Episode Transcript
Welcome everyone.
It is the KSR pre Show.
It is Thursday, January twenty second.
Shannon the Dude, Billy Rutledge, give us a call on the Clark's Puppet Shop phone line at eight five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven.
It could be our whiskey Thief call of the day.
Could also send us a text on the Quatrelle Auto group text line five two two six five six six five six.
Big win for the Cats last night.
They are rolling.
That is four straight.
We'll talk about that in just a few minutes.
First, Billy, we are getting closer and closer to the weekend which is going to apparently be taken over by this massive winter storm.
The meteorologist or in a tizzy tweeting back and forth at each other.
I love the pettiness, the dorkiness of the weather nerds out there.
Are you ready for this big winter storm that's coming in, because they're acting like it's going to be like the storm of the century.
Speaker 2As ready as I'll ever be.
I mean, I don't have a generator or anything like that, do you, dude?
Speaker 1Uh No, No, I don't.
Speaker 2Okay, So if we lose power, I mean we're lighting candles and we're huddling with blankets.
Speaker 1I do have a gas fireplace, though, I think that well that helps.
I have a gas stove so I can cook.
Speaker 2Okay, so since you get your eggs in the in this, you'll be able to make some Chris scrambled eggs.
Speaker 1That's right.
Yeah, So I think I'm fine.
I'm just worried about you because I know that the game is coming up at noon on Saturday, and you're gonna be there till probably what five o'clock, you know, with.
Speaker 2The post right, I think I'm going to be trapped here in the city center over the weekend, Shannon.
You know they've talked about possibly getting a hotel room for me on Friday night so I can be there Saturday morning.
I don't think that's the problem, Shannon.
I think it's me leaving Saturday, and uh, Kentucky has not canceled a lot of games in their history, so I don't know if I expect the game to be canceled.
But Shannon, there's a chance people leave up arena, and there's you know, I may possibly a foot of snow on the ground since they had gotten into the arena.
So I do love Matt' sturring the pot with all these these weathermen, and you know, having people tag him in these tweets of them being petty or not, there does seem to be a little animosity.
Speaker 1Was the Yeah, there is the one guy in Louisville who if you tweet him an ice map, I think he'll just like delete his Twitter account.
Speaker 3Now.
Speaker 1He says he will block you or mute you if you tweet him ice maps.
And I kind of wish I just had an ice map, Billy, so I could tweet him my ice I don't have an ice map to tweet them, but I just want to just, you know, say hey, here's my ice map.
What do you think about this?
Just so I can get the mute button hit on me.
Speaker 2Well, I respect somebody who stands behind their figures or their models as much as he does.
I mean, just if you're not going to agree with me, just mute and block and you can take my information with a grain of salt if you want to.
I love that gravity.
Speaker 1He's protecting his feed, is what he says.
He's got to protect his feed.
Speaker 2I am going to cheap the integrity of the weather, Billy.
It's the integrity of the weather.
We got to have it.
Speaker 1We can't be having your fake AI ice maps taking over social media.
He's not gonna have any part of that.
Speaker 2Well, but everybody could be a meteorologist, Shannon.
You can't just look at your app and then know what's gonna happen.
There's I guess specialists that look at models and we'll tell you exactly what's gonna happen.
But yet, you know, weather men get it wrong all the time, and I think that's why there's so many one different ones saying different things.
So I don't know, dude, are you ready to go for the weekend?
Are you all set?
Speaker 1Let's go.
Like I said, I don't need milking and cookies or milking bread or whatever people get.
Give me a frozen pizza and some beer, Shannon, the dude's brew.
We're ready to go.
That's all I need.
I'll just sit back, watch the games, get drunk, and eat pizza.
That's a good snowed end weekend for me.
Speaker 2It's a seven mile walk to my house if I were to leave the studio here, Shannon, So I either sleep here at the city center or hotel, or maybe Officer Gone picks me up.
In his helicopter and takes me.
Speaker 1Well, here's the thing.
Now, if you set the presidents of okay, I can walk home if I need to.
If you can walk home from the studio, that means also you can walk back to the studio.
So don't try to get out of work on Monday now I can't.
When you approve that you can walk home in a snowstorm, you can come back then.
Speaker 2So just that's a great point, they say, like, don't learn something that you don't want to do.
Speaker 1That's right.
And Matt Jones maybe is the best at.
Speaker 2That, oh a thousand, a thousand, or a guy who.
Speaker 1Was so smart he can't even he could barely log onto a computer.
I think he's purposely not learned how to do that, just so he doesn't have to check his email, like I think.
Can imagine how many emails that guy has over the last fifteen years of.
Speaker 2Being inlay checks that he hadn't cashed for two years.
Speaker 1Yeah, well, you know it's a good problem to have, all right.
So you mentioned, you know, meteorologists getting it right or getting it wrong.
Somebody on this show nearly got the correct score dead on.
I think you, Billy, were just one point away from predicting the exact score.
Last night, Kentucky beats Texas eighty five eighty.
I think you had eighty four eighty, didn't you?
I did, Yes, Yeah, A little pat.
Speaker 3On the back for you.
Yeah.
