you're getting investment for the business, you're not suddenly bajillionaires.

[SPEAKER_03]: Like, oh, it's hell, a little bit.

[SPEAKER_02]: Had it not been for Moira's like, diamond tennis bracelet and huge windfall of getting this big, like TV gig.

[SPEAKER_02]: I would like, calm it down, John, a little bit.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like, you can't just, [SPEAKER_02]: gradually drawn over to the other close to the country on a win.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like, wow, this shit out.

[SPEAKER_02]: So that was a bit thing.

[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, I can totally go with not giving a [SPEAKER_01]: Especially because he was just for the press driving the truck like he didn't actually buy it There's a difference between being like I want to go test drive a new car and like actually putting kind of paper and buying the thing So I can I can like headcan and that they didn't buy the truck, you know, they just like I'll see next episode also I mean like the ingenuity of taking some and buns back to a dealership in the hype of getting a sundry felt that [SPEAKER_02]: Good business.

[SPEAKER_01]: Rowling is running.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so I think we don't.

[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think we need to.

[SPEAKER_01]: We're working super kind this episode.

[SPEAKER_02]: We'll just be able to just take a page out of all the roses books and if anyone is listening and is angry that we're not handing out LVP points, let me just say, let me remind you, it's our podcast and we'll talk to you about me like.

[SPEAKER_01]: You'll get the LVP.

[SPEAKER_01]: You'll get the disgruntled pelican shit on it.

[SPEAKER_01]: That's what happens.

[SPEAKER_02]: But please leave my story.

[SPEAKER_01]: please do, please do.

[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, let's tear-rank this episode.

[SPEAKER_01]: Because we are getting so close to the end, we have two episodes left to tear-rank.

[SPEAKER_01]: So, start spreading the news.

[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, to talk about the warm and fuzzies, like, every single warm and fuzzie, it is like, here you go, it's over platter of warm and fuzzies, but where?

[SPEAKER_01]: Because I think we're both going to be like hot shit.

[SPEAKER_01]: For sure, it's hot shit.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's hot shit.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, um, it has this is the most supreme woman fuzzies, uh, also the sands as well, like that emergency circle, this certainly there as well.

[SPEAKER_02]: Um, we have major plot points because we do get like real things that are happening, like, real substantive changes in people's lives.

[SPEAKER_02]: So I feel like we get a huge amount of part.

[SPEAKER_02]: And we also have, um, [SPEAKER_02]: Banger funny lines, like the, the most just that Twilight is a millionaire is hilarious.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like the fact that they have, like, maybe it's a thing they've thrown in the last minute because they're like, we can, and we can get this joke in and it really doesn't affect the can and the show.

[SPEAKER_02]: But also, if you twist it around and be like, no, they've planned this the whole time.

[SPEAKER_02]: I love it.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I love it either way.

[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah.

[SPEAKER_02]: was one pizza, they missed, like that alone, hot shit.

[SPEAKER_02]: couple of lists for me.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think I agree.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think like I could quibble that there are funnier episodes, but like in terms of the warm fuzzies and the feeling and the heart in this episode, it's really hard to deny it.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's hard to say that any other episode is more deserving of a spot at the top.

[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I'm in full agreement.

[SPEAKER_01]: Let's put it at the top of hot shit.

[SPEAKER_01]: That brings us up to six episodes in the hot shit tier.

[SPEAKER_01]: Two in full bouquet and five in love that journey for me.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I know we started off a little low, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: Like the first four episodes are in love that journey for me, which is just the average placement.

[SPEAKER_01]: But we have been like really top tier last few episodes.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm really, really excited for you to get to see the finale.

[SPEAKER_01]: So it's going to be so good.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm really, I'm really worried.

[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, this is really ending.

[SPEAKER_02]: a dynamic between our friendship here just like you've been Lord like holding this out of me that you know what happens and I don't know what happens.

[SPEAKER_02]: I've got to keep it as secret.

[SPEAKER_02]: YouTube is going to be free and open for me to search whatever hell I like to do for sure.

[SPEAKER_02]: Oh wait for that.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, just a tease a little bit for for the next episode.

[SPEAKER_01]: I so happy ending.

[SPEAKER_01]: That's the name of the the episode.

[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I'm just seeing.

[SPEAKER_01]: I want to see when did it air.

[SPEAKER_01]: April 7, yeah, okay, that's what I thought.

[SPEAKER_01]: This episode of television aired April 7, 2020.

[SPEAKER_01]: For those that live under a rock, and don't remember, that is less than a month after the world went into lockdown.

[SPEAKER_01]: So that is when this episode came out.

[SPEAKER_01]: This episode destroyed me.

[SPEAKER_01]: I was [SPEAKER_01]: Like I, I am notoriously a person who generally does not cry at TV, uh, it's really, really rare for a show to hit me in a way that brings tears to my eyes.

[SPEAKER_01]: I was a nest, uh, this episode for multiple reasons, one being that the world was in crisis and my mental health was really bad.

[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but it was also the end of just like a show that brought me so much joy, um, and it is, it is one of the best finales, uh, of a series finales I've seen.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think like it is, it is up there for me, like there are certain shows that I think hit that like Mount Rushmore status of best endings of all time, and this is one of them.

[SPEAKER_01]: It is so well done.

[SPEAKER_01]: It is so full of heart and so funny, uh, I cannot wait for you to see this episode.

[SPEAKER_01]: so good.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'll totally be diving in.

[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.

[SPEAKER_01]: I also think you're going to be pleased with a one final Moira look.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think you're going to I think you're going to die.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm hoping it didn't get spoiled on it at some point.

