President Trump signed an agreement with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albinizi to boost access to critical minerals in rare earths.
This includes plans for projects worth a total up to eight and a half billion dollars.
The deal is part of efforts to secure a stable supply of critical minerals, with Australia positioning itself as a viable alternative to China.
Meantime, Trump said his administration is still talking to Beijing about working on a trade deal.

A US appeals court allowed President Trump's plan to deploy troops to Portland, Oregon, to counter protests against his immigration crackdown.
The two to one ruling lifted in order that blocked the deployment of Oregon National Guard members to Portland, but it does not affect this second order that blocked the deployment of troops from any state.
The ruling is temporary and a three day trial on the merits is set to start in Portland on October twenty ninth, which may lead to the Appeals Court reviewing the case again.
Amazon Web Services said it has resolved the issues that plagued its services for about fifteen hours today.

Bloomberg consensus calls for revenue of eleven point five two billion dollars, less than half of that coming from the US and Canada, and earnings per share of six dollars ninety four cents.
