Speaker 1

Hey, fan, Rito's, welcome back to how Rude Tanner Ritos.

Today we have just a simple host chat for you.

We're gonna chat all things Christmas and our Christmas plans.

The iHeartRadio team is going to take some much needed time off, so we just wanted to wish everyone to marry Christmas and chat a little bit.

So happy holidays, everybody, Happy, Happy holidays.

Speaker 2

Are you doing anything fun this year?

Where are you any travel?

Any plans?

Speaker 1

Not for Christmas?

No, we just keep it simple.

We go to my brother's house, Darren, who you met on the podcast.

Yeah, the fan Rito's met on the podcast last year.

We go to his house for Christmas Eve.

That's always a tradition.

He loves to host.

I do Thanksgiving, he does Christmas Eve.

Love it, and then that's that's kind of it.

It's gonna be a little different this year because Tate is working on Christmas Eve.

He works at a senior living facility in the restaurant.

He's a line cook, okay at the restaurant, so he's got to be feeding all of the residents on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Speaker 2

So when I worked in treatment, I worked many many holidays, you know, many Thanksgivings and Christmases and stuff.

Yeah, I love it.

Speaker 1

I'm like, good, good, buddy, you're giving back in a commitment like these are all.

Speaker 2

You got a job, You got to show up even when you don't want to, even when it's a holiday.

Sometimes you got to do things.

So I'm very proud of him.

Speaker 1

I'm proud of him too.

So we might be doing our Christmas morning actually on Christmas Eve instead, Okay, got it because he's got to get up and work, and yeah, he would, and then he's got it.

He would go to his dad's house afterwards too and do Christmas Morning there, and so he's like, I can't do two Christmas mornings and then get to work, So I think it's going to do it the day before.

It'll be different though.

We've never had a Christmas Morning without Tait, so.

Speaker 2

No era adult adult era of them where you're like, oh wait, guys.

Speaker 1

Are yeah what about you guys?

What are you planning?

Speaker 2

We very very simple.

This year.

Zoe is with her dad for Christmas Eve and Christmas morning, so she'll come to our house like midday on Christmas.

B will be with us Christmas even Christmas morning because Morty is Jewish, so they don't have any plans.

And uh, but usually the kids now, like they don't wake up early.

They're they're like, it's so different now.

Yeah, as much Christmas Eve, we don't necessarily have any plans.

I'm not sure.

I mean, it's supposed to be pouring down.

Speaker 1

Right, Oh were flash flood warnings people.

Speaker 2

Yeah, the it's supposed to get like ten up to ten inches of rain in like out near nd Dale and stuff, and like six and a half here in the valley.

So it's supposed to be a kind of a nightmare even so much that like, depending on how it is on Christmas, I might tell my parents, like, don't even drive in this because the plan is that they're gonna come up here and we're gonna you know, have food and anyway.

Speaker 1

So yeah, maybe we do just FaceTime this year.

You don't want to.

Speaker 2

I don't want them driving, you know, I don't want any of us driving in that if we don't have to.

But yeah, no, we we do it.

It's very low key now that the kids, you know, are older.

It's like, I know, Bee wants to go see her boyfriend Joey and his family on Christmas Eve, and I'm like, okay, that's fine.

You know, yeah, you're I get your Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, you can go do that.

So, you know, just trying to uh enjoy the holiday and like enjoy some some peace.

But yeah, the now the kids are older, it's a very different holiday.

Speaker 1

It's very different.

There's no miss five.

Am I do miss it?

Speaker 2

You know me?

Speaker 1

Yeah?

I long the little kid like that was just my era.

That was my favorite mom era was little kids, right, and just the excitement of everything, not just Christmas, but just like whether it's crafts or activities.

Speaker 2

Knew them, so you're like, I know exactly what you like.

I like, I could go and find little things for you that you're gonna love or that you know, or I just I know what you're gonna like.

And then they become teenagers and you're like, here, I got you a thing, and they're like, I know you rather have a gift card And you're like that's all that's all the kids.

Speaker 1

You want cash or gift cards?

Speaker 2

Yes, that's it.

So yeah.

And and this year, uh, you know, with it being a slower work year and stuff, I was like, we are not doing crazy gifts this year.

We don't need to.

We don't like, that's not it smart.

So yeah, we're doing stockings, gift cards and just enjoying the day in the season.

Yeah, did you do anything fun like leading up to it?

Any fun?

Christmas is like moments.

Speaker 1

We did nothing.

So I woke up this morning, I was like, oh my gosh, Christmas is in two days.

Like we didn't not sing, like we went out and looked at Christmas lights once.

Yeah, but no, I'm actually saving my Christmas activity for after Christmas.

So this weekend, okay, which will be It'll be the twenty seventh.

Saturday, the twenty seventh, I'm going to a special Christmas show in LA with Jeff Franklin and Michael as well.