[SPEAKER_01]: You may have, but I don't [SPEAKER_02]: And trying to think, like, if there's anything like, I don't know, and we finally got the electric if I just realized as well, the whole, like, that one, like, yeah.

[SPEAKER_02]: Finally got that.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and that's episode.

[SPEAKER_02]: We got the, like, the flipped the hair one, the like, I feel like all these, like, I kind of gifts and, like, memes and images and things.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm slate taking them off.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm trying to think that there's anything else I don't like, I think I've been spoiled on.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think David's out fit for the wedding.

[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, I think that's why I don't think that's a big deal.

[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, I'm going to say at the end of the podcast because maybe people will stop listening at this point.

[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, I was not into David's shirt this episode.

[SPEAKER_01]: The sweater with the hand, it like weirded me out.

[SPEAKER_01]: Like what about something about that hand is like so creepy to me.

[SPEAKER_02]: of all shirts you question, you finally pick this one.

[SPEAKER_02]: Well, why is it so bad with it?

[SPEAKER_01]: Was it?

[SPEAKER_01]: It was really weird.

[SPEAKER_01]: It was not just because it was a hand, but it was like something about the way the hand was like filled in with like a murky kind of a vibe.

[SPEAKER_01]: It gave horror.

[SPEAKER_02]: It was big, wasn't it?

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, I didn't like it.

[SPEAKER_02]: We're not more free to help by the shape of Moira's sparkly hearts.

[SPEAKER_02]: I like it.

[SPEAKER_02]: I made her look like an egg.

[SPEAKER_00]: I like it.

[SPEAKER_00]: I like eggs.

[SPEAKER_00]: I like eggs.

[SPEAKER_02]: I like eggs.

[SPEAKER_00]: I like eggs.

[SPEAKER_00]: I had eggs Benedict the other day.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I just, there's nothing wrong with that.

[SPEAKER_01]: I just, you can't.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's one of my favorite things.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I decided I will learn how to make poached eggs in the next year.

[SPEAKER_01]: Because I need to.

[SPEAKER_01]: Why are you making that?

[SPEAKER_01]: You just make poached eggs on the regular?

[SPEAKER_02]: Pretty regular.

[SPEAKER_01]: It just seems so hard to do though because there's no oil water, oil water, it's just spinning around, you have to crack the egg in it and then it's like, make the Holendase sauce.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's like a thing.

[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, you're making Holendase sauce.

[SPEAKER_02]: You're that that's a pain.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_02]: That's not a regular thing.

[SPEAKER_01]: Can you buy Holendase sauce?

[SPEAKER_01]: I guess you can.

[SPEAKER_02]: You can, but that's a bit wrong.

[SPEAKER_02]: That's just like he.

[SPEAKER_01]: Well, like, wouldn't you?

[SPEAKER_01]: If you want eggs, Benny, like, then you [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the most I've done is like, I'm a sunny side up girly, you know, I love to poke a yoke.

[SPEAKER_01]: Um, give me that drip a yoke all day, uh, but anyway, exciting is the best.

[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I don't know how we got here.

[SPEAKER_01]: Next week, we'll be happy ending.

[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, then we're going to do the special, um, so we'll cover that.

[SPEAKER_01]: And then we'll come back for our series wrap up.

[SPEAKER_01]: So now's the time.

[SPEAKER_01]: If you have final words, you'd like to give us.

[SPEAKER_01]: Now's the time to start spending your emails in.

[SPEAKER_01]: Now's the time to send us in a voicemail, do whatever, leave us a five star review, do whatever you want.

[SPEAKER_01]: Um, talking shit.com, you know, you know, all the places.

[SPEAKER_01]: And, uh, and yeah, and then we're gonna announce what we're up to next.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, also.

[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I mean, slight things, guy, build up, smidge a hype and stuff.

[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, there might even be an appearance, uh, just a brief one of, uh, a cast member from the show.

[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, so you look out for that.

[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, I'll probably play it next week.

[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, [SPEAKER_02]: I, I previewed it today and was on the floor laughing because we have said see of it.

[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, you see how that goes.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, like feedback feedback feedback like given we've only got a short bit of time together people on here, everyone's thoughts.

[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, please do send it in and we love it.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like it honestly brings up our day whenever we get anything through.

[SPEAKER_01]: Really does.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, well, I don't know.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's about it.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's all we have.

[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what to do.

[SPEAKER_01]: So then he can go watch the final episode and die, sobbing.

[SPEAKER_01]: That's gonna break you.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not even trying to like sugarcoat it.

[SPEAKER_01]: You will be a mess.

[SPEAKER_01]: Like you can't watch this episode and then have plans like 15 minutes later.

[SPEAKER_01]: Because you will simply have to like cocoon and hibernate and eat your weights worth of ice cream to feel better.

[SPEAKER_02]: I do have some Ben and Jerry, so there you go.

[SPEAKER_02]: Can be done.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, like, just the fact that you don't cry at things and I seek out things to make me cry.

[SPEAKER_02]: So what's like, yeah, this does not build well.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think I can count on one hand, the number of like television shows slash movies that have made me cry.

[SPEAKER_01]: So it's a top tier.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's top tier.

[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I can do that for this week.

[SPEAKER_01]: I cry, I just cry at other things.

[SPEAKER_01]: I just cry at other things.

[SPEAKER_01]: Existential dread, you know?

[SPEAKER_01]: Less so television and movies.

[SPEAKER_01]: But, yeah, I look forward to hearing all of your thoughts.

[SPEAKER_01]: And everyone else's thoughts, if they want to send them in, but, until next time, everyone warmest regards.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm best wishes.