Speaker 1Kentucky goes to four and two in the SEC, thirteen and six overall, and all of a sudden, Billy Kentucky is now f in the conference and we're seeing a resurgence for this team, at least for now.
There's a lot to take away from this win.
I'll tell you what I'll go first, and then you give me your takes from it.
Okay, okay, okay.
So I think number one thing that I liked is that Kentucky didn't fall behind seventeen points at the start of the game.
They didn't have to come from behind.
They actually won a game the normal way that way.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1Yeah, So I liked that they didn't fall behind.
They got off to a good start.
Number two, I think they played very aggressively, maybe more aggressively than we've seen all year long.
They got to the free throw line thirty five times.
And not only did they get to the free throw line, they made thirty out of thirty five.
I thought that was a big part of the game.
Number three Colin Chandler, massive game for him.
He did it with the flu, wasn't feeling well, didn't go through the shoot around, but still came out had a massive game.
I think he is somebody that we're going to have to get a lot offensively from moving forward with the injuries that they're dealing with.
So great to see Colin Chandler have a big game.
Aberdeen and o Way both played well last night.
The backcourt I think was everything.
Those are two guys that we're gonna need to you know, Phil, especially Aberdeen, Philip big shoes at the point guard position.
With Jalen lobiing out.
I'm glad that he's continuing to be consistent playing in the back court and starting.
Uh my guy Marino again, speaking of consistency, another big part of the team's success.
Didn't score a ton of points, but he did have six assists, which is awesome for a big man.
So I think that's something worth mentioning from the game.
Speaker 2Last bocks man, how many blocks he have in that game?
Yeah, he was everywhere.
Speaker 1And then finally the bad news of the night, Cam Williams breaks his foot.
Mark Pope says that he is out for a while.
Billy, I would take that as he's probably gonna be out for the rest of the season.
I don't I'm not a doctor, but I don't expect Cam Williams to come back from a broken foot before the end of the year.
I mean, we've got what two months.
How quickly can somebody come back from a broken foot.
I don't know, but I will and expect them to be back in a couple of months.
So that was bad news.
And once again now we have not one, not two, but three significant injuries to this roster.
And I'm counting Jane Quaintens because I don't know that he's going to come back.
We still don't know that that knee keeps swallowing up any bigger.
It's going to be the size of Rapperina.
So I'm not sure what he's coming back.
But those were sort of my takeaways from last night.
Billy, what do you want to add to that?
Speaker 2Well, kind of let me go down the list, because you got to think where this Kentucky team was just a week or two ago.
I mean they were nine and six, zero and two in conference play, and since have won four straight games in the SEC, first in the Mark Pope era.
So, I mean they were down and out.
We were counting them out of the tournament, and to their credit, they fought.
They've come together and they've had some big comebacks and a good win versus Texas last night.
So one, it's just nice to be here right now.
It's just nice to talk about a win for Kentucky basketball because there was a chance the season was going down in the dumps, right.
It was nice not to be down seventeen in the first half.
I mean, it's an easier game when you don't have to come back like that.
But man, this was necessary.
Man, you needed this game.
You know, Kentucky has the number one hardest schedule remaining in college.
Speaker 1Basketball, double right, Oh, I didn't know that.
Speaker 2So like after Ole Miss, which is probably the easiest team left on your schedule, it is a gauntlet for Kentucky.
So they needed these games to start SEC play, especially after dropping that first one.
So you mentioned the free throw total that Kentucky had, that was something that Texas were really good.
Led the nation in free throw attempts.
They were also top fifteen in offensive rebound percentage.
Kentucky had the same amount of offensive rebounds as Texas.
They even had more rebounds than Texas, I mean exactly.
So, I mean they are doing it and doing it their own way against teams that are good at doing those things.
So, man, Colin Chandler's flu game, well, I think we'll remember that one for a while.
This guy's fining his shot again after struggling a little bit at the beginning.
Have sec play.
But I mean, Shannon correct me if I'm wrong.
This guy's really important.
Oh, it's just like, well, I mean, it makes everybody more important now.
Speaker 1I mean I think Trent Noah has got to step up and possibly get some some more minutes now with these injuries, especially Cam Williams last night.
So it just makes everybody's role that much more important.
Speaker 2Well, and that was kind of maybe Matt's main takeaway on the post game last night is that Kentucky now has five players for three positions.
I mean, they have so many bigs that they they kind of didn't have as many guards as they needed.
And now with all these injuries, you have to wonder, I mean, do you burn the re red shirt of Branden Hawthorne and put him out there?
Do do you go and get a dink pat from the G League.
Shannon, I mean, we learned all about Dinka on the post game show last night.
I mean, there seems to be some panic setting in a little bit about just how many bodies Kentucky has left on this roster.
Do you share the same sentiment after Cam Williams goes down by the way, four to six weeks is the usual timeline for a broken foot.
Okay, well that brings Cam back around the SEC Tournament NCAA.
Speaker 1So maybe he can't come back then, because I know the SEC Network postgame show at first was reporting he was out for the year.
Then they came back and corrected that and said out for a while.
Those were Mark Pope's words.
But you know, Pope has been dealt a tough hand.
If you look at these first two seasons here with all the injuries this year, then you go back to last year, Andrew Carr was out a lot of games with his back, Lamont Butler was dealing with injuries.