We're going to see Joey McIntyre at the Tinsel Color Show at the Spiegel Tent, which is right by.

So far it's fantastic.

It's been going on all of December.

I haven't been able to go.

So I got tickets for Saturday and I asked Jeff.

I'm like, Jeff, come with me, and he was like, oh, I would love to.

Oh I love Yeah, We're sox We're gonna go see Joey McIntyre.

He's hosting.

It's like a Christmas medley of songs and dancers and acts, and he's hosting and singing and fancying and there's a bunch of talented people in.

Speaker 2

Christmas variety show kind of moment.

I love that.

Speaker 1

It's called a Eagle tent.

I've never been to this venue.

Speaker 2

Yeah, content is like the Big.

It's like, isn't it like the big?

Just like black and white stripe, kind of like peaked.

Speaker 1

It's just like an ornate tent.

But I think it's more of a permanent.

It's not like the circus tents that are put up in a day.

It's like it's like two.

Speaker 2

Poles and it's sort of yeah, yeah, yeah, I know.

Speaker 1

It's super coolsley.

I think, very sirk disilay.

And so I'm super excited to see the venue, to see the show, to see McIntire.

Yeah, I'm super excited.

Speaker 2

So did you text him and tell him that you're going?

Speaker 1

Not yet, No, I've been putting a lot of thought into whin to tell him.

Speaker 2

So we'll talk after this.

Speaker 1

We'll have our plan my text.

Speaker 2

Yeah, yeah, you and I will have our consultation and I'll help you get through this.

Speaker 1

But knowing Jeff, Jeff's already texted and be like, hey, we're coming Saturday with ANDREI was like, Andrey didn't tell me that.

Speaker 2

Right, Yeah, that's exacting.

He's gonna be like damn does she not like like why doesn't she like she?

Speaker 1

Or like ask like so weird.

It's so stressful.

Speaker 2

I can't cope.

Speaker 1

I can't handle having his phone numbers.

So anyways, all that to say, You're doing a Christmas activity after Christmas, and I'm very excited about it.

Speaker 2

I love it.

Speaker 1

How about you, guys?

Are you into holiday spirit and activities?

Speaker 2

I actually I went to the mall yesterday with the girls to finish up some last minute Christmas shopping.

Speaker 1

Very brave of you.

Speaker 2

Well, first of all, we went at like nine thirty in the morning.

I told them.

I was like, I have one thing.

I'm going to the gym at eight.

I said, when I get home, we are going to the mall and doing what we got to do, and we will be out of there before noon because I am not dealing with it.

Yes, it was a Monday, it's still the monday before you know what I mean?

Speaker 1

Yeah, kids are.

Speaker 2

Off school, but the mall was empty.

So we got done what we needed to do.

And yeah, and I completed the last few little things and they got their last few little things and nice.

Yeah, but I be built a gingerbread house.

Her and her boyfriend built a gingerbread house here and that it drove them absolutely bananas when they were doing it, because you know how gingerbread houses are.

It's oh, you want to just ice it, stick it together and be done.

And it's like you got to ice it, hold it.

Speaker 1

Oh no, let it fall apart, hold it again.

Speaker 2

Yeah, and so but it's torture.

It is still on a little platter in our kitchen.

They made it and it has held up.

So I don't know if they like super glued.

Speaker 1

But yeah, well I was going to say if you were hot glued your gingerbread together and gingerbread houre is that much?

Speaker 2

Now I try to to gingerbread juice because I usually have that experience with him where I'm like, this is terrible, this is so frustrating.

Speaker 1

We used to do this with friends.

We would have a gingerbread house making party on one Saturday of December.

And that was the key is that you not only do you glue the gingerbread pieces together, right, but we would use like one of those little individual milk curtains, like the little halfwayaint or whatever, and you bread too.

It looks like a house.

Speaker 2

I do know some of the gingerbread uh making tips from nineteen thousand Hallmark movies that I've done where there's inevitably a gingerbread house competition of some sort, and I have I have paid attention to art department creating them so nice.

So you have a hot glue, a lot of a lot of brown cardboard.

Speaker 1

Yeah, that's the way to get it done.

It's kind of exactly.

Speaker 2

So I'm gonna I don't really have any like Christmas Christmas things I like to.

It's gonna be rainy and cozy here.

I will put on the little fake fireplace on like Netflix or whatever.

Yeah, yeah, the log Yeah, the little cracker clackling, Oh jeez, crack clackling, crackling, the crackling, a little log.

I put that on.

Put some nice like uh, like Christmas music, like classical Christmas or instrumental, and I will sit with the trees and I will enjoy, and I will eat far more sugar than I need to.

We have already watched them up at Christmas.

Speaker 1

Carol, I was gonna ask, what movie have you mind?

You watched it.

Speaker 2

Already and I watched it a couple of weeks ago.

Had to Yeah, because it's the greatest one ever.

I will fight anyone on it.