Kirk cresad down with a season leading injury.
Yeah, so he's you know, somehow they're still finding ways to win.
But I am a little concerned with the roster being depleted and with that upcoming schedule that you just talked about, it's going to be tough sledding going ahead.
But you know, if anything, we've seen that this team is resilient and something they didn't have again we keep I feel like this is the theme for this team.
The fight that they have shown since the Gonzaga game or maybe a couple of games after that, they weren't, you know, as I think, showing the effort that we would expect, but the especially since the SEC season has started, this team's showing a lot of fight, a lot of resilience here and can win a lot of different ways, which I think is important going into March.
Speaker 2Yeah, and if you're a Kentucky fan and have enjoyed watching the Kentucky kid Malachai moreno play so well for this team, well you know, get ready for much more of Trent Noah and Jasper Johnson.
These two guys are going to have to step up just because of the injury to Cam Williams and Jalen Low.
So, I mean, that's going to be exciting to see if those guys can do it.
But like let's add some more.
I mean, Mo Diabate was screaming at his teammates not too long ago.
And now I feel like he's doing the little things right.
And you know he's bringing a lot of energy and spurts to this team.
Oh, Tega Oway guys are making shots on the perimeter.
So now Otaga always got a lot more space to operate down low, right.
I mean he can go one on one with his guy, and that's when he's at his best.
So I mean we're starting to see this team come together a little bit.
And like I said, a game you needed to have at home one more versus Ole miss and then I guess you just maybe do the best you can the rest of the way.
But eleven times eleven lead changes.
It was a close game, but and you know Texas still covered though, Shannon we I think you called it yesterday.
That line was a little too high techy mine of six and a half.
Speaker 1Now, I didn't listen to the postgame show, but I did at least see one or two comments that angry Billy was out last night on the postgame show.
So what happened last night that I need to know about, because if you're angry, I mean, you know you need anger management.
I'm here for you to help you and bring you down a little bit.
Speaker 2So what happened, Yeah, well, just some guy called in and said I sounded tired, Shannon.
I was like, I don't, I'm not.
I don't sound tired.
I'm bringing the energy all night.
And then he came after me a little bit, saying he's from Oldham County and just it was a long call.
It was frustrating, and then he ended the call with, you know, let me tell you why I'm the biggest UK fan oh in the country.
And so we were just like, okay, goodbye.
Speaker 1The debate of who's the biggest UK fan in the country has also been a big thing.
After will Stein said that he was the biggest basketball fan, the biggest Kentucky basketball fan you'd ever meet.
I challenged them on that.
Now you get everybody calling in trying to say that they're the biggest fan.
Yeah, who knows.
Maybe we need to have a biggest fan contest.
Speaker 2Oh we do.
And I'm sure Matt will in the summer and then he can crown whoever he thinks is the number one fan.
I think it's going to be hard to decide.
Speaker 1Do you agree with me?
Like when you're deciding like who is the biggest fan.
I don't think it matters like if you go to every game.
I definitely don't think it matters like how much money you have.
But I do think what matters in considering who's the biggest Kentucky fan is how much of your everyday life do you dedicate to something involving Kentucky basketball, whether it be listening to four hours of Kentucky Radio broadcast Tom Leach and the pre Show and KSR.
You know, we'll start there.
If you listen to four hours of sports talk radio specifically about Kentucky sports, that puts you in the cat like the conversation right away.
So I think listening to four hours of radio number one, whether it be podcast or whatever it is.
Number Two, you have to watch the games.
You can't be one of these people that doesn't watch the game because the team's not doing good, or you check out in the second half because they're down about seventeen points and then you come back later to find so if you do that, you're out.
Other than that, I think it really just comes down to, like I said, how much time do you spend a day thinking about or dedicating to Kentucky basketball or Kentucky football.
Speaker 2I mean, I agree with your criteria.
I would also add that you root for all the sports and not just maybe football or men's basketball.
You know you've gone to Memorial Coliseum or at least try to support the other teams.
And then also, I mean add in how much of your skin is covered in ink When it comes to tattoos, you have to have a tattoo, you're saying, Well, I mean, you don't have to, but like, I definitely think it puts you more in the running if you were to have a big wildcat on your billy.
What if I'm but what if that's a commitment.
Speaker 1What if I'm just not a tattoo person though, Like I love Kentucky, but I mean, you know I'm not.
Speaker 2Gonna I'm just sounds like the guy over here is a little bit more committed to the cat than you are.
Speaker 1Well, I mean, like, I love my mom, but I'm not going to put a big tattoo in my mom on my back.
That would be weirdhit It's gonna be weird.
Speaker 2I love, I heart my mom.
Tattoos are very popular, so maybe we can make that happen along with a big old wildcat on your back.
Speaker 1So yeah, we want to hear your thoughts from the game.
What are your thoughts on this season now moving forward?
Again?
I mean, I feel like they've they've flipped the script on us.
Just when we thought Kentucky basketball was down and out, They've now won four straight.
They're four and two in the SEC, they're fit in the conference standings right now.
We want to hear from you eight five, nine to two, twenty two eighty seven, or if you think you're the biggest Kentucky And I may have.
Speaker 2Jumped on that guy a little bit last night.
I apologize.
He was from Oldham County, which where I'm from, so I maybe should have related a little bit shamp but he's poking me.
Speaker 1He's one of your neighbors.
Speaker 2Basically opened the bear a little bit saying I sounded tired.
I didn't sound tired.
Speaker 1Well, wake up, billy.
Speaker 2Do I sound tired?
Speaker 1You sound angry?
I think you're still angry this morning.
I need you to calm down.
Good will we good?
Do you need a mimosa?
Speaker 2I'd love I have a pistachio creamer here in my coffee.
That's getting me through the day.
Speaker 1All right, Well, take your calls.
Coming up next it is the KSR pre Show.
We'll be right back.
Speaker 2Welcome back to the KSR pre Show at Shannon of the Dude at Billy R Sports on Twitter's where you can find us.
Speaker 1David writes in I'm glad he says this because I saw this last night.
There is a local news channel here Billy in Louisville, Okay, that is saying we could get anywhere between four and nineteen inches of snow and then basically said we'll no more later.
I saw that and I was reading it, going, really, I mean, that's really a bold prediction you're making there, that you're saying anywhere between four and nineteen inches of snow.
I mean, I don't need a Doppler radar to say that we're going to get something four to nineteen.
I mean that's pretty it's pretty broad.
Speaker 2Right, Well, I could have made that prediction, right.
I need more specificity, Like I need to know if I can drive in the snow, if I'm going to need to hunker down, if if it's going to be more ice or than snow.
That's the real problem, right dude, I mean, you get the.
Speaker 1Ice, uh south side Chuck wants to know.
He said, We've had five major injuries in a year and a half, potentially season ending for two of the other three injuries.
So what's going on in Kentucky.
Speaker 2I don't know.
Speaker 1I mean, look, teams deal with this.
It just feels like Kentucky has just been, like I said earlier, just dealt a bad hand with these injuries.
It's just bad luck.
I don't think it's anything that we're doing wrong.
It just happened sometimes, and Kentucky has definitely been dealing with it the last with the first couple of years from Mark Pope, do we need like a foot doctor?
Speaker 2Well, it can't be annabel right because this was pre Annabelle as well as we try to figure out the problem of this.
Yeah, there's a conspiracy theory that all the forty nine ers players a getting injured because of a power plant near their stadium that makes their bones brittle.
Speaker 1They're not drinking enough milk because what it is.
Oh yeah, that's part of Yeah, drink your milk.
Speaker 2So I don't know what our conspiracy theory for injuries is going to be.
People are asking about Malchi Moreno, he had a black eye last night.
But I believe that was from their win at Tennessee, not from the current game.
But okay, that's I mean, how good of a passer was he?
Right?
Speaker 1I mean great?
Last?
Speaker 4Noight?
Speaker 1Yeah?
Speaker 2I mean when Natoates said that that Kentucky just can't pass out of the post and that's their problem, Well Kentucky's doing a lot better at that right now with morenos so he is.
He has been incredible this year, no doubt.
Speaker 1So we talked about the roster being depleted.
Can we do what Alabama just did and bringing a guy who just signed three different NBA contracts and is now immediately eligible to play for Alabama?
Explain this to be, like, make sense of this for me, because I don't understand.
It seems like there are no longer any rules when it comes to players just immediately being eligible.
You know how long, you know how hard it was to get players to be eligible for so long with the NCAA.
Now it just seems like we've just thrown the rules completely out and players can now join.
Speaker 2As we saw a big Z that can enroll in school in October.
We see that trans Charles, is it Beadiaco?
Speaker 1Is that how you say his name, I'll trust you who is now immediately eligible to play for Alabama in the middle of January.
I don't understand how this works anymore, and I think the only answer is there really are no rules.
Just whatever you want to do.
Just bring in whoever you want.
It's totally fine.
If they've signed three NBA contracts, Well, that's why.
Speaker 2We're talking about dink Pat so much.
Somebody that signed an exhibit contract with the NBA did not sign a two way.
Somebody that's played in Mexico City over the last two years would still have some eligibility left.
Apparently.
You know, this is a good question.
I think we're all asking this question, Shannon, like, what are the rules right now?
Because the NCAA has just done such a terrible job of being the governing body of college sports, and they rested on their laurels for so long on amateurism that they didn't get out ahead on the transfer portal or nil, and now these eligibility reasons.
Mark Pope talked a little bit about this kind of at the press conference last night, how the NCAA's only leverage left that they have is to hold out a team like Alabama or a Baylor to the the NCAA Tournament.
Now, that would be severe.
Yeah, but that is a reason why I think Mark Pope and Minch Barnhardt would not push the envelope and sign a guy who could make Kentucky ineligible for.
Speaker 1The NCAA tournament.
Speaker 2Agree with that.
Speaker 1First of all, you know, the NC Double A does not have the kahonas to do something like that.
Maybe twenty years ago, but not now.
The NC Double A at this point has just rolled over everything that they ever stood for.
Is no longer a thing.
Not paying players, players are being paid transfer portal.
That's completely upside down from the way it was.
So there's if you ask me to do I think that the NC Double A would actually hold out Alabama from the NC DOUBLEA tournament.
The answers no, I don't think they will.