Speaker 1

I'll watch it this year in honor with you.

It's so good and it's the most it uses.

Speaker 2

The most Dickens from the book.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I think, yeah, I've heard that before, maybe from you in fact, but probably it's historically accurate.

Speaker 2

Rights, it's the most historically accurate as far as using text of the book and even the emphasis on particular words that Dickens puts in.

Really Bonzo reads it.

Speaker 1

Yeah, respect many inspect's so cool.

Speaker 2

But yeah, we'll watch that.

I will probably watch Elf because I also love Elf.

Speaker 1

I hate Elf.

I'm people will come for me.

And I don't like this movie.

Michael loves it.

It's his favorite movie, and I'm like, suffer through it.

I don't know why I hate it.

Will Ferrell is brilliant.

It's a wonderful actor.

I do not like over oversized men, you know what.

I drinking syrup on.

Speaker 2

Cereal, Like I just don't for anyone other than Will Ferrell.

I wouldn't like it either.

I usually don't like slapstick comedy or like over the top.

Will Ferrell is the one person that I am like, and John z Radley step brothers all of it.

Speaker 1

Oh yeah, yeah, you know, it's very dependent on who the main actor is.

Speaker 2

Yes, but I will definitely watch Elf.

I've also got to get in Charlie Brown Christmas.

Speaker 1

That's what I'm gonna watch.

Charlie Brown Christmas.

Speaker 2

Yep, we forgot that Kim Barti trio playing the music I was written by the Vince Lombardi trio, the famous piano.

Speaker 1

I love it so much.

Speaker 2

I love that.

But but yeah, nothing nothing too crazy other than just indulging in uh way too much sugar in between now and New Year's because come the end of January first is when I just that's it.

It's all I don't do like New Year's resolutions.

But I'm like, there has to be an end date.

My birthday comes up like two weeks later, so it really.

Speaker 1

Isn't an end date.

There's Yeah, it just continues, just continues.

Speaker 2

I just lie and I'm like, oh, now no, we're not going to do that.

And then it's like, oh, but a Christmas cookie basket, Well, you can have fresh, fresh treats.

Speaker 1

You just have to get rid of thee the stale treats.

Clear off.

Speaker 2

Let's be fair.

I'm not there's not going to be that much to get rid of because I'm going to get rid of it in my stomach.

Speaker 1

And I'm just like yeah, yeah, that's the best way to clean house, right.

Speaker 2

Yeah.

But now this year I am I am prioritizing like rest and peace and like trying to be of servius where I can, giving where I can, and like not and and letting the expectation of holidays go.

Speaker 1

That's so important because that's what.

Speaker 2

Kills us, is the expectation of what a holiday is supposed to be.

Speaker 1

The pressure, the consumerism.

Speaker 2

Like, oh, that's what I hate about it.

I hate the consumerism.

One nice thing about not having the fundage this year to really, you know, do stuff.

Speaker 1

I was like, I let it is actually great.

Speaker 2

I get to let it go because it's the it's the thing I hate about the holidays.

Speaker 1

Yeah, totally get it.

It's It's true.

It's all it's it should be about being with your family and.

Speaker 2

Well traditions, being with Yeah, people that you want to be love true.

Yeah, people that you love, which may or may not be.

Speaker 1

Your family, that's true.

Important distinction.

Speaker 2

Yeah, because there are a lot of people, you know, I know this time of year isn't easy for a lot of people.

I know that there are a lot of people who think that they're supposed to be with their families or that you know whatever, and their families are not the source of love and positive things for them.

So if that's you, we hear you, We love you.

Go where the love is riding the piece in wherever you can.

Speaker 1

There's so much pressure to be happy and yeah, but it's true, like Christmas is really hard.

And I remember my first few Christmases when I had dinne up the kids or I had to share the kids with my ex husband.

I was really sad on those days.

And I think that's that's okay.

You acknowledge it, you feel it, and then you move on.

Speaker 2

And yeah, I think holidays, you know, sometimes we notice the things that have changed in a big way on holidays because they're you know, our traditions.

So things have changed for you this year.

Just know that the two of us here at HRT, we love you.

We think you're wonderful and and I hope that you all get to celebrate in the way that you choose.

I hope you have a wonderful holiday season.

And I hope that your kids, if you if if Santa visits your house.

I hope that your kids don't wake you up at four thirty a like I used to do to my parents.

I hope that they at least let you sleep until six.

Speaker 1

At least six o'clock, get light until six o'clock.

Right now, I was in the middle of the night.

Speaker 2

I was like, you guys, you guys, you got My mom was like, yeah, yeah, right, I do.

Miss it.

Speaker 1

Miss Christmas.

Speaker 2

Happy holidays everyone, Yes.

Speaker 1

Pan Rito's thanks for being part of our our Howard Tanarito's family.

We love you guys, and we'll be thinking for you this Christmas.