Speaker 2Well, yeah, and then the ensuing legal battle that would come after that, like it would just be a mess.
But this is just the NCAA has left.
Like they they generate so much revenue from this tournament that it pays for every single championship that they put on the rest of the year, and this is their golden goose and the only thing they do have left so I mean, I don't I necessarily agree with that stance that that's what they should do.
But I don't know, Shannon, I don't get it.
I mean, if you play professionally overseas, you can come right to the States and play.
Yeah, if you play in the G League, I guess it's the same sentiment because it's not actually the NBA.
Speaker 1So if I'm Kentucky, I'm pushing the envelope.
Let's go after somebody in the G League if we can.
Speaker 2Just don't see our administration doing it.
Speaker 1I don't either, But I mean Alabama's getting away with it.
Why wouldn't you.
We got less than a minute.
Let's go to the phones and talk to Judy.
Speaker 3Hey, Judy, Hey, how are you all?
Speaker 5Good?
Speaker 2Good?
Speaker 3Great?
Great?
Forty minutes of basketball last night, just talking about Kentucky fans.
You could ask my husband, he's a UK widow.
I start listening to Tom Lee, tod eight, then you all the KSR.
Then I listened to Dick Gabriel.
Speaker 5Oh it's sick.
Speaker 1If you're listening to Big Outsider, you're definitely a contender for fan.
Yeah.
Speaker 3Well, then I listened to the pregame and post games and I've got a ritual in my house.
I've got some lights I turn on before the game, and I put Kyle Macy's bobblehead beside me.
Oh okay, yeah, now'd.
Speaker 1Yeah, I gotta let you go to ithng on, Judy, let me be right back.
I want to hear more about this.

And Judy, we got cut off.
I want to hear your pregame ritual that you do, so, so start over with your ritual before every Kentucky basketball game.
Speaker 3For the basketball games, of course, I've put on my UK year and I've got the last four games.
I've found the perfect ear rings that have won every game.
Speaker 1Perfect earrings on.
Speaker 3I turn on my light UK like and then I put Kyle Macy's bobblehead beside me, so when they hit free throws, I can bobble his head and I don't.
I don't.
I live out the country in Mounster looking so I don't go to games, but I watch the men, the women, the volleyball, the baseball.
I'll be getting back into football again this year.
So anyway, well Y, yeah.
Speaker 1Yeah, Judy will definitely put you down as it was one of the contenders for top Kentucky basketball.
Speaker 3One more thing, shout out to my nephews Toy Howe and Clark Howe.
Uh they cover the high school basketball for KSR.
Speaker 1All right, there you go, Thanks for the colleg Judy, we appreciate it.
So, Billy, I mean, I need you to get you some good UK ear rings.
Put them on for the game.
Get you a cal Macy bobblehead doll.
Put on your UK gear and make sure you hit the bubblehead every time Kentucky hits a free throw.
Speaker 2Macy bibblehead.
That's that's perfect.
Yeah, as I was as a good of a free throw shooter as he was.
You know, she says that she's never lost in those ear rings.
I mean, did she not wear them for all the games this year?
Speaker 3Like she?
Speaker 2I mean, it sounds like she's mixing it up a little bit with what earring she wears.
So we're gonna need some consistency there.
Speaker 1So if we lose, though, I mean I think we got to blame Judy's ear rings or yeah.
Speaker 2Or her not wearing the ear rings.
You could just blame Judy, but like that is a true and true Kentucky fan.
That's what we're going to get into the weeds here in the summer when it comes to this contest, because like, do you have to go to Kentucky to be in the running, Shannon, or do you think.
Speaker 1That you don't Haven't you mean have to go to Kentucky.
Isn't like you were a student there?
Speaker 2Well, I guess, I mean not everybody can afford college, so you could say that you don't have to, but that would be that would go a long way too.
Speaker 1Big game tonight for the women's team down in Knoxville.
They play Tennessee number seventeenth the Ring Tennessee.
That's at six thirty tonight and another chance for Kenny Brooks to get a big win on the road down down in Tennessee.
So hopefully they can continue their hot streak and keep rolling.
Because I think this Kentucky team, the way they're playing right now, maybe talking about a final four run for the women's team.
Speaker 2Yeah, very excited for this women's basketball team.
Speaker 3Now.
Speaker 2I know the UT women's team had a pretty good year last year with their first year head coach, and so they'll look to keep that train rolling.
But this is I mean, how sweet would it be if you can get a win in the men's and women's Shannon, So let's see if they can get it done.
Speaker 1Billy.
I don't know how often you fly, but did you see what Subway is doing with this new promotion that they're taking care of people who are in the middle seat.
Speaker 2Now there's nothing on other supply, so maybe the supplies all.
Speaker 1Right, it was just for this Tuesday, January twenty seventh, But for anybody who is flying this Tuesday in a middle seat, which is there anything more uncomfortable?
And then when you got a long flight and you're in the middle seat, especially if you're flying by yourself and there's people on each side of you that you don't know, that's the absolute worst.
That's worst case scenario.
I've been there before.
But Subway wants to take care of anybody who is stuck in the middle seat this Tuesday.
All you have to do is take a self with you in the middle seat, send it to take it the subway, and they're gonna give you a twenty dollars gift card to get a subway.
And I know, didn't you just say yesterday that you ate subway every day back in college?
Speaker 5I did.
Speaker 2Yeah, back in college, I was a staple.
Speaker 1So I saw this story and I thought of you, Billy that you know, you would be one of these people who would definitely go cash in your subway card.
Speaker 2Well, even if I'm not in the middle skreet, scoot over for a second, let me get a selfie so I can go get this twenty dollars subway gift card.
It sounds like a great idea.
I got a little question for you, though, fair or foul.
When you are in the middle seat, you get both armrests.
Speaker 1See, that's a good question.
I've always wondered, like, what is the etiquette?
Speaker 2Is it?
Speaker 1Like, you know, first come, first serve.
I was sitting there first, then you come in, like you know, let's say you're in the middle seat, and then you got to get up to let the person by the window in.
Now I was the first person in this road technically here, I feel like I was here first, I'm gonna let the person in and immediately claim the right side of the arm right.
Speaker 2Well, I think there is like a an order to all this, but it may just come down to like who's got the balls or who's got the who's the more alpha, who's the alpha?
Yeah, to put your arm there doing that?
Speaker 1So you're just crossing your arms.
Speaker 2I don't need that from you, Shannon, I don't need that from me.
So, like there is a lot of like who was there first, who is like bold enough to actually do it?
I think that in the order of things, the person in the middle seat should get both arm rest because you are in a You're gonna be in a tight spot for at least a little while.
Speaker 1Yeah, So if I'm stuck in the middle, I feel like I deserve that.
Or you know, if I've got somebody that in the middle between me and somebody else, I might give them that because I got the right side, if I'm by the window, if I'm on the aisle, I got the left side.
The person in the middle, you know, you got to at least give the person in the middle something, right, So then how do they determine do they get the right side?
Of the left side, or do you just let them have both?
See, and it just depends on how big of a jerk the person on the window or the aisle is, Because if I'm by the aisle and I want to be a jerk, I guess I could just take both of them, or or you split the difference.
You both get the edge of the side that you're on.
Speaker 2No, no, you can't share.
Speaker 1I've done it before.
I've done it before, you've shared the Well, I've been in the middle seat and the person to the right of me that's by the window.
Speaker 2Okay, I'm trying to play it out.
Speaker 1Okay, I'm in the middle.
Yeah, I'm on the right aisle.
Speaker 2Okay, so that the arms crossed is beta Shannon.
Speaker 1No, no, no, no, no, no, no, that's what I'm telling you.
That's you.
Don't get you confused.
For me, I am sticky my arm right there, and I will give them a little nudge if I need to.
Speaker 2No, you're not.
Speaker 1I will rub my arm hair on them and make them feel a little uncomfortable if I need to, just so I can have a little space, Like I'm not gonna sit here in the middle and be squished between two people that I don't know.
That's not happening.
Speaker 2You rub your arm hair on me, we're gonna have problems.
Well, you better actually, after COVID.
Speaker 1You better call a flight attendant.
Then if you're worried about COVID, you wouldn't be on a flight again.
With Steward.
Speaker 2I'm gonna hit his gonna be button.
I'm gonna be hitting that button.
Now, where are you unreclining like?
There's a lot of rules here on the airplane.
I don't recline like.
I'm not a recliner.
Speaker 1If you recline on me, I will stick my knees up and put them in your back.
Speaker 2Yeah, I'm a recliner.
I mean, I'm sure you could have guessed that.
Here's the type I'm a recliner.
Speaker 1Here's a type of passenger I am.
I'm gonna make you aware that I'm here.
Like, you're not just gonna like run all over.
You're not just gonna lay your seat back in my lap.
You're not gonna take both arm rest.
I'm gonna let it knowing that I'm here.
So I'm gonna come in with a little nudge.
It's not gonna be an aggressive nudge, but it's gonna be like, Okay, here's my arm.
It's here.
I'm gonna make you push my arm off the arm rust.
That's what I'm doing when I'm ridding.
Speaker 2Yeah, I think this is a little bit of radio shan the dude compared to what you would do it no no, no, no, no no no no, no, off my arm.
Speaker 1I didn't say it was nudging you off.
I said I am coming in with the arm and I may give you a little bump, like, hey, this is my territory too.
Speaker 2It may be it may just be first come, first sir.
It may just be boiled down to what the arm rest are.
But like, if my chair has the ability to recline, I'm reclining, And if you're gonna complain, how about you just recline your chair a little bit.
I mean that's unless you're the back seat.
Everybody has the option to recline, So you're gonna give me that option.
I'm just not gonna not take.
Speaker 1You're telling me you're the person that reclines back on somebody.
Speaker 2Yes, you are the worst, dude.
No, I'm not the worst for taking advantage of an actual feature of the airplane.
Speaker 1You're you're purposely leaning, like how far are you talking about just the nudge.
Speaker 2Back or are we talking I don't know however far that thing goes.
I mean, it's not a car seat where you're going all the way back.
Speaker 1You and I would not work on a plane.
Speaker 2What are you gonna do about it?
I'm gonna you're behind me and I recline.
Speaker 1I'm gonna pull my scissors out and cut your hair.
That's what I'm gonna.
Speaker 2Okay, well, then you're problem.
Speaker 1You're gonna fall asleep and you're gonna wake up and you're not gonna have any hair.
Speaker 3You know.
Speaker 2They talk about little kids screaming and kicking the back of people's seats.
It sounds like what you're doing at the airport.
You're in the airplane.
I will give you a free haircut if you fall asleep and lean back rest.
Yeah, Oh, you're gonna recline on me.
I'll just cut your hair, all right.
Speaker 1Don't mess with me telling you I'm ready to go.
I don't know how.
I don't ask me how I got scissors on the plane.
I don't think that's allowed now.
Speaker 2I will put my seat in the right spot when we are landing or for takeoff.
I will follow the rules, Shannon, but you have.
Speaker 1No regard for anybody else's comfort other than yourself.
Speaker 2Yeah, I'm leaning back, Okay, all right, Well, I hope I never get on a plane with you, and you better hope you never get on a plane with me.
Speaker 1Andy's up next?
What's up?
Andy?
Andy?
Can you hear us?
Speaker 2Andy?
Speaker 1All right?
Speaker 2I needed to hear about his bourbon and bubbles experience.
Speaker 1And there's another caller that I did not get your name because I was trying to also host the show while entering a phone call.
So whoever's on the line, go ahead, what's your name.
Speaker 3This?
Speaker 1Mike?
Mike?
Speaker 3All right?
Speaker 2What's that?
Speaker 1What's on your mind?
Speaker 2Mike?
Since we have another injury?
What's the latest information on Quaint And it's well.
Speaker 1The information is there's no information.
He has knee swelling and it's game to game and there's some people who believe that he may not play another game this year, but we don't know.
It's like we're getting the information on the injury report that comes out before every game.
So tomorrow we will hear once again if he's going to be available or not.
Billy, if I had to guess, I would say he probably will be out again.
I don't know that, but that's my guess.
Speaker 2It sounds like this decision is up to him at this point, whether it be pain management or how much that knee is swelling.
I think Kentucky would love to have him back and he would be a big addition.
But you know, is he thinking about his draft stock, is he thinking about the long term health of his knee.
Speaker 1These are all.
Speaker 2Factors right now, and we just we don't have that info.
Speaker 1Yep, thanks for the call, Mike.
We appreciate it.
Andy is now on again.
Let's go.
Let's try and back.
Yes, go ahead, Andy, can you hear us?
Speaker 2Now?
Speaker 4Hey, what's up guys?
First time a long time.
Last time I talked to Paul Jaws about will Levis playing or not.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Wow, it's welcome back.
Speaker 4Yeah that's a alung high.
But hey, real quick, got an interesting update for you all for your weatherman battle for the Small Ape Lipse for this weekend.
Chris Bailey named his daughter Winter.
Her name is Winter spelled with w y n t e R.
So he's claimed Winter for himself through the naming of his daughter.
Speaker 1Wow.
To see that, right, there is a weatherman through and through if you are so dedicated to your owning, like I mean, would never call my child radio or anything to do or film or am or anything with radio, Like I'm not doing it.
I'm not that dedicated to my microphone.
Well yeah, Mike micro Winter Bailey.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, well Winter is a little crazy though, like is it autumn and summer next?
Speaker 3Yeah?
Speaker 1They kill?
Does he?
Yeah, that's a good question.
Does he have other kids named after other seasons of the year.
Speaker 4I don't know, but all seriously, good Bill Max for the win.
Bill Mack is the guy.
Speaker 1There you go and everyone knows it.
Speaker 2All right, see ye see team Team Bailey, thank you, thanks for the thanks for calling.
Speaker 1Team Weinberg, Team car Dosi.
Where's your allegiance at?
Speaker 2You know, I'm withholding judgment right now.
I need to see how these models play out the predictions that some of these guys are going to make over the next twenty four hours or so.
Uh, and then we'll see it come to fruition or not.
But I do like the feistiness, like the stirring of the pot.
Oh it's so petty high school like petty anger at each other.
And I mean that's because they take it seriously right, and they should because people's lives are in danger.
I mean, this is a serious event.
Not only is it you know, maybe we get off work or school at times, but so I mean, like news radio eight forty six thirty lap, these are places where you should stay tuned to get the latest when it comes to.
Speaker 1These weather billy, just do not tweet me your ice map or I will mute you.
I might even block you.
I don't want to see your ice maps.
Speaker 2Well, I mean you've you have like fake news out there, Shannon, then you should be criticized, like you shouldn't be putting that out into the ether.
Speaker 1Oh okay, yeah, so share you're actually team Weinberg, then it sounds I mean yeah, I mean I.
Speaker 2Get just tired of these amateurs just posting whatever they want.
They think they could just be a meteorologist because they watch the weather radar in their basement.
Speaker 1All right, we'll take more of your phone calls coming up next eight five, nine, two eight oh twenty two eighty seven.
Final segment of the KSRP pre Show On the Way.
Final segment of the KSR pre Show at Shannon the Dude, Andy writes and it says Shannon is one hundred percent correct on airplane behavior.
I've done all of it and agree with it.
When it comes to how you have to handle being in the middle seat, you have to sometimes establish your your territory, Billy, let them know you're there.
Not saying you have to like shove the person's arm off the the arm rest, but you can't just let them completely take over your territory.
Speaker 2Well with the understanding that you get both armrest if you're in the middle, right, because the aisle seat gets the leg room and then the window seat gets the it gets the window.
Can I just read you like text in order, because we've got a ton of response from that last yes.
Speaker 1On the Quantrelle Auto group text line.
Speaker 2That's right, yeaheah yeah, five two two six five six six five six.
I'm just going to read some of these in order.
Billy, I'm the same.
I have to recline.
I'm six three.
If they didn't want us to recline the seats, they wouldn't recline, and it only reclines two inches.
Anyway, you need to get first class.
Then, now that I've gotten the pro reclining comments out of the way, let's read some of the other one.
Billy, you are the worst, leaning back more than a little as bs.
Only if you are on a night flight going overseas can you lean back all the way?
Otherwise I like you, Billy.
Oh okay, well, otherwise they like you, but you're the worst.
People who recline should be sent to jail.
We aren't barbarians.
Speaker 1I agree with that.
Yeah, I don't even know why there's a recliner button on there already begin with, there should not be a recliner button on there.
Speaker 2That's because they are allowing their passengers to recline.
So I am just taking advantage of the amenities.
And then finally, one person said, Jim Caldwell has a kid named Storm.
Speaker 1Oh really, okay, so is this a thing?
Well, Billy, I mean, like, I know that eventually you're going to have a kid, So I think that maybe you should consider some sort of radio like, uh, you know, tie in for the name you you and now we're kind of just spitballing a little bit during the break, some different names you could, you know, really, if you have if you have twins, I think AM and FM would be perfect.
Speaker 2I don't know if I could show myself in public.
If I had named my kid AM and FM as a radio guy.
Now I am the third, So I think it is I have to name my firstborn son the same name as me.
Speaker 1And four, so we're going four four.
Speaker 2Yeah, I think we got to go four.
But like, if I have a daughter or a second son, then maybe we name them Spot for radio.
Speaker 1Spot.
That's an awful name.
Speaker 2Spot.
Well you got any more for the radio, I said, Mike for a microphone?
Speaker 1Well, we can't use dump.
I think that would be a terrible number.
A dump button?
Speaker 2What a terrible go through life?
Which dump?
Is there a dump here?
Yeah?
That's me dump Rutledge, Dump Rutledge.
Speaker 1I don't have any others.
You had any others?
Speaker 2No, that Spot was all my creative.
Speaker 1All right, let's go to Bill.
What's up?
Speaker 3Bill?
Speaker 5Well, hang on, I want you to to Yeah, I want you to explain to us how you have no problem with someone standing up in front of somebody for an entire basketball or football game, but yet you have a problem with somebody on the plane who wants to recline three inches.
I'm gonna get off and lets you explain that discrepancy to different things completely.
Speaker 1First of all, you're at a sporting event.
Everybody should stand at a game, all right.
You can't fair riding on an airplane an airplane to watching a game.
I think it's two completely different things.
If you're at a game, you need to be up.
Standing up is encouraged.
When you're on a plane, nobody's standing up.
You're sitting down.
It's different.
You need to have a little bit of courtesy when you're riding in an airplane.
Speaker 2Oh, you need to have some curtesy at game too.
I mean, you don't get no, you get to stand up.
You're going to stand the entire game, and you see.
I think that I think that's a little much.
Speaker 1The only difference is if you've got somebody behind you the tandy cap, you need to take that in consideration.
Otherwise, if the person behind you is physically able to stand, they need to get up and stand.
It's different when you're on an airplane.
Speaker 2Completely generally agree with that, Like I want my fans to be into the game, and like, I'm not going to discourage people from standing, but standing for the entire game is too much.
There needs to be a little bit of moderation or some courtesy to the people behind.
Speaker 1Now, let's say we're at a game and we're all sitting down in the person in front of me is laying down in my lap.
You okay with that?
No, okay, Well it's the same thing when you're on an airplane.
So that's how we compare it right there.
Speaker 2Oh it's not you can recline yourself.
Then we're just back to where we found Kger.
It's not hard to get.
Speaker 1Roger lean back on the person's knee behind me.
Then in that case, that's what you're saying.
If you are situation there is if I'm sitting down, it's the same thing on an airplane, I can lean back.
Okay, the next time you're at Kroger Field, just have somebody just in front of you lean back on your legs and see if.
Speaker 2You're lean back at Kroger Field, then yeah, you can here find with somebody leaning back, with somebody landing anyway, because.
Speaker 1I have to not fine with that.
Well, if you're standing up, good, sit down for a second.
No, I'm I think you should stand up.
That's good.
But I'm saying, if we're sitting down in the person in front of me is laying down in my lap, I'm gonna have something to say about that too.
DraftKings Sports Book, I got something to say about that.
Bet five dollars and if your bet hits, you get three hundred dollars in bonus bets.
She used the promo code KSRS only on Draft Kings.
Tomorrow.
We are live in Campbell'sville at Don Franklin.
Come out.
We'll be there starting at nine a m.
Eastern time for Billy Retledge, who is an awful flight person.
We'll be back back tomorrow.
Speaker 2All right, We'll see
